385 is a tough class no matter how you slice it, but Wood is prob the best prof for it. He's not as good at this as he is at other classes, though, and his lectures can go by kinda fast/be confusing. Make sure you clarify and go to office hours and you'll be fine. Nicest guy in econ.

Dr. Wood is a great professor. His 345 class is Socratic and requires diligent reading and engagement with the course. It will be hard but you will learn a ton. The class is setup in much differently than normal course/more professional. Tests and the readings will be tough but its doable and really interesting material.

I was so intimidated to take this class, but Dr. Wood changed all of that. He really helped me see the good in ECON, and really makes everything so easy, understandable, and relate able. One of the best professors you will ever get. I am planning on taking him for Micro next semester.

Idk why he has such good reviews. youre taking notes the entire time and he gives pop quizzes and he gets so excited about them ew. he lectures the entire time and although he can be clear about what hes saying you cant really listen/pay attention because you're just trying to write down all the notes as fast as you can. pretty much teach yourself

Probably the worst professor I have had JMU, teaches AT you not to you. Unapproachable, degrading at times for not knowing what he flew through in class etc. Take some one else.

Nice guy and the lectures are interesting but the grading is ridiculous. The pop quizzes are only one question so you better get it right. The tests are nothing like the study guide because his answer choices are very misleading and confusing. If you fail one of the test (like I and the rest of the class did) there is no chance of you pulling a B.

Degrading, Tough to approach and Moves too fast during lectures. Thought he was a good prof but this man is not helpful out of class or in class. So many people are lost during his lectures. Good grading policy and straight forward expectations but it so hard to balance with other hard classes because you basically teach everything to yourself.

Econ major here, this guy is one of the best, took him for many classes. Pretty sure most negative reviews are from non-majors who think Econ is as easy as their major and aren't putting the work in and showing up bc I never had these problems. In fact, I took really detailed notes and it made tests easy. Got an A/A- in every class.
