I just finished taking statistics it is very hard class there is no easy way out, so study hard. Winnie did a pretty good job, it was her first teaching assignment. My only big complaint was that the tests are very difficult and the material does not always match the tests.
winnie did a great job for her first year. tests were easy due to open notes. she goes over the material on the quiz right before you take the quiz. tests were not that hard... all you had to know was what formula to use. i barely studied for the tests and i got a good grade. project aren't that hard once you get used to excel. great teacher easy A

very hard to understand. Homework not in compliance with lectures. Tests were not clear. Don't recommend her. Your better off taking this course online.
She is hard to understand because of her strong accent. The test questions are harder than the homework problems so students get poor grades and she boosts them up. A lot of students aren't actually learning the material which is fine if you never have to use statistics again.
she is one of the nicest teachers I had at BCC, always tries to help you at her best. I love her power point, it's very helpful and clear.
I like the way she teaches us. Her classes are well-prepared and well-organized, and her lecture notes are really awesome! Very useful! Always tries to help at her best!
She genuinely shows interest in her students and what they learn. her teaching style promotes understanding the material instead of blind mugging.
Winnie is a great teacher that is dedicated to helping her students learn. She is well prepared and makes learning Statistics understandable.
I took her BA240 several quarters ago. I had lots of fun. The class is kind hard at first, however, with her help, you will finish it with an A. Hint: ask her anything that you dont understand, she will help you.
She was very clear on what our requirements were from the first day of class. I learned a lot from the class and I really enjoyed having professor Li as my instructor. She is one of the best professors I ever had. She is really clear on what she wanted to say and her help was really useful when I needed it. Overall, very good professor.
Great teacher overall. Her notes is extremely useful. That's basically all you need to know for the tests. Quizes are take home. I enjoyed this class a lot.
From this moment I feel that class is horrible and she doesn't put enough time in helping her students after class. I hate p hats and everything about this class, especially when she didn't explain the group project very well. I arrpha this class!
winnie is nice but her teaching methods suck. she goes through like two whole chapters a day and expects you to do the homework even though you are not on that chpter yet. she seems to be a pretty easier grader, although she had to grade on a curve cus everyone was failing. her tests are a nighmere!!!! if i were you i would just avoid this class!!!
She's the worst teacher I've ever had. She's not considerate or helpful at all. Doesn't answer her e-mails, or any questions you might have. Don't bother doing the practice eams, the actual exam will be nothing like it... it will about 500 times harder. All of the quizes, practice exams, and solutions have typos. I would not recommend her to anyone
A well structured class. Winnie is well prepared for her lecture. The exams are not easy so prepare well, attend class, do your homework and study regularly. Then her notes are mostly sufficient to get good grades. The presentations and course project help get a real world insight. Overall an enjoyable and highly recommended course.
She was a good instructor who knows the material. She was organized and kept the class on schedule. She made sure students understood the material. My only objections were with some of the course format, and I'm not sure how much control she has over that - less graded homework, no group project, more emphasis on the exams.
This class was tough. She really knows her stuff and can talk about it inside and out, but explaining to a person that doesn't do stats on a daily basis seems to be tough for her. It was REALLY fast paced and there was really no time to go back over anything if you had questions. TOUGH CLASS!
This class was well worth taking. Entirely on-line, so there was no face-to-face interaction. Basically, Winnie facilitated us going through the programmed text book, but that's okay for this class. I'm satisfied with the class. I would recommend it to others.
Winnie was helpful and responded to every little online question or concern. She said that some of the anomolies in the text/tests would be corrected in future text/tests which is going the extra mile, in my book.
Winnie Li was an overall good professor. I wish you and your family well Winnie - take care!
I thought Winnie was a great instructor with great feedback that was helpful. I really enjoyed the class and I this will definately help me with my career in Project Management. Great class Winnie!
knowing the errors of the book which is the only material for the course would help - teacher please work on this. Students are not testers for the school material. and please fix your stupid web site Textbook Used*: (ex. ISBN#: 079074272X) you can not even enter all required info
Though I communicated with her on a limited basis, from observing communications with other students I saw she was attentive and helpful. I think the group discussion could have been organized and executed a little better, but no problems came of it. I would recommend this teacher again, but I wish a different textbook was chosen for this class.
I took this class online and was the only option for winter quarter. Text provided was useful and the materials presented were helpful for learning Microsoft 2007. My knowledge and skills set improved for taking this class. If you take this class prepare yourself for work a lot of work. I would have liked to see more support from the instructor.
It would be helpful to have the whole syllibus up front so that time and balance with other courses and life could be managed better. Assignments were not posted until 1 or 2 weeks prior to due date, which made planning very difficult.
Unfortunately, the instructor was ill for much of the quarter, and was unable to score our assignments or quizzes in a timely manner, so that detracted from the learning process.
The only real knock I can say against professor Li is that she left quite a few questions on the message board unanswered. I, myself didn't really post many questions asking for help, but some did and their questions went unanswered. She was out for a while due to an emergency, so we didn't get assignments returned promptly. I liked the class tho!!
I thought the class was good, but it was my first online class so I didn't expect the discussions to answer my questions. Also, I'm super happy about your baby arriving but the delay in grading made it harder to learn from the assignment since I haven't had time to go back and review and it isn't fresh in my mind anymore.
During the online class, Professor Li seemed to possess a fair level of knowledge of the topic. However, I was disappointed about her lack of involvement and discussion: I wanted to hear more about her experiences in the industry! But instead, I felt that I was simply completing the textbook, one chapter at a time.
Winnie has been very helpful and quick to respond to students needing assistance.
The syllabus & website & text were good. The process for getting the necessary software could be spelled out better in written step by step form. Instructor Li had a medical issue affecting her interaction level for much of the quarter. This was out of her control. But the college should have a better process for dealing with this scenario.
Winnie was helpful and knowledgeable. I would have liked to hear more real world experiences. I had trouble with the discussion boards. I felt the college staff should have provided support when she had to be out for medical emergency. Winnie has a great attitude though, you can tell even online!
I agree with others that BCC should have had a better system in place to support the students (and teacher) during maternity leave. It was a bit tedious to do assignments that were straight out of the text - I wish we would have had more diverse assignments. Overall, support & feedback from Winnie were good. Nice online class.
Instructor could have been more engaged. I understand there was illness and she gave birth during the quarter. A substitute should have been designated. Students were left to assist one another most of the quarter. All I learned was from the book, sadly, not from the instructor.
I enjoyed the course, though at times I felt like I'd had enough. I'm not going to know what my freetime now that it's over!! Well, the constant assignments kept me very engaged, will help me retain what I learned. I think the course was well-organized and easy to follow. Instructor was very available to help and answer questions. I appreciate it!!
Extremely kind teacher, cares about how well you do, and makingsure you understand for future use. She can be super hard to understand. Gives all presentations to yo to take notes on, YOU NEED THESE, without them it is impossible to keep up with lectures (uses whole 2 hour period on lectures). Nightly Homework/ near nightly take home quizzes.
Very knowledgeable teacher. Has some accent but can still understand her. Lots of homework, take-home quizzes and projects to build up your grade. Attendance and hard work is needed but not difficult to get an A. 90% of the class get an A- or above.
Does not help you very much. Be careful if you take this online, you won't get as much help from her as you would like.
Instructions not clear.
Overall this was a pretty good class. There is a lot of work and it is on yourself to keep up with the class, finish homework, quizes, etc. This class does require a decent amount of time though. Winnie you have been very helpful and have answered all the questions I have had very adequately, so thank you.
I must admit that I was overwhelmed at the first couple of weeks, but then I started to develop an interest towards it.Winnie is very helpful. She has self made videos that would help you step by step with your homeworks, quizes and project. I took this class online and I loved it!I didnt have to meet Winnie once, her style of teaching was good enoug
This course content is tough but Winnie Li goes out of her way to help you. She provides extra material in case you don't understand the book, including video lessons. She is always willing to answer your questions.
Very difficult textbook to understand. First 2/3 of quarter is crammed with homework and quizs. Generally no time for assistance. However, answers are provided after assignments/quizs. Teacher does provide samples for exams and group project. Expect to spend countless hours to study. It will affect your other classes because of time consumption.
Text book is horrible but teacher has really good lecture notes. Stats is a hard class but Winnie is helpful. I would recommend her over all the other stats teachers.
Sometimes hard to uderstand due to accent
She is really nice teacher but course is not easy. Tough course but she will help you if you have any question kindly. Lots of quizes, assignments, 3exams including final and projects however those are helpful to you. I recommend her.
I took her online class for BA240 and you have to put considerably more time in to do the work because this stuff is hard! You can never put stuff off in a class like this because it is fast paced and will affect your grade immediately! I recommend taking this class in person not online!
This was/is a hard class, I took it on line which made it even harder. Instructor Li had some really great video lectures that helped a lot, I wish there had been a few more of them. She was also really good about responding to questions quickly (this is key when taking an online class!)
This class could have been dramatically improved if there was at least some focus on the conceptual aspect of the material. Also, the notation was very difficult to learn and nothing was done to account for that. The lectures were hard to understand as there was a lot of poor grammer.
This was my first online course and I found this teacher to be far more helpful than I expected. She will give you so much time when you go to meet her that you feel a little guilty:). Truly a first rate teacher. The book she has to use is flat awful, though, so be sure to make use of the copious supplementary materials she will give you.
I think this class was extremely hard especially taking it as an on-line class but Winnie was very helpful as far as responding back to all my questions. The textbook was pretty bad too but Winnie did help as much as she could and she was very clear a lot of times with her responses. The class was hard but she was a great teacher. She was very nice!
The class requires a lot of time. I think the only way to succeed in the class if you solve many problems. Since I took this class online, it required a lot of work. Although I still attended some of her campus classes, she is easy to understand. She also offers outside help if you need any.
Difficult class, but the Teacher works hard to help the students understand the material.
Winnie is a good instructor, she doesn't hound you with assignment after assignment she lets the quizes and tests speak for themselves. If you like online classes then this is the class for you. She is very helpful when you go to her, and provides ample opportunity for extra credit!
Lecture notes and office meetings were very helpful. Textbook was very difficult to follow and understand.
It's a little bit to return the message
I took this as an online course. Professor Li was very helpful in explaining info over the internet and working one on one with students who needed help. The excel project was a great way to acquire practical skills and workplace training. Overall great statistics course.
The amount of work is more than UW math calc classes although hw is reasonable. Website is organized and it's defintely easy to navigate and keep track of what you have to do. Professor is helpful although not much was needed. Overall this class requires a lot of time, it's defintely not a slacker class.
Winnie makes sure you are given every opportunity to understand the course material. The text is a little lacking but she makes up for it with video and lecture notes that help you understand.
Winnie knew her stuff, and her lecture notes were good, but the book was not very helpful, and many students commented on this.
This professor is very organized and hardwoking. She does just about everything possible to help students do well. The material is not too difficult, and the textbook is helpful. Even more helpful are the lecture notes and vdeo lectures that the teacher puts online. Highly recommend both this class and this professor.
Winnie does care about her students. Her class is very hard though! Expect to due a lot of work similar to a high school math class. This does help you learn but it is a lot to keep up with. Winnie may seem strict but all she wants is for you to learn the material.
She is always available and willing to help. She was challenging, but does care about her students
she is a good teacher
Very understanding teacher. When ever I went to see her she was always on the phone helping someone with their questions. She is a very dedicated teacher.
Online class- Not very clear at times. Many lessons were learned from other college's stat. class pages. There are some sections with very few examples. Many of the lessons provided online are only slides/paraphrased presentation files, whereas real notes or outlined lectures would have been more helpful. More examples would be helpful too.
I found Winnie's class to be very well organized. Because of the amount of formulas used in the class you are allowed cheat sheets on the test. Very kind and willing to help. Overall, good class.
I took the class online, and I wouldn't recommend that. Mrs. Li does try to help a lot, and gives extra credit, but taking it online is not a good idea. If you need to take this class, take her class on campus, you'll love it. The material overall is not very hard, but when you are learning everything on your own gets overwhelming. Good luck!
Very involved, more interaction then a regular non-online class
Good teacher. Second time taking statistics. First time was with someone else. It was nightmare. Second time was much better. Teacher made all the difference.
Winnie Li is a very good teacher, I was a little afraid to take this class online, but her lecture notes and videos are very helpful, and when you have questions through email, she gives you quick response. I totally recommend to take stats with her!
very challenging content, difficult for online class. class had group project which was difficult to complete as a group due to scheduling conflicts
The course is well prepare and contains all the materials needed to succeed. However, you need to make sure you have adequate time for the course as it covers a tons of materials in a relatively short time-frame.
Knows the subject VERY well. Top notch educator. Betrayed by a very low grade book. Had most of her material stolen along with her laptop, otherwise enjoyed her very helpful Screencasts. Very helpful and responsive even at 2:00 AM. Took the class online. Love Statistics now!
Wonderful class and a very knowledgeable professor! My only regret is a)unexpected workload hampering with the course work b) taking too many courses for the quarter. I truly found Statistics entertaining and extremely useful... Thanks for everything.
This was my first online class and it was definitely worth my time. Winnie was available, helpful, and genuinely interested in making sure students understood the material. The textbook was subpar (with factual errors), but the lecture notes more than made up for this shortcoming.
God, I love this teacher,I never met a teacher like her.I'm taking her in class, because she is awesome.you will really learn a lot from this class,if you want to get good grades, you should work hard.I know all of you looking this website are trying to find the teachers are easy but Winnie, she can helps you from the classes.you will feel learn a lot
Hard to understand and impatient with class questions.
Do NOT take this teacher in the summer. She blows at helping students with their questions. I could hardly understand her lectures and she was completely impatient. She needed to cover a lot of material in a short amount of time, which takes PATIENCE and SKILL. Apparently, take her class online because she can only speak kindly to computers.
She knows her stuff. Her accent does take some time to get used to though. Lost several class days due to excessive snowfall, so she had to blow thorough a ton of material, which made it harder to grasp fully.
Winnie is good but you really have to stay on top of your work. The class is very fast and a lot of homework and projects are required. If your willing to take the time it's okay but if not you will get behind so quickly.
She is so nice! Makes materials interesting, wants everyone to do well, and very very helpful. She explains things in simple ways that are easy to understand. I always found her very helpful in and outside of class, makes herself available through her office hours, answers emails, takes students seriously. Highly recommended
I took her class last quarter. First, her Power Points and Quizzes are extremely helpful, easy to follow. You have to work hard in order to get good grade. Study!Study!Study. Although there were a lot of homework, quizzes, and project, I really learned much from it=] I like her and her class very much!!!
Awesome teacher, Great with examples. Works hard to make sure you get it and will take the time to show you other examples. Just follow her examples step by step. If you don't understand a particular aspect just tweak that part of the example and ask her "What if...?"
Easy class, for me at least
Class was very unorganized, but there where too many people in the class for the teacher to handle. Needs to be more clear when explaining things. Videos and power points are very helpful but sometimes hard to get the first few times. Lots of homework and studying! Have to make sure you are doing homework a few days before to get it done on time.
It's a serious class with a professor that knows her stuff. Take this class if you want to learn something and do some decent work, not if you want to slide by.
In order to get through this class with less trouble, GET A SOLUTIONS MANUAL. It's not available on campus book-store, but you can purchase it on-line. This class took a lot of work!!! I invested over 250 hours on-line course and wasn't able to get an A.
Very well done supportive and study materials, video and power point tutorials which made the study way easier than just reading the complicated textbook.Vera well knows her subject and responding promptly to student's requests. I strongly recommend this teacher to whom who is thinking of Statistics classes.
Attended online course. This class was poorly designed for online delivery. Take this one on campus if possible. Winnie is very nice, and is willing to give students one on one time. However, this course needs more video or supplemental materials to make up for a textbook that doesn't work well for independent learning.
The textbook stunk because it was supposed to have supplemental materials, but Winnie was a very good instructor and it is obvious she is talented. I'll bet her on campus class would have been GREAT, but online learning is difficult and challenging.
I like the class very much. Winnie is a good instructor, and her class is good. This is my second to choose Winnie?s classes. I think the assignment can put up a little bit earlier, especially the final project. Another thing is the edition of textbook. I think the some data in PowerPoint should update.
This was a good class and a good teacher. There is alot of book work and weekly quizes. no test though. There is a final at the end of the quarter that you don't find out about until 2 weeks before its due. thats the only frustrating thing. Other wise not a bad online class.
Took the online course. Winnie is very nice and willing to help if you ask. Be prepared to spend ALOT of time online, doing hmwk and studying.. its just one of those kind of courses. The tests allow two pages (front/back) of notes and the final is open book/notes. Watching the video lectures are the KEY to understanding this material.
Prof. Li is very accomodating in terms of her time (offering onsite class sit-ins to online class students, individually meeting with each student to review exams), but covering an entire text in 12 weeks is too much and perhaps something that should be split into two quarters. Prof. Li also had good exam formats and practice materials.
Good class, I wish I was better at working with Access
Instructor tries to used same process for online / campus students and does a bad job separating the two. Homework answers weren't available in time to be helpful for quizzes. Ultimately what was helpful was on-campus tutors, and outside resources from the public library.
This class was well structured and instructions were easy to follow. The quizes and assingments were helpful in learning new vocab and getting better in applications such as, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint. I would recommend Winnie if you want to take a computer science class or you need CS250 like I did for WSU. She was always happy to help anyone.
I took this class in an online environment and compared to other online classes I knew what to expect each week. The assignments, discussions and quizzes were clearly outlined in a timely manner. Not much interaction in the discussion sessions compared to past instructors in others classes but the she was very responsive to any questions I had.
CS 250 that I took with Winnies was an online class, and as you might have known, you work independently on an online class. The good thing is, she always posts every assignment ahead of time and always responds to email and questions quickly. Pay attention to what she's aking for and you'll be fine! There's always extra credit as well!
I only take online classes but this is one that I would recommend taking on campus for this instructor. The materials are not great for an online class and the text book is not good for idependent-learning. Instructor seemed overwhelmed and not always helpful. She posted little in discussion boards. Most questions were answered by other students.
It is a great online class. Have weekly quiz, discussion and homework assignment. We usually have to use word, excel, power point and access to finish the homework assignment. Some are easy and some are difficult, especially the access assignment. I wish I know how to use Access before taking this class. Overall, it is a great and useful class!
The online class was overfilled, so it was very hard to take it. It is definitely better to take this class on campus. So many instructions that are conflicting often, too much new information that is not covered in the textbook sufficiently, however, powerpoint slides are very helpful. If you have an option to take this class on campus, do it!
good class
Online via BCC Distance Ed. Straightforward class: read the text and pass the exams. Assignments are strange ? you can do the requested work and still only get 80%. Discussions are lowest common denominator, quality is affected by peers. Overall worthwhile as the content is relevant to anyone who uses a computer and the internet.
Overall, I'm very satified with the class and the latest edition of the book, Principles of Information Systems, will serve me as a good reference for my work.
Class is difficult if you have never taken an online course. Make sure to read students discussions and be prepared to teach most of this to yourself.
As an online class, this was probably one of the worst. It would have been much more effective to just show up to her classes on campus. She wasn't bad as a instructor, but she definatly didn't lead an online class as effectivly as they can be. I'd recommend her if you are going attend her onsite classes but not as an online class instructor.
I found this class to be difficult in some part but also easy in some part at the same time. We were to learn so many things in such short period of time and I am still struggling in studying for the Final that is coming up in few days... However the Winnie (Instructor) is definitely willing to help out. Great teacher, but HARD CLASS...
I first found the class to be pretty difficult but as the class went along I figured out how to perform new things using a lot of different computer programs and ultimately like that I have taken it. Take the class with an open mind and be sure to have friends or parents that know how to use excel and access.
Took this class online. I do not recommend it!!! I'm sure she'd be a good prof in class but a horrible online experience.
Given the choice I would have taken this class on campus vs online. Lectures consisted of PowerPoint presentations and videos being posted. Sometimes her explanations of concepts were hard to grasp and had to rely on other methods for help. Winnie was good at replying to emails in a timely manner. Class took a lot more effort being an online class.
This class was interesting, but not easy. I took it online, but it would be a good idea to taking it on campus would be a better choice. Just reading the textbook is not enough. Winnie was always available to answer questions and give feedback. One of the best online classes I've taken so far.
This class was quite difficult, when taken online. I would recomment this professor, but if you can, take it onsite. (Or at least half/half, since it is hard to understand it all by yourself just from the book and lecture notes.) Good luck to everyone!
3 things would have made this instructor/class more effective: (i) centralize, organize materials/syllabus (ii) clarify/communicate expectations/instructions for assignments; provide mapping to supporting matl's. Time spent searching web site could have been better spent learning content. (iii) provide answer key for homework earlier in process.
This class needs more lecture or tutorial specifically in regards to Access. If you have little experience with Access this class will be extremely hard.
This class is very hard to take online. I think in order to improve it the lecturs shold be video recorded and put online and should be mandatory.
Professor was very helpful. Always provided feedback whenm necessary. I took the class online so the workload seemed overwhelming. Prof. had lots of videos anmd PPT slides tht were very helpful and alway had enough info from the book's chapter.
The PPT slides and videos were extremely helpful. I took this course online and the workload seemed a lot but feedback from the Prof and discussion boards were very helpful. However, I would recommend students to take this course onsite, I commend Winnie for making it very comprehensive and efficient for her online students.
Teacher was helpful if you were within distance to visit and receive one on one help. Very difficult to get the necessary support if you lived far away. Took the class online so besides the power point slides you had to learn it out of the text book which isnt always fun.
The professor makes it clear what is to be studied/reviewed, and what the tests will be on. I took this course online, and found no additional obstacles came with taking the course in this format. Professor Li always responded to questions in a timely fashion, and posted assignments with ample time for completion.
This class was helpful easy and convenient. I recommend taking it.
I took this class online on spring 2009. The instructor was really helpful and always response to your email and questions. the class was fun and clear. I recommend this class for you if you are in business major and want to know more about the importance of IT in business world.
For the online class it was prety simple. The thing to keep in mind is that you stay on top of the class. Just make sure to get your work in on time and this class should be a breeze
I just took her class in Spring 2009, i learned a lot from her. She is very good in explaination and helpful. Not too easy class but just do your homework, preview her power point lecture and attend in class everyday, you will get A.I got an A HIIIIIIII!
Lecture notes were very helpful and she if pretty quick to respond to your questions
Online format - good materials online. Summer qtr is fast paced. Instructor responds promptly to online forum.
Very smart teacher, knew a lot about statistics and excel. Heavy accent so it was sometimes hard to understand, but if asked she could always explain. Really heavy load because it was a summer class, one of the harder classes I've taken. Overall, she is a good teacher, she grades hard but she is very smart.
I took this class online Summer 09. Very difficult class to take online or probably even at the college. I would definitely reccommend taking oncampus because it is a really hard class. Lots and lots of work. Did not have much free time at all this summer. Instructor is good. Grades fairly and equally. Must devote a lot of time take. Good teacher.
If I had to retake this class I would make sure this was the only class I was taking that quarter! A lot of work and requires a lot of time in front of the computer/text book.
I took an online class from Winnie, which was very worthwhile, but I think had I known better I would have taken her class in person. She's very helpful and good at explaining things in person but something is lost in the remoteness and technology management issues of online. For example, sometimes video lectures did not synch well with slide decks
Winnie is very willing to help and dedicated to having a good communication with her students. The material for this class is VERY hard, no kidding. But the lecture notes and video (I took online class) were very helpful. Be prepared to handle a lot of formulas and data. Background of EXCEL would help.
A very difficult class, though Winnie is always willing to help out. Taking the class online is not the best way to go at all, however. Make sure to get started early on everything, and be as involved as possible.
THE CLASS WAS ONLINE BUT IT WAS GREAT
She knows her stuff, but the class is hard! Learn to work your calculator.:)
Pretty hard class. Had to go to campus to take exams and finals, as well as to pick up the exams and attend the review session.
This class is the hardest class I have taken. I am good with math BUT this class was way harder then I had thought.I took it online which I now regret doing. Winnie is nice and willing to help but sometimes is not clear in what she wants.A lot of busy work and if you get behind it is VERY hard to catch up. Exams and final you go to school.
tHIS CLASS IS VERY HARD I CAN SUGGEST TO EVERYONE DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE.
This was a very hard class (it was a Summer class so was 7 instead of 12 weeks). Textbook was not very helpful. Winnie was always prepared and better than average instructor.
This class was a summer class, so instead of being 12 weeks it was condensed into 7 which was pretty demanding and rigourous. The material is hard, but the lecture notes are very helpful and help you solve the problems and learn whats expected of you. Know your formulas and how to use your calculator! Winnie is also a great resource.
Math oriented rigorous class. Knowledgeable instructor! Lots of work to do, even if you're already familiar with the material and going at normal pace (Summer is hell!). Tends to be repetitive in some aspects of the class, but gets ingrained that way. Recommend in class rather than online. Solid introductory class.
I have totally enjoyed this class and most of all I have enjoyed working with my group they were fantastic and hard working and everyone was able to pull their weight plus more since we had only three members and 4 variables. I enjoyed watching the videos first and then going through the lecture notes. They were nicely organized and contain infor
Winnie was really helpful when questions needed to be answered or if you needed help with anything. I was always able to email her with questions and got a answer really fast.
This class was only difficult because you had to an inordinate amount of busy work. I would spend an hour trying to put my homework in the correct format, when it was a problem that took a minute to do. Get a digital camera to take pictures of your homework. :)
This class was interesting taking it online. Having the lecture notes online was so helpful. make sure you read and listen closely to the online videos! they give you a lot of helpful hint for the exams and quizes!
If she had subtitles, or anything more than an extremely basic command of the English language, then I MIGHT be able to recommend her as a teacher. She's a smart lady, but there's no way to understand any of the words that come out of her mouth. I worked in Asian restaurants before and have no problems with accents, but with her, good luck!
Winnie is an awesome teacher. She's very clear, organized and helpful. Taking this class online was a bit challenging, but it was manageable. She provided online tutoring sessions which were very helpful. The class was straight forward, however getting a hold of teammates for team project was difficult. I do recommend Winnie as an instructor.
Winnie knows her stuff. She is very approachable for help, and went above and beyond to give students recorded lecture videos and plenty of support. But you must do the work!
This class was extremely time consuming. It was difficult on the level of work that needed to be completed in the given amount of time. Professor Li offers different versions of the same material to suit different learning styles, although she lacks in the area of returning work/solutions in a timely manner to help gain more clarity.
So much work required for such little payoff. One of the most unpleasant classes I have taken, but not because of the instructor.
This class is a challenge: PERIOD! Dont take this class as any easy way to get by online for Stats. She jam-packs 2-3 chapters in a week; a quiz and Homework assignment is due every week. You need to spend a lot of time online to prepare and study. It is hard & frustrating to understand her because of her hard accent. I found myself rewinding a lot
This class is a challenge, be prepared to work hard and stay on top of things. There is LOTS of work, but it all makes since in the end. Listen to the lectures they help so much and just practice all you can to stay ahead!
Winnie was pleasant, professional, timely, and helpful. Her behavior made me feel we were in this together. She took the time to review my exam with me when I couldn?t make it to a review session. It was hard to draw the distribution curves (in Word). A little more direction on how to do that would be helpful.
This class was pretty hard. If you want an easy A, do not take Professor Li's class. If you want to actually get something out of it, take this class. It's a lot of work, but it pays off in the end. She's very knowledgeable.
I found the course well laid out. The homework assignments were challenging and that it aided the learning experience. My only complaint with the course was the textbook. I found the textbook confusing and not very helpful.
Ms. Li is a very organized teacher. The class was nice and I learned a bunch. She has a very good understanding of the subject of Statistics. I liked the multiple areas of learning available, video, powerpoints, and text book.
This class is by far the most challenging class I took and taking this class online doesn't make it any easier. So if you're looking for an easy A that's definitely not the class for you as statistics are harder than we could think! But Winnie is very knowledgeable and really helpful if you need extra help.
She is great and helpful for all the time. There is a lot of home work, you will need 3to4hrs per week to finish the home work, and there is make quiz too. So you have yo work hard to get an A.
This class is well organized. The materials posted by the professor were very clear and easy to understand. I really like how the professor put the class together.
Winnie Li was very helpful as an online teacher. There were many sources made available to you including video and lecture notes. The homework was hard, but it really helped to understand the concepts learned in class. There are quite a few assignments, but they make it easy to learn the material. If you are consistent in hw this is a great class.
This is a very challenging course but Winnie was very helpful when you ask questions. The textbook is particularly hard. I recommend reading the textbook then listening to the Lecture videos while taking notes. If you don't have time for lecture notes, textbook reading, homework and practice problems I would not recommend this course online.
Because this class is so challenging I wouldn't recommend taking it online, however if you choose to take it online, Winnie is a great instructor. She makes her expectations clear and is more than willing to help her students when they have questions.
The class was very challenging. I took the course online and wish I had kept up better. If you choose to sign up, make sure you don't fall behind!!
It's a very challenging course, and I do not recommend it for those just starting off with statistics. If you put in the time and effort it is worth the hard work. You will learn a lot. Fortunately Winnie is very kind and willing to help with any of your work.
Make sure you read the book and then listen to the video lectures WHILE taking notes if you take this class online. Pretty everything has already been stated, very hard class, need to work HARD at it and also, Winnie's VERY HARD accent makes it so hard to understand ANYTHING in the video lectures. My advice, take it on campus and save a headache
This is a tough course but Winnie provides lots of instruction. Meeting with her after exams really helps to understand your score (something that not all professors do).
As stated before, this is a very difficult class. You will need to use every resource available to you (textbook, video lectures, powerpoints, discussions) in order to succeed. If you have the time to put the work in to it, you'll learn a ton. If not, you'll have a very difficult time. It would be easier in a physical classroom.
Very hard class but she is very helpful and responds quickly. I took online class and there are lot a work but all the works helped me to do well on the tests. Take this class.
This class was pretty intense at the beginning of the quarter with several things due every few days but lightened up as the material got harder. Make sure to study hard and read the lectures or you'll have trouble with the homework and tests.
Wow I don't even know where to begin... Yes, she is VERY difficult to understand and takes it personally when you can't cut through her thick accent. On top of that, she's also not very helpful and can be rude. She is far too difficult for those who don't already know the subject material inside and out. Stay away and save youself a headache.
Statistics is not interesting and hard, but Winnie does a great, great job in making it easier. Her slides and videos are very helpful. Yes, she has a funny accent but she is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Always prepared for class, doesn't waste a minute. Most of all, you really know what to expect on the quiz or test! Recommend!
The class is not designed for an online course but has been poorly modified in an attempt to be one.
Pros: Winnie is very organized in the schedule, powerpoints, and video lectures, which is very helpful for this difficult course. Cons: The lectures do not always match the powerpoints, and it can sometimes be a challenge to understand Winnie in the lectures. The pace of the course is fast, so students should set up a planned schedule early on.
Prof. Winnie Li is a great professor she was always on top of all assignments. And most of the time very clear on what needs to be done. Her lectures/ power points and lecture videos were very helpful. Statistics is very hard for me to do online that is why I did not receive the best of grades not her fault.
The teacher provided tools that helped more than the book did. Read her notes!!!
This course itself was VERY difficult, but Winnie has some very valuable tools on the Blackboard. Pay attention to her notes and watch the video lectures!!!
I found statistics very interesting after I attended this course and intend to pursue it more.
The subject material was sort of hard to learn with the book, but her lecture notes and videos were helpful. She gave out some extra credit, and allows cheat sheets on the exams. The team project is a breeze when you follow the videos she posts.
STUDY! She expects at min. 75 hours put into this course. If you're a procrastinator, or haven't taken an online course, I would not recommend taking this course online. She is hard to comprehend, prac. exams don't always match actual exams, lecture notes/media isn't always clear. She response to emails 2-3 days later. Lots of individual studying.
I took the online class and it was very time consuming. You move very fast through chapters that it's hard to keep up. She was very helpful when you needed help, but sometimes it was not soon enough since there is usually a quiz or assignment due 4 days a week
I really love this professor. One of my favorite professors ever for an online course. I highly recommend you all take this course online or onsite. Whichever works iwth your time schedule better. Always read the powerpoints, talk to the professor if you ever have problems, she WILL be there for you. ONe of the best online courses I have taken!
Took this class online. PowerPoints were great in teaching the subject. The assignments, discussions, quizzes, and individual project take time, but are easy if you study. The group project can be hard to coordinate and organize. The exams are not similar to the practice exams, but still doable. Not an easy course, but you will get an A if you try.
Study hard (min 15-20 hrs/wk).Textbook is out of print. Postiives: Winnie works very hard to help her students as much as possible and does a great job in her post-exam 1:1's with students explaining the problems they missed.
I have learned a lot from this class. This class is well organized even though the material are hard, the instructor give me a good war to approach this study
I took this class online. Extremely hard. I would not recommend taking this class online but if you must Winnie is the teacher to take it with. She was extremely helpful. Lot's of work but it all is worth it in understanding the material.
The subject material was sort of hard to learn with the book, but her lecture notes and videos were helpful. She gave out some extra credit, and allows cheat sheets on the exams. The team project is a breeze when you follow the videos she posts
Overall, Ms. Li was a good instructor for this class. She definitely knows the material. This is a difficult course though, and at times she could be a little tough to understand, both spoken and written communication were not her strengths.
Actually, she is nice when we ask something even she gets lunch. She has much passion to teach, so if you go to her office, she trys to teach you when you understand well. However, the calss has many Assignment and quiz. So, if you wanna get A, you need to read the textbook, and follow the power-point step vy step.
Actually, she is a nice when you ask some question, and has much passion to teach, so if you go to her office, you may be understand the concept definitely. However, the calss is not easy to get A. You need to read the textbook, and follow the power point step by step.
This class is a lot of work online, so be able to set a lot of time to the side to study. Can be difficult if you don't keep up and read the notes online and understand everything. Every point matters in the class. Also group project so be prepared for some people not responding or are just totally lost, so you may have to help them.
A lot of work required, but as long as you don't fall behind you will be ok.
Actually, she is nice when you ask some question and would like to teach. So, if you go to her office, you might understand about your queation definitely. However, the class is not easy and needed to do many materials, so if you get higher grade, you should read the textbook and follow power point step by step.
the lecture is really good, it cover almost everything on the test and give really good definitions.
Difficult class, but very well structured online. Excellent instructor, will go over exams with you in person to explain what you did wrong. I just wish the hwk wasn't all even #'d questions. Makes for too many trips to stats lab. Her English is fine. The resources are all there but you must put the work into it.
This class was very hard, but was laid out nice and the information was very convenient to find. She had the course set up pretty well and you always had advance notice for anything coming up, exam, quiz, homework, etc. She was very understanding when you did not understand and helped throughly explain things when necessary!!
Enjoyed the course but video lectures were hard to understand. Felt the problems were relevant, but sometimes poorly worded on quizzes.
Winnie is helpful and knowledgable about the material. Her accent makes her video lectures somewhat difficult to understand. The material is NOT easy and you should expect to dedicate a lot of time to the course. I actually felt that the amount of homework and required discusssion (online class) was excessive (my only complaint).
Helpful professor. But it was a hard online class. The video lecture helped, but still have to read all the materials carefully to get a good grade. Winnie was a nice and understanding professor. Take this class if you really wanted to learn statistics, but you really need to study hard.
I took this class online. The topics covered are deep, but this is statisics. Winnie grades the homework and participation generously and offers extra credit but you must understand the material for the final. You are allowed "cheat sheets" which is awesome but you must study - which, I would expect, from college level courses.
Winnie is an extremely helpful professor, who wants her students to succeed, though this courese is designed to be extremely hard (I believe to be a weeder class). The pace is very fast, and if you fall behind at all your grades will suffer dramatically. If you take this course, do so without any other classes, or without a busy full time job.
Very helpful if you have a question. She is quick to reply. The homework prepares you for the exams, and she gives a practice exam that you can look over. Great teacher.
I took this class online. She had very helpful lectures and lecture notes available online. The only part of the class that I found frustrating was the discussions.
I took this class online. Lectures notes and study materials were provided well. One thing I don't like this class is discussion. I don't know how much discussions helped me.
Winnie is a great professor!!!
With the online section be ready to adhere to a highly regimented schedule that involves a high volume of work and stress if you fall behind because everything builds on prior info. Winnie does make herself available to help, suggests resources, and is mostly gentle with grading.
Ms Li expects you to study and pay attention to deadlines. There is every opportunity to ask for help and she is friendly and wants you to succeed. She goes over exams with you and makes sure you understand what you missed. There are no tricks or surprises and she grades pretty easy. She also has writing these reviews an extra credit assignment.
Proffessor Li was very helpful when I came to her for help. Statistics is a hard class but she eased her students through as much as she could. She went over tests with you in person as well (i had online class).
Took it online. Winnie is an overall good professor. She expects a lot out of her students and you need to study HARD in this class... the last 2 chapters and the project are brutal. Hands down the hardest class I've taken @ BCC. But she will take the time to sit down with you after a test and go over what you missed. She is accomodating as well.
Well....this class was pretty hard....VERY HARD, but the teacher was extremely helpful. She uses lecture videos and power points, as well as allowing students to drop in for one on ones.
Took online. Yes the class is hard, but not for the right reasons. Text and supplements are very dense and over complicate otherwise simple math. Even tutors on campus who had this instructor have told me they do not truly understand the material afterward. If you care to know the "why" behind what you're doing, avoid this instructor.
Terrible teacher. Not only is she hard to understand, she expects WAY too much on her tests and teaches this class as if it were an advanced stats class at a Ivy school. DO NOT TAKE WINNIE, you will regret every second of it.
By far the best organized teacher at BC. No need to take notes (she makes them available online); the same goes for her video lectures (exact copies of her classroom lectures). No excuse for failing this class if you attend, pay attention and do your homework. She's also an easy grader + cheat-sheets are allowed! Accent is no issue after 1st class.
Ms. Li is a very good professor. However, the class is very fast paced. Her video materials and power points are great. The class is not very hard if you attend lectures, do homeworks and prepare for the tests. Sometimes her grading is weird. She can take off points almost for nothing.
Did not participate or help students, a lot a guess work to figure out what she was asking for.
She never answers the questions!! She totally unfair grader!! Her accent is so bad to understand!! not loyal to the students at all
I took an intro to MIS class online with Li. The focus in the class was self sufficiency and resourcefulness. She was plenty nice but expected students to find their own answers (which I didn't have a problem with). However, if you expect a classic professor choose someone else. HW/tests were easy but very little feedback was given.
Online class. Not much interaction. Not too hard.
She is trying to be tuff "University-level!!" teacher. Only on this class is possible to get 82% on test having all answres and calculations correct! She is cutting off points for NOTHING! so unfair! She never helps to students! Accent is way too strong to listen for two hours! Don't take ba240 with her if u care about ur grade! BAD BAD teacher!
WORST.PROFESSOR.EVER! Winnie is really rude and not helpful. She does her hardest to make the quarter miserable for her students and marks you down for everything including things you got right. There is also a useless group project.
Worst teacher ever!!!!!
This online class was unreasonably fast paced as all BA240. Got A, but it was he hardest class I had. Take with Emilia Gan, if you can (most of the quarter she was recovering Winnie who was on medical leave). Don't take it if you're busy. Winnie has great video lectures and video for projects. IMO, the book is more advanced than needed for class.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. Avoid taking her class at all costs. Unless you are a stats wizard or have a tutor you will fail. She is not the least bit helpful, lost my quizzes and wouldn't do anything about it. I set up and appointment to meet with her about my grade and she was just rude. Does not care at all about her students.
Winnie is very helpful if you have a question. She lectures off a ppt and posts them all online. We had one assignment a week which were fairly easy . We only had a midterm and fianl. She is reasonable with grading.
Not overly impressed with her ability to lead a class. Her lectures consist of grinding out boring powerpoints and she was relatively absent online (hybrid class). She grades SLOW and inconsistently. The book on the other hand is AMAZING. Read the chapters, do the work, and you will have a pretty decent understanding of the subject!
lectures off powerpoints. can move fast. 3 test and a quiz every week once you get going. she can be hard talk to since shes very busy. just do your work and pay attention and youll pass! online video will help if things are unclear in class.
Class moves fast and you have to stay on top of things. The good thing about this class is the vast amount of resources available to you. Online lectures, powerpoints, good TB, etc. She moves fast, and you have to as well.
Took class online. Professor sometimes slow to respond to questions (on the order of days to receive a response). Assignments are difficult. Inconsistent grading, sometimes does not give you all information. Overall, very frustrating--do not recommend taking this class with her!
I took this class over the summer online. Wow it was nonstop. I am normally an A student and I did get an A, but was hard to earn. It is a lot of information to cover; some weeks covering 3+ full chapters. Videos & PPT were the only things that made it understandable in such a short period. Teacher is very busy but Vanessa, the TA, is great.
While Winnie is a great teacher, the subject is hard and her accent takes a bit to get used to. However, if you make use of the extra materials she provides (seriously, use video lectures), you'll be fine. She seems to care about her students, having a potluck at the end of the quarter and taking a class photo. Would Recommend.
Winnie is hard to understand at first but after a week you get used to her accent. This class required a lot of effort. I HIGHLY recommend watching every video lecture and reading the book. This was probably one of the most difficult classes that i have taken at BC. Make sure you study a lot before the exams.
If possible avoid this teacher. She makes a difficult course more difficult. Her accent is hard to understand and she likes to pull dirty little tricks on exams. If you must take her watch her video because that is what she repeats in class. But you have to be ready to work on your own a lot. Don't get me wrong I am a good student and pulled off A
This subject is tough no doubt and the summer quarter makes it even more harder. But the professor plays an important role in making the subject miserable for you. She is horrible, never replies to any question or will confuse you even more. Never solves any text book questions and never interested in even replying if you have a doubt. Horrible!
Let me start by saying that this professor's english is subpar at best. Taking this class over the summer is already difficult, but Winnie makes the material more confusing that it is. I feel as though I am taking an online class. I would recommend reading the book and using khanacademy because these resources were the only thing that helped!
Terrible... just terrible.
Very clear when explaining some typical questions. I got A in the class even though the final was a disaster .... overall she is a good teacher for BA240 !!!!!
W. Li is the worst teacher I have experienced at BC. Her English is abrasive and incomprehensible, and she expects you to learn from lecture or video lectures that she posts online. Questions are answered as shortly as possible, and often answered in a condescending tone. I'm dropping the class and pending my degree for a quarter just to avoid her.
Good teacher, but not online. She really didn't like to help me when i came in. If you already know java, the class will be a breeze. I came in with a basic knowledge and had to drop after the midterm.
If it wasn't for other videos online (youtube, mit, ect...) I would have never passed the class. She is by far the worst instructor I have ever had. Take at your own risk.
I don't get what is she speaking about, because she has super strong Chinese accent. I would not recommend her class at all.
This instructor was awful... Couldn't understand her and the one time I went to her office to ask about something on my exam she was rude and uninterested. Also, her email replies were rude and not very helpful. I learned far more from looking things up online than from her lectures.Exams were very hard! Take any other instructor, she was terrible.
Horrible. Do not screw yourself up by taking this instructor. WARNING!!!****
Was the worst experience I have had at BC. I am an A student and she makes it literally impossible to get A. I spent over 120 hours on this class and will probably still get a B. She cares more about compliance to her rules than he does about actually educating BC students. I do NOT RECCOMEND her in any class format.
First major issue is that the textbook has a lot of errors so you can't trust it. Secondly, her tutorials for Excel are in Excel 2003 or 2007. All lectures are super outdated and the quality is awful. You pretty much have to teach yourself everything and hope you manage to study the right things for the test.
As far as I know, our class get along pretty well. Accent is not a big problem because you can always ask for further clarification. To receive good grade in this class, my advice is that you should watch the corresponding video lecture before class. Overall materials would not get too difficult when you revise more than once.
She is so kind she truly cares for the people in her class i love that she is willing to take time to just talk to you as a person and not only aa student. Amazing teacher
Winnie is very nice. She is very clear but statistics itself is not easy. Her teaching speed is very fast because she have lots of content to cover. I think she is the most clear teacher I have ever had in BC. As long as you finish homework, be concentrated in class and watch the videos, you can succeed in this class.
This was the first time this class was offered and it showed. The book is ridiculously confusing, the assignments vague, and Winnie is no help at all. Her "lecture notes" are literally bullet points of what's already written in the book, and that's the only interaction she has with the class. Seriously, unless it's required, don't take this class.
Don't take this teacher. she is so bad. I have been studying for two years at BC i have never go a lower grade except for this class. she is so bad!!!!!!!!!
Her accent makes her lectures fairly difficult to understand. The tests are also very tricky. She means well and is very knowledgeable about the subject but because I took the class online, I wasn't really able to know anything about her beyond her video lectures.
Nice teacher, very fast at replying the emails, and very helpful. Has one big group project, which saves your grade, be sure to communicate with your group members or you"WILL NOT" get the full points. Gives extra Credits, and curves midterms, just make sure to read her lectures and glance through the book. Being interested is the key.
Winnie has put a ton of effort in developing a curriculum that transfers into the UW 300 level statistics class, so she's saved all of us a ton of money. Her class is clear, just print out the lecture slides every session and you can keep up with her pace. It's one of the hardest A's I've worked for but I feel like I left mastering the subject.
Online quizzes have glitches but she sticks to time limit and will not discuss. Ignores emails with questions, gives no indication of why points were taken on homework. She does no teaching. You have the textbook, power points provided by the publisher and canned quizzes from the publisher. Unless you need credit, take a free online class.
I found that though I usually have an ok time with accents this teacher is hard to understand. The pace of the class give no value to class time. I would not call this teaching. The basic assumption is that you must either know the subject your self or rely on the books. Ignores e-mails and is too busy to meet before on break or after class.
Expect to learn everything on your own. There will be NO teaching from her, only grading. This is a class where if you get stuck and cant figure out a subject yourself you are totally screwed unless you know someone who does know the subject matter.
Get ready for a ridiculous workload and expectation to be put on you when taking her class. If you dont know java, I would expect 30+ hours a week of workload if not more
Midterm and Final are VERY extensive. Basically a 2hr test crammed into 1:40. I am not new to programming and had a matter of seconds remaining after the last question. It was a struggle to finish in time.
Finished the final just a few days ago. Thought I did ok, but I thought that about the midterm and received a score in the low 70's for it. You will lose half credit or more for making a minor mistake on these tests.
Hard to understand, very tough, doesn't teach well and you have to learn everything yourself.
Seriously DO NOT TAKE if you want to to keep your GPA. She is the worst teacher I have ever had for a class and I received the worst grade I ever have received from her.
Don't take her class if you want to keep your GPA. She is the hardest teacher I've ever taken and this class kills my GPA. I regret taking this class
I think she is the only teacher in the Data analytics program, she teaches all the core classes, we dont have another option other than taking her class, she is horrible, lots of homework, a lab, assignment and discussion every week with 3 exams, very very hard and it takes so much time, you have to be prepared for a lot of studying .
horrible i think she is the only teacher for data analytics program, we have no other option other than taking her classes, even tho she is not that good, be prepared to self study for very hard class, with a lot of stuff to so every week, lab assignment discussion plus the exams, its a lot of work, dont take it with another hard classes
All of her materials are dated back at least 10 years ago. Very hard grader. Most of the things she put on the exam is NOTHING like she has on the practice exams or the homeworks she assigns. Even if you try to learn the material yourself, it is nothing like the problems she gives you on the exams. She does not reply back until MIDNIGHT.
It's a very well laid out class that is easy to understand and keep up with as long as you don't get behind. Read one chapter a week then take a 12 to 15 problem quiz with plenty of time. There are 2 assignments a week which can be difficult and a discussion question. overall its a 100% self taught class, would recommend.
if you want to miss up your GPA take her class!
one of the worst teachers ever, be prepared for a lot of self study and getting really bad grades.
Her online Business Statistics class is the hardest class I have ever taken. The way she weights the grade book makes it very difficult to recover from a less than amazing test performance and the amount of work she expected us to do per week was ridiculous. Her speaking can also be difficult to understand at times.
The hardest class I have taken! She is serious every score. A 10 grade homework, she gave me 6, because I didn't upload the graphs that I draw on paper when submit the homework online. We need to learn by ourselves due to it's an online class. And for the exam, too many questions and it's very hard to finish in 100 minutes. Will not take her class.
I learned a lot in this class but had to work for it. I would suggest doing ALL of the problems at the end of every chapter because she takes many of the test question from those that haven't been assigned. Get comfortable with coding without an IDE because they aren't allowed for tests.
Her exams are kinda hard but she's not a tough grader. They are not similar to the practice tests that she gives. You need to watch other online videos to understand the topic. Her lecture videos are not helpful. She gives a lot extra credit though which saves your grade. I got an A but the toughest class I've taken.
Don't take this class it was very difficult to get a good grade, it's basically self teach as the notes do not help much and you will not receive much help from the professor. I have never taken a harder class in my life. Do not take this class unless you want to ruin your GPA.
The instructor put together the most convoluted and incoherent class ever. Nothing we talked about related to the course outcomes.
I do not recommend taking her class at all. It was extremely hard, especially online. I have to take this class all over again but refuse to do so with her. Her class was online but she required us to go onto campus to test. This defeats the whole purpose of taking an online class. Lectures were not helpful.
This teacher is the absolute worse, I've taken online classes before but never will again because of her. Her class has a lot of busy work, the tests are crazy hard (even though you get 4 pages of cheat sheets), and she never has time to meet up if you have questions. If you're contemplating taking her class, seriously don't.
This was a pretty well established and set up online class. Great online lectures and plenty of guidance are offered to master the subject. Requires lots of work but if you don't lag behind and do the reading/practice exercises no problem passing. I learned a lot in this class.
CS 210 is not an easy class. Exams are the hardest part and are the main reason why people walk away with C's. All of the exam questions are either taken directly from the textbook or rewritten slightly. Make sure to look at all of them and make sure you can do them. Actually working through the self-check problems and quizzes will help.
I suggest if you can avoid taking her class, just do it. She has a good mathematical foundation but it doesn't make her a great teacher, she would not open enough to discuss or let you learn and grow. You know how is the young kids have to listen their strict parents completely, whatever they are right or wrong. You will be treated like that.
Hardest prof for CS 210 at Bellevue College. Do not take this class with her if you only want to get a good grade. If you want to study CSE at UW, I would recommend her. You will have a very hard time adjusting to UW if you cannot handle the workload of this course. Course is similar to CSE 142 at UW Seattle but slightly easier.
looooooooots of homeworks, much more than what's really needed for this class, I sometimes had a hard time to understand her English but she is fine, don't take this class with other classes if you're a full-time employee.
The worst professor ever. Tons and tons of assignment almost everyday. Instructions are never clear with no rubrics but she takes off points very easily. Since the course was online, we had several 1 hour online group conferences, and literally none of the conferences was helpful or worth the time at all. Take her if you want to verify my review.
I wouldnt recommend taking this as an online class. The material is challenging, and theres very little guidance.
You MUST watch lectures! The Ppt slides have errors, corrected in lectures. Lectures go way too fast! a 30 minute lecture takes me at min a hour and a half to get through because all the times I have to stop and go back. The length/time consumption of Labs and Assignments is lopsided to how much they are worth. Fair Grader, Good material variety.
Winnie Li is the worst and hardest professor at Bellevue College. She has no respect for her students. She seems to go out of her way to make her classes difficult and to frustrate students. Her classes did not prepare me for any sort of career in Data Analytics. What a waste of 3 years and a lot of money.
Avoid her at all cost. She yells at students if they ask questions. In a group meeting online, she mistreated a special needs student with a speech problem, wouldn't let him finish trying to express his question, yelled over him and told him he and the group were "inferior". She is unkind, unprofessional, and difficult to understand.
Not gonna say much, do not take her class if you don't have to.
Not gonna say much, just avoid taking her course.
This has to be one of the Best professors ever. She is very kind, and very professional. There was a special need in the class and she was so nice and her speech might be one of the best. But, if you just want this class for an easy grade, this is not for you. This class is a hardworking and put as much work as you need. Highly recommend!
Professor Li is one of the best professor you can have. She is very friendly and always come up with a way to challenge us. Highly reccomend for anyone who loves coding and challenges!
Professor Li runs a challenging but rewarding CS210 course. The workload is significant, but engaging with the material and using helpful resources like unstuckstudy ai for study prep makes it manageable. Definitely not an easy A, but worth the effort for those seeking a deep dive into the subject.
The course is intended for those with no computer experience, yet having the experience in computer programs, I still had to withdraw. The instructor taught way beyond the level of CS210. HW took hours to do and multiple programs every week. Take EVERY review seriously and avoid unless you are ready to take a lower grade than you are used to.
Basically an online class where she had all pre-recorded lectures and was very bad at responding to emails. She would ditch 1 on 1 meetings and be vague in emails. For grading, she would take points off for "not having the correct file name" or not liking your "style of coding".
Amazing Teacher! Possibly the best teacher at Bellevue College!
To anyone new to coding taking Professor Li's class: Please don't be afraid! I had little experience, failed the midterm, but studied hard and improved. She prioritizes improvement which is very motivating. Do all the labs and codestep problems (trust me), ask questions, ace the assignments (will help with grade). Lock in, and you WILL do great!
