Professor Price really cares about your progress in his class. He lectures very enthusiastically. The only problem is his grading (every A counts 4pts, B 3pts, C 2pts etc.) regardless of if its a low or high A. He does however take into account the work you put forth in his class (tardies, absences, etc) and may round up
This guy cares more about your english essay writing skills than he does what you actually learned. I am very interested in History and learned so much from this class, his tests are IMPOSSIBLE. Plan on reading your entire book, both of them. And plan on doing two letter grades below your goal. Now matter how hard you work.
He's the worst professor I've had...He doesn't use any visuals for his lectures and repeats himself over and over. The tests are all essay and impossible. Good luck passing this class...
Don't take this professor if you are looking for an easy grade. Take him if you actually like history. He is a very tough grader! All the test are essay only and you have to write 2 book reviews. He is willing to help his students who show that they care. He is a reasonable guy. I learned a ton in his class but had to work extra hard for only a B.
This professor is horrible! DO NOT TAKE HIM. He constantly repeats himself and doesnt use any type of visual with his lectures. His tests are IMPOSSIBLE to do well on. I am a major history buff and if all history classes were like his, I would change my major!!!
HIST 2112= Terrible professor, worst I've ever had. Several of us dropped after seeing the first test. Only grades are 3 book reviews and 2 tests. No visual aide with lectures, pointless stories of his life, NO DATES ON SYLLABUS- he decides due dates as he goes along, never know what to read when.
The professor is very hard, but the class is not impossible. The professor tries to make class entertaining by telling stories and getting a rise out of students. If you do not have good eyesight, no worries, he uses absolutely no visuals. Also, expect to show up 5-10 min before class because that is when he starts lecturing.
This professor sucks!! His test are extremely hard...no powerpoints or visual aids...no study guides..NOTHING!He lectures and you take notes. His test are 3 essays and you choose two and then there are several Id's..If you are looking for an easy A DO NOT take this class/professor!!!
worst teacher I've ever had. gave 3 book reports (are we in college or elementary school). for the reports he gave a layout of exactly how he wanted them only thing was when you fallowed his rubric he failed your paper. spent most of his time talking about his history not Americas, which i was under the impression that's what the class was about.
Please I urge you. Don't take his class. He constantly degrades his students. He can not keep a lecture from going in random circles. Wish i would have known.
Take this class only if you are an expert at American History and want only two tests to decide your grade. His lectures are boring, there is way too much information and he is not clear on what to study. There are no definite test dates and he can and is rude to most students. I would say do not take him unless you have not choice! seriously.
Excellent professor. Very informative lectures, but they tend to run in circles. Very opinionated, but open to disagreement. Grade based on two relatively tough essay tests. Do the readings, pay attention during lectures, and be able to connect concepts if you want to get a good grade.
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. No test dates are given, only two test that are made up of two essays and identifications, it's not clear what you should study and once you get the test back, you can't read his comments. He's also kind of mean and get's irritated by relevant questions. Made a girl cry for being 10 minutes late on the first day of class.
Price was very knowledgeable and expected his classes to think and act as historians.
I liked his lectures. However, he is very opinionated but isn't overly annoying with it and for tests he isn't clear AT ALL.
A pure lecture class, but definitely informative. The test are essay plus ten vocabulary. The essays are easy if you attend class and write the essay how he explained the topIc. You'll learn a lot if you just listen, but don't take this class if you are a hands on learner.
This teacher was clear and consciece but his tests were hard and it was not easy to study for. He grades very harshly and it is very hard to pay attention. during add drop more then half the class left due to how hard it was.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. I am a good student and I do pay attention in class, yet I still did a horrible job in the class. He is not clear on what specifically will be the IDs on the test and it is basically a shot in the dark to study the correct ones. If you asked when something was or what it was all he will say is 'check the syllabus'. AVOID HIM
He gives three essay tests with the highest two of the three being your grade, that's it. There are three topics per test and you choose two to write on so you are bound to know something. There are also 11 IDs on each test and you have to say what 10 of them are. People who complain about him just don't read the text or attend class.
Don't take this class if you expect everything to be handed to you. This professor expects you to be able to critically think, and his tests are mostly essay-based. If you go to class and pay attention, do the readings, and form actual, fact-based opinions, you'll be fine. If you do well on the first 2 tests, you can skip the final.
Great Professor. Professor Price is what one would expect a college class to be like. It is not a monotonous high school history class that you need to memorize dates. Price's tests are only difficult if you do not come to class, take good notes, or do not study. I do not like history, but learned quite a bit in his class. not for visual learners
Fantastic class if you're willing to do the work. Tests have 2 essays and 10 "IDs." Read the book, take good notes and you'll be fine. I failed the first test miserably but came back and made an A in the class. It's only as hard as you make it.
Excellent teacher. Take notes, read the textbook and you will ace the test. You are basically regurgitating what he has lectured in the class. Only hard part was studying for the ID's, which could be any significant person, place, or event.
Price only focuses on the Great Depression, WWI & WWII. He doesn't prepare you for the IDs but the two of the three (or four) essays. You're probably going to either go crazy trying to study for the IDs, fail, or drop it! Just don't waste your time on this class unless your JUST taking this one.
I did horrible in this class. I am a visual learner so listening to him during his lectures was very difficult. Textbook use is a must if you want to do good on tests. There is not online Georgia View Vista page for this class which didn't help. Advice if you are going to take him: Buy book, come to class, take notes, listen to lectures. Good Luck
I advise you to attend his lectures but they aren't mandatory as he tends to go off on non-related tangents and never fully covers material. A LOT of reading is necessary for this class to be successful. I failed the first test and a got a B on the second. The essays aren't that bad, it's the ID's that hurt you. No study guidance at all.
He is a great teacher in my opinion. Very nice guy and willing to help you. That being said, his tests are super hard. Really hard class. Would not recommend him
You really need to go to every class to do well. It is a true college lecture class. Price is a really nice guy and he wants you to do well. He may scare you on the first day, but he is just preparing you for the test. The essay choices are not that difficult to answer, but you need to make sure that you give enough info to make your point clear.
Awful teacher. The outline he gives is useless, he is so boring in class, and the tests are impossible. I spent a month in advance studying and going to class and still failed. DO NOT TAKE!
Boring class, no doubt about it. I got an A - two tests and a final. Attendance helps. Test - 10 I.D.s and two essays. Research syllabus test outline on Wikipedia and write down all people and proper nouns he says in class. I got an 84 and 100 on the two tests. Never bought the book.
He is a fair grader. Lectures are boring as all get out but you need to go. 3 tests he takes the best 2. 2 essay questions and 10 IDs not horrible.
Very boring class. Found it hard to stay awake and paying attention. He rambles and talks about useless stuff that is off topic. Only has three grades, all being tests. If you aren't prepared you will fail miserably.
Awful, Awful, AWFUL. This class was so hard to follow. I felt like his lectures never even helped you out on the test. I already hate history but this class was worse than ever. Most of the time I struggled to stay away and I would still study for hours and fail the tests. It's a wonder I even passed the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
I liked him. He has interesting comments. I'm used to getting A's so I was a little annoyed with the difficulty of his class. He wants you to THINK about the material and there will be NO Multiple Choice answers in his exams. You will have to study hard and attend every class. Take super elaborate notes; he can and will ask anything.
No doubt about it he is incredibly boring...that being said his class isn't incredibly hard at all..just go to class and take good notes instead of screwing around online and you'll be fine..two essays per test and ten ID's
His grading is all over. He genuinely loves the subject but he is a HORRIBLE professor! It's 3 essay tests. You don't know the topics from the notes. And there is an ID section. This is the one section you really to focus on during tests. Write down everything he says in class.
All the questions on the test are from the book chapters, which he gives in the syllabus. Very easy to do well by just reading the chapters. While yes, he can be boring, he is very smart, friendly, and helpful. The whole course is made up of 3 tests. The first 2 are super easy if you read, but I recommend attending class leading up to the final.
DO NOT TAKE! He knows what he is talking about but goes off on side stories and jumps around on the time periods he is talking about. Has power points but forgets to go to the next slide most of the time, and when he does he is normally already off that topic.
Look, the guy knows his history but please do your self a favor and skip this guy. He is a horrible professor and the essays will literally be anything. The lectures are long and drawn out and he goes on tangents. You are better off waiting if this is your only choice a teacher.
You have to take detailed notes, if you don't know someone who has taken this class then I would not recommend this class. He's interesting but hard to follow.
If you MUST take him, get the book. Don't go to class. He will talk you to sleep and it is a waste of time. Do yourself a favor and every class period you have, instead just take notes and make notecards. Use the syllabus readings and focus questions to study. 3 essay choices every exam, you write two. 11 words to define. Choose ten. Goodluck.
The grading is very unforgiving, as is the teacher. Only 3 tests make up the entire grade. No study guides given. There is no extra credit or other assignments to help boost your grade. Most students dropped the class after the first exam Also Price put several students to sleep in his class. Knows his stuff but don't take if you want a good grade
Cutest old man you've ever seen, but if you can't pay attention in class don't take him. Completely lecture style. Attendance not mandatory but you're gonna wanna to come and take diligent notes to pass the class.
Picture the most boring moment in your life, then multiply that by infinite and have that will be two of your classes a week.
The hardest class I've ever had. His lectures put me to sleep. Your grade depends on just three tests, so BE PREPARED TO READ. The book will be your best friend in this, although you will still probably make a bad grade since most of the identification questions aren't even from the book. If you're a sadist, go for it, otherwise do not take!!
Only grades are tests. Identifications and essay questions are the sections he'd put on the test. He gives the first test after adddrop period. Takes 2-3 class periods to get through a 6 slide ppt. Very long winded. No study guide, although, he does keep some section questions in the syllabus. Book use only for studying.
Every class is just him rambling on about completely irrelevant material. He is old and pretty unappealing. Only two grades all semester: the midterm and the final. He goes by the book so just get ready to read. Wouldn't suggest this class if you have a hard time focusing. He takes attendance every day also.
Unless you want to teach yourself for a whole semester, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. There are only three test so be prepared to study like crazy. THE BOOK IS YOUR FRIEND and will help you. He is very opinionated and grades based on his opinion. On some days I just didn't show up to class and read the book. Unless your desperate DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Do not take him. His class is all lecture and nothing else. He's extremely boring and his tests are impossible. Three tests make up your entire grade in the class. You are given 3 essays and you have to choose 2 and 11 identities where you choose 10. You must use examples in your essays but if you use one he is not looking for, he counts off.
He knows his stuff, but unfortunately doesn't understand how to lecture. This is the most dry course I have ever taken and he literally, stands at his podium, and talks in the most monotone voice possible. Its impossible to take notes on his lecture because he goes off topic often. Just read the book to pass three tests as they are your only grades
honestly this was the most boring class, no one hardly ever showed up. He doesn't like college students. he talks long, slow, and drags on.. Dont do it. Take another professor.
Does not stay on topic. Test's are very vague, not in a good way.
This class was awful. His lectures are long, boring and very hard to keep focused on. You only get graded on a couple papers and he doesn't really give you direction or expectations. History has always come easy to me, straight A's, blew that with this class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
As a business major and a "mathscience" student, this class was irrelevant to my majorinterest. This professor is very knowledgeable about the subject but is terrible at conveying the material to students. Very difficult to sit through an entire lecture. You will constantly look at the clock. Worst professor I've had thus far.
WORST. PROFESSOR. EVER. There is much reading and his lectures are VERY boring. You will literally stare at the clock the entire time he is lecturing. PLEASE, do yourself a favor a do not take him!!
This was the worse class I have ever taken. He is incredibly monotoned the entire time and literally lectures from beginning to end. He holds reviews for the tests but they are no help. He says that students are supposed to teach students and just sits at his desk during the reviews. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
This class is super boring and he never stays on topic. Attendance is not mandatory but he still takes role everyday. He has three tests, including final, all worth same points. He gives you three essay questions and you pick two. he then gives you 11 definitions and you pick ten. His tests are the only grades you receive in this class.
I was horrified when I saw all of the reviews on here about this professor, but after taking him, I'm sad the class is over. He doesn't take attendance, but I recommend coming every day because he covers all test material in lectures. He always cracks jokes during lectures, and the tests are not very hard at all if you simply study the night before
He is the funniest man I have ever met in my life. I did not participate but the only way to get an A in his class is to be wikipedia.
LOVED IT! Very knowledgeable and passionate. Shares interesting and unusual facts. Yes, there is a LOT of reading but if you go to class and take notes, you'll do great! Classes are long but it kept my attention the entire time. I'm a nursing major but never enjoyed History as much as I do now because of him. He will also gives you great advice
I had Dr. Price my 2nd semester as a freshman. Come to class and take notes - even little things he mentions. Tests were all essay-based, so you need to know what you were talking about. Nothing was surprising and the prompts are centered around things he discusses. Likes to provoke discussion. He is a really nice old man who does care.
Challenging, but interesting. Sometimes entertaining, sometimes drones on. He gets side tracked often. It can turn entertaining. Lectures are LONG. They can be boring, but informative. GO TO CLASS or you will NOT pass. Work, study the questions he gives you. Read the beginning and end of chapters as he tells you. That is key to studying. Nice guy.
He is a hard teacher because he wants the students to actually learn the material. History is one of the most important courses to take no matter what your major is, and Price gets that. Read the chapters, go to class, and actively strive to understand the points being made and you will do great. Important events and people are spotlights on test.
He talks slowly. He will start off on one topic and go off on a tangent about this era's problems and then go to a different topic entirely before ever returning to the one he was on. His syllabus reads like a dictator. You're better off reading the book and assigned reading materials. a slide of topics and his confusing lectue is all you get here
It is a very difficult course in my opinion, as well as his grading criteria. No homework or quiz grades that are given. Only three exam throughout the course to indicate your final grade. With that being said, be prepared to read the textbooks and make notes along the way. Class lectures and the class power points are little help in my opinion.
Dr. Price is amazing. He is so passionate about history and is very intelligent. There are only three tests but if you pay attention he pretty much covers the needed information. READ READ READ the chapters. The book of readings isn't necessary but the textbook is. He likes to tell stories and wants you to be in a study group.
Great guy, better heart. Very easy to focus on. Lenient when it comes to tests. Take this man
BORING!! He is a nice old man and he really loves to talk. He makes me want to sleep. His tests are straight up essays and he teaches for two month and we only have one essay question. How are we supposed to figure out what sentence of two months of lectures he is going to ask over. Do not take him unless you just love history like some students.
Price is such a kind heart & he means well. He only has 3 tests and that is your grade. You do not have to show up for every class unless you want attendance. Nothing from his lectures really helped me on the tests. He tells you exactly whats going to be on the test 1 week before and thats all you need to focus on. Easy A if you read what you need
There are only 3 tests the entire semester, no homework, projects, or extra credit. He lectures every day and 2 months of material are on each of tests which are all essay questions. I stopped going to class because he gets off topic and rants on current issues. Your best bet to passing the class is just reading the textbook on your own.
Old man who is a history expert. 3 test make up your grade and they are 3 essay questions pick 2 and define 10 terms. The lectures are long with occasional jokes. Get a study group and READ the textbook and I got an A. Use the terms in your essays and know key people and events.
There are only 3 grades - all written exams. They're not hard if you study and know how to bs an essay but you won't be learning much from this class, just memorizing. Lectures are boring. He's hard of hearing so although he wants class participation, he most likely will not answer your question correctly.
This class is graded by only 3 exams. Furthermore his lectures in class does not help on the exams, I even read the textbook like crazy and it still did not help. His exams are not clear on what he wants. He grades very tough and does not give good feedback. Avoid taking his class and if you do take him, withdraw if you fail the first exam.
I have a hate/ love relationship with this class. Professor Price is a great educator, it is just the process for grading. He gives 3 test. All of them are in essay form. This is nerve racking because you must know all the material, there is no guessing when it comes to essays. You need 2 books. I never picked up my book of documents.
Mr. Price is a good professor and is very knowledgeable about history but you really have to work for a good grade in this class. He gives very few notes and every class is a long lecture. There are 3 tests, all essay tests and those are your only grades. He takes attendance but it doesn't count for anything. Nice guy but a tough class
Professor Price is knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches and his lectures show that. Your grade will come from 3 tests which consist of: 2 short essays and 10 vocab words. Since the exams are rather small its important you know all of what was covered in class. Overall hes a great lecturer who gives hard tests. Studying is key to pass.
I loved Professor Price. He was very funny and didn't make people talk in class. He was very boring though and all he did was stand in front of us and talk every single day. There are only 3 things graded all semester and they are all tests. I made an A but I honestly don't know how.
If history is not your strong suit, I would definitely not recommend this professor. I came to every class and wrote down almost every word that came out of his mouth and barely passed. There are only 3 tests with two essay questions (you pick from 3 prompts) and ten "identifications" (which you pick out of 12).
Price's class is the worst class I've ever had to sit through. He lectures too much, only gives 3 grades for the semester (all are tests that are only 12 questions but cover about 300 pages from the book) and he often chastises his students and today's youth in class. Completely boring, sometimes pompous and rude, and far too difficult.
You get three major test grades and nothing else. Tests are opinion based but you still have to demonstrate that you know the material. He wants extensive, thorough answers. He's an old-timer and doesn't have any patience for belligerence or disrespect and he'll definitely let you know.
Mr Prince is an amazing teacher from all the views.
Mr Prince is an amazing teacher from all the views. He involves all of us in the class and makes lessons be more attractive.
Take Dr. Prices class if you wish to learn about history and apply a little bit of critical thinking of history compared to todays events. Do not take his class if you want to come and go as you please or otherwise be disrespectful. If you spend 30mins a day reading the textbook to keep up with the lecture, you will do fine. Cramming wont work.
He was awful. Never really taught any criteria.
I dont like him, not enough tests
Overall disrespectful to students, making him difficult to approach. He's also a really tough grader and looks for really specific things.
the most unapproachable professor at ksu. when he cancels class he dosent email you he just leaves a note on the door which sucks for people like me who commute everyday. He dosen't teach, he just rambles about stuff and gets off topic. He's also really disrespectful to students and tells us that were going to hell on a rocket ship.
Dr. Price was the worst teacher I've ever had. I am an A and B student and I couldn't pass his class. He is not clear about how he wants things, his tests are hard, and he gives no feedback on how to get better. He is rude, degrading, and bashes the younger generations. He also can't hear anything you say to him and just rambles on all of class.
worst professor i've ever had. all he does is ramble on about nothing for the entire class. It's impossible to take notes because he legitimately RAMBLES about unimportant things. He expects you to write exactly what he is thinking on his tests. There are 3 tests and that's it. He doesn't care that most people fail. Each test covers 4-7 chapters
All he does is lecture so all you have to do is listen and write down whatever he says. His powerpoints are not good at all so you have to listen. Tests are very easy if you memorize your content. He is monotone but its an easy A class.
i never thought a history class could be this hard. he expects you to memorize close to 100 people/key terms for every test, and the whole test is written, but only 11 of these terms are on the test (so just hope you remembered the right ones). plus 2-3 essay questions on the actual history part. ridiculous amount of studying (and crying. lol)
The critical reviews are from students who expect their professors to hand them their good grades. Dr. Price is my favorite teacher I have ever had. He is incredibly caring, and he knows and loves history like no one else. Being a history buff as well, I sat down and talked to him many times about History, and I loved our talks. Highly recommend.
He lectures the whole class. He only gives three or four tests and that's how he grades you. If you read and study the vocabulary, you will be fine. Funny, but old fashioned.
At first, I thought Mr Price was one of the hardest teachers ever, as I am an A student who had a D in his class. However, One day I sat down with him (before the last test) and he gave me many pointers on how to be better and how I should go about bringing my grade up to a B.
Dr. Price is a by the book, dont-call-me-by-my-first-name fella. He lectures all of class with only some vague points on a PowerPoint behind him. Three tests are averaged for your grade, no homework, NO extra credit. Just study the week before tests and youll get anywhere from an 85-100. An A you gotta work a little for, but its certainly doable
He is bland and does not seem interested in making the class motivating at all. syllabus is inaccurate ALL semester. He never wants to post students grades and he made us email him to get our grades but taking forever to email us back. Quizzes were online during class,on lockdown and he would yell at us for leaving class?!!!? Save yourself..
I would not recommend taking this professor. He doesn't try to make the class interesting at all, and expects you to read a whole bunch outside of class. He is very lecture heavy and doesn't provide any visual aids. The worst part is how the only grades in his class were just 3 tests and 4-5 quizzes so it was really stressful. Avoid at all costs!
