Professor Smith is one of the nicest people at the university, unfortunately it seems that teaching is not his calling. The material is dated and often hard to understand, lectures are often not representative of what will be on the test and he often when asked a question will say that Ill have to get back to you on that and then never follow up

Winston Smith is the WORST professor I have come across. He talks extremely fast, doesn't post lectures, and takes a year to reply to emails. I have learned more from the tutoring center and learning on my own than I have from him. The REQUIRED READINGS are ridiculously long and must be read in order to pass exams. He has no personality and sucks.

I don't think Professor Smith is a bad teacher. This class is so hard because of the way it is set up. Your grade is 3 exams & a project worth 5%. Very little practice in class & the scenarios on the exam were much more difficult than what we practiced. I put more time in this class than I ever have before & my grade will not reflect that :/

The class is very hard and if you dont understand some material you WILL struggle later on. Smith is a very rigid, impersonal professor. He is very by the book and doesnt give you grace. For exams study EVERYTHING, not just the review. He will structure the exam differently. Homework takes hours to do. He gives extremely short time frames for exams

I never read rate my professors until I had Professor Smith. Directions in this class are often unclear. I got an F on a project worth 7% of my grade because he gave us files that needed to be saved in a new place on our computer (without stating that anywhere in the assignment)This happened to multiple people. Hard to reach thru emails. Stay safe!

Professor Smith is a good guy that explains concepts well. Personally, I had a little bit of Excel experience before joining his class, so the content wasn't too difficult. He's very straightforward with expectations but did give a few extensions to everyone for some assignments if there was a systemwide error.

The class itself is not too difficult, but if you want to be able to look at your grades ahead of time, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. He takes over a month to grade things, by the time you're ready for the next exam or project, you still won't have a grade. Still waiting on grades from work that was turned in in October. CRAZY AMOUNT OF HW. I do not know how this guy has a job to teach hundreds on hundreds of people for INMT 242. As a B, B+ student, This class is easily the hardest class I have ever taken in my life it sucks that it is mandatory and taught by him. Exams are crazy hard. Packback (10 min), asynch (1.5 hr), labs (in person - 50 min once a week), Pearson (~2 hr). Its no different than other classes giving you outside homework. It still follows the general rule of "for every one hour of lecture, 2-3 hours of homework." sorry folks.

He's a nice professor but he reuses his lectures from a year ago and the TAs do most of the work for him, especially on Friday's lab. You'll be fine as long as you finish the asynchronous work every week and study for the exams a day or two before. As a professor, his lectures are super unproductive, put them on 1.5 speed or else they'll take ages.

The class itself isn't horrible. As long as you watch the video lectures and follow along. The issue I have comes from the Pearson Graders being way harder than what we learn in class and half the time not even over content we have cover, the packback just generally being a waste of time, and the tests being long with very little time.

This class was honestly super easy as long as you did the bare minimum lectures and homework. Winston's lectures are very helpful and I learned so much in this class that will help me in the real world. Also the tests are easy and very similar to the practice tests. If you do the minimum, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class.

I really liked this prof, he was so nice and his class is super well organized. You can go at your own pace and if you get confused on homework they usually tell you exactly where to find the explanation on his lecture videos. The exams are just like the practices. I would reccommend him for sure

So much of this course revolved around following along with videos online, and Professor Smith always has his microphone way too close to his mouth, which provides for some very obnoxious mic pops every ten seconds or so. The class isn't bad if you stay focused and put in the effort, but there is some work to be done for sure.

Amazing professor! All of his lectures were videos and he walks through everything in great detail and very clearly. One of my favorite classes! Bc it's an excel class, I was unsure if I would be good at it, but I found it very easy! Study the homework and watch the videos and you will be fine! Having a windows computer is definitely preferred.

The entire class is pretty easy, and so were most of the exams. The final, however, was atrocious. Way too much time pressure and doing things that weren't even done in the prior assignments. It's also really frustrating when the video is over extended because he either A: Over explains, or B: Goes off on an unrelated tangent. Avoid if you can

This class is pretty easy as long as you watch the lecture videos; however, it does get harder as it progresses. For the people saying that they were not prepared for the final, it is probably because they didn't do the exam review. The review questions were almost identical to the final; if you knew how to do them, you knew how to do the final.

Absolutely YAPS your ear off day in and day out with videos 5 times longer than needed and there's tons of them to watch a week. Wayyyyy to much work for a BS Excel class, expect to spend 3-4 hours, sometimes more on assignments per week. The tests are timed and almost always come down to the wire.
