Great instructor, alot of fun to listen to. Tests are tricky and long. Grading policy is fairly easy. Be prepared to talk in class, it's a nice portion of your grade.
This guy is a perfectionists and expects his students to be the same. His tests are a bit difficult. I found his lectures very boring and uninteresting
Took both business law classes with him. He's funny and makes class interesting. Never skipped his class. Exams can be hard but if you study and know your stuff pretty decent you should be alright. Would only recommend him for both bus. laws
Professor Volz did an excellent job in teaching Business Ethics. Grades included two cases, a midterm, final. Class size was 45 students. Everyone received a final grade of a B or higher (one B-, one I). I will not hesitate to take him again in future business classes.
Proffesro Volz is AWESOME!! He is well educated and just a great teacher. He is very fair, funny, and uses great examples. Be ready to talk in class he does call on people all the time. I will be taking his second class, I recommend him
Business Law 1, Great teacher! Good lectures, actually teaches you something, and he really knows what he's talking about. Exams weren't too bad if you went to class and did a little studying. Not a hard grader.
Best Professor I have had at WSU. He is well educated and You will actually learn in this class. Highly Recommended if you are interested in an instructor that actually teaches.
Interesting professor who always has a story to tell. Don't let your mind wander, he will notice and call on you. As long as you study and listen in class the tests shouldn't be too hard. He is always willing to stay after and answer questions.
Best Class I had at WSU. This guy is the greatest professor I had. He tells stories and walks up and down the room, I don't understand how anyone could daze off during his lectures. Highly recommended.
Amazing prof. The class is interesting and he has stories to demonstrate every point he makes. He has you make nametags so he can call on you, but it's not that bad.Workload is light, tests are fair. Everyone did well.
Good teacher, keeps it interesting. you can pass with a good grade as long as you go to class and take notes. the assignments are easy too.
I LOVE THIS MAN! best prof. at wayne. the only class that i never fell asleep in and i sleep in every class. makes things interesting and applies them to real life which REALLY helps you learn the material. he made me wanna go into law. easy class. 3 case briefs. 3 exams not cumulative. pay attn in class cause he gives hints to whats on the exam
loved this guy! really good teacher! tests are a little tricky. offers a little extra-credit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!
Couldn't be any easier...don't take Spaulding...VOLZ IS THE MAN!!!!
The man...the legend. Bill Volz.
The guy is great. Really helpful. Case Studies are easy. The only reason I scored a low B is because of my tests. The exams are tricky, but if you study more than I did, which isn't much at all, you can expect a good grade. You will really enjoy this course.
His very enthusiestic about what he does, He wont bore you for 3hrs, and he doesnt give any break. He will help you alot, if you talk to him. The case briefs were easy, and the test a little tricky take time in each question, b/c sometimes more than one answer seems right. Know examples about each definitions.
Volz was a great instructor. Kept class interesting. He didn't really discuss the text much, but make sure you read the book because that's what he test on.
Volz is an awesome teacher. I took business law before and thought it was the hardest class and dropped it. when i took it with volz it looked as a whole new course. He really explains everything and makes sure everyone understands. there are no breaks but hes very entertaining!! got a B only because i didnt study the text much. Study the text!!
Prof. Volz is a great professor. He uses his book alot so you won't feel like it was a waste of money. Even though the class is 3 hours it never feels like it. He's very interactive, and makes the information interesting. Great professor.
I LOVE THIS MAN! He is the best professor I've had here and has inspired me to go into law. he is so funny and interesing. pay attention to the examples he gives in class cause they'll more than likely be on the exam. Volz is awesome. No one I know has regreted taking him.
Bill Volz is the man. Very knowledgeable businessman and attorney, and uses his experience to make the material interesting. He's very helpful and open to discussion. If you show an interest in the class, he'll take you seriously and help you with any issues. If you read and take notes, there's no way you won't do well.
Awesome! Awesome Awesome!! Take this teacher, he is the best!!!
THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. He really explains everything and makes sure everyone understands. Eventho he makes fun of accountants a bit he makes you feel like you do to do better. If you pay attention in class and look over the book (mostly at the case studying and what they highlight) you will do great. A pleasure to have as a professor.
Absolutely wonderful Prof. he explains things great, gives a ton of examples. read the book, that's what he tests from, and participate in class, it'll help out your grade.
Great Professor. His stories, humor and sarcasm were well worthwhile attending. The topics we discussed in class were very relevant to today's ethical issues in business. Not only was he a great listener, he encouraged class participation and was enthusiastic. This was my favorite Professor and favorite class in MBA school!
Very interesting and knowledgeable. Keeps class fun with his stories and sarcasm. I learned quite a bit. Overall, a very good professor.
Good teacher, pretty easy, just pay attention in class and read ch,apters.
Great professor. I would take every class he taught. He kept class interesting and entertaining. You must go to class, because he likes a lot of participation. Two exams and four case studies, which were all fairly easy.
For Bus.Law 2...the guy shaves his mustache...and i'm thinking well wtf? However, he was just as entertaining and knowledgeable. Go figure.
Great Professor. Loved the class. Got me to love business law. Will take again any chance.
His class is interesting however they won't be lectures primarily case discussion. There are 2 exams (midterm and final) and 4 cases. Exams are based solely on the book and cases. Great guy and great course.
Great Professor!! He kept something seemingly boring very interesting. He's very funny, down to earth, and you'd never know that he's a Harvard grad. He offers extra credit and if you make a strong enough case about an exam question, he'll award an extra point for a good argument. Take his class! :)
Great Professor! The class was very interesting and the time always flew by. 2 exams, and 4 short case studies are due during the semester. Everyone I know that took him has gotten an A. Read the book & you'll be fine.
Definitely expects effort but rewards for good work. Knowledgeable, intelligent, yet still fun.
This is one of the bedt professors I've ever had. The book he uses is an easy read, he's intelligent and witty and gives back grades super fast. As long as you do the work and participate in discussions, you can pass with flying colors
Bismillah, Dr. Volz is a cool and friendly instructor. You will have to mainly do 4 SUPER easy marks case studies and two exams. The class is very easy if you were looking for a ?B?. For an ?A? you need to read each chapter (around 22pgs/ch). Make sure you add a website in your references for the cases. May Allah make things easy for you
Great prof. Encouraged discussion a lot. Fair grader. Knows his stuff and makes class interesting
Great professor. Makes classes fun and interesting.Exams are hard, but nearly not impossible. 3 students had As in my class. Uses the book heavily. Knows the material and how to share it with students. Very helpful. Would recommend him for this class.
Great professor. Loved the class. He keeps discussion going and gets you involved even if you know nothing about the topic. His tests are a little difficult but if you get a good study habit down you'll do well. I recommend reading the chapters for the tests before class as a review but also focus a lot on his notes!!! Good luck!
Okay, he's cool. He's a nice guy and his tests aren't extremely hard if you study. The only thing I have against him is that he lives in the stone age. His lectures aren't on PowerPoint. He has the clear projector sheets. He can also stray off topic into his own legal cases sometimes. Overall, I would take him again if I could.
Proffessor is good and he's pretty funny. Makes class go by quickly and enjoyable. Exams are tricky. Read the book. One of the better professors I've taken at WSU. I highly recommend taken the class with this professor!
Lots of discussions in his classes and always makes people participate in at least one of them. There were 2 exams, 4 "presentations"/papers and 2 other easy assignments. He keeps the conversations interesting and he's quite humorous. Must read the textbook. Highly recommend him!
Prof Voltz's "war stories" from when he was a lawyer are reason enough to take this class! Voltz does a great job of pulling in current events and relating them to course material. Exams are tricky but fair; YOU MUST READ THE BOOK. When he discusses a topic and remarks "That would make a good exam question" write it down-hes predictable. I learned
Very nice guy who treats you like a person rather than a number. Be prepared to hear the words "Is that making any sense?" at least 16 times a lecture. Still a nice guy, but you must participate!! Participate, do the briefs and extra credit, read the vocab before the test, and you'll pass with flying colors.
He is a really great instrutor. I took the web version. Only 5-10 min lectures. Must read book and stay up tp date with discussion boards. Tests consist of memorizing key theories. I would not recommend taking this course with anyone else but him.
GREAT TEACHER, really dont need the txtbook the slides are pretty thorough, knows his stuff and keeps the class interesting!
This professor was great. He is easy and clear about what he wants. Read the chapters and you will get an A.
Textbook wasn't needed with his class besides for case studies, but you can find those online. He has a dry sense of humor, but I found him very entertaining. He keeps you interested and gives you all the info you need to know on his power point slides.
Great instructor. Class is fairly straightforward. As others here indicate, you must read the textbook to pass the exams. You have no chance to pass them if you don't! Case presentations and other assignments are fairly simple, just make sure you submit everything on time!
Volz is the best professor at WSU in my opinion. Yeah, I got a B+ when I worked for the A, but honestly, I learned more in this class than in any other course at WSU and I'm a junior. I will miss his lectures and stories so much. He is legit the best professor if you want to learn. Since he only gave 1 A and 1 A- out of 70, I will say he is hard.
Volz is genuinely one of the sweetest, entertaining, straight forward professor I've had. He knows his material and he is also hilarious. Get used to his favorite few phrases you'll hear every 5 minutes (ex, "Is this making sense?") Haha. I would say book is not needed but PAY ATTENTION. He is amazingly helpful but difficult. You will learn a lot
Class is made up of 3 tricky exams (final isn't cumulative) and 3 easy case briefs and 3 simple extra credit. The exams will kill you if you don't study/pay close attention. Volz is completely amazing. I hated law but he genuinely makes the class interesting. He's extremely kind/reasonable if you need any help, ask. He will help! Recommend for sure
Definitely recommend Professor Volz, he's nice & helpful. 1 quiz, 3 exams none commutative, 3 case briefs & 3 extra credit opportunities. Attendance was only mandatory when case briefs were presented. Slides are provided which have an outline of what you need to study. If you read the chapter, come to class & reread the chapter you will get an A.
Prof Volz went to school at MSU, U of M, and Harvard. That being said he doesn't hand you anything. If you study hard and show up to class you will get a good grade. Attendance isn't mandatory but he recognizes the people that are there. He gives great story lectures and keeps class interesting. Really enjoyed him this semester and recommend him.
Professor Volz is funny! Love attending class. Test questions are a little difficult in my opinion, especially for a 2000-level class. Lectures aren't horrible though and if you make enough of an effort you can get an A.
LOVE VOLZ. Best prof I've had at Wayne. Actually considered switching to law after taking his class. Lectures are interesting, not totally necessary though. Don't really need the book, just borrow one from the library or somebody if you can't find the case studies online (which you probably can). Just study for the exams & you'll be golden.
Best Professor i've ever had! Loved his class.
Professor Volz is a great guy with a good sense of humor. Classes are very interesting. The only downside is exams are very difficult. All in all a great teacher, my favorite Professor at Wayne State.
Go to class everyday and sit in the front. Get to know him. I did not really study for the tests and got a did poorly on them. However, because I spoke in class, he gave me a final grade of a B. Just participate and you will do fine.
3 papers, 3 exams, 3 extra credit, class participation. Lectures are amazing and hilarious. Must go to class. He will make students as examples, he likes you to have a name tag on your desk. class participation is easy, eye contact and laugh at his jokes. Exams are multiple choice. Buy the older book. save 100's.
Volz is amazing. Very funny guy, a genius in the field (and well established) and gives great lectures. Always there for you. Book can be found online. Tests are pretty tough stuff, you need to read and really understand the material to succeed. The class is no cake walk, but Volz makes it very enjoyable. Easily my fav professor. Simply a must take
Mr. Volz is a great teacher and even better guy. Makes class entertaining and is really knowledgeable on law. The class is not too bad as long as you do your briefs and study a little for the tests. You should be able to get a "B" as long as you put in some effort.
Easily my favorite professor at wayne state. You need to study a lot for the exams. It's not an easy A. But Volz does a great job lecturing. The class is hard. As long as you pay attention in class and keep up with the material, you'll be fine.
His sense of humor is great and makes the course even more enjoyable. The lectures are hilarious and really get you engaged in the material. Overall the class wasn't too difficult, if you pay attention to lectures and skim through the chapters before a test you should be fine.
Great professor, keeps class interesting.
Business Law is hard. With that being said; If you do have to take it, take it with Professor Volz. Passionate about the class, and although he's challenging; His lectures are amazing and is entertaining all the way through.
Volz is my favorite professor at WSU, by far. Law can be hard to grasp at times, but he makes the lectures incredibly relatable and engaging. His sense of humor is through the roof, which makes the class that much better. His lectures are only guidelines, to understand the material fully, read the book. I 100% recommend Volz to any student.
Professor Volz is a great professor. He is extremely credible in his field. He even has some of his work in the Supreme Court. His lectures are funny but you also learn a lot at the same time. He cares about all his students. The class is not very much work but the tests are important. Go to the lectures and try your best and he will take notice.
Volz is an awesome professor. Tests are the most difficult thing in this class, so be sure to study a ton for them. Case briefs are graded easy. He offers extra credit that is so easy that you better do it. His lectures are funny, but can talk about sensitive topics, which triggered some people, but still hilarious. Loved his class.
He's a great guy but you don't have many things to get points so you have to do well. He says a lot in the lecture that's on test but still gets off topic a lot and you have to go do some reading.
Volz is a beauty. Class is very engaging and he makes learning fun.
Volz's class is very engaging and he quickly goes through the chapter in the beginning of the class and the rest of class is just going through the cases that people were assigned. He is an easy grader on the cases. There are only two exams and you will need the textbook to study for it.
Professor Volz is hilarious and makes a somewhat dry subject fun! As long as you participate and pay attention, you can get a good grade. Not a whole lot of work to do and it is not the most difficult, but I did learn a fair amount.
Volz is a great guy. He makes law super easy to understand and is hilarious. Negative sides-- we don't go over tests, so you don't know what you're getting wrong. But he always gives opportunity for extra credit. Don't buy the book, everything you need out of it you can look up online!
Volz is awesome! He is hilarious and also gives really great examples and straightforward lectures. You'll be entertained but you'll also learn a lot. I definitely recommend this professor
Very straightforward class. Take your notes and study up, buttercup. Great guy to listen to and to get feedback from.
His lectures are so enjoyable and hilarious, he's a really great professor. The tests are pretty tough though, studying from the book is probably your best bet. There's only three papers, three exams, three extra credit opportunities, and some participation points. The course isn't too heavy with assignments which is helpful.
One of the best not only does he love the material he gives so many examples of what the concepts are. The class was really tough 1/3 of the class dropped after the first exam and i can't blame them it was hard and if you didn't read the book good luck in the class. 3 exams 3 case briefs not much for homework but for what he gives you will work.
Professor Volz is a good and very fair professor. He is funny in a way and gives good lectures. His lectures can be a bit boring some days. He grades off three tests, three pieces of homework, and a quiz, so study for those tests they make up a big part of your grade.
Professor Volz is one of the professors that I hope never retires. He is so full of knowledge and experience that his lectures are engaging and entertaining, rather than dry and boring. He never drags out class for the purpose of going the whole time, but participation in the class will be so involved that you should expect to be there. BOOK NEEDED
Professor Volz is a great professor, He will occasionally get off topic but it makes the lectures bearable....I was worried about passing because he only actually bases your grade on exams, case studies and a couple extra credit assignments, which you SHOULD DO. They're easy but they will bump up your grade and show him you want a good grade!
Hes really funny and makes a boring subject interesting. But the tests are ridiculously hard and the readings for the book are incredibly long so studying is insanely difficult. You should also study from his PowerPoints. His tests are scenarios and critical thinking. Good luck but youll need to spend a lot of time to get a good grade
Definitely a hard class, but Professor Volz is hilarious, caring and made the class bearable. The tests are extremely hard and make up a majority of your grade, so get ready to read and know the text book verbatim.
He goes very in depth that you lose track of what he is trying to explain BUT his power-points and reading the text book will help you a lot. I did Not try as hard as i could have because sitting in lecture and listen to him talk for hours is a no go for me. Class worth 100 points TOTAL. Study hard. Very very nice and smart guy.
Professor Volz is a really nice and smart man. He makes us laugh throughout the lecture but it still is very long and he tends to go the whole few hours. Make sure you have plenty of details in your case briefs to receive all the points. Exams are based on scenarios which involves a lot of critical thinking and they tend to be very hard. STUDY!!!
Prof. Volz is one of the nicest professors i've had until now, very calm and easy going. What is expected of you is to show up, voice your opinion about the topic at least once during the lecture, read the chapters, couple of papers during the course and that's it. Exams are based on the reading, so really READ. Good course for summer semester
No homework,3 cases you need to present. Exams are based on the slides and general reading from the text book. He does a lot of scenario questions to make you picture what hes asking which is helpful. He explains the legal material in a way a child would understand. You also have to ask him for your grade. Super easy if you just try.
I loved this guy! He's super smart and experienced and you can tell. Lectures are engaging and entertaining. Graded by a 3 case briefs and 3 exams. Do the extra credit, read the book and take notes. I never read the book but I did for this class and reading the chapters made the exams a piece of cake. Participate in class and he will love you.
Great professor! I honestly went into class everyday engaged in the lectures. Would highly recommend
Lectures are pretty dry and boring. There are 3 case studies throughout the semester that are easy. He gives some extra credit which is nice. Tests are difficult and very lecture based. He gives somewhat of a study guide for each exam. Make sure to study a lot in order to pass the exams.
Volz is amazing! He really wants to see his students succeed and is so kind. Tests are sort of difficult, so study a lot. There are three extra credit opportunities to bring your grade up. Case briefs were fun and interesting to do. Your grade is only based on a few things, though so try hard in his class.
Best business law professor! 3 case briefs, participation, and 3 exams. His lectures run the whole class time but they are super informative and helpful. He explains everything in depth and in easy terms. Exams are the bulk of your grade. Read the book, take notes, attend lecture, do the briefs and extra credit and the test will be easy.
2.5-hour lectures are super boring and he doesn't give a break, but he's super nice. Assigns no homework but if you want to pass you better read the chapters and study. Tests aren't that hard if you reread his slides and really understand the concept. During lecture, he lets you know what will be on the test so pay attention.
Professor Volz is an expert in his field and he is such a great professor. He's made this semester fly by. Every class has been interesting and engaging. One of my favorite profs in the MISB so far. Absolutely take him if you can. Textbook required. Short, easy assignments and two mostly multiple choice exams.
Had him Winter2021, cool laid back guy, lectures are heavy and boring. He responds back quickly and is very understanding. Only issue is there's too much to memorize for the exam and that'll get you if you don't focus.
I want to like this guy but I just can't. Not having homework in college is a dream but I WISH we did for this class. There are only 3 assignments (case briefs) and 3 exams that's it. The lectures are boring and long and hardly discuss the content discussed on the exams. He is nice but expects the most out of you.
Professor Volz is the best professor I've had at Wayne. He has a ton of life experience and is great for any advice in general but is a fantastic professor and I have learned more than I can hope for within his course. I will definitely take him again if I am given the opportunity!! I can't recommend him enough!!
This professor is very nice and funny but you only will be graded by a few things. The exams are very hard and are the majority of your grade. Take advantage of the easy E.C.
3 exams, 3 law briefs, 3 extra credit opportunities. Very easy class if you pay attention in class. Taking notes is key. Overall a wonderful professor. You might even want to become a lawyer after taking the course!
Professor Volz was so nice and entertaining. He had funny stories but would get side tracked a lot so the lectures would run for the full 2 and a half hours which was tiring. The class had 3 case briefs and 3 exams. He have 3 extra credit assignments that were worth one point. The exams were kind of hard but he let us use notes and online textbook
Professor Volz is a good teacher and isn't too strict when it comes to grading. But, the exams are very difficult so rememeber to take lots of notes and STUDY. The exams are worth the most points. There's also 3 case briefs and 3 extra credit assignments worth 1 point each.
Prof. Volz was a very caring instructor. He wanted you to get assignments in and sent constant reminders. 3 exams total that count for majority of the course grade, so TAKE NOTES!! 3 case briefs that weren't hard and extra credit assignments worth 1 point each. The exams were open book, nevertheless make sure to prepare adequately.
very respectable and understanding, passionate about his work. i would take another course with this professor
His classes are more lecture-based; I often find myself chuckling at his comments as he is a funny guy. You will benefit from paying attention during class, taking notes, and skimming over the chapter. He offers very few assignments, with a emphasis on tests, so make sure you study! Allows open book during exams. Definitely would take him again.
Volz was truly incredible and the long lectures were worth going to because he made them so informative and interesting. Offers easy EC, just attend lectures and take notes and you will be fine. Tests get increasingly difficult, they are open book but be ready. 3 case briefs are easy, just follow the examples. Super interesting and caring guy.
