2 test, 1 LONG project , easy 3.5-4.
this was the most boring class i've ever had.. the man speaks with a monotone.. most people slept through the class
No Comments
Very easy, got 4.0 without even buying the book.
The guy is very nice. Very easy class.
Go to class, make sure you do the work. Will give credit for just attemping. Great Teacher!
he was awsome, very helpful
Not only is he extremely sexy, but he grades easy too. ;)
I had this man Freshman yr. Class was boring as Hell. But I would go to lab and he virtually would come to my computer when I needed help and actually do my work and I got a 3.6. Awesome Prof!
Nice guy, you will get a good grade(3.5+)I took Tues/Thurs classes and skipped every thursday's lecutre b/c you really dont need to go. 5 projects but all are easy, just go to the lab the week before its due and hell help you do it.
Easy. He shows you step by step how to do all projects. Gives PowerPoint slides to take home to study for Mid-Term and Final. All questions come from the slides.
He's great. explains well, clear. attend the classes &have the book &your notes everytime in class. cool projects,U get a lot of help. if Uhave a problem & email to him, he responds U very promptly. take his class with no worry, just...have a strong coffe
he is hard to understand at first. but i would recommend him. he is more than willing to help you if you approach him. he is also very funny if you spend time talking to him.
Slightly difficult to understand, and definatly a language barrier, however if you attend class and listen, there shouldn't be a problem. exam's are open note and book which can be printed off the internet.
This guy was awesome. I had him for MIS200 and MIS316 and he's really easy and super nice. If something was due and you didn't turn it in, you could give an excuse and you could turn it in later.
older version of William Hung, veryyy nice guy, if you go to the labs, he'll show you how to do EVERYTHING step by step, dont buy the book its a waste of money, powerpoint notes are key, i got a 3.8 and I dont know anything about computers
This guy is AWESOME!!! great teacher, take notes on how to do the assignments in class, and you'll get an A. Ask him anything, and he'll pretty much answer it for you!! TAKE MR. DENG! he's great!
Easiest class ever. Sometimes you really couldn't understand his lectures, but if you go to the scheduled lab days and ask questions about the projects, he does it for you. oh yea, open book/open note midterm and final!
I love the way that Prof. Deng spelled things out and really showed us how to use the applications in MS Word. His notes and lectures were extremely helpful. Do NOT purchase the book for this class, I got a 4.0 w/o it.
Did not buy the book and received a 4.0. Didn't understand lectures sometimes but showed up at all the lab sessions and he helped me out every time. What a great guy.
This could quite possibly be the most boring class I have... he talks about one form you have to fill out for 2 hours, and the work is so tedious, and it must be exact, or else. The exams are straight off the quizes, so study those, the quizes are open notes, the project was way too point less.
You have to be the laziest student in the world not to like Deng. He is actually the most helpful professor I ever came in contact with at Oakland, and I have been there for undergrad. and grad. He does not just hepl in class, he also takes personal time to help you in anything computer related that
The best MIS professor Oakland has. I wish if he could teache more MIS classes, i would have taking them all with him
Easy 4.0. Bring your laptop to class and he shows you how to do the projects step by step. Bring his presentations to test and you will get 90% or better. If you know how to use MS Office take this class in the spring or summer, else you will be bored. Great Teacher
He is hard to understand, speaks broken english. He will practically do your work for you if you don't understand and ask him how to do something. The class is pretty easy.
This professor is so easy and when you don't understand something he will help you.
This guy is a great professor. He goes over each project step by step, so bring your laptop to class. If you ever need help just ask, he will make time to help you. He lets you print off his powerpoint presentations and use them on tests/exams. Everything is open book/notes.
Easy class! I ended up with a 3.4 and didn't study for the midterm or final. Deng was very boring. Most of the class zoned off and did their own thing while the lab. Nice guy.. but subjectis boring as he$!!
Good guy and very easy. Everything is open book, open notes. If you go to the labs he does the work for you.
Very good teacher, always willing to help.
Awesome professor, very friendly and always looking to help you out. This class is very helpful since it shows you how to use all the microsoft programs...all tests are open notes, and he shows you how to do the projects step by step. Best MIS professor at OU!
Unbelievably easy class with the nicest professor ever! He is a very sweet man, extremely helpful and really cares about his students. Tests are all open notes/open book and he does all of the projects step by step on the projector so bring your laptop to class and you'll never have homework. Super super easy!!!
He was very clear and was very good about getting assignments back. He posted everything on WebCt, which was nice. All the projects are submitted on WebCt. He was very helpful and you learn a lot from him. Great Teacher!
as far as the school of business goes, proff. deng is about as good as they get, expect a good grade, with a little work and group participation, one of the best classes you can take
Professor Deng is awesome! He is very helpful and willing to provide personal assistance when needed. He posts the notes on his website. Just remember to write down whatever he writes on the board and you'll do great. He is one of the best at OU!!!
Deng is awesome. All the information is straight from the book but if you ask any question, he will answer it. Always in a pleasant mood & very fun!
Deng is an amazing professor and one of the nicest people I've ever met. He's an adorable little Asian man who helps you whenever asked and will work with you until you understand it. Most assignments are completed in class and it's very hard to fail this class. Deng is awesome!
Also had him for 516. Nice guy, but 514 could benefit from a thorough overhaul of the material that is taught. His lectures are long, dry and cover material most MSITM students should already be familiar with. The semester project was a pointless waste of time spent creating diagrams that any undergraduate senior should know.
This material for this class is complex and Mr. Deng does everything possible to break it down and make it clear he doesn?t mind answering questions and helping you one on one there is a big project (he does it in class with you) 2 test and other ?busy work? all test are open note and open book even the final exam TAKE HIM FOR A EASY A!!!
The nicest, friendliest, most helpful professor I have had at OU. This class can be challenging, but he helps you so much and really cares to help you understand the material. Open Note, Open Book midterm/final. 1 big project he goes above and beyond to help you with. If you can, TAKE DENG!
Professor Deng is the best, easy grader, interesting lectures, he's very helpful and always there for students. I would call his office for an appointment and leave a message and he would return my phone call in less than an hour. his exam are open book open notes, so there is no reason not to take his class.
Great prof. He will sit with you and go through the material until you understand. His lectures are somewhat boring, but all his tests are open book. Very helpful and always upbeat. 2 exams and a class project make up your grade.
Best professor for MIS. Willing to help students during his office hours. Great Professor, highly recommended!
Awful techer, I'm doing fine in the class but he has given us an impossible individual project and his lectures are so boring! None of the other MIS teachers give this project, just him. The midterm and final are open book, but the book changed and you cant find any of the answers like I could in the beginning of the semester. Trust me avoid.
honestly nicest professor at OU, he is very willing to help and very fair. A little hesitant to take him at first then learned to love him as the class went on! Doing well in his class just stay on top of everything and ask questions!
Very good professor and a very nice individual. He will stay wayyy late and even come in far outside of his usual hours to help students who need additional instruction. The final project is tough, but he goes far out of his way to make sure he is available to help. The final exam is open book and open notes, so that certainly helped! Great Prof
He is the nicest teacher I have ever had. You should definitely take his class. Exams were open book and note and most of the questions are right from the book. He gives a project that seems hard but if you go to class every day and follow along it is easy. He does most of the project for you & if you go to office hrs he'll go through everything.
The topic of the class is very interesting and the professor is really nice, but I am not a fan of his teaching style. Basically the class consists of him reading the textbook publisher's presentation slides WORD for WORD. We all based the third grade and know how to read, so I expect my professor to explain and teach to me and not read.
Very nice man, but if you want someone with a PhD to read to you word for word, then take this class! My opinion is a professor should be value added, not so the case here. We flew through the book, I'm talking 2-3 chapters a class, just because that was how fast he could read. He is a very smart man, but his teaching isn't the greatest.
He is a GREAT guy. Willing to help, very intelligent, funny.. But his teaching style is a little off. He reads directly from the slides which can make classes pretty boring. But good overall.
The nicest guy I've ever met. He's always willing to help, always smiling. He'll help you out with your website (25% of the grade) and both exams are open everything (the book is online so just download the PDFs and F3 all the questions). Don't think twice, take this guy.
Great teacher, took him for summer MIS300. class get boring but he tries. the project seems confusing but as long as you ask for help it is no big deal at all. great teach for this class/ easy A if you put some effort. used the book for exams, book is online so he let us use it still. easy to get A's for test.
Professor Deng is an extremely easy professor, yet he is boring. He will just read directly off PowerPoint presentations. The exams are open-bookonline and assignments are straight-forward. The website project seems strange, but just ask for help you'll be fine.
One of the nicest professors on campus. Assignments aren't bad. Open book and open note midterm and final (laptops allowed for those with online textbooks -in which case you can cntrl f the questions). Most of the time he lets us out early for the night class. You need to put a little effort into the class. highly recommended.
Easy homework and quiz. Pretty much work on final project the entire semester. Write about the website we created and present.
Don't expect to come out of this class retaining a lot of information, unless it is something you're very interested in. Professor Deng cares about his students and wants them to succeed, however his teaching style is very basic. He reads word for word from the powerpoint and gives handouts that take no more than 5 minutes to finish as homework.
Was a very good teacher who cares about his students. The lectures were kind of boring but easy to follow. there wasn't much homework, but the homework you do get is very simple. Most of the class is based on a final project, which he tells you exactly how to complete. I enjoyed this class and I would take another class from him again.
Easy-going, but doesn't really TEACH. Just recites publisher's badly designed PPT slides verbatim. Class time is not engaging. Material is excessively detailed in some spots, overly vague in others (authors are too out of touch with real-world IT). Spent too much time on intro-to-business in first few weeks. I felt like I wasted my time & tuition.
Assigned two big projects that have a lot of detail. Tests are easy if you turn in worksheets and print powerpoint.
Great, easy going guy but does not teach. He reads the publishers PPT slides word for word. Not engaging, not enthusiastic, not passionate. Disappointing for a security course as there are no labs. This course should be in a lab where white hat hacking is done. Parts are basic IT concepts not security related. Do not take if you want to learn.
Make sure you have the book as his exam questions can all be answered with it being open book / note. Midterm and final exams (not cumulative) with MC and short answer parts. MC are phrases and definitions out of the book. Group project in which a security policy is developed for a case study provided or of your choice. Do not learn.
Keeps you the entire class. Has no industry or real world experience. Everything is textbook based with no practical industry examples. Course could be so much better with analyzing how threats occurred and referencing many current examples. Not hands on. Very disappointing and a waste of time. Nice guy overall but cannot teach. Reads PPTs verbatim
Professor Deng is a very smart Professor. However, his teaching style is very dry and boring. He reads one to two chapters each class, word for word. There is no class interaction. There was a a couple exams, but were open book and open notes. A final group project which required a 30-60 page report. Overall, was boring but pretty easy.
He was so happy about everything, which made a 3 hr class more bearable. Went over Word, Excel, & Access. follow along in class and get A's on the projects, no outside work. tests & in-class exercises open book/note/powerpoint. tests only midterm & final, straight out of the powerpoints provided in order. great easy class
His MIS 300 course is not for Accounting Majors. I expected to gain more experience in Excel during this course and received none. His class is for MIS majors and you learn coding mostly. Otherwise he is extremely helpful outside of class, and he will stay after to answer questions and fix your code. Chapter lectures are almost worthless though.
Essentially as long as you show up and do your project at the end of the semester; youll be fine. Two exams; but theyre open Note/open book so youll be fine. Just be cautious of the lecture days because he reads directly from them and can be boooooring.
Deng is fantastic. He works through all the projects that make up a big part of your grade in class. Since he teaches this way we never had any homework all semester since the lecture was pretty much doing the homework step by step. Easy class overall if you have experience with MS Word, Excel, and Access before hand.
Deng is one of my favorite professors. He cares about teaches (although his lectures are dry). Homework is very easy because they are simple one page worksheets. Exams are open book (buy the book online and use your laptop). You are given a project at the beginning of the semester and present at the end. It's a low pressure project.
OMG Professor Deng is the best!!! His lectures are a little boring but hes sweet! He gives fill in the blanks worksheets that are SUPER easy. Open book open laptop for the midterm and final exam. There is a project at the end but should be fine. He also helps you after class with it if you are having trouble. Take him!!!
Best professor I've taken at OU!!! Honestly the nicest guy and always stays after class to help each individual student with any questions. The class is based on one final project that you work towards the entire semester. Exams are very easy, open note and open laptop. Hands out worksheets that are also very easy. I would highly recommend him!!!
Professor Deng is by far the BEST professor at OU What I love about him is no matter how many questions I asked him, he never made me feel bad and he stayed after all the time to help me and other classmates. He's ALWAYS SMILING. Homework is super easy and exams are open book/open laptop. In conclusion, I would take a bullet for Deng. TAKE HIM!!!!!
Prof. Deng is one of the most caring professors I have ever taken! He will stay after class and help you until you are caught up. He wants all his students to do well. There are only two exams and they are both open book, note, and laptop so they're very easy. Lectures can be a bit boring, but he is always happy and it makes up for it Take him!!
Easy subject. Open notes, open laptop, use internet for exams. Just attend the class, follow through and finish 3 projects and get an 'A'.
Super nice guy, really does care about his students. If you have a question he will take the time to answer it and make sure you understand. Doesn't make anyone feel stupid and willing to go slower if you tell him to. Very minimal homework, the homework that you do get is right out of the book and it's just fill in the blank.
Took Deng for 1000 and 3000. Wouldnt take anyone else. He is a great guy.
Great Person, cares so much about his students and willing to help them at anytime! my only problem with him though is that he doesn't explain what we're doing during the lecture or why, we just follow the steps to get the projects done, so it can get very boring and you're probably not learn much, but you'll definitely pass!
This guy is super hard to understand. Don't expect your mind to be blown in this class, he reads off pre-made slides and speaks like he is the bread and butter in business (which is far from it). Lectures are VERY dry. Exams consist of looking up the answers on your laptop. Projects are basically done in class.
Overall a genuinely kind person. Professor Deng goes out of his way to help his students succeed. Can be a bit repetitive but is quite clear in his course expectations. Material is straight forward. He gives you all materials needed for succeeding. You wont be weighed down with useless busy work. Always professional and always smiling!
he literally does the projects in class so pay attention, go to class ask questions. Homework is really easy too, you have 3 quizzes which are easier than the projects so if you pay attention and know what you're doing you should easily be able to get an 80% or so for the quizzes. He is super patient and nice, sometimes goes a bit too fast though.
Professor Deng truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I had him for MIS 1000 and he's just as great for MIS 3000. Listens to students and helps them succeed. Wouldn't want any other professor for the subject.
"Verbatim" is how I would sum up his presentation of the lectures. He read the PowerPoints verbatim. I believe the Dr. Deng wants you to succeed and he is very nice. The exams were VERY EASY if you read the textbook. The class project in MS Access was pretty easy if you pay attention to his examples he does in class. Overall I enjoyed his class.
I believe Dr. Deng wants his students to succeed and is nice. However, he reads verbatim from his PowerPoints and provides no additional value to the lectures. He provides zero to little grading criteria for assignments and the final project. For the final group project, he doesn't provide adequate direction. Exams are textbook-based and easy.
The lecture was not easy but the professor made it easy, he is GREAT professor and he cared about his students, there are exams with open book and long project. TAKE HIM
Very hard to understand and does not put grades in ever. Been months since class started and he still has no grades In so i don't know how to see how I'm doing in the class. Again, very hard to understand.
Professor Deng can be a bit confusing when it comes to explaining certain things, but if you ask him to re-explain he will. Make sure you pay attention when he does projects. If you do exactly what he shows you, you should get an A on the projects which makes up most of your grade. Quizzes are just like the projects so take good notes. Open notes.
I Love prof Deng, he grades incredibly lightly. I literally think you automatically get a 70% by turning in assignment with just ur name on it. He cares about his lectures, If you don't show up to class though you will not pass. Open note for quizzes and the final exam. I never studied, only showed up to class and I received an A-. Deng is amazing
Took him for MIS 4180 and I would recommend. He cares about his students and is easy to reach outside of class. Exams and assignments are all open book and super easy. Other group project for this class requires a surprising amount of coding that he assumes students have learned before. Helps students out however if you go to him.
Second time with deng wish i could take him again! His lectures are a bit dry but hes so passionate about this it makes you want to listen. He does everything with you in class and sends you home with a small fill in the blank hw. Super caring and always helpful when asking questions. Will sit there after class for hours and in office hours! Great!
Basically he is a really easy grader that gives easy HW and easy Tests. I only have 2 issues with the class. The lecture style can be BRUTAL. He uses the entire class time and honestly the way he talks makes it hard to pay attention at times. 2nd issue is idk how much I like giving the option to be online. It is hard to pay attention online.
He is always smiling. You can tell he enjoys teaching the class and it shows. The only downside is the class is entirely focused on paying attention to the lectures.
Most boring professor ever. If you truly want to learn something you have to go in person. Idk how anyone can make it through his 3 hour lectures and learn. Very easy grader though so if you are just trying to get through he is great.
had him for MIS 4180 and the class required 2 textbooks. Each lecture he would read off P.P. slides for three hours and it was boring. Lets students choose to attend class via zoom or in person and for the hw all u had to do was copy and paste from textbook. Midterm and final both short essay format. His Accent kind of thick.
He's like a caring robot. He will read every letter, word, and sentence off his slides in his excruciatingly, monotone, and heavy Chinese accent. But he's adorable so I forgive him. Easy A
Professor Deng is passionate about the material and makes the lectures engaging. The class is focused on paying attention, but with Unstuck ai and the helpful examples, I was able to do well on the exams and project.
Professor Deng is an exceptional educator who brings genuine passion and enthusiasm to his lectures, making the material both engaging and enjoyable. His dedication to teaching is evident in his vibrant energy and constant smile, which creates a positive and motivating learning environment.
Professor Deng is an exceptional educator who brings genuine passion and enthusiasm to his lecture. I highly recommend Professor Deng to anyone looking for a professor who is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely kind and invested in his students' growth. His dedication and support make him a standout educator.
Professor Deng knows his stuff, he will lecture for 3 hours, but it's solid material. He is an easy grader, just do the work and you will just pass the class. Sometimes he doesn't provide a full explanation on how to do an assignment, but he will always be available to help if you don't understand. Take his classes if you have a chance!
Deng saves this class because he cares about the material. He was accessible outside of class, responding to emails within a day. Homework is super easy, tests are open note, the project is the one thing I had to really lock in for.
