Assigns like 5 books, and expects you to read an entire novel in a week as if you don't have any other classes. He intentionally tries to trick you with how he asks questions on exams and clickers. Literally the hardest class I've taken. I had to S/NC the course to save my GPA.
DONOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! this class will kill your Gpa. He is unreasonable with his expectations, too much homework and his test are EXTREMELY HARD!
Professor Nida thinks he is great, but it actually seems like he has no idea what he's talking about. Lectures seem completely pointless but there are surprise clicker quizzes. You will have to read and memorize the textbook. This man does not know how to teach and has a very thick Ethiopian accent, good luck understanding him.
Disorganized professor that uses YouTube to teach for him. His lectures are useless but you need to be there for random clicker questions. He doesn't even explain the answers to the clicker questions either. Useless.
Nida is great, very charismatic and will have great conversations with you if you catch him outside of lecture. He is very funny, you will definitely have to put in work but it's worth it. He definitely knows his stuff and is a great teacher in my opinion.
Not helpful, rude, assigns way too many essays and movie reflections that do not relate to the tests, does not tell you the answers to in class quizzes so you don't know what you don't know, does not answer questions, and ruins the course. You waste discussion sections by interviewing other students. Expects you to memorize every little thing.
This class was very difficult if you didn't do the assigned readings or the homework. Dr. Worku is a good professor, you just have to put in the time to actually study. Overall, you got the grade based on the effort you put in. You are able to pass this class.
If you can help it, avoid him at all costs. To begin, he has a very thick accent and mumbles so lectures are unintelligible. Clicker questions are worded specifically to trick you and he doesn't tell us the answers afterwards. Worse, this class turned into 'White Shaming 101' within the first week. His tests are unfair and he hates opposition.
I would run the other direction. Terrible professor and extremely unexperienced in the Lecture area. As a new professor to UCR he should be teaching intro's not upper div, theory based classes. I am so stressed and upset admin let him teach this class.
Very rude professor when you ask a question . He expects you to remember every little detail in the readings. Lectures are very unclear, does not talk about readings. Avoid this professor at all costs.
Worse professor I have ever had. Midterms and finals are really difficult. The average for the midterm was a D. He does not curve. Expect to read a lot. He is very rude when you try to ask a question. Avoid at all cost.
Many assigned readings that you have to complete in order to get good grades on the pop quizzes, especially on the midterm and final since he really goes in depth with the questions. Assigns several assignments on top of readings but it's constructed so that you get extra points. I highly recommend going to his office hours for help!
Tests ended up being a large portion of the final grade. But his tests were fair and not overly hard. As long as you do the essay assignments with effort and studied you can get a good grade.
If you study the terms and read, you'll be fine. In other words, put in effort and actually do the work. He is sometimes a bit hard to understand but he'll readily answer any questions. He is very kind and tries his best to cater to the students. He is very open-minded and has a great sense of humor. You get what you put into the class. Very fair.
Heavy accent was hard to understand at times. Lecture online before class, and the tests were based on it. Tests were 3 parts: multiple choice, true or false, and fill in the blank. You needed the textbook and book for the assignments. Watched movies once a week, and had to write about it.
Believe the other people here. DO NOT TAKE HIM! It's not that his work is hard; the midterms/finals are ridiculous. He expects you to remember things word for word. Assignments are super easy though. If you want to learn from a professor, do not take him.
This is the most politically charged professor I have ever taken at UCR. It is unacceptable. He talks about his son constantly and expresses his anger (he literally said that he gets angry) that his son doesn't want to learn his cultural language. He goes on fallacious rants about how globalization is bad and then asks "Am I right?" Avoid him.
Pretty much half the class wouldn't show up if it weren't for his clicker questions. Majority of what is talked about in class isn't on the midterm. Only thing bearable and helpful bout this class is the discussions. Maybe the TAs should be teaching the class. The only thing I learned from this class is that Dr. Worku Nida is from Ethiopia.
Terrible class, the professor and discussions barely cover the content, the vast majority of you grade is based on the midterm, final, and clicker questions (which he uses to force attendance until the very end of lecture). There are few assignments to pad your grade and even less now that he has removed two and placed the weight into the exams.
Avoid him.
A very funny individual. There is quite a bit of homework and reading weekly. We have daily clicker quizzes in class and the midterm and final are a large portion of your grade. The course material is not difficult, but you do have to work extremely hard to get a good grade. (I studied for 10+ hours for the midterm and received an 88%)
this man straight up assigns too much work to actually do and expects you to do all of it. he goes really in depth with questions, expects you to remember terms word for word after 80 page readings, and then gets your grade to bomb with specific finals and midterms. Not worth. Dont take the class. The work i had to put in just was not worth it
His is very theory and anecdotal, but his exams are very 'by the books'. You also have to show up as he grades his clicker questions, that;s all we did for a couple lectures. He is also stringent on his syllabus, which he himself actually doesn't follow- this cost student a couple grades. Don't take this class unless you are an Anthro major.
Makes you work for an A. Goes through slides quickly. Focus on what he says, slides are posted online. Pop clicker quizzes during lecture, study these questions. Do the readings as he draws from them. Keep up with the work. Test questions are tricky but dont over-complicate. He does care about your success, but you have to show him that you care.
Must attend class regularly for clicker questions. They are a large part of your overall grade. They can be really really specific as well. There is one midterm and a final. Group projects, and minor homework assignments. Overall, this class was difficult but you can get an A. Just be prepared to read A LOT and be quizzed during every lecture.
Honestly he isnt difficult. He does have clicker quizzes so skim the chapter the night before, so you have an understanding of the chapter.i procrastinated heavily in this class and got an A+
In order to get a good grade in this class you MUST buy the books and do the reading. Lecture is mandatory because he takes attendance through clicker questions based off the chapters assigned. The study guides he gives you are trash and dont help at all so you just have to study the whole textbook. Hes not bad but it is a lot of reading.
He makes anthropology 001 way too hard. It shouldn't be this hard for an intro class. He uses clicker and he makes the questions tricky as if he wants us to get the answer wrong. He teaches in fall so avoid him.
He does his best to answer any questions you may have about the reading. He clears up the readings with the PowerPoint presentations. He likes for students to participate and he enjoys hearing the different opinions from all views. If you do the readings before class, you'll do well on the clicker questions.
I took this my 1st year at UCR!! It wasn't actually a terrible class, just a lot of work! You can tell that Professor Nida is very passionate about teaching, which is what made the class enjoyable. Just beware of the in-lecture quizzes and make sure to read!!
Professor Nida is actually pretty cool, I took his class on Africa and I can say if you out in the effort required for a college class, you will pass. The readings are reasonable and he gives us enough time to do them. You can even skip ahead and work on them weeks before they are due. The midterms are group projects and the final is a 4 page paper
Professor Nida is an incredibly smart, friendly, accessible, and fair professor. I really enjoyed taking his class and learning from him. I learned a lot despite there not being much work in the class. We had 2 short writing assignments, a presentation, and daily reading which was pretty easy to understand. Overall an effective class and professor.
The professor calls people out during his lecture so I would not recommend to take his class if you have social anxiety. However he does crack a few jokes here and there I got a descent grade without even reading the textbook. All I did was all the work and I payed attention and took notes during lecture and discussion and that did the trick.
I loved ANTH001 with Nida. He clearly loves doing what he does and he demonstrates it by making every lecture fun and interesting. Also, the class explores lots of topics like race, power, sexuality, etc which are important in today's society so I recommend everyone to take it.
Professor Nida assigns weekly quizzes and each lecture he expects everyone to have the chapter read so try to be prepared if he calls on you. I recommend reading the book because his lectures are based off of the readings, but also pay attention to what he says in lecture. He gave a lot of ec through the poll questions which helped a lot.
He writes his questions strangely in order to confuse you. The material is easy, yet he attempts to trick you into getting answers wrong. He is rude in class to students with questions and he does not help students in any way. Avoid his class if possible
He assigns weekly readings which are about 40 pages long, twice a week which I found a bit long and boring. He has maximum page requirements which is hard not go over as he asks for so much information in 1-2 pages. When writing, just write exactly what he wants, don't fluff. I found lecture useless, but you need to turn in your weekly summaries.
Dr. Nida is a great professor, minimal work and easy concepts to understand. People who rated him low don't know how to follow simple directions
This class is mostly reading-based. Lectures include poll everywhere questions that can really help your grade if you read. There is a midterm and final with both mc and t/f questions which is easy since he gives you a study guide. Offers extra credit by doing additional assignments, do them! Don't be worried it's an easy A, JUST READ!
I didn't read, you get a 100 if you do the hw, it takes about thirty minutes every week. Instead of reading I'd just stay a week ahead on the homework and it gives you all the info. After the midterm I realized showing up to class was unnecessary as long as you do the poll. Boring course and tests ask common sense questions about why racism is bad.
Dr. Nida is very nice and is very knowledgeable, but unfortunately lecture is a complete snoozefest. Attendance is taken through PollEverywhere. 3 assignments, 1 midterm, 1 final. Definitely show up to discussion and do the textbook reading (which is quite simple), it helps more than listening in lecture.
Makes attendance mandatory by having poll everywhere questions throughout lecture. There is one midterm and one final, but the study guides that he provides are very unhelpful. Weekly online homework and 3 writing assignments which aren't too bad. As long as you do the assignments and the extra credit that he asigns, you should be fine.
Weekly homework, 3 assignments, 1 midterm and the final. Overall pretty easy if you do all your homework and attend the class for poll points. 100% Recommend.
Although I went to class, most of my success came from reading the book. Tests were easy IMO as they were just multiple choice. From what I saw during lectures he is passionate about Anthropology and its various applications. He cared about students and adapted to their concerns--a rare attribute. If you fail this class you simply did not try.
Class is fairly easy, just stay on top of homework and reading to get an easy A. The hardest part of the class are the lectures. All the lectures are extremely slow and he often goes off on tangents and gets distracted from the main topic. It is hard to take notes for the class. Reading the textbook is your friend.
good class. prof nida is nice and very knowledgeable. he uses poll everywhere to take attendance so lecture is mandatory. all midterms and finals are in class on ilearn. not too difficult just do your readings and weekly quizzes and you should be fine
Hes rude
Professor was nice most of the time. Lectures were the most boring thing iv'e ever experienced. He assigned a lot of work but they were pretty easy to do. Midterm and final are multiple choice and there were 3 short essays assigned. If you had to take anthro I'd say go for it but avoid it if you can.
Easy class overall. Read the weekly readings, and you will get a good grade. This class is very expensive, requires you to buy the textbook for access code, and pay for participation in a project. Very simple grading- midterm, final, and coursework. Does give 15 free points, this raises everyones grades significantly.
He is literally so boring. I almost always fell asleep in class. The exams are high key kind of hard... like the material that you have to study isnt too difficult, but the way he forms the questions make the exam confusing. I never read the book just used quizlet and studying the study guide material, and I got a B in the class. Not a good class!
The course is interesting, and he knows how to teach it. I was happy that he was respectful of sensitive topics, and educated himself on them. Class is mandatory because he has e-poll questions at the beginning, middle, and end of the class. Don't use your phone in the lecture or he will catch you. Uses InQuisitive so 75 free points if you do it.
Professor Nida is extremely caring and understanding. He is a professor that has high expectations though, so do your hw and READ what he assigns. He is not afraid to call on random students.
Professor Nida is a great guy! Really caring and very knowledgable. He does require a lot of readings though so get ready. If you do your readings, you will do well in his class. Be careful though- he might randomly call on you
Nida DOES NOT TEACH. LITERALLY. He discontinued lectures for the rest of the quarter after a zoom bombing incident on the first day! He shouldn't even be a professor as he has yet to teach anything. He is selfish, and he'll do anything to benefit himself without a care about how his actions negatively impact his students learning and success. AVOID
Professor Nida's lectures aren't the most entertaining, but as long as you keep up with the weekly homework you will do fine. The homework helps you get a better understanding of the lesson (even if you don't do the readings). It's also very easy, so you don't have to stress about it. Everything he discusses in lecture is in the book.
I basically had to teach myself since Professor Nida stopped lecturing and only posted slides after a zoombombing incident on the first day. When he finally began lecturing about 2 weeks before the final, the lectures were super long and boring.
I had Professor Nida during the pandemic and can say his ANTH001 class was a breeze! There's a lot of reading but as long as you read everything, the tests are multiple choice and fairly easy as he let us do open notes. He really cares about your learning and grade!
Lectures were boring, but mandatory because part of your grade is PollEverywhere. The material is understandable and informative (everyone should take this course). Theres two midterms, discussions, weekly quizzes and assignments, but they do not require anything more than reading and staying on track. He cares a lot and is so caring. Easy A!
This professor is actually awful. He doesn't teach Cultural Anthropology, he touches on subjects of it, before both going into current political issues he thinks relates, and giving his view and only his view on complicated issues with multiple viewpoints as though it is fact. His lectures are a waste of time. You only learn from the book. Awful.
Midterm and final are basically definitions. Provides studyguide. 3 papers throughout the quarter, fairly easy if you have a good t.a. Uses Poll everywhere. Homework assigned weekly through a website Inquizative,/ need access code that comes with the book to use this. Seems like a lot of work but if you stay on schedule you'll pass. Eye-opening !
Dr. Nida is an excellent lecturer, and his explanations are easy to understand. However, this class is very lecture heavy and if it is difficult for you to listen to somebody for 1 1/2 hours, I wouldn't suggest it. A lot of busywork, too, so look out for that. Midterm, final, a few short essays, projects... But easy to complete. Just a lot.
I'm not usually one to go scorched-earth on a professor, but I feel that Dr. Nida had an unnecessary amount of work in his class. His tests were written in a way that did not reflect the study guide in the slightest, his lectures were long and it was easy to lose focus, and it did not seem like he adapted the work at all for an online environment.
The topics discussed were very much interesting however the lectures were a dread and he would lose us half the time during the lecs. The TAs are who carry the class, if you get lucky and get a nice TA, itll be an easy A/B
Not a helpful person at all. Responds to emails quickly, but its like he doesnt read them or just doesnt care. Very unclear instructions too, would not take ever again
Prof. Nida is very considerate about the fact that we're in a nation-wide pandemic. This class does cover a lot of material, but the homework quizzes (InQuizitive), the CTAs, and CAFJs are pretty easy. The midterm and final are similar and pretty easy if you take good notes. If you at least try, you're bound to get a good grade in this class.
The quizzes are on smartwork and you are basically guaranteed an A. There were 3 projects and an open book, open note midterm and final. I think it would probably not be that hard to pass if you don't read but if you are like me and always read say goodbye to your free time.
Took this class online and it was the worst. The content is interesting but the prof had us do way too much work. I found myself reading 60 pages a week & he assigns too many papers. He made the class very expensive as well. For our final, there were technical difficulties & he refused to give it to us until they were solved. Avoid him at all costs
I think this professor is the worse professor in UCR. Literally, I learned nothing in his class. His accent is hard to understand. This class is expensive. Students have to spend an extra fee to purchase the useless ebook and quizzes.
This course is more about the economy of Africa rather than the anthropology, so keep that in mind before enrolling. Assignments are not difficult, but very very repetitive. You will be writing 1000+ words a week. I wish the prof was more welcoming to hearing out students concerns and struggles with the course too, can be a bit arrogant.
If you can avoid this professor please do! you will spend 3x the amount of time on this class than others! he doesn't use class time to lecture instead he wastes it talking about nothing and you have to be the technical savvy and help him run class. He just doesn't understand online format and makes it very difficult for students.
Professor Nida was not very involved with his students. He gave plenty of "busy work" like you would see in middle school. Most importantly, I finished with a 89.6 in the course and he did not round up. Every other professor I ever had would round up. I dont know if it is pride or laziness, but Professor Nida does not care what your final grade is.
Anthropology was an easy class itself, we usually just talked about social issues in the US and in other places in the world. All depends on your TA because prof Nida does not like dealing with students and your TA grades everything. The quizzes at the end were easy. If his lectures were in person I would definitely fall asleep in class
Lecture slides have very little information. Lecture is mostly professor Nida rambling. Essay prompts were 6+ pages and expected too much for 3 page papers. It seems that professor Nida thinks that the more he adds to emails, prompts, and other communications make him appear more professional, but it simply obscures the main focus of the class.
Professor Nida knows his material and is very caring with his students. He makes sure to connect topics discussed in lectures with modern society. Polls were done in class and no tests. Only a few papers that I found were more about learning rather than if you were right or wrong.
This class is easy but unclear at times. Also very expensive too, had to pay over 50 dollars for course materials that were useless. 3 essays, weekly inquisitive assignments, and whatever was due in discussion. But he is unclear on grading criteria.
Class with TA students never spoke with Professor. Hard to understand cause of his accent. 15 Inquisitive quizzes. eBook, Journal, Quizzes cost $35. $15 fee for a project. Prof says email for waiver to get rid of the fee but no one will reply. 2 Papers due(3 pages & 5 pages long)(one interviewing another classmate). Not hard but lots to do.
Don't listen to the other reviews. If you want an easy elective course this is it. I got 100% in the class. Do the work and you will pass with an easy A. 2 papers that you have plenty of time to write. One project that is easy. Quizzes every week that are also easy. Mose of the quarter I got the weeks worth of work done in one day.
You will pretty much only need the textbook, because his lectures can be hard to follow and you can tune them out. He uses InQuizitive which is how I got 100% of the info. It's a lot of busywork sometimes but the papers were not hard, just make sure to read instructions VERY carefully and check all the criteria. No tests though, which was nice.
I'm gonna be honest with you guys... If you read the prompts for the 2 papers, and write everything in the prompt, you can get an A. Real easy. Lectures are definitely not required. Just do inquizitives and write the papers. This is an easy A if you are not lazy.
This class was SO expensive. You have to buy an online book for like $40 to have access to it and the quizzes, plus you had to pay $15 for the Public Anthropology thing which was a waste of time. No midterm or final, instead you had 2 Critical Thinking Assignments that had too many parts to them and 3 Cultural Anthropology Field Journals.
I personally feel like the professor was not respectful to his students but it was an easy A. There was weekly chapter assignments talked about in discussion, and your grade relays on the TA, there are 2 essays (not bad at all), weekly assignments that you can finish the whole quarters worth in a week or two, and 3 other writing assignments.
I am glad that I didn't listen to the negative reviews! I took AA experiences in the US and it was one of the most enriching classes. There are weekly readings but each week there are groups that present the readings and basically explain what the readings are about so you don't have to. Just pay attention to due dates and you will do great.
This class was an easy breadth, not really a heavy workload so this wasn't a class I was worried about. I had it online which was even better as attendance wasn't mandatory and he posts his lecture videos and slides. The only con is you have to pay 40 dollars to access a book and the assignments that accompany it but it's easy coursework.
The course was easy, online lectures, not mandatory. Just need to finish CTA, CAFJ, and inquizitives.
Very easy class. I did not go to any lectures and there are no midterms, only essays. Put in some work and you will get an A.
Easy A class, just do quizzes/homework with answers online. No midterms/finals, just two essays from prompts. Attend discussions on time as they matter. The lectures aren't great, so it's better not to attend.
weekly quizzes and 2 papers to turn in. if you manage your time correctly this is a very easy class. i don't think i would've done as well if it weren't for my ta who cleared everything up so well. his due dates are very scattered and difficult to comprehend so be sure to ask questions and avoid missing points!
This is any easy class I just forgot to attend discussions. The things that your grade are based off of are papers and assignments. There aren't any midterms of finals. Do not neglect discussions since it makes up a big percent on your grades. If you do the work you'll get an A.
The class is fairly easy but lots of reading and homework. Get ready to do presentations with group members as you guys basically teach the class. Theres one midterm essay 3 pages, and one final essay 4-5 pages, classwork is writing 400 word assignments and responding to peers. Participation matters. You can tell he's passionate about this class.
Dr. Nida's lectures were not difficult to understand but I did fine without attending them. My TA made this class very easy and fun!
He acted like he was the king and just to talk to him you had to go to the TA to ask him a question. His syllabus is the longest syllabus I have ever seen and although it is helpful I think it is too excessive. There is no midterm and no final. Your grade is based on two essays and weekly homework assignments.
Class was really easy. Two papers about your culture and identity. weekly homework and a couple assignments in the discussion section.
I highly recommend this course. Online homework system (easy, can get 100%), midterm essay, final essay, discussion, peer reviews. TA gave me feedback on my essay, wasn't graded harshly. Spend the time and you will do well, just follow the prompt perfectly. Can miss lectures/readings, just use textbook for homework/essays, don't forget sources.
so easy honestly. you dont need to go to lecture, but if you do its hard to understand what he's saying cause the captions dont align with his accent. just do the work, and youll be fine!
he was disrespectful. his syllabus was 20 pages which was ridiculous and he made everything about this class boring and confusing. he's terrible at explaining and i can barely understand what he's saying half the time lol. i h@ted this class, stopped going to lectures bc they were so useless. take for the easy A but do not go to him for help
I never attended his class after the first lecture. Lecture is absolutely useless to be honest. Going to discussion is more than enough. The TA that I have is very helpful and clears up the deadlines. Discussion sections are mandatory and part of your participation grade. 2 papers which are easy, and a few other small assignments that are easy.
Anth001 was not difficult to get through, but the professor had several unnecessary details in his assignment prompts. Two papers (3 pages & 5 pages) that are not that difficult, easy weekly hw quizzes, no exams. Lots of easy work but time-consuming. Lecture attendance is not required and the professor is not a great lecturer.
By far the worst syllabus l've ever seen. Extremely long, inconsistent and confusing, filled with completely useless information. Weird rules and explanations that are completely unnecessary, assignments are like that too. He states that turning in a final draft that is 70% similar to the rough draft is self plagiarism. Simply false info.
The professor was very clear and organized, as he provided the students with a very thorough syllabus of what we were to expect for the quarter. The only thing that got a bit confusing for me in this class were the instructions on some of the assignments, but in the end I was able to seek the clarification I needed from either the professor or TA.
Very bad lecturer but very easy class. I simply stopped going after the first lecture they're so useless. The two papers (3 pg and 5pg) are fairly easy. The weekly quizzes help you learn the content. Super long syllabus and he makes it hard to navigate Canvas. But easy class also depending on your TA.
Follow the instructions and you will get a perfect grade. Only 3 hours a week of work
Not sure why this guy teaches, he has a 25 page syllabus and is very rude to people who asks questions that are so obviously explained on page 13/25. There are only 2 big assignments but the prompts are 6 pages long terribly explained he says your final draft must be 70% different from the first draft but every TA will say the opposite.
Your grade in the class heavily depends on your TA! Lectures are unnecessary. I thankfully had Ben who was more laid back. There are inquisitive every week on an online textbook you have to pay for. Two papers that are relatively easy, but make sure you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, there a lot of tedious requirements to meet. No exams.
The class wasn't difficult but I didn't like the structure. It was online. TAs were in charge of grading everything, and it's based on luck who you get as a grader.Professor was the speaker and heavily relied on the TAs, even when students have questions. 2 essays which you need to produce different drafts for each. Some TAs are HARDER than others.
Professor Nida is nice, but his lectures are horrible. His whole canvas is overcomplicated and your success in the class depends on the TA that you get since they grade everything. The work is easy just time consuming. There are two papers the first is 3 pages and the second is 5, with no midterms or a final. The lectures are optional.
Professor Nida seems like a really nice guy. Unfortunately, his lectures are all over the place, and his prompts/rubrics for assignments are very confusing and intimidating. The TA's assign a lot of work, but it's manageable and it doesn't require much effort.
The prof is not great, lectures are boring and useless. Didn't go to any after 1st week. Grade depends on TA. 2 papers are long but doable, got a B on both. inquizatives are easy, forgot to do 2 so got an 80% on that part. 2 discussion post which are just for credit, 3 hw assignments which are easy. Discussions are mandatory, my TA was goated.
He has a 15 page syllabus that you have to take a quiz on, he gives two long essays with instructions longer than the essay itself, and requires you to grade your own essay on top of another student grading it as well. Also if you don't significantly rewrite your draft for the final, he gives a 0 for self-plagarism.
The class is easy with minimal work, but the professor's long and confusing syllabus makes it a bit of a headache. Using Unstuck AI and focusing on the TA's guidance helped me get through it smoothly.
He has very heavy accent
It was a very easy class. The syllabus is very confusing, but once you read through it the work is very few and well distributed.
Would not take him again. Difficult to understand while he's lecturing. The course content is not interesting the way its presented and the TA's aren't that great. I think this was one of my few disliked classes at UCR. The professor was a bit catty at times but yeah this class is not it, take a different subject as a filler.
Grade depends on your TA, nice Ta= easy A. The majority of your grade is based off 2 essays. Class was easy you don't need to go to lectures just discussions but the prof is rude. I emailed him to reach out instead of through canvas once and he sent me a really aggressive email.Had to email for months for extension when I had a valid reason.
A decent person who seems to be passionate about anthropology, but that's about it. The syllabus is monumental in size and confusing, lectures are hard to understand and lackluster, and his grading policies are harsher than need be. He is not an effective teacher, I wouldn't take his class again.
This class was hard for a breadth. You could secure a decent grade if your TA was nice though. Lectures were hard to understand and didn't offer a lot in terms of content. He is very passionate about his work and I respect that a lot but the class was not as easy as it could have been. Would recommend taking a different social science breadth class
