I loved the class, it was awesome. You will get to know so many great people. BO is so nice, and caring. It's nice to know that some professors care about you overall and you arent just a name to them, he actually gets to know you.

Professor O'Connell has more energy than anyone I have ever met. He is such a positive individual and knows how to bring it out in you. I am eternally greatful to him encourageing me not to drop his class because of my fear of public speaking.

Not only a good looking professor but also very helpful. I loved his class. He was very helpful and was willing to hear what you had to say. I would recommend him.

They only gave us 3 weeks to get to know such a great individual but i'll tel u what it was all worth while. He's still a major part of everything i need to survive in school even though i dont take any of his classes. All i have to say is hes the best of the best!

One of the Best teachers EVER!!! somehow he gained everyones respect without ever having to raise his voice once. he is cool AND serious, which is very rare because most "cool" teachers tend to be pushovers and let the kids do whatever they want. you can talk to him like an ordinary everyday person.

The absolute best teacher I ever had, and probably will ever have. I have an intense fear of public speaking but he made me feel so utterly comfortable up there. Anytime I got nervous, I would just look at him in the back of the room and he would smile and nod boosting your confidence back up.

Professor O'Connell human communications class is great he keeps you awake and interested and is there to help you at all times. One of his quotes is that he teaches not for the money but to help students this is a genuine guy.

Professor O'Connell is one of my favorite professors at Suffolk so far. He is inspiring and truly cares about his students. He keeps the class fun and interesting. Even though I'm not a fan of public speaking, he makes us feel comfortable and prepares us well. I definately recommend him!

O'Connell has the ability to take a difficult subject and turn it into a sensational story about life! This man is committed to his students and will help to remove your fear of public speaking. First week of class and already we have been in front of the class 4 times. He is a hottie too!

Actually a very good teacher--teaches the material, applies it to life, and it is obvious that he cares for his students. Does have high expectations and is demanding. Great speaker--keeps your attention. Got a "B+" in the class as a 3.8 Student. The slackers are the one's who think less of teachers. Dont trust the moderator!

I took Professor O'Connell or should I say, Doctor of Communications for CO11 and CO12. I had taken his class several years ago and had to withdraw due to family issues. He remembered me 3 years later! He is the best communications Prof. at Suffolk. THE BEST!!!Lots of work but the lessons are life changing!!!The BEST!

The best professor I've ever had. The guy is amazing. His lessons are too the point. Always keeps you on your toes but has a great sense of humor. Treats you like his peer and not his student. Always helpful. Remembers your name by the second week of class. If you get the chance, sign up for his class. Life changing.

listen, this guy is nice but there are others who are betta then him. If you get him you will do okay but if you have the option to pick your teacher look for someone else. Can be strict so we called him O'Colonel (kernel) in stead of his real name loL!

CO11- fun class, 2 speeches(he gives u a good grade on them even if they suck), midterm and final are mostly common sense.. text book not really used, dont even buy it. I highly recommend this prof. hes nice and cares about his students.. if u pay attention and show up you will have no problem getting a good grade..

Bill is the freakin man. One of the best teachers I ever had. I currently have him now for intercultural comm. His class is extremely fun and interesting. I was the type of student that dreaded having to take a Communications class. But Prof. O'Connell was truly an understanding person. He knows his stuff, and he is very passionate. This class was required for me to get my associates degree. Going into this class I was extremely nervous by the end of the semester I was upset it was coming to an end. He gives you life lessons and makes you do many exercises through out the semester to prepare for the speech which in the end was easy. He was an awesome professor.

OMG! The best professor that Suffolk has. He's so nice and helpful. He cares about his students and wants them to do well; and is very understanding. His material is pretty straight forward. Whatever notes he writes on the board is all on his exams. He makes class interesting, even the quiet ones speak.

Prob one of the BEST professors at this college. I did not miss one class; even on my worst days I showed up because his class was THAT good. HIGHLY recommendable professor. One class he even got his pal Ray Negron from the NYY to show up along with his son. His lectures are very relatable, real, and he's very into them.

There is literally nothing not to like about O'Connell or his class. It's super easy and he's very lenient but don't take advantage of it, he's not an idiot. He is so funny and has so much experience in life, truly inspirational. He gives amazing feedback on your essays which is nice because they're personal. He really motivated me. One of a kind.

The most amazing teacher I have ever had. Public speaking is my biggest fear and gives me severe anxiety. But the way that he handles the class and makes everyone comfortable with each other made it a lot easier. He just wants the best for you and will do anything that he can to help you achieve greatness. He is also very funny and is straight up.

Prof. O'Connell is one of the best professors I've ever had! He truly cares about you, believes in you and wants you to excel in school and life! So happy I had the opportunity to take him! Professor O'Connell is hands down one of my favorite professors I've encountered at SCCC so far. He's such a kind guy & he gives life lessons throughout the course of his class without being dull and boring. I found myself really looking forward to going to class. Work-wise the content isn't too bad but take thorough notes & study & you'll be fine.

Loved him! I was scared to death to take this class but Professor O'Connell makes it fun and comfortable. It quickly became one of my favorite classes to attend. This teacher is the best teacher I've ever had at Suffolk County Community College. He is a down to earth guy, cares about his student. His classroom is real and you talk about real life things. Never gives homework and quizzes are very easy and his final is very very easy. The only "A" I've got from suffolk so far

I never took a course t Suffolk I met Bo in Venice while writing 'Voices in the Sand" and over a year and a half I befriended one of the most beautiful men ever, and I grew up with Danny Thomas (Uncle) , I was raised with the elite, I have met presidents and I have never met a more wise, humble, selfless, respectable man than Prof. O'Connell.

his classes are not boring and he's a really cool guy makes class VERY interesting and you actually want to show up for class. i would take him again.

Super nice professor, very easy going, cares about all of his students and wants everyone to do great. Class was always fun and interesting, he has many interesting life experiences that he shares with the class. 4 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final and 1 presentation, no papers. Easy A

I really loved prof. O'Connell and his class. Everyone had their own story to tell and it was very fun to be a part of it. Make sure to do the reaction journals and participate and you'll be fine. He's amazing.

Excellent professor. Really understands communication learned Lots about listening, relationships, and everybody in the class was able to share their perspectives which is rare in a college environment. I think that is what made the class so interpersonal and the class seemed to achieve its purpose. I would definitely take Professor O'Connell.

Professor O'Connell is the most inspirational professor I've ever had! He cares about students well being, homeworks are due a week to two weeks apart. (You can even hand them in a few days later and he's cool with it). We worked together on group projects, the final also. He understands if your absent, just shoot him an email. LOVE HIM!!

Favorite professor at SCCC, took him for COM 101 and Interpersonal com and loved him for both. Anything he assigns is straight forward and easy to get done and he really cares about your opinions and likes class participation. Doesn't really use the textbook

Incredible class and professor. One of the most caring guys you'll ever meet. Class is extremely enjoyable. His stories are hilarious and very interesting, you'll fully be paying attention. What I love most of all is that you can be yourself in this class, and not many classes let you do that. I'd take this class over and over again!

Honestly such an amazing guy. So sweet and makes his class a lot of fun, really enjoyed him all semester. I will say my only warning is there is not a lot of teaching involved inside the classroom. Mostly a lot of story telling (which is fun), but then the exams are in depth and difficult.. Had to do a lot of outside reading/studying to do well.

Excellent Professor, learn so much in the class especially perception and listening which I didn't realize you're such an important skills. There was a lot of writing but the professorhas a great way of connecting real life stories to the material which not only makes the class fun and interesting, but you learn a lot about relationships as well.

Amazing professer. Honestly wish a lot more professors were like him. Hes well respected. His lectures and conversations are so inspirational and worth listening too. You need to engage in his class in order to do well, he does 5 reflection papers , a page long and 1 reflection 3 page long. About 3 quizes and 2 exams. Extremely easy!!!!!

I enjoyed this class.

Ive never been so fascinated by a lecture. The majority of the time he is telling a story about his life. Everyone is so captured in it that I would look around the room, not 1 person on their phone, completely focused. Then like 10 minutes before the class ends everything comes together and ties into the topic were learning abt. Hes amazing.

Prof O'Connel is the type of professor you want to take for communications. He teaches more about real life communication from past experiences than you ever could learn from a textbook. He truly made class interesting and worth coming to.

Very friendly, he's my favorite professor he talks to students like you're his equal not like he's better or smarter than you. I definitely recommend his class if you want to have fun in a not so difficult class.

I took Professor O'Connell back in 2015 and even 4 years later I think about his lectures. I've never before had a professor teach the way he did, and he spoke to all of us like equals. He will be there for you if you don't understand something. You have to study for his tests, but they are based in what he teaches in class. Take good notes and you will be fine. He is organized.

I highly recommend him for COM102. He is very clear and organized. also, he responds emails almost immediately. He cares about his students and he wants everyone to pass. Even with covid-19 he was able to continue the class on zoom and was very flexible with the work. Take his class and you won't regret it.

He's by far my favorite teacher I have ever had at Suffolk. He is the most caring and kind professor in the campus. He has a few test but most are common sense if you pay attention to the lectures and he offers you to do corrections on test. A few papers but they are simple and easy. TAKE HIM! You will not regret it, This man has changed my life!

By far my favorite professor! When the COVID outbreak happened and we switched to online learning I ended up dropping all of my classes except for his. He was so understanding and accommodating and was able to keep motivated when I was struggling. Overall a great guy and a super-easy class I highly recommend him, once in a lifetime prof for sure!

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Was one of the first communications classes I've ever taken, was very nervous... but professor O'Connell is amazing!! COM 101 included some textbook homework that was so easy you could not fail. Im in COM 102 now, and he really is the best professor!! Going to be sad to graduate without him as a prof. Truly an amazing person.

This class was by far the most entertaining and fun class I've ever had. Prof Oconnell is such a good person and a very caring teacher. His student's mean the world to him and he truly is passionate about his job. His tests can be tricky but he will help you if you ask. Be active in class and you'll honestly have a lot of fun.

Took this class in spring 2020 right before the pandemic hit and honest to god have never been so sad to not be in school because of this professor & this class. This guy is that prof you will remember until the day you die; he teaches you so much while making the lectures SO much fun. The best part of my day was walking into that classroom.

Hands down one of the best professors. I had him during the spring 2021 semester and he was amazing. He kept your full attention during lecture and ensured you understood everything. Assignments were straight forward. If you put the effort in, you will do amazing in his class. He not only cares about his students academically, but also personally.

I really enjoyed taking his COM-101 class over the Fall 2021 semester and I really think it taught me a lot. Most amazing proffessor I've experienced at suffolk. It didn't even feel like I was in school when I was in his class. I looked forward to it, and was sad everytime class finished. Would totally take any of his classes again. He's a great teacher and obviously cares about what he teaches. As someone with anxiety over public speaking, the speech that was required was really easy and he outlines/prepares you very well. He has a story/personal connection for everything which made his lectures very engaging.

This professor was amazing. He's very heavy on having an active and participating class and he tells a lot of stories! He has tests every while and if you pay attention to what he says, you will do great. He also gives great notes.

Professor O'Connell is by far one of the best professors the Grant campus has to offer. He made his class fun and interesting by involving us into his lectures. There were quizzes often, however, they were very easy, always had an extra credit question and mostly multiple choice. He cares about his students and is accessible and reasonable.
