Dr. Rowe is AMAZING...one of the best teachers you will ever have...he genuinly cares that you learn something...listen in class and just look over your notes for quizzes and you should be fine

Excellent teacher! He lets his classes go outside in the spring and then he teaches with a funny hat on. Take him spring semester, he's awesome!!

Nice guy. Take notes and study from them and you won't have to read. Be sure to use his own words in your answers on the quizzes. Oh and he only gives quizzes not tests and your final is a paper.

Take this class. Dr. Rowe is probably the best teacher I've ever had. Very humorous and open-minded. Teaches outside with a wig on if you take him in the spring

Very nice man. Class is not very hard, but you learn a lot. Gives 5 or so quizzes and a final paper on why you should take phil. Take a lot of notes and review them, so you'll only have to skim the readings. Interesting lectures -lots of fun analogies

Definately a great teacher, deserved teacher of the year award. Doesn't matter what you take him for, just take him, he's that good. It's impossible not to do well if you try in his classes, and if you still fail, just die.

Prof. Rowe is an Excellent Teacher. He is very very enthusiastic and if you pay attention at all and listen to what he's saying you will do well on the quizzes and you might actually find you're interested in philosophy!

This professor makes any class interesting. He could lecture about interest rates and market fluctuations and keep you absorbed for hours. He is passionate about philosophy, and if you want to learn a lot, and enjoy class TAKE HIM

I have him for SJLA End of Philosophy. I wish I had had him earlier, b/c he's AMAZING! My pen never stops moving in class. In fact, my roommate & I take turns writing notes, b/c we don't want to pull our attention away from the lecture. Makes class fun, easy to understand, yet challenging

Best teacher I have had so far at the U. Explains everything wonderfully. Couldn't be nicer, and gladly offers any help that he can. Although if you listen and take notes, you probably won't need anything else. Class isn't particularily hard, but you learn so much. He is a MUST TAKE.

Best teacher that I have had so far at the University.. His lectures are interesting b/c he really gets into them and always makes sure you are understanding what he is talking about. Quizzes are not bad. Definitely take him if you have the chance!! He's the nicest and most caring teacher there is

Plain and simple, I adore this man! He's probably one of the best professors I've ever had at the University, and definitely the best in philosophy (which is saying a lot, since I think most of the philosophy profs are great)!! He's fair and understanding, and makes it so interesting!! DO NOT LEAVE SCRANTON WITHOUT TAKING A CLASS WITH DR. ROWE!!!!

Dr. Rowe is awesome! He's the happiest man ever and walks into class everyday and says, "Hello Friends!" He's a great teacher and very fair-- final is easy--a take home paper, and quizzes are easy as well. he's great :)

This man made me absolutely love philosophy and his class. His quizzes are simple if you take notes and pay attention. he only lectures but its fun and entertaining. and when its nice, youll have class outside and we'll wear his cool safari hat. final is a take home paper. sooo simple...a true friend and lover of wisdom

Dr. Rowe is GREAT! Quite a bit of reading but his quizzes are very straightforward and pretty simple and his class is very open to opinion...however, he does tend to go off on tangents and it's not hard to get him off the subject. Other than that, he's really worth taking and really makes you like philosophy...take him if you get the chance.

Ethics, SJLA style, is not very fun at all. Rowe makes it more complex than it really is and his reliance on the damn texts makes you not want to go to class, quizzes and tests are rather straightforward though. Take if you like to read a lot of philosophy.

Amazing teacher. Really great at what he does. Tests and quizzes are very straigth forward and relate exactly to what is being read/ discussed in class. Lectures are pretty interesting. Also very fun and like another rater said, always happy! Even took us outside when the weather was nice! I miss his class. Definately take him!

easily my favorite professor at the U so far.. the onli work for the class is 4-5 quizzes w/ 6 easy t or f and 2 brief essays which u will be able to do as long as u have a pulse in the class.. he loves what he does n he even took us outside when it was warm out n wore a crazy safari hat..its just hard registering for his class cuz it fills fast

Dr. Rowe is one of the finest instructors I have ever met. He welcomes any questions you may have. If you do not agree with him and can back up logically why he will accept that. If you do the assigned homework when you are supposed to his class will be easy for you. Your grade will be adirect reflection of how much effort you put into the class.

Best professor I ever had at the U. Be sure to take him. The subject matter is not the easiest, but he teaches with such enthusiasm and passion, that you are genuinely interested in learning.

Exceptional teacher and mentor who is highly intellectual, with the ability to integrate many facets of Philosophy as well as spirituality into each of his courses. Also a very motivated speaker with the intent to bring you into an innate understanding of the coursework given. A truly inspiring person. I would take ANY course offered by him!

Dr. Rowe is awesome. He makes class interesting everyday. He changes the levels in his voice a lot to keep you paying attention. Just listen during lecture and you will do fine.

Great teacher. Could go off on tangents forever, but he emphasizes what's important, either in his voice or by writing on the board. Did online quizzes, meaning they were open book, so just be sure you take decent notes. Final paper is extremely easy - seems as though everyone got a 100.

Dr. Rowe is the most amazing man I've ever met. He explains things multiple times and often digresses, but he's extremely intelligent and can hold a conversation about anything. Quizzes are online and fairly easy. The final was a simple essay. I'm going to take Dr. Rowe for another philosophy class in the future.

Rowe was by far the best teacher i have ever had, including high school. He is funny, really smart, and he kinda looks like ben franklin which was sweet. My favorite part was his enthusiasm in what he is teaching about. You can tell he is having a lot of fun which, if you allow it, will inevitably make you enjoy the class. TAKE HIM!!!!!

Best teacher I've ever had. The absolute man. Long, luscious locks and cowboy hats ;] 4 do at home online quizzes, and a final paper that I'm pretty sure everyone got a 100 on. If you don't take Rowe, you're a fool.

Definately the best philosophy teacher at the University of Scranton. TAKE HIM! He is extremely helpful and always willing to help. I took the online course this summer and it was the best decision I ever made.

Rowe is the man. You can tell he loves his job. And I didn't meet one person who doesn't like him. He's seriously fantastic, and extremely smart. You won't regret taking him!

Dr. Rowe is one of the most interesting and intelligent people you will ever meet...some of his lectures were way over my head but it was still interesting. Only outside work is 4 easy online quizzes and a final paper. His grading scale is really picky, though (96%=A-)

The most boring man in Scranton. His grading system is a bit outrageous and you won't learn much in his class. You can sleep entire classes and he wont notice. Terrible teacher

This man... This man is brilliant. I'd take classes with him every semester if I could. While you may have to attend almost every class to succeed, it's worth it. He loves his job, his students, and truly makes an effort to get to know them. He brought his dog to class one day. Yep... One of my favorite people I've ever come into contact with.

I've taken Rowe for two upper level courses and am signed up for a third. His classes are phenomenal and discussion based and he has been a wonderful mentor outside the classroom. Probably the easiest grader in the department, whoeverer said his grading is "outrageous" has obviously never taken any other Philosphy classes.

The summer online section is an excellent way to fill the introduction to philosophy requirement without doing much work or taking up valuable time during the semester. The work is very minimal, only weekly quizzes and a final paper. Even if you hate philosophy with a passion, you can just do the minimum (probably less) and still get by easily.

Where can I start? Number one the guy's a genius and number two he's the man. He has inspired me so much and I adored coming to his class every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It was a relatively easy course nevertheless if you want to learn, be influenced, and chuckle Professor Rowe is your man.

Rowe is VERY easy, so take him for this reason alone. Weekly quizzes that require no effort and one term paper at the end. There is no need to read the books. But, Rowe gets very boring during class (2.5 hrs during the summer), and the lectures really don't make too much sense. So, take him for an easy A, but don't expect anything out of it.

Such an easy A. Just show up to class and listen, take some notes. Even if you skip a bit, he repeats everything 20 times. 3 quizzes online, that's it. No final. So easy.

Looks like Benjamin Franklin! It's great! His way of teaching makes the material easy to absorb. While the class is rather easy, you can get so much more out of it than just a grade, so pay attention for your own sake. He wants you to think, but will never beat you into submission trying to force you to pretend that you care. Truly cares about us.

Dr. Rowe was a really easy choice for intro to philosophy. All you have to do is take notes on what he says. There are four online quizzes and a final paper, but all of them are very straightforward. Kind of boring, but he does try and make it interesting.

Dr. Rowe is a great professor. Incredibly friendly and intelligent man. 4 online quizzes and a final essay. Adequate notes in class will result in a good quiz grade. Definitely take him.

Dr. Rowe was by far the best professor ive had so far. He is so intelligent but keeps his lectures light-hearted and always has a funny anecdote to add. 4 online quizzes throughout the semester and a final paper. I even missed a few classes ( 3 unexcused absences allowed) and passed each quiz super easily. Take him if you can!!!!!

You can either pay attention in class or read the lecture summaries which he always posts. Quizzes are online and you have about two hours to do about five multiple choice questions and one or two long answers. Super easy, and pretty interesting.

Dr. Rowe is one of the most caring and passionate individuals I have ever met. He cares about his profession and his students in ways that don't seem possible. I wish I could take him every semester. Dr. Rowe's lectures positively changed how I see the world and how I interact with others. This man deserves everything the world has to offer.

I love prof rowe. He is such a nice guy and really cares about his students. He starts every class with "hello friends!" We only have one grade in so far and that's basically what our midterm grade is. Lots of talking so you have to be a decent note taker

Honestly if you're looking for an easy A this is def the class to take. Only 3 quizzes and a final which are all super easy as he posts his notes online. If you want to take it for something interesting then I suggest finding someone else, his lectures actually made me fall asleep SO monotone.

Dr. Rowe truly cares about his students, and he is willing to help in whatever way he can. Notes are strongly advised because his class is so lecture heavy. He tends to switch between topics and it's hard to completely understand if you're not the best at philosophy. He assigned a quiz during finals which sucked because we had a final paper too.

He is an exceptionally nice person, but that is offset by the amazingly boring lectures. It takes an hour or two at most to read the notes posted on line per philosopher we cover, but he will spend a month at least on them in class. I found myself not wanting to go to this class more than my more difficult classes simply because I was so bored.

Lecture is very slow at times. Feels like he talks about the same topic for a month straight. Make sure you write down everything he writes on the board and an A is doable. There are a few extra credit opportunities as well. Very nice guy who occasionally curses to wake the class up.
