HE'S VERY COOL, YES...???
Very Funny and clear
No Comments
knows what he's talking about
His lectures are entertaining. Use PowerPoint multimedia. He's funny, loud and clear, though not very personable one on one. He uses good anecdotes to relate the material. You can't do well if you don't read the book and come to class.
Very technology oriented with lectures. Not very personable. Knows what he is talking about though. Exams are hard!
very funny
Great professor. He's very helpful, and he won't mind taking time out of his schedule to help students. Like everyone else said: very humourous
Class is fun and fair. Overall, go to class and ride the notebook and this class should be pretty easy.
Great Professor!!! Makes Economics easy to understand. Recommended.
Great professor. He teaches the class with a clear and often entertaining way. He breaks down the lessons stoner style, if you know what I mean. Take the class and study and you'll do fine.
A funny teacher who loves Ferrari's. He has nice presentations on hand to help understand concepts. Just be careful of the department final, which is insanely hard compared to his tests during the semester.
Funny teacher, be careful on his tests, not as easy as deemed to be.
VERY NICE TEACHER... HE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT N SAMPLE TESTS!!! SO IF YOU FAIL THEN YOU ARE RETARDED! HE MAKES ECON FUN !
Great class, pretty easy. Extra credit too for going to basketball games. Sample tests as well that give most of the test away, however be sure to take a look at those notes.
He is an awesome teacher! Fair and entertaining.
Pretty cool teacher. Lectures are entertaining and he gives good sample tests and extra credit.
interesting lectures, uses pop and rock culture to explain economy, liked him and recomend him
the first day of class was absolutely hilarious hes funny and seems like an interesting professor and cant wait to see what the rest of the semester has to offer. Ill post my (post)OPINION after ive finished the spring sem. but so far hes really fair and funny and cool easy as long as you keep up
A cool professor! took on fall04. lots of fun. great notes. he makes econ fun! recommend!
Cool, cool, and cool.
All around awesome teacher. As long as you show up, do the in class assignments, and study the exam review he gives, there is no way you wouldn't get an A in his class.
Billy, you rock!!!! Your class rocked.
I LOVE THIS GUY!!! He's the best around!!
Everyone should take this professor at least once during their UNLV career. Great professor and gives you alot of chances for extra credit and gives sample tests to help you study. You will be surprised how much you learn in his class.
This professor was great! The first day I knew I would enjoy the class and I sure did. He thinks econ, so there are big incentives for students that study the sample exams he gives through the web. Homework isn't too tough and uses APS book. I RECOMMEND THIS CLASS.
Despite being a huge class, he made it worthwhile...
COOL GUY. Go to sporting events for extra credit, it'll help your grade.
Robinson is a cool professor. As long as you go to class and takes notes you will do fine. He really cares about his students and is very helpful. TAKE HIM!
He thinks that he is superior to others, and believes he is the best faculty at UNLV. In my opinion he is just a complex, maybe nuts. He screams in the class room to get his point cross. He uses the "underdog" as a email address. Go figure the rest!!!!
Good class. Bill reminds me of Wallace Shawn the actor. His tests are a little tricky but if you know the material you will pass. The true false questions are the hardest part. They are worded so that you have to know precisely what he is asking. The rest is good as long as you go to class. I recommend him as a teacher.
This guy is great! That's about all I can say... he makes class interesting and keeps you up with his goofy self. One of the best instructors I've had at UNLV. Especially in economics, he's by far the BEST econ teacher in the whole school!!! TAKE HIM!!!
I felt that he explained economics very well. He is there if you need to help, and he gives extra credit for going to sporting events.
Awesome teacher... whether you're interested in econ or not, youll learn SOMETHING there. GREAT GUY!

The guy likes metal, and would probably come to an Angryhead show. He rocks!
He's the best! Thanks to him, people are coming to our tennis matches!
Best Teacher Ever. I'm not kidding! He cares about us learning the material and even gives suggestions on how to study. I think he is by far the best teacher at UNLV. :-)
Awesome teacher, he makes class fun! If you have to take Econ take Bill. Test are pretty simple, he gives the test from last semester before the test so you can get an idea of whats on them. He gives a little extra credit which helps. Best Teacher ever!
Seriously he is like the best econ professor ever. It is so clear and u dont even have to buy a book. Go to the lectures and you will be fine. Plus he gives you practice tests which are very helpful. The concepts are pretty tricky but he makes it interesting. Only take this class with robinson!
Learn about Economics and UNLV sports. Promotes school spirit.I reccomend taking this class in a crowded lecture hall.Difficulty decreases the bigger the class is.
great professor. very funny and relates econ to music/sports to make things interesting. many extra credit opportunies and helpful sample tests. no homework! be smart and take econ 102 with dr. robinson.
The best professor I have had. Relates well to the students and makes economics interesting.
He is way to loud! He Doesn't spend any time helping student outside of class, and will never respond to an e-mail. And he is not that EASY!! The avergae test grades were about a 70 or 65. Not a bad class. But not the best!!
What a funny guy,he is really good at teaching and have fun. I wonder who else can explain Microecon so much interesting and EZ like him. Went to his class is like went to a talk show. Great sense of Humor.
Makes class interested, adds some pretty dry humor, but for the most part he's entertaining and his tests are very fair. Make sure you print off his practice exams via his website, he always takes questions from it. Overall, great professor to take your economics class with. Not a guarenteed pass, but just show up and you'll learn something.
One of the funniest professors I have ever had. Lectures are entertaining and he puts practice exmas on his website. The only tricky part on the tests are his true/false questions, otherwise tests are easy. I would definitely recommend this prfoessor to anyone who has to take econ.
awesome guy!
he is awesome! hes very interesting and keeps you awake in class. he's great at making the class interesting he relates things in ways you would never think of. he was very helpful and nice i recomend EVERYONE take him for econ 103!
Funny teacher! He makes classes fun. I got an A but hated the "fill in the blanks" on the tests.
He was the best professor I have ever had ... totally easy and interesting too... one draw back you have to show up for class.
i took his summer course and got an A. you have to show up for class to know what is going on. some of the test questions were tricky, especially the true/false. as long as you go to class and study all the lecture notes you will be fine.
Great prof very easy class and very understandable teaching style. although if you have questions you might not be able to ask them because he really talks and shouts a lot.
He is definitely entertaining! He transfers the concepts really well to us, and makes it fun. His stories always relate to what we're discussing, and they are usually pretty good stories, anyway. I recommend him!
Read the book, pay strong attention to lectures. Read the slides and incorporate what he says. This class is an easy A if you pay attention. He likes to crack a lots of weird jokes, for cripes sake LAUGH. The class will be dry and boring unless you laugh at his jokes. He wants the class to interact with his teachings.XtraCredit4 attendingUNLVsports
His teaching style was great. understood much better than any other class. he made the class very interesting. sample tests and homeworks were straight forward. study the sample test, notes, homework. you will definately get an A
This was a great teacher. Very understandable, easy to listen to, and enjoyable the way it came across. I'd recommend him to anyone, even if they don't like economics.
Best teacher I have ever had. Don't leave UNLV without having taken one of his classes. He transforms that which could easily be boring material into something exciting and thought-provoking.
Easy teacher as long as you come to class, study guides are just like the tests. Just be careful some test questions are tricky so make sure you read the tests closely.
One of the best professors at UNLV. I think everyone who attended the class enjoyed his lectures. The test are based upon lectures and reading assignments. He gives sample test, which prepares you well for the test. Overall I'd rate this professor an A.
Great teacher! Keeps you awake in class and makes the material interesting. Doesn't get off topic. Take good notes, go EVERY DAY (his tests are mostly based on his lectures), and you will make an A in his class.
had this class at 8:30am but he defiantly woke me up and kept class interesting. i hot a C but would for sure take him again!
Prof Robinson defiantly opened my eyes how the world works. I took him during the summer and his class was at 8:00 but he kept us up and wanting to go. Class was exciting and a long as you go everyday you should have no problem passing. Thank you Prof Robinson, I gave you your chili pepper. FINE
very high energy professor ...makes lots of noise and can keep you awake at 830 in the morning.... Enjoyable and gives out extra credit sometimes during test....Didnt buy textbook and still passed with a B
Sports econ should be a great elective for any business major who's not stupid. I learned more in this class than any other ECON class and had lots of fun. 3 exams and 1 powerpoint project, make friends early on in the class, trust me. ;) Sorry Dr. Robinson no chili pepper for you because you think its weird. FINE~!
he was a great teacher. teaches the subject, stays on topic, gives extra credit. he will keep you awake and keep the class interesting
Good teacher, funny, has good presentations. Does not use powerpoint instead uses corral. ;D Really good, just make sure you listen to his lectures, he will throw out keywords that will be on the test but not on the lecture presentations.
Prof Robinson is one of the best professors i have ever taken. He's really funny and very smart. His class consists of 3 exams and 3 homework assignments. Aslong as you go to class and take good notes, you will do fine. He also offers extra credit but most of all he makes the subject very interesting and eager to atten class.
Robinson is a great professor. He is a little weird and has random outburst but a super nice guy. He gives sample tests to study from which end up being alot like the tests itself. He offers extra credit if you attend sporting events. I would definitely recommend him!
he says the words yes? no? yes? no? yes? no? yes? yes? no? maybe? yes? no? no ? yes? no? am i right? after pretty much every sentence he says it like 1300 times with a thumps up at the end. Funny guy
Great Teacher. Almost made me want to change my major to Econ. I understood the economy better in general after this class. You dont even need the book, his lectures were enough. He wrote the book himself and he's really, really good teacher. The way he lectures were excellent, i couldve just went to lectures and not study his notes or read the boo
Go to class take notes and hope you understand, cause if you don't you are on your own cause he wont help you at all. Unless of course you are a girl on a sports team for the school and if so then your are completely fine. Test are a little tough and the final is stuff he doesn't cover. He does teach the class in a way that is intersting.
Plays loud, annoying rock/rap music with his slide presentation. Sometimes makes catty remarks during his lectures. Is rude one-on-one in his office. Doesn't want to explain anything. Talks to you like you're stupid. His behavior is that of an immature high school jock. Overall, a grouchy old tenured prof. His textbook is okay though.
THIS GUY IS A FOOL. All he says is FINE! YES NO YES NO YES NO. Easy A. You have to show up to class in order to get a good grade. The second test he gives is a lot harder than the first.
this class like many people said is easy, just show up and pay attention to lecture because you don't use the book at all(which is online). Test are easy but of course they get harder as you go along. I was dreading taking econ (social work major) and this was surprisingly fun and easy so i absolutely suggest it to everyone!
Fun class. Harder than you might think for a non-major course, but still pretty easy as long you attend lectures. Offers extra credit, but it's not really worth it. Many times the material covered is very different in lecture than what's in the book, and he tests both, so make sure you read the book and go to lecture. It's a good class though.
Don't be fooled. I'm just like you looking for easy teachers. I was swayed by the positive comments. Robinson was not an easy A by any means. Obnoxious and not funny. Unbearable lectures. Uses weird metaphors instead of relating material to real world. Homework is useless busy work. At least in ECON 102/103 you could learn something.
Greatest teacher I have had yet.
I liked this class . ended up with a B and i only attended on test days . no hw . idk if we had a book or not , but i didnt hav one. he tries to be funny . in his class u pretty much sit there nd listen to the lectur/powerpoint. thats it , pretty easy .
Economics of sports and entertainment. The class was easy and interesting.
His lectures are fun and he has a very intuitive approach to teaching a very methodical subject. Class is not mandatory but very helpful. You can print the syllabus, practice exams and textbook info off his website. He offers extra credit...best business prof I've taken at UNLV so far.
Do not take his class. This man is crazy and incomprehensible. He talks about nothing. I was looking for an easy A, too, but I would have rather had a professor who didn't sound like an idiot and ramble incessantly.
He made the material fun! He plays music with his power point slides and he makes his students laugh. As long as you show up to class you will pass. His tests are easy if you attend class. I would definitely take him for another class.
He doesn't teach. its extremely boring and thinks hes hysterical. its a waste of your money taking his class.
Do not take him if you know nothing about statistics. This class is very difficult and his lectures are annoying. He thinks he is so funny, but no one laughs at his jokes. He makes you feel dumb if you ask a question in class. your grade is based on 4 tests and that's all. If your a bad test taker I would highly recommend to take someone else.
Great for right brainers and ppl who don't get math, otherwise he is very aggravating; his "free" online book is filled with errors and has no answers to the problems; buy the book at the bookstore or get ready to pull your hair out. I will never take this guy again.
AKA Bill Robinson: Great for right brainers and ppl who don't get math, otherwise he is very aggravating; his "free" online book is filled with errors and has no answers to the problems; buy the book at the bookstore or get ready to pull your hair out. I will never take this guy again.
Econ 261-statistics. Anyone else teaching, and I would have hated this class. I love his loud goofy style,he's an attention getter. WIll take more courses by him. No book, he has it posted on his website. No homework, just three exams and a final. Ample opportunity at extra credit. Super guy, I had to shake his hand when I left
Very easy class, with little studying i got a high B. all his test are fill in the blank and workout problems. He is very very repetitive but it tends to make it stick in your head. his book is online so it saves you money.
He was an interesting professor. He tries to make his presentations entertaining and relates music to economics. You are graded on three homework assignments and three tests. If you are a sports fan he offers plenty of extra credit by attending various UNLV sporting events. Yes? No? Yes! No! Yes? No! FINE! Haha
Fun class. I actually enjoyed his lectures and learned a lot. He uses the kindle application for his book, which is cool. He is a very interesting guy. His tests are easy if u study and go to class. Take him!
Took his class for summer. The textbook is a good summary of the lecture. In the summer, grades were based on 3 exams, not cumulative. Very loud person.
He is HOT~~~ He may not be the super handsome guy but his intelligence is what makes him sexy~
Not to hard of a class. Sit in the back and mess around and text the whole time? You'll fail. He tries to engage students in active learning. Does great real life examples. No homework. Free book on the class website. 3 exams and 1 final. 1/2 an exam is fill in the blank other 1/2 is word problems. 2hrs of study a week to get an A.
4 exams, he provides a sample test before each exam. He goes over it and it seems so easy, but when the actual test comes it is pretty different than the sample test and much harder. I went to his office once and he just nodded his head the whole time and never answered none of my questions. I studied pretty hard for his class and got an A.
Fair grader. Eccentric. No textbook, papers are posted online, only ~5 for the semester. Exams r from lectures, so try not to miss class. Get over his booming voice and the random sound clips of pop songs and u'll learn how to apply economics to understand business decisions in the real world. I had no prior interest in sports til this class.
Try's to keep you interested, good examples, interesting. Grade based on a couple of tests, gives study guide.
Funniest teacher I have ever had! He needs to quit his day job & become a comedian. 8am is a little early for his extremely loud voice & music so maybe take it later in the day. Highly recommend this class he makes economics really easy. Theres hardly any work and attendance isn't mandatory.
Good teacher. Very energetic. Class was an easy A. He has his own textbook on his own site, which I referenced when I missed class, but going to class is easiest. Grades are based on 3 Excel assignments (easy) and a few tests (3 or 4) which are based on his slides.
Professor is a little strange. When students ask questions he has a way of making them feel dumb. Grades comes strictly from tests, which are easy if you go to class.
Had no prior interest in econ. Just took as a random elective. He completely opened my eyes how the economy works. Very easy to follow, exciting, funny. I attended 95% of lectures, didn't read the book at all, and passed with a B. I learned a lot from him. Take notes! Excellent Prof and knows his stuff!
Professor is engaging, and has slides with music to keep you entertained. An easy class overall, however he really made the class about his political beliefs. We as students pay for an education, not to hear about professors political agendas. We don't care who you voted for and why. Just teach us, and leave the politics out!
Took him over the summer. Was an easy A. 4 exams, e-textbook used. He was funny and once he donned a Southern accent and I couldn't stop laughing! However, he doesn't like brown-nosers and it shows; one guy was clearly disliked by him and Bill wouldn't look at him when the guy spoke! Interesting subject but class was sometimes boring.
Dr. Robinson is one of the best professors I've ever had. The subject is not my taste, but he made it easier to understand and interesting with his humor. He reviews us the class before every exam, all the class material is on his website (so no need to buy a book), and he offers extra credit by going to certain UNLV games. Got an A.
You can pass the class without getting the textbook; however, you really have to pay attention in class. He lectures using ppt every class, but keeps it entertaining with his loud voice & random music. I do not particularly like classes that only has 3 tests for the full grade. I barely got an A, but still managed to do so. Offers ec.
I like him
Fairly easy class. Grades are based on 3 Exams & 3 hmwk assignments. If you bomb the exams, it'll be hard to save your grade. SHOW UP TO CLASS. His exams are tricky because some of the exam answers are of things he talks about in class, thats not necessarily "econ" related. Ex| John Lennon was killed by INCOME TAXES. Who would guess that?? Show up!
Difficult tests and he's full of himself. His in class theatrics get really old. Tests are fairly easy and the extra credit is simple. If you want to pass the first time, GO TO CLASS
Great professor that teaches the gist of Macro. Super clear, easy to follow, and quite hilarious and entertaining. Attending class is a must because some things he mentions are not in his own textbook. Attend class and read his super short textbook and you'll have no trouble passing his exams.
He is very passionate! The course is not hard. We just had 4 exams, no other homework or assignment. He also offered extra credits. The sample exams are useful.
Summer is best to take ECON 102.... They should have kept ECON 103 first in the order of ECON classes to take.
This guy was awesome!
The best teacher at UNLV. He cares about his students and puts a ton of effort into his lectures. The book is ten bucks on the kindle app and he rights it himself. Show up to class and take notes and you will do fine. Class has 3 homework assignments and 3 test.
Recycles his jokes and stories every semester, but they are effective at getting the point across. Slacked a bit this semester and missed ten classes, but still an easy A. His book is what he covers in the lecture, so most questions will come from there. Perhaps 5 - 10 exam questions are based on historical or personal opinions said in class.
Very entertaining. Plays music in class to keep the energy level up, uses modern day examples to prove his points. Econ is boring to me, but he is by far the best professor to take if youre not an Econ major. Definitely recommend. Youll learn, and have to study, but he is fair and actually pretty cool.
Amazing professor. One of the few professors I've had who knows what they're talking about and can teach. GO TO CLASS. He has a good sense of humor and he'll throw in easy test questions for easy points. Offers a lot of extra credit opportunity but if you go to class and review the notes before the test it's an easy A.
Great teacher, tests are kind of hard, fill in questions & short answers are kind of tough but if you read the book (he wrote it) and look over notes you'll do well. He's entertaining and laid back. Best teacher I've had here!
This professor gets off topic almost every class. He explains things as if you are looking for a career in stats, which would be good except everyone in the class was from the hotel college. His tests are all fill in the blank and written questions. Some like him, some don't, I prefer a teacher who likes to help the students and not hurt them.
Good instructor in class. Outside of the class he is a jerk. I asked him for help on this problem the campus got me in, all he did was make you feel like an idiot. He won't see things from your point of view, and interrupts you. Gives up on extra credit if majority of students get it wrong on test. If he would have graded mine I wont have dropped.
Great Econ professor. He makes the subject entertaining. He makes jokes, uses music clips in powerpoints, and makes movieentertainment references to make the class more fun. Sample tests provided are extremely helpful. Go to class, read or skim the textbook, and make sure to go to the review session before exams and you'll get at least a B.
I got an A cause i studied A LOT! Macro is hard for me. He gives no notes to go off of, but does give study guides. (fill in the blank tests!) He doesnt target all learning styles. If you're an auditory learner this might be the class for you. He made me laugh every class tho & his book is $10 bucks if you're short on cash. NO excel projects. )
Your tests are everything! Go to class! No extra credit!
He is a really fun guy. Uses music and modern day examples to explain Econ. Super nice and willing to help. If you read his book and take notes on his lectures, you will be fine.
He's a professor who is very knowledgable and knows what he is talking about. He is very good at breaking down tough concepts and making them very easy to understand. Uses a lot of cheesy jokes that make students laugh and keep them engaged. Grade is mostly based on three exams. BONUS: He uses a book he wrote himself and is under $10 on Amazon.
His test questions are sometimes awfully worded and confusing. He'll throw in questions that use examples specifically used in class so you have to show up. If you know your vocab, came to class everyday, and read the book, it's an easy A.
3 exams, 3 HWs, lectures are easy, but you have to take notes from his PPT, he did not post his ppt. interesting professor, 9.99 dollar for his book online. Tests are basic from his ppt.
Lectures were long and boring, but attendance is a must. Gives extra credit which was nice. Just go to class and pay attention and you will do fine.
This teacher sucked. His exams were extremely hard. Exams are 50 questions + essay. Test is fill in the black, multiple choice & essay. His practice exam did not correlate to the actual exam. You really need to be there everyday and write down every single thing he says. His exams tricks you in every way. Only reason I passed is because of God.
If you were good at Econ 102, you're gonna suck at this. Class is mainly history and a lot of the stuff on the slides doesn't make sense until he explains it, and then he goes off on a tangent, and you're left with notes that make no sense before the test. Didn't go to the help sessions, so not sure if they help. I didn't get much out of this class
Robinson is a really good economics professor. He prepares you for you upcoming tests by giving practice questions that are along the lines of the exam. Study that and study notes around that and you'll pass with a good great. He does go on tangents at times, but it's funny at the same time. Go to class, because his gives hints to test questions.
His classes were fun, and he's a cool guy. His tests would catch me off guard, some questions should be easy enough if you take good notes and memorize them. But some questions would be worded in such a way that would confuse you, which makes you realize you might need to learn the concepts a bit deeper. Hurt my GPA actually, but I'm glad I took it
Perhaps it is because I am an Econ major, but this class was absolutely amazing. Rather than put up random slides that have nothing to do with your quizzes & exams, he puts up quick notes & then goes over them in depth. I'd highly recommend Professor Robinson to anyone who needs this class. 10 easy quizzes & your exams are straight from your notes.
Economics is a difficult course, but if you read and go to class you will be fine! The book is only $10 and he wrote it himself. He gives extra credit, and drop test hints in class so make sure you go! I'm glad I had him as a professor, he's weird, funny, and made econ very interesting. I'm going to miss his class, and I would take it again!
This professor is awesome ! His lectures are always really entertaining so you don't fall asleep in class and you actually learn stuff. The book was $10 which is awesome and he always gives study guides. He is very accommodating as he let me take my test early and is overall a great professor. I would strongly recommend this professor and this clas
Professor Robinson is a great teacher. I took him online and his videos were actually very entertaining. Make sure you watch the videos because they're clear explanations of the quizzes and exams.
One of the most interesting guys Ive had as a teacher. Lectures are entertaining to say the least. Graded by test and quizzes. Thats it. Test can be hard as there is a lot of fill in the blank and essay questions. He gives extra credit for attending various sporting events though. Another plus is that the book is only $10!
UNLV should offer History of Economic thought 442 BEFORE this class. Unless you are geeked out on Economics, you will find yourself inundated with theory about classical economists that you will likely only be familiar with on a superficial level. 442 will introduce you to these people. 313 will give you details regarding modeling.
Robinson is a great professor as long as you leave your political views at the door. He will definitely take his jabs at Trump (he may have done it with Obama too but I wasn't in the class then). They're subtle, but certainly noticeable. His tests cover what's in his book, and his lectures. Take notes on the stupid things too (i.e. Wizard of Oz).
If you are an auditory learner this class is for you. If you are not then avoid this Prof at all costs. I am a straight A student and received a failing grade on my first exam. He says study everything and its true. He went over one section in less than 20 seconds and it appeared on the test. No PPT just all talking. Test r fill in blank, and essays
Book is written by him so lecture isn't necessary to go to since his lectures is just him talking about whats already in the book. He provides no powerpoints and treats a 100 level class like a 400 level class. His study guides are useless as they have no correlation with the exam itself. Class average for the exams were a D so that says something.
His teaching style was not effective in helping me learn the material. Although attendance isn't mandatory, he is lecture heavy, much so that a good portion of exam questions are based off pop culture references said in class, not actual economics. He also goes off on a tangent. I, unfortunately had to drop due to this difficulty. Beware...
Attendance isn't mandatory but you should still go to class anyway as many of his exams are solely based on the pop culture references said in class. I found sites like YouTube to be a better aid in teaching the concepts to me but that's not enough to pass. He's a great person but a horrible teacher. I hope to retake it with a better professor
Dr. Robinson is a great man. However, the need for him to base half of the exam questions on quick references needs to stop. No matter how hard you study the actual material, if you don't memorize every reference that comes out of his mouth, do not expect anything higher than a B.
Dr. Robinson, though a perfectly nice guy, is not a great econ professor. His tests are based on many news references he makes that are not at all related to economics. The only extra credit he gives is attending certain sporting events and if you can't make it or are late at all, you are out of luck. Pick a different professor if you can.
Literally writes 5 - 10 words on his powerpoints, you have to write your own notes on the things he says. If you miss a lecture you're screwed. Makes references some people wont understand (if you never watched games of thrones or wizard of OZ). Doesn't post grades on webcampus. 10 quiz, 2 test, 1 final. Extra credit is attending games at UNLV.
Tests are either you know it or you don't. Don't bother with his "study guide," none of it will appear on it. No use during his office hours and his TA is practically useless . Majority of this class got a C due to his tough tests. You better have photographic memory and extremely good auditory memory because that's his entire exam.
WORST PROFESSOR! His teachings are useless and his reviews are a waste of time! While he teach, he mostly tells jokes around but don't even talk about the lectures! For his exams, there are some questions multiple choice, fill in the blanks, and essays. NO WORD BANKS! The reviews aren't even related to the exams. SAVE YOUR TUITION TAKE SOMEONE ELSE
Terrible professor. His lectures are about completely random things unrelated to the course, I.e, his sister, cars, etc. The study guide is pointless. Exams are fill in the blank with no word bank. He will ask questions on the exam about some random, pointless thing he said 4 weeks ago, so its good attend lecture.
Make sure to take good lecture notes and go to every class. Tests are based off of references he uses, but mostly from the book. If there is some math it will probably be on the test so practice it.
He seemed welcoming first day. After taking a few class, I wished I never taken him as ECON. His lecture slides are useless, only a few words on each slide! He provides extra credit but it's only attending sporting events. His study guide are bogus and exams are hard! A few multiple choice, essay, and fill blanks! If you are smart, don't take him!
Dr. Robinson may be great at economics, but he is not great at teaching. The "practice" tests are vague at best. Quizzes are weekly and somewhat easy. His textbook was $10, so that was a plus! If you are a marketing, accounting, finance, or any other major than econ- he will belittle you. Do yourself a favor-find another instructor OR take a CSN!
He's not as bad as some of his reviews, but you do need to attend class. His lectures are entertaining and relevant. You need to take notes and be writing down what he says, not necessarily what is on the slides. There is a small essay portion on tests that usually isn't explicitly gone over on the study guide. 3 tests, 10 quizzes.
I took him during the summer. He's funny...(sometimes). He only writes a few words on the slides and only has like 5 slides for each chapter. So, make sure to read the book and take notes on the chapters and key terms. Sample exams from previous semesters are in the book and are very similar to the exams he gives you. Study hard and you'll pass.
His lectures and textbook are informative, and hes very knowledgeable. Exams and quizzes are on minute things covered in both so careful attention and notes are needed. Not a very nice person and can be really condescending. If you can get past that and his cold demeanor, hell be fine and get you the knowledge you need. Bad person, fine class.
Very entertaining lecturer, BUT you really need to LISTEN and copy what he says because most of the answers are not on the slide. The weekly quizzes require a mix of notes and skimming the book. Google is not your friend in this class, it will conflict with what he wrote/said. Stay focused and study hard.
Lectures are similar to the book so if you miss a few classes the book is pretty informative. Have to take pretty fast notes on whats being said during class because the slides just have a few words. Exams are pretty much questions from book quizzes, hw and sample exams from the book. Overall, he seems to try to relate to students and keep it fun.
Anyone complaining was just looking for an easy A. His class is two tests, one final, &10 online quizzes. Going to the lectures & good note taking are key to a good grade and he tries to make them funny and engaging. He's a little eccentric, but it worked for me. Studying's a must because he actually wants you to learn something. A+ professor.
Funny dude, but makes you work for your grade. If you don't study you won't pass. His lectures can be super super boring, and he drones on about random stuff that won't be on the test, but sometimes it is so you have to pay attention anyway. If you take good noted and know the practice quizzes out of the textbook by test time it should b an easy b.
Dr. Robinson is a really cool guy! His class is lecture heavy but he tries his best to make it interesting. The whole class is only 10 quizzes, two tests and a final. He gives study guides for tests that have a few questions that are on the actual test. Gives extra credit for going to girl's sporting events.
Great teacher. Just make sure to do your part, like reading the chapters ahead of class. That'll help you ask questions on things you didn't understand (MAKE SURE TO READ!!). Easy to talk to. Gives extra credit. 3 exams, 10 quizzes (online). Im taking him again for 103.
This guy has a bad rep by some students, but if you just do what your suppose to do then this class should be a A. 12 online quizes, 3 exams, and gives lots of EC. He asks good, quality questions on the exams and quizzes. If you want an A without having to do anything don't take him. If your interested in ECON he's a great teacher
Every single class is a lecture. DO NOT skip class or you will fall behind, daily class material/notes are not posted online. You HAVE to read the book and study his lecture notes for tests. During class lectures make sure to pay attention and take notes while he is talking because the lecture note slides are only short bullet points.
There are only 12 quizes, the first one has a trick question. Three exams. You have to read the book watch videos and take a quiz the night BEFORE you get to class. Lectures did not help. Switched to Hybrid without informing before the semester started. This is my first C in three years. He doesn't give + or - just A,B,C,D,F. STUDY HARD!
Took the course over the summer. He may seem intimidating at first but he's a solid choice. His teaching style is different so you might have to change your note-taking and study method. Reading the textbook and doing the practice problems is not enough. You must understand the concepts to get a B at least. Write everything he says during lectures.
He delivers lectures in a fun way, but the actual content of the case is pretty difficult.
Great lectures! There is a lot of content that you will need to be IN class to understand. I recommend taking notes on a laptop so you can keep up with all of his examples. His tests are half essay half multiple choice. He really just wants to see that you know the content. Very straight forward and very fun class! Cool way to see econ applied!
interesting lectures. Tests have a lot of weight, 420 points in the class and tests are 300 points of that so you have to study well on the tests. THE STUDY GUIDES MAY NOT MATCH THE TESTS! Don't use the study guides to study, we had a test where the first page was all things that weren't on the study guide. Study the unit THEN use the study guide
He is a great professor! He has said some crude remarks, but it is not out of place. Moreover, while attendance is not mandatory, go! Somethings are not in the book on those tests since as he explains, economics is changing everyday and he matches that. Plus, they're not boring but insightful! P.S, extra credit is attending volleybal; ez 10pts!
Let me start by saying that attendance is a MUST. If you don't attend the lectures you will FAIL. I disliked how eccentric he was at it was a common distraction. I found him to be venturing off on tangents more than needed. His tests were VERY hard even after reading and taking notes. All tests were curved which means the teacher knows its hard.
This is my second time taking Prof. Robinsons class and his lectures are amazing as always. He is very passionate and welcoming of student voices. My ONLY critique about this class structure was the TA grading system. It seemed like they were taking away points just so they dont pass out too many As. Feedback was not given even after emailing.
There are only 4 things that make up your grade. 3 test and 10 quizzes. The class is pretty straight forward but that's not the problem. The professor is rude and whenever you email him he makes you sound stupid and rarely actually provides help. He spends a lot of time telling stories during class that have no educational value. Don't take
Prof. Robinson is a very educated man with a Ph.D. His exams are pretty easy if you study for them at-least 2 hours a day. I enjoy his exam structures, where it's not all multiple choice. But, actually have fill-in blanks and essays. It made me understand and interested in Economics. I got an A+ and would take him if he taught Accounting classes.
Yeah I took Robinson last semester, Fall, and I would say first time taking an ECON class this class may not be for you. He "lectures," as in he talks from the slides and slowly drifts away into story land. If you attend all the Volleyball games, you get extra credit. Whenever I tried talked to him after class, it was always awk.
he has his own book that honestly explains the materials in such an easy and understandable way, and its a pretty slim book too. He grades by 10 quizzes and 3 tests. he can get off track pretty easily but he's really passionate when teaching and wants you to truly learn and not just pass. hes a solid professor to me but I've heard complaints too.
Took him for him math econ. He's a little weird, doesn't exactly answer your questions, and his lectures are strange. However, if you simply do what he tells you to do such as all the practice problems, read the book, and go to lectures, I don't see how you should get any grade lower than a B. Class is a lot of work, but not too hard.
Had him for H203 last spring. Really is a hilarious and quirky lecturer. The context is complex but he was always willing to answer questions and clarify, also offered extra credit! The textbook is a great resource (written by him), very simple and easy read. The subject can be complex for many but solid and great professor! Would take again.
most people hated this class because of how much time you NEED to put in to get a good grade. I think it was especially difficult since it was online. Prof. Robinson gives us all the resources we need to succeed but pretty much leaves it up to us to do the learning. he's such a funny guy and you can tell he cares for his students.
DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER. At the time of this post, it is 2020 Fall Semester. You have to read the book, that he made. There are a total of 3 test and 12 quizzes. The test has material that is not even on the material that you are supposed to learn. There are tons of videos, over one hour each.
I have never had a professor be so passive aggressive and act like students are supposed to know the material without any confusion. I took this class online and he was absolutely no help when I would ask a questions about a topic we were learning. Never taking a class of his again. By far the worst professor i have ever had. Not nice at all.
Great professors and class if interested in Economics or not. He made the class very engaging.
This professor was very passive-aggressive, and a very difficult teacher to handle, course work is manageable if you put in the work and effort. There are 3 exams, though he writes his own exams and throws in a bunch of random questions. But on the bright side, he offers extra credit.
Professor Robinson was one of the most passive aggressive professors I have met. His exams were very difficult because he writes his own questions. His lectures are very obnoxious and needs to fix the audio settings. Luckily he gave lots of extra credit to boost up the grades.
There weren't many assignments for this class, however you do need to do a lot of reviewing and studying to pass. Video lectures and a textbook by him. There are only tests and quizzes. The tests were a big part of your grade and a lot of them had questions that weren't in the textbook or the videos even if you reviewed everything.
Worst teacher ever! Class consist of 3 test and one final and 10 quizzes. He wrote his book and post his lectures. I spent over 3 hours a day on this class and still got A D on every exam. The test will have questions you never learned about on it like the wizard of oz which I have never watched. When you ask for help he refuses it.
Not good.
Tests for things not in book or PowerPoint, just stuff he said verbally. Why am I required to know that? What am I supposed to write in my notes? Extremely rude if you ask for leniency in grading. Inflexible. People don't often pass. UNLV knows it too. "Study guides" insufficient for preparation. Too many videos. Tests are too hard. NEVER AGAIN.
This professor is the worst. Tests do not reflect what is taught in the book. Half the questions are based on side remarks he says rather than facts from the text. This past final exam had random questions about stocks, the CARE Act, and finance. I have never taken a class where the exams barely reflect the text it is taught out of.
Dude's about as obnoxious as they come. He posted these videos we were supposed to watch. And he has this little crappy textbook and I do mean crappy. It looks like 3rd grader wrote it: typos, information didn't match, key terms couldn't be found because he took it out. Tests are at least 50% based on his remarks in lecture. Dude sucks.
He tells you not to write down what's on his slides because "Kids these days need to stop paying so much attention to screens" and then tests us on the slides he told us not to take notes on. Then he's completely surprised that we do so bad on the tests and blames every possible culprit other than himself. Just don't take him.
Added class last minute and only professor available and now I understand why. You can read the txtbook and view the lecture video countless times, but the exams are pulled out of his -. At least the quizzes are easy. Would recommend another professor if there is one
Worst professor ever. I dont even know how he got a teaching job he sucks at it. The book he wrote is terrible and is used as the text for the class. Tests dont reflect what is taught. Read the books and viewed the videos countless times but that wont be enough. He probably enjoys watching people fail. Complains like an old person would.
I want to start off by saying if this is your ONLY option for ECON 103 youll be okay as long as you put in time & effort. You have to buy his book.. read it. Kahn academy helps. when watching lectures you HAVE to pay attention to what he says. you will not find useful test prep in the book. His questions literally are things he says in lecture.
This course was very lecture heavy. For the quizzes, many of his questions are small things that he mentions in lectures that you don't think would matter on a test. It's definitely more history class than I would have appreciated. Attend the lectures, read the book, and take notes and you should be all right.
Don't take this professor if you have another OPTION! you have to take 12 quizzes, 12 discussion boars and 4 main exams, you can't use another resource - each exam lasts 75 minutes and has 50 questions! DO NOT TAKE IT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WORKING!
Sufficient lectures in person. Lots of stories and jokes but they usually apply to what hes saying so it was easy to rmr topics for me. Quizzes open for a week and you can collaborate. Various outdated and stereotypical older generational sentiment towards young people (phones, music, etc.) but kinda funny. Always gives study guides and answers.
Own textbook for macro with some formatting issues but its okay. the book is very foundational to this class. Good lectures w minimal text and more story/example based information (just write things he says). Quizzes opened for entire week and ur able to collab. Provides study guides and answers before exams. Not too hard just do it.
Great professor but is very lecture heavy. You'll need the textbook for practice and random details. If you try, you'll do well! I got an A by attending the lectures and doing all the practice quizzes. He's an intense lecturer (bursts of loud words) but I found. everything pretty interesting. Good luck!
Only web class that was available. Exams: Few questions are from future readings. Some exam questions makes u go "???" Class grades: Only A/B/C/D/F. 90% A. 89.9%? B. B is 80%-89.9%. No B+/B- etc.... You just get flat grade. I have exactly 90% rn...His exams are like casino so... Im not betting on keeping that A. Dont join this circus ha!
Professor Robinson is a funny guy and try to make his lecture engaging. He has his own book, I recommend to read it then listen to the lecture. The test are somewhat hard and the questions is mostly from the book. He gives out extra credit if you go to the tennis game at UNLV.
I liked him. His lecture videos were always fun. He has his own book, and I recommend reading that and practicing those questions. Those are what you'll be tested on, he doesn't go through things thoroughly in his videos. The grade you get is basically how much effort you put into the class. So definitely dedicate time or you'll fall behind fast.
Professor Robinson was very entertaining, he kept me engaged in a lot of politically diverse topics, and had me talking about economics to my friends and family. I expected very little from this class, but got a lot of information about economics that will help me in my life. Be aware that he will test you on remarks that you wouldn't expect.
Prof. Robinson's lecture videos are decent, although they can be pretty long. There's plenty of extra credit opportunities. As for exams, note that Respondus Lockdown is required (doesn't use camera or mic though). The class isn't as bad as people say. The vids, Quizlets, and Khan Academy videos are very helpful. (Grade rounded to an A at the end)
This class is heavy on taking good notes, and if you miss a class you're not going to get an A on the test for that module unless you copy someone's notes. This was hard for me because I had skipped a lot of classes. Regardless you're going to need to study your notes for a couple hours before each test because its intricate and lots of notes.
People who take this class either make it out with a B, or fail with an F. No in between. His teaching style is giving extremely vague notes and connecting movies, cars, etc to economics. Pay close attention to what he is saying because little fun facts about American history will be on the exams. Go to outside tutoring for better teaching.
Hard class overall. I took mine purely through online learning and it was incredibly difficult. The class has harder concepts to grasp, and the exams can range from vague to quite specific references within his lectures. Just be ready to work hard if you want his class, not in person. I would imagine in person is better.
This man gives amazing lectures, assignments are easy, and workload is light. Only complaint is that exams had a tendancy to not line up with what was taught in class and some questions were too specific for students to ever get right.
His exams were extremely rigorous to pass so please make sure you view his videos - some of the questions were based off them, the quizzes/discussion posts are manageable but take the time to study the material! I also disliked the textbook ($10) you can buy due to its format. His videos are great but I felt like they were too long.
He rambles a lot during lectures about unrelated topics and I wasn't sure what I should or shouldn't be taking notes on. Quizzes and discussions were easy enough but his exams have so many obscure details that I usually felt unprepared going into them. I probably would have gotten a lower grade if I didn't go for extra credit.
One of those older guys who has no filter, probably bc of tenure, so his lectures/announcements can be very funny. Solid class - WATCH THE VIDEOS AND TAKE NOTES for the exams, don't just use as supplemental material. He's good at explaining basic concepts in macroeconomics. If you put the effort in you can expect at least a high B.
I really enjoyed his class. He is incredibly charismatic and speaks his mind with a refreshing honesty that is hard to find. Despite the naturally difficult exams, he provides numerous opportunities for extra credit which is greatly appreciated. Overall, I highly recommend taking his classes.
take this class with a different professors. Im taking his online class and he never responds to emails and his so called book has nothing to the exams. The question on the exams are just the most random questions. you only get 75 mins on a 50 question exam. save yourself the trouble ok . also extra credit is going to a sport game and find him.
His tests were the hardest tests I've ever taken. You have to pay extra close attention to his lectures to pass this class. His lectures can be funny but he can be a bit loud sometimes. He also never responds to emails.
Professor Robinson's ECON103 class is intense but rewarding. The lectures can be long, but engaging if you stay focused. The exams cover a lot of material, so using the textbook, lecture notes, and resources like unstuckstudy AI are key to doing well. If you put in the effort, you can expect a solid grade.
He looks like Hank from Breaking Bad and it throws me off. Took it for gen ed, but he is very lecture heavy. If you miss a lecture, you will fall behind. He plays random audio clips during his slides that are way too loud. Tests were not so bad, as long as you take notes and show up, you should be solid.
Discussion posts and quizzes make up the majority of the work. He provides interesting and funny lecture videos, text, and practice questions for the quizzes and tests. The tests are through a lockdown browser and he offers a bunch of extra credit
One of the best web-based class I've taken. You can tell he enjoys the material he teaches. There is basically no "homework" just readings, videos, discussion posts and quizzes/tests. SUPER easy class if you just do your stuff on time. I also love that he gives us updates of our current economy and not just teaching us about economy.
Very fair professor, and provides students with all the resources necessary to do well in the class. The first half of the course is review, I would advice students to watch the Professor's videos for the second half, as I had tried to strictly learn from the textbook and it was not enough. Graded by 4 exams, professor is fair with grading.
Lectures were often low quality and sometimes presented wrong info. When discussing liability law, he cites the McDonalds coffee case as an example of frivolous lawsuits despite the fact McDonalds had a massive media campaign against the burn victim after her body parts were fused together. Quiz questions were arcane like Wizard of Oz analogies
My favorite teacher this semester. His lectures were always a joy to watch and were often time funny as well. Despite this he was still able to get the information over clearly and made this class easy to learn the subject. Tests aren't to hard and assignments are very manageable.
