While the subject material is fairly easy, he manages to make it unclear because he tries to appear clever and witty. I've had two tests so far and gotten the wrong grade on both of them because he couldn't add up the point totals he put down. Overall I'm not sure how he's a teacher, and I've had to tutor people to fix what he's taught them.
he is a cool guy and is actually kind of funny. the material is not that hard. HW does not exist. 4 tests and he drops the lowest one if you are absent 3 days or less. personally i like him.
EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice guy but doesn't explain material well. Doesn't care if you go to class or not, might as well teach it to yourself it would probably be easier that way. Don't take this class if you like things explained.
Totally awesome professor! Take him because he turns calc into something phenomenal. JK but it's super easy to get a C.
Doesn't care if you show up or do hw. His classes are basically just examples of problems in the chapter. He's willing to help (and ridicule some dumb people in class--yeah, he's funny). Not bad if you honestly go over the book and review his study guides. Three exams, one final. Easy.
Calculus is a hard class. I took it in high school and did awful. I didn't do any of the homework in this class. He doesn't collect it, but I did great. It may be challenging if you hadn't seen the material before though. He's a nice guy that you can get help from if you need to.
AWFUL professor. AWFUL teacher...AWFUL at explaining. absolutely useless to go to class..attendance is not mandatory. I got As in calculus in high school and BARELY managed to get a C. He does not teach, he's rude, and doesn't explain anything well. I highly do not recommend.
Class isnt mandatory, but its worth going to, he goes over alot of examples and hes really funny. his tests are short and to the point. I hate math and i have a B in this class. Im not sure why he has so many bad reviews?
Sent from heaven to help me pass calc
Mr. Turner is pretty funny. Pretty good teacher. Doesn't really care if you do homework/come to class. (if you sit in the back, he won't notice at all) Easy material (because it's just algebra). 4 tests and a cumulative final. If you get an A on all 4 tests, you don't have to take the final.
Very nice and funny guy, but goes very fast when going over material. He definitely knows what he is talking about..but that doesn't help you understand it any. He is willing to help if you ask one on one, but most class time if just wasted sitting there not following his speediness, unless you already know the material
Professor Turner is a really nice guy just not a very good teacher. There are 4 exams including the final exam and online hw that amounts up to a test throughout the semester. You either must teach yourself the material or find outside help! If you are not very good math do not take this class!
Turner is such a funny guy. He genuinely cares about how his students do in the class. He moves quickly through class, but holds office hours which are so helpful bc they're usual 1 on 1 since no one takes advantage of them. Four tests, if you get all a's you dont have to take the final. No attendance, but I would go. He makes the class interesting
William Turner is an amazing professor had him last year for calc. Had never taken calc before and ended up with an A in this class. So easy, plus this class makes you think of Pirates ARRR!!!
Basically Turner is the man. He basically tells you the exact test questions, but changes them up a little. He is awesome and hilarious! He is the funniest guy ever wish i had him next semester.. TAKE HIM
Not a GenEd math, but I'd definitely recommend it. He's a really sweet old man and helps you understand everything. His tests aren't too hard and he will help you out a lot. The homework isn't mandatory, but really helps out a lot.
Not the most interesting class, but he will do his best to help you out if need be. Gets off topic very easily too
Really cool teacher. He can get off topic easily but that's cause he's just such a chill man. Take this class, you are guaranteed an A or B. His tests are easy...basically tells you whats on it but changes it up a little. Will def help you if you need it. TAKE HIM! YOU WILL GET A GOOD GRADE.
This guy is useless. He rambles in class and gets off topic easily. He lost an assignment of mine and offered no opportunity to make it up
Professor Turner was easy, he practically gave you answers to most of the tests before them, and drop your lowest test score. Yet, he is not helpful or clear at all, he never really made much sense so I ended up teaching myself everything. Also, the only grades were tests. Not too bad though, I got a B+.
He's a really chill professor, but he rambles frequently and is not that helpful when you have questions. Attendance isn't mandatory, however, he does take attendance sometimes because if you miss less than 2 classes then he drops your lowest test grade!
HERE IS THE TRUTH. This man is the most lenient and generous teacher I have ever had. He gives out over 20 extra credit points, and curved a test by 20 points one time because his wife said "the students deserve it". I made a RATE MY PROFESSOR just to let everyone know TAKE HIM!ATM I had a 90% but thanks to his extra credit I now have 100%.DO IT
Turner is one of the nicest teachers ever. He is very lenient and lets you make up test or quizzes if you miss them. He drops your lowest 100 point average and makes a lot of the tests and quizzes take home. He is easy but wouldn't recommend if you've never taken math before because he goes through the material quickly and doesn't explain it.
Very nice guy! Never taken calc before and I understand most concepts. When I don't I go to the math center or to his office hours for extra explanation, where he is very helpful. Does not check homework after the first few classes, but I recommend them in order to fully grasp the class' content. Very lenient& gives extra credit. Drops 100 pt test.
Mr turner is always on another level, dude is an airhead. For people never taking calc i would say it be hard, i tok BC Calc in highschool but credits didn't transfer and had to retake. tests are 10 questions and its really easy, the hardest test is the last one before the final otherwise the rest are take home. easy A even if your clueless
DO NOT TAKE if you have never taken Calc before. I read the reviews before I took him and was expecting it to be a pretty easy class… wrong. It was so hard. He is not clear and not helpful at all!!! Tests are 10 questions. I do not recommend.
Turner is so easy. Dont get the text book I never did. He is super easy to convince and we had an online test. He tells you whats on every test. Take him
STAY AWAY! He is USELESS! He does NOT make any sense during lecture. He gets off topic way too much. Most math teachers explain step by step what they are doing, well this guy doesn't and expects you to already know what he is talking about. Tests and a few homeworks are the ONLY grades. Save yourself the frustration and take someone else!!
This class is extremely boring but it is not hard. He tells you exactly what will be on every test before you take it. He gets of topic very easily and is hard to follow most of the time but if you pay attention to him the day before a test you should be fine.
He had never taught Math 105 before, and you could. First of class he said he had dyslexia with numbers; pretty much taught myself but he is pretty helpful if you go to office hours. Homework is online, easy to get 100s on them. Curves tests a lot. Funny , good intentions. Wish I had had a more experienced prof. Harder than should have been.
He's funny and nice and talkative, but that's about it. I basically taught myself by doing the online homework; not much reason to go to class.
Can easily get off topic, and does. Can be confusing but will answer questions if you ask. Pushover about assistance on tests. Was convinced to give us a take home test over Thanksgiving break. Very nice guy. Is very helpful and clear when you go to office hours. Need to buy online homework module; IT COMES WITH THE TEXTBOOK ONLINE!
DO NOT TAKE W TURNER!!! You definitely do not need to go to class-you will have the same understanding of the material either way. He is a horrible professor & doesn't teach anything related to the course. He makes the class harder than it should be because he doesn't teach. Online homework is due once a week & is VERY tedious. Avoid at all costs!
You could go to class or not go to class and your understanding of the material would be the same. He funny and talkative but I have a hard time in math and he just didn't teach the material well. Easy A though, 4 test and they are multiple choice.
Dr. Turner is really nice, even though he doesn't always understand what he is teaching and sometimes confuses everyone, including himself. But, if you do the homework, you learn what you need to know... It is not a hard class. He is extremely helpful if you go to office hours, or talk to him beforeafter class if you need help or have questions.
Do all of MyMathLab, it will save your grade!
Turner did not do much in class. Mostly everything (including homework) is online. He doesnt really seem to care about the class or students. Tests were fine but class was dull, disorganized and unclear. Skipped class a lot because like I said its just online homework and the tests (which sometimes he made take home). I would not take him again.
If you want an engaged and interesting teacher he is not the one, he also does not make sense half the time. Turner reminded me of an old substitute high school teacher. But the material is extremely simple and all online. Very easy gen ed math class.
Want an easy GEN ED math take Turner, all the homework is online and he doesn't even count attendance, half of the classes he just rambles about football and other things. If you want to learn math do not take him though as you won't learn anything. If you want your to get your math gen ed over with and pass the class easily, then take Turner.
Turner is a nice guy but a total odd ball and not the best teacher. Classes feel unproductive. The homework is really helpful though because it is on MyMathLab & you can get step-by-step help and you get unlimited tries. Overall the class is not too bad, but don't slack off even though it's tempting.
He's the most scatterbrained person I have ever met. If you skipped every class, you would probably still pass because you have to teach yourself everything while you do lots of homework on MyMathLab. He doesn't really teach, just rambles. It's extremely annoying.
Turner isn't as bad as people say. He gets off topic a lot, but if you go to office hours, he is helpful. Reading the textbook is helpful, and doing the online homework is imperative to passing & understanding the material. Overall, not a terrible class.
Nice guy, but does not teach at all. There are weekly irats and trats which are very annoying.
I've never had a teacher worse than him. The material is extremely easy but he doesn't teach so it's so much more difficult than it needs to be. Everything's in the course packet so you can teach yourself, its just frustrating to take hours to learn concepts on your own that could be taught in like 10 minutes with proper instruction.
The material is beyond easy but he barely teaches so you have to teach yourself the entire course from a course pack. He's nice but it's trash. He takes attendance via team quizzes given every class that you receive as individual online tests prior, but after this, class is solely for questions. Don't take him unless you can teach yourself math.
This class is extremely easy, he isn't the best teacher but everything you need to know is in the course pack. Just be prepared to teach yourself. He tells you exactly what will be on each test. Turner is a great guy but sometimes he gets off topic
Mr. Turner doesn't teach and is very scatterbrained. At multiple times, he left the entire class feeling confused and angry. While the material shouldn't be that hard to learn, he makes you teach it to yourself outside of the classroom, and take a quiz every class with a team. Not a bad class overall, take some else if you have the opportunity!
Professor Turner was very scatterbrained in class, which made it hard to follow his lessons. That is when he actually taught. He curves grades though, and if most of the class didn't understand something/failed the quiz he'll drop it.
He is incredibly disorganized and constantly gets off topic. Also, you will basically teach yourself in this class. Do not take if you want to actually learn something. Other than that it is a pretty easy class.
Turner gets a bad rep because he's a goofy dude but he really isn't that bad. He's pretty funny and if you really are confused and go to him one-on-one he really helps you. If you study the course pack and practice the online homework you will be fine. The class really isn't that hard
Do not take this class unless you want to learn everything on your own. It's frustrating because he doesn't teach he just expects you to learn it on your own. I do not recommend.
Turner's lectures were confusing and often went off in tangents. Tests are easy if you already understand the math he's trying to teach. Webwork is frustrating but helps your grade if you do well on it. There are iRats that you do online and tRats which are group quizzes. I have never felt so lost in a class, I do not recommend this class.
Terrible professor for this class. Never actually taught us the material we had to learn and the quizzes online never correlated with the readings and never curved even if the whole class failed. Take this class if you want to learn everything on your own.
He is a very nice person, but as someone who struggles with math, he's not super helpful. He is accessible outside of class which is nice but during class time sucks. He is very understanding of problems though and is always willing to help you out! If you're good at math it should be easy but I struggled.
Mr. Turner is a very kindhearted individual, however he lacks the ability to teach material to a class. Turner assigns multiple online assignments without describing any of it in the prior class. Assuming that math 105 was going to be an easy course, Mr. Turner's inability to teach a class has costed the grades of the majority of my peers.
Aside from Turner being a funny person, he does not know how to teach a class. He goes off topic a lot and fails to go over critical material. The average grades on the exams are below a 65%. All the material that you're being tested on is material that you MUST learn on your own or else you will FAIL. Do not recommend this teacher whatsoever.
Turner is a very funny and humorous teacher. He makes the class fun and entertaining. The one major problem I have with his is that he doesn't teach anything in class. He expects his students to know everything on their own. It is very difficult to get a good grade in a class where no learning occurs. I do not recommend this teacher for math.
Pretty much every MATH 105 professor expects you to learn the material on your own and it's annoying, but I guess that's not his fault. Lots of group work. Mr. Turner is really helpful if you go to him personally, and sometimes may drop assignments or curve them. But you're going to have to do the bulk of the work.
This class is basically just your group with no teacher. He teaches nothing and you learn nothing so be ready to teach yourself or hope you get a good group. Group assignments almost every class so you can't really skip, and there is a lot of outside work. If you suck at math and need guidance, don't take this class.
Turner does not know how to teach and he expects his students to know the information. I go to class and do nothing but twiddle my thumbs. The textbook is not much help either because it is written by a professor and does not provide examples. Before each class you have a quiz to complete at home that is challenging and webwork is not easy.
Although this class is more self taught, Turner was still helpful during office hours. He was very laid back and funny. I would recommend taking him for math 105 if you are okay in math. Online quizzes were tough but other than that its an easy B.
A little bit unorganized and lectures aren't too efficient. However Turner is a nice guy and will help you get the grade along as long as you seek help and guidance.
Mr. Turner lectures heavily and isn't the best teacher, but it is pretty easy to get a good grade in the class. Attendance is pretty much mandatory because he gives group quizzes almost every class and if you miss you receive a zero; No Makeups! For the final exam he gives you the questions ahead of time, so if you study them you can get an easy A.
I love this guy lol. Hes super funny and really helpful during office hours. Super caring and always cracks jokes during class. This class is really easy if you have a basic understanding of math. The lecture its self isnt the most organized, but the class is enjoyable to go to!
This guy is the BEST. He is super funny and chill. Sometimes it can be tough but if you go to office hours he really helps you out. There is a good amount of homework but it is all pretty easy and helps your grades.
Don't even get me started. Was expecting good things from him but went completely sour. For example, he couldn't see in class and he put on his sunglasses by accident and didn't realize for 15 minutes. He then says "no wonder I couldn't see. I had my darn sunglasses on." Yes, if you want a laugh, take him. If you want to struggle, don't take him.
Turner does not do plusses or minuses. I finished the class with a 79.9, but he is a very nice old man so he raised me to a B. With that being said, he is an adorable person but horrible teacher. You have to teach yourself everything and there is a lot of homework. All of the math 105 teachers are terrible but sadly I think he is the best.
Math105 just sucks and sitting in a math lecture for over an hour is horrific. Turner is such a sweet man and is very willing to work with you. I went to his office hours all the time because I absolutely HATE math but I did very well on all the tests. He's very fair. I would take him again.
Here's an honest review because some of these comments boosting. Turner is a good person and very helpful if you go to his office hours and get additional help when needed. The lectures can be boring and drawn out, but you'll get through it. the only homework you have is the maple TA and WAN quizzes.
Professor Turner is a very sweet man. He is a fair professor and grader. He is willing to work with you no matter if it's homework or test preparation. His tests are not bad if you prepare adequately enough. It is definitely possible to get an A in this class. He gave us a few curves on assignments as well. He is a good choice for Math 105!
The best math professor EVER. He gives a lot of worksheets and is very clear during lectures. He makes things easy to understand, and the tests are not bad. He is super funny and jokes throughout class, but also stays on topic. If you are looking for a good MATh 105 professor, he is the BEST!
Honestly he wasn't the BEST professor but it definitely wasn't a hard class to get an A in. If you do the only homework and the chapter quizzes its just like the exams. I always studied only 1-2 days before the tests and did well on them because they were so basic. Don't even need to show up to class that often because he barely lectures. Easy A
He is a great guy I love his personality and is hilarious. That being said, he is very unorganized. You can easily pass the class just doing the homework and quizes and definitely do not need to show up to class the majority of the time, just for labs and tests. He can also get off topic very easily and honestly I felt like I had to teach myself.
Prof Turner is a really nice man and his class isn't too hard. I feel like I haven't really learned much, but I'm doing pretty well in the class. Lots of easy hw through webassign and easy in-class labs that help your grade.
By the far the best option for MATH 105. 5 exams that are only 3 pages long. Easy A if you study like 2 days before the exam. Final is cumulative but gives you a study guide for the final exam. Labs every other lecture which help boosts up your grade. If you miss a lab, you will get a 0. Homework is once or twice a week. Lecture reading quizzes.
Have a learned much? No. Is he funny & am I getting a good grade? Heck yeah. Tests are pretty much identical to homework, I usually review the day of and get good grades. Have to attend class for labs or you'll get a 0 but if you talk to him he'll let you make it up. Any issue you have just talk to him and he'll work it out. Wants people to do well
Very nice and funny man who cares about his students. Easy homework/reading quizzes and gives multiple tries so easy 100. Tests are straight from homework. Labs every other week but easy and can work in groups. He will work with you for missed work if you communicate. highly recommend!
Professor Turner may be funny to others, but he wasn't really funny to me. He is so unorganized, and I don't understand a word he is saying. I usually don't go to class, but still have a good grade. Friends who go to class tell me they did nothing in class, so I don't go. However, labs are mandatory. Overall, didn't learn a single thing.
Prof. Turner is a HILARIOUS man. He is so goofy and adorable and talks about the most random things. The tests are pretty easy just look at the hw. Not really a good teacher. I skipped class most of the time because he barely lectured. He let us out early 9/10 times. Just show up for lab days because if you miss one you will get a 0. Hw is easy!
I took him because someone else said he was "the best of the worst" and I can confirm this. He always made class awkward by making weird comments. Sometimes I didn't go to class just to avoid whatever weird antics he was gonna pull that day. Most the work was online but there were a few tests and in class labs. Class was very unproductive, too.
Professor Turner is really engaging in lectures, and likes to crack lots of jokes. Teaches math in a "logic based" way that did help me understand math more than memorizing formulas. Tests are the only grades. Isn't necessarily the best professor, but if you do the assigned hw (ungraded) and practice problems, you should be able to pass the tests.
Turner doesn't get the best rep and I'm not sure why. He often rambled off in his lectures, but the content and workload was much easier than I expected- and I hate math. He often extended deadlines for the class when he could sense things were busy. All homework and quizzes are online with multiple attempts. Solid choice and nice guy
He is pretty nice, always extends deadlines. He does the math wrong sometimes but fixes it. He goes over problems in class whenever we learn new formulas, he uses PowerPoint but I'm fine w it because I can write down formulas and notes. The tests are pretty easy, sometimes questions we go over in class.
William Turner is a pretty easy going teacher and will always help the students & gives extensions on homework or will go over it in class. He doesn't grade attendance but make sure to know when you have labs and exams in class. Also doesn't look at his emails that often and his lectures could be boring but he tries to make it fun by cracking jokes
So much homework and chapter quizzes. Almost all the work is online minus the 3 exams. Labs are easy but just a lot of work.
I don't know why everyone hates on this guy. He's a really nice guy and makes you feel appreciated in class. He cracks a lot of jokes. Sometimes he makes errors and strays off topic but that's my only criticism. He gives you SO MANY opportunities to succeed - test content is clearly outlined and extra credit is available.
Funny guy. Never really went to class because I had no idea what he was teaching. Test questions all come from homework and final questions all come from the tests. If you do the homework, it's an easy class.
He's older and can be very unorganized, but he genuinely cares about his students. If you show up to his office hours he'll give you a lot of instruction. Some of his HW is pretty hard though.
He's a good guy but it is very frustrating when the questions done in class are very simple but the questions done outside of class in homework and on tests are much harder. Luckily I learned a lot of this in high school. If not either be ready to teach yourself how to do the challenging questions or have a bad grade
Not that clear of a teacher and the work done in class was easier than the HW and tests. This made it hard to self study and I spent WAY too much time teaching myself how to do stuff. He teaches with the mindset that we understand it already, so if you're bad at math avoid him. He also makes mistakes often WHILE TEACHING which was confusing.

Professor Turner's class can be hit or miss, but if you engage with his teaching style and utilize resources like the textbook and Unstuck AI, you can succeed. His tests are tough but he offers plenty of opportunities to boost your grade.
he's nice and means well, but he often confused himself and would forget what he was doing mid-lecture or mid-problem, which would make following along pretty difficult. there is a weekly hw assignment on aleks that's pretty easy and a good way to boost your grade. all of our tests were take-home, online, and not too difficult.
First off, I am not good at math at all. Second, I think that he's a decent professor, I think he just docent explain things as clear as I had hoped, but he's very kind and generous. The attendance is recommended, you miss 1 or 2 classes you will fall behind and struggle. Lastly, the homework can be a lot and stressful sometimes.
He is a kind and helpful person but is not able to transfer that into teaching. He often messes up mid problem which is hard to follow along and understand. He started using ALEKS this semester and it can be a helpful grade booster but some assignments would take 4+ hours because there was 50 topics ( 3-5 questions per topic). Way overcomplicated.
I feel bad rating him low. He is really funny and nice but I feel like I didn't learn anything from him. If you are a STEM major and need to know the material, avoid him, but if you just need to pass the class and get a grade then he would be good to take. During the semester, you're using ALEKS the whole time for homework and tests.
