It was the first time i've ever said Cool while doing math
The guy who said he's cool is right.but thats only true if you take him for superlow math.try taking higher like calc.the guy doesnt know ****.people usually onw show up for tests.lecture is waist of time.his board looks like a painting.very pretty.

I thought his class is boring because his explanations are not good. Some students attend only his class during the tests or quizes. The tests and quizes are easy because just read textbooks and do homework.
The man is like the Doug Henning of math. He has excellent insight into what the students are missing, then when you finally (if you do the work) get it; it's as if he pulled a rabbit out of a hat. I'm taking him again for math 100!
He is a nice teacher, but he doesn't know what he is teaching. very unclear, very lost!! and he only cares about the students who sit in the front row.
Even though I took a really easy course with him, it has always been my worst subject. He is the first teacher that has actually been able to get me to understand and like math. If he can teach me, he can teach anybody. I really enjoyed his class.

Teaches calculus just about as well any other professor can teach it. He collects HW, quizes are rather simple, but the test are a bit more challenging. Good teching habbits, but its calculus, its not an easy subject.
It's true, he doesn't know what he's doing. He spent 30 minutes doing 1 problem on the board only to get the problem wrong. The class was fairly easy, though, as far as Calculus goes.
He is a nice guy but his teaching method is horrible. He doesnt make any sense while he's teaching the course to the class. He doesn't really know what he's doing when he is up there in front of the chalkboard. He makes the problems seem more difficult
He can not teach if his life depends on it. He spends more time going over the homework than actually teaching. Basically you figure it out as you go along. His tests are fairly easy but YOU need to study for them you cant depend on his teaching.
He can't teach for****. Don't take his class. Test are hard. You go home and you don't know how to do the Homework. This guy has no heart when it comes to grading.becasue of him i fell behind in graduation from GCC. Thank you Professor
He cant teach for crap, dont ever take shamhart... esp for upper division math like calculus.
Mr. Shamhart is the worst math professor at GCC. He takes so much time on the homework and spends such little time on teaching the lesson. He doesn't really take problems from the book because I did all the homework and was lost on his tests. It takes him forever to answer one question.
GREAT Instructor - made it really easy to understand. Heavy review of homework helped to reinforce earlier lecture topic. Highly recommend.

MAth 112 is a hard class so no matter how easy the teacher is it isnt goin to be an easy A, but this teacher is really kool He is confused sometimes but funny Take him he is a really kool and easy teacher

i never stopped dreading going to class because of shamhart. it's not mean, just true to say that there are some people who just shouldn't be teaching.
Ok, here's the deal. Out of 30 people in the class not even 10 remain. This guy DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH, if you don't understand the book, you won't understand him, cause that's all he repeats, is the book. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS AT ALL. TAKE CARE GUYS, GOOD LUCK IF U TAKE THIS GUY BYE

Yes he is funny, and yes he seems sometimes confussed, and no I don't have an A in his class, but it is not due to his lack of teaching, he does take the time, and I have learned a lot. If he taught 146 next session I would take him again. Good guy, good teacher.
He is one of the best math's teacher in GCC. He explains very well and teaches perfect.
i took his class during the summer and it was great. he's sometimes funny and tought the material well. i would recommend him to anyone
Hey hes a great teacher ....maybe im jus sayin that cuz i got an A ...but its just the amount of effort n enthusiasm he tries to put in makin the class lively is worth a go.
he is one of the best math teachers. explains very well and is very helpful. if uve nvr understood math, this man will most definitly help. hes a pretty funny man too.

Shamhart is a chill teacher, hes smart and teaches well, He is a good teacher and overall pretty easy , just hw and tests with a few extra stuff pretty standard

Goes over personal homework questions before lecture. If you have no questions, many hours of your time will be utterly wasted. Hands back graded homework during tests so you don't know how well you officially grasp material until too late. Answers sufficient for full credit on homework are often not sufficient for full credit on tests.
I took this guy a couple of semesters ago and had to repeat the class. He is the worst teacher at GCC. He spends so much time answering homework questions when students can go get tutoring. He doesn't even explain well and enjoys students failing. When you ask a question in class he makes u feel stupid. DON'T TAKE HIM!
Shamhart is a really cool guy. Just focus and ask questions if you don't understand. He is there to help. Not recommended for winter/summer.
I got to admit...at first I didnt really like the class. Maybe because I was use to my other math instructor. But after a couple of weeks he proved that he was a good instructor. I def would recommend his class.
His lower math classes are easy like math 145 and math 119, but when it comes to college courses math he is a bad teacher like math 136 and math 100 and 102, he has no idea wat he is doing
He is a great teacher. he will describe as well as he can until you get the problem. if u read the book and do the homework yourself or at least learn the homework problems well from the solution book, you will at least get a B and probably get an A in his exams. continiuiong in the next rating.....
continue of the last rating..So the exams are not difficult at all.He is not picky in grading.Once i had written only the final answer for a long problem and he gave me the whole credit.He will actually give your credit for any small calculation u have done without getting the final answer. He is a very funny guy sometimes making you laugh.so nice

Mr. Shamhart is not only a great teacher, but he ia also a very good person. He truly cares about the students and tries to help as much as possible...He drops 1 of 3 tests and drops 1 of 4 quizzes and they are all fairly easy; however, the final is sort of hard and he does curve it. Overall he is a understanding and awesome teacher. Thanks Mr. S.

The professor is mean, a student have been already enrolled into the class, but she left for the break and decided to not come back, because she didn't hear her name called ther4 went to registrar, then he didn't want to add her anymore, it was very disappointing. Ton of assignments for winter session!
Just look at the pic. He is so coool! you have to read the book and do the homeword besides his teaching. if you do your part well you will get what you deserve!
Mr. Shamhart is sweet and nice professor. Sometimes he makes jokes not to let the class to get bored. It's math 103, of course it's hard, but reading the textbooks helps a looot. also he drops one of 5 tests and 1 of 3 quizes.
Shamhart Rules! I love you man! Take his class and put some effort. His class and system of grading is fair! He gives good partial credit. Remember you have to read the book too and do all the assigned homework problems well.

Mr. Shamhart is a very nice professor, I liked him a lot since tha first day. His tests are not very hard, he doesn't put tricky questions on the test, only the things we covered in the homework. He always makes the class fun, he makes jokes sometimes, he is a cool and very nice person.

I took Mr. Shamhart's night math 103 class in Fall/06. Nice memories. He is a very nice guy, always treating students with respect. The material on the tests only reflect the material that was taught in lecutures. He jokes around, so you will not get bored. However; people who do not want to put some effort in calculus will always nag about him.
Mr Shamhart is a great teacher.He always treats students with outmost respect.He keeps you busy with homework and lab projects, utilizes graphing calculator that helps students understand Calculus better.He is very knowledgeable but sometimes he falls short of explaining the subject by not allocating enough time for it. I would take him any time.

Professor Shamhart is one of the nicest men I have ever met. Having said that, I do not like his teaching method.He discusses the concepts very briefly and the rest is up to you. If you haven't had math for a while, I would not risk taking him.
This is one of the funniest teachers I have ever had. He loves to waste time on homework instead of teaching the new chapters, but he's just so damn weirdly hilarious, you can't help but love him! He's rushes through his lessons, but all you have to do is ask and he can explain ur question for 20 minutes. lol. Love that silly silly awesome man! :)
DONT take Mr. Shamhart for Statistics. He doesnt know how to teach. Gives 3 test & quizes,drops lowest one. 50% of passing class. Total waste of time. Even if you try & your not a good test taker, he will not pass you.
I suggest...if anyone wants to take math 136 with him, DON'T. Please, don't. He doesn't EXPLAIN anything. It's a hard class and he makes it even more difficult. UGH
I suggest if you want to do good in Math, don't take him. He's not a bad teacher...but he's not the best. You have 3 tests and 3 quizzes and he lets you drop the lowest quiz and lowest test.
He is the worst math teacher i have ever had...i had a 93% in 110 and i couldnt even keepup with this class and endedup having to get an F so i could retake it...worst teacher EVER

Not a bad professor. You do often have to read the chapters yourself in order to fully grasp the concepts because he rushed through lessons. However, he was always helpful if you didn't understand something. I would suggest taking him.
He is a good person but he is not a good instructor of Calculus. Sometimes his class is very noisy. His tests are pretty easy but his grading is very precise. Overall if your major is engineering or Math then take someone else but if you just need a couple of calculus specially for bio majors then he is a good choice.
ohhh wowww... thats all i can say... the besttttttttttttt teacher at GCC...you guys take his class.. hes reallllllllyyyy easy... his 56 percent was a C... Took math 103 with Mr. Shamhart in fall 2006. He is a very nice man, that will do his best to explain anything to you; however, you do have to read the chapters and be prepared. Overall, Very nice professor, tests are fair, and professor always tries to help.
I hated this class. He's a terrible teacher and he doesn't know how to teach. Prepare to learn on your own and get a C.

He's a really nice guy in character but what refers to teaching I wouldn't say he is the best but at least tries his best. This class is somehow challenging and you need to study on your own a lot so be prepared for hard work. By the way he's so dependent on using calculator which makes the life way more easier.
DON'T TAKE HIM FOR STATS. HE BASICALLY REGURGITATES WHAT THE BOOK SAYS AND GIVES THE MOST CONVOLUTED ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS. HAS A HARD TIME CONVEYING ABSTRACT CONCEPTS.
He is kind of boring and its easy to doze off in his class BUT he grades fairly and is very helpful if you ask him questions. I Really liked him because he always asks if we understand him but its the students who never say anything so you have to speak up in his class if not then thats your problem. GOOD LUCK =)
Mr. Shamhart was a great teacher. This was a hybrid class but he tried his best to communicate with students when we didn't have class. He was very helpful and always answered my questions and emails. Plus his grading scale is beyond reasonable. I only wish this would have been a regular class instead of a hybrid. Take him, he's great!
Statistics is not an easy class, but Professor Shamhart is willing to put in the extra time to answer all questions you may have. Just make sure you don't fall behind and make sure to ask questions when he asks the class if you have any questions or you're screwed. Took him for Summer and he gave us a total of 4 exams and 1 final. Take his class!
He's teaching can be confusing. Sometimes he teaches so clear. Most of the time I find teaching myself. Definetely don't take him summer nor winter. He's test are one after another. Very little time to study. Just safe yourself some time and money and don't ever take this professor.
Prof. Shamhart is an amazing statstics teach. i took him during the dreaded condensed summer and i passed with an A! as long as you attend class everyday, and follow him through the examples(he goes thru alot for good practice)u should be fine. dont sweat so much about fully understanding the material. after practicing it several times u will learn
Gives WAY too much homework and barely gives any points for them, it is a very fast pace class. All homework's are due online which makes it much harder and takes more time. You will need to put in a lot of effort to pass. Also you need to find time to study for tests separate from doing 8-10 hours of homework a week.

homework are online and time consuming. He takes role but the lectures are not helpful because they are confusing, has hard time explaining questions and often classmates interrupt the professor to help explain concepts to classmates. The tests are okay if you taught yourself the material.
Mr. Shamhart is a Math professor that I would take again in a heartbeat. Expect a lot of homework, but if you have any question, he is patience and will gladly work with you during his office hours. He has a great positive energy and incentives his student to not give up. For HW, he uses Webassign, which I like, and It has been very helpful to me.
Prof. Shamhart is genuinely caring. Homework took a lot of time but we used MyStatsLab which was SO helpful. He goes out of his way to make sure his students know the material and he definitely wants you to pass. He rounds to the nearest grade it seems. He works well with/for the students and I'd definitely take him again, best stats professor!
He's really nice, but he can't teach. I learned off of the website we used and Youtube. Tests are really hard if you didn't spend hours studying. The homework was overwhelming and I stayed up late to finish each time.
Horrible, he sucks at teaching I got a D in his class and retook with another professor which made me love math again and understand it completely. All he did was assign us tons of homework on WebAssign that asked completely different questions than the ones on his tests.
Ill start by saying that math is not my forte. Took stats during summer. Super crazy fast pace, a ton of homework (3-5 hours per night), formulas galore, no time for questions during class. Cant Teach, we had to teach ourselves the material. He kinda makes you feel dumb when you ask certain questions. Gave so much homework and then the tests had different types of problems he had not taught before. I struggled so much i had to drop the class

Nice person but doesn't know how to teach. Due dates for homework and quizzes are clear in the beginning, and then get super messy later. We had a group project and he was never really clear about when things were due. Don't take his class if you want to learn or want to pass. People are dropping like flies from his class.
William Shamhart is a approachable and friendly professor. Hes really passionate and brings energy when teaching statistics. However, there are times when his lectures are very fast paced and unspecific. His test reviews actually help for preparation for the exams.

After 20 years of not taking any class in math, i was lucky enough to stumble upon Mr. Shamhart Math 136 Class. It was absolutely my vibe instructor. He organizes the class so no one was left out (we all had something to learn). I don't think anyone finished the class without learning the basics of statistics (st least). He truly is amazing.
If you're not good at math don't take the class. Lectures are terrible very boring. Thinks he know what he is talking about, but doesn't. Our homework doesn't math the quizzes or tests. Don't take this professor if you need an A.
Professor Shamhart is very knowledgeable, helpful, and approachable. He is truly invested in his students success and is always ready to help. There are smaller easy assignments that help boost your grade as well.
shamhart was difficult. assignments were outrageous. extra credit was offered but if your scores were too low it didnt help much. overall, if you dont like math to begin with, this isnt the class for you. if you do love math, then you will. it all depends on how well you enjoy the subject because this teacher clearly has a passion for it
Helpful tips to pass this class (I took a 5 week summer course): He is friendly but not great at teaching so make sure to study on your own everyday. He had 2 online exams based on the Pearson stats program (easy), and 2 written exams (do-able but make sure to do his practice tests) Quizzes and homework were all on Pearson program (easy)
If you're looking for a statistics teacher who will instruct you comprehensively, look elsewhere. Lectures are grueling as is the amount of homework, quizzes, and tests. If you want to cover four problems in four hours, perhaps this class is for you. If not, look for an instructor who is organized, helpful, and motivating. I got an A, but whew!
Prof Shamhart is amazing, his lectures do get a bit lengthy and boring, I zoned out a lot. But I will say he does give extra credit opportunities, lots of them and he is available for help if needed. He will confuse you, but just ask for help.
Avoid this professor at all cost. He doesn't grade anything until after the final so you have no idea what your grade is throughout the semester (surprise!). His lectures are on MS paint that looks like chicken scratch (barely legible). Be prepared to teach yourself because he doesn't instruct at all.
As an art major and someone who struggles with math, I was very surprised to actually be able to find the course interesting and to finish it, with a good grade. The professor is very calm and kind, he posts motivational videos and articled and really tries to help you get through the semester, with is not common especially with online classes.

lol, i rly couldnt pass him. i had to take him twice, but couldnt even pass. i was one percent off from 70 and asked if there was anything i could do. he said no. had to do stats all over again.
This is the best professor ever! he is very sweet and if you actually pay attention to his lectures you'll get a good grade! The textbooks were provided for free. Would take him again!
I had to drop this class last year after struggling with the professor's lectures. His teaching style made the material very hard to understand. Retaking the course with a different professor showed me that statistics is amazing and not difficult at all. I ignored his ratings, and learned you have to think twice before choosing a professor.

Shamhart is nice enough, but his online course is arduous. First of all, the software used for the class, geogebra, is very confusing. You will run into technical difficulties with the homework and notes. (professor does, too) The actual lectures are boring and sometimes illegible. I strongly recommend taking another Stats course.
Professor Shamhart is passionate about the subject, but the class can be challenging. Use resources like the textbook, practice tests, and Unstuck study to stay on top of the material. Attendance is mandatory, so make sure to engage with the lectures.
