Incredible teacher! His delivery of presentation, knowledge, and fun-factor made him a great teacher and and he definitely gave to me his love for economics. Not an EASY class per se, but if you have the slightest bit of intuition, or at least are studious, its an A in the bag. Highly recommend engaging in the online extra credit. GREAT TEACHER!
GREAT teacher! Fun, straightforward, no-BS presentation of the information. Take this class if you are looking for a teacher with no stupid quirks or annoyances. Great teacher, wish they could all be like him
Amazing professor!! very helpful, humurous... Really helped me understand the theories and concepts of microeconomics. You can earn up to 40 points extra credit doing online discussions!!! 5 exams (2 take-home, 3 in-class)... Explains whats going to be expected of you on exams... Highly recommended professor, prob the only good one in the departmen
Amazing professor. Knows a lot about Econ because he has so much real world experience. Teaches only what you need to know for final. Extremely cool, nice, and helpful when you talk to him. Class had quite a bit of work to do but the material is pretty straightforward. Highly recommend him, lectures cover the material AND keep your interest.
lol great class would have done better if i actually showed up to class. he does take attendance at random and his policy is easy. do the extra credit it will help there is at least 40 pts of e.c. he is blackboard active and thats cool about him
I really liked this professor. He's so quirky that it makes the class enjoyable. This class is NOT easy by all means considering it has 5 exams/1 paper/and a HUGE final. I still very much HATE Econ but this prof makes it bareable :)
Great class, i had no real interest in the topic but prof made it fun and taught it in a way that was very thought provoking. If you go to class, there is no reason for why u shud not get an A. And he loves giving partial credit!
You'll only do good in the class if your already good in Econ! His tests are hard and his questions are worth way too many points! So, if you mess up on one question, your basically screwed Considering that this is only a 100 level class its HARD! I find his in-class tests the worst! There's no guarantee you'll do good even if you have studied hard
Great teacher!! Makes the class easy to go to. The material is hard but he explains it in a way that makes it easy. Go to class or you won't do very well on the tests and he takes random attendance. Overall a wonderful teacher!!
i dont care what anyone says, he is the best professor i ever had. all you have to is go to class, listen to the lecture, and study your notes. you can get an A without buying the book.
I enjoyed this class. He is easy going and helpful. He makes even a morning class enjoyable. His in-class tests are a little tricky, but he gives you two take home tests that can easily bump up your grade. He really doesn't ask too much from his students. Definitely take his course. I would definitely recommend him.
Great class/prof, I just couldn't understand the material no matter how hard I tried.
Mr. Bill is a awesome prof. Attendance is not mandatory but he randomly checks 15 times thru the year. So there are pts. Relates the class to present times/situations.Tests can be tough but there are two take home tests
Mr.Bill is the greatest professor I have had in a looooong time. He teaches so well that you understand almost everything throughout the semester. Microeconomics can be a tricy course, but having Mr. Bill as a prof. everything will be just fine. He is humorous and makes lectures enjoyable everytime. I love him so much that I wish he was my professo
Mr. Bill is a very enthusiastic teacher who presents the material in an interesting manner. In-class tests are tricky and very specific, but I hear that is common to Microeconomics. There are also take-home tests and a term paper which can boost your grade.
I wish all prof were like Mr. Bill because he's so awesome! He was extremely funny, which made going to lecture very enjoyable. A lot of the material on tests were directly from lectures - I didn't read the book very much, although I think it's good supplemental material. Take advantage of the 2 take home tests to help boost your grade.
His class is awesome!! Obviously, you have to put in hard work to get a good grade but he goes over about 80-95% of what will be on the tests in class. Attendance very important!! Tests are specific but he curves based on class performance. Funny professor..his class will make your day! Loved his personality and class.
Fantatsic professor, fantastic class. I'm a 4.0 student who took this as a gened, but I enjoyed it, was slightly challenged by it even, and actually felt like I learned a decent amount. he uses real world stories, since he was in the field long before teaching, and he explains clearly. Take him, or you'll never know what you missed.
Call him Mr. Bill, and he will be happy. He uses the real world stories to explain each term, which makes each material extremely clear. He is funny and gives out some cash to the volunteers.... Sound good?? Take his class, and u will like economics!!
My all time favorite teacher because of his wonderful skills to connect with his students and bring in very relevant examples to ease the materials weight. Did I mention he brought in the Midwest Chairman to the Federal Reserve Bank. Great professor.
One of the best teachers I have had at UIC. Tells you exactly what is going to be on the test and is ALWAYS avaliable for questions, I mean it, you can even call him!! Keeps students interested by using his own real-life examples. Also is really funny!
my favorite professor so far at UIC. He is a great teacher and makes the material easy to understand. Very funny guy and keeps the class entertaining with all his random stories.
Hard...TEsts are essay form and very hard..would not take him again..
Pretty hard class, all exams and homework are pretty much essay type. You will need to really understand the material. Very helpful and yes you can call him lol Very enthusiastic with teaching the class and is not boring. Amazing professor. Will take him again for other econ classes.
By far the best professor I have ever had at UIC. He makes learning fun, he is very fair, and he applies real life stories into his class. He dishes out $5 dollars every class to students who answer questions. Take him!!!
Mr. Bill is extremely nice and helpful as long as you show your good learning attitude.
He is a really good teacher, extremely helpful and very clear. 3 midterms and a final and one midterm grade is dropped, homeworks help for the exam, attendence is taken simultaneusly and if its necessary he curves.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! came up with hilarious stories almost every lecture, very neat notes with different colors. Tells you exactly what is on the test. Read the book and do all the aplia hw assignments and you'll do fine. takes random attendance 5 times (worth 10 pts each). I'm definitely taking him again for Econ 121! :)
By far the best teacher i have had at UIC. I dont like Econ very much but i actually looked forward to his class. He is very funny and makes class interesting. He is very down to earth and a nice guy. Helpful and even gives his students his cell #.
Took him for ECON 120 and 121. By far one of the best professors I've had. I don't like Economics that much but I really enjoyed his classes. He uses real world examples and actually teaches you. You can call him and if you don't understand something, he's easy to talk to and will actually take the time to help. You need to study hard though =)
He makes everything interesting. His class is not boring, but the material is not easy. I took him for ECON 120 and he taught well, but his tests are really hard. He is very generous in grading, but it doesn't make up for the hard tests. I don't think I'm going to take another economics class, but if I had him I would.
very nice guy, exams aren't hard if you study and read the book. didn't spend much time on this class but if i had just spent a little more, an A isn't hard to get. his real world examples are very helpful and makes class very interesting, wasn't very interested in economics but this class was interesting
great teacher!!!
Professor is clear in presentation and also entertaining. Coursework was hard, but I could have studied more. I would recommend this professor.
Excellent teacher. I needed another credit so I took both 120 and 121 with him. I hate econ but he made it interesting. Only problem is his exams are very difficult. If you study and pay attention in lecture, you should be fine.
Mr. Bill is great professor! He is funny professor and makes the lecture fun when he can. He lets out us early, but goes over the material. Econ is REALLY HARD! So if you have to take it, take it with Mr. Bill!
For the first time in my life I looked forward to going to his lectures. Very engaging, and knowledgable man. Excellent teacher!
Awesome teacher. Really knows his stuff and the class isn't hard if you do your homework and pay attention in lectures. He also gives out money to show an example and lets you keep it so show up to class you might get lucky.
Attend lectures, listen to the examples he mentions in class as they will show up on the tests. Simple class. Termpaper is annoying but easy grading. The only hard weeks are when you have to finish part of the paper & do your hw/study for exam.
Mr. Bill is a great teacher - he explains things very well and uses great examples, but his tests are difficult and his grading system sucks. They are detail oriented and very much into the book. Great class, difficult grading.
He is a Great teacher. His lectures can actually be entertaining, I looked forward to going to his class. He drops the lowest test score and lowest homework score, gives study guides, If you read the book you will likely get an A.
Great teacher but his grading system sucks. Exams are extremely hard and quizzes are random. Worked my ass off still didn't get an A.
I love Mr Bill. He's a great teacher, great explainations! I want to have his babies!!! YES
DO NOT TAKE HIM, unless you have his old tests. Everyone cheats and he doesnt care as long as he does not see it! Exams and quizzes are very hard. His class hurt my GPA
He is one of my fav. teachers ever. His tests and exams are hard, but if you come to class you will understand. His lectures are extremely fulfilling!! pay attention and you will understand the concepts. he is so funny and he is always ranting. i will miss his class!!! :((
Mr.Bill has been the most influential professor on my academic career! His class is very interesting he explains all of the topics thoroughly. He gives you study guides that if you know what's on it you will get an A in the class, I got A's in both 120 and 121 and will be taking him for 220.
Mr. Bill is a great guy & a very good instructor. His exams can be kind of difficult sometimes, but he gives a lot of free points, so it's usually fine. So funny & keeps lecture interesting!! :)
Hands down the best teacher I've had at UIC, even though I'm not an econ major. He's a fun and genuine guy, loves to teach about econ and breaks it down so you can really understand. He's understanding if you have a situation and may miss a test, but only if serious reason. TIP: study old exams if you can find them and buy the book! it really helps
Great professor! his enthusiasm makes it easy to pay attention in class. Tests are kind of hard but if you take notes enough and do the hw, you'll do fine. Overall great person.
Grading system is so hard and none of the material he teaches are on the tests
By Far one of the BEST TEACHERS i have had in my life. He is very knowledgeable in the subject and if you like taking good notes that you can READ, hes perfect. quizes are easy as long as you pay attention in class and uses funny and relatable examples to the lesson. TAKE HIm. YOU WONT REGRET IT.
Took Mr Bill for both 120 and 121. Tests aren't hard, he is just a really hard grader. Even if your answer is correct he will probably take off some points just because you didn't put down exactly what he wanted. His lectures are good and he definitely knows his stuff. I'd give him a C overall. Oh, and buy the NEWEST edition of the book.
Professor Bill is an amazing teacher! His teaching style is focused on using pertinent examples that are presented in a memorable way. His tests are hard because he wants to know that you actually studied and understand the concepts. I highly recommend his class!
He is super helpful. His explanation for the material is so clear. Pay attention in class, read the book, do the homework and you should get an A in the class. He has 8 pop quizzes, but they are easy points if you go to lecture.
Horrible teacher! Tests are insaney hard even if you understand the material. His lectures are extremely boring and make no sense at all. Even if your answer is right, he takes off 8 points because you dont explain it the way he wants you too. So many people withdrew and had to retake his class. DO NOT recommend. Seriously the worst teacher ever. This class is beyond your capability. His popular quizzes are insanely hard too as well as the homework so there aren't "easy points".
Don't take him unless you have the old exams in your hand! He doesn't care about cheating, ask him questions during exams or quizzes he'll tell you the answer! You learn nothing, waste your time, and you think your doing well until he you see your grade. Office hours were a waste of time. Reading the book is your best bet, if you can stay awake.
Mr. Bill is a good guy! I'm a psych major and only took this class as an elective yet I enjoyed it a lot. His lectures are fun/interesting, and his pop quizzes are easy points as long as you briefly look over your notes from the previous class. He does grade a bit hard but not too bad.
He is such a great professor. He explains the topics well and makes the class very enjoyable. I loved coming to his lectures and studying did not feel like hard work. He focuses on what's the most important and practices it with students until they understand. He sets the bar high but he genuinely wants all of his students to succeed. Great person!
textbook needed to study. random pop quizzes in class. 4 exams, 1 got dropped. no real curve. points added back on exams for questions most people got wrong. tough A, need to work for a B
This guys hilarious. I seriously enjoyed coming to his class because he would make econ fun, by incorporating his own personal experiences. He was really helpful, uses the textbook a lot, he gave away two questions on the final. He also curved very generously. TA could have been better though. But he was great.I strongly recommend him.
I've taken him now for 120 and 121 and I really enjoy coming to class. He makes his lectures very entertaining which is needed because the subject isn't the most exciting in the world. Tests are okay because he does grade sort of difficult, but he's very clear cut on what to expect on them. He does also drop the lowest testquzhomework.
He is a funny professor. However, if you are not interested in the class the lectures will last forever and will be very boring. He gives random quizzes based off lecture notes, he tells you which week they will be given. Tests are tough of you don't attend class.
Hilarious teacher, but his tests are hard because he asks you to explain many things. Point gets taken off if not answered the way you want him to. The quizzes are based of his lectures talking points that he posts on BB. He uses the book as well, so it is a MUST to read the book in order to understand what he is saying bc he expects you to read.
Great teacher and ties in real life examples to his lecture. The catch here is that he expects you to read the book. The homework and the tests are heavily graded. If do not answer his way, points are taken away. The final (250 pts) is required & it is tough. So do your absolute BEST on HW and test && do them early!!! One HW and test is dropped.
Mr. Bill's classes are fun and informative. He has a way of making economics fun and relatable to every day life. Unfortunately, his exams are very tough and he is a very tough grader. The papers required for this class add significantly to understanding the course material, but again, are graded hard. The TA for this class was not helpful at all.
This is the professor that has helped me to decide to take a degree in economics. He is an amazing teacher to have in general and teaches you a lot about the field. What you put in is what you get out. He is very fair though.
I always look forward to going to Mr. Bill's class. He knows how to keep my attention and is hilarious. He almost makes me want to switch from engineering to economics. Gives points back on each exam. Lowest exam gets dropped. Three HW assignments for the semester, 6 quizzes, and two essays a page each. Easy A or B if you show up to class.
Mr. Bill is a great instructor. He breaks down the terms to make easier to comprehend with funny stories that stick in your head. Gives 3 hw assignments and 3 tests, drops the lowest one. Yes, he is a tough grader, so you have to know your material well. Very helpful and he cares about his students, so much that he knows some on a first name basis.
Bill, as he likes to be called is one of my favorite professors at UIC. His lectures are extremely clear and hilarious. You won't fall asleep during them and will actually learn. He manages to teach dense material in a clear way and is eager to help you when you don't understand something.
MR. BILL IS THE BEST!!! I took him for Econ120 & 121. His lectures never gets old. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about economics. There's barely any homework and the "papers" he assigns you are so easy - and a grade booster. He gives free points for every exam and also pop quizzes but warns you which week he's giving it. Exams are tricky!
Bill is hands down one of the best professors at UIC. He gives well thought-out examples and encourages students to ask questions and give feedback. Economics isnt the most exciting of topics, but he does a good job relating the subject material to some aspect in everyone's life. PARTICIPATE IN EXTRA CREDIT (in class and online, its worth it)
He's the best, and his tests and homeworks are clear. You should be able to get a decent grade as long as you show up and lowkey pay attention. Make sure to get the textbook, & show up to the discussion. His class is enjoyable and he's an extremely entertaining teacher.
Best Econ professor there is! I left the course with a great understanding of Macro Economics. His teaching methods are great! Do show up to lectures and participate, this guy will pull out his wallet give you money and use you as an example about how the global economy works. Really interesting class and amazing professor!
this guy loves economics he's very clear on what you need to know for tests & there's only three per semester one of which he drops.. he gives "random" quizzes but tells you which week of the semester they'll be in. Doesn't take attendance in lectures but does in discussions I passed this class with over 100% I highly recommend taking his class
He is an amazing teacher. I went into Economics to fulfill Gen Ed requirements, but after ECON 120 and 121, I am now an economics major. He makes economics seem interesting with in class examples as well as explanations. Look over the homework packets because he takes questions off of there for the tests. There Is extra credit opportunities.
Funniest professor I have to date. There are random quizzes but he lets you know when those will be. He will literally pull out money to encourage people to answer questions! Homework and tests are very clear, he makes class enjoyable. Go to discussion it will help. Does drop the lowest exam grade plus he does give extra credit !!
Funniest professor EVER! Random quizzes but he lets you know in advance when it will be. He pulls out money to encourage people to answer! Easy way to make cash! Homework and tests are super clear if you go to class. He makes it very enjoyable. Does drop the lowest exam grade and homework plus he does give out extra credit! I would recommend!
He's literally the best! Really cares about Economics and his students. Easy to get an A in his class.
You can easily tell Mr. Bill is passionate about the subject matter. The class is relatively easy but you do have to put the work in to get the results. There are pop quizzes, 3 exams (lowest score drops), 3 homework assignments lowest drops, 1 short paper, and a cumulative final. All in all, a really good teacher probably one of the best at UIC.
Truly amazing professor! By far best in Econ dep. Really cares about what you learn and does everything possible to make sure material is understood. Uses a lot of graphs to help visualise certain aspects- super helpful. Hilarious! Smart and caring! Inspirational! Fair with grading. Take Mr. Bill - he will make you fall in love with econ!
He is by far the best professor I have ever had. He has such a passion for economics. He is such a genuine and caring human that truly wants his students to succeed. His tests are hard, but by reading the textbook and other grades, this class isn't a hard A or B. Lots of extra credit. He is hilarious and makes class enjoyable.
My boy Mr Bill is the best econ teacher of them all. Catch him running Goldman Sachs one day. Living legend.
Mr. Bill is one heck of a professor. He is very passionate with economics. Drops a test, detailed study guides, and extra credit that will definitely help in the end. If you need to take macroeconomics, take it with Mr. Bill.
Take very good notes, almost everything on the exam comes from his lectures. Be in class everyday as to miss extra credit quizzes. Be in class during finals week and week before to get sneak peek at final exam questions.
He inspired me to pursue an Econ major because of his amazing lectures. The textbook isn't required but it can be useful for additionally information. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. The tests aren't very difficult but use the study guide. He posts the notes on Blackboard so focus on his oral lectures. HE'S AN AMAZING LECTURER and very accessible.
Mr. Bill knows the material well and makes lectures interesting. He is such a cool guy to talk to if you approach him and he's understanding. The work load isn't heavy but you have to know your stuff to get a good grade. Going to lectures and taking notes is enough to understand, and the textbook isn't necessary but helpful.
Not a hard class. He drops one exam out of 3 and one homework assignment out of 3. And they aren't even that hard to do well on them if you show up to class most of the time. There are random lecture quizzes but it says on the syllabus which weeks they are. 100% recommend this class. Take advantage of the extra credit!!
Just take him! Hes the best, very laidback and hilarious in lectures. Offers many incentives such as money for volunteering and many extra credit opportunities. Drops the lowest exam and homework too! Youll never be disappointed taking his class.
Great teacher. His class made me want to major in Econ. Very knowledgeable and will explain things clearly. Fun and tells jokes in class. Very chill, and goes by "Mr. Bill" Easy A
Mr. Bill is wonderful, take his class! His lectures are very easy to retain and are even enjoyable. He is very clear on his expectations and is a very fair grader. He adds a few points to all tests just in case he made an error on one of the questions. He makes economics fun, I would recommend Mr. Bill to everyone!
Best professor so far in the MBA program. Very organized, clear syllabus. Very available for questions, in person and via email. I wish he taught other graduate level classes.
Great professor that has clear outline of the course and makes lectures very funny
One of the best professors I've had! He makes lectures easy to follow and is very hilarious during them. He makes the topics easy to follow and has extra credit! Overall, he is really great! I highly recommend.
really great prof, good at explaining things. not an econ/business/finance major but his class was interesting, would take again. reading the book helps, esp for the homework
Gives extra credit and there's a clear outline for grading.
He calls himself Mr. Bill and he's AMAZING. You don't have to buy the book but dont miss any class because everything on the exam is covered in lecture and the book. I didn't buy a book and I got an A. His lectures are great and he's hilarious. A really sweet guy. His quizzes and exams are straight forward just study a decent amount and youll be ok
Professor William (Mr Bill) is a very good teacher. ECON 520 is easy if you attend all his classes. The home work tests are easy if you note the graphs and examples from his classes. Do all the home works and revise them before the mid term and final exam to get an A. He gives extra credit in mid term and final exams (4 extra points).
Pretty straightforward course, 5 pop quizzes in lecture & 5 in discussion, 3 exams, 1 final. Pop quizzes are very short. Just attend lectures and you'll know the material. Never bores during lectures, he's got good sense of humor!
Mr. Bill loves what he does and brings that enthusiasm into teaching class. Read, do the homework, understand the concepts/how to apply them and the exams will be easy. Several short answer questions, so get ready to write.
Mr. Bill is amazing! He's such a funny guy, and is one of the fairest professors that I've ever had. I'll be clear, Econ is not my favorite subject by far, but he made the class interesting and engaging every single time to the point that I'd WILLINGLY take another Econ class as long as he taught it. He makes himself available and is always helpful
I am pretty sure that if my first ECON course had not been with Mr. Bill, I would have probably failed. The material is dense and difficult, but Mr. Bill made it seem intuitive and common sense. His lectures were engaging, and I am fortunate to have taken his class! The dad jokes are a huge plus.
I was doing ok in the class until the final. Super hard. Who gives a 250 point final in a 100 level econ course??? Ridiculous. Took this class to ease off my hard bio courses. Was I wrong with choosing this
Mr. Bill was the reason I chose my major in Econ. He's so nice and made the content easy to understand. He came up with different ways to approach problems so that we could be confident in our knowledge of the material. The tests were fairly difficult but he prepares you for them.
Mr Bill got a real good sense of humor and shows a great passion for Economics. He gives random pop quizzes, but all his quizzes and exams come mostly from the past papers or at least have the same concept. The final exam is worth 250pts, but fairly easy if you attend lectures and take notes.
Professor is funny and caring. He gives a detailed study guide. You will have in class quizzes 5 questions mc. Homeworks, tests, and Quizzes can be found on Coursehero. He drops 1 homework, quiz and test
Mr. Bill is not easy. He cracks a lot of jokes but isn't good at teaching at all. This is a university not a comedy club, he should resign and work at the laugh factory because he's not a good economist or proffesor. Also him and his TA's are very very tough graders
Makes the course material seem super easy in lecture, jokes around a lot, but when it comes to homework and tests he tries to confuse you. with. every. single. question.... Its not fun... don't dumb down the lectures and try to appeal to even the dumbest of nails when you make questions extremely confusing.
Great at getting the main message in his lectures. He's approachable and makes micro and macro econ understandable to any non business students. As a plus he's great at keeping the class laughing.
He is AMAZING! Very good at explaining. Funny and you actually learn from him. He gives extra credit ON EVERYTHING. He posts his notes on blackboard. I took him for ECON 120 as well. This is the second time taking him.
He is a great guy and is also great at teaching. Don't listen to negative feedback. Easy A class and he explains and teaches everything in simple and easy way. Lot of extra credit opportunities as well. Can't believe he is receiving negative feedback, I believe it is from students who want things handed to them and not try in school. IGNORE them.
The class was aight but the random quizzes were a killer being worth 30 points and also being so random you didnt know when. The tests have 12 questions but are worth a 100 points so you either get an A or you get a C. Lectures were hard he was random with his teaching methods the TAS didnt know much and had to ask the professor everything.
Definitely of not have ended up with a B. He gives you almost 120 points worth of extra credit which is at least a whole letter grade so even if you dont do well on the exams its almost impossible not to do well. Go to class. Do the online assignments and you should be fine.
Ive never taken an Economics class before his class so I was afraid I was going to be lost but listening to him talk about Economics passionately made me want to study about it more. Would recommend to anyone who is open to learning something new. Easy A if you pay attention in class and study his lecture notes.
