Somewhat boring. His tests seem to steer away from the notes. The book is useless cuz he uses his own notes. I didn't like the class much.
Extremely tough!!! His class requires a LOT of studying and work, but Mr. Simson is definitely one prof. who knows his material inside and out, which is definitely respectable!

I dropped after the first day. This guy gives a ton of work. If you are taking a full load, don't take this guy!!
Talks down to students when questions posed aren't readily answered. Vocab memorization is a must and don't expect him to "hand feed you" the definitions. If you can't find them in the text or hear them during lectures expect to spead hours rese
Simson does give lots of work but if he likes you he will grade your essays good. Don't get on his bad side. Sometimes his essay topics are unclear on what he wants from you. Vocab is a must!!
Mr. Simson was very unhelpful and unorganized. He once handed my essay back with a 0, then later told me I did great on it. He then told me I would get a B in his class then he failed me! Don't take him.
the book doesn't help with the vocab. he laughed at me when i turned in a bad essay. and embarrassed my group when we weren't prepared for a presentation.
Horrible teacher!!!! No help at all in any aspect, gave term paper, REQUIREMENTS ARE A JOKE. More than likely I will not pass!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!
very tough teacher.....attention span a must......hope you can take notes.........knows his history
If you were accepted into Harvard and decided to go to P.C.C. instead then he is the professor for you!
Everything people say about him is true. It is possible to get an A, but difficult. Realize that if you take one of his classes you're going to be working harder than in two of your other classes combined.
WARNING!!!!!!DO NOT TAKE, horrible teacher, very difficult and gives numerous amounts of work...I dropped after the first week.
He was tough, but he was good. And I don't even like history. And Simson brought it to life. Sure, I had to work really hard for my "C". But I learned so much from his class.
I found Simson tobe very diffucult to follow. His lectures are not from the book so be able to take endless amounts of notes. This is a very hard class. He uses a lot of diffucult vocab. so beware. I would never take him again nor would I recommend hi
VERY knowledgable man,but highly challenging class and assignments as well.i loved the material but his teaching style discouraged me entirely so i ended up dropping it.sure those who scored 1600 on the SAT would do better but then why would they goto gpc

For some reason everyone fears the wrath of Simson, but I got an A in the class. He probably is hard for GPC students who don't care about school. If you do care then read the chapters take notes in class & he even gives a study guide for his tests.
i took him last semester, i worked my butt off and made an A on every test and assignment and even got a 100 on the final but somehow i had a B average on my transcript when i never even recieved a B the whole semester
I tried my best in this class, and dropped the day of midterms. He's extremely hard, unclear, and unhelpful. And he likes Howard Dean.
He is very hard and gives ALOT of work. He likes you to be VERY specific. He is a very difficult teacher and does give alot of work, but very good. He knows his stuff and is very very smart. He gives great lectures, but never worth anything on the tests.
His class is jam-packed with information. He's incredibly knowledgeable and his lectures were interesting. Don't take him if you don't wanna work, cause he's not easy. You will learn a lot...

He uses extremely high vocab..he makes comments to your comments that will make you feel stupid..very detailed demanding..cares about paracites that affect a tribe/civilization..wtf?even tho im making an A in his class..i didnt learn a damn thing
I have one thing to say: Migration Lines
If you don't have a good vocabulary, don't take his class. If you have some form of high school education, then this class is not hard at all.
A generally difficult teacher with a keen ear for vocabulary. He is helpful if you ask, but going it along can bring little more than a bad grade and a red mark on your forehead from how you slept.
Hardest teacher I've taken in my entire life. Half the class dropped him. Most people consider him the hardest teacher in the entire school. He knows his stuff, but he expects you to know EVERY detail about everything.
He is very smart and knows a lot but he expects you to know all of it as well. His class is very hard. He will however help you out if you go to him. Also he is sometimes not very clear on directions etc. make sure you ask questions.
Worst teacher I had every had!! Wanted very specific details and did not explain anything. What he wants if for you to know everything that he knows.Don't take him my class went from 40 to 10 after the 1st day!!!!!
Good lectures, but you had better read the text book.
VERY difficult! If you are not serious about school, forget taking his class. However, if you stay on top of the workload and come to the lectures you will find he is a very intelligent person with a great deal of knowledge.
If you do not like work, then do NOT take this class. Very good lecturer but unclear about assignments. His tests (which were take home for us) took me 5-6 hours. I received B's, but I busted my ass too. Good luck if you get him.
He's a nice guy. he's flexable, has extensive knowledge about topics. really unclear assignments and instructions but ask him. READ YOUR BOOK!
He is the worst teacher ever. His tests are take home but extremely hard. You cannot find the answers in the book. Have to research them. The class divided the work up and still struggled. You will have 2 huge presentations as well as essays.
Nice guy, ok teacher - class is pretty easy as long as you keep up with it. I didn't go to the 2 finals and he still passed me.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He gives you word list with different spelling from his lecture and from the book. WARNING DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN!!!
I think his words on the first day of class were I am going to raise the bar. Doesn't give clear directions, tests are confusing, dont take the class if you dont want to try or have tons of time to give
Talks alot about different sybjects..goes off course, but is very nice, and teaches you alot of things.
I'll admit, this class is hard, but it's worth it!If you're having a hard time, just ask and he'll be happy to help. There are presentations in class, but you have the opportunity to work in a group, and the tests are take home and matching. It doesn't get easier than matching.I recommend this teacher
Course is difficult but he will give you an excellent grade if you study well!! One thing I really like about the class is that students work together. It makes assignments so much easier when you have someone else to work with! Professor knows the material extremely well, and rewards hard workers!
I think he is a veryy good teacher who has a lot to offer to his students. He is always more than willing to help any student.Take-home tests and group projects are a plus to his class.I love the way his grading system works, averages everything the same and gives you a grade you deserve! Good teacher
The class is challenging; however, if students study (as is recommended) then they should perform well. Assignments are fair, and the teacher is more than willing to answer any questions students may have. All in all, this was an enjoyable class.
I personally did not like his method. All assignments were on webvista, and his tests were very long and most of the material he did not give a source to find the information. For those who like history and a challenge, than you will like him.
As other students have noted, Professor Simson will challenge you. His maxim, like most professors', is "this is college––expect to work hard and never to be 'spoon fed' course material." Taking a course with him should help you prepare for the greater challenges you will surely face at university
6 positive comments in 3 days... interesting. Mr. Simson has very high standards, and I think that's a good thing. However, he doesn't do much to help the students understand how to reach those standards. Many of his students become frustrated and drop his class.
If you're a good student, you have nothing to worry about. He is a great teacher!
Mr. Simson was a wonderful teacher!! He expects a lot of his students, but he is always there if you need any help. I wish he could be my teacher in every subject!
First I will start with, he's a hardass. The guy is university material. He's very clear and very precise and you can't hate the man for being that. The fact is if your not ready for college then you should not even attempt at taking his class. rock on simson
If you love the computer, love a challenge, love history, and find yourself not asking for help from your teachers, this is the class for you!I don't think he is very helpful as a teacher, and he can be stubborn at times. He doesn't always make himself clear either. I don't recommend this class.
Look Simson, if you are that passionate about history, teach jr. and sr. level history for those who care for it. Unless you are a history major, don't even think about taking this professor.
Excellent class. Very interesting lectures, a great storyteller. He'll go to great lengths to help you if you are smart enough to be in college and willing to EARN your grade. He is demanding on the essay portion of his tests, but multi-choice were fairly easy. I learned a new historical perspective
Just because Simson is going for his Phd, he thinks everyone in his class is too. He is ridicously difficult, when I took his class everyone dropped, but 6 people. What does that say? I would not recommend him to my worst enemy.
I am a non-traditional student, and this guy didn't even know how to communicate with me ... he is very educated in the subjected however when it come down to communicating with a human ... he "should" take "how to communicate" classes ...
He is very intense about the subject matter. Over half of my class has dropped since Jan, partly due to his extremely demanding work load. BUT he is always there to help if you have any questions, and responds quickly to e-mails. So, if you like a challenging class, go with Simson.
I didn't apreaciate him during the class. I relized later how good of a teacher he was. He makes you know and retain the info. He grades the essays a little to harsh on grammer but his tests are easy if you STUDY. Good teacher would take him again
I've had Simson for 2 semesters in a row and have enjoyed it. Being a good teacher doesn't mean being very easy and giving out A's. I had to work hard for my A last semester, and I'm REALLY working at it this semster too. Students who think he's unclear just aren't ready for college-level material.
Professor Simson is an excellent professor for anyone interested in geting an education, not merely a degree. His class is demanding and requires a large devotion of time; however, he provides for you all the information you could ever need online and will talk with you outside of class and help you with problems.
Extremely fair grading and very helpful, both online and in person. His tests are not hard, but his group projects can be VERY difficult, mostly because other people are involved (hence the name GROUP project). I will be taking more of his classes, I enjoyed his class that much.
WARNING: IF YOU DONT HAVE (1)WHAT IT TAKES TO REMAIN WITHOUT SLEEP FOR CONTINUOS WEEKS AND WEEKS, (2) WORK UNDER TREMENDOUS PRESSURE (3) RESIST LOWER GRADES AND COME BACK WITH AN A...PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS...ITS NOT FOR YOU..DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR..
Cool guy, but non history majors need not take! Hard tests..

Okay, I posted a negative message while I was taking this class and now I feel bad. I learned a tremendous amount of material from this course. I also feel I will be a better student for having Professor Simson. He is tough, but if you rise to his standards you will not be disappointed in yourself. Great teacher!
Kind of arrogant. Talks too much, assigns WAY too much work even for me who doesn't mind a lot of work. Would be a good teacher if you only had his class and no others. Group projects are hard and he isn't specific as to what he wants. I got a B class participation grade when there was no interaction w/the class. I suggest you AVOID.
The only thing more boring than he is: the book. You could talk to him for an hour about something and leave more confused than when you walked in. He assigns WAY too much work for the time he allows. He contradicts himself when explaining assignments. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU CAN!!!
NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I am a history major and I know a lot about history but his grading is VERY hard. You give him all the info needed and still gives you a lower grade. I regret ever taking this class. So people who read this NEVER TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
He is a nice guy, but he just doesn't understand that Perimeter is a TWO YEAR college, not Harvard or Yale. He expects too much and gives too little time for assignments. Tests are difficult, he doesn't explain the essay outline thoroughly, the group projects are pure HELL. He will make you lose sleep and fray your nerves.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! THIS TEACHER IS RIDICULOUSLY HARD. HE WAS VERY UNCLEAR. WE STARED OUT WITH PROBABLY ABOUT 25 PEOPLE IN THIS CLASS AND I HEARD THAT WE ENDED UP WITH ABOUT 10. THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING!!!
Mr. Simson was a wonderful teacher. You leave his class not only knowing more about history, but also how to be a successful student in college. If you aren't lazy then you will do just fine! I would take his class anytime...
He's a nice guy I guess, but he expects way to much from his students. The tests are crazy. If you want to pass history, then DO NOT take this class. He is unclear about everything!

Horrible. absolutly horrible. None of this if you work really hard you will do well crap, I worked my ASS off in his class and still can't make the grade. Im not kidding worked SO hard..
Nice guy, and expects you to study and work like you are in college. What everyone is saying is true. He expects you to work at it, but your work pays off. Somehow I failed every test, but I still made an A for the year. I worked hard and he knew it. COMMUNICATE with him online if you take this as a hybrid...he loves communication! TAKE THIS CLASS!
Simson wasn't lying. He stated he was a HARDASS and he meant it. I took the Hybrid version of his class and even though it was difficult, Simson is a caring teacher. He also has a sense of humor. He not only grades for correctness, but effort as well. This class is NOT for the slackers or lazy people. Tip: Analyze all information provided.

I took both sections of his history class and managed A's. If you're not willing to do college-level work, you won't do well in this class. He's knows the subject well and it’s evident that he loves teaching. Take advantage of that knowledge and ask questions, then you’ll do fine.
Mr. Simson does expect college level students to do college level work. He say himself that he is a HARD ASS, but I think it's only because he cares! He is passionate about History and it shows! I do respect Mr. Simson for what he does!
Mr. Simson, is great if you're into history but don't take him if you're just looking for credit. He makes the class very interesting and has a great test and project system. If you're not willing to go above and beyond and think outside the box you won't do well in his class. all in all, i think its a great history class.
Great Professor for those who love history. He grades you based on if you understand the lessons of history and not the exact facts. He is also very open to different opinions. Not an easy class.
This is not an easy history class. I personally have not learned a thing in his class. He class consisted of projects, papers, and tests. I would not take this class unless you have to because it requires way tooooo much time! Trust me! He is a nice guy though.
Things may seem really vague at the beginning of the semester. Stop by his office or ask him questions after class a few times and then you'll get the hang of it. He's actually easy to talk to and responds quickly to e-mail.
VERY HARD! THIS IS GA PERIMETER, NOT PRINCETON OR HARVARD! This man drinks a red bull before class and talks a mile a minute. If you want an A then don't waste your time, DROP IT! His class will effect your performance in other classes by stressing you out and having sleepless nights.
Do not take this class its very very hard.too many projects and the hardest writting assignments in the world.
This teacher is very very helpful. This class is easy if you do the work. He makes it very intrusting and fun. Loads of projects that you do in groups. Your final is a group project. Im pulling an A......This is coming from someone that graduated high school with a 2.8 GPA
This is a class that requires a lot of work but if you do it you'll make a good grade. Ihave done more work in this class than all my other ones combined. Not an easy A. He is a good teacher.
Run if you see this name when registering!! If you have lots of time, no other classes/job, patience, and you are "PERFECT" in your writing skills, then this could be the class for you. Just when you have worked your a$$ off on a 2-part term paper, he rips it apart and completly slams you and your writing. I worked harder in this class than in my
THERE IS A BUTT LOAD OF WORK!!! PROJECT AFTER PAPER AFTER EXAM AFTER ESSAY AFTER PROJECT! It never ends. But he is very willing to help in any way he can. Nice guy....BUT WAY TOO MUCH WORK!
This class is a ton of work, I mean a ton. I worked hard in this class and did everything ask of me and still received a B in the class. He is a nice guy but the work is waaay two much even for a college history class. If you want to get a decent grade you will have to work really hard!!!
Mr. Simson's class is VERY HARD and is A LOT OF WORK. However, if you put forth A LOT of effort, you will get a good grade. And you can learn a lot from Mr. Simson. So if you just want an easy A, dont take Simson, if you actually want to learn something, and can put a lot of time and energy into it, take his class, and you will get an A.
He is VERY HARD! I would not suggest taking him, unless you want a project or a paper every week. He has a Master's in pronunciation, so he will take off for spelling and grammar. If you like to do a lot of work, and spend most of your free time studying then he is teacher for you.
Worst idea I've had in college: taking Simson's class with a full load. Tons of projects, tons of papers (of which he will take points off of if you're not perfect), very difficult tests. It was my first semester in college; he drained the energy and spirit out of me. I hated him then, but maybe it was for the best in the long run. TAKE AT YR OWN RISK
great teacher. ha great knowledge of subject matter. lots of projects and work but you learn a lot in his class. he truly appreciates hard work and effort. tests are a piece of cake. i loved his class and had fun with the projects. you will spend most of your time on the computer, doing lots of research.
After attending Perimeter, and then getting my Bachelors from GA State University, I can still say, without batting an eye, that Mr. Simson is the definition of a top notch professor. His classes are difficult, but so valuable, and you learn so much, that I can't imagine having taken anyone else. The work is worth it more than in any other class.
I cannot imagine putting in several hours of reading over history. Sure I agree he’s very demanding about the work, but Simson will applaud you. Trust going up to his office everyday for a few minutes to break down the material more for you he will, b/c he’ll stick with you.
He is a wonderful teacher. You take a lot of knowledge from it and he tries to make it really fun. He tries to help as much as he can and do not ever be afraid to ask for help if you do not understand. He makes you feel like you can do anything and if you need help he is right there. He's a good teacher and a good person. Everyone should take him.
He is helpful and teaches with enthusiasm. He clearly loves History. However, this class is CHALLENGING. Don't take it if you're lazy/prone to absences. He won't accept it (not that he should). My only complaint: I felt he expected us to know a lot more about History than we did. I would have liked more History discussion, less projects!
Very helpful and loves history. Gives a lot of projects, test, and papers you always have something to do in his class. Tests are easy need to be able to spell well very picky about that. Notes and text book are not very important in his class.
Professor Simson overall was not a terrible teacher. The projects can be sort of difficult but they are group projects and that helps. I found the tests to be fairly easy if you study. Class attendance is a must. He is a nice guy but does not like when people miss class or they show up late!
I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Simson's style of teaching and fun group projects in History 2112. He holds high standards not only for his students, but also for himself. The high standards and quality of work which he demands prepared me for future classes and projects. Also, he is always open to help students during his extensive office hours.
Professor Simson's class is a perfect example of what college is like to first-year freshman. For the first time, many of you will actually have to KNOW what you're talking about. As long as you pay attention, read the book, and study well, this class should be no problem. The tests are tedious and lengthy, but they cover the material well.
He is one of my favorite professors! He seems tough, but his tests are extremely easy. You only have to memorize 5 facts about 15 words and write a short essay. I hate lectures, but his are the best!! He loves history and his enthusiasm spreads to the entire class. The materials he uploads on WebCt are also very helpful!
I failed the first test with a 64, but after that I got A's on the other tests. His teaching style is very clear and his online helped help me out a lot this summer.
We did not have to buy an expensive text book, which was great. The teacher was a little difficult, but helpful. Check out the webct, and the test will be ok. Know all the vocb. (everything about them.. not just the definitions)
Professor Simson is an excellent instructor. I came into the class somewhat reluctant and ignorant for the most part of numerous world events. However his comprehensive teaching style enlightened me tremendously. Professor Simson?s lectures are articulated with great passion. His love for History is obvious. I highly recommend him.

This class is much harder the first half of the semester than it is the second half of the semester. Make sure to take detailed notes in class (a tape recorder is highly recommended) and look at his slideshows on WebCT. Don't bother buying the textbook - it's useless. The study guides on WebCT are also very helpful. You must work to get an A.
Mr. Simson is a very intelligent professor and he is passionate about history. I took him twice and really enjoyed his class. If you take good notes and do the study guides you will do well.
Great teacher, fun, and loves his work! Take him if you can. You will work for the A but he if fair and offers extra credit. His tests require you to think and spelling is graded.
You ever have that teacher that thinks they know EVERYTHING? This is the teacher! He's okay, but he is sooo condescending! If I could get past his gigantic ego, I may actually learn something!
Expects way too much from students. Textbook is pointless to buy, he doesnt teach out of it. His tests are mostly definitions, 100 choices and he'll use about 30 so be sure to memorize everysingle definition with ridiculous detail. DO NOT TAKE his class. It is mind numbing and will make you very annoyed and pissed off at his style of teaching.
Prof. Simson actually knows what he's talking about. He cares about how well his students do, which is the mark of a good prof. The textbook is pretty useless unless you care to better yourself by knowing history in and out. Tests are absolutely fair. No essays. The class is engaging and attendance isn't obsessively monitored. I'd re-register.
Amazing class! Professor Simson clearly enjoys teaching history and it is impossible not to be caught up in his enthusiasim. The textbook was easy to read, the class website was packed with resources including test study guides. While the tests are not particularly hard they do require an adequate amount of preparation. Great class!!
Professor Simson is one of the finest teachers I have ever had. If you work hard and apply yourself you will be rewarded. Professor Simson is what college should be about. He is honest, fair, and willing to help in any way that he can. He has a way of bringing out your best. You will be a better prepared student for having taken his class.
I had a lot of interest in history until this class. If this guy could get passed his huge ego, I would of enjoyed it. Impossible to talk to and his study guides are useless. He teaches in a condensending tone and makes no sense at times. 1/2 the class dropped before midway- avoid this teacher if you can. Trust me.

I usually hate history and got poor grades. This instructor was well informed and knew some of the people or relatives involved. I was so surprised that the class was not sugar coated. Mr. Simson told the real feelings of people from that time and did not hold back! This made the class exciting to me. You must study the words he gives you.
As a teacher, Mr. Simson is excellent. His test questions have to be clearer
Mr. Simson is an awesome teacher. His teaching style was comprehensive and very effective. He was helpful and considerate to students and I really learned a lot from his class. Not for lazy people looking to get an "easy A". If you do the work (which is really not that bad) you will be rewarded. I plan on taking his class again for the next section
Professor Simson is hard for me, he'll give a lot of info but it won't be in order and little confusing. His test are really hard, he rewrites the questions so much from the study guide that it can throw you off. DO NOT miss any days, think out side the box and study hard.
Wow, this has been one of the hardest professors I have ever taken on GPC. He is very nice and helpful but do not take him if you are not used to studying A LOT. His tests are very hard, very confusing than what is on the study guide. There is a ton of work probably because he believes that History is your major and not just a regular class.
I took this class in hybrid and the amount of work is reasonable. Keep up with the readings, do the study guide, and go to class, then you do fine. Compare to other class, this class is nothing so if you can try to take him.
class attendance is very important. if you missed a class then you missed an entire lesson and its very difficult to catch up. he is a very smart man and always knows what he is talking about, and is always willing to help, but only if you ask for it.
Professor Simson is a great teacher. Class is not mandatory but you better show up or you'll miss a lot. His lectures are really interesting and if you have any interest in history take him. Study and go to class and you'll get a good grade
Really great guy. He's able to bring history alive and doesn't sugar-coat anything. Offers multiple perspectives on any given event and tells you the amazing stories that are usually left out of the textbooks and forgotten. I'm an A student and never got below 100 on any test--which are ALL multiple choice. If you're a good student, take him.
I agree with everyone else, Simson is nice and quite helpful, but HE TALKS TOO FAST. I find it hard to follow his lectures and find myself forgetting what he said 30 seconds ago because now he's off on a completely different tangent. Be careful not to tune out or you'll miss important stuff.
DO NOT TAKE THIS ClASS. I believe almost all good coments are writen by himself coz the language are used here is HIS; I can tell. He is a very bad teacher and horrible grader, and he does has some comlexity that encourage him to treat bad with student.
It is obvious some people do not know what a good teacher is. A good teacher does not try to trick their students and they set their students up for success not failure. My advice to you is, if you have to take history and you are not a history major DO NOT TAKE SIMSON'S CLASS! His grading is also harsh for the busy work he will give. Choose wisely
Not really a good teacher and very condenscending.
Professor Simson has too much to read. Two textbooks plus his notes, plus assorted website readings. It took way more than the 4-5 hours per week he said it would take. Most of his quiz questions came from his notes. Most of his midterm and final exam questions came from his unit quizzes, which helped a lot. He makes you write massive amounts.
This class was ridiculous! Simson teaches and grades as if every student is a senior history major. Comes off as condescending. Assigns massive amounts of tedious busy work that he grades harshly. I learned very little in this class.
This professor is enthusiastic to teach and share with students historical happenings that we need to know for common knowledge. If you are interested in world history, you should take his course.
He is one of the best history professors I have taken. I took him several years ago. The tests are not multiple choice but I thought they were easy. All you have to do is memorize the vocab definitions and then know enough about two or three essay topics to write a paragraph on. He is very intelligent and enthusiastic. You will learn alot in class.
Professor Simson is a challenging teacher, however, you do learn alot. He gives a few take home exams, and if you study for his tests from the study guide, you'll do fine. Some tips to suceed: go to class, don't be late, take good notes from his lectures. He gives away many of the answers for the tests during lectures. He's a great guy!
NICE, BUT VERY HARD. NOT VERY HELPFUL THOUGH. IF YOU ASK HIM A QUESTION, HE'LL JUST TELL YOU TO RE-READ THE CHAPTER, AND THAT IT SHOULD ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE. ALOT OF READING AND HOMEWORK. VERY HARD TESTS. I WOULDN'T TAKE HIM AGAIN.
Simson mistakes slide shows for teaching, and fact-pushing for education. Perhaps he doesn't know any better, but he should.
Simson is a very understanding professor to returning students; ask and you shall receive. Take home tests, and bonuses that earn up to 10 points per test.(including pictures from slide shows)Willing to go the extra mile for those that try!
Not an easy course, but everything that is expected is written out clearly on the syllabus. Must put a decent amount of effort into the study guides. Take home tests and bonus sections on all tests.
Doctor William Simson is an extraordinary instructor because he knows more about his subject than any other teacher I have had. He gives you all the tools and materials required to make an A, and it's up to you to study in order to EARN an A. The tests come straight from the material. If you failed, you didn't study or you're just a schmuck.
Professor Simson is good and hi knows what is toking about. The only thing you need to do it is listening him.
I thought this class was going to suck, to of course not pull any punches in this review. However, Prof. Simsons GIVES you the tools you need to pass this class, and pass it with flying colors. Some would say he's hard, and I agree, but this gentlemen KNOWS what he's talking about, and as long as you attend class and pay attention, you're set.
The class format is a true lecture hall. You shouldn't anticipate a lot of down time in class, but the material is well presented. Almost all deadlines are extended, but don't actually anticipate that happening. All I can say is that it was a breeze for me.
Simson is an AMAZING professor. He's strengthened my interest in History. Of course the class is tough because it is a college course, but as others have said he gives you the tools to pass the class. You should be able to pass this class if you're not lazy. He lets you record his lectures also. Just read the chapters and follow the study guide.
Not an easy grade, but if you go in willing to study he will give you all the tools that are needed to make an A.
Great teacher who is willing to work with you if you are struggling. No reason to make less than a B in the class. Has detailed study guides to follow before every test.
absolutely amazing professor! I was not that interested in world history until i took him for the course. The material is a little hard but if you come to class and do the work, you will get a good grade. He pushes you, but at the same time will work with you. I liked his teaching so much, i wish he was going with me to the univ. i am transferring
He is a very enthusiastic teacher, but its very hard to keep up with him. He talks extremely fast...He grades soooo hard, and alot of student were complaining because of his teaching. He is a awesome teacher but His teaching just did not suit me personally!!!
Professor Simson is a great teacher. He is not easy, but he does make sure you know the material. If you attend class and complete the study guide you will do fine. Professor Simson wants you to pass he class. If you want to know History take this class. You will not be disappointed.
Dr. Simson's class is great. He really cares about you doing well. Yes, this class you can't just float by in... you actually have to come to class and work hard... but that's what a college level course is. He is a great teacher and if you get lost or are having trouble he is always there to help you.
Awesome instructor. Works with students when scheduling issues arise. He also has an open door policy. Utilize him. He is a powerful resource. Gives good bonus questions on exams. Just study and you'll do well in this class. Oh yes, and please be on time.
Very helpful and works with students to get assignments in (even if they are late). Helpful and welcomes any student to come to him for any reason. Great, great, great teacher.
One of the best history teachers that I have ever had! Gives tons of extra credit opportunities and gives tons of second chances. Overall, if you attend class everyday, take notes, and study your notes, you should do fine! With his lectures, Mr. Simson is very thorough, fun, and entertaining. He tends to go fast though, tape recorder recommended.
Professor Simson is an excellent professor. I would take him again. Attend class, do the assignments and you should do well in his class.
He seems like a nice guy but he grades extremely hard, not easy to work with, and never answers emails... Worst teacher I've Ever had DO NOT TAKE HIm!
I'm slightly biased as a history major but I loved his class so much I took the second part of world history with him as well. His class is very difficult but I did well to fantastic on everything by taking copious notes and attending study groups. Going to the review classes is an absolute must. I recommend this class for anyone who loves history.
loved to use power points, but not really on the test. make sure you pay attention to the things he says that AREN'T on the power point. if he talks about locations on a map, KNOW THE MAP! IT WILL BE ON THE TEST!! and DO NOT take his class during a a mini-mester; you'll want to kill yourself. make sure you're not afraid to work.
Terrible teacher. Had him for an online class and his typos and grammatical errors are so overwhelming that it makes a lot of his instructions incomprehensible. Few times I've sent questions about the instructions, got condescension in return. Not recommended as a teacher unless you want to work hard for all the *wrong* reasons.
awesome professor.
Overly hard and he will tell you that ! I felt like I was on surviver...the class was full at the start of the semester and almost empty by medterm. I love history, but I alsp like good grades !!
i wouldn't advise my worst enemy to take his class. i took his class and after the first test its half empty, by the withrawal dead line almost everyone was gone. he teaches history as if its everyone's major, basically like you don't have anything else doing.he uses turabium format instead of mla.he continuosly gives work and grade hard as hell.
Wonderful online teacher!
Professor Simson was an incredible professor. His class was very difficult, but he gave us everything necessary to succeed. It is important to attend all classes and pay special attention to the lectures.
Professor Simson knows what he is talking about. This class is very difficult even though he is a helpful professor. U will have a term paper and collaborative project to do. Term paper - when i went to go show him. He found many grammar mistakes. I think he should be history and grammar teacher. Don't take the class if your busy.
this professor has interesting lectures. the way he lectures the material is easy to understand and listen to. its not as boring as most history professors. however, he is extremely particular about how he wants everything to be done. there is no such thing as an A on his term paper. the class is hard because he gives of side work. he gives out st
I know a lot of people disliked him, but he's intelligent, knowledgeable, and if you make a genuine effort he's happy to work with you. Tests are tough, but he does provide GOOD study guides (use them!!) and some take-home tests too. Not an easy class, but if you're a good student and willing to study and take notes, you'll do well. Recommended.
This guy is NO JOKE. He is very tough, but VERY willing to help. If you are looking for a History class to breeze through this is NOT IT. His tests come from a combination of his lectures, the readings and the slides he posts online. You will definitely get your moneys worth! I now feel MORE than prepared for GA State!
Took the Hybrid class of his. He will tell you on day 1 that this class is TOUGH, and it is. His lectures are totally engaging. I learned a lot from this guy. He gives you his office number and cell number. He likes it when you go to his office to ask questions.
Great professor, passion for teaching history....talks fast so bring a recorder if you can't write fast...Hard but will give extra credit..
Tests are easy if you have a brain. However you wont get an A. and at the end of the day thats all that matters.
I enjoyed his enthusiasm regarding the curriculum. However, He makes little to no reference to the book. All of his slideshows are posted online, but they essentially consist of pictures. His test questions are designed to confuse. Definitely passable but I would stress to anyone the importance of not taking his course. overall not a good teacher.
Truly great professor and excellent lecturer. He isn't an easy A, but folks it's college! Be prepared to spend some time doing group work. You must READ THE BOOK or else you won't pass. He knows his subject well & makes it interesting. I highly recommend him if you are a dedicated student.
He's an intelligent man, and his lectures were often colorful and informative. At times, his tests were very confusing. It's absolutely mandatory that you meet with your study group, and complete the study guide together. You do not want to do this class alone. You cannot float by in this class on lecture alone. Also bring a recording device.
Do not take this class if you want an easy A. He does make this class challenging and you have to do your part to get a good grade. You will definitely come away from this class with a greater knowledge of history. He is a conservative grader, you must EARN the grade, he will not GIVE it to you! He is a supportive and encouraging professor.
Wonderful person and a great teacher. Works with his students and respects them. Very motivating learning strategy.
Do not expect a free ride through this class. It will make you do what you came to college to do (LEARN). While the course is challenging the support from Dr. Simson will be more than enough to help you along. I highly recommend this course and professor to anyone seeking to adequately educate themselves at this level.
Dr. Simson is definitely the BEST history teacher I've ever had. I have never been super interested in history because I found it boring, but I am always willing to learn and put effort. He was very enthusiastic in his lectures and made sure the material was completely covered before the exams. STUDY and you will do great. Very helpful & respectful
I looked forward to taking this class before I started. Im taking online & maybe that's the problem. He assigns, average 130 powerpoint notes a week, 2 chpts reading and discussion participation. His standard for an A is unachievable and I have a 3.5 GPA! He sets you up to fail and your work is never good enough. Im sure he's a nice guy.
He is a nice person, but the class is very difficult. His tests are too long and cover WAY too much material. His class is as hard as any class at GPC. DONT TAKE HIM
A tough teacher, but very thorough. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. You will definitely learn your history with him! Difficult but recommend him if you really want to learn.
He is a very nice and helpful teacher but he is very hard. Even with take home tests didn't that well, this class will cost you your gpa to drop. I worked my butt of and spent hours at his office but I got a C. I got 79 but he refused to bump it up. He makes the subject interesting but it is very hard even if you do the study guide!
Definitely a college level course. Should not be taken with a tight schedule. Absolutely challenging, but not an impossible course to make an A in. Needs a lot of time and work in-order to do well, but definitely doable. It was a very interesting class and Professor Simson put a lot of time and effort into making it a worth while course.
I have taken three classes wtih Dr. Simson. He is fair, well prepared and a great teacher. He knows things that will make any student better able to understand and speak intelligently on the issues of the day. He never lets the students down. He is dedicated to helping each student achieve.
If you have not had Comp I, Comp II, and at least one literature course, DO NOT take this class. You will not pass. Requires daily attendance/reading; For summer terms, expect to dedicate 7 hours a day to this class to earn an A (I did). Bookworms who love a challenge: This professor is your cup of tea. He'll give you real-world experience.
Prof. Simson is simply GREAT! The class is not easy but it is really interesting. He wants the students to learn and will demand a lot of you! So far is the best professor in GPC. I would take him to teach in Costa Rica!
Difficult class! Teacher submitted an incorrect grade at the end of the semester and refused to correct it. It was a pain to get my correct grade recorded on my own. His grading on papers and projects also follows no real guidelines, so it is very subjective. I was docked thirty out of one hundred points on a paper for "wordy prose"
Has a research paper due and also a group projects. Most lectures and group discussions are fun. Take his notes they are very important for the test. You will be given a list of topics and then correspond with the notes.
I was scared of taking history, but Dr. Simson is an excellent teacher who made learning about history fun. Pay attention in his class, take notes, and ask questions. Above all, STUDY! He is not easy, but he is a FANTASTIC teacher!!!
He is a great professor, I dropped his History class because of tight schedule but to people with open schedules and time to read and read and read I highly recommend him. Hes test are hard but as I said if you read you will be good.. this is def. a college level course, his pace i fast try to use a recorder or take real good notes.
Dr.Simson is a okay teacher. He is very knowledgeable about all of it and likes to jump around between topic. If you aren't a history buff,or you have no interest in history DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This was a class I struggled in and I usually am making A's
Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches; definitely digresses but makes the subject infinitely more interesting. Fantastic teacher, but tough grader because he really knows what he's doing.
Dr. Simson is a great teacher and I enjoyed his class. He is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. You have to apply yourself if you want to make an A in this class. He gives you all of the information that you need to pass the class but if you don't study then it won't happen.
This class is a challenge. For all you detail oriented and history lovers, this is your piece of pie. But for others, like myself, I found myself studying and stressing over this class all the time. Make sure you do well on exams, and use power points and in class notes. Simson is very involved, and is passionate about history. A decent professor.
Very hard and challenging class. The teacher is amazing and knows so much information on every aspect of it. He is extremely passionate and wants the student to learn and excel. He is intense and hard so if you are scared for a challenge then i don't recommend this class. He genially cares that you do good but hell make you work for it.
I actually loved this class...my first few weeks, I didn't really do well because I wasn't sure of his method of teaching but I was able to adjust by the end of the semester. He allows you take tests home or work with a partner in class, gives extra credit, and even send test questions! Enjoyed the class and did great.
The best teacher by far...he is not easy but doesn't mean that he wants you to poorly by any means. He is the most helpful teachers you might ever have, gives students his cell phone number for questions. Overall amazing! Hard class but in the end its worth it, he won't let you down!
Very sweet and understanding professor
Dr. Simson is a great teacher. If you like a good challenge, he will definitely challenge you. He is very intelligent and you will learn a lot, if you pay attention. To be successful in this course take GOOD NOTES.
LOVED HIM! he made history so fun! you do have to actually study, but i learned so much. Get to know him, and you'll do well. He loves to help you improve. So well organized, pretty fair. offers extra credit or re-dos of assignments sometimes. once he gave everyone 10 pts for just coming to class because a lot didnt show up.
TAKE SIMSON'S HISTORY CLASS!!!! He is so brilliant, I recorded all his lectures and took notes - never once cracked the book and passed with an Aplus on everything. this is is a challenge, don't be fooled, but he makes it so easy to absorb everything he teaches! He is tough but fair - your final grade is based on improvement hint TAKE THIS CLASS!
Some of these reviews make Simson look like the hardest teacher ever, he isn't. His class is challenging but he gives opportunities for extra credit and is very helpful to students who ask. He does most lectures from memory so he really knows what he's talking about. But one word of advice, don't be late!
THE WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! do not take him at all. he is not clear at all when is explaining the lessons, tells a little from the beginning, a little from the end, and then it does back to the beginning, and confuses you. and he also wants you to remember the exact years and the spelling of the names. he is very hard...
Informative and attentive professor. Highly recommend. I found his Study Guides greatly aided in my ability to succeed in said class.
He is very passionate about History and it clearly shows during his lectures. He's a nice man and is very helpful during office hours. Tests are very difficult, plus an essay during test. Essays are easy since he allows an outline. But I recommend to STUDY. Study guides he puts on iCollege are the same questions on test(some worded differently)

He's the man. Helpful, clear, and his lectures are presented in a story telling fashion. Great stuff.
Do not take him unless you are a history major.
Im not big on history and i took professor simson and it was awful. was nothing but lectures and i ended up dropping the class by midpoint because i just couldn't do it. Unless youre super smart and study often and take tons of notes and talk in class,... just no... :/ tests were hard and long (lol)
He is a good teacher but he does not understand that some students would read the book as many times needed in order to get an A. If the student gets an A he likes himher, if not then he is sure that student does not study. I got a C and took world history with John Mack and got A+. If you take other classes and like your GPA, stay away from him.
He loves History but his tests are hard and no forgiveness or replacement. No drop tests or drop quizzes. He grades the term paper very tough. I was told not to take his class but I made a mistake and I did. Don't take him if you care about you GPA.
He is the best and explains so clearly. You are allowed to record the lecture so make use of that.
Extremely knowledgeable. If you like history, you will do very well, but if not, you may want to look elsewhere. I enjoy history, so had a great time listening to his lectures and did very well in the class. At the end of his exams he gives an essay that can lead to extra credit for all the correct facts you list. Study heavily for the essay!
don't take him! he gives lots of reading! not an easy class! you have to focus just on history during semester! If u like reading and do like history take him!!!!!
He's very dedicated professor. You are going to learn a lots of stuff from him, however, test is kinda hard and requires a lots of readings
five tests and a family research project. He knows his stuff and wants you to learn but holds students to too much of high standard. Doesn't answer questions straightforward.
RUN!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA! HE REQUIRES 2 ESSAY PAPERS & HE IS VERY PICKY WITH SPELLING AND GRAMMAR. HE GIVES DEMEANING FEEDBACK AND RESPONDS TO YOU LIKE YOUR ILLITERATE. HE REQUIRES A LOT OF READING AND DISCUSSION POSTS. HIS CONSTANT DAILY MESSAGES WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY!
I took him for honors history. His tests questions are confusing & there is often multiple correct answers. 0homework, tests, 1group project, & 1essay. But you will have no other opportunities to help your grade. He curves the grade and gives extra credit. Don't buy a book he will tell to read online site and slides. He really knows he stuff.
Great teacher. Will make you read a lot, but this will help you to get a good passing grade. Quizzes are online and you will have 2 attempts. He is always available to help and responds very quickly. He also posts grades very fast and you can always see your average grade on icollege. I definitely recommend him if you want to get a good grade.
I really enjoyed this class and found it to be very interesting. I got a B+ and didn't really study so I don't think he is as hard as everyone is saying. Simson is a great teacher and I wish I needed another history credit so I could take him again.
This class was extremely difficult.. only 7 students in the class everyone always failed the test and if you want extra credit he assigns papers and He is a tough grader. Im not a history major! Dont take him and save your GPA please !!
Very harsh grader and his quiz's are very confusing. He puts each question on a single page so you cant go back to fix a mistake. Though he's a fast grader and cares on his discussion posts (there are a lot) he will hit you with you with the power of Zeus if you make a mistake once. Overall, if you wanna work for your grade, he's a good 2nd choice.
Worst online class I've ever taken. Literally spent more time doing homework for this class than all of my classes combined. He talks down on you and makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions. I highly suggest not taking him unless you are prepared to spend 2 hours every night on discussions and homework.
Professor Simson is one of the best lecturers I've ever encountered. I didn't take a single note, or even open the textbook in his class. I just paid attention to what he was saying, and did the study guides that he posted. He's passionate about what he teaches, which is great for me.
Most difficult online class ive taken. BARELY passed this class. This professor is rude and makes you seem dumb when you ask questions, reach out to him etc. He makes discussion posts long and hard and makes it impossible to get a decent grade. With the essays he assigns, you can complete all the requirements and still get a terrible grade.
Loved going to his lectures. You can tell he loves teaching history and it translates well into class. Has high expectations which makes his class hard but if you go to class and pay attention you will learn history and have fun
THIS IS THE HARDEST ONLINE CLASS!! DO NOT TAKE IT! He assigns so much work and is the toughest grader I have ever had! His discussion post are very lengthy and it is very hard to receive an A on them. His essays are the hardest! Even if you have all the information he asked on your essay, it is so hard to make about a 70. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
Hes so extra. He over complicates his class. He locks his door after 10 minutes and doesnt let anyone in. hes just too much
I hate history but this class was easy enough for me to pass. I had to study but everything you study will come from a game he comes up with. Hell read questions from the exam and your group has to answer it. The winner gets extra points on the exam. You can record lectures and laptops are allowed. He turns lessons into stories and is very chill.
took him spring 2021 blended. He is a hard grader and gives a limited amount of time. He doesn't offer any compensation for this. Once a deadline is over, its over. I have a job and it' s hard to keep up. Work heavy class and unless your an actual tryhard with nothing to do you'll succeed.
If you have knowledge coming into the course - take it; if not, don't. His teaching, test review guides, etc are sub-par. I don't understand why he has chosen teaching as a profession. I would say he is confident but he does not have the ability to be considered confident, so it is pure arrogance. No substance to back up the confidence.
A lot of reading quizzes every week if you want to take it read a lot.
This is the worst class I have ever taken in my entire life. The content of the class was extremely interesting and something I was actively interested in; however, this professor made wanting to engage extremely hard. The workload he gave out was ridiculous, and I had a very hard time prioritizing my three other classes because of this one. 0/10.
He swooped in for my class at the end of the semester. I really only had 2 class meetings with him but he seemed caring and helped us well to foster understanding. I would absolutely take him for any other history courses based off the 2 class meetings I had with him.
