Great Lab instructor. Clarifies book content that you are responsible for very well. Always willing to answer questions.
A very nice person, willing to answer questions. Lectures move at an unpredictable pace, sometimes dauntingly fast, sometimes unbearably slow. Test are extremely challenging, need to do a lot of work outside of class. Is a first year teacher(04-05), and still has some kinks to work-out.
Did not like this woman at all. She jumped around a lot in lecture. Tests were pretty hard and the format wasn't always the same. Lab is not worth your time, but you have quizzes every week. Can be really rude and unhelpful..she once stood over me while I was taking a quiz and laughed at my answers..honestly, who does that?!
She's a super nice lady, and pretty funny too. Class was mostly boring (until we talked about reproduction, then she got really into it, and hilarious). Her lectures are sometimes mind numbingly slow, and other times it feels like a race to the finish. Test format changed unexpectedly. Good in lab though!
She's extremely rude, she laughed at me when I told her I didnt understand. Her exams are ridiculously hard, have fun trying to just pass the class. Don't even take her, its not worth it
Really good at explaining, tests are not too hard
she is an excellent teacher who really knows what she is talking about.. although she can be quite overwhelming.. she is always willing to help students out.. her class is very hard
Hard Class, but will help out if needed. She also makes it very clear what to know for exams, no suprises. There is just a lot of material covered.
Not too bad, she is just sort of unpredictable. The lectures are usually too fast or too slow, and you have to sit through a lot of pointless questions. Not a bad class, overall.
Ok, first off...don't be scared of her. Sometimes she comes on a little strong, but she's ok. ITS A HARD CLASS NO MATTER WHAT! Anatomy is hard, plain and simple. Work hard and you will do ok! She gives tons of extra credit, so raise your hand in class and get the extra credit. Lab is really a hard one though...overwhelming
very clear lecture, provides notes that make sense and used diagrams to make things easier to understand. is very clear about what is needed to be done and answers questions satisfactorily. would recommend this class and prof to a person not majoring in science. good GE class, and not overall too difficult but requires good amount of effort.
Professor moves very fast and condenses way too much material on each exam for a 100 level GE. She knows what she's talking about and knows the material well, and is also pretty funny. If you have no experience in human sexual biology, you will not be able to keep up with her speed of teaching and terminology.
This woman is brilliant and explains concepts and questions well. However, if you are not a science person, this class is extremely difficult. You must put MANY hours into studying for the exams to do okay so be prepared for that. Lectures move fast and I would say that it's a very difficult 100 level GE class. Winnifred herself though, IS great.
Literally the worst teacher I've ever had (I'm almost a Junior now). Over half the class fails the exams every time. She doesn't curve the tests AT ALL. She expects students to memorize about 500 terms per test. This class is useless. If you take the other Bio 130 teacher it is a LOT easier, which also makes Bryant an extremely unfair teacher.
class is very hard! You must attend all classes, tests are very tricky and no note cards. Expect alot of notes and memorization. She allows no curve and over half the class failed the first two tests. AGAIN this is not an easy course with Bryant!
Bryant is fantastic. Her lectures are extremely clear and now and then she slips in a hilarious comment about sex. She's intimidating but she's super helpful. One of the best classes and professors I've taken!
Dr. Bryant is tough, but fair. Her exams are extremely difficult and require a lot of studying, but if you put in the hours you'll do ok. Her lectures are generally very clear and concise. Even though she has a fairly serious demeanor, she is not beyond cracking a joke every now and then. Overall, this is not a class to take if you want to slack.
The class and tests are difficult, but I think she does a great job at teaching the material. You definitely need to put in a lot of hours studying and see her for extra help if things aren't clear.
Human Sexual Biology with Dr Bryant is not reccomended. The grade for her class is based on 4 tests, and NOTHING else!! If you are taking this class as a general, beware - she's not going to make it easy on you! Also - her tests are the kind that try to test your "test taking skills", and not your actual knowledge of the subject.
Dr. Bryant is tough and moves quickly but she is fair. An interesting class - great for someone who doesn't enjoy science. Gives 20pts EC just for attending every class, and you can miss up to 10 w/o it affecting your grade. She types up all the outlines for you, just make sure to keep good notes and attend class.
Graded only on 4 tests. 20 points extra credit for perfect attendance, extra credit on every test. She is clear in class and puts notes on d2l. tests are impossible. she doesn't even write them! I attended all classes, studied for every test and only passed because of extra credit!!
Dr. Bryant is an intelligent lady and I liked her, but the class was pretty hard. She's kind of serious but funny at the same time. Go to all class periods, the 20 points extra credit saved my grade. Use the book, no reading is assigned, but studying out of it HELPS. Class is probably a little too hard for a GE course but her ex.cr. makes up for it
Dr.Bryant is a little intimidating, and I was kind of scared to ask her for help, but if you do, she can be helpful. The class itself is really difficult as there is so much material covered on each test. A lot of studying is required, and even then, they are brutal. The class averages were 60-70. Take a different class if you can.
If you want to be an ob-gyn, take this class! You can study for days and still not know things on the test. Bryant is an extremely intelligent woman and is not above cracking a few jokes... but she expects you to know hundreds of terms per exam. No homework. Ever.
Dr. Bryant was an amazing professor. She's tough, but I loved her. She hates using the textbook. Also, I wouldn't recommend this class for anyone who is not strong in science. Don't be fooled by the 100 level. Go to class, take notes, ask questions, and STUDY. Then, you'll do fine. I failed, but I still liked her as a professor.
She's a great prof. Just wish all the classes weren;t at 8 am, and that there was more coursework. 4 tests and two papers, all super tough.
Bryant is an extremely intelligent woman... too intelligent for a 100 level Bio class. This class is geared for those who want to enter the medical field-expect to do tons of studying for each test, but only receive a mediocre grade.
Professor Bryant was my most favorite teacher! She was a very good lecturer and made herself more than available to students who needed help. There is no homework except 4 tests and 2 papers, so you really have to STUDY for this class, and you should do fine.
Overall, if biology isn?t your forte, I wouldn?t advise taking this class. Your grade is based off of 4 excruciating tests that she tries to condense way too much info into. Professor Bryant is a brilliant woman and is helpful if you ask, but she's a very tough teacher. Be prepared to work your ass off to get a halfway decent grade in this class.
Don't take this class unless you are strong in Bio. Grade is based on 4 tests that are very difficult. Don't take unless you are willing to spend countless hours preparing for tests.
Tests are SUPER hard. I got D's and F's on all 4 and even got a tutor. She does give you 25 points if you show up to every class and even some extra credit opportunities at the end. I ended up with a C+ in the class just from the help of extra credit. Learned a lot of great info. but it's a pretty hard class. She's always there for help if you ask.
GO TO CLASS. Her extra credit attendance can bump you up a grade. Print out the lecture notes and pay attention. She expects a lot from her students. She can be humorous, but overall she is quite serious. I'm glad I'm done with her class.
Awful! She purposefully tried to fail us. She was rude and would not listen to her students. She would get angry and tear down students instead of helping them understand. I was extremely disappointed with her. No one that had her this semester liked her.
The class is super hard and takes a lot of studying to do well on the tests. Gives extra credit if you go to all the classes which is completely worth it, brought my grade up to a B and I failed 2 of the 4 exams. You learn a lot though and it is useful knowledge. Wouldn't recommend it, but if its your only option go for it.
VERY easy for the lab portion of gen bio (BIOL 223) You only have to write like 3 lab reports, which take a fair amount of time, but if you go to her office hours, she will pretty much proof your report and tell you what needs improving. Two 10-point quizzes all semester that were extremely easy. Intimidating at first, but she will help if you ask.
There are only four tests and the material is extremely specific for a 100 level class. If you plan on taking this class, don't expect to get an A. she's a nice lady but seems to have a thing about wanting everyone to know that just cause it's a 100 level class, it's "not an easy A"
My first impression of Professor Bryant was that she was very intimidating, and that didn't really change. However, she was an incredibly intelligent professor and definitely knew her stuff. Tests were very hard so you will have to study a lot to get a good grade. Also some of the material covered in class made me uncomfortable and grossed me out.
Difficult class but as long as you study for a few hours before each exam, it is possible to do well. Dr. Bryant is very intimidating but extremely knowledgable. The class was at 8am but I enjoyed going to it because of Dr. Bryant's lectures. Tests are difficult, but extra credit is offered at the end and some exams are curved.
This is a very interesting class, I really enjoy going to it! She's very intelligent and funny. Others say she's intimidating but I feel like she's super helpful. But she makes you work hard, like real hard, because her tests are pretty tough, so make sure to take good note and study. I didn't do so well in terms of grade, but I would take it again
Professor Bryant tends to come off as condescending. Took this class thinking that it would be somewhat easy, definitely not. Even though every test was online it was very confusing and she gave you 60 min for 60 questions. Definitely take if you enjoy biology, but I don't recommend it for someone looking for an easy A. Or B.
The class was very interesting and I really enjoyed it, but it is VERY HARD!! I worked my butt off the entire semester and still did not get the grade I wanted. Even though the exams are online, they are extremely hard and worded in a way that you can't really look them up.
Dr. Bryant does a really good job of making you feel stupid. When the whole class does horrible on an exam she blames it on us. Asking questions sucks too because she makes you feel bad for even asking and she is not helpful. This class was the most work I've ever done for a class. Not worth it. Expects way too much.
This class was extremely difficult. The topic was very interesting but the tests didn't seem to be about anything we learned in class. All the tests were online and they were application type of questions. It was hard to do well on the exams if you didn't understand the topic without looking at your notes. Fun class but really hard.
EXTREMELY HARD CLASS. Here class was based 90% on test and 10% attendance. On our first test the class average was a 65% and the highest grade was 80%. That should be your first red flag. Since we had a lecture of about 200 kids she had very limited office hours. Contrary to that, she was kinda funny and a side from being hard, I learned a lot.
She did the animal portion of this class. There was a lot of information to cover but she explained everything in lecture pretty well. However, when I did go in to talk to her during her office hours she was not helpful at all and wouldn't directly answer my questions. You need to put a lot of work in to do well in her class.
Worst Professor I have ever had. Does not care about the students and could care less if they pass or fail. Very intimidating and seems to intentionally make you feel stupid.
Dr. Bryant is the worst professor I have ever had. She does not care about her students and degrades you when you ask questions. She makes you feel like a complete idiot and condescending if you do not know something. Her exams are online but study, use your notes, and google you still won't pass. Do not take her course.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. I am convinced she wants her students to fail. All exams are online however there is no possible way to pass them. She shows no sympathy towards her students and could careless about you. If you ask a question in class, she will most likely destroy you. I would not recommend this professor to anyone.
I am not a huge science person so my answer may be a little biased. I didn't love this class. The tests were HARD. I'm not sure how many others feel this way about her tests, but be prepared to study your butt off. Her papers help lift your grade a bit. She gives you some extra credit and syllabus is really well put together, though. Not my fave.
This class is hard. Elementary Education majors are required to take a Biology so I figured that Human Sexual would be easier than General. All tests are online, therefore very difficult application questions. Studying and tutors cannot seem to help get higher than a C on most tests. Prepare to work hard and not have it pay off towards your grade.
Dr. Bryant knows what she is talking about and is very detailed in lecture. You must know information on in lecture well so you can answer application questions. She is a great professor but you have to earn the grade and make sure you study. I would definitely take another class with her! She also has super cool shoes!
Dr. Bryant lectures are pretty good. That's about all that is good though. Exams should be curved, but aren't and sometimes I have no clue where she is getting these questions on the exam from. 4 exams make up 90% of your grade. Non cumulative final is a bonus. Only take if you have to. Tests are online and open book and lots of people still failed
She has a great personality, but her exams are very difficult. I really do recommend her - you will learn a lot.
Great professor. Only had her for lecture but her lectures are awesome. Very interesting and is so willing to answer any and all questions in detail. Tough tests and you need to study and attend lecture.
Great professor, with a hilarious personality. Lectures are very clear and she tells you what information you need to know. Exams are difficult, but you learn a lot. She is very organized and conveys material in a clear manner.
Although she is very knowledgable, it seems as though she assumes her class is too. The content is really specific for a 100 level lecture. Your grade is based on a few seemingly impossible and uncurved exams. Even though she assigns other large projects, they don't actually count for much of your grade. Lectures are directly from the textbook.
She is an extremely knowledgeable women, with a great sense of humor. Your grade is 80% exams (3) + 10% easy online book quizzes/activities + 10% is 2 assignments (that have very clear direct grading rubric, you do ityou get full credit). Her exams are tough & you have to really get the material to pass. She no longer does online exams either.
She is a knowledgeable and cultured professor. While there is a lot of material and the tests are relatively difficult, the class is definitely doable if you simply do all of the work and study your notes. Your grade is mostly based on three hardcore multiple choice exams.
Professor Bryant knows what she's talking about. She's also pretty funny! But BIO130 was easily the hardest class I've ever taken. I don't know anyone who's passed this class with higher than a C. For being a 100 level class for non-Bio majors, this class was unnecessarily difficult. I would recommend avoiding this class at all costs.
She isnt a bad person but this is the hardest course Ive ever taken and I feel like she expects students to do 90% of the learning on their own.
She gets more hate on here than she deserves in my opinion. The class is hard but as long as you show up and take good notes it is not impossible. She also gives random extra credit if you show up (i.e. she gave us 8 EC on the final for coming to class the day before thanksgiving break)
I consider Dr. Bryant to be a mediocre professor that won't go out of their way to help students, but is a nice professor. It may be the topics that she teaches that bored many students, but she also is extraordinarily competent in the field of sexual biology. Her textbook that she made and required for the course is horrendous and laced in errors.
I found the class very interesting and I felt the lecture material was presented well and I learned a lot. As everyone says, the tests are very difficult and despite studying for 12+ hours for two of the tests, I did not receive a grade higher then a B+. That being said, the grade isn't everything and I'm glad I took the class.
Dr. Bryant is very intelligent and hilarious, but such a tough grader. Her assignment guidelines walk you through exactly what you need to cover, but that doesnt seem to affect your grade. Her grades are very opinionated. Youll end up getting half credit even if you go to her office hours (if shes ever there) to have her proof the assignment.
When you show up to exams, you are blindsided by many of the questions. Other PROFESSORS have looked at her exams and expressed absolute shock at how difficult and out there the questions are. Pray that you never have to take one of her exams. An people are scared to go to her office and talk to her because she makes them feel stupid.
super funny, hard to follow in lectures sometimes, but always willing to give feedback on tests, homework, etc. not afraid to come for her students in class but she means well
This class is very hard if you're not good at science. I just took this class to complete my biology credit and I thought it would be easy. Ended up being the hardest class I have taken so far. The tests are impossible, and the professor's lectures do not help. I found myself learning the material by myself most of the time.
Horrible. Wish I wouldnt have taken this class. Lecture heavy, exams are the hardest Ive ever experienced. Dont take unless youre actually GOOD at bio. Makes you feel stupid, doesnt care about you doing good in her class. You miss class, you miss important lecture. Not easy stuff to learn on your own. Dont take if you dont have to.
Dr. Bryant is extremely clear with what she wants from her class and as long as you are willing to put in work her class isn't too difficult. The tests are hard because she doesn't post review materials. She does post chapter recaps which re helpful but for the most part you have to figure out what's going to be on the test which is difficult.
Seriously horrible. 70% of your grade are exams, and they are the hardest Ive ever experienced. Doesnt give good feedback, makes you feel stupid, doesnt give any guidance to what will be on exam. Do bad on exams? You wont pass. Dont take this course with her. Just do yourself a favor, DONT DO IT.
Dr. Bryant is very knowledgeable in sexual biology, and is very organized. She has a very sarcastic sense of humor that I appreciated, but I can see why some wouldn't. She's not very approachable, and made me feel stupid upon asking questions. Do NOT try to memorize material-understand it. Exam Q's are comprehensive. Review powerpoints & textbook.
She tends to stick to her way no matter what in regards to the course. For example, not emailing papers to the class when nobody could print them until 2 weeks later. She also doesn't let you see the correct answers on anything you do, thus not allowing you to learn from your mistakes. All in all, her 100 level course was harder than my 400's.
PLEASE DON'T TAKE HER. 75% tests is your grade and half of the questions aren't on her textbook or videos. She is not accommodating and helpful at all in solving any of those issues. Promise you'd rather be in a in-person class with a better professor, its not worth the online feature.
Not helpful at all if you ask questions. She is very aggressive and tends to be very defensive in emails to the class. The exams at least half isn't in her slides or textbook that she wrote that cost $100. Exams worth 75%
Bryant is so full of personality! She makes lectures fun with her humor. She is a really tough grader and will chastise you if you do not read the book. Her classes are fun but the exams make you feel pretty stupid. Take her class if you can handle a challenge. Her attitude and charisma make the class fun even when its boring content.
To be an effective teacher, you must show enthusiasm; you must have the ability to convey passion for the topics you teach and the subjects you instruct to future medical professionals. Passion from a teacher rubs off onto students, and students will carry the torch of that drive to learn the rest of their entire lives. Bryant lacked all of that.
I do not recommend taking this class with this professor online. I can see she tries to help her students but can be very bad about communicating and doesn't respond to all her emails. The exams are hard and not reflect the content. This class caused me a lot of stress.
Too many emails for one, papers are few but lengthy. Not enough explanation. Not at all the class I was expecting either, more about just cells and not actually the human sexual biology part of it until the end. Pick another professor.
Students, if you are looking to take Bio 130.. read these reviews before you enroll in it. I should've taken these reviews more seriously, and trusted my gut, but I did not. You will find yourself lost, confused, and irritated during the duration of this course. This course is online, take an in-person course. You'll thank us all later.
Legit don't take her class. I am not even fully halfway through the class and I have no idea what's going on. Her exams are impossible and you have not enough time. I had 60 min to complete a 65 question exam. Most of the questions needed way more time than just a minute. This class is going to kill my GPA.
Easily the WORST teacher I have EVER had! Im an academic person but after filling out every study guide and failing tests there is no hope of anything but failure in this course! If you dont read the textbook (which costs an arm and a leg cuz but its mandatory cuz she wrote it) you will fail! But then again youll probably fail regardless
Professor Bryant is easily the absolute worst Prof I've ever had. Her study guides are filled with questions like, "Can two strangers have good sex?" (This is a biology class). The test questions take about a minute to read, but you only have 50 seconds to spend on each. DO NOT EMAIL HER. She is disrespectful and will take her anger out on you:(
You buy her $100 textbook but the tests that are 72% of the grade have hardly anything from the textbook in it. You can study for hours and still finish with a C on the exam, if you have enough time to read the exam that is.
Dr. B is extremely rude in her correspondence with students. Makes it seem as if were stupid. Tests are worth majority of your grade, and youre given about 1 minute per question on the exams. Lots of other content she expects you to know besides just the textbook, which is required.
Her class was way too hard and for no reason. The class was entirely online, and questions on the exam were way harder and weren't in the textbook. She even blatantly said it's "deeper thinking". Get ready to cry during this course (many times). Quizzes are hard and frustrating. LOTS of work/papers/assignments. Exams are truly so hard.
She is easily one of the WORST professors I've ever had. if you email her with a question, she will reply in a very rude/condescending manner to make you feel stupid. Textbook is $100 but hardly even helpful on exams (she wrote it).
Dr. Bryant expects a lot and her exams are super difficult, but she is a great lecturer. It's a lot of work but she answers questions really well and is really great about telling you exactly what you'll need to study to do well on exams
She taught the animal section of the course and was a really good lecturer. Reading the textbook helps. She is funny and laid back for the most part. Not a lot of assignments.
Unless you enjoy lack of communication and preparation prior to class, I would steer away from Dr. Bryant. She grades crazy tough, and her lectures are given as though she is just looking at the lecture slides for the first time when she's speaking! Any questions sent through email are responded to with a condescending tone.
She's super funny and really laid back. The labs were really easy. There weren't really any assignments outside of class, she allowed enough time during class to get them done. It was super easy. Highly recommend this class and this professor.
There are a lot of really bad reviews for Prof Bryant, but I don't think she is a bad professor. Her tests are hard, but if you know the material you should be okay. She's a funny professor and I enjoy her lectures. Beware that tests are a huge portion of your grade. Anyway, I like her as a person and she is a fine lecturer.
I took Dr. Bryant for Endocrinology. I am studying for the MCAT and was able to test out of the endocrinology section because I truly had learned so much from her. Also, learning how to think critically was useful for the MCAT too. If you are a pre-med student, I highly recommend this class. You are going to have to work hard, but it will pay off.
As a person, I liked her. But her class was too hard. It's a 100 level class for non-majors, so I didn't expect it to be so difficult. I took bio 221, which is known to be hard, and I think it was just as hard as this class. Her exam questions are the kind that have you second guessing yourself. You definitely need to know your stuff.
She is a little passive-aggressive sometimes, but taking this class online she structured the class well and is great at communication online. Some of her exams and quizzes have questions that seem to be her opinion. The class itself is easy, exams are difficult because she expects you to find all the answers in her book when they arent there.
Professor Bryant's class was really hard. She is very knowledgeable about what she teaches but she expects you to understand things at the same level she does. She is intense and lectures a lot of content in one class. Her exams are insanely difficult (and curved) but if you study and come to class you should be okay.
Dr. B tested in a way that meant we had to really understand the pathways. You couldn't just memorize flash cards, you really had to immerse yourself into the subject. We wrote lots of mini essays requiring critical thinking. Unless you're specifically interested in endo or require it for your degree, I wouldn't recommend the course. I loved it.
