I highly recommend this instructor. Upfront he clearly states the criteria for the class, gives numerous practice worksheets. Excellent at explaining difficult topics. No-nonsense in the beginning, but warms up as you go. Do the work & you will succeed. Those who didn't like him in my class were those who whined alot, acted like children.

A challenging but an extremely knowledgeable and helpful professor. He will preface the first day of class by saying he only expects 2 As. Dont take him!! He's really into science and speaks in a very technical language which makes him hard to follow. He doesn't break things done enough for you to get the concept. His lectures are really quickly because we have to cover many things in only 50 minutes. Most of our homework is on mastering. About the tests, I think multiple choices sections are the tough once. You need to fully understand the materials to able to answer. The math sections are not that hard. If you understand his example, you're good to go!

I found his class to be extremely difficult. Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. 80% of your grade tests which you only get 3 (not including the final.) He's really rude sometimes. I'm taking him again next semester because he's the only good chem prof.

You either love him or hate him. He is a tough grader and moves quickly in lecture. All the mastering homework was due at the end of the semester and he gives extra credit. He is nice but didn't work for me so I took the class again with another professor.

He goes way to fast and expects you to learn while he is fast and if you have a question sometimes and ignores you I couldn;t even understand him in lab it was not a great experience.

PRINT OUT THE POWERPOINTS he posts them all online, print them out and use them to take notes on and it will save you so much grief. It feels like he goes really fast sometimes but its because he packs a huge amount of information into a class. He doesn't take attendance for lecture but if you don't go or don't pay attention to them you wont pass

I decided to take biochem with professor M because I took general chem with him and he was very helpful and clear. However, I did not feel the same way about this class. This was a challenging course, and whenever I would go to office hours, he would kick me out of his office and tell me no graduate program would want me if I asked questions.

I took this class online, it was very very easy. 1 discussion and 2 responses (always gave 100% even if responses weren't done), 1 virtual lab a week. 3 tests, 1 midterm and 1 final exam. All tests/exams are open notebook. The discussions were very straight forward and could find all of the answers on google or by watching a short video he provided

The class he teaches is difficult and requires a lot of time. He knows its hard but also knows all it takes is time and effort to do well. He is willing to help and will do multiple different examples to help you understand. However, if you dont do the work and meet him half way he doesnt care if you fail.

One of the best professors I have had. Extremely passionate about chemistry and loves to engage in science related discussion. If you take the time to work hard and ask questions, you will do great.

I have taken Magiliton for both Chem 1 and 2 and both times he has been a great professor. He is clear on how he grades and is thoughtful on how he teaches. Lots of homework but does offer extra credit time to time, He also takes time after class to go over anything you may not understand and explains concepts thoroughly. Overall a great teacher.

This professor is very supportive, which was very nice considering Chemistry is a difficult subject to tackle. If you want to be successful you should show up to lab every week, but even if you have to miss you can make up the lab outside of class and still receive some credit for it. Just put in some effort and you'll be fine.

I had him over the summer, and I thought that he was a great professor for the labs. The class can be difficult if you do not do the homework carefully and understand why you do the steps you do. Labs are super easy and honestly kind of fun.

On the first day of class, Professor Magilton scared about half the class into dropping out. Do not be intimidated, you will be fine. He is quite understanding and funny. His lectures weren't mandatory, but I would suggest attending them because they are helpful. Use the SRC if you need more help.

Had him for Gen Chem I. He was good and super chill, just went very fast in lectures and I didn't understand his teaching as well, however, now comparing his class with other science professors I've had, I definitely appreciate him and his teaching much more. Every assignment is online, other than the labs but you hand those in online too.

Had him for both Gen Chem I and II. Gen Chem II was hybrid. The class is super easy, the schedule is very clear, and his personal grading is not particular. He uses Pearson and Mastering for all assignments, which are not my favorite but they could be worse. He's super chill and does not care much about little things, he only cares that we succeed.

Took Prof Magilton's class for Prep Chem and Gen Chem 1, prep online and Gen in person. Lectures were short and non-mandatory (under 45 min), labs were a bit longer and mandatory (1-1.5hr). He is pretty funny and definitely a good teacher. Usually one HW and short Quiz a week and one Lab. Pretty east stuff if you like chem. Would take again.
