real good and easy teacher, but now a days he is being real strick in checking your essays for plagirism and kicking u out of class for that, and matches the final exam (in class) essay, with your other already turned in essays.

Requires 3 major papers written & assigns in class short quizes.You choose your topic. His grading is fair and he will go the extra mile for students who show him they are responsible. The class is easy if you do all your assignments. Would take again!!!!

He is an excellent professor. explains thouroughly and tells you EXACTLY what he wants on your 3 major papers. He gives you a cover sheet that has EXACTLY what he is grading on and what he expects. Works with you in most situations and will help you whenever he can. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. NICE man!

Mr. Shute is an awesome teacher. He has a very dry sense of humor, but at least he has humor. Although he is very intimidating, his class is pretty easy. If I could, I would take him for 1302 within a heartbeat. Although I am not in his class anymore, I still miss his teaching and smart remarks.

Great professor. Actually made it easy to learn because he explained things and gave examples during his lectures. Tests were mainly from laectures and reading materials and quizzes were usually from the grammer book.

Great Professor, I learned a lot. His quizzes are easy, there is some mandatory reading but the book is interesting. The first paper is easy, the second is easy the final paper is a lot of work get started doing your research early. He is fair and makes English as interesting as one can, it is English afterall. I learned so much from him.

Very good instructor.Instructs lesson very clear and offers a lot of help. I made all A's on my papers, and basically show him your interest for the class and you will pass.

You have a few papers to do, but he gives you ampel time to do each. You can turn them in early, he will revise it,give it back to you so you can correct your misstake and turn it in for a better grade.

He is the best english teacher i've ever had. He gives up an outline of what each class will be about and what we will cover. He gives you detailed instructions about what he expects in the essays. He gives excellent examples. He does keep track of attendence and tardies. He will drop you if your absent 6 times. I would take him again if i could.

He is a great professor. He doesn't have the best handwriting, though. He is good with the material and is relatively comprehensive in lectures. He is somewhat hard to follow.

I thought i wasent going to like him based on my first meeting with him, but ive come to realize he's a really good teacher, he makes assignments very clear and goes over them with you. The books are needed, so is attendance.

Nice man. Yes, you have lengthy essays and grammar quizzes, but this IS English 1301. Go to class, take the notes and the quizzes will be a breeze. He even takes time during the class to go over and proofread your essay. You usually leave class 15 minutes early. I love English, but he still made it simple, fun and not a complete bore.

MR. SHUTE IS WONDERFUL!!! PLEASE listen when I say, I had all C's in English during Highschool. This man will give you plenty of chances to pass his class, he is very very helpful, and is great at understanding emergency situations if your absent. He is however really big on class starting on time. I Hate ENGLISH BUT I LOVE HIM!!!!!

Mr Shute is a great teacher. because it's a 0301 class you need to do all the essays and make higher than a 70 on the three test. He may seem weird at first but he know what he is talking about. All through high school i failed english and would have to take it in summer school but with mr shute i passed with a B+

great teacher! You can use him to help you write your papers, he will corret a few pagraphs, and has no problem with you doing it a few times. He worked with me when my son broke his leg. I was able to do work at home and e-mail it to him. I would take him again if I could.

Mr.Shute was a great professor. his class was not overoly difficult at all if you just came to class frequently. His papers are easy and very well defined. Only one test (the final) i would definitely suggest him as a prof.

I enjoyed this class very much. Only had to write 3 essays, not hard at all. He does like to give quizzes, BUT if u do the little reading he requires every night you will do just fine. He was very helpful and his lectures didn't put me to sleep.

GREAT professor! just read the book for the quizes which are only 4-5 questions you will do great. The textbook is very clear, also study the handbook for the grammar quizes wich are 5-10 questions about every week you will be fine. the quizes are very easy. the essays arent bad at all. he will break it down in parts for you so you understand.

What an amazing professor! I learned a lot while taking this guy. If you want your 1302 Comp class to be easy takes this guy. Although he had several quizzes and assignments, I am truly greatful for the massive amount of information he taught me. I cannot explain in words how much I respect this guys teaching!

Good teacher. Extremely witty, I don't think most of the class picked up on that but he is very smart. He helps out a lot during and after class. You must put in work on the papers though. Do not procastinate. The quizzes are easy, he tells you the questions a class in advance. Definitely recommend.

professor Shute is a very good professor, he is definitely tough but anyone who really wants to learn can and will do well. He refers to the textbook often. Read, all your assignments. He is kind, gentle, and really cared about his students. You will learn how to prepare college papers in this class.

He is an easy professor if you do the work. HERE is a fair warning! ACTUALLY read both books he assigns. I would reccomend reading the wayward bus ahead of time. He assigns 5 assignments on this book. If you don't complete at least 3 out of five. He will FAIL YOU no matter what all your other grades are. Just saying.

Prof. Shute is an amazing teacher. I had him this past semester and he was wonderful. He is funny and detail oriented. He will help with you, as long as you confront him and address your situation. Show up, don't be late, and participate. Keep everything he gives you and don't use the word 'you' in essays.

I had ths guy for English 1301. Respectful. If you keep up with your work, you can't fail. Textbook and Novel book is mandatory. Let's you know what will be on quizzes and tests. One major research paper throughout the semester. Again, if you keep up witht the work and what's going on, you can't fail.

He grades differently but as long as you do your work, and study for his little quizzes, you will be fine. He is somewhat funny and is just trying to help you through the class. It is a veryyyyyy easy English class compared to others!!!!

Very clear and straight to the point. He cuts out a lot of excess and teaches the core of the material. Rather than reading 10 pages in a textbook about a certain topic, he has you print only a couple pages online to study. He goes over your essays with you and tells you what to improve on. Just follow his instructions exactly and you'll get an A!

Mr Shute is THE BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD. He grades fair, hes funny, hes nice, his assignments are not tough, his essays are straight to the point, hes class engaged, we only read one novel throughout the entire semester, and its always the same novel, the wayward bus, MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BOOK, we have short easy quizzes over the novel.

One book to read - The Wayward Bus. That's your textbook. You read a couple chapters every week or two, then take a pre-test (3 questions) to see that you actually read it. Get 23 right, and you can do the assignment. Essays have strict criteria, but are easy and you're given plenty of time to write it. Turn in an essay late and get half credit.

Weekly quizzes on his grammar lectures, weekly assignments on Steinbeck reading. Essays are very easy & he gives plenty of time but he's a picky grader! Just do what he says and respect him, and you'll get an A.

If you do not enjoy writing papers this is not the class for you. I learned so much and I really improved my writing. Professor Shute is a very caring professor and I would highly recommend him!

Professor Shute is direct and to the point. Do the work as assigned and you should have an A. No surprises in this class. He lays the entire semester out in the syllabus. He is very understanding and works with you if you have any issues.

He was a good teacher. His handwriting is a little hard to read but he normally reads it back anyway. You don't need a textbook, in fact the only thing you need is the book (for me it was the wayward bus) and paper and one folder. I would take again.

Professor Shute is awesome. His anecdotes are corny but he's a great professor. His grading is clear and everything is laid out from day one. I took Mr. Shute in Fall 2015 and I was a bit hesitant about talking college english, but I did better than I thought. I Passed with an A. Very easy class as long as you do your homework, and actually read; you will be fine. You read The Wayward Bus, which is not hard to read at all. He cares about students and helps you with anything.

He has this laugh that'll make you laugh. He will give you all the information you need for his tests and quizzes. Make sure you have the book he requires you won't be able to take the quizzes over the book. He's really understanding if you need to miss class just let him know ahead of time. Really recommend taking him he is really easy going.

Professor Shute was great, very detailed on what he assigns us there are three essays we had to do and for each essay did conference. He was a big help. A great professor makes class fun and enjoyable. I would really recommend him. Super easy class if you do the work as followed.

Professor Shute really focused on his students. 3 essays and one final essay but he makes conferences with each student to go over errors. Attendance is mandatory just do the work and you'll pass . He can be intimidating but is very funny and will work with you. Passed with a 93.

Buy "The Wayward Bus".It is a good read and your quizzes on it are fairly easy if you read it.I think there are 3 or 4 papers but if you put just a little effort into them you will make a good grade.

Mr Shute is a great professor. He lectures the class on the test the day before taking them. Also he has a clear criteria. Really an awesome, insightful class. I enjoyed every moment of it.

He only assigned three papers and two of them are about your personal life/interests (other was research). The hardest part of class is the essays but you get about two weeks to complete them. Make sure to print out the handouts he tells you to. Easy points. Everything else is simple. He also lets you out early and, when told, don't have class.

Really good professor and is very fair! Make sure you're there on time if you're late he will count that was a tardy which will lead to an absence. Make sure to take notes because he does check them towards the end of the semester!

This professor is great, I loved taking his class. He's good-natured, funny, easy to understand, and gives clear instructions. If you slack, it's not going to be good for your grade. He gives graded quizzes on the reading material in class, so do actually read. He's a solid professor for a solid student.

Good teacher. Show up to class because if you miss a class and they are doing an assignment you will get a zero. For this reason you should talk before to him and he will help and let you go to one of his other classes so you wont miss the grade.

Professor Shute is a lot nicer than he seems on his syllabus. He's a good teacher and the class is great. He does, however, love to hear himself talk and tell stories. He's a bit rude and pretentious sometimes but I think its just his personality. There are two-week conferences after every essay and they're very helpful. Avoid comma splices.

Everything he does in class is for your benefit. ALWAYS will tell you how he wants it, and so the assignments are not difficult. It kinda is a heavy load class, but if you attend the class and take notes you're golden. With tests and quizzes he tells you what will be on it, and what to study so it really all around easy. He's very special in the way he wants the essays written. Hardly any freedom in the writing we needed to do. Most times he helps but some times very unapproachable. Also no late work because you get half credit.

Mr. Shute is a great teacher! He takes the time to fully explain the content. He also has great sources to help guide you through you English 1301 class. I would highly recommend him if you need to brush up on your knowledge of English, and learn new techniques.

Take this professor! He is awesome and really cares about his students!! the essays are easy topics with one reaserch paper at the end of course only 1000 words. He is very clear on what is expected from his students and he makes it really easy to reach him outside of class. YOU WONT REGRET TAKING HIM! EASY A if u do the work.

Best college English professor I've had so far. His class is an easy A/B with the papers being like at the most 1200 word minimums. Attendance is mandatory, but his classes are very helpful and he goes over every assignment in class, and has example assignments on Canvas.

Better off taking this class online. He will give a lecture about the lesson but will talk about one thing constant or add personal information. Can go off top once in awhile. Nice and smart elderly man. If you really need the help then I would take the class. He tries to keep it 30 mins max. Will write things from the board but is also online.

An amazing first-year professor. He is very clear about what he expects and really, he doesn't ask for a lot. 4 essays, a few paragraph writings, and some grammar quizzes were all he assigned. He gave ample time to complete everything. He's a really easy person to communicate with and he is very understanding and supportive. Highly recommend.

Makes the work super easy and understandable.

Four essays, three paragraph writings, and a couple easy grammar quizzes, that's it! The work is incredibly easy so long as you follow the rubric and seek help if you need it. He is totally willing to work with you if you need help! Lectures aren't even lectures. He just repeats the announcements already in canvas and tells stories for 45 minutes.

I found Shute's communication skills to be top-tier. He is great at explaining topics and expectations. The class us easy as long as you pay attention to due dates.

I took Professor Shute's English class after not taking college classes for eight years. He gave us a deadline for everything that was due that semester on day one. He does not accept late work but allows you adequate time to finish everything. He also reminds you when things are due so there are no excuses. If you do the work you'll pass.

I would highly recommend Professor Shute! You were required to have a notebook for every class and your notes were graded at the end of the semester. Just write everything on the board and you will be fine. Make sure that you always use proper grammar. There was a lot of writing, but he gives you plenty of warning and will help you with the essays.
