His review is extremely helpful, study guide for the test and for the short essay part, he will have them out for you. You'll learn and you'll remember stuff from this guy later on. A lot of extracredit! Look for cool teacher of Bio, he is it!

He's honestly a very good anatomy Prof. He's fair, helpful, and you learn a lot from him. His exams are pretty straight foward as long as you go to class and study his assignments then there should be no problem earning an A in this class. I highly recommend him.
Prof. Poehner is a wonderful anatomy prof. He's extremely nice, helpful and fair. Extra credit on all lecture exams and most lab practicums. As long as you do your fair share then there is no reason why you can't earn an A. I highly recommend him.
buy the lab book, it's very helpful for the quizzes, don't buy the lecture book, it is useless. Quizzes everyday. very persuasive. a lot of extra credit. emails study guides and answers to hw. lecture exams are off of study guide and offer help when it comes to setting up for lab practicums cuz you will get the answers. trust me..this is coming fro
very good teacher. I recomend every one to take his class
If you think your going to get an easy A, think again. You have to study an average of 3 hours per lecture hour and he will tell you that up front. Study the homework assignment they will come in handy during the test.He will take the questions and re-word them. Test are Multipule choice, fill in and Short answer. Extra creidt is ans. and ex. essay
Super Easy grader. Cares about his students performances and offers tones of extra credit. He may not be the best lecturer, but his exams are almost completely based on his hwk assignments. No tricks with this prof. which is hard to find.
he is very straight forward, he tells you what to study. I highly recommend him to everyone. But, you do need to study the lab exams. Most of the lecture exams are from h/w. Take him, you will enjoy anatomy. Lots of EC too.
His class can be difficult if you don't do the work. Lot's op memorization. He skips alot in his lectures and don't believe him when he say's you'll get EC if you answer questions or identify anything. I never got my EC.
Lots of extra credit but too much memorizing in his class esp. lec. exam he would test everything ` in other words you find nowhere you can concentrate on studying. Not recommand to take this professor if you don't have strong biology-related background.
He is not too bad if you study hard and complete all works and EC. Attendance is not mandatory but you may miss EC in class if you leave early. He usually gives out EC in class if a student leaves early.
He can be hard if u don't study hard. But if u study hard you will do well in his class. He gives lots of ec on the 1st lecture exam so study hard and get a head start. Some of his tests ? n essay ? r from d assignments so if u know it by heart then u will likely do well on the test n in the class. His tests are mult. choice, fill in, and essays.
This instructor underestimates students he barely meets and never motivates them. This is why so many students drop hs class because of his lack of helping his students improve their learning in Anatomy. "I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING THIS INSTRUCTOR FOR ANY COURSE!!!!!"
Answers emails daily, and you'll get study guides if you ask him over email. Study guides tell you what to test, and his tests are based on the study guide, so don't complain that he tests everything. Also, be prepared to spend 3-4 hours studying daily, so unless you're really confident, don't take another class.
Very bad demeanor, very rude, too much work and none of his help was within him...oh, and unorganize. always assisting the same student. very dicriminating!
Very bad instructor! He confuses everyone. His lectures are not good. He has favorites.
Mr. Poehner is extremely rude, condescending and he even made my female friend cry after class when she asked for her grade. What a jerk. Do yourself a favor, don't take this guy. He teaches students at a pre-med level and will overwork you with quizzes every week! also he corrects himself a lot and confuses his students. worst professor ive had
bad teacher, you have to ask him for a break,he dont like you he will tell you to drop his class.you ask him a question about his lecture and he gets upset. you go to school to learn not to be punished by him. he needs to be reported in the school.so they take actions about it.
mr. poehner is the worst teacher teaching anatomy. very rude, and he really does not care about students because his attitude is bad.only 10 percent of the students stay in his class and the rest drop or fail.he is very incomprehensible. if you take his class you will know. not recomended.
This teacher is rude ant does not care about anyone. I dont think anyone should take him. He should not be a teacher. He likes to make fun of you and gets mad when you ask a question. This man should not be called a teacher. Most of the time he does not know what hes talking about. He does not give extra credit. DONT TAKE HIM YOU WILL JUST GO CRAZY
Study hard and you can pass the test. He has a big heart to teach. I feel Lab manual is helpful.
He's hard. You have to study, you have to pay attention and you have to participate in Lab! He's a little off sometimes but he gives tons of slack, study guides, outlines, moves testing & quiz dates, etc. People who say he's "impossible" obviously don't know how to study or like it too easy.
Not an approachable teacher. Cannot interact with students. Very rude. Does not cut you any slack. He makes the class feel scarry.
Study, study...Best advise w/ this prof. He does have favorites. Just call him on it!He will make effort. I believe him to be good, just very hard, then again it is ANATOMY :) His lab quizzes are usually from lab book. Good Luck!
Anatomy is a hard class to teach. He helps a lot. Give a lot of tools to study. Excellent character. Take him, he would give you a lot of extra credit.
Great professor. Anatomy class is a hard class overall, but this teacher will try its best to make it enjoyable and educational. Gives out study tools and extra credit, quizzes are easy. Study hard!
Great Professor. He is funny and very helpful. He expects you to study everyday for about 3 hours and carry the info with you to another class. He is very easy to approach to and talk to. RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN ANATOMY AND MAJOR IN SCIENCE FIELD.
Dr. Poehner is a hard professor no doubt...and his favorites -PLEASE NOTE are those who work their tails off!He loves those that really try and study. You have to study but he rewards with extra credit. There is no reason anyone should not pass this class...but it's not easy and alot of memorization.
Prof Poehner is actually a pretty cool guy. His class isn't boring and he teaches the subject well. Record his lectures. Anatomy isn't an easy subject, you need to study hard! He gives A LOT of extra credit so it's very possible to get an A.
This professor expects to much(study like u have no other class or life)lectures are extremely vague and he only touches lightly on the subject then expects you to study for hours on end as if you had no other engagements except for his class. he constantly waste valuable class time, gets off topic, and does not help at all. DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE!
This professor is an absolute disgrace to science and all who teach . what a waste of my time to have taken this course. he expects you to study your xxx off while he waste class time bs-ing.
ppl who complain about this cls DO NOT deserve to be in college. no way u can get less than a C! grades fair + TONS of EC! it's sad how more than half the cls dropped. if u don't take ur edu seriously, don't add the cls so others who do have a chance. thx dr poehner!
his lectures include stuff that is not on the tests so he only confuses you with extra information. he says that most students aren't used to his "teaching method" but his just not clear on what he will be testing you on. He's knowledgeable of the subject but doesn't have the skills to teach it.
Difficult content yet very easy to get an A... Frankly, if u fail the class, please don't get into a science related career! Intelligence or motivation isnt your strong point.I've never seen so many extra credit points provided in a single class. He has a website that provides all the info needed to pass the class.

Teacher Poehner use different text and authors than students. I ask him for help to form a group. However, he complains. Stuents take good notes for studying; he says student writes down notes is rude. Although he gives extra credit, he is unclear to what he teaches. He suppose to use same textbook with his studnets for this class.
Teacher Poehner is rude. No matter students do right things. He always think he is the only one is right. He should use the same text with his students. Teacher Poehner gives too much quizes, yet he has sixty perfect students drop his class. Yes, it is truth he gives quizzes to do his job. The instructor needs to think why many students drop.
really unclear, has favorites. He does not use a set textbook. Very forgetful and gets off topic about 50% of the time. Extremely rude, but he does know his material. If you are planning to take the class just for credit highly not recommended. I suggest having previous knowledge of subject.
Though his class is difficult and sometimes he can be one minded, he still is a good teacher. He teaches you a lot of info so be prepared to take good notes and definitely recommend recording his lectures and getting a copy of his powerpoint slides. Loved the lab though =)
Dr Poehner is a smart ass. Makes bad jokes in class that some students may feel uncomfortable with. Despite all that. He is very thorough with his material. He gives a lot of quizzes to ensure the students are not slacking off which is a GOOD thing. He also gives a ridiculous amount of extra credit.
Enrolled this past summer 11. I had a great time learning from Dr. Poehner. He lectures on everything you need to know for the class, labs, & exams. Pay attention+participate+write good notes+study = A+. This is a intense subject to learn, so take it seriously and devote the time required. He's a super smart guy and students can learn from him.
Prof. Poehner is a kind man, he is an excellent teacher and very passionat. He is a great prof, IF you want to go to med school. He is very intensive and goes overboard on material. He feel that you need to know and grasp every single thing that he teaches. His test are extremely hard. Good luck if you decide to take his class
Dr.Poehner is not an easy professor, but he very knowledgeable and you will learn a lot from him. He gives out a lot of quizzes but it's a good way to keep students from slacking off. His test are very difficult, but he gives out a ton of extra credit. To get an A all you have to do is invest the time and study the material!!
Dr. Poehner's class is difficult for someone who does not put in the time to study the material. It is not impossible to receive an A in the class if you study the material. I am not saying that the class is a piece of cake, which it is not, but if you study you will pass the class. You will learn a lot from this professor guaranteed!
Took him over spring semester and it was intensive but you leave knowing SO MUCH. He gives you so much information you might feel overwhelmed, but stay on track, read the textbook chapters BEFOREHAND, listen intently during class, review his notes, and you're set. He provides extra credit opportunities on the exams!
Took his class in the Spring 2012. Very good teacher, pay attention take good notes and study study study and you will pass the class, he is very helpful and approachable. Some oppurtunity of extra credit on exams, take advantage very helpful.
Not bad of a teacher his a nice guy and funny but very overwheming with the load of info in every lecture and expects us to know everything by the next lecture day.(Quizes are ok; Test extremely hard) If your going for nursing and had never taken a micro or anatomy class before, definitely your best bet is another professor.
Study hard and learn the material. Professor Poehner is dedicated and very passionate, he wants you to learn and succeed in the class. You will not get an easy grade if you do not put in the time. Do not miss class and take notes. Good Luck!
Let me give it to you straight. If you want to go into the medical field, and you need this class, he is a great professor to take. If you don't want to learn anatomy, move along. He teaches things YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW. So, as you continue in your path, everything you will be asked to learn will sound familiar. Trust me, I'm a freaking nurse.
first of all, i want to tell you that if you want to pass the anat. class, you should take professor Reddy because her textbook is very clear to understand the class. in the other hand, poehner's textbook is very confused to understand and pohener is the kind of professor that does not care about students. just try professor Reddy, you will pass.
Great teacher that really wants his students to pass. He even went out of his way to hold extra review sessions outside of class. Also gives Tons of extra credit opportunites to help boost your overall grade. Do the hw and show up to take the quizzes, your final grade will thank you!
Quiz every class, HW every chapter, compare answers with other students, no make up quiz or tests or HW. Arrive 20 mins before class to try and get him to give you answers to homework. Tests based Off he. Mixed tests, full in blank, multiple choice, short essays. He try's to give study sessions outside class. Try to go. Gives lots of extra credit. He was not prepared this semester with new book and slides. Don't complain he gets upset. I got an A. Only cuz I worked hard.
He's a good teacher. I just finished taking him and he's not bad at all as everyone says. You will take a quiz every week for lecture and lab . If you stay on task you will be perfectly fine. Do not slack off at all because it will affect you. Also study all his homework's because that will be on every quiz and test. He is very helpful if you ask.
Your whole grade is based on quizzes and exams. Theres homework but your not graded on it. The homework is verbatim on the quizzes. Quizzes every week for both lab and lecture. The only extra credit offered is on the tests. Not a good professor his lectures are long and all over the place. Not organized at all.
Best Anatomy instructor, he is there for his students. He motivates everyone to do well, and encourages students to apply themselves to the class. No text book is required but it definitely helps especially if your walking into the course with no prior knowledge to the human anatomy. Poehner offers several extra credit opportunities.
This class is extremely overwhelming. You will need to attend lectures and labs. His quizzes are based off the homework so as long as you study that then those should be guaranteed points. Lecture exams were extremely tough, asks extra credit essay questions on material that he doesn't teach. Lab practicums were extremely hard.
He belittles students. Easily irritated by the simplest things such as gum snapping and what he considers unnecessary questions
He is not prepared for lecture, he forgets where he left off and then does not teach everything in the syllabus, but you're expected to know , we were tested on 5 subjects he never taught. The HW beware the answers you come up with are incorrect he has specific answers and won't give them out because "they get posted online"
Good professor, answers your questions Anatomy is not easy but he is caring if you ask for help
I took him fall 2016. Anatomy alone is a hard class and requires lots of studying and dedication. He can be all over the place and very unorganized. But just as long as you do the hw all test are off the hw worksheets and gives out lots of extra credit.
He is the best anatomy professor I have ever had. Don't listen to any of these negative comments, if you work for your grade, you're going to get that good grade, he always has extra credit opps. for each quiz in both lab and lecture. And in Lab he goes through every model with you and really cares and loves what he is teaching.
Caring professor who has no filter Dont take his comments personally Spend time on the worksheets & ull ace exams & quizzes This is a science class its impossible to cover everything so a lot of the learning will be done on your own Many thought this intro class was hard but STEM courses dont get easier Up ur study game if ure a STEM / Med student
Professor Poehner as a person is probably a really cool person cause he is pretty funny, but as a teacher, he is really unorganized. He knows his stuff but is just not that great at teaching it. He's also very forgetful. But the tests in this class are based on worksheets he gives and he does provide a lot of extra credit.
Professor Poehner can seem really unorganized but it comes from him trying to improve his lectures. The worksheets he gives you access to are key to passing his class. Make sure to finish those and study them and you will pass his class. The hardest part of the class is the sheer amount of information so make sure to make flash cards.
Disrespectful, authoritarian, and very unorganized. Got an A in his class, but only because of my own effort. His lectures did not help. I learned everything watching videos and other professor's (MDs) lectures online.
Lectures were all over the place and very unclear. Material was not organized. I would not recommend this professor.
Worst prof. Unorganized. He's a major snapper, hostile, and disrespectful. All quizzes and exams are based on worksheets. However, the exams will throw you every single time. Lab was more relaxed. Study study study. Prepare to suck up for your grade like the rest of the class.
Worst prof. Disrespectful, unorganized, and not suitable to teach. There are quizzes every week for both lecture and lab. Exams were ridiculous and had unrelated material. Do not take him, run and take elsewhere!
He does go off lecture & a bit unorganized but anatomy is a lot of memorization as well. I studied a lot for the exams BUT he gives a lot of extra credit that you can make up. Participate in class and utilize office hours! I recommend reading ahead of time/taking notes & during lecture just adding on your notes.
Professor is a little disorganized, but offers interesting and engaging lectures, and is a wealth of information on the subject. The class is not easy though; tests are a mix of multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short answer and essay. Be prepared to WORK. Weekly quizzes and homework as well. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
The material will be challenging, but Prof Poehner provides his students with all of the tools they need to succeed. Engaging lectures, study guides for each chapter, and lots of extra credit points for participation. If you want to pass his class: read ahead of his lectures, do all of the work, and don't miss class or his zoom reviews.
Hes a mixed bag. Anatomy is challenging no matter who you take, but Poehner makes it a bit easier w/all the test guides and zoom reviews he offers outside of class hrs. With that being said, because he offers so many resources to pass, he does expect you to know everything & participate in class. Can be rude and condescending. Also, lots of rants.
Not the most organized dude when it came to his lectures, but he sure he did provide the resources to pass his class with an A. He cares about his students. He gives a lot of work, but everything he makes you do is on the exam. GO TO ALL THE ZOOM SESSIONS AND DO THE WORKSHEETS. Do everything he gives you and memorize the drawings. You will pass
Professor Poehner's class was great! I really appreciated the time he took to set up the worksheets, study guides, mock exams etc. There is no reason you should fail his class. His grading criteria is straight forward.
I dont want to give anyone the wrong idea because it is work taking anatomy in 5 weeks all the memorization, but professor poehner knew what he teaching. He is dedicated and you can tell he cares about his students. This is the first time he teaches trifecta and would 100 % take him class all over again.
I took Professor Poehner during the 5 week trifecta program and he made the class worthwhile. Anatomy is a heavy based material course, however Poehner made it easier to understand and provided as many resources possible to succeed. He is always looking forward to participation and awards that with extra points. Definitely recommend taking him!
I took professor Poehner for the trifecta anatomy portion. This class was a lot of memorization but if you put in the work and studied enough, it is possible to get an A. Professor Poehner is an amazing professor! He genuinely cares and wants you to succeed. He prepares you well and if you study the material he provides, you will do well!
Hard to organize what he said. And kind of mean?Because all tables are having different types of bones but NOTHING on my table.(◐‿◑)?? Hard to find the answer about hisquestions in worksheet from the PPT he posted and textbook. Having troubles to understanding the video and something he said because no script and handwriting words.
DONT take this Prof. I am currently still taking the class Self taught. The WS he gives you are long they can take anywhere from 3-6h to finsh just one Lec pdf's don't help He gets mad when you don't use his preferred terms. He is DISORGANIZED & he is ALWAYS GOING OFF TOPIC! STUDENTS wanted to REPORT him to the BOARD!
Professor Poehner is very passionate which is why he goes off topic b/c he has so much knowledge to share. Anatomy is hard, there is no way around that. If you put in the time and effort to listen to his lectures, study, and actually try to understand, he really tries to help you. He gives plenty of extra credit and exams are based off the HW.
Do not take this class, the material did not match up. Lab material was 2 weeks ahead of lecture. On top of that get ready to have to study 6 chapters per week for lecture and 4 parts of the body as well. It felt like this class is more on how much one can memorize rather than actually learn.
Remarks about students working while in summer school are inappropropriate. Why we take summer school is dismissive, A Test w 74 questions in just 40 minutes is excessive. Time exams should reflect understanding not speed. Assuming students are like to cheat&making harder on students. # of worksheets&hmwk is overwhelming. Talking while testing!
What made this class frustrating was the fact that the study guides NEVER aligned with the exams. A huge waste of time. The homework and worksheets didnt align with his lectures either.
