His homework (online quizzes) is often hard. The in class quizzes are easier. His lectures are great. He definitely knows his subject, and there is a cumulative for the final.
Textbook and online code are mandatory. There are online quizes, in class quizes for every chapter and 3 tests. He really cares about your success and makes sure you understand before moving on. His lectures are interesting and clear. I would take him again no doubt.
One of the best classes I've taken on one of my least favorite subjects. Professor Kwon sets you up to succeed as long as you apply yourself and trust him. He knows economics forwards and backwards and makes class informative, yet enjoyable. Would definitely take him again!
Macro-econ has been one of my toughest classes after 2 yrs at CSN . Expect to invest 5-7 hours on a weekly HW if u wanna get "A". Study groups may greatly help with challenging questions on HW quizzes. Overall, Dr. Kwon seemed to be an easily approachable person. Can't take his morning class for Econ261 only because of my personal schedule.
Dr. Kwon has the amazing ability to take something so simple and complicate it 100 times over. I taught myself the entire semester. He is unprepared, rude, condescending, and entitled. 25 Students started the class and there were only 8 of us by the end of class. He rounds tests, so even though the class learned nothing, we all got a passing grade
Mr. Kwon is a good guy but this is the toughest class I have ever taken. He is thorough when it comes to teaching, you'll never get out of class early. You HAVE to get a textbook because homework requires it. Quiz after each HW assignment. Dont expect an easy A with this class at all.
Will is a great teacher! This course was by no means easy but he makes the material easy to learn and relatable, with lots of examples. There is a sufficient amount of work.
If you are tired of the lame, dumbed down, college courses and you want to actually learn and be an adult, then take this class. I am sick of ultra easy, high school like classes. Kwon treats you like an adult and truly helps you see the truth in life by teaching Statistics. I am so glad I finally had a course that challenged me. Terrific class!
Dr. Kwon does an excellent job of helping to guide you through the jungle that is Statistics. He doesn't fill your head with unicorns and rainbows, just gives it to you straight. Really tough course, but I still looked forward to coming to lecture. Took the 8 week course that consisted of in class quizzes, exams, and online quizzes. Learned a lot!
He expects you to understand his lectures, when they are sloppy and unorganized. When you ask him a question he doesn't bother responding with an answer, but rather asks you a question back. If I knew the answer to my question would I be asking? Doesn't give answers to quizzes, homework, or test. So if you really can't figure it out, you're screwed
I've passed calc 2 and o chem with an A, yet I still find this class more difficult due to the professor's teaching style. That should say something.
Just pick another teacher. He is rude, sloppy, unorganized. confusing lecture. Extremely tricky and difficult exams or quizzes. I Do Not recommend him at all. he is a waste of time and money.
My grading for him His ability to convey material clearly F or below His ability to set a clear grading criteria F or below His ability to confuse students and make them suffer thru the term A+
Most disorganized professor I have taken.
Dr. Kwon is very logical. Three total exams, you have to study to pass, but its always optional to do so. Don't expect extra credit. You'll learn about the economy and discuss controversial topics. You'll do fine IF YOU STUDY! *Thumbs Up*
Don't take his class! (He's a waste of time and money when you are used to getting A for showing up to class and doing nothing.) His exams are hard and tricky! (He tells you the essay questions and uses the multiple choice questions from the study guide, homework, quizzes.) I don't mind learning and working hard so I'll just have to take him again.
HW and one quiz at home available for each chapter only 2 days in advance then a quiz in the class. after every 3 chapters there are 3 difficult tests. Everything in his class is on the curve. Lots of questions. He enjoys when you struggle to learn. If you don't want to suffer find another professor. Not easy C or evenB.
Dr. Kwon is one of the best professors I have ever had. Although he makes you work for the A, he will teach you things that can be used outside in the real world. He wants you to actually understand the why and how of stats rather than just plugging in numbers. He is also honestly hilarious and will make you laugh.
If you need easy A, don't waste your time and money. He makes you work for A. There is a HW, quiz for each chapter and overall 3 tests. His lectures are organized, and he is available in his office hours. You will learn a lot. My only complain is about 48 questions that should be answered in 50 min. He is one of the best at CSN, I recommend him!!!
Professor Kwon is helpful and is open for constructive criticism. He goes out of his way to make sure you understand and are comfortable in his class. I went to him because I had to miss class due to work and he ran through the whole class one on one. Whatever my grade is I EARNED it. The material is hard and he isnt going to give you an A
Class was a challenge, but one that I felt good about what I achieved. Obvious professor cares, very approachable and available outside of class.
Everything you need to know is said in the lectures. You really just have to listen in class. The homework is really not much, 10-20 questions online like every other or two classes and a quiz following the due date. You need to study for the exams, its college. Great and funny guy and gets to know everyones names by the end of the semester.
I've spent two semesters with Dr. Kwon, both in Statistics 261 and in Microeconomics. His rigorous teaching style invites students to be open about their misunderstandings. Dr. Kwon does not meander excessively, yet he keeps things interesting to say the least lol. If you want the knowledge, you'll find it here. Read the chapter before the lecture!
Overall very difficult.
Dr. Kwon was one of the best teachers I have had at this school hands down, he really wants you to learn what he's teaching and while his class isn't easy, it's well worth taking if you care about getting your money's worth. HW and online quizzes are easy if you come to class and take notes. You MUST study for the tests.
Dont expect an easy A or B , he has three tests really really really hard and difficult tricky all of them multiple choices a lot of questions not enough time to answer it, You have to buy the book to do the homework , after each chapter that is it quiz ,
I was very disappointed with this class..... At the end of the semester, I was completely angry at this professor. I am a decent student at CSN who has never failed a class before. I wasted my time and money. During class, he has no sympathy for students but to laugh and giggle how difficult this class is. I regret taking this class with him.
Mr. Kwon knows his stuff well, but is very very confusing on his teaching method, He'll talk about stuff not related to class & then you're out of time to do the in-class quiz. 12 quizzes with 15 questions ea. & 3 really hard & tricky exams, 50 questions multiple choice but not enough time to answer. No extra-credit and no real feedback on the HW.
I found Mr. Kwon a very smart professor and i really enjoyed his lectures. However, i found him to be very disrespectful. He always made smart comments and look down on students. I went to meet with him in his office hours for additional help and he only wasted my time to make me feel like i was stupid and had no chance of succeed in his class.
Really enjoyed him as a teacher but his quizzes and Exams are extremely difficult. I put in 6 hours a week outside of class and was still lost a lot of the time. He is very clear about his expectations. Online homework and in class quizzes for each chapter along with 3 big Exams. All the work is extremely difficult. Get into a study group ASAP
Excellent Professor, take him if you want to get your money's worth and value your education. He started the class by explaining that in order to do well you must put in effort and that's how his class is ran. He gives great feedback and if you are confused all you have to do is explain why you don't understand something and he is very helpful.
The BEST teacher I've ever had, hands down. He makes EVERYTHING so simple. He was so clear in explaining everything in his lectures, and nothing makes him happier than to help you, if you have any questions. Every teacher at CSN should learn from him. A true model for an amazing teacher. I'm not sure why many of the reviews below me were negative.
Take Mr. Kwon if you want to get way above your moneys worth. I absolutely recommend him above all other Econ teachers at CSN. You will learn so much from him and youll be surprised how simple and easy he makes Stats (considering stats is a hard topic). Nothing makes him happier than helping you understand and seeing you get that A in his class.
Mr. Kwon is the best teacher that you can take for Statistics. Yes, all the assignments are hard and you must spend hours of studying per week in order to pass with a good grade. But you'll learn so much from this class. He's also clear about his expectations and willing to give lots of extra credit opportunities.
Amazing teacher. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who wants to learn about economics and stats. I originally majored in health science and wanted to become a doctor but now I switched my major to Economics because of Mr. Kwon. He is truly an inspiration. I would strongly advise to take his 261 class as well.
Mr. Kwon was the funniest, best stats teacher ever!!! He made learning stats so much fun. Its kind of amazing how Kwon makes stats (a boring, hard subject) into one of the most fun, easy classes I ever had!! I absolutely recommend taking him!! We loved calling him Mr. Hit the Kwon (get it, it sounds like Hit the Quan, that song by ILoveMemphis).
I thought stats would be crazy hard, but I was surprised. Mr. Kwon is one of the easiest teachers I've ever had. He teaches stats step by step, and makes everything so clear and simple. It feels like an elementary school class! He is extremely helpful, and easily accessible outside of class if you have any questions. An easy A to be honest.
I loved Mr. Kwon. Two thumbs up. If you pay attention to his lecture in class you can learn so much from him. He is also very available after class if you have any questions. He is always happy to help. The homework is super easy once you get the hang of it :)
I had Professor Kwon a while ago, and I have to say I honestly loved his teaching style. His classes are very interactive, and through that many people in his class are clear on the content and learn a lot, as well as have fun. The way he teaches is just amazing.
Loved Kwon's class. The only thing is that you will get a lot of quizzes, for our class it was a quiz every Monday. But his quizzes are SUPER easy. Just glance over the chapters a little bit and you'll find that the quizzes are a breeze. Same goes for the tests, just glance over the quizzes and you will do just fine! Also lots of easy extra credit!
To be very honest, if you show up to Mr. Kwon's class everyday, you will do just fine in his class. Everything you need to know is explained in very simple terms during his lectures. All the quizzes, homeworks, and tests will be no problem if you show up to class. That is the key to success. The work will be very hard if you don't show up to class.
In class, he literally goes over everything that is going to be on the homework. There is actually quite a lot of homework and quizzes, but if you pay attention to his lectures you will get through the homework very quickly. Everyone who shows up to class does well on his quizzes. I highly reccomend Mr. Kwon.
Mr. Kwons class is very interactive, and participation is very much recommended. His style of teaching is very effective in helping students retain knowledge, and most of the students do so as a result. One of the best teachers I ever had the privilege of taking.
Kwon was a very good teacher. It might be intimidating at first by the amount of work that is handed out but he works with you through it and the work is EXTREMELY easy. Almost like no work at all. Easy A.
Want an easy class? Don't take this one. Want to actually work hard and earn your grade? Do take this class. You will get your moneys worth from Mr. Kwon. His lectures are actually educational and entertaining. You will have to study, but you will learn a lot! He grades everything on a curve, so you can get a good grade in his course if YOU TRY!
Mr. Kwon was awesome!!! I had him a few years ago and looking back, he made stats so easy yet fun at the same time. He was always so happy to answer questions during and after class. I am super grateful to have had the privilege to be one of his students.
What an awesome professor. Although his course can be challenging, his grading is fair and straightfoward. He always replies back immediately in his emails which is always a good thing for taking an online course. Better to take his course in class. Overall very A+ for the professor.
DO NOT take Mr. Kwon's 8 week Econ 103 course. Mr. Kwon is an ineffective, obnoxious, and snarky professor. Despite his frequent "subtle" mentions of his time teaching at USC, I can assure you that Mr. Kwon's teaching level is far from the caliber of such an institution. He structures the 8 week class in a (frankly) terrible way.
AWFUL AWFUL professor who always make his quizzes / tests extremely tricky and difficult. Seriously, avoid him as much as possible. If this is the only class that's available? Just wait until next semester to take different classes. Never clear on his answers in class or online class and ALWAYS twist everything so the book wouldn't help much.
Mr. Kwon is one of the most phenomenal professors I've ever had. His teaching style in general is one of the most effective i've ever seen. Everyone in my class loved him because of how he easy he was to talk to, and just overall a great guy who wants nothing but for you to succeed.
Too much work for an 8-week course. Basically self-taught myself as the class is hybrid. Lots of quizzes, lots of homework. Kwon knows his stuff but is limited because of time (and the 8-week course). I'm sure I'd critique differently if it was the 16-week course and Kwon can spread his wings and be the great teacher I know he probably can be.
Genuinely cares about teaching the material and makes you work for your grade. All the expectations are clear and it is up to you to be successful. You will spend hours studying but you WILL take away a lot from this course. If you value your time and learning take this course. If you want an easy A and to learn nothing, not for you.
I took the 8-week online course and it wasn't too bad. Be mindful of the deadline times! Most professors give you until the end of the day to submit the assignment... He does it differently. I definitely didn't submit an entire chapter's assignments and quiz, and I couldn't make it up. (Safe to say I didn't miss another assignment after that.)
I am a A and B+ student, I got my first C+ in his class. Professor Kwon's class was TERRIBLE, I would not recommend it. The exams/quizzes were hard, this professor has good review but he is TERRIBLE He has these conditionals that make NO SENSE! You need to get a D or higher on the final to pass his class with a B or A ... The final was HARD :(
I would NOT recommend this professor, stay away. His 8 weeks Econ class is very hard because he has conditionals, the mean for our final was an 11.5 out of 36. That being said you need a D or higher to get an A or B in his class. Stay away if possible...
Please be aware that this teacher is a very tough grader. If you do not use the right words, he will dock you points on discussions. There are 3 exams throughout the year, although you use the Lockdown browser for them and the Final exam has to be taken on campus (its a written test). Emailing him is a joke, he makes you 'ask the right questions'.
Professor Kwon is a good teacher. Took the 8 week course, his class is not impossible. It only takes time, dedication and effort to do good. I will admit it is a harder class compared to others. Yes he wants you to ask the right questions and does not allow for negation because he should, that is how you learn.
Kwon is rude, egotistical, and won't help when you E-mail him explaining your struggles. He grades you on written answers and expects you to "defend your college level answers". He's an awful professor. Do not take his class unless you want your GPA to suffer. It's not about how hard you study or how smart you are, he will belittle you.
Mr. Kwon is an amazing professor if you need extra help he is there for you. He takes the hardest material and teaches it in a way you can understand it. Hardest class I have ever taken, expect to work hard. You have to attend class to pass.
None of the tags can be applied to this prof. He doesn't give feedback, has very short window of online office hours. He gives quizzes on things that aren't covered in the material. He isn't clear about what he is looking for in the quizzes. And he insists you use that stupid lockdown browser that doesn't prevent cheating just messes up pc. AVOID.
Mr. Kwon wants his students to learn the material. He is one of the best professors that I've had in my entire college career, but I had to work hard to understand the concepts. He gives real life applications to the text, which made things more clear as opposed to reading the book by itself. Show up to class and pay attention to what he says!
Prof Kwon is a friendly, high-energy professor who cares about what he teaches. Hes very knowledgeable in economics and has no trouble conveying the material. You will have A TON of homework. Typically 3-4 assignments per chapter (1 chapter per week). There is one quiz every week. There are three exams (final is not cumulative).
Worst professors I've ever had during my college career. Assigns discussion questions which are absolutely ambiguous and follow no grading rubric. When grading the assignment he doesn't give any sort of feedback nor helpful insight on why the answer to the question was wrong. Instead writes "terrible answer" or "terrible math". Very belittling.
Professor Kwon is one of the best professors I had at CSN. I took Econ 102 and 261 with him. He provides all the resources needed for student to succeed. He is not taking attendance, but I would recommend not to miss a class because his lectures are really helpful. When I did not understand, Pr. Kwon always took time to explain it.
This professor has a power trip. He will make you feel bad if you don't understand and don't care if you fail. Don't read the good reviews either all of them are hos teacher pets stroking his ego to have them pass him. Everything is 15% across the board so if you fail one thing it's over. Also made fun of accounting professor @csn during class time
HARD CLASS! Be prepared to read and do a lot of studying! This professor assigns a lot of hw and a discussion before every chapter which is graded very aggressively. Gives small notecard for quiz and test. His teaching was very unorthodox and made it difficult to learn just from him, found it much easier to read the assign chapters from the book.
If you are trying to maintain a good GPA, DO NOT take his class. He really teaches but very tough in grading. If you can not explain EXACTLY what he wants in discussion, you fail. Exams are heavy too. But he really wants all of his students to actually learn what he teaches. Great guy but the class is so hard to pass.

I just finished his ECON 102 course and it was the hardest course I've taken so far. A large part of that is because he is a strict teacher. However, he makes it clear that he's strict because he wants us to actually learn the material rather than simple give us a grade, which I highly respect. He's charismatic and the lectures are enjoyable.
Me. Kwon takes his work seriously and expects you to do the same. Hes tired of students and teachers just coasting through life expecting an A for just showing up. Any bad review on Kwon is the type of person who refused to study and work hard. Students think they can just complain and theyll will get what they want in his class. Time to grow up.
I've had many professors and this is one of the first I can't stand. I don't like his attitude, his teaching style, or anything about this class. He is not clear on his expectations on assignments, unfair grading, and there is a TON of work that goes into this class. I would not recommend this professor. Trust me, it's his way or the highway!
Same comments from his 103 class. In his first lecture he warned the class how he may be offensive in his teaching style. Unclear on his expectations on assignments, unfair grading, a TON of work goes into this class. I would not recommend this professor.
Took the 8 week Econ 103 online because of covid. Lots of homework!!!!! Im missing days at work to try and maintain a passing grade in this class. Also records you taking exams and locks down your browser. Responds to emails within 24 hours.
This professor is honestly the first professor I have written a review about, only because I didnt like his teaching method. He can care less if your answers are correct, he wants you to show your work and makes it very complicated to turn in your homework online. He makes it very unnecessarily hard to pass. I dont recommend him at all.
10+ hours in busy work/ homework. Really tough grader, unclear expectations on assignments. The correct answer is NOT good enough. Condescending responses to answers. I wish I wouldve dropped it when I had the chance to. Ill have to retake the class. Hours of my life wasted!
Do not take. Luckily I was able to drop his class in time but now I will have to retake. The correct answer was not even good enough. Unnecessarily difficult with hours of work
Do not take. Luckily I was able to drop his class in time but now I will have to retake it. The way he grades was unnecessary, the correct answer was not even good enough.
I enrolled in the class and after the very first lecture I knew I would not mesh well with him and thankfully was able to withdraw and enroll in a different class. Best thing is that he is very upfront about how the class will be, so if you want a hard time he warns you!
DONT take this class if you wont take time to study. He is VERY much against cheating and literally brags about how hes gotten sued when he worked at USC because he reports cheating. This class is hard and when you ask for help he just tells you to study instead of actually explaining. His attitude doesnt make the learning environment feel safe
He cares about his students passing. He's passionate about the subject and makes sure you don't cheat. But he's so condescending that I feel like it's a burden to ask him about the material, and all students in my class felt scared to ask him a question. Makes everyone feel uncomfortable because he's a little rude and makes the students feel "dumb"
Taking a difficult class like stats feels nearly impossible when the professor refuses to help if you reach out struggling. Any question you have, you will get told "pay more attention to class/read the textbook". Records video of you taking tests. Ridiculous grading rubric for written response, no clear detail on what you did wrong. Waste of money
Mr. kwon is by far the worst Proffesor I have ever had . Im almost done with my degree and NONE of my past CSN Professors were as bad as him. When you ask him something about the material he NEVER answers your questions but just tells you to study more. IF YOU ARE STILL IN TIME TO DROP HIM PLEASE DO SO !! **WARNING ** WARNING** DROP HIM !
This professor is a poor teacher. Not only is the grading incredibly (INCREDIBLY) strict on short answers, he is not forgiving. He also celebrated when over half his class had dropped out, posting a "aren't you happy that the cheaters are gone?" post as if it was cheaters that dropped. This man is just simply awful in an online environment.
I had my ups and downs with the course and professor. This class is very challenging. His quizzes and short answers are all textbook based but not just word for word but in a way that you are understanding what you are reading. Just be ready to study lots and teach yourself through this course! Good-luck! Maybe he is better in-person than online!
This class with this professor was unnecessarily difficult. Expect to learn on your own, because his response to any questions will be to "read better." Even after learning the material, he will ask questions on the written response quizzes that you will not be prepared for, and grade super harshly. He will give zeros even for correct answers.
You can study hard and understand the material, but explain an answer different than he wants and still get questions wrong on the short answer quizzes (even if the answer itself is correct). I took 102 at the same time with a different professor, and excelled in similar topics that I was getting zeros in for this class. Ridiculous grading criteria
Okay first off Mr. Kwon rounded my low D toa C because I participated during lectures and didn't drop the class like half of our class ended up doing. He's a caring professor who answers emails almost immediately with good and helpful responses. If you're good at learning by yourself and willing to put in a TON of work, take the class ifnot, don't.
Super hard grader but can use all printed notes which is the only reason I passed. I say buy the paper copy of the book. There is a summary after each chapter that helps immensely. If you don't want a headache after each assignment do yourself a favor... just pick a different teacher.
He rounded my d to a b so I'm not mad. He's a pretty chill teacher but a real tough grader on the work it outs. I suggest getting the paper textbook because you can use printed notes and it's the only reason I passed. Be sure to look at the wio in the chapter ending. they're important!!!!!!
I'm begging you DONT ENROLL in this clown's class. First class EVER that I would cry over constant stress. Got 10% on written midterm. I retook stats over the summer with another professor and got an A. He's a narcissist n will treat you like garbage/like you're dumb if you ask ANY question. He says 50% of his class drops each semester, wonder why
Mr. Kwon makes you feel like an idiot. I met with him twice and each time he talked to me like I was a baby, this man writes horrible comments on our tests making us feel less than. He also fails to recognize that the whole grade has failed and blames it on us instead of attempting different teaching methods. my friends have come back crying after.
absolutely horrific professor who does not deserve to work at this school. i am absolutely sickened by how someone can treat their students so poorly and still hold their job. please stay far away from this class
Economics isn't the easiest discipline to become familiar with, but Mr. Kwon is extremely skilled in teaching this subject. He encourages students to ask questions, and goes out of his own way to simplify everything. After only one lecture you'll be able to tell that he is truly passionate about economics. Take this class!
This class is certainly difficult. I wish he would have given us extra credit or something to help boost our grades. No matter how much I understood the content, I still struggled. Would not recommend.
He was the toughest professor I've ever taken, but his teaching set the foundation for me to succeed in subsequent classes, especially in econ. His class is not for everyone. But if you want to succeed, you'll need to put in a lot of work. Study the material and ask questions. I recommend a study group.
This course was one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken throughout my college career. All the work was stressful and extremely difficult to understand. However, he does curve some assignments. As well as quickly replies to email. Overall, do not take this course unless you have time to devote hours of studying.
Very fair in grading, answers any and all questions efficiently & in a timely manner. Provides all of the tools needed to succeed and reminds students often on assignments due to keep everyone on track
He is a great teacher if you just apply yourself and do the homework as instructed. His lectures and his style of teaching are perfect for leading you to success on the tests he gives daily and per unit. Although, I can see how his lecture heavy teaching method and his expectations aren't suitable to everyone's learning style.
This class is seriously tough, but the professor cares about students passing. He's strict on cheating, so you'll need to put in the work. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for my exam prep - made a huge difference.
This teacher is not the best and relies heavily on you to learn the information by yourself outside of class.
