Great teacher, not an easy class but he makes it fun and exciting. Very helpful, even plays his guitar during class! Very fun, interesting class discussions!
Pollett rocks as a teacher and as a human. I was frightened of English and he made the class fun and challenging at the same time. Not alot of homework but some reading. Never boring
One of the best classes I've ever had! He is very laid back, and easy to work with.
This man is the Sh** One of my favorite classes. It does require a lot of work, but I've definitely learned a lot, and the class is as fun as you make it. You rock, Willy! (don't call him willy)
Pollett is loads of fun to take a class from I highly reccomend him. Instead of focusing on learning grammar or styles you learn how to write better. It is a pretty unstructured class though so if you can't handle that don't take it from him.
Without question one of THE BEST Weber State has to offer! He is an amaxing person! He actually cares about his students. I ran into him a few days ago after no seeing him for a few months. He not only remembered my major, but took the time to give me advice on it! He has a teaching method that ANYONE will learn from. My favorite professor by far!
This class wasnt about English. It wasn't about writing. It was about him. He sings. Its a show.
Pollett is a very fun teacher. He awlways keeps things lively and interesting.
Pollett is a nice guy. My structured lifestyle didn't mesh well with the chaos in his class. He is a fabulous teacher and very energetic. He makes English interesting. He does require you to be there every day but he also allows you to make revisions on all your papers so you can get a good grade even if you are dumb.
I would take a class from Professor Pollett again any day. He is unusual in his teaching style. You have to be able to think for yourself and not rely on him to make decisions for you. If you do the work, participate in class, and attend class, you will do well. What grade you receive is totally up to what your effort is! Awesome teacher!!!!!
He is an awesome teacher!!! Dont let his looks fool you.. He expects people to be in class but a couples days not in class isn't going to hurt. He doesn't force you to do anything, he basically puts it to the student to decided. To pass the class 1) participate in class 2)Do SOME of the assigned writing assingments 3) Save your work.
BEST TEACHER!!! I loved this class. He actually cares about his students and remembers names and things you have told him about yourself. Don't take the class as lightly as it seems, you definitely need to do your work. Take his criticism and apply it to your papers. Its all about making your papers better so keep improving on them. Great class!
very laid back a lot of writing but I suck at writing and have an A
If you are structured and want an actual english class DO NOT TAKE HIM. But if you don't mind wasting 3 hours a week messing around, take him. You have to go to class, tons of writing compared to other 1010 english but easy if you do it. I did them all just requires time. He doesn't explain so ask questions CONSTANTLY. very unclear in assignments
i hate this guy. he is a terrible teacher. the things that he makes you do in class are retarded and have nothing to do with the course. he gives tons of homework including a huge presentation at the end of the course. i hated his class and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
This professor is fantastic! He makes everyone feel included, but if you need structure, I don't recommend it. If you crave something different, and not the everyday lecture, take this class! It takes a lot of work, but hey! It's college! It's supposed to be a challenge. :]I love him.
Prof. Pollett was an amazing teacher. He encourages student interaction--its mandatory. I felt at ease from the very first day. It is a very interesting class. Don't expect TOTAL organization, its more of an open class but it is GREAT. I'd take it again if i could.
He's the best teacher... People are just lazy. He doesn't just try to make it fun, he is the definition of fun! He really wants you to expand on your writing techniques...
He is a GREAT professor a lot of homework and you must attend class. But he makes learning a lot of fun and did I say HILARIOUS he is the funniest teacher I've ever had he will sing in class a lot. I just wish there were more professors like him. I would definitely take him he is a really great guy and made learning fun.
He is a great teacher. He actually will work with you on any assignment he gives and I've gotten help from him on many classes as well. He makes it fun, but we actaully discuss what we read and write so we can run the class and make our own decissions. He's not some standard professor cramming his ideas down your throat. I would take him any time
I hated english before this class... Now I just changed my Major to english teaching. I really liked him. Best english teacher I have ever had. Definitly take him. A lot of writing but it made me a better writer. He even asks you at the end of the semester to write a cover letter to say what grade you think you deserve... I askd for an A and got on
sir william does make class exciting; we have show and tell! :) he really is fun for sure, BUT if you aren't use to "no structure" then it might be a little difficult at first getting use to his way of teaching. there's alot of work involved and YOU have to decide if you are going to get it done or be layed back about it. so just prepare
Wonderful concern for students and moral of class. Strong teaching ability and incredible how he can make students interact and participate.
Best Teacher I Had thus far. You have reading over the weekend with a reaction paper on monday, word day and more reading on wendsday, and SHOW AND TELL on friday. Be sure to do the extra credit papers, rewrite your papers, use the writing center, and ask questions as to what to do. I am certain that you will get an A in his class if you do that.
This professor is the bomb.com
Great teacher, very fun and engaging.
best class I had this semester. I would take it from him again in a heart beat. made class very fun. had read and responses and then open discussions about it the next class. had show and tell, and word of the day every tues/thurs. not your typical professor.
Pollett is a great teacher. To know exactly what you have to do in his class you have to ask questions. He requires that you participate in class which isn't bad at all. He lets you revise all your work and just wants you to improve as a writer. Take his class you'll have fun and learn!
my advice, do not think twice about about taking English from another teacher! Sir William is an amazing teacher. favorite class I've taken at Weber. He is a BRILLIANT hippy rocker not your average college professor. Relates well to the students, very approachable. He is Legit.
I really enjoyed his class. a lot of reading and writing but not bad (college writing class what do you expect) lets you revise your work. makes class fun. your final paper is a cover sheet on what your grade should be. would highly recommend.
He is a great professor. There is a lot of reading and writing. The readings are dull, but he makes up for them during class time. It was a fun class and he is a funny guy.
Very good professor. Class was fun. He created interest in learning. Creative class discussions. Good use of time. Homework is not difficult but still requires motivation and gets you to think outside of the box.
I loved Professor Pollett class. His makes you think outside of the box. To pass his class you are required to attend and participate. It's not rocket science..you're paying for the class so go and learn. He likes to scare you the first week of class about a research paper but it really isn't as scary as he makes it sound.
Prof. pollett was a great teacher, highly recommend. summary of class: read and respond, go to class, write your final research paper/bibliography and revise your papers. Last paper you write is arguing your grade, I said I deserved an A and got it.
He cares and motivated me to be a better writer. The teachers that make you work are the ones you learn from.
Sir William was unique and refreshing in his approach. He takes a genuine interest and gets to know each student. If you buy into his "I want to write better" attitude and read and respond you receive an A.
I enjoyed every class. Professor Pollet's teaching approach is very stimulating. I didn't want to miss a class and it paid off. I can ssure you that my writing skills improved considerably.Plus intellect is very attractive to me, so I give him an A++ in hotness!
Great fun, This man makes an incredibly boring subject, very fun and a little more interesting. Absolutely recommend!
BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAVE. This guy is not only a great teacher and extremely helpful he also wants nothing more than to see you succeed!!! He will help you in anyway he can and is SO encouraging. I absolutely loved his class and I enjoyed everyday. HE was such an inspiration that I framed the final review he wrote about my final presentation.
I did not like his class. He is very odd. not your normal teacher. He does help you though.
Not your average teacher. Has a unique style, and is a character, but loves to see students excel in writing. Requires lots of reading and writing, but lets you revise and resubmit work. Dreaded English going in, but loved the class at the end. Would definitely take Pollett again.
Best professor I've ever had. He wants his students to succeed and cares about each as an individual. His lectures are dynamic, fun, and always interesting. You learn so much with him. He's a great teacher and a great friend.
William made class very fun and kept it interesting at all times. He has more character to him than any other teacher I have ever had.
I wish he taught more classes. I was only able to take Eng 2010. I wish I could have taken every other English class from him. He was very easy to get along with, and as everyone else has said, he wants you to succeed. He was the greatest teacher I had at Weber State. His enthusiasm and passion set the stage for me for the rest of my time at Weber
One word: amazing.
I really enjoyed this class. I was reinvigorated for school and didnt mind showing up to class everyday. A truly nice guy and really wants everyone to do well.
AWESOME TEACHER! He is funny and outgoing! Tuesday is "word day" and Thursday is show and tell! read and respond assignments due about once or twice a week. Some are boring but not bad. Research paper and presentation on subject you choose! [: fun personality, good singer and very loud
Professor Pollett is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He really cares about each student and helps them explore their own creativity and improve their writing. Everyone should take a class from him!
This was my best professor all semester, I throughly enjoyed going to his class everyday. He is very personable, and wants to get ot know every student. After hte first day he knew almost eveyone's name! Don't underestimte the homework though, I wrote a paper evey night with him. They were short papers, but required
He understands and genuinely cares about each student. You have a reading and response assignment every week. And a research paper due at the end. You get the grade you argue for in a final letter you write to him. I got an A. Not a hard class. Very easy. He is VERY laid back about everything.
Professor Pollett is by far my favorite professor I have had in a long time. He is very enthusiastic about his teaching and is a fantastic teacher. The class itself isn't to difficult as long as you attend class & do your work. He does assign a good deal of reading and writing assignments, but it is surprisingly helpful at the end of the semester.
I hate this class! The way he grades is completely biased based on his personal political views! His class is not structured, and most days are spent wasting time and listening to him teach his own political ideology. I would not recommend him.
I enjoyed going to his class! We would get into great discussions. Very insightful. Lots of laughing. Made English fun! We would have to write a paper almost everyday, but I could see my writing skills improving! SUCCCESSSS! :)
Great professor! Has deep love for literature and writing and helps students discover the same. Grading system is not political, He grades based on daily participation in class discussions, attendance, and written work. No tests or quizes. Class is enjoyable. Expect a new reading after each class.
Alot of writing and reading but it is SO worth it to have William as a professor. He is amazing, and truly wants you to succeed. best professor, ever.
If you want to be inspired, to explore a world of ideas, develop your own writing style, gain insight into various fascinating topics, have freedom to share your opinion and be totally supported in it, take this class from Pollett. He wants each student to succeed. You'll write lots of papers, big research paper at the end. Overall amazing teacher
I fell in love with this class!! Prof. Pollett is an awesome teacher who allows his students freedom for their creativity and opinions. He has NO political agenda!! He is a teacher who is truly genuine, funny, and wants to see each student succeed! I learned a ton in this class! Lots of writing, but so beneficial! Definetly would recommend!!!!
I loved this class! Prof. Pollett creates a classroom environment that allows for creative expression and freedom! He is genuine, funny, and cares about each student! He has NO political agenda! He grades according to the effort and hard work you put into it. You must attend class and there is alot of writing, but it is very beneficial!! A++++++
Professor Pollet is and awesome instructor. He lets you express your opinion and he even encourages it. he makes the class a fun experience and a fun environment. If you dont like English class take it with Professor Pollett and by the end of that semester youll end up loving it.
This Professor was Great! He really wanted all of his students to succeed. He is really helpful. There is a lot of homework. It's not just a chill, fun class. You have to go to class everyday and do all the homework. But the Professor is really fun and sporadic. I would definitely recommend taking this class to anyone.
Mr. Pollet was, hands down, one of the best professors I ever had. I took Intro to Fiction from this glorious man, and he made it an incredibly rewarding experience. Would recommend to anyone. Matter of fact, I created a profile for this site just so that I could talk this guy up. Awesome, awesome professor.
Awesome professor! Funny and passionate about reading and writing. He gets everyone into the subject and he holds no requirement for story lengths or style. The discussions about the stories we read are great and there is never a wrong answer. Noone could take this class and not like it.
Professor Pollett is a wonderful professor! He makes class so fun and interesting! As long as you keep up with the reading and the papers you will do fine! I absolutely recommend his class to anyone that will take it!
Professor Pollett is awesome! His class was very enjoyable and I learned a lot. He does a great job teaching and getting the class involved. I would recommend taking this course from him!
Take this class you will love it! Pollett is the best teacher out there! He the best!
Professor Pollett is awesome! We had a lot of stories to read and write, but he made it such a fun class. I definitely looked forward to it every week. Attendance is mandatory, but it wasn't that hard to do!
"SUCCESS!" Professor Pollett is a wonderful teacher, this was unlike any English class I've had. He may be a bit odd (sorry professor), but he makes the class very enjoyable. You will write 2 research papers, but you have the ability to pick their subjects. It was a great class, and I would recommend it to all!
I am serious when I say Pollett is the best professor I've had at Weber State so far! He is really funny, and tries to engage everybody in the class. There are a lot of readings, but discussing them in class brings new insights. I also think I became a better writer taking this class. I would recommend him to anybody.
easy class but really a waste of time. the ENTIRE semester was student powerpoints about the 2 papers we were assigned- total waste of time. mandatory attendance, but for what? this class was a total waste of time. the teacher is a total hippie! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Professor Pollett really made class interesting and fun. He took time with each paper and promptly returned them back with helpful notes the very next day of class.Papers need to be in on time but revisions are encouraged. Attendance is mandatory. (You won't want to miss a class session anyway) Great Professor. I would recommend taking his class.
Great professor! really makes you work for your grade. lots of papers! but totally worth it in the end. definitely a beneficial course and professor. he's has interesting topics and definitely teaches you something new.
Super Fun and amazing! Really understanding no matter what and was awesome and helping us discuss everything. Wish I could take more classes from him. Just do reading and you're fine.
He is an awesome professor! He grades based on your attendance and doing your work. You dont get graded on your assignments, you just have to do them. He makes the class super fun and entertaining. Definitely take the class from him!
William was probably my favorite professor I've had in my college career at Weber. He made learning fun! His ways are not orthodox, but he creates a great environment in which to learn about writing college level papers. He definitely makes you work for your grade, but he is worth taking this class from.
If you can put up with the constant swearing by the professor, then you may like this class. Not my favorite though.
I took this class last year. I thought William was very helpful to all of his students.
The professor is awesome, he takes all the work you submit seriously, one of his man theories is that this is your education. The class was simple to pass, do your work and you get credit. But it is really up to you to stretch and he will help you do so. Great instructor. Leaves most of the learning up to you if you want it.
Bill's class is such a howling great time! I went into this course with little passion for academia, but I actually found myself excited to go to class on a regular basis (which is convenient, considering he does require attendance). You will write, this is an English class, but he fuels you in a way that makes writing an enjoyable endeavor!
Great professor. Lots of reading, i read the summary online. all you do is write stories, and discuss the short stories you're suppose to read. It's those type of courses where you should know lots of meanings and very opinionated
Pollet is an amazing teacher. He made it fun to pick apart the art of fiction and what makes it so wonderful.
He is a great teacher and allows brings the energy no matter what time of day it is. He also really cares about his students.
Pollett is a great teacher. There is a lot of reading and writing, same as any other English class. Need to go every class period and participation counts for a lot. Hard to get a A, I thought I worked extremely hard and still only got an A-. Overall good class.
Best professor at Weber State. I am going on my 3rd year at Weber and still Pollett is the best! I took his intro to fiction class and never had a dull moment. From the first day of class he engages your mind. There is a lot of reading and writing. But nothing you can't handle, and he is always willing to work with you. Again Best professor!
He is a very fun teacher. Helps me engage my thinking and is very helpful. Actually tries to connect with the students and help them succeed. Favorite English teacher ever.
My favorite teacher ! Kind of like a hippie, makes the class fun and it's easy, almost too easy for me, but I thought he was great! Engaged in conversation and told great stories! Great teacher!
Pollet's the man. I love going to class. It's a hoot. Tons of reading and writing. Class attendance and participation is expected and required. If you try you'll love it. I learned a lot.
You do a lot of participation including going in front of the class and doing presentations. He reviews the assignments and gives you feedback and at the end you will just turn in a profolio of all your professional work. I recommend him! Attendance is mandatory & turn in hw on time!!!! PS he looks like a hippie and he swears here and there.
Most of the time, the assignments there are easy to understand and to do. More importantly, you're very energetic and enthusiastic about teaching us. Keep up the good work!
Pollett was awesome! I was engaged in the class from day one! The use of the textbook was high, we always had reading from the textbook and discussed the readings the next class period. Professors like Pollett are the reason I am in college. I learned a lot from him!
Pollett is an amazing teacher and I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn/have a good time! He has so much energy and knows how to keep the class awake. He is by far my favorite teacher! I had no interest in English and he completely changed my mind. I learned new material that no other English teacher has taught in the past. Take this class!
"Master" Pollett was an amazing teacher. By far the best teacher I have had at Weber State. I am usually a shy person in class, but in this class, I was engaged every day. I used to hate English but Pollett made it fun and very enjoyable. Hands down, I recommend Pollett to anyone that wants to have a fun time in English.
Pollett is a pretty cool guy to take. He is enthusiastic on the subject, and he helps keep you interested. He makes you think a lot, as well as gives feedback on everything you turn in. Another thing I liked is that he wants you to succeed. He tries to help students if they're struggling. In all, I would definitely recommend him.
professor pollett is an awesome guy! he makes you excited to come to class!
Very Disappointed in the grade I received. I didn't miss one day of class and I did every assignment, I think he is a harsh grader and not very specific or clear on what he wants. Disappointing class. Too many pointless days. He's a funny guy, but I don't feel like I walked out with anything valuable.
HE is a great Professor! he is very knowledgeable in his subject matter, smart and very helpful, he is there to answer any questions and always answers backs to emails, he is a hard grader but I feel what I received was fair. Definitely recommend!!!
I despised this class. So much class time wasted, don't take this prof if you want to actually learn new things, all you do it show and tell and word day. Horrible experience, very unclear with the syllabus, how grading actually happens, doesn't use canvas, and beyond arbitrary with the majority of his course. Very disappointing.
Pollett is a fantastic teacher! He made the class exciting, and everyone was always laughing. He makes sure everyone knows everyone else. He's completely flexible on all due dates and assignments. As long as you do what you want, and you attend regularly, you'll pass. I even didn't turn in a few assignments, and I was happy with my grade.
VERY disappointed. Waist of time in many class periods. Not clear on the syllabus or ow grading works. He tried to get us to rate him before we even got our grades. I see why now because he shocks you with your grade at the end. Waist of time, and very disappointed.
William is an fantastic teacher, knowledgeable about the subject, takes great care in parsing papers with important comments to help you out, eager to meet outside of class and in emails. We hardly did any "wasteful" show and tell or word days because the class was engaged and participating in more important things. I recommend William to ALL!
This is the second class I've taken from William. He's amazing. Part of the other reviews seem to be a little disturbed with having to think for yourselves. He's a wonderful informative teacher and if you're willing, you'll learn a great deal.
I LOVED my fiction 2220 class, it was amazing, easy, and so insightful! i'm a business major so i just took it for credits that are required and i want to retake it because of how much i loved it. professor pollett is awesome, he really cares about his students and is so laid back. i highly recommend any class he's teaching.
Wow.. Just wow. This guy is the man! Excellent professor, by far one of the best I've ever had. Really passionate about what he teaches and cares about his students. Not a fan of English and taking it from him hasnt made me one, but if you want a class you'll remember and have fun in, this one is it.
Professor Pollett is the best teacher I have ever had. He learned just as much as we did; we taught him just as he taught us. He supported us not only as students, but as peers. We always knew we could come to him with any problem. In my opinion, there is no person better or more qualified to teach English 2010 than William Pollett.
If you like the whole out-of-box style, consisting of less direction and more suggestion, then he is the teacher for you. If you would like to actually learn specifics about writing or English and you require an organized setting with clear guidelines and expectations, then he is not for you. Great for maybe creative writing, not so much for 2010.
Very entertaining and makes you think, but hard to know what he wanted from me. Enjoyed the class but wouldn't take another class from him.
Easily the best Professor I have ever had. He pushed all of my limits and encouraged me to dig deeper into the things I was interested in. Makes sure you are always writing about topics that interest you! Very funny, and helpful!
I really liked this class and his style. He was very helpful and understanding when personal issues arose. It is kind of frustrating not knowing exactly what he wants from you but by the time you are done with the class you know you have learned a lot. I would love to take more of his classes.
I loved this guy! I really felt in over my head prior to taking my first college English class, but he made it seem so easy. Don't get me wrong, you WILL WRITE PARKING LOTS FULL OF PAPERS, but seriously, I would take his class over and over. He really tried to help you no matter what. He was funny, AND an awesome professor. Look him up on YouTube!!
Loved this class! He was good teacher who makes the students discuss the material. Really enjoyed the in-class discussions and reading materials. Very funny guy and allowed for a lot of writing freedom with his assignments. I really enjoyed the class and would love to take another one if he taught it!
William Pollett is hands down the best professor I have ever had! His passion and knowledge make the class so much fun. You will do a lot of reading and writing, but it is an English class, so you should already be expecting that! He will give honest feedback and makes himself available to students. I wish I could take another class from him!
Professor Pollett, He is an awesome guy! He made class fun. Really helped with an question I had in his class. If you are looking for a good English class, this is the place.
Wow, Professor Pollett. What can I say? Great teacher! This man really helped me with my course work. If I had a problem he was there to help me. Great guy. Nice outfits.. Says he shops at the di. Do the work, come to class, participate and you will get a good grade. Wish my other college professor were like this man.
As long as students go to class and participate they will get the grade they want. Stay up on the homework, which is not hard. There is a lot of reading, but the articles are interesting. Professor Pollett makes the discussion and lectures fun, he is very entertaining. I would highly recommend taking this course from him. You will learn a lot!
I took a class from Prof. Pollett back when I was a freshman. Back then I did not like the class and I gave him a bad review on this website because I did not like the workload his class required. Now I am a senior and I just want to say how awesome his class is. I learned so much that has helped me now through my senior project. Do your homework!
Professor was wonderful, he had the best attitude in class and really got everyone involved. The assignments were actually fun to do because you really chose what you were doing. I would definitely take this class again.
Professor Pollett is a fantastic English instructor. He takes great interest in each individual student's interests and ambitions. He is also very personable, and even knew each student's name by the 2nd week. Writing is a must in class, so bring your writing game. Wish he would have taught grammar in class, but he gave good feedback on papers.
Very encouraging and kind. I enjoyed his class, but his grading system is very confusing. To him, a student that completes all of their assignments and turns them in on time is a "C average" student. If you want an A, you have to go way above and beyond. It was very difficult for me to reach his expectations, but he has taught me to work harder.
He is an AMAZING PROFESSOR!! Totally would take a class from him again! He is more than willing to help and answer any questions you may have. He is really fun and because of that, it has made me want to go to class and participate. He is laid back and easy going, his assignments are easy, but i have learned a lot more from him now than ever before
Professor Pollett is not only the greatest professor I have ever had. He is the greatest teacher. I took 1010 and 2010 from him and now that my class has come to a close, I filled with sadness. The world needs more people like William Pollett. I wish I could take every class from him.
Professor Pollett was awesome! He was genuine and actually cared about our education. At first he when he was super boisterous I had this "What have I gotten myself into?" feeling, but the more I attended the more he grew on me. He learned everyone's names and made sure to be kind when we were all attempting to decipher the text he assigned.
Pollett is the best English teacher ever. He answers any questions you have. His assignments are very flexible; he'll give a reading and you get to write about anything pertaining to the reading. He treats students as equals. The classes are always fun. He allows a lot of student interaction so I felt comfortable talking in class. Take his class.
Mr Pollett was a great teacher. Looking at it from an education standpoint, he was there to help the students. The writings were extremely flexible and you can write whatever you want pertaining to the reading. There is a 10-page research paper on whatever you want to research. mine was "A Comparison Between Assassin's Creed and Reality."
Prof Pollett is the greatest professor at WSU. He is incredibly knowledgeable and encourages students to step out of their comfort zones and realize all the world has to offer. Little readings and responses throughout the semester. Show and tell every Thursday. 10 page paper at the end of the semester. BEST PROFESSOR EVER.
Professor Pollett will take the time to learn your name--even if you only show up a few times to class. If he finds something to help guide you into a topic he thinks you will enjoy, he will share it with you. This requires a lot of writing, but he reads every bit of it and provides excellent feedback. So here's to you Pollett! A+ professing. BL
Professor Pollett takes the time to know his students and has a very quirky personality. Probably one of the best English teachers I've had. Forced me to think out of the box and be creative. Get ready to write... A lot. Keep ALL of your work for the portfolio due at the end. Put in the work, and you'll be fine. Loved this class & would recommend.
If you want to learn to become a better writer take this class! It's FUN, engaging and I'm a much more confident and literate writer because of Pollett. His class is tough but worth it and I'm so glad I took it. He grades based on participation, homework and attendance, simple as that. Papers are graded based on personal improvement.
Professor Pollett, or should I say Willy, is amazing. If you love the tradition English class where you read a book, write about it, and start over with another book... do not take this class. Professor Pollett taught us how to use our writing brains in different ways than I had ever been taught before. If you want a memorable class, here it is.
Get ready to write, but don't worry it's not awful. He doesn't have set amount of pages you have to have for any paper. It's just what you can do. He is inspirational and there for you. You can resubmit as many papers as you want for regrading. He's there for you and comments amazing things. Only teacher I would take another English class for.
Took a hard subject for me and made it more relaxed and able to succeed!
We say: what is going on? wait what was the assignment? He says: This is your class, make it your own We say: How many pages is this supposed to be? He: Gives you a blank stare We say: why are we doing the hokey pokey? He says: Your brains are working We say: What was the point of this exercise? He: Gives you a blank stare... The End
Laughs at his own jokes but most of them are funny. It's all on you, you have to work hard in this class but if you show up to class and come on time it is all very straight forward and worthwhile, but you have to put in the work to massive amounts of work but worth it and prepares you for the next steps forward. Inspirational. Tough but worth it!
Professor Pollett is THE best! He genuinely cares about his students so much he truly changed my life. His assignments really mean something, & he wants to see effort put in & improvement. You will work in this class, but you become a much better student after this course. His research paper made me explore my interest into my future career.
Professor Pollett was an excellent teacher. Super funny and entertaining. You will do a lot of writing but it is only to help you become a better writer. He is lenient with deadlines, and laid back. You will have a final research paper around 10 pgs but it's up to you really. This was one of my favorite classes. I would definitely recommend.
Almost a paper due every class. His research project is the main focus, so prepare for that. Great professor! He never gives word counts or page counts for his papers.
The dude is a little strange but it is refreshing from the other bimbo professors at this university. He is super happy all the time and wants you to do your best in and out of the class. Awesome guy!
Prof. Pollet is AMAZING! He is so passionate about teaching and loves what he does. He gives great feedback on your papers! Easy class, kind of lots of work but do it and you'll pass. I would totally take from him again!!
Prof Pollett (Little Bird) is the best teacher I have had at Weber State. He is passionate and cares about helping you in more than just English. Can't say enough good things about him. Would recommend this class to anyone.
Excellent teacher.
Don't let your first impression be your last! I was very unsure my first day of class, but was very happy with Professor Pollett by the end of the semester and couldn't have asked for a better English teacher. The class was fun and engaging. Put in the work and ask questions and you're sure to get the grade you want.
One of the best professors I've ever had. I would take any course from this guy.
Absolutely incredible. Easily the best professor I've ever had. My favorite part is he doesn't give any length requirements for your papers. No fluff!
Very positive! I recommend professor Pollett to anyone. You easily get out of your comfort zone. He gives everyone an opportunity to make a comment or contribute. Very fun class.
Professor Pollett really encouraged me to go out of my comfort zone. There is a research project at the end of the semester, but other than that the work load is really nice. He is very understanding and refreshing. He doesn't give page requirements on papers, I would recommend taking an English class from him.
I enjoyed the class. He gives great feedback, and responds to emails quickly. Lots of reading upfront, along with writing. Start looking at research topics when class starts. He truly cares about his students, and gets to know you on a personal level. I would definitely take from him again.
Prof. Pollett is incredible. His passion is contagious. The environment is his class is very open and welcoming. He gives incredible feedback. Always willing to answer any questions. Very accommodating to individual needs. Assignments are flexible and if you attend class, they're SO EASY. He rekindled my love for writing. SO GLAD I TOOK HIS CLASS!
Professor Pollett is a holistic teacher. He is very encouraging and engaging. When discussing topics that are hard to grasp, he makes sure we all understand it. I have never seen him be rude to or dismissive of a student. He genuinely wants us all to succeed, and genuinely wants us to have fun. 10/10 would take from him again.
Pollett is hands down the best professor I've ever had. This songwriting course is INCREDIBLE and I have learned so much about my own ability and creativity. He believes in letting his students run his class and its completely personal to each group of students he has. A couple papers and a final songwriter bio report. Show up, you won't regret it
Pollett is one of the best professors at Weber State. Expect a lot of writing, reading, and critical thinking. The class is challenging but it is worth it.
Professor Pollett is hilarious! Participation is a part of your grade in his class so be prepared to talk. He is very understanding and is open to all viewpoints. There is one final paper and its however long you want it to be and you also present in front of the class. He is a very chill professor so take this class from him!
He was a really good professor, but it was really hard to know what he wanted. He doesn't use canvas and the expectations for the course are very vague. However, he is super willing to work with students and very flexible on things.
Professor Pollet has an incredible spirit and every class is worthwhile. He is real and genuine and that experience is more important than knowing what he wants or how he uses canvas.
Wonderful professor!! Helps you view the world from a different perspective!
Rare to find a professor who so deeply cares about not only the subject matter but also each of his students. Definitely not an easy A, but he will work with you. HIs goal isn't for you to meet a certain set of requirements but for you to grow and learn about yourself. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Best english teacher I have ever had throughout my school career. I've never met a teacher so passionate about what he teaches, it makes you want to learn. The work load can be stressful, he just wants to see that you're willing to make an effort, and he will be willing to help you. He made me excited to come to class everyday!!
I truly enjoyed his class! I did not want to miss it, lots of reading and writing but this is an English class of course. Pollet is truly unique and awesome I would highly recommend him as a professor!
Possibly the most intelligent and unique teacher I have ever encountered. He gives individual feedback to everyone in his class. He politely challenges your viewpoints and inspires you to work and learn. He gives meaningful lectures and encourages discussion in his class. Always finds a way to fill in the awkward silence and always walks smiling!
Best class. Way fun professor!
He is a really good teacher but he piles a lot of work on you really fast so if you are a procrastinator you will not do to good. He gives work out really fast and quick so if you don't stay caught up it will be a long semester but if you stay caught up some work is difficult but you should be fine.
Mr. Pollett is an amazing teacher! He genuinely cares about each student he has and is more than willing to work with you to help you succeed in the class. He makes his classes fun. You should expect to do work but I didn't feel it was an extreme amount. Do the readings and the work and you will have no problem passing!
Will Pollett was absolutely an amazing professor! He genuinely cares about his students - he knew all of our names by the first week or two in class. He gives great feedback on the writings and papers, fun class discussions, great environment, definitely a place for creative growth. Highly highly recommend this professor!!!
By far one of the funnest professors to take for a gen ed class
Do not take.
This guy is bubbly, spunky and energetic. His classes are a lot of fun. He doesn't have word length or page requirements for his assignments in creative writing.
Professor Pollett was a very outgoing professor! First day of class and everyone after that he comes into class with enough energy for everyone. His energy makes participation easy and comfortable. He gives great feedback if you are willing to change and understand that perspective is everything. I would definitely recommend and take him again.
I took creative writing and he made the class absolutely amazing. Everyday was something new, fun, and engaging. I learned a lot, wrote a lot, and definitely improved my writing skills. I am so glad I took his class. He's a fantastic professor, though don't expect quiet, subdued classes. He's a party in a can.
William is my favorite and AMAZING! I took Songwriting this semester and it was the most fun I have had out of any of my classes. You don't have to be a musician for this class, although it is a lot easier and more fun if you are. He does have a few assignments, but nothing too crazy. Take him for any class he offers, you won't regret it.
Very caring and motivational. Doesn't use Canvas, so you better have a printer or be willing to use the campus one. It's a little annoying that you don't know your grade until the very end. He had us write him a letter saying what grade we thought we earned, and that's the one I got.
If youre a student at Weber State and are interested in a Creative Writing course you absolutely MUST take it from Pollett! He truly and deeply cares about his area of study and the students in his classroom. I cant put into words what this class did for me. I had previously not been a very engaged student but this class inspired me beyond words!
He is by far the best teacher I've ever had. He makes every student feel respected and heard, and makes sure everyone understands before moving on. We had to cut the class short because of COVID-19, but I'm taking another class by him the next time that that's possible, even if I don't need the credit. I highly, HIGHLY recommend taking this class!!
Professor Pollett is one of the best professors at Weber State. I have never enjoyed a class as much as I have enjoyed his. He is really cares about every one of his students. He is always willing to give feedback. He doesn't use canvas so you'll need to print everything off. He has you argue your grade at the end of the semester, so it's an easy a
Professor Pollett is extremely kind and very funny. I took creative writing Fall 2019 and it's a class I would like to take over and over. The class is easy in the most enjoyable way. It challenged me creatively and I also feel like this class is what you make it and you can choose if you take anything away from it. 12/10 recommend taking it.
He's one of the best professors I've ever had! He genuinely cares about his students and loves all of our ideas! This creative writing class pushes you out of your comfort zone and he believes in you! He has to be my #1 fan! This class is so fun and you get a good grade for just putting in your best effort. There are free-range guidelines. Amazing!
Professor Pollett is the best professor I've ever had at Weber State. I always knew that I could ask any questions or come to him with any concerns I had. He was supportive of me trying new things but gave me guidance and advice to help me along. His 2250 Creative Writing class was amazing! Awesome atmosphere and he is so hilarious. 100/10!
Very understanding and fun to chat with. Really has your best interests in mind.
Great teacher and very understanding. He teaches in a great way and makes the learning environment comfortable.
Professor Pollett is an amazing professor! He is really helpful and will do everything to help you get an A. He makes creative writing a lot of fun, and really knows how to connect to his students.
He 's an amazing professor that really makes you think outside the box. He strives for his students to expand their vocabulary and all around knowledge. As long as you're putting in the effort, he is understanding and will do his best to help you pass the course with any information/resources you may need.
He is extremely passionate about his subject he teaches. He is interactive & very responsive.
I recommend everyone to take his class. He is fun and answers all the questions the students might have. He makes sure every student understands each of his lectures and clearly explains the concept before giving the assignment. He also gives good feedback and allows the student to peer review which is really helpful to improve our writing.
He is one of the best teachers I have had at Weber. He is so knowledgeable. For him, every student is great. English is my second language, however, he never made me feel uncomfortable in class. He didn't see me how I am now; he saw me with eyes of who I can become. He answers messages fast. For all that he does, I am grateful.
Participation matters!! You have to show up or you will fail!
Very funny and nice. He did have everyone personally talk in front of the class almost every class which I wasn't a fan of but otherwise a great teacher.
You can feel that William Pollett wants his students to succeed, and always chooses to see the very best in them as he embraces and celebrates originality and diversity in their individual writing styles. The assigned readings and textbook are interesting to read, and really help generate your own ideas in creative writing. I enjoyed this class.
Mr. Pollett is one of the most genuine, talented, and overall incredible professors I have ever had here at what feels like years and years at Weber! The world needs more people like him and I so badly wish I had more time to connect with him He made me feel heard and validated. He also helped me gain the confidence I didn't think I had. 10/10 guy!
This was the best class I have ever taken and a blessing for my mental health. It was a hybrid course but the creative energy and human connection was tangible through the screen. I suggest this class to anyone I can, It's a breath of fresh air and a great pickmeup. A free and nonjudgmental creative experience regardless of major, I'll be back!
William is exactly the type of creative writing professor I wanted to have in college. He is very down to earth, gave fantastic feedback for my stories, and continually encouraged me. This was a Zoom class, but he made it very entertaining. He does show and tell, which is what some of us need during stressful times! Loved this class so much.
Dr. Pollett is a fantastic professor. His creative writing class was quite strange to me initially since I never knew much about this field. However, it was a blast! If you are given the choice to take this course (or if you just want an interesting class), take it! He is clearly passionate about the material and caring for all.
Loved this guy so much and am forever grateful for the wisdom and knowledge he imparts on us students. Sometimes I was feeling bad before class but then afterward I felt so much better just because of the environment and fun attitude he fostered, even over a zoom class which is just incredible that someone could do that so well.
I was a bit afraid of this class because it was via Zoom, but he made it so much fun and super easy! He is very funny and charismatic and is always open to listen to his students. Grading is very laid back and he allows his students to explore with their work.
He was really lovely, and happy to work with students on deadlines too. I appreciated the loose directions because that meant that I could be as creative as I wanted and get full credit for the work I did. Assignments aren't too demanding but there was always plenty to read every week!
This was one of the best classes I've ever taken. This professor leads very engaging discussions and promotes strong creativity. There were quite a few assignments, but they were all manageable, and he was never a harsh grader. You always know he reads your work because he leaves feedback. I definitely recommend taking his courses.
I wish I knew sooner that this class focuses on short stories instead of long papers (which I loved). This has been the best english class I've ever had. William is so genuine and creates an amazing environment for creativity. He is very casual as well which makes interactions and class with him way more enjoyable. 10/10!
It was my first semester in college and Professor Pollett was the most influential and helpful teachers I had. Whenever I had a question, I was never afraid to ask because he genuinely cared about me and my classmates success. There is a lot of constructive and deep discussion in class, but beneficial to personal writing skills.
Literally one of the best professors I've ever had. Prof Pollett is inspirational, funky, weird, and brilliant. I left every class feeling happier and more educated. Everything he does is to help students believe in themselves, and learn. He doesn't give dumb assignments, all of it is worth it. Lots of writing, lots of creativity, but so, so good.
Mr. Pollett is truly the best professor I have ever had. Lil Bird truly cares about your learning experience and is very welcoming and understanding. He puts emphasis on how the material applies to each individual student and is not afraid to give constructive and in-depth feedback. I learned so much about my path in life through his class!
Fantastic class! I feel like the instructor provides ample time to complete the work. Plenty of essays, but all with great material. I like that the instructor is passionate about his students developing self-expression/critical-thinking skills. Super great environment. Overall would recommend this professor, even more so if you don't like English.
William "Lil' Bird" Pollett is really engaging and a great teacher. His biggest encouragement for you to learn and to grow as a writer will simply be to read, and as a close second to write. I like the way he teaches and the assignments are great. Note: Do not take classes from him if you have a 4.0 GPA, he will never give 100% on an assignment.
Dr. Pollett was so inviting and hilarious since the first day! He values how we as students feel about ourselves, our writing, and our peers. Dr. Pollett is amazing at giving feedback. I look forward to his funny compliments & helpful suggestions every time. Everyone in the class knew one another, because he fostered that supportive environment.
Professor Pollett is a delight - his humor and genuine care for students foster an incredible learning environment, even online. Assignments are creative and manageable. Unstuck study was a game-changer for prep.
I loved Will and he is an amazing professor. His classes were always something to look forward to and I wish I could have invested more time into the class. Will allowed us to grade ourselves in which I was harsh with my own grading, but Will was able to see and show me what I didn't see in my writing.
I absolutely loved his wisdom and allowed us to be free with our writing. There are readings before every class that we discuss and get deep into. Also word days that are fun and expressive. I learned so much from this class, He helped me feel more confident in my writing! I always laugh at his jokes too :)
I absolutely LOVED this class and prof. Pollett! Each day in class there is a discussion about the readings from the textbook, which is super easy. Attendance will affect your grade, but there are no tests in the testing center. Overall, he is a very understanding professor and deeply cares about every one of his students. Would take again!
Lil' Bird is an amazing professor. He is very passionate about writing and literature. He makes an effort to really connect with his students and help them feel confident in their ideas and essays. He provides great feedback and encourages resubmits which can get you a better grade. I learned a lot from him and would take this course again.
Everyone in my class just called him Lil' Bird. He is a very fun and energetic teacher. The required text wasn't really a textbook, just a book about writing flash fiction that I was able to get off of Ebay for $7. He always had very interesting inputs, and his assignments were fun and challenging.
Lil Bird was a pleasure to have as a professor, and the energy he has is amazing.
this is my third time attempting english 2010, i couldn't have asked for a better teacher. he's passionate about the subject and it reflects onto his students. assignments have loose rules, leaves a lot of the control up to you. some long readings/discussions all are relevant and interesting if you don't like english lil bird will change your mind!
10/10 wish every English course I have taken or will take was ran by Prof. Pollett. Best college instructor I've ever had.
Participation is huge, your education in this class is dependent on your willingness to learn and engage with others.
Amazing professor! It is expected to read the assigned readings and bring your thoughts and analysis of the readings to class for discussions. He is hilarious and so incredibly quirky, I would absolutely take this class again.
Prof Pollett is an extremely likable, personable guy. He's also a terrible teacher. Papers are graded holistically so the grade just depends on his mood. His only feedback is “keep reading and writing!” I never received any constructive criticism on my papers, yet was getting 7 or 8 of ten. If you want to improve your writing, don't take his class.
I love this teacher! He seems crazy at first, but it makes everyone feel comfortable to open up & connect. He says what he expects, & he's very understanding. He encourages you to take control of your learning. He pushes you to read & find meaning in anything. He believes there's something in anything. He believed in me, so I believed in myself.
Inspires every student to read
Really funny, and accommodating.
Prof Pollett is by far the best professor I've had here. He is an amazing instructor and teaches about the real world, not the weird literature rabbit hole some tend to lean towards. He made me care about my writing in a way I haven't felt in a long time. He cares a LOT and goes out of his way to care for his students. 10/10 would take again.
This class is a student-led lecture instead of the other way around, which makes class more personal and engaged. He's extremely entertaining and understanding, it was easy to reach out to him after class for additional help! I didn't think there was a lot of homework, simply because I was inspired to write more!
Great instructor with a clear passion for writing and reading. There's a decent bit of reading in this class but it's nothing too bad, class is a fun & cooperative setting that encourages discussion & peer review. He's very energetic, but also extremely helpful & insightful when you ask for his help.
