Totally inept; arrogant
The man is lacking all social qualities essential for living.
Arrogant, lack of social skills

He's a complete tool. He may know what he's talking about but he doesn't teach.

He takes getting used to, nice guy if he likes you. Interesting person, off-colored sense of humor. I enjoyed working with him.
Not a bad teacher, some students just refuse to actually try to learn a lot of material in one semester. Nice guy, and a good teacher.

A good guy who deserves respect. Don't fall behind though . . .
Terzaghi is egotistical, dull, and has no respect for his students.
Wilkes really shouldn't welcome students with such a teacher for Bio 121. He's a tool that flies through notes when one person doesn't pay attention.
Hope you all took AP Bio in high school so you can test out of 102....otherwise you'll kill yourself out of abject boredom and staring at that fanny pack. Looks like he walked off the bus at the Square
Definitely not nice to his students... he even laughs at people when they're wrong. Very assanine sense of humor.

Very knowledgeable and willing to help if you stop by his office. Provides a challenge for students and if this challenge is embraced, students will learn a lot. Need to put a lot of time and effort but the rewards are worth it.

People who don't like Dr. Terzaghi are lazy and not willing to work hard. He is a COLLEGE professor, and teaches COLLEGE information. I understood him and learned alot.

When I first saw him, I thought he was a truck driver. He has a lisp-hard to understand.Moves quickly through material.Tests are hard!!Probably the hardest Bio teacher at WU.He is obsessed with his pet ferret...Maybe if you touch it-you'll do well.
definitely knows what he is talking about, but can't express or explain it well. Treats students with no respect. If you try, you'll definitely learn a lot though.
He is Thee Man. People who don't like Dr.Terzaghi got on his bad side and never tried to get on his good side. He is a brillant professor, who knows more then you can ever imagine about Biology and Life. He is a role model and an inspiration to many.
Does not treat students with respect; has an attitude that he is a biology god and unfortunately it shows. He does find it humorous when students find difficulty understanding material. His labs are extremely long so plan on being there overtime.
pretty tough
He definitely knows what he's talking about, but can be intimidating at times. Try to get on his good side and let him know that you're trying.
When I first saw him, I thought he was a truck driver. He has a lisp-hard to understand.Moves quickly through material.Tests are hard!!Probably the hardest Bio teacher at WU.He is obsessed with his pet ferret...Maybe if you touch it-you'll do well OH BOY!
What you put into this class is what you will get out of it. The material is really hard, and I don't think he explains very well. However, he is trying to weed out the "men from the boys" and I think he succeeds.
His class is not that easy and if you dont know him he can be an ass, but if you go for help or get to know him he is a great guy.
He IS a Bio God and he knows it. He is disrespectful to the kids who sleep in class and don't show the effort, but definitely sets the standard for the level of respect ALL the profs in the bio dept should get. Get to know him, he's not that bad of a guy.
Hard to understand and hear especially if in a big classroom such as stark 101. Watch your cellphone, if it goes off in his class he'll probably flog you, just a warning.
He is a great professor with a "weird" sense of humor that is funny to bio-nerds like me. He aims to actually TEACH you something rather than be a lazy, easy teacher which is why some students don't like him.
A brilliant biologist, but he should only do field study!!stay as far away from teaching as possible!!!he is very hard to understand(lissp)he talks way too fast(most students can't keep up)and doesn't explain things well.and forget about asking questions!
Took for 121 and 226. This guy is awesome and if you don't like him, then you probably already failed out of Pharmacy, like you should have - you lazy tool. Get out of my college. You suck at life. Pharm. D. is made up anyway.
Difficult, but funny.
such an intelligent biologist that he can't relate to anything human. his teaching methods are decent, if you can understand a word that comes out of his mouth
hard class but tests are directly from notes. if u dont get at least a 3.0 u must be an idiot
This man is smart. His class I felt was boring. The most entertaining thing I found was watching his transition lenses change from dark to light when he dimmed the lights. All you have to do is put the time in and you'll do fine.
Dr. Terzaghi is an incredibly intelligent man. The class is challenging because of its fast pace, however, he is a very fair professor. He deserves respect.

Doc is one of the best teachers ever!! He loves his students and his work. His class is really hard, but it is worth taking because he has the most warped and hilarious sense of humor out there!! He is attractive in a seventies**** star kinda way.
He might seem like a mean or scary guy at first, but he's actually funny and pretty interesting. His class does take some studying, but it's not too hard. Tests are on the notes and he goes in the order of the book for the most part.
His class was not that bad overall, it took studying, but tests were very fair. He seems very cocky in class, but if you have questions for him, do not be afraid to approach. Although his Sunday night review sessions are not extremely helpful, they are worthwhile, he finishes what Deb doesn't.
Hard class. It's difficult to understand him sometimes. He's a very smart person but a little ferret crazy. You just need to study a lot !
Great teacher
Bio 121 blows... he hates pharm majors, so watch out... also you can not understand a word he says... at least the content is somewhat interesting...

He's a good professor but very hard to understand and he goes way to fast in a lot of his powerpoints so you miss what he had up there.
Teaches way to fast with the powerpoints, hes not a bad person seems like he cares about his students but its hard to tell when there is like 70 ppl in a class. You have to study cause youll be VERY LOST
Dr. Terzaghi's an awesome professor! His lectures go so fast, but his class is no piece of cake!

Shitload of work. Be prepared to work and study your ass off!
Terzaghi's class is awesome. I enjoy every minute and it really wakes me up in the morning. I mean, who else shoots off rockets and drinks beer in class? ^_^ His class isn't as bad as everyone says. Study hard, go to the review sessions, and you'll be fine. And don't be afraid to talk to him either, he'll listen to you.
I was going into this class hoping for a 2.5 i hated bio in HIGh school, and now i love it. I left that class wanting to learn more. He made it fun. He cant be too easy going in class with 100-200 ppl, its tought, but outside he is very helpful he will go over whatever yo need for the exam without hestiation
Awesome guys, really knows the subject. Highly recommended teacher for anyone willing to work.
Okay! His speaking voice is odd and hard to understand. The intro coarse is meant to weed out people. I graduated before finishing intro to bio. I am in a post-bac pre-med program now. I learned nothing in his class and did well. I am getting the same grades (A+) in my post bac program, but actually know biology. Terzaghi cannot teach well!
This professor has no concern for his students' safety- he has set off illegal fireworks (bottle rockets) inside a packed lecture hall. Frequently talks down to students. Very noticeable lisp makes lectures difficult to understand. Avoid if you can.
Doc is the MAN! His classes aren't easy, per se, but they are doable if you just study. He tests right from the notes, so there's no reason to get anything wrong. He's also a really funny guy and if you listen, you'll notice all the little jokes he drops during lecture. His analogies are amazing. One of the best profs on campus, hands down.
The class was much more difficult than it needed to be, and he didn't make it any easier. Too much material for one test.
He is a complete jerk. Hes rude and angry and he is not an effective teacher. Reading the text is a MUST.
This guy was one of the worst professors I have ever had. His tests are extremely harder than they should be. I studied harder than I ever have for a class and still did not pass. Avoid this guy as much as possible
Tough Class, lecture is incredible hard to understand due to the material and his lisp. Reading the book before class helps. At the very least attend the review sessions and you should be able to pull around a 3.0
Doc is a good guy and a funny teacher but studying ALOT is a must. Tests are practically impossible without it. Go to review sessions even tho they dont help to much. And answer questions or he'll just stand there for the rest of the class getting pissed waiting for one.
This class is not easy, you have to study, but the main thing is to go to Ms. Chapman's review sessions and do the study guides. In this case you'll do fine and won't even have to study a lot on your own. Class is interesting because he incorporates real life scenarios into his lectures and takes time to discuss current research.
He is quite hard to understand due to his lisp, however he is a great teacher. Every test is directly from the notes. The review sessions weren't even needed nor was the book (I've honestly never even taken a look at the thing). Furthermore he is really helpful outside of class. His tests however do require you know your stuff or else.
This class requires its students to actually study, unlike many other college level courses. For many reasons, Dr. Terzaghi is an excellent instructor who can actually challenge his students. The exams are more than simple regurgitation; they require conceptual understanding. Yes, there is an intimidating amount of information. Welcome to Biology.
His classes are always interesting. He makes extremely funny examples...lights firecrackers in class...all of that. Attend Debs review session tho..theyre always helpful
Great professor if you are willing to study hard and LEARN the material and not just memorize it. His class moves very quickly, especially with the powerpoints, but he brings real-life experiences and research into the class. I recommend going to the study sessions and studying LOTS!
So youre pre-pharm or pre-med? Well, the bad news is there's no way of escaping this professor. After an entire semester, I have not seen the man smile once and he is very unapproachable. The tests are difficult but they are doable if you study hard, and the labs are easy (be prepaed to stay the whole 3 hrs though).
One of the best teachers I have ever experienced. He is very helpful when you visit him at his office. The exams test to see if you were paying attention in class. Review sessions are EXTREMELY helpful.
Great teacher. Funny examples and demonstrations. It is a fast-paced class though. It can be tough if you don't stay on top of things. Study hard and attend the review sessions, they really help.
Easy tests if you study and understand the material, make sure to read and answer all the Study Guide Questions he gives you during the week, a lot appear on the actually test. VERY unapproachable, do not try saying Hi to this man he will brush it off, learned that the hard way. Also be prepared for his shorthands, CDK, cAMP, cf, MPF oh my.
Unfortunatly I can't say hes a great teacher for my learning style...I just can't keep up with everything he talks about its really hard...I just can't do well on the tests things that he teaches just don't sink in....
Dr. Terzaghi does a pretty good job at presenting the material...unfortunately that's all he does. He seems very unapproachable, but is actually very helpful if you go talk to him outside of class. Ms. Chapman's review sessions are a crucial part of this class, and so are the clicker questions (bonus points). Yeah, at least the mode got it correct.
Brilliant professor. He clearly knows his material and enjoys teaching it. He initially seems very unapproachable, but if you go to see him during his office hours he will be more than glad to help you. In fact, get to know him. He is a very interesting person to talk to and he appreciates when students take an interest in the class.
GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS AND FILL OUT THE SHEETS, MAKE FLASH CARDS!!!! They are pretty much a 4.0 on a platter! Know them, and you'll do fine on the test. Dr. Terzaghi seems condesending and unapproachable, kind of stuck up and intimidating, go to Chapman if you want help. Some bonus oportunities as well. HARD class.
Terzaghi is pretty much unavoidable. Class can be boring most of the time and the exams are tricky but the review sessions really help and everyone should go to them. This class will be difficult and you will pretty much need to give it your all in order to get a decent grade.
This class ruined my life. There was entirely too much material to study for a test and the questions were much more difficult than they needed to be. Extremely vague questions with answer choices that were so involved and all similar. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't seem to do well on a test. Great way to make you change your major!
Go to review sessions!!! They helped me out and made everything clear. Make sure you try to do good on labs, they will bring your grade up. The first exam is the easiest. The rest get tougher. Keep on top of your material- don't cram cause there is too much to study for the tests.
Yes, go to review...if you dont have a life or family. Teachers should teach you in the class and not depend on another teacher helping the poor confused students.Too much material, confusing explanations. Lectures consist of ppts.and his boring voice. Does not give out notes. My advice is to get notes from a prior student and start studying now.
Unavoidable for every science major so get used to him, he is not that clear with material, but its not overly difficult as it is a general biology class. He does ask some questions that require critical thinking
He is extremely intelligent and his exams are difficult. He is not always clear, but the review sessions help. I prefer him over Klemow.
Extremely intelligent, but expects you to know just about as much as he does. Very tough tests, but if you have taken AP Bio then you will do great. But if not, well good luck.
Class was very hard. However, he provides lots of tools to help you. Answer the review questions he gives you! Go to review...Ms. Chapman is awesome! His Sunday night reviews before tests are only helpful if you go with questions. Overall a good class that requires a lot of work!
Yes, Dr. Terzaghi is a tough teacher, but i have learned more in his one semester class than i have in two years of biology I took in high school. Go to every review session and understand all of his review questions and you should do well.
This class requires a lot of work, but the amount of knowledge you get out of it is incredible. He gives you all of the resources to do good, you just have to put in the time and effort. Review sessions are crucial. Labs are a pain, but manageable. His tests are very well written, and his lectures can be very interesting at times. Great class.
Dr. Terzaghi is the man! Yes his class is difficult, but it is definitely possible to get a 4.0. Review your notes every night and read the textbook, it is a life saver. Attend all review sessions and go see him with questions, he is actually very helpful! An overall awesome and very interesting class.
Dr. Terzaghi may seem intimidating at first and his class is hard, however, as long as you attend every one of Chapmin's review sessions you will do fine. Labs are time consuming but managable.
I feel bad for the freshmen who complained about this class, because they must not have made it any farther. Yes it was hard, but to prepare you for upper levels. Can't thank this guy enough for how much he prepared me for cell/molec, orgo, biochem, anatomy, etc. Put time in, and you will succeed, as with anything.
Great guy and the class is not that tough. I recommend just listening in lecture and understanding the material while you're there. Copy someone else's notes later to reinforce the concepts. Labs are time consuming, but not hard. I only attended one of Chapman's reviews and still got a 3.5; they're helpful, but not necessary for a good grade
Boring class, didnt learn a single thing from the guy other than the fact that he likes Hawaiian shirts. He gives review sheets & 3-4 sheets will be for 1 test. Go to Chapmans review & make notecards of the review questions, only way youll pass his class. Writing notecards out sucks but review a few notecards a few times a week & youll do fine
He assumes you already know most of what he's teaching. If you look around you clearly everyone is just as lost as you are.
This class is definitely manageable. To pass with a 4.0, I went to every one of Mrs. Chapman's reviews and paid attention. I typed up everything she said for each review question and then went back to my room and made flash cards. Review your flash cards as much as possible for the test and you should be fine.
I never understood anything he taught in class which is sad but he's a great person. Make sure to go to the Chapman review, saves you from tears.
For most, this class is the first science one encountered by freshman. To pass, go to lecture, take notes, respond to clicker questions as best you can, and study. GO TO REVIEWS and MAKE FLASHCARDS. This will be what mostly helps you pass. It's difficult, but doable. Take it one flashcard at a time. Understand them, not just memorize them.
Everyone always says how horrible the class is, but I didn't think that at all. Yes, it's a lot of work and can be overwhelming because of the clicker questions, but if you do the work and study, you'll do fine. Make the notecards, go to the reviews, and study with friends!
This is a course that will test if you really want to be a bio major, pharm major, or pre-med major. It is a rigorous course that requires review and study every single day. The content is interesting and help is readily available between tutors, email, textbook, internet, and weekly review sessions. No hidden surprises, all clearly laid out.
Good professor, smart man but a rude, mean guy outside of class. I will not go into details to save this man's name, because he's very intelligent and Wilkes is lucky to him, but I have disdain for him as a person. Make sure you keep up with the chapters as you go otherwise when the test comes you will be super stressed.
Didn't go to any of the review session, studied the day before for a few hours, and still got a 90 average. Quizzes are harder than the tests
His teaching style is fine. His class is hard, but who cares it's college. The only problem with this professor is how he treats certain students. I won't say the group that seems to bother this man, but you'll see it. Just know he's inadequate and you'll do fine in life despite what he says.
This was my first bio class since junior high, so I found this course difficult because you really have to understand the material and be able to apply it for each exam. Sometimes hard to understand/hear him. Boring class in general and was the main reason why I switched majors. Good notes and keeping up with studying will help you pass the class.
He has a speech impediment so it's hard to understand what he's saying. He expects you to not only know the material but also apply it, so get ready for random clicker questions in the middle of lecture about real life applications. I didn't take AP Bio, so this class is a real challenge. He speeds through lectures; I share a google doc w/friends.
Hard to understand. Abbreviation in PowerPoints that he doesnt explain what they are
Review sessions for this class are crucial, without understanding them the course and material will prove to be very difficult. Class is not always necessary If you give someone your clicker, but then I STRONGLY recommend reading the book page by page.
He is sometimes hard to understand. His lectures are speedy but you just have to pay attention and its okay. Took it a second time because I did not do well the first time but you just have to pay attention and study.
I sat in the third row of the lecture hall and still found it very hard to hear what he was saying, he would talk toward the ground and he would never speak directly to the class. This class is very test heavy beware! Although the lab does help your grade a little bit, it doesn't help as much as you think.
Honestly everyone complained about him but I didn't have an issue. Sometimes the test questions would trip me up but overall this class wasn't too bad, he makes you work for what you want. I sat in the front row and had a hard time hearing him sometimes.
I did not have a problem with professor T, he makes you responsible for learning which is what college is about. His exams are tricky but not impossible. MUST attend review sessions. Mostly freshman take his class and are not prepared for how much work they will have to do. Overall a good teacher but tough on exams.
This class came with its challenges, but if you actually try, you will get a 4.0. I came to Wilkes not knowing a thing about biology, went to Mrs. Chapman's reviews and took very good notes, and got a 104, 100, 96, and a 90 on the tests (lowest is dropped) and a 97 on the final exam. He is a very educated man and will answer all of your question.
For some reason AP Bio doesnt count for 121, if you took it its basically just a repeat, I did my chem labs during his lecture, barely payed attention and got an easy 4.0. If you take note in his class make sure you take them fast as he will change slides without warning. Overall seemed like a great guy and does teach whats on the tests.
Yes: the lectures are long, the tests are hard, and sometimes its hard to understand whats going on, but with the resources he provides and hard work, this is a great class. If you took AP Bio, much of the content is just review. So many resources (study sheets, review sessions, tutoring) are provided and I would recommend Terzaghi.
This course is similar to AP Bio but goes into more detail. Go to all of the review sessions. You only need to study the review papers he posts every week for the exams. Make sure to do well on the labs, as the grading system is just total points. The quiz questions are usually harder than the exam questions.
If I could take back one class from my mind it would forever be this class. The tests are completely awful with nothing but trick questions. Ms. Chapman hosts a study session and he uses her key words to trick you and make you fail the exam. The lectures made you fall asleep. I did talk to him and he is a very nice guy, but it was still awful.
Would definitely recommend Terzaghi! Challenging but very willing to help and as long as you attend Mrs. Chapman's reviews you will do amazing! Does not use textbook but would recommend using it on your own to further understand concepts, wish I would have done that earlier. Very nice guy and understands that life happens!
Occasionally tries to make lectures fun by setting of firecrackers or using other demonstrations. 99% of lecture and discussion is typing/writing. Very minimal student participation in class.
Dr. Terzaghi is nice but a horrible teacher for a low level course like BIO121. His lectures and voice put you to sleep. If you need to ask him a question, don't bother because he'll explain it to you like you've already got a masters in Biology. His powerpoints aren't very descriptive so get ready to write a lot all the time. Go to the reviews.
As a freshman (which is when you are most likely taking this class), this class can be difficult. It is designed to transition you into the college atmosphere. If you keep up with the study questions/sample exam questions, watch Chapman's reviews, and know how to apply the material, you will do just fine. Having AP bio in high school helped a lot.
Mrs. Chapman's review sessions are the ONLY thing you need to study for the exams. In total, there's about 8-12 hours of stuff you'll have to listen to for each exam, so give yourself enough time to listen to them ALL. She holds the sessions in person, but I find the recordings also very helpful if you don't have time. Do this and you'll pass.
I honestly loved this class. Even though it was hard, I am really proud of taking this class and getting through it. The professor was very caring and his lectures provided all of the information needed for the exams. I would take this class again!
Terzaghi is ok. He's kind of hard to understand especially with masks, but his class was bearable. Make sure you do the study questions or he will call you out in lecture for not trying on his exams.
Overall, he was a fair professor. Only things he talked about in lecture and lab were on the exams. Make sure to do all study questions to get a good understanding of the materials. Some study questions appear on the exams. Only grades include lab packets, exams, and quizzes on Sunday. Attend all Mrs. Chapman's reviews, they will do wonders!
Very intelligent man, however, he is not very nice outside of the classroom. I know multiple people who've had interpersonal issues with him, both students and professors. Get in and get out, don't expect him to care about you. The work is tough but doable, but really the worst part is interacting with him.
