He really is the kindest person in the world. He was one of the best proffesors i have had so far, who really explains difficult concepts well. Sometimes he does go too fast and starts writing really small which gets to be annoying

The most brilliant man anyone will ever meet in thier life. It's an insult to call his class hard, “Challenging” is a more appropriate word. Nothing is ever baby-fed, he always finds a way to get you thinking. Simply put, Prof. Sweeny is a must for any student serious about Chenistry!!!

one of the best proffs at hunter, he explanes everything perfectly. the only problem is his tests are hard, but he curves them if many people didnt do to well. also, take good notes and you wont need to even look in the book.

the best teacher i ever had in hunter. makes chem interesting without sounding like a smarta**. really knows his stuff and does anything in his power to actually make his students learn and not just memorize. i wish he taught all the sci classes...would make the world a better place

Okay fine, I agree that he teaches good but what the hell when his tests are tough and the grade is not an A? I'd prefer an A

Sweeney's tests are hard and you really need to study for them but he is a really really good teacher. He explains everything until you get it and makes chem interesting. You should definatly take him.

A truly amazing professor. He inspires and helps all his students, and is great with recomendations. His class is hard though, and be prepared to study like you've never studied before. The tests are tougher than MCAT questions, but it pays off when u get a perfect score on the MCAT chem section, and it really was all thanks to him.

Definitely take him. You will have to work hard, but he helps a lot & explains everything very well. He is very fair & understanding too.

I cant stress how amazing this professor is im saying it b/c no matter who you are if your intrested in chemistry or not you will love this professor and clarity i wish i could put a higher rating than 5 b/c he is beyond a 5 same with helpfullness-he is totally up there he is amazing and he loves helping his students..find him and take his classes!

Prof. Sweeney is the best! He explains everything really well. If you concentrate in class and read the textbook, then you will do very well. His test are not hard if u you study. Take my advice...pick Sweeney as ur chem professor.

HE IS THE BEST! He truly truly cares about his students. He is ALWAYS there at office hours and makes extra office hours to help youu! He is very approachable and a nice guy. The material is pretty hard, but if you really try and go to office hours youll do well in the class. Just stay on top of your work!

I did well in his class, but that was after serious study time, and time at his office hours. If you devote yourself to his class, you will come out with a strong foundation of chem. Now i'm almost done with Orgo II, and I can say that I got here all thanx to him. He's also great with recomendations!!!

this professor will make u like chem and he makes it look esay. if u study and add alittle effort you will do fine and know chemistry well. also he also is not a lenient grader.

I think hes a little overrated. Veryy good guy, works hard, pretty funny. You really have to study your ass off to do good in the class though. People come into the tests thinking they know everything and come out failing miserably. Still overall a good chemistry proffesor.

Prof. Sweeney is an awesome professor! Although his exams are difficult, you can still get an A in the class by doing the following: Go to class, pay attention, go to office hours, study hard. Compared to many other professors at Hunter, Sweeney is one of the best! Definitely recommended.

I would just like to start by saying that prof. sweeney makes really understand the concepts of chemistry that needed for organic chem. He is very clear and gives clicker questions that really help. But that doesn't mean that you don't have to study. oH his exams are very tricky so take ur time when you do the,. He also counts your final exam as 70

One of the best professors I have come across. Managed to get an A without ever opening the textbook; dont get me wrong he is hard but if u come to class and hear him and do those clicker questions....youll be good to go..

He is a really nice prof. his exams are easy if you study. easy grader. study and youll do extremley well on his tests.

Before taking this class I hated chemistry with a passion. His love for the subject and how he taught it makes u enjoy it. To do well u need to come to class, pay attention, and study. his tests are tricky but hes an amzaing teacher. u relly do learn. take his class u wont regret it. he is hard but it pays off

Great teacher!!! If you don't understand a problem and ask him about it, he will work it out step by step for you. Make sure you pay attention to everything he says in lecture, it helps a tremendous amount, as well as workshops and practice exams that he posts. Don't be afraid to ask a question! AWESOME TEACHER

Excellent Professor! He really pushes you to work hard, which will pay off for those who plan on taking higher level science courses. Very helpful and willing to make special office hours. Exams are tricky but do-able--you just need to understand the material rather than memorize.

HE IS EXTREMELY HARD AND HIS TEST ARE SO HARD! Avg of class tests are 60, 64 and 70 on 3tests. Doesnt use textbook, hwks are online, his workshops takes 2hrs or more to complete. But he is a nice teacher and will help if you need help. But try to avoid him..

I think Professor Sweeney is an excellent teacher!! His exams may be challenging to an extent but everything he brings was taught in class. His power points are actually from the text book. Maybe if they had read the text book they would have known that. He is also very helpful and tired his utmost best in explaining the concepts.

He's a very good teacher. Very willing to help his students and explains even the stupidest things. The class is a lot of work because to do well you really have to keep up with him and do a lot of problems(other than the hw). His tests are not difficult if you study. You just have to pay attention to the wording of the problems.

Sweeney is a very hard professor, but at the same time he is extremely fair. Yes, his exams are pretty hard but if you go to the lectures AND read the textbook you should be fine.

his previous tests dont matter at all. i did well on his tests like 80-90 but i did not do that well on the final. i ended up getting a c. his grading policy is horrible.

He is, by far, my most favorite professor. He prepares you well for the exams, although his practice exams may not always be similar to what you see on the actual exams. Study, do the homework, do extra problems and his practice exams and you should be fine. I fully recommend him!

Difficult class if you don't put the work in. Pay attention in class, try to do the homework and read the textbook before class, go to recitations. It's a lot of work, but the natural sciences at Hunter all require a lot of work.

The tests were hard, but all multiple choice. All the iClicker questions or practice tests were nothing like the real exams. If you're looking for a good grade, don't take him.

His use of Iclickers was annoying but encouraged class participation. online HW was a bit much but helped with learning the material. much less was gleaned from lecture. but go to his office hours where he gives away his test questions.

His test were fair and he curves a lot and that helps big time if you go to his office hours you'll do extremely good. Good Prof

He has a genuine desire to teach and help the students fully grasp the information which I admire in the man. He also gives A LOT of leeway to do very well in his class, which should be taken advantage of.

Had professor Sweeney for both Chem 102 and 104, he's a great professor. Class is not easy but he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Goes out of his way to help students do good, everything from great lectures, to workshops and he'll even point out what type of questions to expect on the exams. You'll learn so much, definitely recommend

Best teacher, curves test by a lot test are all multiple choice and he drops lowest test score. Gives review before each test. If u go to his office hours you'll get a B+ or A-.

The tests are difficult, there's now two ways about it. That said, he's a wonderfully smart man (Sweeney is) and he's deeply passionate about the stuff he lectures. Could you really ask for anything more than that? I am perfectly content with his teaching ability.

Go to his office hours and you'll get a good grade B-A. Test are all multiple choice and fair. Good Prof. for pre-med

Great Professor. Exams are difficult and wording may lead to choosing the wrong answer. Ultimately, you will leave the course with a deeper understanding and hopefully, a new found respect for chemistry.

You have to study hard and exams are not easy. However, he teaches really well and you'll learn a lot from his courses. I enjoy his lectures and highly recommend him!

BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! very engaging. study and UNDERSTAND his slides (posted on blackboard) and you should get an A or B. never found chem fun until I had him. 1.5 hrs for 18 questions on exams. curves based on class average. he is unintentionally funny, especially his laugh!

He is an amazing professor. He is not easy though. But if you have common sense, you should do fine. Did really well in class. Looking forward to next semester!

Wonderful teacher. His exams are very difficult though and requires A LOT of self-studying. After all, it is a lecture class. Most of the work will be on your own. But he is very knowledgeable and if you go to his office hours, he will always try his best to help you. And like everyone else said, his laugh is highly contagious.

I can't believe I got my B- in this very hard class. Yes I did work hard, and Prof. Sweeney really pushed a lot of material in a short amount of time, but If I did, everyone can do it:) Believe!:)

Sweeney is a good teacher, the material is hard, so come to his class, go through his notes, do your HW (it will help to raise your grade in the end),go through his PRACTICE EXAMS and go to office hours of his TAs'.Kristina is the best !!! see her if you need help. do well on your FINAL !!!

Professor Sweeney is a great professor. He actually gives you chances to pass. However, this class is NOT an easy A. I found it best to read BEFORE his lectures. Take advantage of each part of the class, make sure to do workshops and owl...easy grade boosters.

Sweeney is awesome. It is not his fault the class is so large and in an uncomfortable auditorium, and he makes the best out of it. He is very clear and answers questions in the middle of his lecture. He gives you practice exams, drops an exam, and gives recitation group quizzes and online HW to raise your grade. People who fail his class don't try.
