class is boring, prof. uses overhead the whole semester, needs new style.
no personality, but trys to be funny, boring lectures, not too bad difficultests
Tests are nothing like the lectures/material covered in class isn't usually on t
take good notes and you'll do fine
get em to do his
The notes are the same every semester so find someone who's had him already!
I have had him for 4 classes now. He is difficult, but fair. Ask questions!!!
funny guy if you get his humor, you have to know your stuff...ASK QUESTIONS!!!!
This guy is so much fun, he's really smart too
I'd rather cut myself with a dull butter knife than sit a class of his.
looks like steve on blues clues...maybe thats where he gets that quirkiness from
Takw him if you are going to grad school and need stats. Teaches the stuff well
Boring and thinks he is funny! Math nerd. Can't explain anything, hard tests.
Very hard if you have a hard time with stats. he focuses of stats A LOT!!!!!!
His ways of teaching things actually make me loose knowledge.
learned a lot but tough class, go to class! turn projects in!
I want to marry him, oh yeah he a pretty good prof too
Great teacher, really loves his subject. He was Psych prof of the year!
Hardest prof at GV. You can understand everything and still FAIL!!
explains everything very well, weird funny, will help in any way possible
Very helpful, goes over material until it's stuck in your head, very good prof
Good prof but have to work your butt off!!!
Horribly not funny, too smart for his own good, not meant to be a teacher
Hilarious. A cool guy. Explains things very well, i'm just dumb.
he's the funniest person i know!! class was easy as hell
not at all funny but thinks he is. goes over material until it's drilled in.
teaches mathmatically and then tests on it contextually...hard to understand!
hard class, but his weird humor and cuteness help
teaches LOGIC AND numbers--excellent. U get pletny of chances at an A
Gives many opportunities for a good grade
lots of work, but learned a lot
an absolute must over henderson king!!!took them both&it was like night&day
Good teacher--class is fun and not too hard
Trust me, you will see his stats stuff in grad school. You will be prepared well!
He is willing to help and actually cares that you understand the material.
I had him for three classes and I am not disappointed. He's a great prof!
Great guy, if you understand statistics then you'll understand him
hard class but makes 400 easier and hes cute
exciting lectures and easy to understand
Great Prof!! His tests and quizes aren't too bad if you just follow his notes, he doesn't like going by the book!! VERY FUNNY!!
Class is not too hard and he is very good with students. Don't worry about book, read notes. Cool class for gen ed.
fun class, dark sense of humor, sexy
great guy. really tries to make it connect with our lives. test and quizes arent' that bad if you go to class and follow notes. don't buy book you don't need it
fun class
Very smart guy. Class isn't the easiest but his lectures and tests can be funny. I thought he'd be a jerk but turned out one of the kindest Psy profs I've had. The only prof I know who likes OLD Metallica!
Stats and math are hard for me but he actually made it fun. His lectures were hilarious and his exams even made me laugh. 400 is easy when you have him for 300. Get in his class if you can.
Crazy sense of humor made class fun, and he is WAY hot!!!!!
Take his class!!! Hes really easy. If you dont understand something he will stop and go through it until you do. It was still a hard course, but hes an easy prof! Hes GREAT!!!!!!
hate the class but love the guy
Ok- I definately wouldn't say he is hot! But anyways- he is a nice guy, willing to help you out, and tries to make you laugh during class. Loves Nicole Kidman... Don't have to read.
Ok...the prof forgot about the final exam. He had a student give us the exam but other than that he is a great prof. You should take him.
My favorite class this semester. I can't believe he gave out his cell # at the final exam! I heard his 400 is easier than his 300, so try to get in his class.
You learn a lot in his class and he keeps it interesting. His test are kind of hard but the projects are easy. I would definately recommend taking him. He is very helpful and understanding. He really wants students to do well.
This class was horrible. I had a horrible 300 prof. (Ray O'Connor) so this class was no cake walk. He is an allright guy, makes jokes.
You need to take his 300 class to do well in his 400 class. He is a good prof. explains difficult stuff well.
Manages to make multivariate statistics somewhat interesting. Even if you hate the material and the project, his personality and teaching style make up for it.
Hot hot hot! The man finally cut his hair! Hilarious in 300, but sometimes got in off-topic talk with students. Exams aren't too bad, and he teaches the hard math really well. His laid back personality helps a lot. 400 this semester should be fun.
Smart, funny, and a nice guy. He doesn't talk down to students like a lot of profs here. And yes, the long hair had to go!
Probably the easiest 400 teacher. He is sooo funny and nice. Makes a boring class fun. Read the book and tests are easy.
This class was much easier than I had expected. He explains things well. The exams are easy, projects are easy. As long as you attend class, you should get a good grade. Don't buy the book because you won't use it at all!
Class is hard, but he really knows this stuff and explains it better than the book. Nice eye candy for three hours, too!
Watch out! He is a VERRRY charming man but his class is impossible! This is grad level stats and I was lucky to hang on for a C. I didn't understand most of what he said and was too busy watching him say it. :) Those who had him for 300 said it was much easier if you were used to him from that class. Project was easy but exams were killer!!
The content of the class sucks, but he rocks! Also, he is hot in a funny kinda way. Don't buy the book, it was a waste of money
This class was the worst class I have ever taken. Professor Rogers makes class fun, but his tests are killers. If you want a good grade, take someone else. If you want to laugh in class-take him.
Don't take advanced research methods with any other professor. He's funny and makes classes interesting. It was both my hardest class and my favorite, if that tells you anything. He's the easiest psy 400 teacher there is at GVSU from what i've heard from people in other classes. Look him up on facebook!
Best professor I've ever had! He's hilarious! His class is tough, but he makes it enjoyable and is very willing to help outside of class. Project is pretty easy, but tests can be difficult. The book isn't worth buying. Take him!

Really nice guy. Even though this is math, he tries to make it understandable, and he's willing to help you if you have problems. He's really nice, and he treats the students with respect.
This class was much different from what I thought, lots of theory and math. VERY funny guy at times, which was appreciated with this material.

As previously stated by many, he is FUNNY. Humor is needed in this sort of painful class. If your ever confused hand him a Pepsi, wait five minutes and ask your question. You'll be amazed at his intelligence.... once he is awake. (Word to the wise, you may also want to grab yourself a Pepsi, you have to pay attention in this class.)
This class is very very difficult. I was used to being an A-student and this ruined it. He's a very nice guy and very helpful, but there's just almost too much stuff to learn, and the final is cumulative, so it takes a lot of studying. He is flexible with due dates. Be careful who you pick as partner for the class project.
This was by far the most difficult PSY course Ive ever taken, but I guess I learned a lot. The cumulative final was brutal. Hes funny and kinda cute so its easy to pay attention to him, but I just wish I took him for 300 or 400 instead.
The course is taught on the conceptual proof of statistics used in psychological research. There are 2 projects in which you losely connect the statistical concepts to psychological research, 3 exams (he sents the mean at 75) and a final cumulative. He does give extra credit and it's impossible to not get full credit on both projects.
Prof. Rogers is a must for PSY 300! He is funny and laid back, which makes this otherwise intolerable class fun. His projects are designed so that its almost impossible not to get 100%, and his exams are relatively simple if you understand the presented concepts.
If you had a good STA215 prof, you're ahead of the game already if you take Rogers. Class is broken up into 4 modules, the middle 2 being the toughest. 4 exams and 2 projects comprise the grade; the projects are guaranteed 100%s with the chance to submit corrections if needed. Very extroverted prof, made lecture fun, but this class is rigorous.
He is a funny prof but very very hard! His test do not relate to what you learned in class. The two projects that you do are also very hard and don't help you for the test. Good luck!
This class is not bad if you pay attention to him, which isn't hard at all because his personality is amazing. Some girls in our class thought he was too cocky, but it didn't bother me. Get him to tell funny stories when you can. Exams were weird but he gave a lot of points back in my class. He should get a haircut, he'd be much cuter!
Psych 400 is MUCH better (easier) than his Psych 300 course. There isn't a book, just lectures and the project was fun and insightful. I'll miss ya doc.
The main focus of his 300 class is statistics, tests are kinda hard but the projects are easy (once you figure out what you're doing)I would recommend him and am planning on taking him for 400.
if you don't want to hate your life, do not take this class.
He was willing to go at the pace the class needs to be. The tests were a little difficult but he is willing to look at and eliminate bad questions. He focuses a lot on theory. Overall not a bad prof at all if you have to take this class I would recommend him.
Ok, this is a hard class no matter what teacher you take, unless you're great with statistics. Prof. Rogers makes this class bearable with his sense of humor. The tests are all pretty difficult - the average for each test was about 70. There are 2 projects which take a while to do but you're allowed to re-do them so that helps a lot.
I hate stats, but he made the subject ok. The exams were hard, but the projects were easy. Go to his office hours they help. He is a really funny and nice guy. I would recommend taking him.
Unequivocally the best research methods professor. The 1.5 hour class periods flew by; probably due to the fact that the instructor was quite entertaining, the material notwithstanding. Gives extra credit opportunities, adjust exams, and bumps grades. Any reasonable person should be able to pull at least a B.
No textbook, kind of off the wall at times in class. for a boring subject, he makes it as entertaining as it can be. tests are on the hard side, but he always adjusts the scores.
Of all the psych professors I had a GVSU, I thought he was the best one. I am getting an MBA this semester from GVSU and a lot of the stuff he taught showed up in the business courses as well. If you want to go to grad school you want this professor.
Rogers is a great prof to take for psych 400 or 410. He is the probably the most laid back prof in psych and is very funny. Bad questions on exams are not counted, making them a lot easier and more fair. There is a group project, but it wasn't too bad. I definetly recommend him for 400 and 410. And he's kinda cute for a math nerd. :)
If you have to take Psy 400, this is the man you want to take it with! Excellent professor!!
What I heard from my friends was pretty spot on. He is a funny and nice guy, drinks a lot of pepsi, and wears a pair of jeans nicely haha. He tries to keep it light in class, which really helped me learn the stats. If most of the class gets a question wrong, he will drop it. If you didnt have a good 300 teacher, I highly recommend Rogers.
best.prof.evar.
THIS MAN SAVED MY GRADUATION!!!! I got D on the first two exams but will probably now get a B+ in the class!! Show him that you want to do well in his class and work your tail off, and he will take care of you. Trust me on this one. Best prof ever is right. THANK YOU for everything!!!! Everyone should take Rogers for 400!!
It's a hard class but Rogers is so cool. He is such a nerd and loves his subject. I highly recommend him. He's funny too. 5 tests, a project (a lot of points and pretty easy), a paper, and extra credit.I think he's the best to get for 400. My group and I chatted with him for 30 minutes just on random things. He loves tanks too. :-D
I think its hilarios he signed his emails WMR when his name only has one more letter. He's sooo easy. Oh, and so is his class! Hahah, I think he will like that joke. Take any class he teaches, and if you hang out with him, prepare for some very funny rambling. Thanks for the awesome semester, mistahhh! ;)
Fun class, much better than I expected.
WMR's a good guy. Unless you bomb the paper, this is an easy class. Plenty of ways to get points. I got C on the first exam and still got an A. I will be taking him for 400 next Fall. Definetly sit in the front row if you can!
Extremly smart, helpful, and a wonderful teacher! Take this class if you have to take PSY 400!
Awesome guy. Very passionate about the topics. Humor thrown into every conversation, making a boring topic somewhat fun. Tests can be hard but he throws out bad questions. Very laid back, easy to talk to. Likes to ramble. :-) One of the best professors I have ever had at GV!! Highly recommend!
Fantastic Prof. Puts the class at ease and explains things very well. I hated this topic and because of the way he curves tests, lets you throw one out, and the way he explains things, I should do very well in the class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Excellent professor. You can't get around taking the class- he's the best one to take it with. He's fun, charming, very clear in explaining things (gives lots of analogies and examples). Encourages outside of class help and convo. Engages students and makes the course material interesting and clear. Fantastic prof/ great guy
Real nice guy. Tests I thought were extremely difficult, but that's what I thought about PSY 300 as well. You have 5 exams but the 5th is only if you need it. Final paper is with a group and It's not that bad.
Professor Rogers can rotate my factor analysis any time he wants. ^_^ The math really isn't so bad if you pay attention. It ended up being my favorite class, very good man to take for research methods. make sure you get in a good group!
This dude is a blast! He asked a girl in the hallway outside our class if she thought math was boring. When she said yeah he said he was breaking up with her! It was a riot! You never know what he is going to do, which keeps your attention through really boring stuff.
You won't be interested in this junk, but he is more interesting than the class anyway. And we have to take it, so I'd recommend Rogers.
Rogers is a good prof, mister charm and personality and all that stuff. Makes methods a decent course I guess. His groupies can be annoying, though.
Okay, let's face it. Research Methods STINKS! But Prof. Rogers explains everything clearly and makes class fun! Recommended!
Easy to get a good grade if you take ALL the exams. He drops the lowest and the final is cake. His lectures and emails certainly keep things interesting. I enjoyed him and recommend the class.
not easy, but great class for a 400. i'm taking IO psych with him this term. lol he is like the biggest player though which is funny for a prof!
Really fun guy and class. He seems to love stats and tries to get the class having fun with it, too. Recommended for 400!
If you're Grad school bound and might actually need to use the material taught in 400, take a different prof.
Well I can't say I enjoyed the class, but I feel that he's a fun guy who made it tolerable and sometimes interesting. The exam on factor analysis was super hard, but it ended up being my lowest which was dropped.
I took him for this class because I liked him in 400 and the topic sounded interesting. Some of the things covered were interesting but others were incredibly boring. If you are a Rogers fan, just take the class. If you are interested in IO psychology, it would probably be good too.
I had heard good things about Rogers and he delivered on all of them. I would take other classes from him and am recommending 400 to my friends. Take him if you can!
Rogers is an extra heaping scoop of fun. There's something very attractive about him that's hard to put into words, just really appealing on a personal level and fun to be around. It made listening to stats lectures a lot more tolerable!
The legend! Great teacher and a lot of fun to talk to. I talked to him for three hours in his office about science, math and Russian movies of all things. In class he stopped and talked to people in the hallways about random things, and trolled the annoying class next door to ours. LOL! One of my favorite profs I cant believe he only teaches 400!
I took him for I/O psych 445 and Methods 400 and enjoyed both courses. Like others said, Dr. Rogers was silly in 400 at times, but his attitude really made that class fun. In 445, he was more serious and told a lot of real world consulting stories. Quite a character, and really nice guy, too.
Great professor! Smart, funny, and kind of a cutie. He is a quantitative psychologist, so teaches stats a lot better than my 215 and 300 profs did. Just make sure that you get a good group partner for the project. Oh, and I really, really, really liked his jeans for some reason. o_O
I didn't know much about this topic but it was pretty interesting. He seems like a good dude and told some funny stories from real companies.
Wonderful humor and personality. His emails are hilarious! The difficulty was all over the place though, and depends I think on who you had for 300. Some parts were really easy like ANOVA and others like obleque factor rotation (huh?) and time series are like Phd level stuff if you google them. But I learned a lot, I guess and had a little fun.
This class will challenge you, but hes fair. Smart, funny, and flirty sums it up for me. Likes to talk about random off the wall stuff like movies and tanks, which was awesome.
definitely the guy to take for 400 if you can. never thought id look forward to coming to a stat class. loved the drawing of the USA, what an artist! lol
I loved this class. I even decided to take I/O Psych so I could have another class with him before I graduate. Go to class, it helps a ton. I didn't buy a book and didn't miss it. Study for exams. "Group" project is not terrible. There was a presentation for it as well.
I-side stuff is definitely what his focus is, but he still does a good job clarifying O-side. Really funny guy, great to talk to during office hours. Exams are multiple choice and pretty easy. Two projects seem like they're asking a lot, but he assigns them at the beginning of the semester and they aren't due until the end. Take this professor.
