Dr. Nirode is the BEST!! Hes very helpful and nice. He truly loves what he does and cares for the class. Doesnt curve exams but curves the class average in the end. I had an 85 average and got an A-. My friend had a 71 average and got a B so hes mad cool.
pretty good teacher... he is very easy with the grading but make sure you go to class
goes a little quick. test grading is so easy, no suprises.. he will give u points for just writing down jibberish. extrememly helpful at office hours.. he likes when u go, wants his students to do well, very funny and sarcastic.. not to mention sooo hot

You get an F-
Dr.Nirode helps make chemistry bearable. totally willing to help if youre struggling, but doesnt make you feel stupid. adds jokes and pictures to help lecture be more fun.. seriously, just an all around nice guy and good teacher.
First, so hot. Always helpful when you need it. (hot!) Only teaches early though. Easily accessable.
i couldnt have picked a better teacher for my first chem class. i came into it hating it, and find myself actually enjoying lecture. He is constantly helping me, but doesnt make me feel stupid. VERY fair grader. i have a b- and i am a chemistry SPAZ. seriously, its worth the early class. TAKE HIM!!!
Because I know Dr. Nirode checks this for his daily ego boost, I thought I'd give him a run for his money... and also Props for being intelligent and funny. But no props for KNOWING how sexy he is.
He is very unhelpful in the sense that if you needed an 85 to keep a certain gpa but you only had an 84 he would notch the grade up 1 point to help you out. He treats his class to strictly as well. And he definetly gets intimidated by other guys. Acts nice to girls/tough guy to guys. One word-DI*K

He teaches very well and is very clear. He will always answer questions... He's awesome!

Definitely a good professor. He knows what he's talking about, and he's hilarious ... even at 8:30 in the morning! He sounds sort of like Ray Romano too :) If you're not into chem but you wanna give it a try OR if you love it, GET HIM!!

This Professor was not only sexy and cute... but he was a GREAT professor that kept the class interested in the subject and he was also very helpful whenever i needed help for lecture or lab... Take him, because he is one of the BEST!!
Nirode is awesome! he's funny too so class isn't boring. as a matter of fact, his class is the only one i don't fall asleep in! i think he's hepful, so thats always a plus. overall, i think he's a good teacher.

Nirode is the by far the best chem prof out there. It doesn't hurt that he is so hot!
I had Nirode for 2 semesters. He was the best professor I ever had! He is super funny so the class is never boring (EVEN MONDAY MORNINGS) and he's always around if you need extra help. He even gets to know all of his students individually which is amazing!

He is a joker and will work with a student to make sure he or she knows the material well and can get a decent grade. He is always in his office during hours. He prefers early classes, like 8 am
Dr. Nirode is a decent teacher. It doesn't hurt of course that he's lovely to stare at. However, he does at times get a little cocky, as he seems to be full of himself...if you study hard and make chem a priority, you will do fine. Oh, and if you find it impossible to resist impersonating him, do it BEHIND his back or he'll kinda hate you!!haha:P
Ehhh...
Dr. Nirode seriously is the best teacher i have ever had. quant isnt the easiest class but he does his best to make it interesting and fun. he is so helpful and is always there to help. Tests are always fair and so is his grading....basically take him for any chem class you can
Funny, great professor. Sometimes goes through material rather quickly but review powerpoints and copy problems he does on the board for better understanding. On exams if you don't know a question WRITE something, he'll prob give you some credit. VERY fair grader. Take him!
Nirode is great! Just don't get him mad or else he'll fly through the material on purpose. Hardly ever used the textbook expect to do a few practice problems. On tests if you don't know a question or your running out of time write anything - he WILL give you points (very very fair grader). Participate in class and study power points and notes!
Real cool teacher.
He explains things very well. Very fair grader. Gives weekly quizzes, which were good because they made you review every week and the stuff didn't all pile up before an exam. Slides are on-line. I did need the textbook for help on a few topics. Pretty sure I lost a few points for missing a couple classes. Don't be late. Definitely recommended.
best person, teacher, best everything. the coolest guy in the world, really relates to his students, always willing to help, very clear in everything he says... can't say enough good things about him.
Great guy, pretty cute, helpful, nice, funny... what more can you ask for? :P
first of all, so hot!!! good teacher, really helpful. really fair grader. get him. ps, sit towards the front and to the left side of the room...you'll get a great view, especially if hes going over a powerpoint
okay so I had this class 8AM and he wanted us to respond to his jokes or whatnot. NOT HAPPENING. so he got pissed off often and took it out on us by making the test a little harder. anywho no excuse for future students because this class will no longer be at 8 so you better say something to not kill his ego.
Good guy to take Chem 3A with. I took summer class that was VERY fast. However, still a verg ood teacher, and will fully explain problems if needed. Fair grader most of time. What I mean is, will give you points for trying/somewhat correct answers, but will take away if did 95% correct even with correct final answer.
He's a good professor but frustrating. His quant tests are sooo long and they're really difficult. And his pop quizzes definitely brought down my grades. He'll help you out but he's not very clear. He gives lots of partial credit but the class is just terrible. He's not awful but not good either.
Great professor! I wish i could've taken him for Chem 03. Doing well in chemistry depends on having the right teacher. I did not like my teacher for Chem 03 and got a C+. With Nirode I'm getting an A. No joke!. Highly recommend.
Fabulous. Cocky...but fabulous
Dr Nirode is absolutely beautiful and fun to look at. Be careful his looks can be distracting. I definitely recommend him because he helps you understand chem. Oh and let me not forget, he's hilarious! Love you Dr. Nirode!
Actually shows you how to do the formulas.
Dr. Nirode moves a little fast in lecture, but the problems done in class mirror the 4 exams. No quizzes to help your grade but he uses a nice curve. He also gives a lot of partial credit on tests. I would take him again if I could.
Nirode was an amazing professor!! Had him for lab and he even helped us understand material that was not covered properly in lecture!! Would take a chem course with him again!!
Really awesome professor! He is very helpful and always there to answer questions. He is very clear and actually makes understanding chemistry fun. He is also a very fair grader. Definitely take him if you can!
Hes a cool guy, a pretty fair grader. You have to do the work or you'll fail but that goes for any chem. His jokes are corney but thats what makes them good. Oh and if you like the muppets or Ray Romano you should take him. Ribbit
One of the best professors at Hofstra. So fair, so helpful and an all around great teacher!
Never had him for lecture, but from all the things I heard from friends, I regretted not taking him. I had him as a lab professor and he was so helpful with everything. He was an easy grader, and just like you, he was waiting for everyone to finish so we can all get the hell out of there. Awesome professor.
Very good at explaining chemistry and very helpful. If you attend lecture and work at it, you will succeed. Makes dumb jokes constantly, so if you like science puns, take him.
Nirodes a solid dude and an extremely fair grader. I highly recommend him. Not only will you get a good grade if you actually put forth effort, but he does a great job in my opinion of teaching the material. Very thorough.
First of all Dr. Nirode is so HOT! He is a very fair grader but you do need to actually show up for class and do some work but that is true for all Chemistry classes. Take him if you can. He's the best!
Nirode is the BEST!! He makes chemistry easy to understand and doesn't mind answering questions. Oh yeah, he has the most corny jokes lol. Show up to class, take notes and you'll be fine.
honestly i didn't like the tests/quizzes that nirode gave. he teaches well but sometimes you get a random question on your test that you have no idea what it says, but overall hes really cool and funny.hes not as direct as strothkamp but still a good teacher.he also curves at the end which is very generous of him. take him if you cant get strothkamp
Prof. Nirode was amazing. I took him for chem 3 and chem 4 and did great in both classes. He made the class interesting and told a lot of jokes. He was really helpful outside of the class too. His tests had no trick questions, they were straight from his lectures. Def. take him!!!
Easily the best general chemistry teacher in the department. He's clear, his quizzes stem directly from his class notes, and his tests come directly from his class notes and quizzes. He knows how to teach, grades fairly, and keeps the class entertained with his corny jokes and stories. Undoubtedly the best choice for chemistry.
Nirode is the best! He is very clear with all subject matter and is extremely helpful when asked a question. He likes to make corny chemistry jokes during class, and is overall a pretty funny dude. Quizzes are extremely easy, exams are a bit trickier. Everything you need to know, he tells you, no surprises. You can drop two quizzes. Great professor
HE IS TOO FAST !
I did great in chem 03, i got an A- and i only studied the night before the exams. In chem 04 i did the same thing and got a c+. So nirode is a good professor, jokes around and teaches well but dont take that for granted. Study and you should do great.
First of all, Nirode is very pleasant to look at.. now that that's out of the way, let's just say you should take this class if chemistry is not your thing. He makes it very easy to understand, and the tests and quizzes are very straightforward. No tricks, and his grading is VERY fair. GREAT professor!
He was a very helpful individual. Lectures are absolutely great. I never fell asleep. Only complaint I ever heard was that he was fast. Cut the guy some slack he had no choice but to move at that pace because it was a Tues and Thurs schedule. No professor wants to fall behind. Overall, Good job Nirode!
Love him! He's very funny and always cracks jokes to make attending an 8am class less painful. He's also extremely nice and if you write down his notes on the board, you'll ace the tests. Questions come right from it!
Makes class more fun with his jokes, but sometimes it's hard to understand what he's trying to teach without reading the book. Unfortunately he doesn't do many class examples and rushes the class, but he consistently ends class 20 mins early.
he is amazing! I am taking him now and love his class. As long as you read the text book and study there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A! TAKE HIM
Dr. Nirode is a really great guy. He makes jokes and tries to keep fairly long lectures entertaining. He really knows his chemistry. Three tests over the course of the semester and a quiz once a week. He drops the two lowest quiz grades, and curves at the end of the semester.
I had him fill in for one 3A class, and thought he was awesome so I signed up for the 4A class. Unfortunately, I think the large class size was really a detriment to actually learning. He would have a hard time getting people to just shut up, and it annoyed him (and me). He wasn't very clear on harder material. Class ended early almost every day...
The best professor I've had so far. His curve is the best thing that has ever happened to me. His grading scale is not like other professors. Around an 80 it would be an A- or A. If you at least show work on your quizzes or tests but get the wrong answer he only takes 1 point off. If you pay attention and ask questions he will gladly help.
So Nirode is overall a good professor. Teaches you what you need to be teached and there are no surprises on exams or quizzes. Three exams, 7 quizzes (only 5 counted) and a final. The only issue with him is he is super corny and rude.
Overall one of my favorite professors. Teaches extremely well. Doesn't give hw. The tests/quizzes follow what is done in class, but they are still a bit difficult. But, he gives 7 quizzes (only counts 5 highest), 3 exams, and a final. At the end of the year the curve is AMAZING. An 80 gives you around an A- (or even A). Take him!!!
nirode is the chem teacher to take. no doubt.
He knows the material; too well maybe? He's rude and completely unwilling to answer questions without his usual sarcastic tone. Spends more time making corny jokes than actually helping you pass his class. His exams are tough and long and many people end up being rushed to finish in the allotted time.
DO the HW problems. Hes a good guy, fair, funny and HATES cheaters. Bc of cheating our curve got messed up but HIGHLY recommend hes a great professor and I learned a lot. If you prepare for his exams you should do well. Hes willing to help, and even helps those annoying people that get 98s on tests and ask 1000 questions bc hes such a good guy
Nirode is great. Partial credit in that class will save you big time. He doesn't take off a lot of points. If you don't know the answer you can literally write out the givens and he'll give you half credit. Makes super corny jokes but it helps the time go faster. Great guy would definitely recommend!
Hes easy. But his class won't prepare Pre-meds for the MCAT. Get ready to start studying for your MCATS and realize that you have to learn chem much more in depth and you with you had taken a harder teacher.
He's an extremely good teacher and conveys the information well and in a very clear way. He grades fairly as well and won't dip you out of points for no reason. That being said, you do need to participate and show him that you're paying attention. Also, DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS HE GIVES YOU. His test/ quiz problems are very similar to them.
If you want a Professor that can make you laugh, take him. If you want a Professor that will actually teach, avoid him. Aced chem 3 with another Professor and found chem 4 with him much more difficult than it needed to be. He re-worded questions to make it much more difficult and made most students feel ignorant. Would not recommend to anyone.
He's a great professor! He makes corny chemistry jokes to lighten the lecture. It's refreshing actually especially when the material is heavy. Participate! The examples he shows in class are similar to the ones he asks on the exams. Go to office hours if you need to! Show work, any type of work and you'll get partial credit.
He is a really good professor. He ACTUALLY teaches. He gives quizzes every week but he goes over everything in the course in detail.
This class was great. Dr Nirode cares about his students. As long as you go to class , study, and go to his office hours there is no reason to get an A. He does curve the class at the end but you still must study and do the work.
Chemistry is not my best subject, but taking this class with Nirode made it so much easier to understand. As long as you study, practice and more practice the homework he gives you, you should be fine.
I struggle to find any problems with this professor. He's knowledgeable, devoted, understandable, and willing to go over anything people don't understand before each quiz/exam. The lowest two out of seven quizzes are dropped, and the questions on each exam are similar to the ones he covered in class and on the HW. Plus, there's a curve at the end.
Had him for lab. Amazing recitation, very clear. Expectations for the lab are clear. Acts like he is tougher than he actually grades. If you show effort he will do all that he can to help you get an A. Leaves the lab class for most of the time which is super chill. Lab practical is a bit tough. Only had 2 lab reports that had to be formal.
He's an amazing, easy teacher! He doesn't always teach everything, so the ACS final taken at the end of the semester might include stuff you weren't taught (just study the handbook). There are 7 quizzes given throughout the semester and only 5 count. The 3 tests given are easy. There is no extra credit. Just study and you will be fine!
DR. NIRODE IS A GEM. I am currently taking him for CHEM109L and he is hands down the best lab professor ever. His pre-lab licenses are super helpful when writing up the discussion. He is always joking around with us and the TA and makes the overall class environment super fun. I look forward to the lab every week!
He's pretty awesome. His grading is clear, just follow what you need to do and you will pass. You don't have to go to lecture but it is important. He goes through a lot of material and calculations that are important for test and quizzes. Go over the notes test yourself from the test book or read over the chapter and you will be golden.
BEST PROF EVER! This class was such a great experience! It honestly never felt like a chem lecture, it was more like a 2 hour stand up comedy special. As long as you show up, pay attention, and do the homework, you'll succeed in this class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Nirode.
If you never took AP Chem, don't take him. HE doesn't help in-office hours. Tests are hard. Quizzes aren't bad. Claims he will curve at the end but he doesn't. if your not doing something medical-related don't take him. I thought it was gonna be a easy A but it def isn't
I took him for chem II lab. He's a lenient grader, so getting a good grade isn't hard. What is difficult about this is the common final, which he has no control over, anyways. He's a very sweet, understanding, compassionate professor. He's the type of prof you can't help but love with because he's so smart and kind.
Dr. Nirode is the best. Everything was pretty much hybrid until Thanksgiving due to Covid. He's a very thorough lecturer. He cracks some corny jokes but it's just to keep us engaged. Ended up curving the class by a few percentage points and assigned an extra credit homework assignment. 10/10!
Great guy and great teacher! Explains things well and will not hesitate to re-explain/ answer any questions. 3 big exams, 7 quizzes (only counts the 5 best though) and 1 final. Curves final grade at the end. AP Chem definitely helped with this class, college chem moves at a much faster pace.
Prof Nirode is a really nice and funny man. He never hesitates to answer questions or go over something again. You can tell he really wants you to do well. It's a hard class so you definitely have to work for your A.
I hated and struggled in Chem until I took this class (loved it). It was hybrid, and Dr. Nirode was always willing to help if I had any questions. Drops two lowest quiz grades and tests are really fair. Easy to get full points and do well if u study! lectures are easy to understand and he is hysterical. If u are pre-med, take this chem class!!!
Can be rude to students who dont understand the material. get a tutor because he wont help you.
DON"T TAKe HIS CLASS! He goes way too fast and the questions he does in class are nothing like the ones he puts in the exams. The exams are very hard and only have a few questions making them super easy to fail.
Definitely the best chem professor. His lectures are always interesting, weekly quizzes but they're very easy as long as you show up to class and pay attention. Mostly multiple choice exams and quizzes. Doesn't give too much homework. Definitely take him if you can.
He's great. The class was curved. He gives weekly quizzes. The material was easy if you attended class and paid attention.
Really nice guy, and does try to help his students pass. His tests can be a little hard and there are a lot of concepts to learn in class but if you study and put in the effort his class is pretty manageable. He also offers office hours and will also clarify concepts when asked. Would reccomend.
Makes chemistry so much easier to understand and enjoyable. Honestly wants the best for every single student. Lectures can feel long and like a lot of information but no useless information is taught. More extensive studying is required for tests and final than quizzes. Genuinely my favorite class this semester.
Professor Nirode is a great professor and I'd highly recommend everyone take him. His lectures do feel pretty long sometimes, but they're clear and easy to follow. Most of his test questions come from in class practice problems so definitely pay attention to those. He gives a lot of partial credit and drops the two lowest quiz grades too.
Professor Nirode is a great professor. His lectures are clear and he gives lots of practice. He cracks jokes and tells corny stories to lighten the mood. Weekly quizzes and he drops 2 of them. Tests are pretty similar to quizzes. There was a curve on the final. As long as you pay attention and do practice problems, you should be in good hands.
Like him as a person, not as a teacher. His lectures are very fast paced and often confusing. If you have a question, he'll either not answer it or complain that you weren't "paying attention". While the textbook isn't mandatory, definitely read it because his lectures are not clear. Difficult class for the average person
He is my favorite professor so far at Hofstra. He is always willing to make time for you to get extra help and answer any questions you have. He is also always giving as much credit as he can for open ended questions. He is super thorough during his lectures. I jsut wish I studied a bit more to get a better grade.
Dr. Nirode is hilarious and makes a lot of jokes to make the long lecture more enjoyable. He is super knowledgeable and explains really well. He will stop and explain whenever you have questions, and he's always available for office hour. He is a great person and professor, just make sure to study!
TAKE THIS CLASS WITH NIRODE. He is so good at teaching. Chem is very hard but he explains it so well and he is funny. If you show up to lectures and take notes you will be set for his exams. He is super nice too so go to office hours if you need. He drops the lowest test grade too.
Dr. Nirode doesn't honestly seem to care about his students. We are graded by so few things and I know other professors have quizzes and study guides. He has office hours, but the tests look nothing like the few examples from the lecture. I had to get an outside tutor for help. I wish he would just be a little more involved.
Dr. Nirode is the best option for chem at Hofstra. The class is hard and that will never change, but he is a clear lecturer and a funny guy tbh. Show up and take notes and you will be fine. Also he drops the lowest exam so you can bomb one.
Overall, Dr. Nirode was an amazing professor. Felt that his tests got harder as the semester progressed, but I guess I was just slacking off. Great that he drops one exam, and also curved the final grade, by I believe a whole letter grade. Just be prepared that if you miss one of the classes, you will feel lost, A LOT!
Dr. Nirode is probably one of the best professors I've had in college. He is so interactive, his lectures are thorough, and he gives supplements that are super beneficial for your studying. He gives a good amount of partial credit on exams for showing work. He answers questions and makes sure you understand before moving on. Take him!
Funny and keeps lectures interesting. Chemistry is going to be difficult no matter what professor you choose, but I think Dr. Nirode is a great choice. Tests are pretty hard and the average was usually around a 65-70. He does drop your lowest test grade and curves at the end of the semester.
Dr. Nirode does a wonderful job of teaching Chem 4A. The way he walked us through problems increased my confidence in the subject, as he straightforwardly approached a problem. Lots of his test questions come from prax problems/ALEKS, so be sure to do everything he assigns you to prep for exams! Also, he's quite a funny guy!!
Dr. Nirode is a really good professor who truly cares about his students. He provides practice problems and supplmental questions. The ALEKS homework is a pain but it helps that he takes test questions from it. Take him. He's the best in the department for gen. chem.
He's a good professor, but detached. He'll make jokes in lectures, but if you try to talk to him one-on-one, he's very dismissive. I had a university-excused absence and he refused to let me make up the exam. And get ready for him to screw you over on the final exam, as he'll put the hardest questions from every previous exam.
I'm not sure what other students are complaining about with Dr. Nirode. He is a really good professor who cares about his students. The class environment is so welcoming.. He doesn't give makeup exams. Period. It does state that in the in the syllabus. Maybe some need to learn how to read. Does drop an exam grade though.Take him you'll be happy.
He was one of the worst teachers I've had. While knowledgeable in chemistry, his teaching was bad. He went way too fast, barely explained his solutions, and left little time to follow along. I had to teach myself for tests because I didn't learn in class. The pacing was my biggest issue, as he solved problems faster than I could write them down.
i LOVE nirode. before i took him, people warned me of how tough he is as a teacher so i was really scared to take his class. but believe it or not, he quickly became my favorite prof. i 100% believe how he treats you is how well he likes you as a student. he's funny & loves to make jokes. i am taking him for lecture next sem & i'm rlly excited!
Tests are not bad; problems from class, ALEKS, and review sheets. PPTs are uploaded but sometimes they have extra information and he always goes over what you need to know during class. Some of the practice problems he makes up so they aren't on the ppt. Go to office hours if you need help. He is super funny and makes a lot of jokes. Great guy.
genuinely the best chem lab prof I could've got for my freshman fall semester. grades relatively easy and isn't too harsh but won't give out a free 100. use lab manual, I tried using my iPad and while it was good for during the year, kinda screwed me up for the practical. very funny, if you want him to like you just laugh at his jokes & talk to him
Very easy class just show up and use the given material to study, and you will be fine. Definitely do the ALEKS prep it will benefit you a lot. Really amazing class and an awesome prof!!!
Professor Nirode's class is challenging but rewarding. His lectures are thorough, and he's always willing to clarify concepts. Attendance is a must, and using Unstuck study for study prep helps a lot.
Dr. Nirode is a really chill teacher who cracks jokes in every other sentence, whilst teaching you the laws and equations of chemistry. He is such a great lecturer, if you're more accustomed to being a copy robot for notes, I wouldn't recommend. However, if you like to be a participator or a audible learner, he is a great professor.
I took the winter session for chemistry with him and I found it was difficult. we only had 3 exams so it was weighed heavily, but his grading rubric is incredibly lenient, ex) 60-70% is a C/C+ i think. And he is generous with giving credit on tests.
such an amazing teacher. he lectures a lot and does a lot of practice problems. if u do bad it just means ur not putting in the effort.
Great teacher and super nice (though my class was kinda mean lol). Lots of practice and very accessible outside of class.
Chem is hard in general. You have to put in effort. Professor Nirdoe taught it well; for someone who's struggled with chem in the past, he helped me understand it. I recommend taking his class for chem. Grades are based on ALEKS and exams. He's accessible outside of class and drops the lowest grade.
Dr. Nirode is really chill. He is not as strict with what you do in lab, as long as you get it done. He is also really good at teaching. It was enjoyable for a summer course, and he is funny and nice. Definitely would take him again if I had to
Although he does teach well in lecture, he moves very fast and his exams are extremely hard comparatively to other teachers and the review. He does try his best to give students credit through dropping a test, his grade scale being higher, and givign partial credit. yet his exams are so hard that it doesn't help much.
It's a shame that others will write that it is a bad thing that he cares about people cheating. I'd rather have someone that actually care then doesn't. Do his review problems and the ALEKS homework problems and you'll be fine. He gives you a ton of time on the exams compared to others.
I wrote a review and it got deleted, not blaming him but definitely fishy. Honestly, he is the worst professor in the Chemistry department. He does give good partial credit, however his tests are so hard it dosn't matter much. No matter if you study aleks or practice problems, it wont matter, they're too difficult. Exams: 60% Final: 25% Aleks: 15
Great professor for general chemistry, does tons of practice problems. As long as you do the work and put in effort you'll be fine. Responds to emails quick, and exams are pretty much like the practice problems. Would definitely take again.
The tests have nothing to do with his review problems but just way harder. Final was a nightmare. Just avoid him at all costs. Final grade got curved by 20 points and average was still so low
This course was very hard because we were only taught from the whiteboard. There were not many review problems per test. The tests themselves were also very hard. Try not to take him if you can.
Just got done taking CHEM 4A with Dr. Nirode. I loved the class. He is a great professor. I didn't find the exams hard like others. It was like his review and ALEKS questions help too. Final was hard but he curved it. I would take him again.
I think Dr. Nirode is misunderstood. He is very caring. Go see him in office hours. It is worth it. I found his lectures very organized and clear. Exams weren't easy but fair. If you study and do the problems, you will do fine. I think some just complain no matter what.
I've had other professors for general chemistry and Dr. Nirode is by far the best. Just take him. Don't listen to the complaints, it's just noise.
I took Dr. Nirode's summer CHEM 3A class. It was amazing. He is very caring and gives clear lectures. Fair grader. You need to study to do well though. Do the practice problems it will help. Take his class in the summer. It is worth it.
The CHEM 3A class in the summer is online. Dr. Nirode makes its interesting and engaging. You need to attend class and pay attention to his lectures. Only graded by exams which sucks but exams are fair. Pretty easy grader. Take him if you can.
He's a very nice professor and will help you learn. Chem itself is difficult, so definitely reach out, go to office hours, review the notes, do the practice problems, and I strongly recommend getting into study groups outside of class. NOTE: DO NOT TAKE IF YOU AREN'T WILLING TO WORK!!
Took him for a summer session which was online, and Dr. Nirode is genuinely one of the best professors I've ever taken here. His explanations are clear and concise, and he freely reviews any topics or questions that you might have during the lecture. The exams themselves aren't too difficult, and as long as you study, you'll do just fine.
Truly one of the best professors at Hofstra, cares about students and building a connection, and incredibly laid back. He talks frequently about the chemist's lounge, and cracks some cringy dad jokes every class. His exams are hard but so is chemistry, and doesn't rely on his slides to teach.
Wish he could teach me all my chem classes throughout college. Really knows his stuff and is good at what he does. Take if you can, one of the best professors at this university by far.
Very good professor, can get really boring really fast. Sit in the front if you don't want to fall asleep. Definitely one of the best professors to teach a really tough course, offers help and answers any questions you may have.
This guy is awesome. A little corny at times but he tries to make the class enjoyable with his jokes. I think his exams are fair not necessarily easy. Attend class and take good notes. Do the review problems and go to his office. He is easy on the eyes!
He is good for the lab, explains things clearly and is always there to help. Tries to help you finish quickly. Not too harsh with grading, though he'll take off points for small details. Definitely better than other profs. Take him if you can!
Dr. Nirode is great for lab. He is a very lenient grader and does his best to keep the lab short. His quizzes aren't too bad and he is helpful when you ask him questions.
Prof. Nirode is the best! His lectures are clear and he explains concepts well. Funny with great jokes. Tests can be challenging , but not too bad overall. Study slides and class notes. MC will be tricky and most of the time ppl lose pts for sig figs. For problems review his in-class examples. GO TO OFFICE HOURS.
He is good for the lab, explains things clearly and is always there to help. Tries to finish quickly. Not too harsh with grading, though he'll take off points for small details. Definitely better than other profs. take him if you can. you won't regret it
Lots of dad jokes a very fair grader, was lenient on grading tests, gave points if you show work even if answer isn't close to correct. Lectures are clear and helpful as is the online textbook. However, was rude to students in class. Humiliated students in class for asking questions.
Excellent teacher for lab, helpful when you had questions and short lectures before starting. There were a couple quizzes but they were announced in advance/on syllabus. Does take off points for minor things on lab reports. Very easy if you follow manual, and lab practical was easy and we used PQs and old lab reports.
I took Dr. Nirode's CHEM 003A class and thought he was wonderful. Very funny. Fair grader. Exams aren't too bad. Go to his office hours where he can be very helpful.
Dr. Nirode is very professional as the head of the department, however also a pure and caring person. His lectures are very heavy and fast-paced (requires self-learning sometimes). ATTEND CLASS because he skips over some of the conceptual slides in the slideshow. His tests are really fair. Good luck :)
