This class is SO much fun. i have never liked science or have i done well in it, but his enthusiasm and energetic personality help me pay attention better and the hw, tests, and quizzes are easy as long as you pay attention. i highly recommend taking this class rather than bio101, it seems as if this class is more interesting and a lot more fun!

Straube is a very good teacher!! He knows his stuff and will explain material until you understand it. He is esy to get ahold of if you need any help after class. And even though the class its self is a bit dry he makes it fun and interesting. I really enjoyed having him for lecture. I hope I can take another class taught by him.

the best teacher for me so far, not because of the way he grades the quizzes(super) but because he knows his materials and actually make microbiology interesting( not only for points)and fun, he always have some story or catch phrases to help you remember, YOU'RE THE BEST STRAUBE!!!

Professor Straube is a great teacher. You learn a lot from his class, because he makes the material so interesting. The tests are fairly easy if you follow the study guide. I would most definitely take another class from him.

Great teacher, so helpful. Funny, friendly, let's you turn things in late if you are having trouble. One of the best teachers I have had so far. Gives out study guides that are straight from the test. Just take good notes, study for the test right from the study guides and you will get an A.

WOW! Professor Straube is an amazing teacher. He is always willing to help students if they have any questions. He loves what he does, and it really reflects in his teaching. Most of the time he uses his power point to teach, however he comes up with creative stories and dances to help you remember the material. Take this teacher!

Dr. Straube is the man! He test/quizzes started out all short answer, but then he shifted to m/c. The final was easy. He tells you what to expect so you will be prepared. Loved his class, but hated going at 8 AM. This man knows his stuff.

Great teacher. I really wasn't looking forward to taking this class but he loves what he does, you can tell and it makes you want to know everything about it. The tests are usually short answer but easy IF YOU STUDY. I haven't needed to contact him but I have heard that he is hard to get in touch with but make sure you use his office hours.

Dr. Straube is AWESOME!!! I absolutely loved his Micro class. I learned so much, and because he is enthusiastic about the subject I was too. He has lots of great stories and interesting tidbits of info. I would definitely recommend his class.

I have always wondered what he looks like without the Santa Claus beard. Like every time I tried to focus in class, I tried picturing him without the beard. But yeah, he is good teacher.

Prof Straube is an interesting teacher. He makes microbiology easy and fun to understand. He is constantly connecting facts of the subject to real-life situations. He gives study guides usually before a test and Happily (literally) answers any and all questions. Of course if you do your work, you're due for AT LEAST a B.

This class was amazing. Although there were some "ladies" in my section who talked the whole time and would ask a million questions that had already been answered, but he was pretty patient. He covers the material very thoroughly. Excellent teacher. Excellent class.

Definitely very caring about his students in his class. If you didn't understand the subject he would go out of his way to help you. Made class interesting... Definitely would tell people to take from Will.

Best teacher to take for Biol 107. Very helpful. Will let you know where you stand regarding your grades and waht you need to do to maintain them. I got B out of this class.

He is a wonderful professor. This was my second degree, and I had tons of teachers before and after him, but he is one of the few I will always remember! He is great,he will ask you questions he teaches, he will explain the way that it is crystal clear. He shares manyinteresting facts beyond the textbook.

He's a really great guy. Pretty funny. He tells you exactly what he wants you to know for the tests. Class is only mandatory once a week when he does quizzes/tests. Puts all slides that he teaches from on CE6 so you can only attend class when he quizzes/tests.

Great teacher, very straight forward. Everything you need to know is provided in Power Point and on the internet. Test or quiz every class but as long as you went over the power points your good.

Goes straight to the point and definitely helps when you have questions. we never stayed in class throughout the entire class period, we always left early. his exams were all short answer and only like 2 multiple choice questions.

Very easy to understand. He tries to help as much as possible. The tests help you learn a lot more than you think since they are short answer. Really liked the class.

Straube is a very nice guy. I mean seriously, I had him early in the morning and he was always so cheery and happy. I wished I would have actually tried to not fall asleep during his class since it was so early, but his presentations were straight forward and was easy to follow along. His quizzes are not hard too if you study. Great professor!

Fabulous instructor, one of the best I have had--but gives us the top standard info (not dummied down). Very personable, extremely helpful--takes time to relate to students at their individual levels. FUNNY--makes learning interesting and relevant. The students come away learning more than they realized!

This professor is one of the best I have ever had and I have earned multiple degrees. But this is my first venture into Micro. I went from fear to enjoying the subject, all due to this teacher. He is truly interested in students' learning and is enthusiastic. Plus he is a nice guy and funny.

He was one of the best teachers that I ever had. His teaching was very engaging and never hesitated to help anyone out. He was always very positive and threw out some questions on the exams because he realized that he didn't go over it as well. He is an awesome guy! Microbiology was very fun with him and labs got out early and he made it simple.

His class was interesting and was pretty easy! However, his tests weren't so easy, they weren't too hard but he would put more information on the test at times, then he would teach. However he made up for this, and changed the whole layout of tests so students could pass, he made them multiple choice instead of fill in! He cares very much for you!

I would have to say he was the best teacher I have ever had. The class is a tough class, but he made it more possible to be successful. There is a lot of work, but he was very organized in the way he presented it. I ofter think that I would love to retake his class. He was fun, helpful, interesting, and funny. I wish he taught every science course.

EASIEST microbiology professor ever. As long as you come to class and follow the PowerPoint and study those notes, you'll get an A. He does give quizzes every week but they aren't hard. The people that give Straube bad reviews are the ones that never studied or came to class

Great teacher. Some days there are pop quizzes, but the class itself is fairly easy. Show up and look over lecture powerpoints and you'll pass. Tests aren't hard either. Only thing is he gets behind on grading, but otherwise a straightforward class.

I loved taking his class. You get short answer quizzes every week. test every 2 weeks. His lectures are clear just a lot of info, so keep up. 1 project with a partner , and 2 other papers lab was pretty good as long as you study you can pass this class, flash cards essential. He tells you what to expect on tests & quizzes. He's great !!!

I took Professor Straube for Micro lab and he was absolutely amazing. He explains everything so clearly and also makes the class very fun! The only thing I regret is not taking him for lecture too. He's the best!

I only had him for Micro Lab, and I loved him! He is very helpful and cares how we do. Makes Lab fun and when your schedule says a 3 hour lab, we never got out later than an hour and a half (not bad at all) I do wish I had him for lecture.

He cares about his students and their education. He makes everything relate-able. You have to go to class to really makes since out of his power point lectures that he post online. If you have him for lab as well, he's excellent and will refer back to lecture often

Prof Straube is genuinely a great guy. He cares about his material and cares about his students. He's also very intelligent, very funny, and easy to talk to. His exams are extremely fair, though sometimes it might seem like a lot of material. But if you take good notes in class, you'll do great! Lab was also so much fun, thoroughly enjoyed it! :)

Great teacher, he wants everyone to pass and gives you everything you need in order to pass. He also understands that we're adults with other obligations, so he was lenient with late assignments... meaning I turned my case study in almost a week late and still got an A on it.

Take Dr. Straube's BIO 107 class, he is an amazing professor! He is very personable and has a great sense of humor! He uses PowerPoint for lectures and stops and explains subject matter if you are confused. You will have a quiz every Wednesday consisting of 10 questions. If you go to every class and review your material, these quizzes are simple.

Dr. Straube is one of the best professors I've had at HCC. Go to class pay attention to the power point and use the work book. He gives quizzes every week, but they come straight from lecture. Make sure to ask questions about anything unclear to you and you will good.

He is the funniest and nicest teacher I have ever had! Pros: He gives out a lot of extra credit and puts ALL of his lessons on canvas. So you go back and review everything. Also all of the exam questions are word for word from the quizzes. Cons: Lots of studying to do, you wont pass if you dont study and there are pop quiz's almost everyday.

Really enjoyed the class. Excellent professor- knows his stuff. Always available for help or feedback. Exams difficult, but fair. Attendance not mandatory, but required for a good grade in my opinion. Course expectations made clear early on and there were no surprises. I would highly recommend this professor.

On of the best professors I have had at HCC. He is clear and to the point. His lectures are interesting and at times hilarious. He gives some sort of assessment every week, be it a quiz or an exam, so you must show up! Loved his class!!!

Great professor! You can really tell how passionate he is about the microbiology and that the students understand the lab material. Very clear and concise about what he expects from the students, and a short quiz every other class or so on things we learned previously in lab.

Very good professor! He knows what he is talking about. There is a quiz every week on the material learned in both lab and lecture but he tells you everything you need to know so there is no reason to do bad! About 3 other assignments but they are all not that hard.

If i said this was the best lecture instructor that would be an understatement. Dr. Straube was a blessing to have for a summer Microbiology course. Everything that was taught was clearly conveyed and if you do not understand something he will stay after class and even come in on his days off to help you understand. The Man is Great.

I enjoyed his class so much! He is an eccentric person and incorporates his personality into his lectures a lot so it keeps them interesting. He has a clear passion for biology. Get the textbook for this class and you'll be fine, he is an easy grader but make sure you know the content! Also, get the short answer test over mc EVERY TIME! Great class

He is a hard grader. Takes off points for easy things. He does not respond to emails and has taken the whole semester to fix ONE grade. I learned a lot and he was nice, but made me very frustrated...

One of the easiest biology classes I have taken. You will take one quiz every week and he tells you in advance what the quiz will be on. He is a clear professor and adds some comedy in here and there. If you show up, take notes, and put your best foot forward you will do fine. No reason to get anything less than an A. I cannot say enough good about

Great lecturer - keeps Bio 107 in perspective and tells you EXACTLY what you need to know (including what not to bother studying). Tests and quizzes are straightforward and he sticks to his syllabus class schedule. You have to study, but if you do, the class is reasonably easy. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyed my BIOL-107 class. Was nervous about it at first, I wasn't sure how tough it would be, but Prof. Straube makes it really easy to learn. Surprisingly, I was excited to go to class... even though it was at 8 am and I'm not a morning person. Tests could be a little tough, so study. Would highly recommend taking his course.

Straube is a great professor. He is very enthusiastic and teaches absolutely everything you need to know. His lectures go a little slowly in that he tends to pause a lot, but all the information is there and he likes to let the class out early when he can.

Get this professor! He is hilarious and tries his best to get us interested in what he is teaching. Lectures sometimes go fast paced but he posts the powerpoints online which follow with weekly quizzes. Lab never runs for the full time so you always leave early. As long as you study you're fine. What a wonder professor I highly recommend him.

I enjoyed his class. He has so much enthusiasm during lecture although he's a tough grader. The test and quizzes are very easy as long as you study and make sure you go to class because he tells you what will be on there. Lab with him was kind of tough write everything down even if he doesn't it'll help with lab quizzes.

Absolutely loved Professor Straube. He has a real enthusiasm for the course and it made me actually want to attend lecture. Very fair with grading and very clear on what topics will be covered on exams. He explains things in a way that all students can understand, would take him again in a heart beat.

Prof Sträube is the best prof ive ever had. He so is enthusiastic about microbiology and he is a very easy grader. He really tries to help the students as much as possible. The class is based on exams, quizzes and 1 presentation and research paper, which I got a 100 on both. He is very generous, and I learned a lot, I definitely recommend him

Professor Straube is one of the best STEM professors at HCC. He is so incredibly knowledgable and caring and you can tell by the way he teaches that he really cares. His lab class was genuinely enjoyable even though at times difficult. The exams for lecture are difficult, but fair, you just have to put time in and study. Loved his class!

Professor Straube was delightful to work with; he is easy going and obviously loves microbiology. Online lecture videos were well put together and informative. Minimal weekly assignments. Quizzes were open note. Exams were as advertised. Final project on diseases was fun.

Professor Straube taught an easy lab. Always got out early because he explained how to do the activities well and were easy. Read the lab manual well for the quizzes and pay good attention to what you see in class especially under microscopes because a lot of that will be in the lab practical. I ended up with a 98% in the class.

He is a great professor and honestly take his lab. I had fun and he was very nice.

Prof. Straube is an amazing lab instructor. He always let us know what to expect on each week's lab quiz and we were always able to get out of lab early because he gave us straightforward instructions and helped us when we needed it. He likes to joke around/have fun which made me excited to come to lab every week. Overall he is an amazing teacher.
