Clearly a dedicated professor in her discipline,Wilma adds flare to the courses she teaches. I have enjoyed her class and look forward to one more during my program. Lectures are entertaining and very informative.

Wilma is a kind teacher, and very approachable. We had a cancelled class and she was late a few times, so she's a little unorganized. But overall the class was fairly easy considering there is no final exam! (Only tested on a few chapters once)

W.O.R.S.T prof ever. Notes are disorganized. Can't communicate materials effectively. Marks are unfair. Bad attitude. Textbook is easy and interesting. You'll learn a lot by reading text yourself. If you wanna take the course, take it with other prof.

There is no need to attend lectures. She is either late or does not show up. Her multiple choice exams are very hard and she does not read your term papers (she skims through them). I liked psychology but she made me hate it.

Very unorganized, poor time managment. The first half of the class is fun, but due to bad organization - the last half is so rushed, making it harder to figure out what to study because the text book has so much content that's not on the tests.

Hands down, most boring teacher I've ever met. Not only dose she talk too much about herself and her kids...she talks about something that it COMPLETELY irrelevant and then ties it up to what were learning in some weird way that doesnt make sense to us

Her exams are easy enough to do well on. But lectures aren't very helpful, you learn most from doing your reading. she is not very prepared for lectures. She spends so much time saying what she is going to lecture, that she doesn't have time to finnish.

Easy exams just like all psychology tests. Late more frequently than I'd like. Lecture is slow, but helpful. Term paper hard, but I suck at term papers so what do I know. Covers less of chapter than I'd like too. Still, I'd take another course of hers.

Late too often. If take her, must plan to learn on your own! Teaches like there's no textbook for the course. Notes are horrible. Lectures are boring. Learn more in labs tho. Hard term paper! Exams fair--only if you read text.

Her lectures are generally useless. You could easily never go to class and just read the text and do the study guide and get an A in her class. Term paper is the only thing that she marks hard. Nice lady, but feel like my time could be better spent.

She is a professional instructor who makes your textbook worth its price. Very thorough and detailed in her expectations. Offers humour and sarcasm to those who are mature enough in her class to understand. A wonderful prof who teaches with examples.

Dr. Marshall is the best instructor I've ever had. Textbook material is supplemented well during lectures when she speaks from personal experience and offers intriguing anectdotes. Very helpful and happy to assist students with questions. A+ Dr.Marshall

Dr. Marshall is a very nice person. Sometimes she talks a lot of nonsense that has nothing to do with the course, but she still in quite interesting and helpful too. I would take her class again. Quite a hard marker, though.

Possess alot of knowledge,and can understand material from her lectures. But she doesn't go through the chapters thoroughly, just touches on them. Not to mention, she's a pretty hard marker, doesn't give you clear instructions on essay questions, and marks them hard too

HORRIBLE!I didn't learn one thing in her class! I gave up after 3 weeks when she was still talking about the word "construct" and nothing else.I didn't go to any of her classes, I only showed up for exams and I did well, had to learn by myself.

If you're interested in the subject, not just completing the course, Marshall is a great prof. But if you only are taking the class because you need the credits, look elsewhere.

At first i was like "boorrinnnggg and useless" but i've really warmed up to her. I love her sense of humor and she offers help whenever you need it. I feel she actually gives a damn about her students. Sometimes she goes on about not-so-relevant material but it's ok cause she covers what's needed :)

This woman is abominable. She expects a lot--time consuming projects. Very hard marker. Didn't like her attitude or teaching style. Don't take her unless you absolutely have to. I think she's probably taught a few too many classes, she seems tired and burned out. Beware

She actually cares about the students! She gives help whenever you ask for it. She's very nice, and covers all the material. I really enjoyed her lecture style, she has a way of capturing your attention thats unique. If you are into psyc definitally take a class with her!

I never met someone who can talk so much about nothing. She's a b***h but then again her class is easy.

Not the best teacher i think her mind is always someplace else when she lectures. Not all that clear with her direction.What is with that hair? She is always flipping it. Maybe the constant head flip is knocking her brian about making it impossible for her to think clearly. Nice IF you stay on her good side,one cell ring and you might as well die.

Exams are fair and have lots of multiple choice questions. Somehow lectures for two hours about nothing or one thing for three days, so be prepared to read and learn all on your own. Not really approachable, makes students feel inadequate. Has too much going on in her life to teach several classes.

She's an excellent teacher when she focuses on the lecture. She loses focus very easily, so don't ask her any questions if you want to hear the lecture. She babysits you by reminding you about assignments that are due so if you want/need a mother take this class. Hint: Use the CD rom and online tests. It's not a hard class and she can be funny.

Seems to care about the students and their future. She offers her own experiences so students can learn from them. She is an excellent teacher and makes the material as easy as possible. She likes to answer questions but gets off track and doesn't lecture what she intended to. Has a few quirks (don't we all) but overall she's a decent teacher.

My first year at college, and she was my favourite. I never really understood psych in high school, but when she explained everything it was ALL SO CLEAR! she is also really nice and friendly, and actually has a personality unlike many teachers.

I took Psych 1100 with Dare and I took 1200 with Wilma...I finally understand the first section because of her..She is great..Color comentary makes her lectures real. She repeats stuff so you remember. Take her class.

these people who say wilma's a **** are probably the kids who barely show up and act like its her teaching methods that are the reason they're failing. wilma is A NICE PERSON but talks about her family too much other than psych. she gets off topic and u could probably ace the class without even showing up....u dont even need her notes to do good.

Come on people ! She's not that bad....really. Her course is interesting & she cares about the students. She also has a great sense of humour. However, she is a bit "quirky" but that makes the class interesting. She explains things well but can get short tempered at times. It has nothing to do with the students so don't take it personally.

Wilma is a HARD marker when it comes to the essay questions on exams and the APA paper, but she's very funny (if you can handle sarcasm). However, she's ALWAYS late, and has a bigillion excuses for it... on the bright side, she doesn't care if your late for class either. Overall, she was good.

Her tests are VERY comprehensive, so if you don't like MC tests, rethink this prof. She is blunt and somewhat impatient. You really need to read your text. I find that attending lectures is a good idea, but you learn more from the book. She spends a lot of time at start of class waisting time. However, I love this class and learned a lot.

Wilma does nothing but talk about thunder and lightening, and her damn camel. She makes tons of analogies to help you remember her point, but NEVER MAKES THE POINT, so her analogies make NO SENSE. She's rude and she makes weird eye contact for extended periods of time (holy uncomfortable). Wait for another prof if possible

Wilma is a wonderful instructor who tries to make her lectures engaging and as informative as possible in the time she has to teach. While, her m/c tests are very long, it is still possible to do well on them, if you read the text thoroughly. You need to spend a lot of time with your text to really do well in this course, but it's worth it.

She is wonderful ♥ She explains things so well, using clear real life examples, and repeats the main points so you remember everything that you need to. Her exams are long, but they are fair - - if you read the text and take good notes, theres no reason you shouldnt get an A! Great sense of humor too!!

All her exams are MC and she tends to go WAY off topic so that there's no time left to learn the actual material. I don't know how many times she told us to go home and just read the section she didn't have time to teach. I used to love psych but with her it became a chore. Avoid her if possible.

Honestly, your textbook is going to be the savior of you in this class. She talks a lot about superfluous material, while introducing concepts at either a very snail like pace or rushes through it at rapid fire. You could probably not attend 1 lecture the whole semester and easily get a B-/B range. Funny but waste too much class time.

This class is very interesting; however, u have to read & understand the textbook because all are in there! She goes to all those condensed materials very fast, sometimes you will miss some important points that's why the textbook is very helpful! Exams are mostly MC and we got a paper project. Biology H&P is very helpful before u take this class.

Wilma is very knowledgeable in the field of biological psychology, which made lectures both entertaining and informative. For those worried about this class, you needn't worry: just read through the textbook EXTREMELY thoroughly, and you'll fare rather well.

I liked her and am looking forward to taking bio psych with her. Lectures are interesting and she brings up stories to keep you entertained. Make sure you read the text and use the study guide, tests are all MC and very comprehensive. If you study and pay attention in class, you will do well.

Great Prof, best I've had yet. I found that it was helpful when she repeated key terms, and gave out handouts ( with the key terms on them). She really cares about the success of her students and I learned a lot from her class. Her tests are thorough. She is a picky marker when it comes to essays- but it's for your own good for future preparation

very good teacher. thoroughly enjoyed her classses. she keeps classes interesting with little stories and anecdotes. A thorough reading of the text will ensure you do well in exams as well using the study guide prior to an exam or quiz is most helpful

Like others have said, make sure you read the text VERY carefully. Basically all of the questions on tests come from there. She just skims through the concepts quickly in lectures before going on and on about primates and other animals. Very hard to see what the big ideas are from lectures alone. Term project relatively straightforward though.

She is such a funny teacher if you like a dry sense of humour. It is very important to read the textbook, multiple times to ensure you know every detail because her tests are quite specific. I enjoyed her class, though it was quite difficult.

I love her. This is my second class with Wilma. It is true that you don't need to attend class and could teach yourself from the text. I know I could do this but I still go to her classes because I enjoy her lectures. I do have to say though-if bio psyc isn't required for you and you don't have an interest in it, don't take it.

Wilma is a great teacher. Forget nice, easy etc. You will learn the material with her. How to succeed: Scan assigned text chapters before class, go to every class, write down what she talks about, study the book based on what she focused on in class. Beware, exams are long and heavily multiple choice focused, but no cumulative final.

Found it strange when she would state "u look how i feel". Good? Bad? Was it a test? Hmm. Can't read ahead apart from her monthly schedule, but she'll help u as much as possible in understanding material. Read text, make loads of notes and ask questions. Attend class!

She's ok. Certainly keeps it entertaining with a lot of stories, but sometimes this makes it difficult to decipher what's important and whats not. The tests are LONG and a bit on the challenging side, but the paper isn't bad once you get going on it.

You might as well take this course through correspondence because this teacher is useless. Barely scratches the surface of important themes. Read the textbook word for word. She is interesting as a person but is too arrogant to be a teacher. Try's way to hard to push the sex drugs and rock and roll image. All marks are based on giant tests. Avoid

SHE DOES NOT LECTURE. Maybe once every three classes, for 15 minutes she'll give a clear and focused lecture on /actual/ information, but other than that, it's all stories, which are fun to listen to, but annoying when you want to LEARN. just read the TB and ask her questions. I mean she's a cute old funny passionate lady, but she's not focused :(

Wilma is amazing. To get an A simply just read the text thorougly and listen to her funny storys that represent themes in class. She told us if there was fresh powder on the mountain go skiing dont come to class!Shes hilarious. You dont need to go to class but she makes you want to. She gives a 10 page paper but gives you everything you need for it

If you have the option to not take a class would her I wouldn't. She is the worst prof I have ever had at Douglas college. I loved psych but her class made it so boring. She doesn't lecture and makes you learn class on your own. Do not take if you want a good mark

Wilma always kept the class interesting. There was no need to attend the class cuz all of her tests were straight up from the textbook. All of her notes were from the text anyways. As long as you read the textbook you'll get an easy A+ in her class.

You learn much more about her son and grandchildren than Bio Psych in Wilma Marshall's class. A considerable amount of every class is devoted to unrelated personal stories that are not even funny (then she says "I'm just trying to make you laugh"). However, she mentions what parts of the textbook will be tested, so have to attend. Not recommended

Massive 100 question exams. She uses an outdated Psych Text then the one you have to get (different page numbers - wording for definitions). I found that even though I studied my butt off, the best I could get was a "B" on exams. Dont take her night class. She is very tired and the class turns out to be a correspondence course.

Avoid taking psych with Wilma. Lectures are extremely long, boring and straight from the textbook. Spends 40 mins. going over things that are irrelevant to the whole chapter. She did not plan out her lectures properly and missed teaching us several chapters that were still on the tests. She is moody and not enthusiastic about teaching at all.

I just ended up stressing and regretting for taking her class. The tests were super long with over 100 questions and a written part, and basically covered topics not discussed in class or in the text. Her lectures were very hard to follow, and very long. She was not very helpful, as she gets frustrated easily over the tiniest things. unprofessional

Your textbook will be your best friend. Dr. Marshall does not teach and always goes off on a tangent during her lectures. Lots of cancelled classes and late plenty of times. On a plus side, you can skip this class and do just fine. Long story short, AVOID AT ALL COST.

Wilma is a fantastic professor. Although lectures can be long, they are generally entertaining and prepare you well for the exams. She truly wants her students to do well, and is willing to go over the material multiple times to ensure this. If I had the chance to take another course with her, I definitely would.

I took bio psych with dr marshal and i really liked her, the people who wanted to do nothing and get a good grade - didn't. She explains the material really well and always manages to sneak in a story or a joke to make the material more interesting. Would take more courses with her for sure.

Wilma is the best prof ever. For her Psycho 1200 class we had 4 multiple choice exams and a term paper. If you study her lecture notes (which you need to go to class to get) and the textbook then you'll be fine. She's a great prof and I really enjoyed her class!

She is a wonderful woman as Wilma, but a horrible professor as Doctor Marshall. All she ever does it talk in class, not about the subject at hand, and you hear more about her life in alberta and her 6 foot son than the course content. Would not take ever again, but would talk to her freely in my spare time.

Absolute worst professor. Is constantly distracted by stories and unnecessary information. To do well, go to her classes for the chapter guidelines that she hands out, then simply study the textbook and don't bother going to her class. Very multiple choice heavy, repeats sentences several times, doesn't follow her notes but tests everything in text

Most amazing prof I've ever had. Her lectures were always very inspiring, and the material was beyond interesting. I'd definitely recommend taking this course even if it's not required. There's a lot of information involved, and the book review is made a pretty big deal - but she's super helpful if you email her or go to her office hours.

Wilma is now one of my favourite psychology professors. She is very informative, elaborates topics in great detail and uses analogies to make sure we understand. The course content is not too much and there is one term project aside from exams. If you keep up with the content and read chapters ahead of time then the class should not be difficult!

Wilma is a pretty awesome professor. Yes, she gets sidetracked sometimes and yes, she is constantly late to class, but her way of explaining is very unique and helpful. She's very easy to talk to and to ask questions to, and is always very willing to listen. Send her your projects a couple weeks before they're do and she's happy to look at at them.

well caring prof. Made the harder material easier to understand. Approachable, cares for her students, if behind on a paper, she will help you. She is funny when she says her stories to make a point with the material on the slides. I only wish she would have a practice exam sheets on Blackboard. Would not recommend in skipping her class lectures.

I'm so glad I ignored these reviews and listened to a friend because Dr. Marshall is amazing. Her teaching method is efficient as she makes the material easier to understand while providing excellent examples/analogies. Her exams are long but very easy to do well on. Paper was a Book Review, that I was nervous about because I had never written one before, but she's gives lots of criteria and student examples to help. Tests are pretty straightforward but long. You really do have to study though. Great prof!

Her lectures and powerpoints are all over the place, and the connections she tries to make are very confusing. It seems like she is more concerned with being interesting and funny than teaching the material. I attended 1 lecture the second half of the semester and got an A+ from teaching myself through the text. Makes concepts harder than need be.

I loved her as a professor. She can forget things, but as long as you keep up with your work you'll do well. Her tests aren't too difficult, and there's 4 of them with about 100 multiple choice questions each. Really enthusiastic, and her lectures taught me a lot. Buy the ebook of the text if you can, she does require launchpad.

I always looked forward to her lectures. She used funny metaphors to help us learn difficult concepts. It was great that she put effort into making the dry textbook easier to understand. Really enjoyed her class. Wilma is witty and funny- I normally cant focus in evening classes but she made it enjoyable and interesting. To do well, the best advice I can give you is to read the textbook! Everything that is on the tests is taken directly from the textbook. So Read and Re-read the chapters multiple times to memorize everything in there and you will succeed in her class. She said in class that she creates a question on the test based on each page in the chapter.

Wilma is a very intimidating prof. She doesn't offer office hours and rarely replied to emails. Her schedule, syllabus and lectures were very unorganized. She would often start and end lectures late. If you're shy/have anxiety this is not the prof for you. Tests were unnecessarily long and had repetitive Q's. Had to teach myself once covid hit...

Gave us 20 min to do 5 mc questions and an essay and got upset when people weren't happy with her for not telling us we only had 20 min. Didn't even explain how to do the essay until the next class after our grades had already been posted. I've never had such an unprofessional prof in my life. She's very very rude to students with concerns as well.

Fair course load and Wilma is a good prof but I think the transition to online has been difficult for her. Lots of questions and miscommunication. It can be very frustrating at times. She does make some negative comments and doesnt take constructive criticism or input well but I believe she has good intentions. It will just take time to adjust.

In the grand scheme of things Wilma is a really caring professor. If she is the worst you've had, you're really lucky. Your grade is based on multiple choice exams with simple long answer "essay" questions, as well as one paper, where she holds your hand throughout the entire process. Pretty easy, straight-forward course.

She is easily irritated during class and seemed to be overwork. She spent most of the class time ranting about covid and barely taught the actual lesson. Her tests are pretty straight forward. Her use of blackboard seemed unorganized. Honestly, she seemed passionate and caring when she actually taught the lesson.

Wilma created an environment of negativity and an extremely detrimental learning atmosphere. she started our class by flexing how much money she makes, continuously embarrassed students for asking questions, and refused to give me an extension on a project (i asked late) while my grandmother was dying. the worst academic experience ive ever had.

Let me start off by saying, do your self a favour and pick a different professor if you can. The A- I received was me studying on my own the entire sem. Exams r based 80% on textbook material thats not covered in class. Lectures were basically wilma rambling on about outside research done and it was never tied back to the ppt slides.

Wilmas lectures were dry and youd be better off not going because you wont learn anything. Instructions unclear for the paper, she says one thing and grades on another. Exams were pretty heavy and she likes to add tricky questions. Just dont do it.

Class can be sort of content-heavy, and you'll do much better if you can nail the essay format she's looking for in test essays. I enjoyed her class and appreciated her teaching style! Great orator and knows how to simplify key concepts. Fun teacher to talk to. Her lectures were a bit too limited for my liking as so much of the course was text heavy. She goes on using extended metaphors which can be hit or miss and may go on tangents, but is still a learned teacher.

Her class is boring and she keeps on winking at her students, thinking it would make it an interesting class. Very rude and could blow up at students for asking simple questions. Wilma gets a lot of dislike in these ratings, but I personally found her lectures enjoyable and funny. Before taking any of her classes, I'd recommend that you pre-read the textbook before lectures. Tests are pretty easy if you study the textbook material and really understand the concepts and definitions. Grade relies heavily on the exams!

Don't get the textbook w/ achieve. You are forced to spend extra money for a platform she doesn't even create assignments on. Her lectures are more detrimental than helpful and you will be more prepared with quizlet than 90% of what she says in class. However, you need to stay for the lecture because of the 10% she smushes between her long stories.

My grade was exclusively the results of my efforts. She taught nothing but anecdotes of her nephew and ramblings tangentially related to the topic. She does random quizzes as a marker for attendance so you don't know if you should go to class or not, and her exams are just dozens and dozens of multiple choice. term project has very light direction
