He is the one of the best professors I've ever had in my entire life... He has excellent teaching skills and loves to teach.... He is simply best!!!!!!

Let's face it: Math is challenging. And with challenging courses, you must commit time to studying on your own. Prof Liao teaches the first course in the calculus sequence rather well. His examples are clear though his accent may require some getting used to. The world post-Hunter will not be served the way we may want it; let's learn to deal now.

One of the best math teachers I have ever had! While his accent does take some getting used to he teaches by example which helps a lot. He doesnt use the textbook, instead he makes his own worksheets complete with explanations, formulas, and practice problems. If you have trouble understanding anything he will go step by step until you get it.

He focuses on what you need to know. He gives out his own notes that have everything you need to solve a given problem. Attendance is mandatory. He gives a review sheet before his exams that we go over in class. Exam questions are very similar to review sheet problems. He is always available to help and answer questions.

Professor Liao was one of the best professors I've had at hunter college. He doesn't use a textbook but rather gives out his own worksheets in which he explains everything you need to know. His reviews are straight forward and does not give trick questions. If you have to take Calc 1, this is the professor to take it with.

One of the best professors I've had. No proofs or theorems given in class. Clear and provides many examples. Tests are similar to homework and examples given in class. Gladly will take him again if he taught upper levels.

Good professor goes over everything multiple times and really slowly. Tests are pretty easy and open notes. Homework is due in december so you have enough time to do it.

Probably the easiest calc professor you could take. He goes pretty slow and is willing to repeat something if you dont understand. You could ask the easiest, dumbest question and he won't judge and simply answer it. His tests are not difficult and he allows people to solve problems on the board in class for extra credit.

This is the best Math Prof at Hunter College. He explains everything crystal clear and his methods for teaching help you to understand the material. Calculus is a scary subject. However, with his guidance and techniques, you will stand a chance. I recommend him to anyone. I can't stress it enough, he is THE BEST.

Best Calc professor at Hunter period. I took Calc TWICE before, withdrawing the first time and failing the second. Prof Liao made is ALL SO EASY. I never knew how simple calculus was. He tells you step by step how to solve each problem, gives reviews, extra credit, anything to help you get an A. Exams 80%, HW 20%, 10 pts extra credit. TAKE HIM!

His accent was a little hard to understand, but he made up for it by explaining all the topics multiple times and doing a lot of in-class examples. His notes were clear and easy to follow. The webassign homework was a little time-consuming, but math/stat homework always is. Great Professor, definitely take him if you can.

Took him for summer class, Prof is super easy and gives up to ten extra credit points on the final just by doing problems on the board as a group. Take him.

BEST PROF EVER. Took calc 3 with him, he just made everything so much easier to understand. He teaches using step by step process, and he actually does problems on the board. Ive taken calc profs that doesnt even know the answer to their problems. Also he gives packets of problems, and tons of EC. Take him and try hard.

I would not take Caluculus III with any other instructor at the helm. The level of preparation and thought Liao put into this course was astounding. On the rare occasions that something was unclear about a problem, Liao was welcoming towards questions. I felt well-prepared for higher level math courses as a result of this class.

He's perfect. If you don't get an A in the class, it's your fault, not his.

One of the best teachers I have ever had. So incredibly easy and helpful. He really takes his time to explain everything and is very helpful when you ask for it. You would be lucky to have him as a professor. The tests are open book but you really don't need them because he teaches everything well. I would definitel take one of his class again.

3 open book, multiple-choice exams and a project. Attendance is required. A software is required. A lot of MyMathLab homework, but it's only 5% of the grade. Also comes with an incredibly nice and sweet professor. So take him!

He's a very nice professor, and he's always willing to help if you ever don't understand anything. The class was boring most of the times, but that's pretty much expected out of any Math class. Either way, the class was really easy and he gives tons of chances to earn extra credit points. Take his class if you get the chance! :) PS: Don't get lazy!

Professor Liao's is extremely well-organized and he makes it easy to follow the material. He has a ton of examples and covers all of the different cases so you are never confused about how to approach a problem. Stat213 involves a lot of plug-and-chug will can be a little annoying, but Professor Liao makes it manageable. You should take him.

I recently took Prof. Liao for a 6 wk summer session and it was intense. He gave us 3 exams in total but dropped our lowest and counted the highest grade twice. Homework was to be completed online and we did not use the textbook but you have to buy it for a course code. He is caring and an easy grader, honestly you can't go wrong with Liao

Very nice professor! He is very good at what he does, lots of patience, very friendly and always eager to help. Never puts you down if you don't know something (even if its smth obvious). He cares for his students and wants everyone to succeed. There is extra credit.

If one were to rate a professor based on easiness, professor Liao would get an A+. If you need to understand math and to have a good grade, take him. Although his teaching isn't the best sometimes and his accent hits you at first, it is an easy class full of extra credits and chances to get an A. Good professor overall at BMCC.

Xiaojun Liao was such a great professor! This semester I took STATS & they changed the entire curriculum where the professor isn't supposed to actually teach. You had to watch videos to learn stats. Stats is hard, so he would try & give as much info as he could. If you any questions, he would help tremendously! I'm not good at math & I got an A!

He is such a fantastic professor; I would highly recommend taking him if you have to take Math 101 because this class is hard and depressing not because of him tho, because of the topics. However, he is caring willing to explain and help out if you ask. He wants his students to pass the class if you fail; that's not his fault. He deserves an award

Goodness Liao is an amazing math instructor. He is patient, thorough and is more than willing to help you pass this class. If you fail, it is your fault. This class covers ALOT of material. It is a very dense course, but I could not have asked for a better instructor. Hunter College better hold on to this one. I will take him again.

The best professor I've had so far here. He explains the material clearly and is willing to go over it as many times as necessary for you to understand. He definitely makes it easy. His grading is clear and fair. Quite a bit of homework but it was online so it's not too bad. Gives extra credit opportunities.

This professor made algebra super easy, I failed algebra twice and dropped once before taking him. I would take him for every math class again, yes there was a lot of work but thats the department not him. He prepares us for everything that will be on the exams and does a great job breaking everything down for us. Take his class!

He is very clear of what you will be graded on and is lenient when it comes to exams and homework. Your grade is 75% test and 15% homework and quizzes so make sure you study for those exams. He teaches for an hour and Half and stays back the rest of the time to help students with homework and explaining concepts. HW and quizzes are online.

Awesome professor! I had him at BMCC and what I liked the most about him is that he makes Discrete Math accessible to all students. Just do and study from your homework and you should be able to get an easy A. Course grade was determined by: your assignments (20%), two midterms (20% lowest-scored and 25% highest-scored exam), and a 35% final exam.

Professor Xiaojun is an amazing professor. Even though the course is online and we need to teach ourselves the topics, hes always there to help & give you the encouragement and help you need. Its always easy to reach him outside of class. Id definitely recommend this Professor.

Prof Liao is laid back. You dont have to come to his lectures because he prepares everything on blackboard for you. Just do the lumen hw and get good grades on 3 exams, and its an easy A.

Even though they made us teach ourselves via Aleks this entire semester, professor Xiaojun was very helpful when you needed him to be. He was super laid back & always ready to help. Hes a great professor to get if just wanna do your work alone & have someone explain some foreign concepts when needed. I did that & I got an A+.

The class was fully online and on Aleks, but Professor Liao was very helpful by responding to students in a respectful, timely, and appropriate manner. Only 4-5 live lectures besides office hours. Aleks was very difficult and confusing, but if you attend office hours he will help you. I ended up with an A and would retake the class again.

Let me preface this by saying I am absolutely terrible at math. Professor Liao was great and really made learning math easy. I did not have a hard time at all and somehow managed to end the semester with the highest grade I have ever gotten in a math class. He is very nice and understanding and really does his best to help everyone understand.

Professor Liao did not teach me anything. I basically taught myself. However, this professor was available to explain to me how to do certain problems and correct any of my mistakes during office hours. If you can rely on yourself to learn the material, then take this professor. He's not hard, it's just that stats in general is pretty challenging.

The STATS course/department in general is pretty difficult so you do need to put in effort, but the professor was understanding and willing to help. He is also very organized and straightforward with what he wants from you.

I would like taking him once again. I love math because of what he teaches. You won't be sorry.

One of the best math teachers i ever had.He uses examples to teach students general rules that can apply to any equation you may get on hw or test.He teaches in a clear manner that is easy for students to understand. You will not fail this class if you are decent at high school level algebra.There was a lot of homework for this course only 5 exams.

Professor Liao was a great teacher. Doesn't care about attendance. Often finishes lectures before the class ends then go over classwork/hw. Right before an exam, he goes over all material that will be on the exam. Usually, the questions on the exam would mimic the review. Extremely fast grader, grades exams in a day or two max.

His lectures are very quick and easy to understand. I definitely would recommend this class

Organized and straightforward class

If you need to take this class as a prerequisites for calculus and in the summer. This is your guy!!!. He explained things so clearly, gives you questions you should review for the tests. But, there are 46 homework, and extra credits for every exams which you get 5 points added to your grades. I highly recommend the tutoring center.

Prof. Liao is very clear in his lectures. He takes his time to go through every topic (he goes very slowly). Overall, great professor but if you are in honors Stat 213 I would suggest just skipping class for the entire first unit -- it's middle school math, all the stuff you learn is given in a packet, and attendance is optional.

Very clear but slow lecturer. Attendance is optional. 3 tests and a final. All curriculum is in the packet so you can skip a class and learn at home if you want.
