anyone know who this professor is?
maybe a good professor, but I don't like group project. Everybody is busy here. Who has time for group work?
good Professor, but with crazy homework. busy students are better not to take his class. but if you have time, you are really learn in his classes.
One of those rare professors who are devoted their life for teaching. His lectures are so inspriring, that I am considering to concentrate more in Operations Management. Great Prof. Talks clearly. Answers questions. Encourages thinking. Gives extra credits. Homeworks are easy, but take some time to complete. Exams fair. Everything from your notes.
Very Interesting class.
Very good Prof. Very fair, gives extra credit, but also gives more work than needed. 3 group activities and 7 homeworks I could do without.
This prof is passionate about this course. He enjoys teaching it, and hardly ever end the course at its right time (he goes on and over). He asks too much of HW and reading/group project. Tough class/hw. Study hard and pay attention if you want a decent grade. The avg on mid term was in the 70's.
Excellent professor the best i have seen in Baruch so far although he gives a lot of homework and simulations and projects and i struggled somewhat i as had other classes he was always available outside the class and explained everything in detail. Highly recommended.
A very good professor. very nice and very helpful, but a lot of homework. with many extra cridits. easy A. If you are not busy student in Baruch, take it.
Great Professor, very helpful and clear... however, he requires a lot of hw 6/7, a simulation, one midterm, one final, a group project.. There's a lot going on in this class.. If u love challenges and u not lazy of course!! Prof. Millhiser is the best.. really interesting class and you'll learn a lot.
Great Prof! Very helpfull! A lot of H/w, but its worth it!
Very helpful and challenging professor...^^...I think it will be one of the memorable courses I've taken..One of the best professors in Baruch...<3
I agree with the other comments on here about the h.w. and on top of that, it's useless if your answers and calculations are not correct - regardless of how many hours you spend doing the homework - if it's not right, you don't get credit 4 it. I thought he was nice and passionate about teaching but too hard if your major is not mgmt.
The best prof. ever, and a great guy too! Take him, you'll learn a lot. Lots of HWks, but all very useful. Teaches MBA's too; if interested in OPR - he's your best choice. If not - he'll arouse your interest in OPR! He uses games and simulations in his class!!! Lots of videos, real-world examples, useful books and advice. You won't be bored, 4sure!
Highly knowledgable professor. yes you have to work...homeworks, the simulation, the book...but it's all managable. he also allows cheat sheets to the exam.
Not the easiest prof in the world. A lot of hard work but in the end it is worth it. Overall he is a good guy. I enjoyed reading "The Goal" I hope you will enjoy it to.
This class is notteh easiest, but if you come to class, do the HWs and keep up with the work, you're sure to get an A. Req: 10hws, 3 exams, read 1 book, & 1 simple fun project. Plus, you get to replace 1 exam w/a project. Overall, you atually gain Mgt concepts when you leave...TAKE HIM!
Probably the best prof i've ever had. he's a cool guy and every helpful! slides and HW's are so helpful, too! Not an easy A if you don't work hard, but hey, you LEARN, too! also, the required reading "The Goal" is a very interesting book, it helps a lot in understand some of the very important concepts in operations management!!
Really great professor!
He's very helpful, though a lot of work! Exam questions are all problems, allows cheat sheet. The class is very interesting&fun, you'll never fall asleep in class. He's a very nice person, and cute too.
IF YOUR NOT A MANAGEMENT MAJOR DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR..I REPEAT DONT ! he is very down to earth, intelligent and nice guy but he goes too in depth into the work as if everyone there is going to be a MGT major. i hope to pass this class. ALOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT OF WORK. its aggravating and annoying.
The first time in my life I wish this class would not finish so fast! It was GREAT! Excellent lectures, challenging creative assignments, fair tests and grades. Prof. M is the best prof I've taken. If most of prof were at least half as creative and dedicated as Prof. M school years would be really meaningful and useful. Take him!!! The BEST!!!
yes, it's true he is a nice guy and he is very intelligent however if you take his class get ready to work your ass off to the bone...he gives enough work for 4 classes... his tests and homeworks are impossible probably one of the worst/hardest most impossible classes ive ever taken...thanks to this website made a huge mistake and took him...AVOID
I took him for MGT 3121 class. Well he made us work hard, and we had to do a lot of homeworks. Well I got 90 in the first mid term and 79 :( on the scond one. but I did all the homeworks and I got A-!! Do your homeworks and you will be fine.
The Best professor, I've ever had. not even a management major and learned so much. one of the few great professors in Baruch. thanks professor.
Im not a great student. 3.0gpa. Best professor i ever had. the work load wasnt too much mgt 3500 was hardr. fun simulation games, some hw not too much. i got an A and i was high most of the time.
A unique professor at Baruch. He will 'refer' to the textbook but give you practical examples - from daily life - which are easy to understand. Although he gets too deep into the subject as if Operations Mgt is your major. Lots of games and activities to score an A. Take him..take him..take him.
Work load was heavy, but the grading system was extremely fair. He also gave opportunities to earn extra points (read "The Goal"). I am not an Op Mgt major so a lot was just over my head, but I enjoyed the class. He challenges you to think, which is what grad school is all about. Find a good team at the onset - it will save your life in this class!
Obviously newly teaching at grad school. He seems lost; after every process he explains there is literally a "phew" sound. Every class is a turmoil and voting event, not learning. He tries to make irrelative jokes, ruins concentration and wastes your time. His "Operations Management" class suffers from of his mismanaged operations.
The key to doing well in this class is to read The Goal, find a good group (some who write, some who can do the math) and read all the articles and absorb what he gives you. A-typical teaching style, prefers to be called by his first name! Only negative is that he has absolutely NO TIME MGMT SKILLS! He'd have kept us there till 10pm if he could!
Thought the class was mediocre, but thought Will was fantastic. Great personality, takes it seriously, uses a variety of pedagogical techniques. Unconventional teaching style, not yet spoiled by years of tenure and laziness. Def take his class if you can.
MUST TAKE PROF! Even if MGT is not major, u'll enjoy the class.Dont buy Textbook, u wont need dt.Do al d HW and u set for the EXAM. He really challenges u in the HW/exam, but VERY easy grader.Rqres 2read The Goal, read as erly as posibl.Got 95 in both Mterm, 90on final & 100%. Should get an A. I dint work hard apart from HW.coz hes so CLEAR in Class
Took Prof. Das and I didn't do well b/c of his teaching style. Took it again w/Millhiser and I was totally interested in the topics! Clear, respectful, HW's are exactly like exams.I did WELL!
People! Stay AWAY!!! Unless you have absolutely nothing else to do, but to spend whole semester studying just for one class! Great personality, true. You do learn something as a result. But the costs are too high! Not worth it! Very demanding, all your time taking, troublesome experience. Be careful!!!!
This guy can teach! True he gives work, but so what, I actually ended up learning something in a mgt class (truly a rare thing. Shows videos, gives interesting hw and has a read a good book and so a simulation. If you hate boredom and dont mind a but of a challenge thats still enjoyable, jump on the chance to take this guy. No regrets!
I absolutely hate this guy!!!!Another homework that is driving me crazy! Nothing is as painful as this course! Beyond any reasonable limit!
if you have absolutely no other work, you just may do well. but if you have a job and a full courseload, stay away. this is the most time consuming, intense class ive ever taken. the worst part is that none of the hard work pays off. work to your max for a mediocre grade--he's really got to decrease the work load and explain material better.
I have learned a lot under the prof. Millhiser not only about the subject but he goes beyond to help you out, so that you have the clarity about the thing on your mind. Always ready to take out time to help. Wonderfull guy and a true human being. He is my hero in Baruch
If you prefer silly entertainment in class: pieces of shows, games, stupid videos - while doing ALL the studying for the course at your own time, take him. His lectures are a waste. Meaningless, very shallow. About everything, but not what you need to know. his style might work well for kindergarden, but for college it is very poor time spending.
You will learn a lot from him. But too much.5 HW(30%), HW are really hard. first exam (most calculation + 5 multiple choice 10%) is easy, second exam(multiple choice 20%)really hard..final exam(most multiple choice 30%) really tough. littlefiled lab games+ two essays(10%), it is impossible to get 10%. Overall, if you wanna good grade, get somelse
Learned a tremendous amount. Textbook was used once for hw, all other hws were doable from his notes (about 7 hws in total) 2 exams. 1 final-cumulative. littlefield business game- fun. one of the best at baruch.
I am pretty sure that whoever gives him a good rating are Management majors or as weird as the professor himself. Don't take him if you are a full time student. If you want a grade higher than b-(b/c thats his best) don't take him if you like to be respected. He is a show off, who is so proud of himself that does't care about others. Ignore him...
TO non-management students, totally agree with previous comments, he's an excellent professor, but too demanding, definitely a GPA killer even if u put more effort into the class than any other classes combined, its very unlikely that you will get A in the class...so think twice before registering for him. For those who major in mgt, take him!!!
I will give him D+....final was too tough...we are not MBA students or Ph.D students
The truth about Littlefield game: this game is not fun as the prof. says. First of all, you have to pay for it around $20, you have to be at the computer for the whole 2 weeks and you have to write a paper after each game which is really a pain. Like homeworks weren't enough.
To get good grade u must work hard. A LOT OF WORK! Homeworks, 2 group projects, 2 midterms, cumulative final (very hard). I was getting A's all the time during semester, did only 91 out of 115 on the final and got B+. So, if you like to learn hard - take him, if its not your major - pick someone else. A lot of unnesessary material for fin major.
Guys, thanks for posting! I thought I was the only one angry about the class. All said below is true!
Workload is tough, but he makes it so interesting that you'll look forward to it! Not for the lazy. Well worth the time and effort. You won't need the textbook much, instead you'll need to pay attention in class - that's where most of the material and knowledge comes from.
THANKS everyone so sad, he is not good
he isnt so bad. better than the other mgt 3121 professors. the class is difficult itself but he does a good job in explaining the material and keeping it interesting. Quite a bit work to do, 2 projects, a midterm and a final. The subject is not easy so you must study. dont need the textbook. he explains things in class.
This was hands down the best professor I took in my life This was a tough subject to learn, but the professor kept it very interesting and very exciting. Hands down 10/10 professor. Really loved this class. This professor inspired me to pick up a second minor in managment. Take advantage of this professor& dont go for the grade go for the EDUCATION
This professor is the best management professor you will ever have. He is passionate about his teaching and truly cares about his students. About 10 HW, 3 exams (I-10,II-20, III-50%). There is also book you can read and he said he'll give 3 extra points on final grade. Some exam questions are short answer but he's very considerate with grades.
Millhiser is the worst thing that can happen to you if you are not mgt major. Lectures are shallow, too many people in class, tremendous workload plus The Goal to read.At the end ur effort not recognized. GPA killer. He is a show off nothing elese.
The below comment is not true. It's overall an easy class, just only require some basic maths. Of course you'll have to do homework, but it's not a big load. I just spend less than 2 hours a week and I got an A.
He is a great guy very helpful. He lives in the operational management world. you need to work hard but you will learn a lot. if you don't mind studying, then definitely take him. you will learn a lot. class is very enjoyable as well. he always make you think and you don't understand how the class end. one of the best class i have taken at Baruch.
Easily one of the best at Baruch. You actually learn and understand things intuitively, rather than just memorize definitions. Extremely helpful, via email and in class.
Happier after having gone through this class, not necessarily during; it's CHALLENGING! Several major topics explained well via hands-on, fun games. Pay attention, EVERYTHING works into the exams. If u want an easy A, get lost. If u want ur $'s worth, take him. Quirky personality but endlessly will help u, just ask. He'll make u a professional!
This Was a pretty tough class but I managed to pull out an A in the end. This professor is definitely very bright and passionate, and extremely fair. Sometimes felt like he was think way above the class' head and had to "translate" his ideas in his mind into something we would comprehend before he would speak. All exercises and discussions relevant
Good professor, knows his stuff, but a lot of work for a 1.5 credit class. Clearly enjoys teaching to the point where the level of enthusiasm of certain classroom activities borders on irritating, but overall the course is good. Too many students for a class like this, but that's not the prof's fault.
Easily said, one of the best professors out there. You can tell how passionate he is about the subject matter. The way he teaches is so clear and helpful. The class was a good amount of work but I came out feeling like I know so much and had a great experience. Definitely recommended as a professor.
Man did I have to work to get my grade. It was actually worth it, though, because he is Operations Management personified. He lives and breathes this stuff. Great class discussions and a few challenging assignments. Overall I'd say he's one of the better professors that Baruch has. I will never forget "The Goal"!!!
I hope Baruch had a better Operations management professors here b/c it is not what I expected. You will have to pull your hair out hard yet not learning much.
Great professor! Very passionate and helpful, but you will need to work really hard! Homework is insane! If you want an easy A, stay away from Will, but if you willing to do the work totally worth it! One of the most challenging classes ever!
If you really want to learn valuable tools for business analysis/management science take this professor. The work he gives is definitely doable, especially if you read the book and put some time and effort into it. If you are an operations management major that wants to focus on management science, TAKE HIM.
I took Prof Millhesiers class during wintersession. He is very passionate about operations management and has a sincere interest in students learning. The content delivery is an easy to understand format and he makes the content intriguing. He is readily available to help any students. Highly recommend this professor.
He is a brilliant professor, extremely motivated and passionate. However, I found the class challenging and it was the most work I have ever done for a 1.5 credit class. He genuinely wants the students to do well; follow his instructions exactly as he states them. Challenging class overall but great prof.
He is highly recommended by peers who took him in prior semesters, and I could see why. He motivates his students well, and he makes the lectures quite interesting. there are some interesting videos he presents in class. Take him if you can.
WPM has to be one of the best professors at Baruch. He's crafted a challenging, but fair and highly engaging curriculum. He's one of those professors who comes to play ball every night, extremely well prepared and respectful. Everyone who wants to learn - and get his/her money's worth - should seek out the challenge of studying with him.
He is one of the best professors in Baruch. He is always on his game and knows what he is teaching. You will simply love doing his classes because he always keeps it interesting and interactive with all. Two kids and a final (all with a cheat sheet) and a few online has but you can do them in groups. Excellent prof
One of the best profs at Baruch. Fair grader, but it doesn't matter. You will learn so much that you legitimately won't care about the grade. He is patient, clear, engaging and passionate. If you have trouble with something, he'll go out of his way to help you -in class or out. Great course; it's mmediately useful in the workplace.
i always forget to rate the good professors. he's one of them. i really liked his class. very knowledgeable and engaging.
Prof. Millhiser is definitely one of the best professors at Baruch. He made management class so interesting and he is really knowledgeable and passionate about what he's teaching. There were 2 midterms and a cumulative final. We had 5 assignments, most of which can be done as a group. We also did 2 interesting simulations. You need to work hard.
Great professor. Fair grader and very interested in the subject. It's not all about the grade when you take this course, its about learning. Everything you do in class is applicable in the real world. Professor is always willing to work through problems with you at your own pace during office hours. He made the course awesome.
AMAZING class, one of the best I had at baruch. Honest, fair grader, inspirational. His last speech changed my life and I had passed along to some many people. I wish all professors were like him. And i wish all students would come up to him and say how great he is.
Loves teaching with the Socratic method, meaning for the first homework you will be spending hours of your life cursing him out because he only taught you a small portion of it. Overall, I thought he taught the material well, however he expects you to have a base in management that many students didn't have. 3 tests, pretty fair this class is hard
WPM is amazing, truly engaging, but you gotta come to class to understand the material. significant amount of work, don't take if you're a free rider. Truly interesting, I enjoyed even the final (10 questions all open ended, some calculus, project flow diagrams etc, everything from lectures). no textbook needed. the book to read is "The Goal"-a must
This guy is a complete waste. He goes WAY too hard, its like he wants us to fail. Im a 4.0 student and i work hard in everything i do. This guy will literally have you doing homework for hours. He gives so much material and its extremely hard. You couldn't pay me too take this guys class again. I have no idea how this guy sleeps at night.
Great guy. Terrible professor. Very smart and educated, but he's the type of guy that has to be the smartest person in the room. He wants to show how smart he is and takes every opportunity to do so. Gives really tough assignments and doesn't even go over them. You really have to learn everything on your own. Do yourself a favor and STAY FAR AWAY!!
Stay away from this guy as much as you can. He may be good for a graduate course but not for undergrad. 3121 giving a test on 6-7 chapters, and barely reviewing anything in class. He does more talking (don't get me wrong he is actually very smart) but that is not how you teach a course. He does not do problems, he does not explain problems properly
Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. This guy won't teach you a thing, you have to learn it all on your own. He is the first professor I've had that will assign homework on new material (before he even introduces it) then quizzes you on it the day you get back. BEFORE HE EVEN GOES OVER IT!! You will dedicate your life to his class
This class is not for lazy students. Professor Millhiser gives 4 group projects, 6-8 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final (cumulative). He also lets student play a simulator game where you have to apply all the concepts learned in class. The only thing is that he doesnt curve. If you get a 89.99 he will give you B+. Take him if you want to learn.
I took this class has a Hybrid class. No lie, the class itself is hard. There is a simulation at the end of the semester, make sure you understand the material . The professor himself is awesome, always available to answer question and respond really fast to emails.
This professor is really nice and respects all students. HOWEVER, he gives impossible assignments and his exams are super hard. His class will take over your life. He doesn't teach in class and expects u to understand everything that he assigns (alot of which the textbook can't help). If you want a good grade, you will need to go see him constantly
Nice guy. Lectures are decent. Really have to read the textbook because he makes you learn by yourself. Sometimes answers aren't even found in the textbook! Gives good feedback. Easy grader. Shares a lot of his experience from the outside. He knows his stuff too. His midterm was easy but the department final was hard though.
This class is TOUGH. 4 group assignments, 8-10 hw assignments on connect, 1 simulation, 1 midterm, 1 final. He never taught anything past the first class. He rambles, making you have to learn on your own. Allow cheat sheets but doesn't tell you whats on the exam. Departmental final avg was a 52 so he had to curve, barely. Class is very hard, avoid!
First off, the class isn't as hard as other people make it out to be. The low rating is solely due to the professor; he is very pretentious. He glorifies all his experiences, wasting lots of time in a HYBRID class. If you're in his class, just form a group in the first class and don't bother going to the rest, there are better uses of your time.
You'll learn in this class. Clear presenter, invested in students understanding how to manage processes. Happy to take questions out of left field if they're asked. Otherwise, focused on covering as much material as possible. Crams a lot of work into a 1/2 semester course - totally worthwhile.
Great professor. Easy to understand, gives interesting lectures and gives out only 2 exams. Kind of quirky but he's funny and very passionate about what he teaches. One of the best in the school.
He is very passionate on what he is teaching. He explains his grading criteria and is very specific on the assignment. You'll do 5 group assignments, "The Goal" report in group, midterm, and final exam. Make sure to pick your good group members. Come to class because if you miss on class, you will be lost. Loved his class. He is willing to help!!!
He is just awesome. I enjoyed his every class. Though the course is hard but he is easy grader and makes class enjoyable.
HARD class, amazing professor. The class subject was interesting because of how e taught it, his lectures were interesting, and some days we played games to learn a subject. Loved him, he grades easy and hes always available to talk.
He wants his students to succeed but he makes the class harder than it really is. Makes test so complicated you forget the basics. He doesn't give multiple choice and is very indecisive on how he wants to make the exams. He has good intentions, but can't really teach.
Was skeptical at first because my friend didn't like her experience with the prof. I'm glad I didn't let her experience scare me because he is a great professor. Super passionate about the major and is willing to speak with students outside of class. Very lenient grader (OM is mainly based on assumptions), but you do need to study. Take him.
I usually don't leave reviews for professors I have taken. We all get the grades that we deserve and based how much effort we put towards the class. I will be honest, Professor Millhiser can't teach. I was so lost because I did not know is the efficient way study for this class. Midterm was T/F almost 50 questions. Final cumulative 50 questions.
Best Professor at Baruch.
You have to pay attention and attend lectures to do well in this class. His lectures are fast, so you have to review after and study. Exams are relatively challenging. A lot of T/F and a few MC.
Professor. Millhiser is genuinely a cool guy, but this had to of been the worst class I have ever taken at Baruch. His lectures do not match the HW in any way, most of my class spent 5+ hours on each quiz alone. Listen to me and stay away from this class. Find a prof that goes by the book and not their own material, you will thank me later.
Easily one of the worst professors at Baruch. Take this class with another professor if possible. If I was an undergrad I would 100% drop the course, but I graduate next semester so it wouldn't make sense. Overall I love Baruch but this guy is the worst teacher I've ever had besides the old teachers that can't use computers.
This professor is obviously distracted by his personal/family life. Always in a aggravated mood when on zoom. He's rude and the entire class is lost. No one has a clue what's going on. We basically teach ourselves. Not worth the money. Avoid.
Worst professor at Baruch. AVOID. we have a book and you expect the prof to go with the book but he makes his own topics and expects you to learn it with his crazy lectures. Homework is nothing compared to exams. He makes up his own questions on exams and you just sit there wondering why you spent 4 hours doing homework when the exam is different.
To be honest, it's not an essay A class. If you want to find answers from Chegg or something instead of figuring it out yourself, go take anyone else. I promise, if you work with him, read his materials, do the team works, he will be nice, this class will be nice. Assignments and exams are not hard for me.
Too theoretical and the materials provided in the course can be used as referenced only. sometimes he can be delusional and crazy; for example, he ask your to imagine ignoring road situation while driving car.. such example is unrealistic, meaningless and misguided. weird. though I got good grades, some assignments are just to unrealistic.
I feel that his class is actually the best You have to put in work BUT you will learn. The downside is that you have to get a good group to work with. I had great group members and we enjoined the online class. Dr. Milhiser prepares his class and he is always willing to help. I am taking him as a professor for next semester. I highly recommend him.
very disrespectful, didn't know a professor would judge you based off appearances. It seems as this professor grades you based on how much he likes you personally. Got an 5/30 on a peer review assignment, for the reason being "dishonest" with grading team members, and rating was "too high."
If you wanna teach yourself, then you should take this class. Professor has his own power points, hw's, test and quizzes. He puts you in teams for the entire semester and you co depend on your teammates to get work done. I was afraid to ask questions because he would respond with sarcasm. Not my best experience with his style.
I took him for opm 3000 and taking him again for another class too, although he was kind of rude and snobby at times I like his teaching style and feel as if im really learning things
I won't say its an easy class, but Professor is really passionate about what he is teaching which makes the students engage and learn. I like his philosophy of teaching, you are graded for individual test but based on how you and ur team does counts as the final grade. That alone teaches you how to work as a group when you have different answers.
Be prepared to work in a group every session including during exams. He explains that he does this because in real life you're going to work a lot in groups of people. You will work with the same group for the entire semester. He writes his own material and makes it relatively simple to understand and follow.
He is a harsh grader and not understanding whatsoever.
0/10. Dont take him. Save yourself!
The professor has an abstract fashion in which he teaches and is very heavy on the group work and exam. He choses the groups and it depends on the group to collaborate together and if a few details are missing, he will penalize your grade over it from which i got a B- which i feel should be an A but i guess thats life.
Took hybrid course. Group work each class, working on an exercise that shows a concept from the lessons you watch before class. Then we meet up every other week for an online assignment. Gave long, interesting lectures at the start of each class but they did not help me understand much. Also tests were hard unlike hw but he gives brief study guide
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever taken. Amazing powerpoints, engaging lectures, the mini cases we do really help us learn and apply the material, and you can tell he is truly passionate about what he does. He is a fair grader, as long as you put in effort you'll be guaranteed to have a good grade! Also love the emphasis on team work!
Love this guy! His lectures are simple and he gives real life examples. You'll be put into groups and all the hw are group projects. There's 25 of them. That sounds like a lot but it's doable. He has a lot of operation/consulting experience so he knows what he's talking about. Exams can be tricky but if you study & ask questions you'll be fine!
Why wouldn't you want this professor? Knows what he is teaching and knows how to present it. Actually talks to the class rather than reading off a powerpoint. Graded off homeworks and 2 exams (formula sheet!). If you are pursuing a career in project management, take this class, he provides additional resources for those who are pursuing this.
If you enjoy working in a group ALL semester this is your class, if not don't take him. You work in a group of 4 to figure out mini cases but he basically makes you teach yourself since he just briefly reads the case to the class then you work with your group. Spent most of the semester extremely lost but somehow passed thankfully.
Very lecture heavy class, attendance isn't mandatory but PowerPoints don't help in understanding material so I'd suggest you go to class. The material can be confusing so pay attention. He says it's not necessary to buy the textbook but he mainly he references in class and on study sheet for exams, so I'd suggest you buy it. Also some group work.
He wants you to work the material out yourself, but will still gives you a few hints here and there if you ask for it. He knows his stuff. Answers are posted in detail after the due date for every minicase. You'll be working in groups for around half your grade.
THIS MAN IS AMAZING. One of rare instances of a professor being extremely passionate about what he teaches. Lots of mini case group work and he curves very fairly given that you study. Time flies in his class but he's super funny and eccentric but man I highly recommended cuz i was dreading OPM 3000
No lectures, no discussions, read the textbook, and do it all by yourself. Should have bought a $60 online course. The course consists of 25 assignments, 2 cases due every week, and 2 in-person exams, with a one-page cheat sheet allowed. I was expecting Millhiser's lectures but nope and he just wants to raise his overall class grades ratio.
In a word; terrible. If you naturally get this stuff you're fine. But if you're trying to learn something look elsewhere. LOTS OF GROUP WORK. Terrible group structure; only 1/4 group members understands and gives meaningful contributions. This is for opm3740 at Baruch. There's nothing funny about a guy being paid to teach and doesn't teach AT ALL!!
You are put into groups of 4 for the whole semester. Every class you'll have a mini case to solve. Pray you have good group that will colab. His exams are heavily weighted for someone who does not lecture or teach. You learn with your group and exams are based on the mini cases. I think he's a good guy, just don't like his “teaching” style.
He is a good professor, if you have a strong academic foundation, this class can be an easy A. The team based learning approach is a great concept, but it felt unfair since freeloaders weren't held accountable for not contributing, and grades were shared equally among group members. The course consists of 25 case studies, a midterm, and a final.
Professor Millhiser's OPM3000 class is a real gem. Lots of group work, but it's worth it - his lectures are engaging, and he makes the material easy to grasp. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for exam prep.
The professor teaches by explaining the basics and then giving you mini cases every week to work through as a group. The mini cases are at an appropriate level of difficulty to be completed within class time, leading to minimal work outside of class other than prereading the cases. Group midterm, Individual final. No presentations.
The difficulty of the class depends on the people in your group, if you're lucky, it will be easy/fun. You're graded on the groupwork mini cases, a midterm, a final, and peer eval. Textbook isn't needed, most info is in his slides. Study the slides closely, esp the verbiage, and you'll be set for both exams. Very passionate and caring professor!
He has passion, he really want us to learn. Ngl, this was my course with the lowest grade. Half of the grade is based on the hw with your group but at least for me the exams were mad difficult. I expected a C but I ended up up with a B I think if u take it you will definitely learn but dont expect an A
Does not teach
Don't take this class! He is passionate, but his attitude can feel arrogant rather than encouraging. He often dismisses mine and other students questions, made an inappropriate remark about a group my family is part of, and provides little guidance or practice before exams or group projects, making our group spend hours outside of class to finish.
If you are interested in operations, take this class! Yes it's hard, yes you need to do group work, yes the exams are difficult, but if you truly want to learn about operations and the inner workings of management and if you are prepared to put in the effort, take this professor! He is incredible at what he does and we need more teachers like him!
The class's fun, very informative and you will learn hidden parts of operation mgmt. The exam is way harder than you think. If you care about your grade, don't take him.
