Mr. Range is very helpful and accessible. I couldn't imagine taking any other instructor than him for this course. He truly cares about your progress and is passionate about his job! A challenging but fun and fair class.

It's sort of an easy class. Just do your assignments and stay on deadline. But he's really partial about his grading. If he doesn't like you it'll show in your grades. If your in the hole, you stay in the hole.

Very easy class. I only had to write three papers. Most of the other work was done in class. His class helped me improve on my grammar a lot.

I have Mr. Range and I love him. He is always really clear about everything and is always willing to help you out. The people that rate him bad must be incredibly dumb because if you go to class and do your work (which isnt hard) Mr range will help you out as much as he can. And he is sooo hott too!

Take this man for Comp 1! He has a good sense of humor and doesn't lose his cool, even if an entire class blows off an assignment. He keeps you on your toes all the time so pay attention and do the assignments. IF you put the effort forth then it is an easy "A"...I always thought he resembeled the host of jeaprody. (Just my .02)

Grammar geek! He taught me what I didn't know I didn't know about grammar. Really awesome teacher made class fun. If I missed a class, I was disappointed. Syllabus is kind of a guideline tho, not really rigid. Don't be late, he will not appreciate it!

Mr. Range is definately a morning person.. His class is pretty easy, Had to do a 8 page research paper on topic of your choice; turning in pieces of the project through out the course. He's VERY interested in the "process" you go through for the paper. There are some poetry journals due that were a little unclear, but overall- take his class!!

Pay attention to assignment deadlines, and expect to do a great deal of research. (Your main assignment is a research paper that will take most of the term to write.) Not an easy grade, but a fair one. If you work hard, you'll pass with flying colors. If you are expecting to slack off and not come to class, don't take him: he will fail you.

i enjoyed mr. Range teaching me. he was fun and kept the class some what fun( as fun as comp could be). i managed to get a good grade even though i expected a bad one, shows how easy he is.

i agree with all that is said i was afraid of a 8 pg report at first BUT he gives you 16 weeks to do it AND it is broken up into "parts" great class i recommend it to ALLLLLLL

He's just tooo cool. i was late in starting the class but it all worked out..He made it fun for me to be in the class and i havent fallen asleep once. Word to the wise:DO NOT BE LATE TO CLASS...ever

I took Mr. Range for Comp 1&2. He is the best teacher I've taken at SPC. Very helpful and uses a lot of classtime for you to get work done = less homework! He is very funny and down to earth and really cares about your success! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

He is a great professor. Funny, smart, helpful, and makes class interesting. He lets you leave after completing classwork (when there is any). There aren't too many writing assignments and you can always pick your own topic. REMEMBER your paper grade depends on YOUR GRAMMAR. If your paper is good, but with bad grammar you're getting a C-.

Mr. Range is awesome! Very sweet and uplifting. He treats his students with respect and is willing to read through stuff and help. I took him for both Comp I and II. You will seriously learn from this man and he doesn't even do tests (Quizes tend to be on reading material and he usually asks what you learned). He made this class enjoyable!

He was absolutely awesome. By far the best teacher I have ever had! If you love writing and want to better yourself, take his class. He makes class fun and exciting. There are a few more writing assignments in his class but its worth it.

Great Teacher!! He is extremely helpful. The class is perfectly planned out, so if you stay on schedule you will finish your research paper on time and have a couple weeks to relax at the end of the semester. Turn everything in on time, you will thank yourself later when all you points add up to an A in the class.

had him for comp 1. i wanted to take him for comp 2 and he rejected me! i found out from a girl in his honors class that he did the same thing to her.he keeps only students he likes and kicks out the ones he desn't. he really does single people out;some kids in the class felt he was showing favoritism toward others.he is biased.

The best teacher at SPC. I took him for Comp 1 and Comp 2, if you do the assigned work you will get an A. The students who do not like him are usually the ones who do not do any work and get pissed when he calls them out on it. You learn to be a better writer in his class and he is extremely funny. I will admit he is a very easy is teacher. I did not like his style. He only explains himself ONCE if you miss him the first time he will get really annoyed if you ask again. IT IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE IF HE LIKES YOU WILL GET THE EASY A+, BUT IF HE DOES THEN YOU ARE SCREWED. He is easy just big on grammar.

All you have to do is show that you're actually trying to succeed (i.e. show up for class, be on time (hard one for me), do your work, don't be a slouch) and you're good as gold. The favoritism comments are no doubt from lazy students. Yes, he does show favor to students who are respectful and do their work. Imagine that.

He is OK.I wish I would have taken him only for comp2.He was my only writing class I earned a C+ in!I went to Hooks for comp2 who was supposedly the hardest prof.and earned a B.I do not think range liked me even though I did all my work earned fair grades,was on time and usually the last to leave class,and did my best not to say much.TAKE FOR COMP2

TAKE THIS TEACHER. Rarely holds class. Fair grader with VERY fair requests compared to other teachers but still makes you feel like you learned something. I loved this class and have suggested him to many people.

Mr. Range is by far the coolest professor at SPC. He cares about his students and does everything he can to help you out. The first few weeks he lets class out early. After that he does lecture, but he makes it fun! Take him! He will be your best friend and help with everything.

Prf Range is one of the best prf at spc. I absolutely hate writing but he made the class interesting. For those ppl that failed his class they probably never came to class or did their work. As long as you attend class and do all your work you will get an A if I got an A and I hate writing then any1 can get an A. I def recommend him!! :)

Took him for comp 1+2. Easy A for both classes and very wonderful teacher. He has a special way of connecting with the students. Just dont be late or talk in his class. Overall wonderful easy intresting teacher

He is one of the easiest and best English teachers that I've ever had. I'm not the best writer but I finished with an A in comp 1 and comp 2 (both with Mr. Range). If you come to class and pay attention YOU WILL PASS. FYI keep up with everything and keep all of your work in a folder, he will give you points at the end of the semester for it.

Was not very good in English classes in high school. Coming to his class everything was very easy. Teaches the class well. When students talk too much though he will run his fingers on the chalkboard. I highly recommend this teacher.

Very friendly & funny person. So easy to talk to & even w/ the paper being 8 pages, he helps you so much. Even grades the rough draft as it's the final to help!

Mr. Range is the right teacher to have for comp if you're just beginning college. He makes the transition from whatever point you came from easy for anyone to handle. He genuinely cares and he's a very honest person as well, great attribute. His classwork is easy, all you have to do is show up and get the work done. :)

Had him for both Composition 1 & 2. He is easily the best English professor ever. Writing wasn't something I enjoyed compared to reading, but he made it easy and his style of teaching really helps. In Comp 2, it can be hard. There's the semester long research paper, but you get to choose your own topic. If you don't procrastinate, you'll ace it.

Amazing teacher; I learned a lot, and he is always helpful. We did do a lot of grammar work out of the book, but it really does help with your writing. I would definitely recommend.

By far one of the best professors you will ever have. He does more than just teach, he knows how to inspire us to be creative thinkers and writers. He encourages group projects and gives us the time and the freedom to solve our own problems as a team. His confidence in us drives us to excel.

I him for Comp I and was pleasantly surprised. He has grammar hw everyday for the first 12 of the semester. It's a completion grade, so it's not taxing at all just tedious. Don't hesitate to visit him during office hours if you're a poor writer. He understands and wants his students to succeed. Annoying at times but great instructor.

By far THE best professor I have ever had. I took him for comp 2 and not only is he super helpful, but also an easy grader. I literally passed this class with like a 98.. I am not a huge fan of writing, but he made it enjoyable. Take him!

A great teacher! Gives feedback on essays. He does assign a lot of grammar hw, which he grades as a group in class. You need to keep up with grammar and show up to class to pass. I think there was 5 essays total, and 4 short journal entries. Range allows you to turn in essays before due date, allowing you to revise with unlim. time for better grade

If you must take Comp 2, take Mr. Range! He's funny, relaxed and extremely helpful! He truly cares about the students and their writing ability. His goal is to have his students leave as confident writers and no longer need a teacher for doing so; he more than achieves this goal! TAKE HIM!!!

I took him for comp I and it was a super easy class, as long as you do what he assigns you'll pass, even if you do it wrong. However, I learned almost nothing in his class. Lot of grammar, not much on how to write. Take if you want an easy A, not if you actually want to learn.

Mr. Range is an outstanding comp teacher! It's a swift class with 4 essays, 4 journals (that are spread out through the semester) and grammar homework that is easy but somewhat time consuming. You can definitely learn to write better from him if you put in the time yourself. Also, just make sure to keep work in case something wasn't graded right.

Professor Range was great. I took him over this past spring (2016). He gives a bit of homework but he's not a hard grader on it. The only thing that he mainly gives focus on are the 4 different style papers that have to be written. He's not overly critical in the grading, but he is for these papers that he expects you to know how to correctly write

I took this class for Comp I and I'm just gonna be straight and say he was one of the best Comp teachers I have ever had. In the past most of my teachers weren't really caring about the student's grade but Mr. Range showed that he cared about how we did in his class. He is very open-minded when it comes to grading papers and not tough at all.

Mr. Range was the best English teacher I've ever had! He is really fun and easy. You will have pop quizzes so make sure you're up to par with reading in your syllabus. Awesome feedback and overall fun to be around. There is four in-class papers you will need to do, but it's easy. No exams just one 2000 word research paper. Take this guys! Awesome.

Professor Range is amazing. This entire course is one 8 page research paper. He gives you time in class to do research. He makes himself available to you every step of the way. And he will have you laughing all the time. I really enjoyed this comp 2 class.

pros: 4 main papers, 4 short papers. somewhat heavy on homework the first half of term but it is easy stuff. is caring and understanding. grades generously based on writing ability, not content. laid back.

Range is so inspirational and encouraging! Takes interest in each of his students. 6 pg. research paper and 4 short essays ( 3 were in class). Not much homework besides the research process which takes the entire semester. Just apply yourself and try hard and you will do well. He wants his students to succeed. An amazing man and teacher!

Easy A! He is very caring and honest. But his grading style is different he grades on a sheet and doesn't put his grades online but he gives you a numerator and denominator every time he updates the grades. He lets you turn in your essays early and he will give u a oppurtunity to edit it and turn a new one in. Overall I didn't really learn much.

Great professor! If you come to class and do what you're supposed to you'll definitely pass. If you did well in high school English you'll be fine with this. Also, turn your work in early, even if you feel like it still needs some work. He reviews it and lets you try again.

Range is a cool and caring guy. His teaching style is good because he cracks jokes and is easy going. There was alot of grammar homework and quite a few essays, but nothing really difficult. I put alot of effort in on my essays and did very well in this class. If he allowed it, I would've taken him for comp 2 as well.

Professor Range is a solid professor with a great personality. Realize that if you want to excel in this class, you need to show up, complete the assignments and participate. Professor range was my favorite during my freshman year. I started with a A ended with a A. No exams and a few pop up quizzes. Do all of your homework . ( easy assignments) and youll pass. He was always entertaining and cared about his students. Take this class!

Prof made class enjoyable, always had our attention. There is a textbook but I never used it He is always available, make sure if you have a question to talk to him, he is knowledgeable and will find any way to help. The only big assignment was a 6-page research paper but you can choose any topic and we work pretty much the whole semester on it.

ENC1101 was my first college course since graduating high school twenty years ago, and Professor Range made jumping back into education a breeze. You can tell from day one that he absolutely loves teaching and enjoys engaging with his students. He has a joyous personality and loves joking around during class. Show up, do the work, and have fun!

Professor Range was the best teacher I've taken at SPC! His class was a breeze even after taking AP comp in HS 4 years ago. He grades sorta tough but mainly he likes to irk you a little but but its very minuscule like a point or two off. We work on a research paper all semester and if you do it in a timely manner you can get two weeks off!!

Good professor overall. Tons of inside jokes, super relatable, just a nerdy guy. Lectures aren't boring, and he seems to know what he is talking about. Overall grade is heavily contingent on final essay, although what I hated is that the draft was half of the essay grade, felt like I deserved an A given that my final grade was 100% but it's ok.

Attendance is important in his class but assignments were very understanding. The class goes by quick so he does except homework done every class or every other.

Professor Range is an amazing English teacher. I took him for Comp II and the entire class is surrounded a research paper that you spend the semester on writing and perfecting. He provides wonderful feedback to help you do your best. He is also so caring and wants to be involved in your as a person not just as one of his students.

Professor Range is one of the best teachers I've ever had! His lectures are great, homework is easy and even if you get answers wrong, you get full credit for the homework as long as you do it. You grade is heavily based on 3 long essays and 3 shorter ones, so do those, get them in on time, and you're good to go!

He is a very nice professor. But the problem is that he doesn't allow us to use AI even if it's for good reason. I would like to take his class in the future but it will be a lot better if he'd allow us to use AI. The other professors with not so good ratings they need to do a lot better in order to have a good rating. His class simple for sure.

Professor William Range is personable, funny, and truly cares about what students have to say. He makes class comfortable and easy to follow, but you do need to pay attention and show up to do well. I'd definitely take another class with him if I wasn't moving away. Highly recommend!

He is the GOAT. I loved writing in his class, and I got to experiment with different styles and improve in writing. You will get an A if you try and show up. If you don't understand something, reach out to him he is very kind and understanding. There are three big essays, three smaller essays, and some grammar work in between. You got this!
