Easy class. Nice man.
O'Connor is the best teacher you could possibly have at JJC. He explains well, answers questions and listens to all problem. He gives us study guides and reviews that make the tests super easy. I've learned more is his class than I did in high school

Very good teacher. After taking his class, I learned a lot about how the economy works in our world. The demand for this teacher is high. Thanks to him, I read the WallStreet Journal as much as I can, and made money investing in the stocks.
The best, makes you think
Very interested & knowledgeable class. Never a dull moment. Its nice to hear lectures not coming from a textbook but from a lawyer's pov & from using past experiences with clients. Don't buy the textbook for the class its never used.
jjc is lucky to have him as a professor. any problems that you have he is willing to help you through them, definately take his classes for blaw you get a practice exam before the real test, learn that and its an easy A. only grades are 3 test no final no homework. just know it and youll do fine
Great class! It can be a little slow at times, but he is a good teacher and it is a good class. The class has a lot of real world practical value.
Easy teacher. He explains things very well. I could tell he really wants his students to understand the law. Definetly a fun class. He gives three or four test duriing the semester and gives a study guide for each one. The test are based off the notes in class and the guides. If you read the book you are wasting your time. Take him.

This guy is by far the best teacher. He has some really good test, I actually wanted to study!!
He really knows what he is talking about and explains everything very well. It is a pretty easy class for the most part. Great Teacher!
very nice guy, he knows what law really is and make it interesting to learn. very helpfull and willing to spend time to review b4 test
very nice guy, no question about that, he really knows what law actully is and he explain very well, gives good example to make it easier for the class. the study guide is very clear and i actully want to study and look in to it, i m gonna take 102 with him and with try take as many classes as i can with him
Very, Very helpful and intresting. He knows everything about law, and he makes you want to learn. Having him for 3.5 hours on a wednesday night was fun, before you looked up the class was over. Test are easy as long as you attend class and get the study guide. Overall he is by far one of the greatest professors at JJC!!
GREAT TEACHER, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ANY LAW CLASS.
dude is the sh*t....coolest teacher i have ever had...and dont worry about being late cause hes late too...dude is really down to earth and understanding...he makes it easy to learn
very good teacher, almost makes you wanna become a lawer. he tells you whats going to be on the test and take good notes, test right from that information. Only three tests in the class, and thats all. recomend teacher.
THE BEST
VERY NICE TEACHER. EASY GOING AND VERY HELPFUL. TAKE HIM. HE IS GREAT AND THE TESTS ARE EASY. I LIKED HIM ALOT. I TOOK HIM FOR BUSINESS 104
Excellent professor who really knows what he is talking about. I strongly recommend signing up for his BLAW class, it really does not get much harder after that. Book is not much help since all tests are over in-class material. An exceptionally easy class.
Great teacher. I never opened the book once because i didnt need to he explained everything. i would absolutely take his class again.
Don't buy the book. Show up to class. Everything he lectures is on the tests. Tests are easy if you listen in class and take good notes. He relates the information taught to real life situations, and his examples are usually humorous. Topics are easy to follow. Highly recommended. Wish he taught more classes I needed to take. TY! Loved the class.

Very good teacher, if you're in his class get a buddy to copy notes off of if you miss class, notes are important. The text is virtually useless. Very entertaining lectures. Wish I had a reason to take another of his classes!
Awsome Teacher Best I've had Yet at JJC! I have him for Buisness Law 101 and as boring as that class sounds it would be he makes it really interesting and go by quick. Never gives homework either, just pay attention and you'll do good!
Too easy a teacher. He only teaches about 5 minutes of each class. The other 70 minutes he is repeating the same examples over and over. People fall asleep in this class and he doesn't care. His tests are easy and he gives you free points and curves the grade dramatically. A 54% on a test will net you a D (65% equivalent).
Very easy class,, show up and care and you'll pass.
Like all the other comments He is the best teacher I have had in a while. And he is very interesting to listen to. He explains everything, No book really used, but Key is to attend every class as 99% of the test are what he talks about and it's more interesting and easy to understand than reading out of a book. I alao taking a bus class by him.
I was so impressed with his style of teaching that I'm taking BLAW 102 with him in the fall. I don't even need the class! His lectures are fun, interesting, and practical. No homework was assigned, but I retained so much information.
Great Teacher!!! His lectures are very interesting. Must show up for class to pass the tests. I would highly recommend O'Connor.
Great teacher. He teaches in a very example based style. But you really understand the concepts. Don't bother buying the book, I never opened it and got a 96% in the class.
Very nice teacher is always helpful just attend class regularly so you dont miss anything and you'll do well. I recommend him he was great and I got an A
Excellent prof! very clear, very helpful. no homework. no need for the book, his tests are exactly his lectures. attendance is mandatory if you expect to learn. but his classes go by quick. i would take him again...very good!
Very good teaching approach to law. He uses great examples very similar to the test questions. No need to use the book. If you show up and are somewhat a competent individual, you will get an A.
I THINK MR O'CONNOR IS AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. HE WAS A GREAT HELP FOR ME RETURNING TO CLASS AFTER A NUMBER OF YEARS. I LOVED ATTENDING HIS CLASS. WILL BE TAKING MORE IN THE FUTURE!
O'Connor I believe is a really good teacher. The only thing I do NOT like about him, is that he calls on random people, when you least expect it! He goes through his roster and just calls randomly and asks random classes. Sometimes it may even seem like he singles you out! Other then that a great teacher! you learn A LOT!
He's a great teacher! You learn so much and its very interesting too. Yes he calls on people but he explains the material if you didn't know the answer. Attendance is a must! You need to take down notes in order to do well on the tests. There are 3 test total and that's it no hmwk. Do not buy the book! I never even opened it. Nice Guy.
Attendance not mandatory, but you need to go because all tests come straight from lectures. O'Connor lectures every single minute you are in the classroom. Ties real-life into his examples and he is very easy to follow. Exams will be a breeze if you come to class and take notes. Definitely a recommended instructor.
Very good class. He knows his law. He makes sure he teaches everything on exams (3 of them). Pretty much just lectures, but makes class interesting. Take him if you need the class!
3 exams and highest grade of the 3 doubled. Try not to miss class because ALL of the lectures are highly important. Gives you all the tools you need to pass the class with an A. Doesn't use Angel for grades which irritated me but he does give you study guides through it and practice test. Has inspired me to pursue a law career after my bachelor's.
Highly recommend Mr.O'connor. His teaching method explain the law on a level that anyone can understand, and be interrested in. you never use the book, and he gives you a study guide for every quiz and test. As long as you take notes, you wouldnt have a problem get a excellent grade from this teacher. Looking forward to Blaw 102, With him.
Took as an online class. Instructor is very helpful. Will explain all questions thoroughly. Only negative for instructor--A little slow at updating grades.
Excellent teacher. Take notes. Uses book little. Likes to keep a positive atmosphere in class. Likes students to be active and it makes the class more interesting.
Professor knows his laws. Explains them in a clear easy to understand way. I would take in again.
He knows the subject pretty well, and he explains it in easy to get ways. No homework the whole semester too, just exams and quizes every now and then.
O'Connor is great! He explains the content in a way that anyone can understand and he uses tons of examples and situations to get his point across. No homework. Only tests and online quizzes. Show up, listen, take notes and go over the material before taking a quiz or test. The textbook is barely used if ever.
Loved him! I got an A and all I hadji do was pay attention, barely took notes! I understood the material because he is a vivid storyteller. Recommended!
Very good teacher. He relates real world examples to everything that was taught in class. Highly recommended.
Overall I would say the largest issue was the professor not returning emails and NEVER updating the grade book. The class itself was pretty easy
DO NOT TAKE HIM. No consistent weekly schedule, never replies to e-mails, cannot use iCampus properly, never puts in grades, and quiz questions are very confusing. The only assignments we ever had were quizzes, discussion boards, and tests. He never graded anything so you didn't know your actual grade ever. He's very frazzled.
I took this professor this semester thinking he would be able to be more direct each week for assignments. Instead its the opposite and Im trying to figure out what do to because he i not detailed orientated as i thought but a class is a class and this one is not easy for me. I will try my best to understand where and when to do his assignments.
I love Mr. O'Connor. He is extremely supportive in the class and Is willing to help you if you need help. Also, If you're interested in pursuing law school, he's the man you want to talk too.
Professor O'Connor gives great lectures, unfortunately, it turns into a "what if ____" question and answer session from the students who can't grasp the broad scope of the material. The tests are poorly written and confusing. The professor sometimes makes mistakes with grades (sometimes to your favor), so make sure you check up on them. No book use
Mr oconnor is a very knowledgable teacher. Because he was a lawyer he answers pretty much any question you can think of even if it's off topic. Lectures are long but they all make sense when put together, and he gives real like examples so the information is clearer
never updated grades, never replied to emails. questions each quiz were very broad and each answer was partially correct. You can expect to do everything on your own and teach yourself the class.
I took his online course. Just about the worst online professor I've had. Lectures were clear but the quizzes were extremely confusing. Lot of typos in quizzes, the questions are actually very poorly written which made it hard to understand. Didn't grade the essays till after the semester so I had no idea whether I was going to pass or fail.
Never responded to my emails, all options on the tests were all borderline the right answer making it very difficult considering you didn't really know what as going to be on the test. He'd just tell you to read a chapter and you read a short lecture then get a test. I don't know what he is like in class, but online he was absolutely awful.
This was an online class. From the very beginning, he didn't even post material until after the initial start date of the class. He always posted to email/call him with questions but doesn't respond. I pay privately for classes and was very disappointed. Quizzes had typos and were confusing. Honestly the worst experience I've had so far at JJC.
Prof. O'Connor makes himself available and offers help every chapter. He is an awesome asset to JJC, if you don't pass, then you just didn't want to!
Professor O'Conner appears to be a super nice guy, but unfortunately my experience with his online course was fairly poor. He would always say to email or call him with questions, but would never respond in time. He really needs to review his tests and quizzes because they are very poorly written. I Don't recommend taking him online.
He dose not know how to work canvas. He hardly response to your question. He take forever to grade any work. Would not recommend this teacher.
if you are taking him for BLAW101 online get ready to read! you really have to work for your grade, however, he is there to help. I would take him again.
One of the best teachers at JJC. Never gives homework except for quizzes and tests. You can always reason with him. Easy A
I took an online law class, and he was absolutely awful. Ignored mine (and my peers) emails, took 3 months to grade anything, and never explained anything in depth. without a doubt the worst class i have ever taken. not recommended.
Loved him! He was available and would reply to emails, he gave good feedback, but your grade will be based on the level of effort you put in this class. You will need to read the sections and make sure you are posting on time and replying to others. I learned some new things and can't wait to take BLAW102 w/him! He made me want to pursue law.
Took this class because a friend said it was easy, where halfway through the 8-week course he didn't put any grades in. Then turns out i was failing the class. Tests and quizzes were written poorly. Very confusing tests. In my opinion, if you want to teach a class, actually teach. If you arent gonna teach, dont teach.
Took BLAW101 might as well just taught the class myself. At least someone would be teaching it then! RARELY RESPONDS TO EMAILS. Worst part? He is the department chair If he IS a hard worker, it definitely doesn't show through his online classes. Hasn't graded any written work yet, it is past midterm. Best advice is to choose a different professor.
Professor still didnt have any grades posted halfway through the class. When everyone says that on here, believe them. It's so frustrating not knowing where you stand in the gradebook. Tests and quizzes are riddled with typos making them super hard to read and questions have more than one right answer. Go to him for help and he makesyou feel stupid
Professor O'Connor taught the online BLAW101 class. Was pretty easy if you read the lectures. There are at least 5 opportunities for extra. Extra credit was available for every exam. I never used the book because the tests were based off the lectures.
Prof. OConnor is a good choice of teacher for Business Law. Dude knows what hes talking about. Tests/Quizzes are based of his lectures, not the book. Never used the book once in the class. Going to class everyday is a good idea, but if you miss a couple dont sweat it. OConnor made me go from a C- to a B+, even after I failed my final. Great prof.
Slow at grading. Lots of typos, but understandable if you take a moment to think through what he is saying. His lectures make it easy to understand concepts. He tries to always be there for the students to help them succeed. He's great overall. I am taking his BLAW 102 class.
I recommend this professor.
Lectures hard to understand. So many errors throughout the lecture, homework and quizzes. The homework and test choices make no sense there can be two choices that are exactly the same which makes it even more difficult. Overall you are teaching yourself trying to understand each topic. And to top it all off he takes forever to grade.Dont recommend
Lectures are very hard to understand, he makes a lot of errors with his examples that make it difficult to answer questions on the homework and quizzes. If you actually want to learn something about business law he is not it. I had to google most of the vocab because he didn't explain it well. And he takes forever to grade.
Wants his students to do well in class. Lazy in the sense of tests, uses most homework questions.
He never once replied to any of my e-mails or calls throughout the semester, never graded anything on time, never posted the homework when he said he would, many questions found on assignments/test were not covered in his lectures and more. Overall if you're taking his class online, he is very unreliable and unorganized but maybe he's better irl.
He gave great examples of real world examples of law and applied them to the criteria. As long as you follow along to his lectures you will easily pass. Communication with him was not too bad, and calling him was the best thing as he is super understanding and helpful. The tests/quizzes were a little hard to understand sometimes though.
Professor O'Connor, who happens to be the chair of the business department for JJC, is an amazing teacher. He brings each student on a journey through history, and we are but there to witness. Using many real-world examples, he easily teaches us in weeks, what he has learned in years. 10/10 great class.
I have taken a couple of other more difficult classes at JJC in the accounting department online, but this class has been the most difficult one yet! We are about to hit midterms with no clue what our grades are! Quizzes/Tests are extremely difficult to understand!! DO NOT TAKE ONLINE!!!!
He is one of the best teachers I have had but he doesn't post grades! He cares about his students and what they understand. Last week of the semester and not 1 grade was posted. I would give him a 10 as a teacher but not posting grades makes for unnecessary stress! He posts great video lectures and written lectures. Quizzes are easy if you study.
BEWARE! this professor has SO MANY TYPOS in his tests, quizzes, and hw that you WILL FAIL. typos so bad it sounds like hes drunk. im on my last year at jjc and this class officially killed my 4.0 GPA. professor does not explain why question is wrong even tho ur answer came from HIS LECTURES! prof is unresponsive, and does NOT give feedback. RUN!!!
Professor O'Connor is the only teacher that I have ever dropped a class from. His homework assignments DO NOT MAKE SENSE. You have his notes he has written out and you think you got the right answer, nope. He never responds to emails, so good luck. I would not take him at all. BEWARE!!!! P.S He does not grade anything, so you don't know your grade,
He was so bad, constantly confusing us with other classes. There were so many materials he did not give us and chapters he did not go over but claimed we did. He uses chat gpt for most of his questions and even the right answers are wrong. I 100% would not recommend if you need a good grade in this class.
Don't believe the poor ratings. I just took a course with him. Pay attention to his videos and read his lectures/power points.. there is no reason not to get an A in this class. He's a slow grader, but all you need to do is focus on his obvious hints. Everything was open book/notes. He can be tricky, but the simplest answer is the correct answer.
He is always ready to teach, but at his age, he tends to forget what he did last class or what he was going to teach that day so he wings his lectures sometimes. His lectures are good though. He is also a very slow grader, you won't get your first homework assignment grade until a month later.
Does he take a long time to grade and make typos? Yes. If you get below an A did you not try? Yes. Bottom line: if you're trying to study and understand the material, he truly does give you what you need and allows you to contact him directly at any time. But, the class is online and easy to just get by without really applying urself.
He's a caring professor who tried hard to make us participate in his class and would always find different ways to explain material if you didnt understand it. Sometimes he would forget which lecture he was supposed to give us, mostly because everything he teaches comes from having them all memorized. He takes a long-time grading assignments though
He is a good teacher who has very insightful experience from he law career. Relates topics in class to cases he personally had and will make you understand the material. A laid back teacher with clear grading criteria. If you show up and do the work I don't see how you can get below a B, this is a class I can say I learned something from.
Professor O'Connor is just a great guy. Charming, intelligent, and understanding. He gives students great chances at passing his classes and helps you out if you've fallen behind or missed a quiz/test. Great teacher.
