His kind and funny also helpful easy grading tests
Just awesome professor. I would take him again! I got an easy A
He's really helpful and will answer any question even if it was asked already. Students often go to him during office hours and homework is not too much unless you let it pile up like I did. His teaching is extremely easy to understand and he's very helpful. Just study for midterms.
Not sure if this was his first year teaching at De Anza, but Professor Howard was actually a good teacher! His lectures are very clear and if you need help, he's there to answer your questions. He knows alot of math trivia and is very knowledgeable. Not to mention that he's cute too!
Really nice chill guy! He's a little bit quirky but you could definitely tell that he wanted us to understand the material. Homework was a moderate amount (but he assigns it in chunks so make sure to stay on top of it!) Always was willing to answer any questions and clarify any concept.
Best math teacher I have ever had! If you are someone who struggles with math you can't find anyone better to help you through the process of learning. He is one of the most respectful and thorough teachers I have ever had. He treats you like an equal while maintaing a teacher-student relationship. Wish he taught all math classes!!
He's a good teacher, like you can tell he genuinely tries to help his students! His class wasn't hard, but it's still not an easy A because you need to know the material. Everything is pretty straight forward though, he tests you based off of what he teaches and assign. The only problem is that he never responds to emails.
Professor Howard is good, he helps, teach his student really well. he teach what's in the book he make sure he go through everything in the book. and if somebody does not get it, he will go back to part that you didnt get it. and what is nice he will give you lots of HW to practice. I would like to take his other class again.
He is so nice and hilarious, but MATH 1C is not an easy subject. Doing HW is a MUST if you want to do well. He is very young so he did at times show his inexperience, but I think he did a great job overall. Very patient and understanding when he helped and he always told us stories to lighten the mood during class. Tests are straightforward!
Dude's jokes are so corny, I actually found them really funny. His lectures are average, but he does clarify well if anyone says something is unclear. The homework isn't on webassign so it takes a lot of time, but his tests are heavily based on the homeworks so if you study these thoroughly, you'll do well on his tests. Overall, a solid professor.
His exams are all based on lectures and homework. Study those and you will do great. He also explains things the way that's pretty easy to understand. He wants you to learn so he would try his best to help you out.
Wyatt was one of my favorite professors, only because he was such a goofball and made the course really easy to understand. Exams are usually based on problems we went over in lecture, so attendance is necessary. Hw was assigned nightly, and book was online so no need to purchase. Overall great class. Oh and he's a cutie too, lol.
He is the best math teacher ever at De Anza. I have never rated any professor before, but this guy is amazing. Go to class, study lecture, do homework, and get an A. His lecture is clear, well-organized, and straightforward. He also hold weekly meetings for an unofficial Linear Algebra course in his office where he made math 2B become so easy.
Awesome teacher! He always tells funny but corny jokes and makes comments. Homework is assigned every class but it's reasonable and is similar to the tests. He also gives you a healthy curve at the end of the class
He doesnt teach. He lectures. He talks nonstop in an abstract way. His explanations were so wordy class was hard to follow and painful to sit through. It was like waiting for someone to get to the point! But each point was even more theoretical than the first.
Gives homework after every class meeting. Only 2 is collected on day of a midterm. Prof is a young. He is understanding, funny, and nice. He curves the midterms! I feel like you can miss a few classes and it wouldn't hurt ya. He emails you homework and you can just go to the book for help on that section that he went over in class. Would take again
I'm so glad that I took his class for my first quarter here at De Anza. He is so so FUNNY !! I OMG, believe me he wants you to get a good grade in this class. You have a chance to retake the quizzes for full credit every time. He also gave the mid term sample so you will kinda know hows the test gonna be look like.
Not exactly easy, but you have to work hard for it!!
He is fast paced in his lectures, but if you go to his office hours, he will definitely slow it down for you. His lectures are pretty clear, and he always tries to insert some joke in the lecture. He gives HW almost every day, but only two are due on exam day. 4 exams including final and 4 quizzes and has a good grading curve. Best math prof at DA!
Professor Howard is one of my favorite teachers! He's super funny and energetic all the time. His lectures are super clear and easy to follow; I really enjoyed his class.
Merciless towards the class. His office hours make it hard to ask him for help, his tests are incredibly difficult, he teaches the material in a confusing manner, he gives an unnecessarily large amount of homework, and if you try asking him for possible extra credit, he will rudely snub you. He is overrated.
One of my favorite teachers ever. He's super nice and helpful. His lectures are super easy to follow. An awesome teacher! Would like to take his class again!
A fabulous professor! Can say only good words! Very nice, patient, supportive, and hilarious! He assigns homework every day but it's very useful since that's how you practice to get better at it. Also, he collects only 2 homeworks before each exam. Extra credit opportunities as well! Wonderful!
Assigns homework everyday but really its not much at all considering this is a math class and other professors give way more. He likes to do proofs that are dry and confusing at first but its really simple when you get it and redo them a few times. Just study what he tell you to expect on the test and it should be easy.
A good class and a very nice professor. So glad I took it! Would like to take another one with Professor Howard!
Math 1B is the hardest calculus class at De Anza. He managed to make it less intimidating with his clear lectures, and he's incredibly reasonable with his workload. He lets you correct your quizzes to get points back. He even stopped assigning homework during the week before finals just so we could study. He gets what it's like to to be a student.
Mr. Howard is one of my favorite professors ever. He's always ready to answer any questions and help. He gives a chance to get the points back for quizzes during his office hours. Extra credit opportunities for each exam. Just loved the class. Will take one again!
Prof. Howard is a great teacher. This was the first math class where I actually understood the material and also enjoyed learning. This was my first ever A in math. HW is important for the tests. He is good at breaking down problems so you can better understand them and why you do things a specific way. I wish he taught pre-calc and calc!
Good teacher, has a good sense of humor, gives reasonable amount of hw, gives chance to correct quizzes, the one bad thing i'd say is that he gives looooooooooooooooooong explanations just to solve one problem. Students get frustrated because he should just get to the point! But he means well, i guess...
He is pretty detailed, writes everything on board, tries his best to make students understand .Do what he tells you to do, you will be successful in his class. Only regret were that wish sometimes he could explain to the points, and because it is summer course, sometimes he tried to run through the material quickly without too much explanation
he is a very very nice person. he gives lots of extra credit opportunities. you just need to learn from the lecture, do your homework, and write you note. and then you will be fine with this class. you can ask him any questions during his office hour. he is willing to help. he loves math very much and you can tell it. his class won't be boring.
He is very helpful, clear, and caring. You will have extra credit opportunity for midterms and final. He is willing to answer your questions during his office hour. He is happy if you want to discuss math problems with him. I think he really likes math. Sometimes, he told some interesting math stories during the lecture. His test is super easy!
He's a really great guy, great at teaching. Seems to love his job and students. Only problem his test are like puzzles. Midterm 2 he said don't worry about these little things he went over in class. Then pop they were on the test.... take him but go over and above studying for test!!!!!!!!!!! Study for test I swear!!!!!
Hes really hilarious, a great lecturer as well. His tests are reasonable. If you do all the homework, youll ace the test. Love Dr. Howard.
Mr. Howard is an amazing professor. Hes very helpful, nice, and caring. Hes always ready to explain you the material that you didnt get. He provides quiz corrections and it helps a lot in taking your grade to the next level. Its my second class with him and I didnt regret I took it again! Would advice everyone. Best math professor ever!
If math is easy for you, you'll be okay with him. He's a decent teacher. He is not the teacher for you if you need to ask questions. First you won't feel comfortable asking questions because he can sometimes be pretty rude. If you do so happen to ask one, he will often direct you to come to office hours, even if it would be simple to just answer...
I had him for honors calc. He is a great teacher, really! He explains everything very well, he will always answer your questions and you will understand his answer. However his tests were tough, the extra credit was very difficult, except for the last midterm. He looks for specific things when grading, he wants you to prove many things too!
Professor Howard is an awesome teacher! Best math professor Ive ever had in my life. He explains everything that he goes through and is always ready to answer your questions. His midterms are very descent. Nice grader. Gives extra credit opportunities for each exam and also quiz corrections. He is very nice! Enjoyed his class!
A fabulous professor! He is funny and caring. He gives a chance to correct the quizzes. Midterms and the final are very descent. Extra credit opportunities! Mr. Howard is a cool teacher! Would recommend his class to everyone!
Hands down MATH KING! If math is your weakest subject take Dr. Howard. His lectures are clear and he works at a steady pace. He's approachable during class and office hours. He is in sync with his students. He's constantly making sure his students are not lost or confused with assignments. He cares about his students and it shows in class.
If math is your weakest subject take Dr. Howard. Math is my weakest subject and in Dr. Howard's class I felt like a rock star. I would answer questions right. I was never lost in the class. I grew confidence in math. I look forward to taking him in Calculus. He's very nice and approachable. He works at a good pace. His lectures are very clear.
Mr. Howard is a fabulous math teacher! Loved his class! He cares about his students. He never moves on without making sure everything is clear and you dont have any questions! The best math professor in my entire life! Math looks so easy with him. He chooses 2 homeworks before each exam that you need to turn in on the exam day. Awesome professor!
Take him as a last resort. Very tough grader and he wants everything done his way. He teaches class very fast and his office hours is always busy. His class is based off of his Tests. If you're not a good test grader, you will have a bad time.
Awesome professor! It was my second class with Mr. Howard. Didnt regret that I took his class again and would advice to everyone! Extra credit opportunities on each exam and quiz corrections. He always makes sure no one is left behind and each student follows the material. He is a very nice guy!
Math with Professor Howard looks so easy and interesting. Very nice lectures. Hes always there for his students being ready to answer their questions. He assignes homework every day but chooses 2-3 which is due on exam day. Extra credit too! Liked the class a lot!
He was really funny & gr8 at teaching the material Don't fool around like using your phone, sleep, etc. cuz hes not afraid to call u out. He was very lenient on grading hw. Tests were not super ez or hard but he does provide extra credit questions which help a lot. Absence policy is no more than 7. Hard 2 understand the material if u skip a class
Out of all the math professors I've taken, Mr. Howard is the best. He has a good sense of humor, which makes lectures not so boring. Also, he is always easy to access and is always willing to help. His lectures are very clear and he makes sure everyone is in sync. A huge plus is that he allows quiz corrections. Definitely recommend!
Wyatt Howard is the best math professor Ive ever had in my entire life. Easy to follow! He has a great sense of humor. 3 midterms, 3 quizzes ( he allows to correct them), and the final. He always wills to help with the material. Math is so much fun with him! Also, he gives extra credit on each exam! Mr. Howard is awesome!
He's a tough grader but he gives a lot of chances to people. He gives out quizzes and if you missed one or two, he lets you do quiz corrections in order to make up for the points. He also gives EC in the four question test so you can skip a question and still can get an A. Just always pay attention to his lectures and do all the homework.
I hated math until I had Prof Howard. He changed it all for me. Hes the first teacher Ive ever had that was patient and explained everything. He also does it in a humorous and entertaining way. Seriously, you will never get a better math teacher than Prof Howard. His grading criteria is very straight up. I like math now, thanks to him!
He is so unnatural and awkward. Makes dad jokes which is okay but goes on for way to long to explain jokes and math equations. Personally wouldn't take him again. Also calls kids out for phones. are we in grade school?? Never felt that I would go to him for help, he's too judgmental!
Mr. Howard is the best math professor. I liked the course structure: 3 quizzes (he gives a chance to correct each of them), 3 midterms, and the final. Extra credits are on each exam. Also, he assignes HW after each class, but you will need to turn in only 2-3 on the exam day. He is always ready to help with any math issues. He is also hilarious
Calc 1D is very hard. Its a culmination of all other calc classes. He just does problems from the book during class lecture. He goes really really fast. I had to take pictures because it was so fast. 3 midterms, a few test(with corrections), and hw is collected on exam day and counts for 10/80 points. Still a very hard class!! Got a D. Good luck!
He is absolutely nice and patient. However, if you are not good at math, be careful. Since 85% of your grade depends on three exams(irreplaceable and cannot be corrected) and one final. If you do not do well on one of them, you might not be able to get the grade you want.
Professor Howard is super nice, patient, and helpful! You can correct the quizzes. He uses a curve grading. Also, he assignes hw after each class but its due an exam day (2-3 of them). He is always willing to answer your questions and spend time to explain you the material that you dont get. Best math professor Ive ever had!
Honestly, I would always have a hard time with math. But after taking professor Howard the past 2 quarters, passed both of his classes and I'm able to completely understand everything. Long class hours but worth it.
I've taken until Math 1C by now but I think so far he is the best math professor. I learnt the most out of his class. Easy A. He is very sharp and passionate about math. Gives tons of extra credit for solving extra questions on midterms. I forgot to turn in 1 out of 3 of my homework but still got good grade because his tests are easy.
Best math professor ever! He gives extra credit problems on each exam. He uses curve grading. 3 midterms and a final. Also, 3 quizzes which you can correct and get the points back. He assignes hw after each class (not that much) but chooses 2-3 that are needed to be turned in on the day of the exam. One of my favorite professors! Awesome guy!
Professor Howard does not make lectures seem boring. He is super nice and hilarious. Tests are not that heavy but you need to study in order to pass the class with a good grade. If you didn't get the right answer but showed the steps of your work, you'll still get a partial credit. Out of all math classes I have taken this is my favorite one
Be ready for the two midterm and one final, which covers 75 % of your overall grade. There are extra credits on each midterm. Take solid notes and do all the homework. Midterm questions are from homework and lectures.
Really nice professor who cares for his student. If u did the HW and took the notes in the class u will be ok in the midterms and final.
A lot of times when you take difficult classes theres an at least. At least he drops an exam, or at least theres a break, or at least we can go home after the exam. Not here. He cuts 0 slack, and pretends you have 0 other classes to study for. Doesnt take hw questions in class, crazy fast paced, insane exam expectations, 2 much homework.
Great professor, really into the subject and explains everything he does step by step. During lectures he sometimes gives hints on proofs to memorize for midterms, pretty nice. I'd recommend taking the course during the summer to focus on it more, class gets hard at the end
Howard is amazing, compassionate, willing to work WITH u on improving study skills, learning the proofs in class. Teaches that math isn't learning how to do 1 problem, but how to do ANY problem. Tests r detailed, but he recognizes persistence, and teaches extra in office reviews. Class was up and down but he is extremely helpful, gave good advice!
Wyatt Howard is an amazing professor. His class is not an easy A, but if you go to his office hours you can succeed. He puts 1-2 proofs on every test, but he tells you ahead of time which ones he expects you to be responsible for. His lectures are informative and very funny!
he is a good and funny person. there are 3 midterms and 3 board quizzes, the quizzes are easy because he will give the list of questions ahead of time, but the midterms are hard and you need to really understand the materials because he would ask you do the proofing on the exams. the final is cumulative so you have to work harder.
hard hard hard
Fair teacher. You get the grade you deserve. Midterms are only difficult if you don't conceptually understand the material. However, he does a good job explaining it and I found that his lectures made the book a lot more easier to understand. Do the hw and GO TO OFFICE HOURS/EMAIL. Wish I went more bc super helpful and he kinda hints what's on exam
For those coming into calc for the first time, this class is hard. It takes so much time out of your week... and you still won't do well. Stressful and my brain is always fried. Heavy notes and light hw that focuses on what's important. Short exams, which are deadly, so attention to work is crucial. One problem quizzes, randomly chosen by him.
BEWARE! If this is your first time taking calc1a get ready to either fail or devote your entire quarter to office hours and lame jokes in class that just waste time. He gives practice midterms from previous quarters that are easier and make it seem like they were in for a treat. If you don't memorize the entire section you will fail. SAVE YOURSELF.
Majority of your grade relies on exams. He is really passionate about teaching math which shows in his lectures. His exams are tough tho. He does give out practice exams but you really need to be able to apply the concepts. Not too much homework. Quizzes are free points. His class is harder than other calc clSsss but will prepare you for Math 1B.
If you take him be prepared to study your butt off for a good grade.
Lectures are EXTREMELY fast paced. You really have to spend a ton of time outside of class trying to understand the concept if you are new to Calculus. Tests make up a majority of your grade. I wouldn't recommend him if you want to keep a high GPA. (IF you are good at calc/ a math major, he's okay)
take this class if you want to DESTROY your GPAa
Overall grade is based solely on tests and final. Best go to office hours and recap the entire lecture. Oh but if you're taking calc for the first time and still an overall good math student, ya better drop cuz ya aint about to learn anything and just downright fail. You dont need a math teacher this hard just a good enough teacher to explainnn.
Grade is heavily dependent on the exams. To do well on them, do the homework, solve the sample exams, and take time reviewing the proofs beforehand. There are extra credit questions on the exams which can really boost your grade.
He makes all midterms a direct requirement to pass in which you can never attempt since they are far too complicated. He never drops any lowest scores, and he never grades any homework on separate category. Don't take him, or you will face disaster. His tests are extremely dangerous and trouble!
This was my first time taking calc, and Ive taken classes at De Anza and at a UC before and this was by far the most difficult class Ive ever experienced. Yes he is a good teacher, and I might be bad at math, but his lectures move extremely quick and he expects you to learn concepts just as quick as he already knows em. Test are very hard, beware
his class is amazing, homework after every class, but practice for quiz and exams. 3 quiz,3 midterms and 1 final. go to every class, take notes, do homework, study before test then will be able to get a good grade.
Hardest/most rewarding math class to date. Very detail oriented and careful to explain every small detail of every problem and concept. Will clarify as many times as are needed. Lots of HW and tests are a challenge, but if you STUDY and go to office hours, you will get a good grade. He is a kind person and can be very helpful if you make an effort.
I took him for discrete and recently transferred. I am taking another variation of discrete here which made me realize that Professor Howard is leagues above a typical professor. Examples are crystal clear, HW is reasonable, tests are very, very fair. Wish all my profs can be like him :(
He is really bad teacher, don't take his class. I study very hard and still didn't pass the class. He grading is base on himself. You can't compare the answer with other classmate and ask him the credit back even though your answer is the same. Can'r argue with the answer too because he won't listen and just subtract you points. Anyway, very bad ..
great guy but this was my first calc class and it was extremely hard for me. barely passed with a C.
He's a very entertaining professor, lectures are pretty good, is relatively hard but a great choice. I took him for my first ever college class, and it was a great choice
