Dr Song was great this semester. Each class was packed with information, sometimes a bit too much for me. But overall I enjoyed the fact that he was a true African so most times was emotionally attached to his lectures. I also like that fact that he always start class by asking "what's going on in the world" . which invited conversation

Dr. Song is a passionate African professional that turns each lecture into a comprehensive discussion. I liked that he preferred understanding of ideas/topics rather than expect students to regurgitate facts verbatim. The work load is nowhere near extensive. I highly recommend taking Dr. Song for the African Diaspora class.

Now that I have taken the class I can debate with people about how we are ALL from Africa and are at least African whether you identify yourself from Africa or not.

You must read, you must participate, he's very passionate, loved his class, you must read, you must participate!!

He is one of the coolest teachers you will EVER meet. He does NOT give out a lo of homework, and doesn't at all give out projects. The assignments he gives are always easy, and gives ample time to complete them. This is already a class that I absolutely HATE (history) but he actually makes this class interesting. you can tell he loves what he does.

Womai Song writes all of the notes you need on the board and the quizzes will be made from the notes. The quizzes are easy if you study and you have a lot of opportunities to receive extra points. He does not accept many attendance excuses nor late work. If you do your work and 2 papers and participate in the debate you should be able to pass.

I took African Diaspora 305 with him, HE teach super clear and help alot. Just make sure ,m doing homework on time, and take quiz , He is super easy and makes jokes during the class.

The attendance sheet is passed around at the end of every class. We only took 3-4 test and he makes them extremely easy. the test are out of 20 points so he adds 30 questions so it is impossible to fail. the extra points can be used as extra credit. There are two papers you have to write. We don't use the book or have to memorize a map of Africa.

I walked away from African Diaspora with a full knowledge of history and why African Americans evolved to who were are today. Dr. Song knows his stuff!
