Great professor! Lets you use notes and book on tests, and is a very forgiving grader if you make "stupid" mistakes (he'll give partial credit for wrong answers)! No one should fail his class.

Good professor, very funny and outgoing. He gives a lot of quizes, but of low weight. He also takes off your lowest test grade of the year to help you out. I reccomend this teacher, very informative and helpful

Difficult class, but good teacher. He's really funny and tries to keep class from getting too boring. I wouldn't suggest taking this as a summer course unless you're a math person.

Professor Whitfield is one of the best professors I think at BCC. I hate math, and I forever will (which is why I'm an English major), but he made math easy and comprehendible. If you have to take math at any point in time, try to take his class.

He is a great teacher. If you are an attentive and industrious student he is the best. He gives a quiz every class which not only makes you study but also helps reinforce what you learnt the previous class. He is also helpful out of class if you have any problems and funny too.

EXCELLENT teacher... quite possibly one of the best I've ever had! The notes he gives are clear and the quizes are good for studying for the exam. Also he allows you to use the text book and one sheet of notes for the exam!!

Stats is a hard subject, but Prof Whitfield gives you alot of opportunities where he can help you. He gives quizzes after each class which are a great help and you can c where your weaknesses and strengths are in this subject. He is fair and makes the class easy if u attend everytime!!!

He makes it so the class isn't even hard til the last few chapters. I wish more teachers taught math like this.

Took online-7 wk course. Open book quizzes & final(25q MC)- but don't let that fool you-this is a difficult subject. Very generous with grading-do the discussions, work hard on the reports, show work on quizzes & you will do OK. Emailed once for a question and received a prompt, detailed answer. I would reccomend this professor and online course.

Professor Whitfield was an outstanding Math teacher. Highly recommended if you want to LEARN. Very clear with his lectures. He ALWAYS reviewed before quizzes and test, and offered many ways to boost your grade- - many quizzes, 4-5 test, many projects - droped the lowest grade(s). Can you say Whitfield! No one should fail his class!

Amazing Teacher. Gives a quiz every class but the quizzes are so easy you can do it with your eyes closed. He drops the 3 lowest quiz grades and drops either your quiz average altogether or one of your test grades. Deff. take him. Great way to get an A.

Great teacher. He gives very clear notes and is very helpful when needed. If you are not very good wth math he is deffinatly the teacher you want to take because he will help you.

Such a great professor. He gives really clear notes. It's a tough subject but he makes it so much easier. He reviews before every exam and lets you use a full sheet of paper to write whatever you want on it for the exams. He drops the lowest test grade and keeps the higher ones. Overall he's a really great professor and I'd take his class.

He is the MAN! Do not be fooled this is a very hard course. However, he teaches this subject with so much confidence, he is always prepared and makes sure the class understands his examples before moving on. Go to class, take good notes, do the HW. for extra practice.

He was very organized and always focused and prepared for class. He gives plenty of examples and allows one page of notes for all quizes and tests. He insures understanding of Intro to Stats by giving a group project where we have to apply learned knowledge and skills to real world data samples. I hate math but never missed a class. Best teacher!

Great teacher!!! Gives a quiz at the end of every class but they are open book/note. Very organized so make sure to take good notes. Tests are exactly like quizzes and examples from class. There is a project due at the end of semester but it can really boost your grade. You have to work hard for your grade but I absolutely love him!!

Professor Whitfield made a dreaded math class a breeze!! His adequate explanations and teaching methods have made statistics not to scary anymore. Whitfield is passionate about his field, extremely personable, and brightens the class with humor and laughs. Do your homework and take good notes and you're set to succeed.

I hate math. I loathe math. And I thought I'd hate statistics. While I didn't love the class, I couldn't have imagined a better, more prepared, more informative professor. The work is tough, but he is helpful and he makes it clear. If I can get an A in a statistics class, than anyone else should be able to do so as well!

Very nice professor. 3 easy projects+quiz every class+5 exams including final. He didn't drop anything however we could use a cheat sheet which helps a lot. Overall it was an easy class.

Professor Whitfield knows the material very well and explains it very clear. Although I had a very hard time with stats, he would explain it to me. Quizzes were all open note open classmate, except the first one. I got three excel projects and the tests were semi rough.

Whitfield clearly knows the material. His lectures are clear, filled with examples to help you understand, and a couple pleasantly corny jokes. Homework is short and identical to questions on the tests. He goes over the important concepts of the chapters before the tests and allows one sheet of notes to use on tests. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Great teacher. Lets you use notes on tests. Gives take home quizzes. You will take a lot of notes so never skip class because if you do you will miss so much. He keeps track of attendance. The group project is so hard but you have to do it in any STAT course. No homework. Great class. I'm not good at STAT but I love this class. Take him.

Professor Whitman is knowledgeable and engaging. He made statistics interesting and accessible to his students and was willing to give additional help if asked.

If your a quick learner this is a good class for you. He tends to rush the class and if you don't stop him to ask questions then you won't do well. He gives a quiz almost every class mainly to enforce information recently taught. The quizzes are worth as much as the test grades.

Whitfield is very dry but definitely a great professor. Explains everything thoroughly and gives take home quizzes every class which really help your grade.

Prof. Whitfield was amazing! He was very thorough during the lectures. We got a quiz (open notes/book and it was only about 5 questions) almost every class, but he gave partial credit. He also gave us a study sheet we could write on and use during the tests. There is a hefty group project, but he is very generous in grading it. He is 10/10!

He gives a take home quiz every class and they are only 5 questions each but he also lets you work with someone on them too. He lets you use your notes for tests. He's a fair grader and doesn't really use the book. He also relates a lot of statistics to gambling which really worked for me! Best teacher

He teaches well, will answer questions, and will help outside of class if needed, but on his tight schedule. Attendance not mandatory, but if miss too many points deducted, if perfect, extra points to final grade. Miss class material, and you will struggle. The test will be quite literally the exact same thing as hw and examples worded different.

Whitfield is genuinely the best math teacher I've ever had. I thought i was terrible at math, but he explained the material very well so I really understood it. He let us use one sheet of notes for our exams + he gave us a handy review sheet. There was a big group project at the end of the semester but he was a very fair grader. No complaints.

Took Professor Whitfield in the Fall of 2018. Very knowledgeable in the material he lectures. Class is made up of quizzes, 3 Excel projects, 4 unit tests, and 1 final. 99% of quizzes are take home, open note. Rest are open note, in class. Allowed to work with classmates on them. Final is 25 multiple choice, open note. Drops 3 lowest quiz grades.

Although I enjoy having a more personable teacher rather than one who just shows up and starts lecturing, Mr. W gets the job done. Although the material is the bland, the difficulty of the class forces you to focus on the lecture and take down every note. 99.9 % of whatever he is doing on the board has to do with a test, quiz or project thats due

I don't think anybody in the world can make math entertaining, Prof Whitfield made it understandable and very clear. He is like the king of partial credit. 4 tests, lots of homework one group project. The reviews before the tests are identical to the tests, I never studied just made a great cheat. Oh and if you go2 every class you get +2 points

Prof. Whitfield WILL help you throughout the semester when you go to his office hours, unless you wait until the last minute for help then he won't have sympathy for you. The tests are exactly the same as the daily quizzes just with different numbers and he goes over the quiz answers in detail so you should be able to pass the tests.

Stat's a tough subject, but prof. Whitfield makes it easy to understand. His lectures are long but important; he doesn't waste time. He also gives out take-home quizzes every class, which are basically free points. 3 small 1-person projects, 4 exams, and a final. You can also bring a sheet of paper of notes (front and back) to each exam. Take him!

Great guy, I am so thankful I took him for stats 1. Lots of quizzes and homework but the exams ARE JUST LIKE THEM!! you get to use an 8x11 piece of paper on the exams too for notes. you have to take a lot of notes, but the notes were exactly what was on the exam. he walks you step by step on every problem! I would definitely recommend him!!!

Idk why he has some bad ratings on here bc I thought he was great. Its stats so you cant just go in & put minimal effort & expect to do well. The way he teaches & breaks it down makes it really doable as long as your writing notes, asking questions, & doing hw. Also lets you use a sheet you can write whatever you want for test.

Professor Whitfield was one of my best teachers here. His lectures are long, but they are EASY to follow if you PAY ATTENTION! He is very clear and shows all steps. Class is fast paced, but he makes sure all students are caught up. No homework, only quizzes after each class. Definitely recommend his Statistics class* Only use textbook for practice.

He is a pretty hard professor. You HAVE to make sure you pay attention in class and take notes and listen during lectures. He is also a very tough grader so you have to check your work thoroughly and do all of the work on time. However, he teaches very well and I was able to understand everything once I full comprehended the lesson.

Loved this professor!! Everything he teaches is clear, he lets you use a little cheat sheet on every test. He even hands out a study guide showing how to do EVERYTHING on the test, which you can use as your cheat sheet. The only reason I don't have an A is because of the group project, which is bc I got stuck with the class skippers..

He literally couldn't make the class any easier, you get notes on every test including the final.

Very easy class, all tests are open notes including the final. He'll get back to you right away when you reach him outside of class. He was nice I would take his class again!

You will be good if you pay attention to his lectures and take detailed notes. Prof. Whitfield is very straightforward with what he expects on tests and quizzes. He even allows you a note sheet for tests which helps you tremendously. Also, very easy going and flexible!

Had him for stats 1 and 2. Very straightforward. Simple take home "quizzes". Tests are very similar to the questions on the quizzes. Allows a cheat sheet on tests too. 3 projects throughout the semester, and you choose the topic. Final exams are not cumulative. You can't really learn stats through notes, so he walks you through examples in Excel.
