Very very very easy class. He is not a very good teacher though, stutters alot and is super slow at moving on with a point, go every now and then to find out when your tests are gonna be and only show up on those days, other than that attendance is definitely not necessary. If you don't care to learn anything about govt, but need an A take him!

He is very genorous, nice, and considerate about every body's opinions. He likes to listen and mention both sides of the "argument" or whatever the case is, which he is also very unbiased in which he does not force his opinion on other students.

Prof. Parent is a wonderful instructor. All the negative comments are coming from young unmature students not yet having enough experience in college courses. He is a walking book with lots of knowledge to offer those that will listen. It was a great class, attendance is a factor, his tests were hard, so studying is a must.

It gives me a feel of a university class in the sense that there is more to class than just a "lecture". The tests aren't to bad either just read the book and listen in class and you'll do great, he's really easy-going too.

this young professor knows his stuff about govt and very enthusiatic. he is witty naturally which makes govt interesting which makes you want to learn. his phrase "there are no right or wrong answers" to opinions make it easy to interact in class discussions. he deserves to be full-time at san jac so that he is accessible to students when needed.

GREAT PROFESSOR! 4 tests and a 20 point essay for each test. Really no need to go to class just make sure you to go to the class one week before the test to get the review. All i did was study the key terms on the review and wrote the essay and I made an A. His lectures arent bad if you decide to go. A+ professor!!!

Very easy class! Just do the review. Everything that is on the review is on the test. Know the terms he tells you to know and you will get an A. This class was a breeze. He gives easy extra credit on every test and then curves all the tests. Grade is just the four tests. Final not comprehensive.

Mr. Parent is a great teacher, be sure to listen to him carefully in lecture and you will be safe on tests. Great person to have a conversation with, talk to him after call and he will always help. Parent was very understanding about students having conflicts during class time amd let us leave. I took him in a night class, and he made us stay the entire 3 hours, but the class itself was very easy and straightforward. Posts the powerpoints and reviews online! If you are taking this class online, DO NOT buy the outline! Outline is not helpful at all. Overall, he is a teacher and replies to emails fast. He is willing to help out, just make sure you read the chapters and you will make a good grade. He assigned 2 chapters a week, which was a bit hard when you have other ch. to read from other classes.

Great class. Easy fun and gives extra credit... I took him for 1 in class and 2 online. Online it was pretty similar structure. One quiz a week. Mid term, discussion boards and final. You just have to discipline your self and force yourself to read ALL chapters... A++++ for him. too bad he doesn't teach history !

Very easy to get an A in his class. He uses PowerPoint so if you're smart, you'll print them out before class and highlight and write notes on them. Took this class for both gov 2305 and 2306.Class is very easy but boring.You have to read over 16 chapters about 20-40 pages each and then take a timed 20 question quiz.The test are easy straight off the power points and quizzes.Everything is on blackb. I enjoyed this class I think he made it sort of easy to understand. If you are one like me who doesn't know anything about politics take him! A lot of reading is required! He is a really good professor! I took US Gov with him. Reading each chapter is a must but it is easy to find the main topics and they are on the tests. Lectures can be boring but aren't they always? I had Mr. Parent for dual credit government. His lectures take up the entire class and his tests are easy if you study for them. I was one of the few that actually made an a in the class. Fact is, read the book, and you'll make the highest grade you can. Nice guy overall, jokes around here and there.

I had Mr. Parent for a 5 week summer class. You need to really pay attention during lectures and read out of the book in order to pass. There was an exams every week along with online quizzes we had to take. He was very helpful with any questions I had. As long as you study and do the work you should pass.

I took Texas Government. Amazing and helpful teacher! The best way I found for studying is to read the three chapters that are on test (the day before the test)and study power points. That's how you make an A. Hes a democrat but doesn't force his ideas on anyone. Great Professor and I learned something even though I dont like the subject. Take him!

There isn't much to say about this classprofessor besides informative. I'm not big on politics or anything government related, but he created a curiosity in me. I am in 4 ONLINE MINIS and currently have a 99% in his class. Easy A, as long as you turn everything in. You only need to buy the access code, I didn't use the book. Good classprofessor.

Overall he's pretty easy. Quiz & discussion board every week, after 3 quizzes you have an exam. A paper at the end of the semester. BUY THE TEXTBOOK! When it came to the quizzes I just scanned the book for the answers, that's what I found easiest. All the answers to quizzes are in the book. Few answers on exams are from previous quizzes.

I took this class online and it was not so bad. You'll have to write short essays that is included in the (4-5) exams. The research paper shouldn't be hard if you actually learn something from what you're reading each week. I believe he drops a few quizzes, which really helps. He is really good at emailing you back, i know that is important!

Get ready to read the whole text book. Quizzes (12) are easy as are the exams (4) if you read. Paper to write. Short 300 word essay on each exam. Discussion board (12). Instructions are very clear so there was no need for me to communicate with him. You can get an A if you put some effort and just read.

I wanted to drop the class in the first week due to not quite understanding the content and knowing how to study. I contacted Mr Parent and he advised me on what I needed to do and the different resources I followed his direction and my grades improved tremendously.

I took his class online for the summer. There was Discussion Boards and quizzes every week which were not hard just have to read the text book. There is an exam with a 300 word response that you can do before the exam that was due each sunday. One research paper and he drops one of your lowest quiz and discussion board grades.

I am currently taking him for GOVT 2305 (8 week online class) and he is by far the BEST online teacher I have taken. Very clear about his expectations. As long as you do the work you will be fine. Half of your grade is a research paper and discussions. If you meet his requirements then you will receive the full points.

Lecture heavy, but you still have to read. Awesome professor, just very difficult. He can be confusing or misleading, so just listen CLOSELY to what he says, then ask for clarification. The exams are a bit of a curve ball, but doable. Hard to do well with the workloads, so you can never be too sure where you'll be asked questions from.

I took his honors class, BEST professor ever! Easy A if 1. Take notes during his lectures, (pay attention where he puts emphasis on) 2. Overall you can tell that th professor is knowledgeable and really passionate about his students & his subject. He's really respectful too! HOWEVER, (I'm a gov major) I wouldn't recommend him to someone who just wants an easy A like most gov classes. His tests are hard but take notes, do the Inquisitive activities, and read his ch. outline.

Very easy class, just a lot of work. The research paper is worth a bunch and gave us all As. The website he uses for quizzes is annoying, but you keep going till you make the grade you want. You dont need the textbook, I found everything online. Just do the work and youll make an A.

Professor Parent is worth it. He replies to emails and is a very easy grader. That being said, this class is very vigorous assignment wise. You have 3 discussions 3 quizzes and a test every week depending on how long the course is. You have to put the work in or you will fail. But if you put in the work its an easy A.

Everything is on quizlet. you need to actually be online during your class time because he made everything only accessible during class time, but everything is easy. He also gives you time to do it so he isn't lecturing while you do your assignment. He also answers emails fairly quickly.
