Dr. Jones is a great professor. You only need NIM book, not the text book. The exams are online. You have participation assignments but they're way easy and mostly based on your opinion. Tons of extra credit. Awesome class!!

Impossible to fail. 5 sheets of paper front and back to type or write ANYTHING YOU WANT on for every exam. Don't screenshot each lecture slide, just type the content on while you sit in class. 14 attendance quizzes but drops the lowest four. PS, the attendance is 25% of your grade. Awesome, caring professor. Easily my favorite on the entire campus.

Dr. Jones is such an awesome person. He is really sweet and his classes are always interesting. He lets you use 5 sheets (front and back) of notes on your tests, and he gives TONS of extra credit every week. You are guaranteed at least a B+. If you don't then you just didn't try. Go to class and use your cheat sheets and you will be fine.

Dr. Jones is one of the most fantastic professors I have had during my educational career. Not only does he care about you learning the material, he also cares about you as a person. His class isn't about the grade (though I made an A+) it is about building yourself up as a person and student. Truly an inspiring and amazing man. Would take again.

Dr. Jones is a great professor! I wasn't particularly excited about this class but he is interesting and clearly passionate about what he does. No required textbook and attendance isn't mandatory, although he gives in class participation points practically every class. If you go to class and take notes, easy A. I would definitely recommend!

He's a great professor and very understanding. He will work with you outside of class if you need it and will always respond to emails quickly. He wants his students to do well and is VERY passionate about Environmental Health.

Take Dr. Jones! You get 5 pages (front and back) of notes for the exam so the questions are pretty specific. Attendance is mandatory but his lectures are interesting and he posts the power points online. Lots of participation points and extra credit opportunities.

Dr. Jones was such a great teacher and I was not expecting to enjoy environmental health and pollution but he made it very interesting and taught us things we could apply to our own lives. We had 3 tests and he allowed us to bring in 5 pages of notes front and back to use for each one. He is a very enthusiastic teacher and wants students do well.

This class changed my life. Dr. Jones gives awesome lectures, and really cares about his students. He wants you to do well and take a lot away from the class. If you go to class and pay attention you will do well in this class. You learn a lot that you can apply to your real life. I would take it again if I could. The best professor at USC.

probably one of the best professors i have ever had at usc. he is a very good teacher, and makes the class interesting and enjoyable. As long as you pay attention in class and complete his assignments, you are guaranteed an A.

Dr. Jones is an amazing professor. His classes are filled with great material; material which makes you think beyond the classroom. He is enthusiastic about the subject and it shows in the class. He's so excited about the material that it makes you get excited, too! I would definitely recommend, and I would be happy to take a class with him again.

Dr. Jones teaches Oceans & Society in such a great way! He makes lectures fun and interesting and it helps that he posts all the slides on blackboard for you. His exams get intense but he drops the lowest exam grade and there are quizzes to give you other grades in the class. Show up, pay attention, put in some effort. Not a super easy A class.

Being a transfer student I didn't know what to expect from this class. I will say I came out with more information then I intended on gaining. Dr. Jones is a excellent professor and is passionate about Marine Science. Very approachable and will give you more than enough resources to pass his class. Great professor. His lectures are actually really cool. When Trump won, he pitched a little fit in class the next day - which I thought was very unprofessional. Other than that, I loved him.

I hate science and he actually made it really enjoyable and he gave us tools for actually retaining the material. He's so passionate about the ocean and that makes a huge difference for me. He will work with you if you are having issues, but go to class to learn the material and not get points off. Doesn't use the text book so that's a plus.

Professor Jones makes environmental science really interesting and doesn't force you to believe anything but simply educates you on the facts and lets you decide for yourself. Tests are pretty specific but you get to bring in 5 pages of notes and he offers a fair amount of extra credit. He love his students and I would 100% take again!

Dr. Jones has been amazing to have as a professor and has opened m eyes to a lot of environmental issues that I was not aware about. He is super knowledgeable, approachable, kind, and overall just a great person. His lectures are don't skip class because he will give you info that is not on the slides. Only "textbook" is a super cheap book.

Absolutely take this class!!! Dr. Jones is the best professor I've had and this course is so interesting. He has you read chapters of a book outside of class but the book is great and not too long, and you're allowed 3 pgs of notes on exams. If you put in the effort you'll get an A, easily the best class and professor I've had at this school.

Class was a little boring, but thats just because of the subject. He really tried to make it interesting. He takes attendance everyday and there are online quizzes every weekend. He gave a lot of extra credit if you showed up to class.

Let me begin by saying that I am horrible at anything science related, but I fell in love with this class! Dr. Jones truly does a phenomenal job in making his lectures interesting and informative, and has a deep care for the well-being of the earth. He is inspiring, understanding, and relatable, which are my top qualities for a professor. Love it!

Joe is amazing. He hands out extra credit like candy. However, his study guides can be loaded, as in 70 slides an exam so studying on the daily is a must. Class participation is also a must because that's one way of gaining extra credit and his test questions come straight from things done in class.

Dr. Jones is one of the best professors I have had. He is very passionate and knowledgable about this subject and loves discussing it with students. He allowed 3 pages of notes on each exam, so there's not really an excuse to do badly on them. As long as you show up (he does grade for participation/attendance) and pay attention, you'll do good.

I have never enjoyed a class more than I did with professor Jones. His energy and passion for the subject matter really draws you into his lectures. He guenuinly wants his students to do well and not only offers multiple extra credit opportunities but allows exams to be taken online. He even spices up the class by having a meme Monday.

Joe definitely loves what he's teaching which makes his lectures way more interesting than I would have expected from a marine science class. He adds points to your exam grades just for showing up to class because attendance isn't mandatory. Exams + quizzes are STRAIGHT out of his powerpoints. All exams + quizzes are online on your own time.

Professor Joe is SPECTACULAR! He is a man who cares and wants you to at least enjoy what you learn, though he understands most people who take 210 are not marine science majors. Every exam but the final has extra credit- up to 10-11 points extra credit. You'll enjoy being in class. He even gave me a list of child's marine books (not MSCI major)

Through the transition to being online due to quarantine, this man has been an absolute godsend. He is kind and he actually cares about his students, even though there are so many of us. His lectures are always interesting and I've never been to one I didn't laugh in. Joe is an amazing teacher and you should take him if you have the chance.

Joe is an amazing teacher! I have him for multiple other classes and he's the best. The lectures are online and recorded so I can go back and rewatch them (Highly recommended to understand it better). Also if you get your lab work done on time you should be fine. Also, he does give lots of opportunities for extra credit like meme Mondays.

Joe is amazing! He is easy to get a hold of and schedule meeting times outside of class. His lectures are great and detailed, and with being online they are recorded and attendance is not mandatory. This is not an easy class, you have to work for it, but he makes it fun. Tests are difficult but many factors go into your grade. Lot of extra credit.

Jones is a great professor and if you have the option you should take him. Class is not a lot of work, only a few assignments and four exams. Material is easy to understand and he does a good job of making sure you understand what is going on. Sometimes you will get a question and dont ever remember learning about it, but other than that he's great

One of my favorite professors I've had. He's really easy to follow and is very passionate about his job. I can't rave enough about how much I enjoyed his class and was interested about what he was talking about. A really easy "A" if you just show up to class everyday. In my opinion you have to really try hard to fail or not show up.

Dr. Joe is very passionate about marine science, but understands this class is mainly non-science majors. It was mainly just lecture, but exams were online, open-note and pretty easy. There was no homework, just exams and short essays on documentaries. You can get iCliker points for extra credit and get out of the final exam! Take him!

One of the best class set ups I've experienced as a junior and also one of my favorite lecturers. If you need this class as a credit take Jones he is an absolute gem. His class was always the best part of my day. He is a great professor! Take him if you can! This is one of the musts at USC!

You won't pass the class if you don't go to the lectures, but his lectures are interesting, so it's not hard to go to them.

Literal king! Super enjoyable class, lectures are engaging and he uses memes which are funny most of the time. A few extra credit opportunities which are not super challenging. Online and at home exams not in lock down or anything. 11/10 would recommend. He's flawless.

His lectures were incredibly interesting, but he does move through material extremely quickly. He works hard to create connections with students in his lectures so I would definitely recommend reaching out. He is very willing to meet with students outside of class time and wants each student to succeed in his class.

The exams are a little tough, but he does warn ahead what will be on them. His lectures are good but he does move very quickly, so take fast notes/review the slides outside of class. He is very helpful and understanding, and the review before the final exam was really good. He does a good job explaning difficult concepts with great analogies.

Attendance is not mandatory - but you have to show up. If you don't you will not do well on exams. Powerpoint slides are really not helpful outside of class, so go to class and learn the material - he basically tells you whats on the exam.

This class was pretty boring, considering i thought it was going to focus on marine animals, but it ended up being about the ocean in general. That being said, this was a very easy class overall, just make sure you come to class to get the notes even though attendance is not mandatory. You have a chance to exempt the final as well.

Loved this class and Professor Jones. Cares heavily about the material and teaching students, lots of extra credit opportunities. Lectures are always interesting and engaging. Grade is heavily influence by exams so prepare for those. Works alongside students and does what is in the best interest of the students to help them preform well.

There are 3 exams & they are very representative of what he discusses during the lectures. Some of the labs aren't the most interesting but overall they were easy & went well with course content.

If you love learning about the ocean and how it's connected to all of our environment, this is the class for you! Lots of fun experiences and opportunities! There is a textbook for the course but it is in no way required. Attendance is not mandatory BUT i HIGHLY recommend you attend lectures. You will pass if you attend. Take advantage of the ExCr.

Dr. Joe is by far the best professor I have ever had (I am a junior and have attended 3 colleges). He really means it when he says "Just show up and you will pass". It is not hard. If you are compassionate you won't have to study. He cares about every student and though there are hundreds of us, he will know your name by the end of the semester.

Dr. Joe is great at his job and teaches the material in a way that is easy to follow and retain. While he doesn't take attendance, your exam scores will show if you've been to class or not. If you show up, you will do good. Even if you don't grasp the material, he is easy to talk to and ask for help, and extra credit will help your grade if needed.

If you need a filler class this is it. One quiz a week, tons of extra credit, don't need to pay attention. Even though you don't need to pay attention he is very fun and the subject is pretty cool and he keeps it interesting so I would show up.

Really funny guy and the lectures were interesting even though I'm not even close to majoring in marine science. If you are going to take a science take this one please!!! It's so easy, tests are online open-note and even drops a midterm. Insane amount of extra credit opportunities as well with I-clicker (which you don't even have to do)

Just take him, he is lit - the class is easy as nuts. I literally have an 100 in it. If you get an clicker remote and get an 80% correctness for in class questions, you don't have to take the final. SO SO SO SO SO easy.

Guys I'm not remotely close to a marine science major but this class was so easy, exams are online and if you score at least 80% iclicker questions in class you can exempt the final. All exams and weekly quizzes are online. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go it won't be a waste of your time, he's a great teacher

I have always hated science, but Professor Jones has changed my mind. He was passionate about Marine Biology, and that made the class so interesting and engaging and honestly really fun! If you go to class and buy an iClicker, you'll get an A. It's easy to put effort in in this class because it's honestly a good time. Love this guy!

Very nice guy, I enjoyed his class. He does not take attendance, however, it is crucial to go to class. He posts lecture slides, but they are primarily just pictures. Lectures are very informative and helpful. Mostly all the concepts you cover are interconnected and won't just go away after the first exam, so it is really important to go to class.

As long as you take notes and attend the lectures it is a pretty easy class. Dr. Joe is very nice and wants you to do well, he is there to help. The labs can be a bit time consuming but overall not difficult. The tests are open note but don't use AI, it won't help and he will be able to tell. I would highly recommend taking this class!
