Never take him for Calc 3. He's ok for lower math classes but the worst ever for Math-292. He always does problems wrong, & students always correct his mistakes. The tests are horrible, he puts things on there he didn't cover. You have to teach yourself everything. UR grade is based on the tests. More than 1/2 the class didn't even come to class.

Lecture is extremely unclear. Tests are not that easy. There are always some challenging problems. Avoid him if you can.

Probably the worst teacher I have had. He makes a lot of mistakes during his lectures and takes too much class time dwelling on them completely distracting from the lecture. He is very unenthusiastic and ill-prepared for each class. Would not recommend for anyone.

He's funny. Suggested to do a random problem to show us how he's not stupid. Ended up having to look up the solution to get it right. Moral of the story is he shouldn't be a teacher his lectures are terrible, makes many mistakes, and students have to teach themselves. He would be better off out of a classroom!! Avoid him!!

I had to teach myself for this class, his lectures usually end up in doing one example that he is not able to solve. His quizzes and tests are problems very similar to the book, so doing the homework helps and having Chegg's study guide. He drops 2 quizzes out of 12 and drops 1 test out of 3. Overall very easy if you are willing to teach yourself.

He's a horrible teacher. I had to teach myself everything. He thinks as he writes on the board and the problem ends up not making sense. His jokes aren't funny. There is a quiz every week with a maximum of 3 questions. Tests are never more than 13 problems. He's very unclear. He doesn't grade work on time. But there is only about 6 problems on HW!

Painfully dull class. Tests almost always contain mistakes and have notation that isn't used in the book or homework.

This class was quite possibly the worst one I've taken at dvc. I don't know to this day how I even passed. I had to teach myself the entire semester, he was as helpful as a pet rock. Its clear he hates teaching, he's always late to his class, brings his lunch to eat and also doesn't know the material as he teaches himself the lesson as he writes.

Very very lazy and apathetic teacher. He is often late and is unenthusiastic about the material. He makes so many mistakes during lecture and wastes so much class time trying to fix his mistakes. It gets to be ridiculous. He just comes to class unprepared and wings it. So be prepared to teach yourself everything for this class.

absolutely the worst professor. Unprepared for lecture. not familiar with the course materials. he has no passion in teaching. You won't learn anything in his class. Avoid him at all cost!

THE WORST!! I can't even believe DVC hire him to teach. He confuses himself all the time during the lecture, and the test includes everything except what he taught in class. If you are looking for get a bad grade and learn nothing, you can consider his class

This is quite possibly the worst professor that I have ever taken. The entire semester we were behind. Do not take this class unless you want to teach yourself. I emailed and asked the professor for about 2 months to get me and update on my grade and he kept saying it would be hard to get a number since we haven't finished all the work. DO NOT TAKE

Parks is honestly the most incompetent professor I've ever had. Although the class was super easy since Parks is a pushover and very lenient grader, Parks is a horrible professor. Parks would routinely mess up during lectures and spend 30-60 min trying to find and correct his mistakes. Don't feel like I've even learned what discrete math is.

its a trap! do not take this professor ever. if you still in his class right now just drop it. he was very strict and is a tough grader now. change your mind before its too late.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!!! He says "you can leave if you want, quietly.." halfway through class, no one gets it, he is really boring... Got a D :( Whatever you do, do not bother with Parks. Not to mention, a week before the final he "wasn't sure" what the final would cover... lol

If you're not willing to do a lot of reading by yourself and teach yourself the material, then do not take him. He's extremely disorganized and makes MANY mistakes in his lectures, then spends a ton of time trying to find said mistakes. He also has a tendency to ramble. However, he gives a bit of extra credit and his exams are very straightforward

Quiz/test, 2 easy questions. The teacher however, needs a lot of work. He NEVER checks or replies to emails. If you can't make it to class more than twice, you will get dropped. He dropped me because I got really sick and he didn't see my emails. He claimed he would reinstate me (4 times), but didn't. Dropped half the class. Easy A, don't get sick.

Don't take this class. The teacher is not responsible, messes up on his own problems at least twice (usually more) every day, and is super monotonous. He said he puts extra credit on the final... don't believe it. He doesn't grade the homework until the last few hours of the entire semester. Don't take, it's too hard to learn with this teacher.

If you can't learn by yourself DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This class is graded solely on 4 tests, webassign, and the final. Exam 1, 2 are computation based but 3,4 is proof based. The professor has trouble using his ipad/zoom , he mumbles, and often messes up his own examples. I only managed to pass because I took math195 and knew how to write proofs.

Messes up a lot during lectures and gets very confusing. If you truly care about learning, then don't take him or else you'll be forced to learn most of the topics on your own in order to understand them.

The biggest issues with Professor Parks is he does not teach effectively online, does not have good time management, and does not communicate via email. He does not break down any core concepts to where you can easily grasp them. This results in having to study yourself for majority of the semester otherwise you will struggle.

I took his 3 week summer course. His lectures are not cohesive and does not explain concepts well. He gets mad at students for trying to explain things to each other. Parks sometimes seems to be trying to figure something out for himself not trying to teach the class. He basically completely teaches out of the book.

Took his summer class for 194. Does not know how to teach stuff. All his lecture was reading the theorem out of the book and proving them, and makes it so confusing. I learned more through YouTube. Not a lot of homework and tests are easy. Also he is an easy grader. Do not waste time listening to his lecture. You are better off on your own.

(P1) This rating will be split into multiple parts. I chose Parks as a professor based on other ratings saying he was a "chill" teacher and wasn't a hard tester. I was lied to horribly. This class is a three week summer course that covers 7 chapters. You will be "taught" around 2 chapters a week.

(P6) Overall, if you would like to have the worst professor you have ever had and spend three weeks struggling on your own without any help, then you might as well take Parks.

Hard To Understand, Prepare to do lots of self-learning

Parks is the most terrible math instructor I have met in my life. His lectures are impossible to understand and you'll be studying on your own for the most part (hence the level 5 difficulty). He is incredibly rude and cusses all the time, which adds to his already unbelievable unprofessionalism. I doubt he even understands the material himself tbh

Professor Parks is not a good teacher due to the fact that he does not break down the material well enough for most students to understand the new concepts. Despite having online lectures, they provide virtually no value and you WILL have to find outside resources if you want to pass the class. Do this class only IF you are good at self-learning.

I hated his class, he gets lost in his own problems even in exams! He had typos that made equations impossible to solve. Homework is easy tho, but exams are impossible. No retakes but we do get a cheat sheet. His practice exams are also very different from the actual ones. I'd rather have someone passionate abt the topic and wants you to succeed

Learned everything about Calc III from the textbook. His lectures on Zoom were hard to follow because he was disorganized and felt like he didn't know what he was talking about. Lots of homework online. If you do them tho, it will help you with exams because they are straight from the homework. No quizzes. Extra Credit problems on exams.

Insanely boring lectures. Never prepared for class. We had to correct so many errors in the middle of him solving example problems! At the very least, his tests were the easiest I've taken in my entire life.

Worst professor I've ever had. I cannot tell you one thing about what linear algebra even is despite getting an A in the class. I stopped going to his lectures once I realized that I would be better off trying to figure it out myself, rather than listen to this guy ramble on for 2 hours. I would take him again for the easy grade, he's a nice guy.

I didn't know professors could be this bad. I took the 3-week summer section for Linear Algebra. If you plan on doing this, please self-study a lot. If you do, the tests will be easy. But beware because you'll have tests with only 5 questions in them, worth 10 points out of 50. If you get one of them wrong, that's -20% of your test grade.

Took summer course. He rushes lectures and makes mistakes very often. He also gets lost in his own work and seems unprepared for lecture everyday. Lectures are so unorganized you're better off learning the concepts on your own. Tests and final is 88% of your grade. The only good thing is that he drops 1 test and 4 homework assignments.

Please listen to me. This is the worst teacher I've had. He does random problems on the board and jumps from one to another (in the middle of it). The class is test heavy and he does absolutely nothing to help you. You have to do it all on your own. Extremely unorganized and all over the place, would never take this class again. Heed my warning!!!!

Took him for calc 1, would not recommend. over complicated everything and couldn't figure out canvas so everything was behind
