One of the worst professors I have ever had. Very conceited and does not properly teach the subject matter. He mentions the test will be on one thing but then it is on another. Avoid at all cost, trust me.
New prof. He keeps things interesting. Fun to listen to. If you miss too many classes he will fail you.
One of the worst professors. Horrible with communication and all the quizzes are pop quizzes. Do not learn much in this class and multiple essays. Highly recommend finding a different teacher. Should not be as stressful of a class as it is.
He will make you work for it. But the classes were interesting. He was helpful to me when I was having a difficult time. Must emphasize he makes you work for your grade!!!!
OK teacher who tells a lot of stories. A lot of what he puts on tests comes from his lectures and not from the readings but he makes you read anyway. I hated the fill in the blank parts of his tests. Was told it would be an easy A but had to work hard for barely a B.
Fun class. Book was not really needed if you review his lectures.
Prof Billingslea is a polarizing professor. All around a nice guy, just new to teaching. Not great at entering grades (accurately or expeditiously), & hyped up the class to be super easy when it wasn't. But he gave lots of extra credit. Read the textbook bc he tells a lot of sea stories during lecture. Lots of avmg experience, not so much teaching.
First semester in college and during COVID. This class was my stress release from all the other mundane classes. Prof B was lively and different. This was not your typical class but oddly enough I learned a lot. He knows aviation history. A must take.
More work than expected
Prof. Billingslea is like a box of chocolates, you never know what youre going to get. Most days Id show up to class to some random music blasting from the speakers, then hed launch straight into stories loosely pertaining to class and/or watch a movie trailer. Most days we barley made it to the slides. Long live Will Bill.
It's the Will Bill! My favorite professor ever. All these people saying his class is hard are begging to fail as he would put it. He is a great storyteller and an inspiring speaker. It is possible that he is God himself considering that he has done pretty much everything in his life. A living legend. The Will Bill.
Very easy class. Great guy. He spends most of the time in class telling stories about his time as a pilot. Show up, skim through the chapter before tests, and you will get an A.
Will Bill! He was my best professor this semester and made the class something I truly didn't want to miss. He spends lots of time telling stories from flying or the Navy, but the rest of class is PowerPoint heavy. If you pay attention to the highlighted parts of PowerPoints and the things that he keeps mentioning, you'll do fine. Just show up.
By far my favorite class Ive taken! Will Bill is an amazing guy and hilarious teacher. Doesnt always have clear grading criteria, but he does offer a lot of extra credit. If you pay attention in class, youll do ok. Hes super chill and will help you out if you ask.
Great professor. Very entertaining class. He usually just tells a lot of stories about aviation and his time in the Navy. Its really fun and the stories are really entertaining. There are a couple papers graded fairly and four short quizzes and a midterm and final. Its not that hard if you just pay attention to what he says and study his slides.
If you are into aviation, he is a great teacher
Great guy, not the best teacher. Don't expect to learn much in his class, he gets lost going on tangents all the time. Luckily he gives away a bunch of test/quiz answers the class beforehand. He assigns days worth of textbook reading; he definitely doesn't realize how much he's assigning. But you don't need to read the textbook to get a good grade.
Will Bill has improved a lot since he started teaching here, and I was lucky to take his class twice. Super funny guy and you never know what you're going to get with him, but he's very accessible if you need clarification on anything. He's super big on attendance so just make sure you come to class and you'll be fine.
He was great about providing opportunities for class engagement. However, he would go on tangents that would make his lesson harder to follow.
Gives info about the quizzes the class before. Lots of extra credit. Overall pretty easy
WillBill is hilarious and a great instructor but can sometimes ramble. Overall great guy and would take again
If you told me at the beginning of the semester that I was going to rate WillBill a 5, I would say you are lying. The class gets much easier as time goes on, he gives so many extra credit opportunities/bonuses on assignments, and he will literally tell the Qs on quizzes/tests before you take them. Hang in there, make sure you read, it gets easier.
He is really funny and obviously loves teaching this class, but it was the hardest class in the beginning of the semester. He tends to ramble bandits hard to study for his tests. If you fail the tests, its difficult to recover from it. He is pretty understanding though, so just go too lass, read, study and talk to him if you need anything.
Very funny and kind. Unfortunately lectures go way off topic so taking notes from the slides/textbook is very important. There's a few assignments and tests but nothing unmanageable.
Willie is a great teacher! Make sure to do the readings before class and take notes even though it takes a little. The first half is more complex than the last half of the semester. Attendance is MANDATORY and he gives out quiz questions in class before the quizzes. His lectures veer off from the material but he's funny. Make sure to do the bonuses
By far my favorite class I took 1st semester. The class is fun and material very interesting. His quizzes are very detailed and if you do not show up to class, take notes, and do at least some reading, you will not do very well in this class. He can veer off topic, but his stories are funny. Take his class! you wont regret it.
WillBill's intro class is definitely more difficult than other sections. The readings/lectures are long and dry. Pretty much just aviation history. The first quiz is tough, but IMO they get easier. Lots of XC opportunities. A couple papers/projects on boring content.
There are 4 hw, 4 quizzes, 2 exams, and 1 group project, 1 individual project. You have to read the textbook everyday b/c he'll ask you some questions about reading. Quizzes are short answers and uses lockdown browser. His exams are short answers, multiple choices, and matching. Some of his assignments' instructions are very brief. So, good luck!
Don't wanna take this professor again. His a tough grader. Most of the Homework instructions are very brief. Quizzes are short answers and hard.
WillBill is easily the funniest professor I have ever taken. However, is class is absolutely harder than the other section bc he gives more work and grades tougher. It still should be a breeze once you get through the first few weeks though. My advice: Go to class, read the textbook once in a while, and do the extra credit and you will be fine.
The Will bill is a must take, even though his intro class is more work and more difficult than others. Go to class and focus on the highlighted portions of slides. He is hilarious and often goes on tangents (who is the most gangster president vs the most boy scout president). Remember that WD Billingslea was the 1st naval aviator to die.
This class is not it. Lectures are interesting but entirely off topic. Very hard quizzes and tests over convoluted material that is nothing like the practice problems. Professor does not demonstrate how to do any of the problems. Professor grades incorrectly and can't do basic math. Avoid!
Good professor and easy class. Made a boring topic relatively interesting. Needs more practice problems/demo problems, but overall not a bad experience.
Grades based on how you engage. Miss 2 classes = 1 letter grade drop. The grading system is: 10% group presentation, 15% on a CAS project on a flight mishap (5-7 pg APA paper + PowerPoint about report), 10% over 4 homework assignments, 15% midterm, 20% across 4 quizzes, 20% final (look to quizlet), and 10% on a VERY SUBJECTIVE participation grade.
He thinks he is easy but he demands a lot. He doesn't understand that things that are second nature to him might needs to be explained. He needs to do more examples in class. This was the hardest A I have had to work for at Auburn. Take the other section for 4400. It is far less work and more enjoyable.
He makes the class interesting but there is a lot of work. Fair but hard grader.
One word can best describe how to get an A in this class QUIZLET
Fun but tough
The Will-Bill is probably the most most and entertaining teacher I have ever had. Despite being an 8 am in the summer, I looked forward to going to every class. Reading the textbook in absolutely mandatory but he offers ample extra credit opportunities and gives u plenty of chances to make a good grade in his class.
goodluck
I do not recommend.
He really is a great guy just makes his class tough for no reason. He requires a lot of extra homework and he isn't quick to give an A on anything. Literally told us at the beginning of class he made his class hard this year. i wouldn't take unless you actually try in class. he loves to pick on people during class too so be prepared
The WillBill is a great person, his lectures are funny and the class is overall very enjoyable. However, there is a lot of boring "filler" work and quizzes are entirely based on the reading in the book. A few extra credit opportunities and attendance is required and graded. Take AVMG1010 with Paul Esposito, he is much much better.
Do not take him if you don't have too! He doesn't actually teach in class and brags about failing students and making his class hard. Also, get ready to be picked on in class, and he'll make it personal. He likes to walk around during tests/quizzes to try and annoy you because it's funny to him. Also expects you to memorize the textbook
WB is interesting, but his quizzes are very hard and detailed, and you have to read the textbook. He gives many projects including papers and presentations. Daily attendance/participation, 2 projects/papers, 4 homeworks, 4 quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Overall, lots of work and I would take the other section that is easy, but WB is a fun guy.
Lectures the entire class. Gets off on tangents. Likes to talk about the Navy. Picks on certain people the entire year. Quizzes are very specific or very easy, no in between. Some ec. Lots of work. Not willing to give 100s. Takes points off because projects and papers aren't "perfect." Likes to talk about failing past students. Take the other guy.
Started the semester with a C but I earned an A. He gives plenty of bonus opportunities to make up for his hard quizzes. I learned a lot but he is not easy.
Compared to the other section this class has a lot of work! But is was fun and entertaining.
He tests from the lectures so be careful if you miss a class
Funny guy but grades without actually going through your work. Always takes off random points but will give others 100s without explanation. Quizzes are very difficult but he will flash a couple questions of the quiz the day before. Attendance mandatory. Lots of reading and random quiz questions based off of one sentence from chapter.
Will Bill is a fun guy. He makes his class interesting even if not on topic. The class is mostly lectures where he skips through slides, but he tells you what will be on the exams. Quizlets worked best for studying for me. His homework wasn't fun or easy, but if you put in effort, he'll give you the A. Extra credit opportunities matter!!!
You will learn new and interesting things! Be prepared to work and if you don't take notes in class then his exams are difficult.
THE Will Bill is one of the most entertaining professors I have had. He grades hard and with no rubric but if you try, he will give you a good grade. Be prepared to laugh because sometimes he just be saying the most out of pocket stuff. Overall, this class is an experience that every Auburn student should get.
Will Bill continually offered extra credit and help to those that did not understand the material. He gives reviews for all of his quizzes and exams. The questions are pulled directly from the homework, so if you do those, you will easily get an A.
Will Bill is the funniest professor you will ever have. He gives a lot of busy work and homework, but complete it according to his instructions, and you'll get a good grade. He offers a good amount of extra credit: DO IT. The whole class is 100 points. He's pretty predictable if you notice how he emphasizes things in his lecture. Super fun guy.
He will ramble about nonsense most of the time, and is downright unprofessional- especially when talking about a recent student's crash. Some people love him, but his teaching style and lack of organization was not for me.
Lots of people will say Puck is easier, but you will learn so much from WillBill's class. Take him! Dude is so funny and I genuinely looked forward to lectures. Lot's of hw with vague instructions but if you put in the effort, he'll give a good grade. Quizzes/Tests aren't bad but you have to study. Excused from final if you get an A in the class.
Not an extremely difficult class, but definitely not amazing. He never really talks about what he needs to and goes on soo many tangents, but hes very interesting. He offers a lot of extra credit which is great and hes a average-difficult grader so nothing crazy bad but difficult nonetheless.
I saw so many people who cheated on his quizzes. They would either A-- Sit in the back of the class and use their phones/notes or B-- Walk out of the room and finish the test in the lobby with their notes and stuff out somewhere else. What is the point of having the lock-down browser if you don't do anything else to prevent students from cheating?
You'll probably hate him at first, but after a few weeks in the class you'll come to like The WillBill and realize he's truly a lover not a fighter. Exams are easy if you go to class and listen to what he's saying. Also goes off on useful side tangents about career advice, and less useful but funny side tangents about things he likes.
Man incredible waste of time.
Not an easy A but was an enjoyable class! Missing class can cost you a letter grade.
You will have HW every week, attendance is pretty much mandatory, and you will have to try (read book), but Will Bill makes the class super fun and interesting, he is way more forgiving than he pretends to be, you will learn a lot about history and being a pro-pilot, and he gives tons of extra credit that I highly recommend you do (saved my grade
Attendance is mandatory, if you have 2 or more unexcused absences then your grade will drop by a letter grade. Pay attention in class! He stresses that you should read the textbook but I got an A in the class without reading the textbook. Take notes on what he says in class! Do all extra credit assignments they are easy! This class is very simple!
You will need to participate, you will write papers, and you will memorize random aviation knowledge. He is hilarious. I wouldn't say he is a fair grader, im pretty sure he gives out random grades for homewords, but he is for tests, and will go over your quizzes with you! Super nice 1 on 1. Read the book, study, and don't rely on random quizlets.
Make time to understand the homework if you want to do well.
He gives a lot of work
You've got to learn Will Bill's ways, go with them, and you'll be fine. The work is never that hard, just do what he asks and you'll be fine. Didn't really like the style of tests though, they're really specific answers (dates and names) which was my least favorite thing. Again, just go with it. A little odd, but just go with it.
He is not a fan of multiple choice tests!
A lot of work but it is easy
Prof B helped me a lot. He is really caring and took the time to catch me up when I was overloaded. Quizzes are hard but he literally gives you the answers if you take notes,
Likes to tell stories to make his point. A lot of homework but the assignments are easy. He gives all the test questions during his reviews so don't miss those!
Really hilarious guy. If you really enjoy the subject and are eager to learn I would take him. If you want an easy A with little to no work I would take Puck. I love his lectures, he goes on hilarious tangents pretty regularly, but the tests and work are pretty easy in my opinion. Just write down when he tells you EVERYTHING that'll be on the test.
An amazing professor! He may assign more work than others, but as long as you do it you'll have a good grade. He literally tells you the questions that will be on the quiz during his reviews. He will say you need it, but don't buy the textbook.
good teacher for 1010 but DONT TAKE FOR 4400. Hard physics class and he doesn't teach us anything in lecture bc he just tells stories. expects us to teach ourselves from homework. hes a nice and funny person but teaching is necessary for this class. granted, if you ask, he will help you but i shouldn't have to beg my teacher to teach me the hw.
The other section is theory only and no math. You will do math in this section. If you do and understand the homework, then you will be fine. Be prepared to ask questions for he won't go into too much detail unless you ask.
The Will Bill is entertaining! He has a ton of stories and that is how he teaches along with a lot of homework but he grades easy. Very understanding when I had a personal issue. Would definitely take again.
Busy but easy work
Easy to get an A if you try. A lot of pointless busy work but it's all easy. Likes to pick on kids and call people out a lot.
Be ready to do physics again. You have to do the homework to do well on the exams. He will breeze over things unless you ask questions, so be prepared to ask questions!
Enjoyed the class!
WillBill is an awesome professor and makes class fun and enjoyable. He offers numerous extra credit opportunities and gives you all of the tools you need to succeed. Be prepared for some cool stories and for your classmates to pickup nicknames from him lol
Do not take it if you don't want to be yelled at at 8 am. He is very boisterous. He picks on students, but some find it funny/endearing. I was not a fan—lots of PowerPoint homework. But in the end, if you email him he is very flexible and generous. He rounded my 88 to a 90 to get me to an A.
The Will Bill is AU AWESOME. Can be very demanding and direct but he is a ton of fun. He assigns a ton of work but grades easy. Do not pass on the WIll Bill! You will enjoy the class.
Lots of homework
His exams are mainly essay and fill in the blanks.
More work than the other section.
Dude is mad annoying. Class isn't hard he just rambles nonsense the entire period. Quizzes/Tests are all free response. He will pick on you and make it personal and waste time doing it. Talks more about himself that the content. Get ready to do assignments with no explanation or guidelines.
He tells a lot of safety related stories Gives a ton of busy work
Easy A if you do all the bonus work.
I really like him as a person but he is just not meant to teach. I love his passion and I see how hard he tries to make class fun, but he just comes off very annoying and all his class ever turns out to be is a waste of time. SO many homework/ project assignments that have nothing to do with the class and he doesn't have any sort of rubric.
Easy to get a B but you have to work for the A. He likes to call out students in class so be prepared.
Funniest teacher I've ever had. Make sure you know your stuff otherwise he'll make you stand in front of the class and give you a quiz (not graded)
He is a tough grader, and I never got a 100 on any assignment. You can't miss more than 1 class and every quiz is fill-in-the-blank or short response. He gives lots of homework that is very time-consuming. The work he gives is unnecessary and annoying.
A LOT of work but fun.
Will Bill is a great guy, but expect a lot busy work.
This was my 2nd Will Bill class. He's one of my favorite lecturers, he always has something interesting to say. That being said, you have to play his game. Listen to what he tells you to remember and you'll be just fine on his tests. Tests are short answer and aren't a cakewalk. LOTS of homework, almost all busywork type stuff. Not too bad overall.
He is so funny and I enjoyed his class but it is a lot of work. We made a ton of slideshows. He gives lots of extra credit.
Will Bill has a really good sense of humor, but he does a poor job preparing you for the exams. His rubrics are vague and there is a lot of homework, but the homework helps with exams. Just be ready to do a lot of reading and self teaching. The quizzes and exams are almost all fill in the blank.
He is hard on attendance! But the classes are fun.
This man curses a lot and makes sexual comments that are creepy. As a female he freaks me out. I would never want to be around him if I had a choice. Makes very mean comments.
Although his tests were hard I learned a lot. Plenty of bonus opportunities.
He helped me go from a D to a B
passion for teaching and leadership shines through in every class, and his teaching style is interesting and keeps you engaged the whole time. He has a way of connecting the material to real-life events and personal stories that make the lessons more memorable and meaningful.
Not a fan of multiple choice! Expect detailed problems - fill in the blank but he pulls directly from the homework and examples in class. If you do all the homework (and he gives u a lot of homework), you will be fine.
Best professor I ever had at Auburn. Could not recommend more
Tests are lecture heavy
Will Bill is awesome, super funny guy. Can be a bit of out of pocket sometimes and likes to pick on students (playfully) so always be on your toes. Exams are all fill in the blank, but very easy (he gives you the answers ahead of time if you pay attention). Be aware that he gives a LOT of homework. Again, easy, but very time consuming.
I freakin love this dude. Class is so interactive, and I left feeling like I gained valuable knowledge about the industry. Genuinly wants the best for everyone in the program- I can tell he really cares. Also he's hilarous so that's a plus.
Will Bill is SUCH a nice guy but he is the king of making an easy class extremely hard. The test layout is all short answer with a ton of acronyms you must memorize. I love him as a professor but this was a class I thought would've been butter but the hardest aviation class I've taken so far.
This was my 3rd Will Bill class. As always, awesome dude who cares a lot about his students. In other classes, it didn't really matter if he strayed off topic during lectures, but in this class I feel like he could've spent much more time working actual problems and discussing the physics. Quizzes/tests come straight from the homework problems.
Easily the funniest aviation professor there is. Always makes class engaging, but can get way off track or just be too much sometimes. Class is only hard if you don't try at all. If you end up with a high A before the final, you get exempt. Attendance is required. Don't miss.
