He lets you remake your essays to get a better grade. He has depression so he can get a little emotinal sometimes. But he does let you state your opinions in class decussions. Shows cool movies, and the books are not that bad.
I LIKED EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM EXCEPT THE FACT THAT HE CUSSES LIKE CRAZY! HE'S VERY SYMPATHETIC AND DOWN TO EARTH. I REALLY LIKED HIM. WHEN U TALK TO HIM ABOUT UR PROBLEMS, HE DOESNT THINK THEY'RE BS, HE'S ACTUALLY COMPASSIONATE AND CARRING.
I will agree with the other posters.A deeply caring guy who cares genuinely for students and respects his students. I was awed at teh respect he showed to the few senior citizens who was taking the class. Great guy, great class. He is the best there is
he is the best proffesor i had. very friendly and down to earth.
The best english teahcer ever. He makes the class very interesting. Easy greater. Speak-up in class, make sure he knowes you, go to office hours. Very friendly guy, with good sense of humor.I loved his classes. Would strongly recommend to anyone.
he is a great teacher, makes subject interesting.Helpful, with a birliant chareacteristic. Too easy to pass.
LOVE HIM!!!!
i totally agree with everyone here. he's the best and I love him too. he's into the movies we watch in class. and essays are based on movies seen in class and novels required. how can anyone not pass his class?
May be funny> probably why students like him, but is a crazy lunatic!Uses profanity a lot in class! Really embarrasses you if you do the slightest thing wrong or rude, or be in anyway disrespectful to him (come to class late, not show up first day, cell
THINGS YOU canNOT do:be tardy, abscent(esp on 1st day),make stupid excuses for anything, blow bubbles of gum,not follow the reading, not bring ALL materials to class,be lazy, walk in late through the front door. IF u DO any of above and he WILL embarrass U!
THIS IS THE MOST RIGOROUS COURSE I HAVE EVER TAKEN. I have never worked so hard for an A in my life. I have taken easier and better teachers than Wallis. Stay away from Wallis if you don't want to do a lot of work. It's really kick back in class. You just do the most work for homework.
Makeyour life easy and just avoid him.
He's a really nice and interesting person. His class was really fun and not hard at all. Just do the work and you should do well. He lets you do rewrites for essays. I watched many good movies in his class.
He's a really tough grader, but he will let you redo essays for a higher grade, so it's not impossible to get an A. However, HE ASSIGNS WAY TOO MUCH work!! There is a lot of reading AND writing. If your busy and don't have very much time to concentrate on your Eng 103class, don't take Wallis.
damn easy teacher... but he is a little crazy...
William Wallis is the most passionate professor i have ever had. His opera class is easy and fun. He is over all a easy and great professor. take his class. If your an English major take him, and if you not still take him.....EASY classes.....great professor......
BEST ENGLISH TEACHER AT VALLEY HANDS DOWN!
I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR!!! I am grateful that I took the creative writing class with him. He's the reason why I'm doing what I'm doing now.
who are you people? Wallis may be a nice guy, but he is NOT a good teacher. I did not learn ANYTHING from him. He rambles on and on about things totally unrelated to English. If you want to get a good grade, just earn brownie points by visiting him frequently and reading his work.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. I LOVED his class...
Amazing professor. It is rare to see such a level of sensitivity. If you follow his essay gradings they help you to become a better writer... the subjects discussed in class are at times really interesting - they get you thinking...
he was sleasy i was uncomfortable around him when he was close, kind of like a stalker. But he was a good teacher.
was I in the same class as these people?I think it started when he said he wanted to be with all of us.. creapy brrrr.
take any class Professor Wallis teaches, he is the easiest English teacher at Valley. He hardly gives any work. He loves teaching english, you can tell. He is one of those teachers who actually wants his students to learn. He wants to see his students suceed.
Fun to learn english. I didn't have to stress just to understand. I can learn so much from doing so little.
his night class is cool each opera is like escaping into a dream. even at my most tired i couldn't miss this class

great professor!!! take this dude. made me love opera!!!
He is the coolest English treach I have every had you really don't do that much work in his class he is so out going loves to tell stories which is cool number one english treacher every one should take him. I had him for three english class and got a's in all three of them. He is so awsome.
He yells at us alot. I wonder if he is just nicer in those other classes. I don't think he likes us as students very much. I think he is very full of himself and on a high horse.
Slackers stay away. You have to show up, and you have to do work. Take notes because he makes you turn in a portfolio. He refreshingly unjaded as professors go and is huge on class discussions. I like him mightily and reccomend this class.
Don't listen to the guy that can't even spell creepy. Wallis is the best English teacher I have had at Valley. Nothing short of AMAZING!
This is one of the best teachers for english at Valley. Easy and fun, as long as you put some effort into the work in that class, you should be fine.
This is a professor who really wants you to learn. He explains everything very clearly!! I highly recommed him!!! He is always avilable to his students, he even gave us his cell phone number!!!!
not recommended. in order to do good, you must get on his good side, suck up, and be emotional. i'm an A student, and after alot of hard work, i got an A. he dosnt read your essays except the 1st paragraph and just grades. dissapointing. but again, if your on his good side, and a really good emotional writer, then not bad.
Very Fun. AVC students should make a trip just for him. Just read as much as possible, do a one page essay for each book, get it graded then put in folder for the final. No Exam!!! Impossible to go below B or fail if you do the work. No exams.
He is a good teacher...if you are on his good side that is. If you are on his bad side like I was, then prepare for the worst. Try to write positive and optimistic papers in his class because if you don't, even the perfect paper will end up being a "C."

stay away from wallis-he's totally unprofessional. he's funny and a good guy and everything, but he was the worst teacher i've ever had. u do a ton of work and don't learn very much from him in the end. he's strict and expects so much out of you, yet fails to be a good teacher. don't take him!
Prof Wallis is a very passionate teacher. He truly enjoys teaching and therefore students are motivated to learn. There is a lot of reading involved, yet if you analyze good and write semi-short papers, you will succeed. He is funny and pushes hard those who want to move upward and forward. Are you one of those people?
very interesting and thought provoking teacher, I would highly recommend him to anyone. Definitely plenty of reading & writing. He is very passionate about teaching and you can learn alot from him. Just don't be late and try your hardest. Fair grader! And I would say he is Hot...for his age!!!
He's annoying, still stuck in the hippie era. Snotty and thinks he's a good writer, but he sucks. His essays in his book just go on and on and on. There is only one good thing about the book is that it will be put to sleep. Take someone else.
DON"T BE SO MEAN.He is a good writer,I like his essays and his poems. But he is a hard teacher.
This professor is willing to help you if your not understanding the concept of writing essays. I definatly would recommend students to take Eng 101 with him.
This guy wasn't nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for nothing. No, he's not easy, but college isn't supposed to be easy. The class challenging, but also really rewarding. I learned alot about poetry, I would take him again.
He is very nice and only asks that you try your hardest. Makes Opera interesting! Do all of your assignments and follow along with him and you'll be just fine.
he isn't clear on what it is he expects. He does not answer questions, and may make you feel bad for asking. He is passionate, but overanalitcal. He doesn't belong at a community college maybe at yale.
This professor is a creative thinker, and very passionate about teaching. Participate in class and he will be willing to help you. Show interest in his class and he will extend his knowledge. This professor will motive you to seriously improve your writing.
Opera as Lit is an introduction to opera and it's wonderful stories. Wallis' translations of the opera are much better than the labreto, listen to the lectures! The class deserves more then just get by assignments for real full enjoyment, regardless if you're looking for easy or a true challenge this class has something to offer.
He is strange, some days he is happy and others you better dont get next to him.....If you read and write all your papers you get "B' or "A"
Read, use oppions in your writting and you will pass the class. This class was so easy it was boring
Not creappy at all, haha. Great teacher but not very direct in what he expects from you. Usually understanding but expects a lot dedication from his students, possibly more than should be expected from community college students with limited amounts of time, esp. those that have to work as well as go to school. Take his class if you want to learn!
Do not recommend. Sells books but never use them.He is confused most of the time. A lot of reading and essays.
dr wallis is very unclear on what he expects from his students. he can be very moody and depressing. i feel he grades very inconsistenly. overall, not an awful teacher but not great. i didn't learn much from him.
stay away from this teacher. he is unorganized, confused about what he expects from his students and has a nasty attitude. his pretentiosness and ego get in the way of his actual care for each student. he is very rude outside of class and not clear in class. defintly i do not suggest this class
What I liked about Wallis was that he was very insightful. He has some opinions that i agree with and some that i don't, but he was an interesting man. He isn't really clear what he expects from students but that is because he wants creativity and will except anything as long as you don't BS on it. Challenging but doable
Dr. Wallis is a true prof., he is truly dedicated to the welfare of the students & his very knowledgeable. Indeed, he gives a lot of work, but the students need to realize that they’re in college & not in H.S. anymore. I recommend him only to those who take education seriously, believe me u will not only be satisfied but u will learn much from him!
He's erudite. You'll learn a lot in his class and he's fair.
Dr. Wallis is one of the true Valley College intellectuals. Through him, you'll really learn to read, write, and think critically. If you're into coasting through, he's the wrong professor for you. The course is a substantial amount of work, but it's worth it. He's very understanding, and allows for the revision of any paper you submit. Take him!
He demands alot from his students and if he doesn't get what he wants, he will blow up and make you feel like an idiot. Expect to feel belittled most of the time, but he does help you become a great writer due to the revisions. Make sure you catch up with the reading and the journal entries. All in all, beware but get rewarded at the end.
Can be really rude at times for no reason at all. Class involves a lot of reading (typically things he has written).
I honestly did not take his class, but I had to buy 6 of his books and listen to him speak to my class twice, and that was enough for me to realize that he is both a bad writer and just a bit creepy. He blew up at us in class, seemed to be having war flash backs and quite frankly just made the majority of my class feel creeped out. Horrible writer.
Professor Wallis is truly a great teacher. He's funny, intellegent, sarcastic and interesting. It's not a "typical" English 102 course. This is a good thing. I don't think there is another class like this one. In his class, you study about angels. You read about them, watch movies about them, etc.. How cool is that? Take this class!
This teacher is brilliant! Requires a lot of reading. As long as you do the work with effort you should get a good grade. Don't save everything (as in journals) for the last minute!
One of the most brilliant people I've ever met. He teaches deeply intellectual classes, and to say that he grades fairly would be the understatement of the year. He has a general concern for his students not shown by most professors. High emphasis on critical thinking, and sees right through BS papers. Given the opportunity, definitely take him.
Interesting man, great professor. His teaching style is intense. He likes to chalenge his students. He is fully engaged with his class and brutally honest but quite nice when you get to know him. This class has a lot of reading. Plan in advance the required papers and try to keep up with other assignments. Several extra credits easily earned.
Warm-hearted yet self-absorbed. Eccentric yet grounded. Arrogant yet docile. A paradox of a man. A hell of a professor.
He is a great guy who will help you love what he is teaching. Very warm hearted, very experienced in life too. Take him if you want a fun class. You will learn a ton from him on a human level too. From the first day I met him I have wanted to try to treat people half as good as he does. An inspirational guy.
I took Dr. Wallis for English 103 and never worked so hard for the great grade I received. As long as you try your hardest, and listen to what he tries to teach you will learn a lot. Be prepared to read a lot and one good thing is that he allows you to rewrite most of the essays assigned. This was my favorite class so far.
Mixed feelings. He's very enthusiastic about his work and and you feel a genuine appreciation he has for his students, but spends most of the class on his own books which you want to burn by the time the class is over. If you are an English major, good class, if not, be cautious. Relatively easy A if you're a smart cat.
VERY GOOD TEACHER! Hes very passionate about what he teaches, very helpful, not much homework, no tests, GREAT CLASS!!
I have taken many english teachers, and hands down DR.WALLIS is the best. his teaching method is different, but memorable, about 4 essays that are rewritable truely cares about the students, will know ur name a year after taking his class.Take This prof.
Dr. Wallis is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Interesting and fun classes, easy reading and work, and lots of personal communication. This is one teacher I will be friends with throughout my education and career. If you're an English major, you must meet him! He really cares about his students and will help you in any way he can.
Ill agree with the comments on mixed feelings and how he seems to be a walking paradox. I want to like him, he seems like a good person and for the most part he is, but he's just too judge-y at times. He's not the best in his field but he's enthusiastic, even if bitter and close minded. Overall, an OK class, easy A but left a bad taste in my mouth.
The class was interesting and some of the reading is based on his life which makes it easier when it comes to writing papers. Be on time to class and don't leave in the middle of his lecture. Punctuation is VERY important to him. Overall good professor!!
Dr. Wallis is a great teacher. He has a true passion for opera and that is clearly evident in his Opera as Literature class. Going in I knew nothing of Opera, and came out with a delightful experience. Dr. Wallis is very personable approachable. I enjoyed his class immensely!
I thoroughly enjoyed the class and feel that it was extremely useful. Dr. Wallis is a brilliant writer and I am honored that I had a chance to take his class. He truly cares about his students and I feel as though my writing skills improved tremendously with his guidance. I would highly recommend his class.
This class was an experience i will never forget. I enjoyed every second of it. Professor Wallis is one of the best instructors at LAVC. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I feel i have learned the necessary tools to take on upper-division courses. Thank You Professor Wallis.
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!I had him during the winter which basically means I had to sit through two hours of his class every day and yet somehow I never seemed to mind. Extremely intelligent, accomplished and passionate man. TAKE HIM!! You wont be sorry !!!!
An old wind bag who has obviously not recovered from his childhood from which he constantly draws upon. The reading is of his writings and when he reads aloud, it feels like partaking in intellectual masterbation. He complains too much about how he was picked on as a child. He rivals oedipus rex with regards to his fixation with his mommy. A ****
This class should be called wallis 101. he rambles about his life and thats all he does, write your essays on him and praise him that is the only way you will recieve an A if you choose another topic you are guarenteed a C. HE SUCKS!!! H e is horrible english teacher.
the best english teacher! NO Test! If your writing assignment is bad; don't worry about it, just go to writing center and you get extra credit for every assignments that you go to writing center. In Creative writing its' fun to write your own story. writing is fun; reason you can re-write is to be better writer
You definitely need to read the material and know that they are mostly written by him and about him. If you keep these things in mind, you'll do well. On another note, he is an expert at reading deep into material and writing essays. I recommend him!
Professor Wallis cares about the success for his students. I would recommend him especially for people who have a lack of interest in English because it is easy to get a good grade. Despite this downside because I took him over the winter and all though he makes lecture seem like divergence, I wish I could have grown more in my writing.
Prof Wallis is THE prof to take for English 103, for-go all others. I luved coming to daily winter class, very entertaining. He uses his own beautiful literature, very creative. Luved his poetry-- Family is fav. A very GROOVY prof, highly recommend. :-)
He's very understanding and flexible. He's not for you if you're an English major looking to take your writing to the next level though. There are 4 essays and an unltd number of journal entries. Easy A.
Prof. Wallis is one of the best professors that you'll take. He cares about his students. Class is fun! loved his lecture. I took his class during winter semester and i found it interesting although i had to attend class everyday! Highly Recommended!! Do your work and you will get an A !! :D
This class is really easy if you know how to write and speak English. The books that he makes us read are pretty good, and I recommend this class.
This prof is by far THE best prof ever! Just go to every class, take notes, pay attention, ask insightful questions, follow directions, do not leave early, and absorb the material/culture he is trying to instill in ya. Nothing less than expected for any other prof btw, and you will walk away with something better than a stellar grade. :-)
He's an emotional guy. One class he could be super happy, and the next class meeting he'll get annoyed at the smallest things. All you do is watch operas and write essays about them. He did not teach us how to improve in our essay writings.
You will not learn anything that will help you in your writing. The only way you can pass this class is if you're already good in writing essays. Good luuck.
This is someone who really cares about the success of his students. There is no other professor like him and lectures are very therapeutic if you're into participating. He has an awesome sense of humor and he'll help you with your essays but keep in mind this isn't a technique class like English 101! You should have an idea of how to write.
I have taken Wallis for English 103,102, and now going for 127. I luv this prof he's the BEST. Can't get enough. He makes class so enjoyable, very creative. Two thumbs up/Highly recommend
MEAN MAN! called students stupid. Reads books that he wrote about himself. seemed more like a private therapy session. Couldn't be honest on papers, because professor was the author!
Every class is a therapy session for him. This class is not even about English it's about analyzing a narcissistic egotistical human being and if you don't know how to write don't expect him to teach you Not a good professor at all, tends to switch moods fairly quickly in class One moment he's happy the next angry.
This class & prof are fine. Ya need to know the basic structure of writing a paper plus, have the ability to write. Refer to english 101 or the writing center if in need. The rest prof spoon feeds you. Go to every class, be on time and smile. This is the "magic formula". Took Eng 102, 103. He is THE best. From an "A" strudent.
This class was great! I learned plenty, and the teacher is good. He is very talkative, and it is good to ask questions so that he won't be the only one talking. He is a very sweet (and cool!) man. Take him!
Its an okay class. Its just not an english class. Its a class based on his life. The books are about his life. All he does is talk about his life growing up in Arkansas. The books you read are ones he wrote about his life. The poems you read are about his life. The essays you write are essentially about his life. You get the idea..
Great Professor! All his books and poems are written by him. It's mainly about his life and it is very emotional and inspirational. I would highly recommend taking any English courses with him.
Its not an easy A. You have to work for your grade. 5 Essays(3 page minimum each)each essay is about a specific book he has written. 12 (one page responses). He provides a really good guideline and foundation for each essay. Take good notes cus he collects them at the end. He takes attendance everyday. Lets you rewrite essays multiple times.
Dont take this professor!! Extremly boring, its like a therapy sesion every class meeting and it gets annoying. Very poor grader, doesnt even give you a reasonable grade even when you try to do the work.I wouldnt recomend him for your English classes at all !!!! He is funny ill give him that but nor a good professor!!! dont do it
Professor Wallis is one of my favorite teachers. I really enjoyed all his books. It kept me interested in the course. There is a lot of reading and writing but if you take it serious you'll do just fine. He offers a lot of help and gives you options to redo previous papers.
Profesoor William Wallis love him he is ver understanding gives you chances and love hearing his life experiences GREAT PROFESSOR he'll pass you if you of course do the work and attend class. I reallyenjoyed his class just i took the evening class so it was a pretty long time sitting. He taught us a lot of vocab very helpful TAKE HIM!
Intelligent and wise, the novels being read for the class are written by him. Great advantage, because you have the author right in front of you. very helpful when it comes to assignments, and goes out of his way to interest his students and help them succeed. thank you professor wallis !
English 127 Creative Writing: was an ok class, not an exceptional experience like 102 & 103. Prof is great, however only likes a certain "formula" when it comes to creative writing and not all students can conform/perform to meet it. B/C of this, difficult to attain an A, and have to settle for a B. Which is kinda sad & gpa gets "hit". :-)
The instructor uses the class to fulfill his emotional needs. He does this by talking about himself constantly, and assigning reading material authored by him. This is an unhealthy and unproductive learning environment. Students are not there to meet the needs of any instructor. Don't enable such behavior from any instructor. Avoid this class.
Very educated professor. He makes his students laugh and makes the overall class interesting. The two novels, poem collection, and short stories (some interpretations of his novels) are all written by him. There are 4 about 4 essays. He gives you a chance to re-write and receive a better grade. He gives you a chance to succeed.
Great instructor.
Arrogant and self centered. All the books required are written by him. All the essays are about him and his books. Everyday he re lives his childhood in Arkansas. Talks about himself 24/7, even plays documentaries about himself. Goes on and on about his opera singing which is irrelevant. Loves students who kiss up to him. Doesn't like questions.
Very nice, humble and easy to approach person. Do your work and you will be fine. Don't copy your essays from other students. He is smart, he is a writer, poet and opera singer. You can't mess with artists. Very durable character and knowledgable professor. You can find Love in him and his class.
Professor Wallis is a great teacher. He is really nice and cares about his students. Very passionate about teaching and writing. I would highly recommend his class. LAVC need more teachers like him.
Wallis offers something very deep, satisfying, and necessary for his students. He's that person who cares about who you are, and shows you how stories, writing, art, poetry, and even opera, express the core of you, and in so doing, has the power to transform, even heal, you. How lucky we are, that this expansive mind is here for us to learn from.
Avoid him if you can. I only took him because he was the only professor with a honor's section. He is incredibly self-centered and arrogant. The fact that he only uses his own books to teach should be a warning about how full of himself he can be. Be ready to suck up, and god forbid you disagree with him. Terrible professor and incredibly rude.
(Honors course.) Have to buy books from Bookstore. There's like 5 or 6 essays. There's a little reading every week. They are books written by him in a way to help students write essays & you can ask him to explain. Very understanding. Make sure you write notes in class. Gives EC for going to writing center. Pay attention to themes he likes to use.
Not recommended. A moody person. Laugh and yell with no reason. He is not easy grader and his hand writing is really bad. You do not know what should you write to get a good grade because he changes every single sentence in your essay to the one that he prefer and when you use that sentences in you revise paper he change them again .A boring class
Prone to mood swings, Professor Wallis might love your writing or comments one day and hate them the next. His unpredictability made me feel anxious to speak up in class. He assigns books he has written as required texts so you have to buy them. The books are autobiographical, so it is hard and awkward to say anything negative about them in class.
Great professor. He's very knowledgable. Great conversation and lots of stories. I'd say the only ways you're not going to like him are if you are lazy and unwilling to listen and learn. Decent amount of note-taking. Get someone's email or number in case you're absent...
He's a great professor. I enjoyed taking one of his English classes. He's a tough grader, so be sure to work hard on your essays if your going to take his class.
he was a narcissist and i didnt learn anything about writing. he made himself out to be the victim of all victims and the hero of all heros. lots of homework, 5 essays, 8 essay responses, notes and drafts and turned in at the end of semester. must buy all books (all written by him btw). he was a good person butfind a different professor if you can.
Dr. Wallis is a kind and easy-going professor. The class is mostly about his personal life. Essays aren't difficult and neither is the rest of the coursework. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. The students who complain are those who don't show up or those who don't buy the required books. I would take another class with him.
I took this guy's 103 class a few semesters ago, honors, and it was a joke... The class should be retitled to English W, w stands for Wallis! Because well, the class is literally entirely about him. Makes you buy books, written by him, to do assignments on... It's his own small business. Other than that it's not too hard
Professor Wallis is a very interesting individual. He has mood swings. He's a sweet and carrying guy, but can come off angry and frustrated. He talks a lot about himself. He is always changing subjects and sometimes doesn't really get to the point. If English is your major i don't recommend this class. overall be ready to write essays and to read.
I love this professor. He truly cares about his students and acknowledges the reality they face. He treats us like professionals, and isn't afraid to explore dense, complicated subject matter. He takes the pressure off of the minor aspects of class, so we are able focus on what counts- coming up with profound, beautiful things to say about lit.
This is a professor who truly cares about his students. Attendance matters GREATLY to him though, so if you know you will be missing more than two days... don't even enroll in his course. He's always willing to give you the materials needed to succeed, and wants to see everyone finish with top notch grades. Absolutely phenomenal, really.
Professor Wallis is a wonderful gentleman. I took his night class for Spring 2017 and I learned a lot from him. Make sure to have your books with you all the time. Essays are easy as long as you listen and take notes. Do not turn in work late, Wallis will not always accept late work. The final is simple, it's research. Take it, it's a fun class!
He is tough but fair. Is very passionate about writing, and art. Had lots of insight in the source material . Easy class as long as you do the work your golden. The lectures were engaging , fun , well done and very entertaining.
He is absolutely amazing. He only gives four papers the last one is your in class final. All you have to do is take notes every class and turn it in end of semester for grading. One journal entry per week one page write whatever you want. Easy grader and super fun lectures. He choose really interesting stories to go over so your never bored.
Sometimes he's a little off with his attitude, but he's a brilliant professor. Learned a lot! Also read some really interesting books!! Allows you to rewrite essays you did poorly on. At the end of the semester, he collects your class notes and all the essays with the revisions. You can rewrite the essays until you get the grade you want!
He was funny and knew what he was talking about. Although, if youre taking notes and you ask him to repeat what he just said, he wouldnt remember and respond with, I have no f clue what I just said. Sometimes during class, hed take his sandals off and walk around class barefoot, and that bothered me a bit, but to each his own, I guess.
Pros - Nothing. Cons - non-stop cursing in class, doesn't go by course outline, adds work, walks around barefoot - unclean, moody, has to read his stories, poems, and buy his books, does not give good feedback, in class discussions best if you agree with him, lets you know if he dislikes your story for whatever reason and sometimes no reason.
great relationship, nice personality
I loved every single lecture I went to! Professor Wallis truly cares for his students and their growth. I cant say enough about this amazing man I have learned so much from. Take his class you wont regret it.
Heres the real run down: nice (sometimes depends on the day and mood, he will make sure you're aware he is in a bad mood tho)... makes the class read his books (not so interesting but manageable)... Essay based class, gives a lot of extra credit, however if you did good in HS class isn't challenging. If you didn't, class is challenging.
If youre good at writing essays youll get an easy A. If youre not good at writing essays, look elsewhere. You wont get higher than a C. This is Wallis 101. You will only learn about the professor and his life. Most of the books you read are even written by him. You learn nothing except that he cusses every ten minutes. This is not English 101
He is a really good teacher and a person! Very kind and helping. Will do everything possible and impossible to help every student pass the course. He is also very intelligent. I just enjoyed the class with Doc. Wallis!
dont do it. i wish i never took this class. its dreading. he assigned a paper on a book that was not even in the syllabus. its awful. he cusses a lot and nobody even cares about the things he said. i sat all the way in the back and watched netflix every single time because i couldnt do it. hes mean to students and i think he is retiring. finally
Great teacher! Very clear grading and easy homework. Runs an interesting meditation class. Most reading and assignments are based on books he wrote. Need to be for the organized the entire course. Easy A with all the extra credit he offers or you aren't trying. You can actually learn writing and critical thinking too. Show up, do the work, get an A
Dr. Wallis is among the greatest people I have ever had the honor of learning from. He and this course profoundly influenced me as an artist, student, and person. His course is not difficult, and he wants to give every student an A. This class was absolutely enlightening. Do not miss the chance to take a course with Dr. Wallis!
