so hard, very confusing, goes extremely fast, outlines help put notes together
very fast pace, but knows anatomy thouroughly
Reads straight out of the book. Towson should buy the book on tape!
Too fast, have to teach yourself, and tests are IMPOSSIBLE
A&P is hard ingeneral, goes very fast and skips around. knows her stuff though
knows her stuff, talks too fast, not too bad of a grader
heres a helpful hint...go to her after class for help and if u are a couple of points away from passing she'll add them on...believe me she did it to me

lab tests are killer, lecture tests not too bad if you do all of the reading, no outside assignments
Quick tip: READ BEFORE CLASS! She makes outlines for you! Tests are hard but fair. Tries hard to make sure you understand. very nice.
Very hard class in general, 5 tests total and some extra credit pop quizes, extremely smart lady and though she's challenging, you'll learn a ton
Terrible teacher...I learned nothing!! The tests are hard and she reads straight from the book...do not take this class!!
DO NOT TAKE!! Worst teacher I've ever had. Had to know so much more than any other teacher. Even if you answer a question right she will still make you feel stupid by adding something on to your comment saying well yes butttt... Take Sildorff
She is very nasty if you don't understand.
Excellent teacher. Difficult class. Read. Study, and deal with the large amount of material. Its the way anatomy goes.
She's a wonderful lady and she'll do what she can to help you. She reviews at the beginning of every lecture and the lecture exams are relatively easy. The lab practicals are tough. Just make sure she knows she's going too fast and she'll slow down.
Awesome teacher! Hard class, but she explains the material very well. Very friendly in lab and tests are not too hard. Definitely take!
DOn't take her class. She gives too much information on class and half of it is not even on the test.
she's well spoken & explains exactly what you need to know - it's just a LOT of information; lecture is easier than lab; she sometimes goes too fast, but will slow down if you ask her to; she makes the best of a very difficult topic
She's extremely nice and helpful. She reviews before every class which helps a lot. Just read the topics and study and you will do fine. She also gives extra credit quizes so go to lecture!
This is the most stressful class ive ever taken. Her exams are impossible. She doesnt curve even if the entire class fails an exam. She gives extra credit pop quizzes that help your grade.
This was the best class! She was very clear about the lectures and she made A&P very interesting and understandable, plus she is really nice and willing to answer questions. I recommend taking her, i wis she taught A&P 2
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT take! horrible professor. lab practicals were ridiculously difficult. made a+p I much more difficult than the other profs. friendly though.
HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! lab practicles were impossible, exams were just as hard. avg. grades for exams/practicles were a high "d" to a low "c" The class is extreamly stressful, not to mention time consuming. if you take this class....may god have mercy on your soul
A great professor. Very knowledgeable and intelligent. Very willing to help and explain.Anatomy is a lot of information, study, go to class and learn your lab material and you will be fine, Dr. Williams-Hogarth provides every way in the world for you to do well if you keep up your end of the work.
HARD HARD HARD.She pulls you in with her friendly attitude, then goes in for the kill with all her A&P knowledge. If you take this class with her as your teacher, I suggest you cut your friends off, put your social life on hold, and crawl into a cave, emerging periodically to fail her next test.
The course is meant to be difficult, not a bad person but horrible professor, very dull approach, somewhat unorganized and difficult to understand at times what she wants us to know and what is just side convo, highly recommend another prof
hard class, very hard class. She is a very nice woman and will help you out. I don't think there's any easy way out with a&p. I'm getting an A- but I had to work my ass off. If you can't handle studying a lot I don't reccommend.
hard class but great teacher. Go to class, read the book and study. Test were not that hard and she teaches all you need to know in class. Sometimes shes teaches very quickly but everything she teaches is in the book.
Very unaccessable for help. Tried to get help, wont make meetings. your best bet is ur TA bc hogarth is the worst. nice & very smart. should NOT be a teacher. im so lucky i made it out- barely! Unclear lectures, exams very critical. half my lab clas was in danger of failing towards finals... she sucks- RUN!
Such a hard class and not a good person to be teaching. No guides for lab, just her telling you to basically figure it out. Unclear lectures cause she's book smart but should never be a teacher. Her approach definitley doesn't work. Took A&PII at HCC with Dr. Maslak, and I learned so much more with her!
This class was amazing. The dissection took less than two weeks to complete and Dr. Laurie was very helpful. The atmosphere was laid back since the course was "task-oriented". There were no tests or quizzes.
Anatomy is a very tough class. Her lectures are very boring and she doesnt make it interesting. Her lecture exams are tough but passable and her lab exams are easy. I averaged a B on her lab exams. Be prepared to study a lot.
Tough class! I took it during spring semester, 2 credit class and hours and hours of studying. I wish this course was not based on grade, and more on learning cos it was be really fun. Take it, you will learn a lot and you will feel better intellectual and intelligent! Be prepared to read books, attend lectures and be attentive!
Very knowledgeable about her stuff!
I hate her. DO not take her! Confusing and haughty..
DO NOT TAKE!! Likes to ramble on things that you don't need to know. Nice but don't be fooled! Grades extremely hard on both types of exams. Does not curve even though most of class failed. Lab time is a joke and waste. Work hard and get nothing for it! Her and your GPA is like a match and gas - everything blows up and your left with nothing!!
All i have to say, A&P lab is straight out memorizing locations. The only thing i would be careful is her last final lab on muscles, that requires more understanding than memorizing. As for as lecture, show up to receive extra credit pop quiz and follow her lecture outline for class and exam. Thats it!! no drama, Just don't be lazy
this class should be VERY interesting but instead its almost impossible. very smart lady but goes through lectures too fast and makes it hard to ask questions, gives outlines but you get so much info in every lecture its impossible, i worked my A** off and failed...wouldnt recommend her
Worst class ever. THe class average was a D. I never knew what she was talkng about even after she explained it. U have to teach urself.
Dr. Hogarth changed her grading methods so many times that it made it unfair for people actually doing decent. She was totally unclear and confusing most of the time. Lab is mandatory for points, and open labs are also a must! Lab exams are straight forward but lecture exams are torture! I recommend taking a different professor.
This is already a hard class and although you can go to her for help, she is not very helpful, I busted my ass in this class and still struggled! so I would say if you can avoid taking her do so!
She is a tough teacher, but she is also an excellent teacher. She is willing to help you and can explain things very well. At the start of the semester I did struggle, but once I studied more I did well and learned a lot. Take her if you want to learn and are willing to work.
Pretty good professor. class dragged a bit. She gave good outlines and pretty good study guides. nice too.
pretty good. She goes very fast b/c there's so much material. buy a recorder; it helped me so much in lecture!! Her lecture tests are very hard but she grades fairly and tries to help you out. The final was easy. Lab tests are easier. Lecture and lab feel like 2 separate extremely difficult classes. If you go to office hours she is very helpful.
Great opportunity for pre-med/octh/pre pt students. The class is tedious but definitely worth the 6 hours a day to experience the complexity of the human body. Our cadaver had a lot of anomalies and she made it really clear to us what needed to be done and how to do it to keep structures in tact and exposed. Amazing experience, great instruction.
Very difficult class, and professor moves extremely fast during lectures/ labs, it is very hard just to keep up with notes. In lab she knows her stuff but gets frustrated when we ask questions, seems to expect us to know everything from her explanation, even though she talks very fast. Nice lady, just talks fast and doesn't like questions.
Extremely difficult professor! Class average for exams was a 62 and the median grade was a 60... so half the class failed. Moves very fast and expects you to know way too much, does nothing to make class interesting. If you can, find a different professor, you will do horrible with this one.
The person who just wrote this has to be in my class. The class average on her first exam was a 60. She knows her stuff but she teaches so fast. You HAVE to study every night for hours to keep up. She gives good outlines but her exams are very detailed. I know there are plenty of better teachers then her!!! DON'T TAKE HER!!!
Yes you have to work hard to get a good grade in this class, but it is possible. She offers extra credit! You don't need to study for hours every night, but you do need to study for the exams prior to the night before the test. Make use of the open lab times! She knows her stuff! If you want to actually learn definitely something take this class.
Dr Williams -Hogarth is hard but if you ask her for help she will sit down with you for hours at a time. She's very knowledgeable and still researches neuroscience. I suggest taking this class if you plan on taking any other anatomy/neuroscience above this level
Material is pretty straight forward, but Professor Williams-Hogarth makes it a little more difficult than it needs to be and moves at a very fast pace. 3 lecture exams, 3 lab exams, 1 final. The class was very intense, be prepared to spend at least 2 hours a night on the material. You will NEED to spend this much time if you want to do well.
This is a very tough class. the lecture and lab exam averages were usually in the 60's. she offers extra credit quizes but they are worth practically nothing. She is a good teacher, does lots of reviewing and doesn't go too fast, but she makes the lecture tests too difficult.
This class was extremely difficult. I worked my A** off and got a D so I have to retake the class. Professor Hogarth is very smart but goes through lecture material way to quickly. Her lecture exams are impossible. class average for lecture exams were always in the 60's. Out of a 100 person class only about 38 people were left at the final exam.
Excellent professor (and extremely helpful)! Exams are very difficult but if you put the work in there is no reason you shouldn't pass. Go to all of her lectures, missing even 1 will set you back. ALL quizzes are EC. Posts ALL notes on line. PRINT THEM OUT AND TAKE THEM TO CLASS W/ YOU. Use the connect/APR programs, they are extremely helpful.
She is a nice teacher but she needs to improve her style of teaching. she gives pop quizes so study cos they improve your grade. This is a hard class so if you want to get a good grade, i recommend you take another teacher.
She's an amazing teacher. Yeah, the class is difficult, but her lectures are really helpful and she's always willing to work with you outside of class, if you put in the effort. She sets you up so that when you get to upper level biology courses, you have a great foundation. Don't take if you're a slacker, only if you actually want to learn.
The info for this class is definitely difficult, but she makes it even harder than necessary. Her PowerPoints don't highlight key information, but are basically word for word the ENTIRE book...meaning her PowerPoints are LONG. It is difficult to study SO MUCH information without guidance and even when you understand info, the tests are ridiculous!
I only had Williams-Hogarth for lab. She was very straight forward and told you everything you needed to know. If you don't study, you won't do well but that is how goes it is for any bio teacher. I thought she was approachable and fair. First practical was definitely the easiest and the last one was the hardest. Overall, I really liked her.
She is defitnetly a hard proffessor with little help. She speaks in monotone, her ppt slides have so many information it barely helps you. I had to withdraw. If you can find a better a&p proffessor please do! This is one of those teach yourself classes, and the class is already hard enough!!
Moves very quickly through power points with roughly 70 slides each, gives pop quizzes worth almost nothing, gives study guides that do not actually give you the info that you will need to know for the tests, recites the text book word for word, tells you to know "everything" when asked what is needed to be known. grades hinge on 4 very hard exams.
Truly the hardest and most unhelpful professor I've ever taken a class with. She gives no guidance towards what to study and the tests are extremely tough-especially in comparison to other A&P teachers. A&P is hard in general, but she makes it even harder. I would recommend everyone stay away from this class.
Dr. Williams-Hogarth is an extremely intelligent woman and a horrible teacher. Her lectures are literally the textbook. Memorization of every detail in the book is expected. She is not fit to be teaching anatomy.
Wouldn't recommend. Goes through lectures too quickly.
She is one of the most knowledgeable professors I have ever had. She's a very smart woman. A&P is hard, clearly, but she has no sympathy to the fact. Yes, she does pop quizzes, but the points gained are for extra credit, you can't lose points here. Three exams & a final. Format: MC, fill in the blank, and short answer. PPs are uploaded to Bb.
A&P 221 is very difficult however she goes through the lectures so quickly there is no time to hand write notes literally. Need to bring computer to follow along with powerpoints. Gives extra credit pop quizzes that do not count against you. Had to withdraw retaking again with another professor.
An intelligent person however a horrible professor. Powerpoints directly from textbook, no effort put in to actually teach the material. Talks about every minuet detail instead of bigger picture. It doesn't matter if you're a great student or not, taking this course with this professor is setting yourself up for failure.
A&P is a difficult course on its own. If you are already taking a heavy course load, I would not recommend taking this professor. She does not make the material more difficult than it already is, it's just that she goes through the material so fast. However, she is the most knowledgeable professor I have come to know. Talk to her, she'll help.
her lecture is really fast and hard to follow but she is willing to answer your questions and make you understand the material. would recommend reading her study guide and her power point doesn't really help help since it is directly off the text book.
Skim the chapter prior to the class. Take notes as best you can in class. Review notes, and power points after class. About two weeks before the exam begin developing a study guide, breaking down each concept. She will answer your questions! Go to peer tutoring, the tutoring center, or get a study group together. This class is a big time commitment
Dr. Hogarth is the most intelligent professor I have encountered. If you want to know what med school is going to be like take her class. If you are not going into medicine I recommend taking someone else, as the detail is not needed. The final exam was utterly impossible to get an A on, but aside from that its possible to get an A
Hardest class I have ever taken and probably will ever take. Don't plan on passing unless you already know anatomy in depth. Tests are impossible, especially the final. Wish I could have taken any other anatomy professor instead of her, but I didn't have a choice. Half the class drops, and then half of the people left fail. Do not take her.
Most difficult class of my college career, but also the most rewarding. This course proved to me that I am capable of buckling down with study habits, as well as truly understanding concepts. I would take this course over and over again if I could. I have great study guides I wish I knew how I could share
I haven't gotten my final grade yet, but I'll be honest right now I have a C-. Honestly, this class is not hard just challenging. She's a good professor that actually knows her stuff. Ask questions. Go to class. Read the book. Go to review sessions. You'll do well.
I personally love Professor Hogarth! I think a lot of people don't like her because she does move quickly through lecture and she's a tough grader. But she is more than willing to help and she makes herself available to her students. I had her for lecture and for lab, and this class was the only one I got an A in all semester!
I came in thinking I had a good chance of getting the grade I wanted from having some previous knowledge on anatomy but Professor Hogarth makes it almost impossible to pass the class. She has roughly 80 slides per lecture and flies through them leaving you no choice but to go back and learn on your own. Would not recommend and wish I knew.
i had hogarth for bio 221 and 427, she is a really tough grader and she expects a lot from her students and makes you work. however, she knows the material extremely well and is willing to help. although it is a tough class it is worth it as she teaches the material very well and is a very respected professor. you will learn a lot in this class
The material itself isn't hard its just a LOT of memorization. She has taught at higher levels (med students) and has a high set bar. Can come off condescending. Three exams set up as stations. You have 3ish hours for lab but you only get 30-60 seconds at each station with no revisiting or time after to think or correct spelling.
Professor Hogarth is an amazing person. She is the smartest person I've ever met. She is willing to help you on anything. Her class is very challenging, and she makes you work for your grade. BUT she's very fair and is willing to help you. Go to her office hours and make your name known. It helps. Great professor
No no no! A&P is a hard class but this professor makes it so much harder than it needs to be. She chooses the hardest places to test on and tests the most on areas we barely covered. Please take anybody else. No extra credit and mini practicals at the end of each class (only the first one with your group)
Don't take this professor unless you want to teach yourself everything. Powerpoints (which are not even hers) are so unorganized and she reads them word for word in her 90 minute lectures. So unorganized and gives us no help. Literally teaching myself anatomy. Worst professor I have ever had. Guarantee that many MANY students feel this way.
She's the worst professor I've ever had. For lectures she read through the PowerPoints word for word, she also posted panopto videos saying the SAME THING about the PowerPoints (some 200+ slides). She made this class harder than it needs to be. I don't know what else to say, save yourself the stress.
There were minpracticals every week that were worth 1 point each, and some extra credit. There were 10 questions and you needed at least 70% to get the point. 3 exams in total. The Panopto videos and her lectures were identical so that seemed like a waste of my time. She rarely posts the powerpoints that had the models we were actually tested on.
This class was really hard. Obviously A&P is hard no matter what. But she makes it so much harder than necessary, especially during online school. We were graded on only exams and one other assignment. The exams were on so much information and she refuses to curve. If you can take this class with another professor you should.
Not really sure why people complain about Dr. Hogarth. Anatomy is a tough class. She clearly wants all of her students to succeed, and tries to be as accessible to students as she can be. The only downside about her is her tests are super hard. She is so smart and I feel would be best teaching medical students bc of how precise she is.
Only graded on three exams. Have to teach yourself anatomy and doesn't answer emails.
Whoever was upvoting her is smoking crack. She gives you minipracticals weekly, worth one point each (for lab) and you need to get at least 70% correct to get the point. No homework in lecture at all, couple of lab assignments worth jack. You literally have to teach yourself the material. IF YOU ARE WORKING FULL TIME, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Reads off powerpoints, had to teach myself. Ended up dropping the class.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! HARDEST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN! Had to drop...
Challenging course with a lot of memorization. Professor has high expectations but can come across as condescending. Unstuck study helped with study prep.
