Pretty good teacher, annoying habit of getting chalk all over himself
Knows what he's talking about, but talks fast and has scattered notes.

I'd recommend him for anybody
really good teacher
Very helpful. Good teacher
Great teacher-Great guy, i plan to take many of his classes in the future
hard to follow in class very unclear
Extremely approachable, always willing to help!!! Talks fast, but will repeat.
A really really great teacher. it's a hard course, but he'll help you
A really really great teacher. it's a hard course, but he'll help you
Nice guy, but hard to follow, and yes, he eats chalk
Horrible. Needs to retire. Class/tests are a joke. Read the book and you learn more. Go to class to hear incorrect info b/c he tests on that.
Quiz every week on complete chapters, you won't have organized notes, goes extremely fast, chalk everywhere.
His lectures at times are a little confusing, but go to his office hours, he is more than willing to help and you learn much more much easier that way. If you do this, he also sees that you really care,I didn't deserve the grade I got, he was verylenient
watch out for the chalk. can be disorganized on the board but EXTREMELY approachable and if you read the book and go to lecture you will do fine. He knows his stuff. just study. I loved this class
He is a great teacher biology understandable;however his writing on the board is unorganized but if you read the book and attend lecture you will be fine
very difficult to understand, goes WAYYYYYYY to fast and doesnt explain information in a way students can understand. Lives in a Chalk Box
Extremely hard, way disorganized, covers himself in chalk. He tests material that is irrevelant and not in the book just to do it.
Good teacher, knows his stuff. You will be fine if you read the book and attend lecture. Labs are required or a 20page paper if you miss one. Always covered in chalk but very approachable

Chalk comments are too true. Loads of material given in class, not that clear, but much clearer if you go to office hours. Unsure why he doesn't teach the same way in class. Fairly lenient grader with me.
I enjoyed his class. Gave very helpful information. Knows his stuff. Tests aren't the easiest, but if you study you'll do fine. Approach him outside of class and he'll help you understand and is also much nicer outside of the classroom.
HE DEF ALWAYS HAS CHALK ON HIM ITS SOO FUNNY. Hes a good teacher knows his stuff but he scatters things on the board. Can come off a little moody. Not the easiest grader, but an overall good teacher.
he knows his stuff he just goes fast. disorganized on the board, but very nice and helpful if you ask questions. a bit in his own world when not teaching and always has chalk on him and READ THE BOOK!!!
he is definantly the chalk master. his writing isn't the best on the bord but ask questions and he'll answer them. must study for test. attendance not mandatory to lecture but is to labs or 20 page paper!
He isnt an easy teacher to start with but is very easy to approach if you need help and he will help you with no problem at all. kind of a confusing class, be prepared to see him wear a lot of chalk during the semester
AWESOME! I really enjoyed his class. Extreemly helpful.
class is hard, but he'll work with you and is available to answer questions
He always comes into class looking like he just walked through a lagoon.. and yes it's true about the chalk all over himself. His lectures are all over the board...not very clear hand writing...
I hate Biology. Hate it, hate it, hate it. But he made it not so bad. The chalk thing is definitely true though. lol.
He was the worst teacher I have had so far in college not to mention he is covered in chalk, I think he eats chalk because its all over his face and ubiquitus dark green sweat-shirt.
Nice guy.good sense of humor. very sarcastic, unclear and loves to intimidate. chalk everywhere, messy, UNORGANIZED!!!! bad presenter of information. knows his stuff but can't teach it to save his life. Gives quizzes 2minutes before you leave class
He is very nice PERSON, but as a teacher, DO NOT TAKE HIM hes not that clear in classes and tests are harder then he says it is
Worse teacher ever. His lectures are so confusing and they aren't even on the chapters he tells you to read. Most of my classes dropped out. Definetely drop out-worse teacher.
Genetics is hell and Mechling is satan!!!
the chalk is absolutley unbelievable...it completely makes up for the hard parts in his classes. One of my all time favorite teachers!!!
Mechling is the MAN!!!! I love him. I just wish i could have him for more classes.
Made Genetics confusing for me. Was elated to pass with a C. Quizes were hard yet exams were easy. Don't be fooled by the open book final! It was impossible!!!
Really nice guy, but genetics is a hard class so studying is required. Final will rock your world, no joke. Very approchable, truly the clalk master.

Not a good teacher, can not explain things well. I suggest taking another professor, unless you enjoy getting C's.
The chalk thing is def. true, and he made me laugh at how strange he is. But I liked him and I would take him for genetics. Although, he does need a belt...
Odd class... odd teaching... Odd teacher... Odd
He definitely knows his material. He will answer questions, but he can be a bit short-tempered around those who don't understand. He's not the most organized person in the world. Reading the book will help tremendously!
Extremely nice guy, but unorganized (and smells a bit), but knows his stuff and is an alright teacher. Word of advice: Never look at him when his back is towards you and he bends down!!!
His lectures can be confusing...,but only if you fail to read the text.Mechling is a good guy,and he will do all he can to help you. The best advice for his classes: listen to the lecture, take notes, and then read the text.
TERRIBLE TEACHER!
This professor is DEFINITELY getting more organized. Your best bet for genetics,he will go out of his way to help you.. he'll go as far as re-explaining the whole lecture.. VERY helpful.
Truly a GREAT guy.. soo helpful and nice and just easy going. He'll drop a test,if u go to his office hours or ask him something he wont let u go till u understand.. he once re-lectured a whole class for me just coz I didn't get it. AWESOME
MECHLING IS THE BEST! I absolutely love him and would take him again in a heart beat. Nicest guy ever, and will go out of his way for you. quizzes are easy and so are the tests. you gotta read the book and he will go over any problem for you, TAKE HIM!!
Nice teacher. He defiantly know the material. He will go over anything you don’t understand more then once. He will help you outside of class if you still need help. Even dropped my lowest test grade to help my grade. Tests are really hard…quizzes are somewhat hard. He is defiantly a hard teacher.
He is very unorganized, but if you know your bio his class isn't that hard. Just be sure to take organized notes because he isn't!
I love william mechling. he is a very hard teacher but he will help you succeed in anyway possible. He definetly plays favorites so act interested and asks lots of questions. i failed the final and a test and i still got a b-. ps he loves chalk.
Mechling is the man! I had him for Biol 201 also. He is really nice and willing to help you out. He isn't always the most organized and is much better at teaching 201...but he still rocks!
WORST TEACHER IN TOWSON half the class dropped half way through the class-- can't teach worth of ****. Also was my advisor said I oughta change my plans, b/c I did not have straight A's
Didn't like him at first, but by the end of the semester, I loved him. He can be confusing, but as long as you're not afraid to make him slow down and explain whatever you didn't get, you'll do fine. It definately helps to do the practice problems he assigns. I put in maybe an hour each week outside of class and ended up with a B+. optional final.
Some people love him, others found him confusing... I think he was great!!! Extremely nice and helpful as well.
He knows the material but cannot convey to the students. I went to him after class for help and he said what you really need is confidence to pass-what? no, i need answers! More than half the class dropped within 2 weeks.
What an adventure I had in his class, for as long as I stayed. Had straight A's until I hit his class. He was so confussing that I had no choice but to withdraw before it affected my GPA, know what I mean? I decided that it was better to take another teacher who could break it down better. Nice guy, but too smart for the rest of us.
NEVER TAKE THIS TEACHER IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE THE SEMESTER WITHOUT STRESS!!! His lectures are extremely unclear. Quizzes every week with trick questions. You'll think you've studied and are ready for the tests, but you're not because the test material is stuff you've never even learned. PLEASE AVOID HIM!!!
The chalk king. He's somewhat unorganized, but very enthusiastic about teaching. He'll give a lot of help, you just need to ask. I recommend him, only if you're willing to work hard and you have a love for biology.
Course content is already difficult enough, but this guy made it really confusing.Got B's on tests/quizzes could be really tricky, but he drops the lowest 5.Nice guy but if u can i suggest u avoid him
MECHLING IS THE MAN, ENOUGH SAID!
Well most people don't like him. I thought he was really cool. He is a little chaotic but i can't imagine genetics being linear and easy. He leaves the door open for students that care. expect a journey for discovering the pathways of infinite probabilities. its all a puzzle.
Every lecture was interesting - almost entertaining! He randomly calls on people all the time. It's kind of like being on a game show, and definitely keeps you awake. Tests were mostly fair but sometimes included strange essay questions. Take good notes and use them.
mechling is really funny. if you miss one class you will be completely lost. the text book, the quizzes, the test, and his lecture are all completely different from eachother. but if u go to class EVERY day and take notes, you should do ok. he is very willing to give extra help.
People who are lazy and like it the easy way hate him, but he's really cool and knows the subject very well. If you want to learn something for real in college, he's highly recommeneded! Work hard, and it'll all pay off.
I don't understand why anyone would not like Mechling. He is one of the fairest teachers at Towson. I have had him for quite a few classes now and MECHLING IS THE MAN! Very funny too!!!!
I can honestly say he is toughest grader I've had in 4 years at TU. He is extremely disorganized when it comes to lectures. He runs over the class period on avg. about 10-15 mins. The quizzes and tests are sometimes impossible, most people are happy to get close to passing. I honestly don't know why anyone would give him a good rating.Dont take him.
wow, he is just a bad teacher. the people that gave good ratings must study 20-24 hours a day. good luck. you probably won't have a choice anyway most of the time. I didn't, he was the only one teaching genetics.
There are 7 people in my class retaking it from last semester because they failed his course before. I think that should tell you a little about his grading.
DIFFICULT!!!! Quizes are ridiculous, tests are a little better (answer 7 of 10 long questions). Talks WAY too fast during lectures, as if you already know the material and he's quickly reviewing. Though, he is extremely helpful outside of class if you have any questions. You need to study and/or get tutoring to get a decent grade.
Run for you life! This was the hardest class I've taken at TU. Extremely dissorganized and dull course, I studied more for this than any other course and I'm a senior bio. major. Do not take this prof.!
People who are good at logic puzzles will do well in his class. That is really all that the tests are. Yes the tests are based on genetics principles but he will not teach problem solving. If you are not a logics puzzles person, your only hope is to get copies of old tests and work all of the problems. 8 people in my class were repeating
hard class. you have to study lots... but its genetics its probably not supposed to be the easiest class. do the assigned problems and the test it managable and go to recitation so he'll answer your questions. quizzes help some.
He sucks! He is a jerk does not help anyone and is a complete control freak. I think he is on a power trip, he acts like we are in highschool, hello!?! Stay away! He makes you want to scream!
WOW..this is the most ridiculous class ever. Mechling can be amusing at times but the constant failing that you will experience with not make you laugh. Has anyone mentioned that throughout each class he covers himself in yellow chalk dust?Hilarious. He will always run class over sometimes more than 1/2 hour longer. take someone else if you can.
Terrified to actually take this class, but so glad he was my professor. He's enthusiastic, is willing to explain everything, although his office hours are difficult. Contact him before-hand to meet with him. Exams graded with partial credit. LOVED the material-hope to have him for another class.
flat out genius
There is no chance for error...study for hours and hours and ace the tests or you will do poorly.. there are 4 exams and 4 labs, and thats it...not other oppotunities for points. He is an unclear speaker and writer...avoid if possible!
Hard material, fast paced class, but he will go out of the way to help you if you put the effort in. No attendance policy, but it's best if you go to every class. His notes are messy, but he will slow down and re-explain if you ask him to. A hard, but do-able class overall.
He is a good professor. He is a little disorganized and jumps from topic to topic, but he knows what he is talking about. He will help you if you don't understand too. The book will help explain things if they are a little hazy. But he is very good! Don't take this class if you don't want to work a little.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! Labs are a pain, but passable. The reports need to be perfect novel though with no mistakes if you ever want an A. He is super confusing and doesn't tell you what he is teaching. He'll explain things in depth, but you don't know what he's explaining. If you're stuck with him, go to every class and read before! I picked a W over F.
The teaching is backwards, even working hard makes a smart student feel stupid. Talking to him is useless as he is not willing to help students nor accomodate learning abilities.
Hard, but do-able class overall... lecture material and book material are completely different. You HAVE to study or else forget it. Seems like an ass in lecture, but if you go to him outside of class he is very helpful. He's a jerk about asking questions. Avoid him if possible, but most of the time he's the only prof teaching Genetics.
I was very disappointed in this class. This was the worst class I have ever taken. Lectures are not clear, and students are tested on material not covered in class. I would recommend taking another professor if possible.
Mechling is the worst professor I have had thus far in my college career. He is disorganized and he can not convey the material whatsoever. He also does not care about his students and whether they are learning the material or not. He ignores you if he believes your questions are pointless. If you can avoid him, make sure you do.
I can't recommend this class or professor. I found this class to be difficult, the lectures and material covered in class did not match the material on the exam. Overall it was a frustrating experience and I woudl recommend taking the course only if you absolutely have to, and with another professor if you can.
All in all, a tough but fair class-study hard and use the old tests as study guidelines. If you generally enjoy genetics, Mechling is the guy for you-he conveys enthusiasm in his own way that not everyone can appreciate. If he mentions something in class, know it backwards and forwards (good advice no matter which class you take)!
I had him for genetics and honestly all in all this was a very hard course for me, primarily because the professor goes over the materail really fast and assumes u know what he just went over right there and then. I would NOT recommend him at all. He gives u a quiz every week and keep the top 10 grades for them and has 3 exams and a final.
Don't take him. Lab is the worst and he's far from helpful. You can ask him a questiona and he will just ask u a question right back about wat u just asked him...obviously u wont kno the answer.and if u dont have a choice but to take the class read the book...thats the only way i am passing... barely passing at that.
this teacher is the worst ive ever had in my life time! there is no half credit anything... its either right or wrong. and its hard to understand what hes saying and he doesnt keep the notes up on the board long enough for you to copy them down. he goes through everything very fast.
Mechling is intelligent when it comes to biology, but not so much when it comes to teaching. Notes seemed all over the place and if I hadn't taken general bio the semester before I probably would have no idea what he's talking about. Basically, he teaches straight from the text. Tests were pretty difficult. Lecture was not mandatory, but lab was.
Genetics is not an easy subject. Yes it is a hard class but Mechling gives you more than enough opportunities to succeed. He drops half your quiz scores, and there is extra credit on every quiz and exam! I am glad I took him, I feel that I was challenged and learned a lot. If you can't pass this class maybe you should consider changing your major!
I took Genetics with Mechling back in 1991. Funny how it seems that most had the same lousy experience that I did way back then. I failed his class, but refused to retake it since he was the only teacher. The good news is that I'm in the Biotechnology industry now making 2X what Bill is. For me, this is what Karma is all about.
he is the worst teacher i would NEVEr recommend him! I'm not even done with the course yet and i want it to be over111
i dont think ppl are being fair. lab is "mandatory" but 2 of mine were optional, tests aren't hard if you study, he curved one of them to a 64% being a C, his class wasn't at all as bad as i thought it would be, just pay attention
His notes are everywhere, he talks very fast, his writing is incomprehensible sometimes. He gave three exams in addition to a final, so one grade won't make or break you completely. You come out of the class at the end of the semester learning a lot, but you come out of class saying "What just happened?"
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. PERIOD! He is the worst teacher, you will walk out of classes and tests not knowing anything, frustrated and confused. Terrible handwriting, straight up jerk. If you ask a question he is rude and treats you like you are stupid, and he doesnt even answer the question. PLEASE do not take him, i wish i could get him fired.
AVOID AT ALL COST!! This teacher is absolutely horrible! You have four test and four labs as your grades, test are confusing and he doesnt explain ANYTHING!! He was useless when asking questions and I wish I got out a lot sooner! Do not take!
He is a very smart guy, he knows his stuff, but has no idea how to actually teach. The tests were extremely hard, his lectures were confusing and were all over the place.
WHAT THE CRAP ok its funny cuz its a fact that half of my class dropped. to be fair, its not IMPOSSIBLE to pass, but pretty darn hard. You can't hear him so sit in the front and you can't read his handwriting so read the book. DO avoid him if you can. If not, you will have to work very hard i'm sorry.
Mechling was REALLY hard...He is sooo unclear. Not very helpful outside of class either. Save yourself time and money and dont take him
Most comments are true. However, he does know his stuff. He tries to answer questions in lecture, but is pretty bad at it. But if you ask him something during lab or office hours, he's pretty good at explaining things. Yes, the tests are god awful. Avoid him if you can, but he is passable for bio 201.
This guy is absolutely horrible. I cannot understand a word he writes. I thought in America we read from left to right. This guy is seriously all over the place, and you cant read a damn thing. If you ask him about anything, he just looks at you like youre an idiot. Come on man, this is genetics. If I didnt value my future, Id kick him in the nuts
The worst teacher I ever had. He deviates from the subject of the class alot. In one lecture he started talking about immunology when chapter in the book was on gene heredity and gene mutation. Read the book, it's very hard to follow his lectures. Attend all classes to at least some notes. I don't recommend this teacher. Avoid at all costs.
I have a 4yr. bio degree from WCU and need to take this class for a cert. program. He is the wort prof. I have ever had.
Definitely knows his biology, but a lot of times too much so. His lectures are horrible; he scribbles on plain paper and projects it for the class (it looks like chicken scratch, can't understand). Lab reports kinda suck, but they're group projects and his TA teaches lab. Study, study, study. And study the text some more and you should be good.
Awful! I need this class for a gen ed and I'm not going to pass. Genetics is not an easy topic and even the bio majors in my lab are having difficulties. He talks so low that you can here anything but a mumble in class and he scribbles so you can't even read what he's saying. Awful!Do not take unless you want to drive yourself crazy!
If you have a choice, don't take this professor! His teaching style makes no sense!
Worst teacher you will ever have!!! Lectures consist of him writing random words on sheets of paper. Talks at a low mumble so noone can hear what hes saying. Cummulative final which is completley unfair for the way he taught the class. Probably the laziest professor I've had. Decided to teach entire lecture of new material day before final.
The worst teacher in towson university. I mean he is an OK man, but when it comes to actually teaching, he is Horrible. His lectures are ridiculous. He speaks very very low, his hand writing is all scribble and he even smells. In all seriousness, I got a better grade on his exam actually not coming to class and teaching myself from the textbook.
dont take him! everyone else is correct about him and his class. He's not a good teacher, his writing is illegible, his lectures are ineffective at teaching the material. just avoid him
If I wasn't concerned about the student body at Towson before, I am now...This class is not difficult. If you listen during class, take thorough notes, read the book and review the study guide before exams you will do fine. So he speaks fast..stop whining and grow up. Take fast notes. Good professor for students that work, not to mention his curve.
Nice guy, but not good at teaching. He talks too fast and mumbles. He flip flops from one topic to the next. His scribbling on the Elmo is hard to follow. Unless you're very good at focusing on auditory instruction over visual or don't mind teaching yourself the material, he's not the instructor for you.
this guy really can't teach. his "notes" are a disgrace to humanity, and he's not that helpful. you don't have to come to class, but labs are mandatory. if you miss a lab, 20 page paper automatically. no questions. i never missed, but still i think its ridiculous. tests were hard and in a weird format. bottom line, avoid if you can!!!
He's a very intelligent guy but I don't think he knows how to teach very well at all. He just has no organization with his lectures.
Terrible professor
I think people are too hard on him. He does mumble a little bit and is unorganized during his lectures; however, he is always willing to help outside of class. Go to recitation, it'll help. A good grade is not impossible. He made the final optional. I had an A so I didn't have to take it. Study from the practice exams and you'll be golden.
I am an A-B student but i had to take a W in this class because I couldn't follow this teacher. He is all over the place like my A.D.D. Study out of text he says then quiz is totally different. Heard the tests are so crazy.
Lecture notes are confusing. It looks like chicken scratch. He moves way too fast. I tried to keep up by reading the material at home but I was lost. I wish there was more than just one professor teaching this course.
He is an ok person, but he literally cannot teach. His writing is illegible and doesn't speak up and he rambles on incomprehensibly. Definitely need a new teacher to actually teach the course correctly. Avoid if you can, by far the worst teach bio teacher at Towson.
This class really is not that bad at all. Yet he does chicken scratch but he is more than willing to help and he goes over the notes from the previous class to make sure the students understand. If you pay full attention in class his test come right from his notes. people are just lazy.
Okay.... So most of these comments are from people who dropped out, didn't read the book, and didn't ask questions. Mechling will go over every problem he assigns (even twice!) if you ask. Students need to make themselves accountable and not THE BIG BAD PROF. I enjoyed this class thoroughly and felt challenged in a good way. Study and participate!
DROP THIS CLASS NOW!!!!! IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SMART AND CAN TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, TRUST YOU NOT... DONT TAKE HIM...
Hes really not that bad of teacher. If you try to follow his notes and read the book youll be fine.
DO NOT take Mechling for Genetics. Class notes have zero structure, and exams do not follow the problems given as practice assignments. The book is very little help for the way you are asked to apply the information on the exam. Incredibly too much effort required for very little reward at the end. Avoid at all costs.
Overall he is not a horrible teacher. This is my 2nd time taking the course so i cant say if i was challened or not.He is helpful with any questions.I hated how he would go over class time and expects you to stay until 9:15 when class is 6-850. If you pay attn and follow along in the text the "study guide" may be of some help.He isnt too bad.
fantastic, just listen in class and do problems and u should do fine
The worst professor I have ever had. He will just scribble on some paper and that will be the notes for the class. I do not recommend him for genetics
easy A
I don't agree with his teaching techniques, but for all those people who say he is an automatic fail, they are wrong. Go to class and follow in the book, DO THE BOOK PROBLEMS, use the practice test, and use the book website for solutions to the problems. helps a ton...it's not easy but it's not impossible either...
Mechling is all over the place. Overall, BIO 201 is a hard, and he makes it even harder. You never know what will be on the tests so study EVERYTHING. He cuts out random stuff that you may spend hours studying. Attendance not mandatory, but alot of the test is from his lectures. You can get a C or B if you study hard.. Idk if an A is managable..
He is without a doubt the worst professor i have had to endure at Towson. His notes consist of him scribbling on a piece of paper and then taking it away before you can copy it. If you take him, be prepared to teach yourself the ENTIRE course because that's the only way you'll pass.
Mechling is an absolutely brilliant human being. His ability to recall information, as well as the depth of a subject/process he can delve into is beyond most professors at Towson. His teaching style does consist of scratch marks on the projection screen. Just PAY ATTENTION and ENGAGE yourself & ASK QUESTIONS! You don't want to miss a class.
If you can read scribble, this is the class for you. He's a very low and fast talker, his teaching style is more of hearing himself speak rather than engaging the students in the lessons. Find another professor.
Ok, his notes are scribble and you are better off sitting in the front to hear him clearly. But exams are based on the practice problems and more often than not the ones he goes over in recitation. If you're not falling asleep in lecture you can keep up notetaking just fine and he follows the book. It's hard work but a passable, interesting class.
Mr. Mechling is one of the worst teachers you could possibly have. Every bad review you see here is true. He is highly unorganized, his tests are impossibly confusing and his class is just an overall mess. AVOID HIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS. For 309, which is a difficult course, if you take Mechling, you are sealing your doom.
All i have to say is horrible. Nice guy but his teaching is absolutely horrible. All over the place. Scribbles on paper. Hes tests are long and you cant even finish them within 1.5 hours. Aviod him. This guy makes me feel like a failure cause I can barely pass....semester isn't even over for me.
He is the ABSOLUTE WORST professor! TERRIBLE!!! Dont take his courses!!! Scribbles, mumbles, exams are impossible. half of the class for genetics dropped before the mid term! Exams are UNCLEAR, and absolutely impossible to finish within the given time.
It's true: he mumbles & he scribbles & his humor can be acerbic. On t'other hand, he's brilliant at statistics: from raw data to first principles to slick solving shortcuts in one lecture. You MUST also do the problems:it's all cumulative, and the problems are based on drill, and just reading and depending on your steel-trap recall is not enough.
Read the textbook and do the problems at the end of the chapter. Not difficult if you attend class and recitation. Quiz just about every week on text problems. Tests are just like sample tests he gives. Takes the time to know his students. All around great professor. I recommend taking him
This is not an easy class, you need to be prepared to do work. If you don't it is your fault, not his. He is extremely helpful though, will answer any question you have as many times as you need. It is true he is hard to understand in lecture, but if you take notes, read the book and do the problems in the book you will be fine.
Mechling is one of the worst bio teachers I've had at Towson. His notes are scribbles with no structureorganization and he mumbles a lot. Sometimes practice tests help, sometimes they don't. He tries to help, but many times he just comes off rude and condescending. Good luck if you get stuck with him
This prof. was possibly the worse one I have had. He was so incredibly condescending to students, and I feel like I have learned nothing other than specific problems this semester. If you have the misfortune to take this prof, DO NOT skip recitation ever. If you enjoy memorizing pointless numbers and being insulted; this is the teacher for you.
Here is the scoop with this professor. Genetics is a tough class and there are many little details to remember. He has been teaching this class for quite sometime so he does tend to move a little fast but he is very knowledgeable. He offers office hours and i would highly recommend them. learned a lot in the office. Don't be scared to take him.
hey are ya looking for a good professor? Do you wanna pass genetics? WELL DON'T TAKE MECHLING. If you could use his class notes during tests and quizzes you would STILL fail. He is a horrible horrible horrible professor and takes notes like a 2 year old who needs to use the bathroom.
By far one of the toughest classes I've had to take so far. This is not an easy course and if you are not prepared (take a few biology classes before jumping into genetics), it will be more tough. He is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable, so pay attention, read the book, and study the quizzes.
This is a teacher who says there are such things as stupid questions. If you ask a question, be prepared to feel like a moron for asking and he will then make the explanation even worse than before. He strictly prefers making you do math problems and you don't actually learn much genetic material.
