I attended every class, watched every movie, took a few pages of notes each class meeting, didn't even buy the textbook, and wound up with a B! BUT he's kind of eccentric. He goes off on short tangents of days gone by, and uses racially insensitive terms.

I rated him compared to other science classes. If you aren't an idiot it's easy. His lab class was the easiest class ever.

He is a very nice man. In order to do well you need to study and read the material on your own. He will lecture and at times can be very boring. But it is up to you to get a good grade.

Professor wutkee is full of prose and verse as he takes us on a journey of geological evolution. I look at mountains differently, study the geology around me. I looked at the scenery in a superficial way--now I feel more engaged. Once you get beyond the quirkiness, his knowlegde and wisdom inspire

He was one of the best and most inspiring teachers I'd ever had...15 years ago. Came back to take Geography and the lab, I was surprised to see how gruff he's gotten and how much he puts off students. He lost his son, I think he's gotten bitter. His lectures difficult to follow, still, he's easy

he is really hard to pay attention to in class, but if you really listen-- he's not so bad. his tests can be tough, but its important you take notes when he gives you the test questions! he gives you more than 1/2 the test. listen to his hints in class also, thatll help you study. this is a really good lab to take-- its surprisingly enjoyable

Very, very nice man who just gets frustrated when students don't share his enthusiasm for a subject that he loves to teach. Expects you to be on time. Gives a lot of the answers before the test and willing to go over material with you after class if you need it. If you listen and study, you will do fine. I liked him a lot!

Mr. Wutkee is a walking history book. His presentation includes, lecture, questions, handouts, maps, video, and hands-on items that he passes during the lecture. He is not an "easy" teacher, but if you really want to learn something from an expert... take him. Just show up to class, RESPECT him, take excellent notes, and you will do great!

A nice guy at heart, but has little patience for rude students. If you ask questions and show just a little interest in the material, it will go a long way on your final grade. I got a B- on every test, but asked questions and was polite, and he gave me an A in the class.

everyone has alot of comments about Wutkee, he is very smart and full of info. you just have to learn to abide by his ways. you dont have to do well on his tests, if you show up all semester you get an A its hard because he rambles alot but just listen to him and ask questions! dont make him mad by not showing up he doesnt ask for anything else

Although some of the topics are dull and boring, he is fascinated by what he teaches. He has a real passion for topics, and he is really helpful. Attendance is not mandatory, but he will remember your face if you seem interested. He is laid back, his tests are directly from his handouts. Read them carefully. I would recommend him.

I have taken Wutkee for 3 of his classes and got an A in each one. He is very passionate about what he is teaching, and will notice any one who shares his passion. As long as you listen to what he repeats and don't miss any classes, you will get a good grade in the class. He really does notice who cares and who doesn't.

He can seem a bit repetitive or off topic, but I learned more about California History than I ever possibly could have hoped for. Attendance is a must! I hope he writes a book before he retires! Watch King of California, and you will have a new appreciation for all that he is talking about.

I took three of his classes while attending COC. He was definitely one of the most memorable teachers I've ever had. He is both knowledgeable and passionate about geology. He had little tolerance for disrespectul students, of which there were many, and I'm sure that's why he has accrued so many negative comments over the years. But I love him.

I wondered if he was still teaching I was in his class. I was playing football at COC from 78-80. He had a saying, I may not get it right but something like "You'll think it's so easy you'll say D-U-H , Duh.. One of the main things I remember plus his beard. I am glad to see he is still teaching, I learned a lot from Mr. Wutkee, his class is what got me interested in Volcanoes. I took his class back in the mid 80's and traveled to most of the Volcanoes in Calif, Oregon and Washington. He is a very great teacher and people are lucky to have a teacher like him.

Great at explaining the Geography and details of where it all started from and originated from. Down to earth and cracks funny jokes at times. Fun to be in his class and loved the class field trip to Sonoma and Yosemite and gold mining shafts. Great stories told from the locals and beautiful breath taking views. .Fantastic teacher and class.
