This class is fun and you get hands on training. Mr. Aranda is helpful & knows his stuff. He is also kind and respectful and very humble. I strongly recommend taking his classes. He will make you study hard, but it definitely pays Daily quizzes and set in stone midterm dates. Rigorous class however very rewarding. Tests are a bit tough inclusive
Xavier is nice, easy going, & very helpful. Tests are very fair, partial credit on some answers, & daily quizzes. He pays attention to all the details in the lab. He knows a lot in the field of forensics. The class lacks organization a bit, and his TA adds to the confusion. But I certainly recommend taking his classes. Attendance is key to succeed
Not only was he never prepared, he changed the syllabus so many times. I received a B and I did not do anything and I never went to class. I've heard hes awesome at Forensics but I took him for A&P and he had no idea what was going on. Best advice I can give you is read the book and do the online homework. Exams are online, do not go to class.
He is not a tough grader and not hard too. But his classes is kind of disorganized. Lab is super important. Because lab is extremely hard and it covers 35%, you can cover the lab grade with this one. Exam is online so don't have to stress that much. Overall I like the class and recommend...
Professor Aranda was VERY disorganized. He changed the syllabus almost weekly, will only spend 20-30 minutes on the 700 muscles in the body, and frequently uses the phase "I don't care about that" instead of explaining essential materials. Tests are really easy because they were online. Pay attention in lab since it's 35% of your final grade.
Lectures are thorough, precise, and engaging. write everything he writes and says to prepare for exams. If something is unclear ASK, he will answer any questions until the concept is understood. He's an easy going Prof. BUT grades reflect your effort and attention to detail. Professionally taught and enjoyable course I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, trust me.
He is not a good A&P professor at all! His lectures are full of "know this", "know that". He doesn't teach! He takes things personal, even though most of the issues are his fault. Do not take this professor if you are planning to have a stressful semester full of confusion and dealing with a butthurt professor. DO NOT TAKE!!
Reads off of the powerpoint and posts powerpoints...
Xavier was a little tough when it came to his exams but he normalizes tests to help people out. He's there for you & responds quickly to his emails. Class requires alot of reading, attendance is a must because he does do quizzes randomly.
Aranda is a great professor! Choose him over Henry!!!!!! Anatomy is a hard subject so there is no going around that. The thing that I loved about him was that there was homework and quizzes that factored into your grade instead of just tests like the other professors. I would highly suggest taking him over any other professor.
Does not teach at all, he reads off of PPT. Homeworks and quizzes are timed but online. Test are not as tough as Henry but need to study on your own for it. Would not take again. I showed up for class for the first 2 weeks and could not handle anymore after.
Reads off powerpoints but tests are easy! Passes every single one of them with a 75 or higher. The quizzes taken on Wiley are some of the questions on the exams. Also homework grades are included in the exam grades so its a easy booster.
I recently got a position in the Medical Field, and because of Professor Aranda, I have so much knowledge on various conditions and structures of the body that have overlapped with my job. He is a very nice and an extremely helpful instructor. IT IS NOT EASY, but if you take it seriously you will be amazed at what you learn.I would take him again
I took him knowing how tough this course was going to be, but I couldn't stand him in lecture anymore. Only reads off of ppt so i stopped going to class after the first exam. Overall you can self study the materials and still get good grades on the exams. READ THE TEXTBOOK, do the online quizzes/hw as some of the questions appear on the exams!
Aranda is great. I knew the class would be hard, but I had no idea that it was going to be the hardest class I'd take in my 3 years of college. You must read the book and do the Orion assignments to be successful in the class (at least 300 questions each chapter). It's a lot and very overwhelming, but the material itself is interesting.
MOST AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! Seriously! His tests are extremely fair (as long as you study well). As long as you show up, he sets you up for success. He is very understanding with any life issues that one may have.. as long as you keep in communication with him. He is hands down my most favorite professor I've had at UTA. Take him if you can.
Looking at his old reviews I thought he would be good but I wouldn't choose him. Textbook and homework website changed this semester so maybe that's why. 5 chapters a test with about almost 400 slides per chapter. He does tell you what's important, aka everything. Didn't help really, you learn from yourself.
Tough grader!
Mr. Aranda is the most amazing professor ever. His tests are very fair and he makes sure that you understand the material well. If you have any questions, he will respond to your email as soon as he can. Also, quizzes are fair if you pay attention in class. I definitely recommend taking his class!
He is a VERY caring professor and tries to get to know his students even though there are 200+ per lecture. For the lectures he just reads off of the power points but the reason everyone goes to class is because he will say stuff like "I like this", "This will be on the final" or "Memorize this word for word" etc. His tests are 100 questions timed.
Aranda is great. He really cares about the success of his students and goes out of his way to accommodate for anything a student doesn't understand. The exams are hard, but this is a weed out class so keep that in mind. Also he introduced one of his TAs as a private tutor (Adam). He was super helpful and knowledgeable of the material.
Aranda is a great PERSON. He is nice and really makes an effort to get to know his students.... I am disappointed on how he teaches. He reads straight off the PPT, and says everything will be on the test. There's about 400 slides for each test. I've heard a lot of students going to Henry's lectures to understand the material better.
Aranda is a good person & tries to get to know his students. Anatomy is already a hard subject as it is but he doesn't make it any easier. Each chapter has parts A-D and each one contains around 80 slides. It's impossible to remember every single sentence/detail of the PowerPoints (which he just reads off from). He doesn't tell you what to focus on
What do you guys expect from A&P? This isn't high school, so pre-read before class and attend his lectures. He provided a way for his students to earn extra points from quizzes online, which are straight from the book. Not timed. Don't be sour that you did not EARN a good grade in the class, instead be sour that you did not read and take notes.
Aranda tried his best to help students out. He is a great professor! A&P is a hard class so if you didn't do well it's because you didn't study! I recommend for any UTA student to take Aranda. He cares about his students a lot. It was a very tough class but I was able to succeed thanks to him!
Prof Aranda is a great professor. If you apply yourself to this course and dedicate a little bit of time a day to study then you will succeed. Attendance is not mandatory, but this is where you'll hear about his likes & dislikes on tests! You don't have to worry about class being boring because he keeps you entertained the whole time with his jokes
It is very well possible to get an A in this class but you will need to put in a lot of hours studying. He has powerpoints that he just reads off but explains them more in depth. Going to class isn't mandatory but i would recommend it. To get an A in this class really know the ppts and do your best in Lab(he curves grade and get all the quiz points
Professor Aranda is actually quite a good professor, but doesn't have the best lectures. Very fair test and quiz questions. He is very helpful outside of class, by email and in his office hours. I self taught a lot of the class, but I also know people who went to lecture and did well too. Definitely take him over Henry.
Greatest Professor ever! Forensic Lab was fun. I've learned a lot in this lab. Wish they offer more courses with him in it. You can use your notes in quizzes and tests are take-home. Multiple options and free response, but do-able. Just make sure you have all your notes ready to use! You won't regret it. It's an advanced bio elective. Easy A.
Great professor, very helpful. Attendance is mandatory, a ton of content but if you go to class material gets narrowed down significantly. A difficult course but very realistic if you study and show up to class. An A will not come easy.
Aranda is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! If you want to learn, take someone else because aranda's inept. You seriously will not learn anything. Worst "professor" ever. He needs to be fired. I have no idea how he still has a job. Pay $5k for the semester to be read PPTs & he can't even read well. Don't expect a test review. Very boring. Save your time and $.
Professor Aranda, is awesome! Caution though: read!! Do not memorize LEARN IT. It bites you again later. However, he is always available for extra help. Literally. Hes very helpful outside of class. His exams are scary! But if you learned it dont worry. Review ! Review ! Review! It comes back!! He does throw a few jokes to loosen the class.
Heavy class and exams can be tricky. But he tells you what to focus on. He can remember you if you come to class. Prepares you for future classes.
I took Aranda last year for A&P I and they took my review off so here I am again to complain about this prof. He isn't passionate about what he does. He lectures in a dark room. Overall, lectures are a sad experience. I would rather eat a whole jar of toe nails than take this prof again.
Although the class was very test and quiz heavy (almost every class) and the questions very tricky- Aranda himself is a kind person and very flexible to accommodate students.
Oe thing for sure about Aranda is that he reads of his slides. Sometimes, just sometimes does ha add a little something else to explain it more thoroughly. He tells you what will be on the exam but 50% of the time not on there. Do the homework and remember it because it will be on the test.
Aranda is a caring professor. If there is something you don't understand, go talk to him. Read the chapters before lecture, do all the quizzes, and study your quizzes for the tests. Pay attention in class. This material is boring, but if you go to class you will do well.
Aranda is a tough professor, but why would you want to take a class that doesnt challenge you? His tests are made to prepare you for future classes that will be just as challenging. His door is always open for students who have questions or needs help. If youre not willing to work and put in the time you might as well just drop out now.
I would not recommend this professor to anybody! I have had to learn all of the material on my own. He will spend up to 3 lecture days on one chapter and then rush through the rest 2 days before the exam, will not upload powerpoints on time, lecture exams are 100 questions long giving you barely any time to answer. Overall awful experience. 0/10
This class was the hardest class I have ever taken during my college career. I am so mad that I stopped going to class after the first week of school. I decided to learn the materials myself and I am so glad I did because it takes him 2 weeks to go over one chapter while lab is 3 chapters ahead. If you want to take him, be ready, girl.
This class is generally hard. But if you do not understand anything, just go to his office. Out of all of the professors I had, he is the most understanding. Just communicate with him and keep up with the quizzes. Communication is key with him! Yes, his lectures are long. But what class isn't? ( I took him last semester)
Mixed feelings about Aranda. First of all, it takes him 3 lectures to cover one chapter. His exams were each 100 questions long. I scheduled an office appointment with him once, and he was a no-show. What he says will be on the exam is never on the exams. On the bright side, if you reach out to him and show up to class, he will give you leniency.
The Science Program at UTA is a joke. All the professors are terrible including this one. His exams are freakin 100 questions. This dude is insane. However he is very lenient with his grading. Show up to class, do all quizzes, keep in touch and he will for sure help you out. His exams are hard and detailed so get ready to study. He curves a lot
Great guy, very nice, good character. Out of all the BIOL 2457-2458 professors, this one is the best; I can guarantee you that. Human Anatomy & Physiology is a difficult class because it's difficult subject matter. Aranda really cares about his students if you care about the class and form a professional relationship with him.
very friendly, kind prof. his exams are difficult but nothing unexpected from what he covers in class. always available outside of class and will even work with your schedule if you can't make his office hours. if you're struggling definitely talk to him he goes out of his way to help his students.
Methods Lab: Laid back prof. Will help students. Experienced in field. He has a "method to his madness". It will drive you crazy BUT it actually works out very well. ATTEND the LAB! I'm succeeding exponentially in grad school by applying the techniques he provided in this class. Highly recommended for learning practical real-world work skills.
Aranda is a really cool guy, but he's not the best professor & has horrible time management. He would spend 3 classes over a chapter & once the test starts to approach he'll only spend 1 class over another ch.- once he spent 5 min on a ch. the class before a test. He kinda tells you what will be on the test but study the powerpoint for tests.
Overall a solid professor teaching a relatively heavy course. Exams are very reasonable as far as questions go and lab is not too hard if you attend every week. To get an A in this class, you must go beyond simply attending class. That being said, you will learn a lot from this course and professor. Recommend!
Real chill teacher..... He has difficult tests but as long as you come to class or have meetings in his office, he will work with you. He gave my class many opportunities to get a good grade.
Honestly Aranda is the best professor for A&P. I took him for both A&P 1 +2 and got an A in both. my biggest advice: come to class, if he says something write it down, whether about himself or the lecture because you will see it on a test. Study everything from the powerpoints and go to office hours. If he knows you then he is lenient.
I had Professor Aranda for A&P II at UTA. In my 4 semesters so far at UTA, he was/is EASILY my favorite professor so far. I had some issues outside of school which really affected my grades and as long as I was open with him he was incredibly willing to work with me and make sure I was in the best position to succeed. The ideal professor.
This is a very difficult course but Aranda is an amazing professor. He has a very dry sense of humor and likes to keep things light. I would definitely take him again. He is also great during office hours and will even help boost your grade a little at the end if you are close to the next letter grade. Best A&P teacher at UTA!
Out of all the Anatomy professors at UTA, Aranda is the best. He gives plenty of time for online quizzes and is a great lecturer. I would definitely recommend taking him for Anatomy for Nursing.
For A&P 1, he is by far the best teacher of all the options given at UTA The relations he makes about material to his life or to other things immensely puts the material into perspective. The class is difficult regardless, but he as a teacher makes it easier.
His class has a very heavy work load, but that is to be expected considering the subject. He is a great professor and tries to help everyone's grades out as much as possible. Loved this class.
I ended with an A in the course and was pleasantly surprised. He is an amazing professor and is really invested in the success of his students. Tough course, but Aranda is good at what he does.
Aranda wasn't terrible but he could have been better. He's not a very timely person either ( doesn't upload powerpoints until the day before/ day of class. Uploads all the quizzes at once and makes them due at different times of one day) Make sure to check Pearson often for the quizzes. Tests are mostly 3rd order question. Nice guy though.
This is a difficult course but Aranda is a great professor. Planning on taking again for A&P II. He will bump grades as well.
Didnt know what to expect coming into class but he is good and I really liked the way he taught. He is a very nice man.
Professor Aranda was very blunt and realistic when it came to describing the progress of the course, but his powerpoints were very clear. Lectures are very important because he emphasizes what's important and what will be on the test. Sometimes he posts powerpoints late but he was definitely my favorite teacher. 10/10 reccommend.
Great professor. He will try to help you out and prepare you for the tests. Difficult class but not out of the ordinary considering the subject
This is a very vigorous course, but Aranda is the best of the best! Three major exams and one final. Lecture worth 65% and Lab worth 35%. Focus more on lecture. Lab almost always brings grades down, but lecture is worth more.
Super hard course but really interesting. He is really good at emphasizing important facts and info for the test. Pay attention and take notes.
Nursing Students: This is a tough course but it is worth it. The lectures are great and the tests really help prepare you. Beware of lab practicals though. Lab is worth 35% but it drags down grades when students do not study for practical. Great class and teacher!
Great Professor if you really want to learn anatomy and be prepared for Nursing School. His summer courses are brief, but he tried to help me out a lot. He's really funny and he is knowledgeable on the subject. I would 10/10 recommend.
Took him for lab and hes a sweet guy and a good teacher in general but the labs are awful. Its all online so there no actually guided lab manual to tell you everything you need know. 10 timed 10 minutes quizzes which bring down your grade hard practicals. I got a B in lab but I had to work very hard for it. Probably the worst lab Ive ever taken
Xavier Aranda is my favorite professor at UTA. I took A & P 2 this summer for a 5 week course and I was convinced I would do poorly. But if you work hard to study for the exams and show up to class always working to improve, he will bend over backward to help you get the grade you are wanting/needing.
He is an amazing & super intelligent professor, but just beware that he doesn't record his lectures like other professors so it's necessary to show up for every lecture if you want to do well on exams (he tells you in class about exam questions).
He is an amazing lab instructor because he tells you so much about what EXACTLY to focus on for the practical and he actually teaches during lab with his own powerpoints (unlike other lab instructors who just sit there and let you learn on your own).
I took Aranda for both A&P 1 and 2, and honestly, he is the BEST. His test is straight forward & he provides study guides. He also tells you what he will test over & what he does not test at all on. If you take him for Also get to know him, he is a very caring professor.
He goes over things in the lecture that aren't important for the test and the way he answers questions makes you more confused in class. We hear a lot of "if you don't understand change your major" or "you're in trouble" Take Henry instead. Unlike aranda he has TA's who can tutor you and he helps you during one on one time instead of ridiculing you
He is the best as a Lab instructor and Lecture professor. I would definitely take him he works with you and he really cares about his students. I had him for anatomy 1 as a professor and anatomy II as a lab instuctor there is nobody better. HE IS THE BEST TAKE HIM!!! :):) :):):):):):):):):):):)
Im so glad I took him! I was so close to taking this class @ Tcc since I heard it was hard but i made an A! I learned so much!!! Thanks to him he helped out with whats on the test, provided reviews & quizzes. Going to class is key! He will tell you whats directly on the test. He recognizes faces so dont skip! He will know!!! Fav professor ever
Go to class. I cant stress this enough. He literally tells u what is on his test. He also rewards you on the final with fun facts he mentions it class for easy points. He spends a lot of time on heavy material because it will definitely be on the test. Hes a good teacher and you will learn a lot from him for nursing school. Go to class
If you go to lecture, then he tells you what will be on the test. He also says random facts during lecture which might come up on the tests, so definitely go to class. He's very caring and understanding, he wants everyone to succeed. Don't be scared to go to his office hours because he will really help!
All I can say is he is AMAZING. I took him for A&P 1 and A&P 2 and learned so much. I wish he could teach all my classes. He really cares about his students. Go to his office hours if you need help!
Aranda was a super cool professor, hell remember you by name if you make an impression. If you dont attend lectures, you wont do well. I will say although I loved him, his lectures were super fast-paced and he often ran out of time. But hes very considerate towards his students and helps a lot during office hours.
The professor is lecture heavy and does not always explain everything as thoroughly as students need to understand. However, he does tell you all the information you need to know in lectures. Reading the textbook will help you understand things you did not understand in class. In class heavily mark information he points out!
Aranda's lecture powerpoints consisted of over 100 slides but it was all useful information for future classes like patho. It was helpful when he told us specifically which slides to concentrate on and the mini-review lectures before a test. He sometimes gets behind and then ends up rushing the last few lectures before the test.
I had Aranda for 4 separate classes and he is by far the best professor I have ever had. Hes very knowledgeable in his classes and is always willing to work with students. If you attend classes and participate when needed he can help you in any way he can. Hes excellent and I recommend him 10 times out of 10.
I've taken Aranda for both A&P I and A&P II and he is honestly the best professor for this course. The course is very content heavy and is pretty difficult but he makes it a little more manageable. He is understanding especially during this pandemic so if you attend class and listen, you'll be good.
I took Dr. Fredericks course this past summer and she was phenomenal. I enrolled into her AP2 class this fall and for some reason Mr. Aranda ended up being the professor. I definitely dont recommend.
Any A&P class you take is going to be a ton of work and time. That is expected. Professor Aranda wants you to do well and gives a clear path to success for those who are willing to put in the effort.
He is pro student. If you don't understand something, he will help you understand. He cares about his students and wants them pass. And I would most definitely take his class again.
Professor Aranda is a dedicated lecturer that deeply cares for his students. He encourages teamwork by having team-based learning assignments. He is always open to questions and is flexible with his office hours. He is very approachable and is willing to help when he can, regarding the course and otherwise. I definitely recommend Professor Aranda.
(A&P 2) Aranda read straight off the slides and didn't explain anything. He prerecorded lectures, so it was difficult to ask questions unless you wrote them all down and attended office hours. He doesn't put exams in the canvas calendar and enters the quizzes at different times (purposely). Overall, that wasn't the issue. His lack of teaching was.
I took Aranda for A&PI & A&P2 I got an A and B. Anatomy is a very difficult class but he does his best in helping us through it. He provides test reviews for every exam and makes it clear what you need to know. In A&P I he always made sure to explain how the systems we were learning worked together with those in A&P II. Favorite Professor!!
Aranda is the best A&P professor at UTA. Take him if you have the chance. He gives 5 tests and quizzes over each chapter. He had office each lecture period instead of giving a lecture and they were very helpful.
He makes it so you have a very difficult time calculating your grade till you've finished all exams, meaning it is too late to change anything. He gives reviews that are super vague and do not cover all material on the exams. Bad at teaching online at the least but I would suggest not taking him even if you get to choose in-person classes.
I had Aranda for A&P2 and everything was online, so you really had to put in the effort to teach yourself. Has long lecture videos and power points. Highly recommend going to office hours! Hell explain some of the concepts in greater detail. This class is difficult, but he is very understanding and you can tell he cares about his students!
Aranda is sweet and very understanding. However, this class is kind of difficult. He just reads off the PowerPoint, you have to basically teach yourself everything. Most of the exam questions come from the Mastering A&P program.
Had him Freshman year during Covid, his class was horrible. he never responds to emails,I had to contact the head of the department every test so he could post his lectures. it was 2 days before a test and we would only have 1 chapter of the information we would need to take it. test were moved because he never gave us the information. Dont take him
Aranda is the best choice for an a&p professor at UTA but the class is still very difficult and he does not curve exams by very much. He is fairly helpful but the class dynamic was weird due to covid. I still plan to take aranda again for a&p2 since he is the best option out of the professors.
I'm not gonna lie, this class was very difficult. But this professor did make it better especially in its online format. He will give you tips and tricks during office hours so make sure to attend those! Overall, he is a very caring and understanding professor and will try his hardest to help you out! Definitely recommend him!
Mr Aranda is truly the sweetest ever. Yes, this class is challenging and you need to put in your part. However, as long as you study you will make it through. His reviews are very broad but he does explain everything during lecture hours. Therefore, attend them for extra info. Overall, not bad at all!
Be prepared to self study since lectures were a bit lacking, but Aranda is the best professor for A&P. He is very understanding and gives lots of opportunities to make an A (quizzes, extra points, etc.). Tests were straightforward and come from topics on the review.
Aranda is the best professor for Anatomy at UTA, he really cares about his students and will make sure they have what they need to succeed. He is very understanding and tests from the textbook which is a lot easier to follow than other professors. He encourages students to ask questions and provides plenty of resources to help them study.
I took Aranda for forensic Biology and I thought the class was really interesting. He has a lot of experience in the field and is obviously very knowledgeable about forensics. The class was relatively easy and the exams were open notes.
Total of 6 tests & a lot of hw that always get posted last minute before it's due. He promises reviews so we would not "over study" but always either post it 1 day before the test or doesn't at all. He promises so much yet delivers 20% of what he says. It's like waiting for your dad to come back after he divorced your mother...and nothing!
Makes you buy Wiley but was barely utilized. Prioritized fishing on the weekends > posting reviews he promised his students multiple times. Covid already made me depressed but this class honestly made my mental health deteriorate 2x. Lab did not match up with lecture. Lecture was dry as a desert (save gas by not going to lecture & read the book).
Would've been better if he didn't breeze through PowerPoints, answered emails faster, posted exam reviews on time if he said he was going to post them, posted recorded lectures and been more clear with students from the starting about what's required.
Made us learn 5+ new chapters by ourselves for the final + 20 chapters from previous tests. Said he would have a review on 5/4 then changed it to 5/6 which later became the night before the final at around 11pm. Did this on multiple occasions so we don't really expect a lot from him. Is not accessible outside of class, so ask him before you leave!
Test were pretty tough, but as far as lecture everything on the test is gone over in lecture. Prepares us very good for clinical, Nclex, patho. Dynamic study modules help a lot. Its clear that he is vary caring and wants his students to succeed. If youre confused he will go back and explain it better. Gives good tips and helps for practical
I'll be real, this class is hard. Probably the hardest class I've taken. His reviews aren't really relevant to the tests. For the love of God study Pearson questions. He's a genuine person, he wants you to succeed. However, you can't escape the rigor of this course. He's nice and I appreciate the jokes to try to get through lectures.
GREAT professor. The course is already hard, but he was the one professor that taught me how to actually study effectively. Tests have a lot of questions, but they are straightforward if you study everything correctly. He truly cares for his students and does everything he can to help us out. I did much better in A&P2 because of this professor!
Took Human Anatomy. Cares about his students. Exams are straightforward from lecture and from textbook. Textbook wasn't really necessary but online code needed to access quizzes/assignments. Lots of buffer (quizzes/assignments) to buffer the 5 exams throughout the semester + final. Lab is 40% of grade. Really enjoyed this class!
He gave our class a hard time by being so behind schedule, which forced me to learn a majority of the chapters by myself on my own time. Communicating with the professor was frustrating as he would respond sarcastically and would not provide straightforward responses. Other classmates I've talked to had complaints as well. An arrogant professor.
I really enjoyed his class, we had a lot of very long labs, however, they were very fun and enjoyable. This professor actually cares about his students and has a lot of knowledge about forensics. His lectures were also very interesting and easy to follow.
Take him he is one of the best professors I have taken at UTA. His lecture part is easy too if you prepare for it. 6 exams total with a final. He will tell you what is gonna be on there. TAKE him for LAB if you can you will learn a lot! He is fun, makes a friendly connection with all his students which makes class much easier.
This guy is very down to earth and will level with you. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but if you put in the work and he sees you in class he takes that into account regarding grading. I wish he also taught physiology. Tests really based on slides and class material, but the textbook can also carry you if you didn't want to attend. One of my fav prof
Professor Aranda is the best professor for your anatomy classes at UTA. He seriously cares about his students and takes the time to understand how our brains work. The class is hard itself, so you cannot escape the rigor, but he makes the class more enjoyable and easier to manage. PLEASE take him if you can you will not regret it
His lectures are a WASTE OF TIME. The only reason I went was for his in class assignments. He gets off topic and he doesn't even make the slides so he just reads off of them. When there are formatting issues and the information isn't on the slide he doesn't even know what to say. Other professors allow you to take quizzes twice, but he doesnt.
A&P is a hard course, but Aranda makes it harder by being behind on lectures and being disorganized. He would post our reviews just days before the exams, leaving us no time to study. He would mainly read off of the slides making you have to self-study. Besides that, he is more willing to help you compared to others if you attend office hours.
A&P is already a very difficult class, but I think self-studying is the way to go as the lectures were very... lacking. Go for the participation points. Quizzes tended to be harder than the tests and the practicals for the class are not bad as people say it is. Overall, just study a couple hours a day and have a study group and it is not that bad.
I feel like every A&P class is going to require you to teach yourself outside of class so I can't really blame him for not going too much in depth during lecture. Definitely go to class for participation points, and meet with him during his office hours so that he knows your goals and works towards them with you.
I had him for anatomy2 over the summer so the class was accelerated he's a very understanding attendance isnot mandatory but if enough people continue not to show up for class he does extra credit in class I recommend going to class he tell u whats going to be on his exams&labpractical he replaces ur lowest test grade with wtv u got on the final
Professor Aranda can be hit or miss, but if you stay engaged and use resources like the textbook and unstuck AI, you can do well. Tests cover lecture slides, so attending class is key. Overall, a decent biology course.
Didn't take BIO, had him for CRCJ 3370. Hit or miss. He cusses a lot, talks fast so don't fall behind on notes, only has 4 exams, he has good memory so make sure you show up to class otherwise he'll call you out in the middle of class embarrassing you in front of the other students because you didn't show up (at least that's what he did with me).
He's a great professor! It's obvious that he cares about your success in his class and offers opportunities to boost your grade. He tells you what will be on the exam in lecture. Be ready to study a LOT outside of class. Anatomy is a lot of content, but it's not impossible. Attend class to earn brownie points with Aranda. His exams aren't too bad
The material is challenging (especially the lab portion), but if you put in effort and attend lectures consistently, you can pass with an A. He tells you what will be on his lecture exams, and sometimes, lab practicals as well. His study guides are very helpful for the exams, too. He also keeps lectures very entertaining with his stories!
I usually don't leave reviews, but I have to for Professor Aranda. He's one of the easiest and most fair professors. Study the slides, do the homework, and you'll be prepared. Just make sure you understand the material instead of only memorizing. Best of luck!
Not BIOL 2457 but, I took his CRCJ 33709 class. Professor Aranda does not care about your time, if he shows up late to exam day he makes you test with whatever time is left. I had him show up 15 minutes late, the class is 50 minutes long and is at 9am, 35 minutes to test was horrible and stress inducing. Somehow my testing group managed to finish.
he's chill, but he posts PPT & study guides in an untimely manner and often times they don't match what he says will be on the exam in lectures. he also never posts videos of lectures he didn't finish in class, even though he says he will. he gives back points on exams. he drops the lowest exam grade and replaces the 2nd lowest one with the final.
he never finishes lectures and then says hes gonna post videos going over content- that never happens. homeworks and reviews get posted super late. hes a chill guy but the class is so unorganized.
Professor Aranda is a great guy and this was his 1st time teaching this class, but he was constantly late giving us quizzes and study guides that he promised would come on time over and over again. He would also say he would record lectures for us, but they never came. Again, great and funny guy but he was very disorganized this semester.
Awful. For a subject that should be straight forward, he makes it difficult. Lab is worth almost half your grade. Never finishes ppts in class, says he'll post videos going over them- spolier: he never does, HW assignments are posted the night before they're due, the list goes on. There are 5 (yes 5) midterm exams and 3 practicals. Good luck!
Extremely disorganized. Exam reviews posted a day or two before the exam, same with the homework assignments. Never made videos over missed powerpoints in class even though he said he would. Still required to know the information for the exams and finals. 5 exams and a final plus 3 lab practicals. Nice person, but the course was disorganized.
Don't even bother going to class. He will just point at the powerpoint slides and read them. That's it.
