Boring lectures then you watch a movie. I seen most of the movies. I would take off right after the movie started. Stay for lecture, sign in, get handout, and make sure you see the movies before the midterm/final. There's also a paper (Easy) and an xtra credit paper. In hindsight I wish I had taken something else. This class was soo boring.

The quizzes are changed. There are no more online answers. Have to read the book to do it!

Foster makes you read the textbook HE wrote and watch lectures, but in my experience the lectures gave you nothing for the quiz and the only questions he asks on the test are movie trivia. You don't have to watch the films. He has practice quizzes, they don't count for much if you forget about them. Do well on the big test. Very uncommunicative

easy class. I took foster for both cinema 7a & 7b so it was the same thing but double the work. all the answers are in his book which costed like $100 each so read it. went to class at first but then stopped going and still passed. class was boring. 1 midterm, 1 final, 10 chapter quizzes, 1 essay. but since i took both his class i did those twice.

the most boring class ive ever been forced to take, coming from someone whos favorite subject is film/film history. forces you to buy his own expensive book that he wrote, the least tech-savy person I've ever met, I learned NOTHING from the long and extremely boring lectures. don't take this class, it'll ruin any interest you have for the subject:(

Easy class, you have to buy his textbook that is expensive! You have to do 10 quizs, 1 term paper, and 2 test, some answers can use google....,some answers in his book....

An Excel file with everyone's grade appearing at the top of the Canvas course page is a clear invasion of privacy! While the Excel file shows student IDs instead of student names, one could still guess another student's ID from the file. Instead of invading the privacy, the professor should "unmute" the quizzes and papers and manage the gradebook.

The class was very easy; you sit down, listen to an hour-long lecture about the movie, actors, film style, etc., and then watch it. You have to buy the textbook to do your quizzes; however, answers can be found online. There's a term paper that acts as the midterm and a final. Quizzes and Final are timed. There is an extra credit paper available.

Would take again

I took Professor Foster in Fall 2021 in person and I would take him again. Yes there was a textbook that you have to buy but the chapters weren't long and it was pretty interesting if you're into movies. All the movies were great and the quizzes on Canvas were open book so it would be hard to fail. Tech isn't his strong suit but he's open to help.
