He is kinda weird, but fun to have as a teacher. He gives bonus points all the time just for showing up. He does give pop quizzes but the questions are rediculously easy. 3 out of 4 of them will be random like "who will win the super bowl this year" and you put whatever you want. TAKE HIM!!!

He threw moon pies at us the first day of class. He made an 8am history class enjoyable and said things in a way that could be understood. easy bonus points. the group papers and additional reading was the only downer, and even that wasn't too bad. has good sense of humor, facilitates discussion.

He is the cutest professor on the hall! Very intelligent and his classes are fun.

Automatic B if you show up everyday. His tests are easy and straight forward. He is kind of weird, but not in creepy way. He likes to have class discussions, so speak up, and you probably will get an A. Take his class

This is the easiest history teacher that I ever took in my life. He gives easy quizzes, he asks questions like, who do you think will win the football game, lsu or auburn, easy A. He gives tons of bonus points, drops lowest grades, tells you whats on test. Its impossible to make less than a B in the class.

Easy teacher. allows make-up exams with no questions asked. bonus points, easy quizzes, drops 2 lowest quiz and memo (homework assignment) grades. no attendance policy. if you read you dont have to go to class, but may miss quizes. recommend taking him!

mr. holmes was a very good teacher, his quizzes are so easy. if you study his notes you will make a decent grade.

This class is by no means easy. There was a lot of material covered in class. He will give you every opportunity to make an A in his class; however, he will not give you an A. I made a B, because I was very lazy. I listened in class to the his lectures and rarely read the assignments. I learn better if the instructor talks about what will be on the test. I will take him for 136.

Currently taking him, If you take notes, and read his assignments, before the test! you'll do fine!!!

holmes is very witty and funny, he keeps the class interesting. he is very clear about what he wants you to know... he repeats himself a lot so you wont miss anything... he gives lots of bonus points so you dont have to worry about failing! make sure you come to class every day though because most of his test questions come from the lectures

I had this teacher for US History. He is really funny and he practically gives you the answers to his quizzes, which are rarely longer than 5 questions. Be careful however, he might fall in the trash can every once in awhile if someone gives him an odd answer. Definitely go to class though because he gives a good amount of notes.

I loved Mr. Holmes. He has a dry sense of humor that's hard to figure out in the beginning and he often comes across as weird, but he keeps the class interesting. His tests are based strictly on his class lectures and he gives pop quizzes on ridiciously easy questions. I would take him again for other history classes.

His class was great!! As long as you go to class, because he give lots of notes every day, you will get a good grade. His test come straight from his notes.

Dr. Holmes is an interesting and brilliant man. He is one of the professors I feel lucky to have come across in my college years. You really bring something meaningful and useful away from his lectures. He is also very truthful is his telling of US history; a virtue that is not very common in most histury teachers. I love his sense of humor.

kinda arrogant pretty easy though i never went to class and still made an A. lots of notes but they are in the book if you answer a question wrong in class he will humiliate you by laughing but i would take him again

Dr. Holmes is an awesome professor, very funny, very interesting. I thought this class would be boring when I first registered for it, but after about a week of attending it was my favorite. Only class in which I actually wanted to join in and participate as far as answering questions. Highly recommended-esp for history majors.Taking him again.

Nice guy and class isn't that bad. Read assignment and take notes, you will do fine. He gives you the short answer essays from the test before the test.

He's a very easy, very nice teacher. If you have a problem with your grade he doesnt even ask why, he just changes it. I enjoyed that class. I never opened my book and never studied and easily made an A. Just go to class and you should know enough to make A's on all the tests.

If I just saw him in the hall I wouldn't think he was cute, but it's something about his crude humor & sarcasm that's so hot. He KNOWS what he's talking about & is BLUNT. Unlike another teacher's class I dropped, he knows how to hit the high points of a SURVEY course instead of trying to get into minute details of every topic.

Holmes is the only history teacher that has been able to keep my attention. He explains everything to you clearly and he is a very easy grader. Attendence is not mandatory, however, I did about 3x better on the last two tests because I actually came to class. DON'T BUY A BOOK!!! I'm trying to take him again, he's that great!

I learned a lot about american history, he is very sarcastic, if you say something stupid in class he will let you know it was stupid. i enjoyed class he is very quirky, one day he is very friendly the next day he will be all business and just lecture(moody) Overall he is very good, tests are not hard, you have to write no multiple choice.

What a great teacher! He encourages discussion and class participation, plus he makes history interesting, not just memorizing a bunch of dates. He is also an extremely nice person. I would highly recommend his classes. I changed my schedule to take a 2nd class by him!

Good teacher. Very interesting. Witty sense of humor. Although it was saturday morning kept the class awake and kept it interesting. Keeps everything in context which helps understanding. Make the effort, get an A.

Don't buy a book. Not necessary. Take good notes and pay attention for an A. Exams required some basic memorization for short essay and basic knowledge for multiple choice. Bonus questions given on all quizzes/exams. Very fair grader. GO TO CLASS and you'll do well. I found class pretty interesting. Watched some interesting videos too.

He is hilarious and encourages class participation. I didn't use my book much except when studying ID answers for the exam. He tells you exactly what to expect which is a plus. He gives bonus on each test. It is important that you go to class. It's quite interesting plus his comments are hilarious.

Holmes is a good professor to take for history. His tests can be hard, but if you study and attend class each day, you should make an A. He gives plenty bonus, and really easy pop quizzes. Don't answer a question unless you know the answer cause he can make you feel dumb. He is interesting and makes the material fun.

It is impossible to fail this class. Show up and you have an A, and you will actually learn from him. He isn't a bore like most history teachers either, he keeps it interesting.

Took him for 135 and 136 and made an A in both classes. Come to class and you will make at least a B. If you study your notes there is no way you wll make under an A. He gives a lot of bonus points! TAKE HIM!

He was a great professor! He always made the lesson interesting and always seemed very approachable. Although portions of his tests were essays, it was very easy. It only required a paragraph answering the questions who, what, where, and when. Plus the test usually had pretty easy bonuses about things covered in class, so attendance is helpful!

I have a "D" in the class only bc I am going through a lot right now, but I will have a B by the time I finish the semester. This is a VERY. EASY. CLASS! I am taking the Saturday class so it's A LOT of studying and reading. Take this professor, he is very nice & gives LOTS of bonus points. Drops like 2 quizzes and basically what everyone else said!

Mr. Holmes is a great teacher. You have 6 online quizzes, a midterm, and a final. He drops the 3 lowest quizzes. He also offers a ton of bonus for going to class. My advice is to go to class, take notes, and read the assigned readings and you'll do just fine. I got an A in the class.

Class was fun..never knew what to expect. Summer semester, so hours were long but Prof. Holmes kept it interesting.

GO TO CLASS! Can't stress that enough. You want to be there when he randomly gives extra credit. I hate history and don't understand it at all but was able to make an A in his class! No tests, just quizzes and a final.

Lots of bonus opportunities that I wish I would have gotten more but I didn't always go to class (8am). Now I wish I would have gotten up! History is like a foreign language to me but I was able to make an A in Holmes' course. Online quizzes are hard but easier if you do the readings. DO THE ONLINE EXTRA CREDIT ON TIME. Mr. Holmes puts all of his class lectures online and offers plenty of bonus opportunities (you have to show up to class for them, though). There are six online quizzes that are multiple choice and short answer (you have to identify a person or event). He gives you the list of identifications ahead of time. Tests are the same format.

Easiest college teacher ever! I finished the semester with 68 bonus points. It's harder to fail this class than it is to pass it. He's really helpful too. He forgot to enter in my bonus points one day, and I told him and he fixed it immediately. Really nice guy.

I took his class on a Saturday, and honestly I enjoyed it. I had to do a lot of work outside of class, but that is to be expected when you only have class one day a week. He gives lots of easy pop quizzes, if you show up to class and pay attention to the videos it isn't a difficult class. (tests were essay questions, so REVIEW the study guide!)

Mr. Holmes is a great (corky) teacher! I learned to very much enjoy his class. He gives at most four quizzes (drops your lowest two) and gives bonus points all the time. Some for just guessing what he had for breakfast that morning. Along with the greatly appreciated bonus points, he always gives study guides. TAKE HIS CLASS. NO REGRETS

Mr. Holmes is an awesome professor!!! His classes are lectures, but he makes them interesting. He does tend to b.s at the beginning of class, but his lectures and conversations are amusing. He does everything possible to help his students. Tons of extra credit, his posts a study guide, and provides you with practice questions for the exam.

Holmes is a little sarcastic and can be a little shocking when you first meet him. I took him for both HY136 and HY135. He's an easy A if you put in work when you need to. He's definitely a class you can put on the back burner. Just show up to class and you're likely to get at least 20 points over the semester for attendance.

Okay. For HY 101 attendance was not required. I loved this class. He gave us four quizzes and he dropped two. His quizzes consistent of two short answer questions and you have to answer one. He gives you the questions beforehand so you will not be blindsided. If you can read the textbook and write 2-3 paragraphs you can pass. I made a 95 in here.

I personally thought his class was boring because I always fall asleep during his lectures but he's an awesome & funny professor. Before the end of class, he lets 1 person answer his bonus questions & if that person gets it right then everyone gets free points. His 4 quizzes & exams are very straight forward from the online practice questions.

Dr. Holmes is really funny. Take notes in class and you won't have to buy the book (I looked things up online when I needed help). He does weekly pop quizzes, but they are easy. He does give out a lot of extra credit. Do the study guide, know identifications for the tests, and go over notes and you will pass. Don't expect power points, he lectures.

Mr. Holmes is a great teacher. He is a little bizarre in his personality but super easy. When he lectures he just stands up there and lectures out of his head, no notes, no prompts like he's memorized every human event in history, precise dates and all, pretty much just write down everything he says and you'll get an A+

This class was honestly pretty easy with Holmes. I passed with an 89 and missed class a lot and didn't really study for anything. He's a bit strange but his tests were easy. He lectures the whole time in class though, but I just took notes and never read the actual textbook. Speaking of, don't waste your money on the text. You don't really need it.

You definitely have to come to class to do well. He does not use powerpoints much. Sometimes, he just talks the entire class about the subject we are discussing. I'd suggest writing down anything you think is important. He grades pretty easy and gives out lots of bonus opportunities. I was nervous for his class at first, but ended up doing well.

I had Holmes for HY 135 and he had powerpoint slides with an outline for his lectures, which gave the class structure. He also gave lots of extra credit opportunities for just showing up to class. His exams were a good mixture between multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and essay based questions. If you go to class and take good notes, you willpass

He makes history easier for people who don't have a good brain for it but still makes it informative. Very fun and enjoyable to be around, offers bonus point on the tests and gives good study guides.

Super funny, quirky, laid back teacher. Random Pop quizzes and bonus quizzes are completely free grades as long as you attend class. Your grade consists of 3 exams which he literally gives you every question that will be on them, and he gives TONS of bonus points. Lectures are long, but is an easy A. Posts powerpoints online, so don't buy book.

I dont know what those other reviews are talking about. HE is great !! Literally has 3 exams and he gives you a study guide for all. Easy grader and has lecutres that will have you laughing. He literally gives you pop quizes that are bassed on attendence or they are common sense questions. He does forget and takes a while to grade exams. EASY A !!!

Definitely someone you want if you need a break. No lectures, no zoom meetings, only assigned reading from a textbook that you can buy the Ebook version on amazon for cheaper than through the school. 1 discussion post a week and 1 quiz were taken. Very little communication was needed because directions were clear.

we had 2 tests and a final paper worth 160 points each. there is a forum discussion every week and thats all! not too difficult and very straightforward. the only issue with this prof is that he was a bit unorganized this semester but other than that it was a decent class.

Two words: laid back! If you like weekly discussions, a quiz occasionally. and 3 papers in total, Holmes is for you. He sometimes forgets to post assignments and occasionally his tests will not align with the study guide but hes good for a break and a needed breath in the semester.
