Hard to understand at times, have to help her pronounce her words sometimes, but a nice lady.
I would not suggest taking a class with her, she is hard to understand and is not at all helpful. I couldn't stand going to her class.
The worst teacher at RCTC. I tried to stay in her course and tough it out, but had to withdraw cuz she is so bad. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HER!!!
She was very helpful to me, offerd to borrow me books to help out and would sit and work through problems until I understood them. Ended with a B in her class due to her help. I had no problems understanding her even with her accent.
shes super hard, and gives you homeowrk everyday. shes also really hard to understand. her tests are really hard and she grades strict
She is very hard to understand, her class is very dificult, her tests are not necessarilly related to what you learn in class she expects you to go above and beyond expectations
She is very bad. I was thinking about withdrawing her class but didn't want to loose money. I don't see why she is still there. I have to concentrate more on her talking then on what I'm actually learning. I don't understand her way of correcting either. If you get 1 wrong, it's like 11 points off and it's alway different.
good teacher!
Dont take this teacher. she is very hard to understand and her tests are very hard! Stay away from her!
hard to understand, goes through material rather quickly and expects the students to know what she's talking about.
Awesome and helpful
She can be a little hard to understand. You get lots of homework and have a quiz everyday. If you do the homework and come to class it is an easy A.
Teacher seems nice, but is not flexible when it comes to being absent. If you need help with something she says come to her after class(God forbid you have a full day and can't do so) or go to tutoring. She counts test answers wrong even when answer is right but WORK is wrong. Hard to understand, students help her pronounce words sometimes
Hard to Understand..easy class..bad teacher. Cant miss more than 6 days...
I have her for Stats.. she is difficult to understand. Students help her with words. She sometimes doesn't understand students when they ask questions..makes it frustrating. Willing to help you if you go to her office. Study the hw online and the notes and you'll do well on the tests. Teacher not recommended if stats is difficult for you.
Whenever she asks the students if they get it everyone shakes there head no and she's like ok, lets move on!! she doesnt listen to you when your trying to tell her you dont understand. she doesnt speak clear english, i would NEVER recommend her to someone! i got a 30% in her class and withdrew because i didnt understand her teaching.
She doesn't speak the best english, but is one of the better math teachers. All homework is online, which is nice because then you're guaranteed 100%.
i like to leave good ratings, and she does try, but this is the lowest math grade i ever got in her calc 3 test. and its not just me, the whole class did not do so well. she shouldn't teach calc 3. yes her English is not the best, but very understandable. her tests are hard, i would not take this teacher this teacher
this teacher is one to stay away from, she changes points on a test, seems to mark correct answers wrong, and has trubble adding up points. her grading is inconsistent from person to person, she picks favorites. do not take this professor.
she is thorough about whats going to be covered on exams.
Dr. Wang is a tough teacher but fair. She cares if you succeed or not.
do not take. my grandma died and didnt give me any leniency. one girl went to the bahamas and got to make up a test. picks favorites. hard to understand. rude to students.
Seemed Uneducated. Didn't need to buy the book after all sicne you don't use it.
Her English is not the best, but she is certainly capable of relaying her point to her students. She doesn't grade consistently from person to person on the tests, but most of the test problems are in the book if you do your homework and study.

DON'T TAKE. WORST TEACHER EVER. DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING, HER ENGLISH IS CRAP.PICKS AND CHOOSES FAVORITES. MARKS DOWN IF YOU DON'T SHOW WORK.OVERALL SHE'S TERRIBLE
by far the best iv done in a math class for a long time. english isnt the best but i enjoyed being in the class
She is very hard to understand. She moves very fast and if you do try to ask a question she doesn't understand. She says that you need to buy the book and then we didn't use it. I wasted $80. If you are more than 5 minutes late for a lecture, you don't earn extra credit. Bad professor.
I must admit her english is not that good, but as far explaining the material she really does that well and if you wanna learn I would suggest you take here.
Wonderful teaching style. Enjoyed taking her class and will be looking forward to taking more classes with her.
super helpful.. many extra points out there, makes subjects interesting and easy, gives you extra time to finish up a test.. would love to take other classes with her
I loved the way she teaches
best teacher i have ever had and I am going for calc 17 with her in the spring
She's a competent teacher. Personally, I had no problem understanding her english. She was always in her office to help me with problems after class. This class is difficult and there is a lot of homework, but if you do the extra credit problems, come to class, and study hard for the tests you can still get an A.
She is the best, most excellent teacher I have heard. I used to hate math but once I took her and the way she helped me, I knew I was going to pass, now im in her next class. wish all teachers were like her. Wish her all the best.
Dr. Wang was my best teacher ever. Having not been in school for over 30 years, I was petrified. She took time to show us everything, even let me attend another class that worked better for me. You get 3 points on your grade for attending all the classes, even gives you bonus points for doing extra credit work. Loved her!! received 102%
EASY but boring in class. Not much homework.
She is kind, super smart with math, and tries hard to help all students achieve a good grade--but that grade will require a large amount of effort on your part. Attendance is a must, so is completing all assigned homework--budget 1-2 hours per lesson for this. Grades in this class truly reflect how much work you put into it. Would take her again.
Many peers complained about Xiaomin. IMO, they just didn't want to put forward any effort. She is a marvelous teacher who clearly spends hours devising lesson plans so that they are clear and easily referenced. I had her for calc 1 as well. If you're too lazybusy to put in the hours, don't take the class. Otherwise she is the greatest math teacher
Dr. Wang is (so far) the best math teacher I've had at RCTC. She makes sure the notes are incredibly easy to read so you can do the homework. The content itself is very difficult but she makes it much easier to learn if you put forth the effort.
Very clear lectures with excellent examples to drive the concepts home. About 1.5 hours worth of homework is assigned every class day. Very easy class if you pay attention to the homework. The textbook was nice to have, but not necessary.
Runs the class like it's the only one you're taking. Lots of work. Spends very little time explaining concepts and much much more working examples. That said, she has a very clear class schedule and grading scheme. Also willing to help students outside of class.
Very difficult to understand especially when doing online. Be 2 minutes early and stay until very end of class for attendance, otherwise you will be marked absent.
Here's the deal. In my opinion, Dr. Wang goes out of her way to make this class bearable. The truth is, Discrete Math is tough. Like any math class, it requires real effort. However, it feels like Dr. Wang is always available to help you understand tough concepts. Come prepared to work and you will do just fine in this class!
The worst professor I've ever had. Very unprofessional and degrading. If I could give a 0 rating, I would.
If you have bad memory or trouble getting math down right away, good luck. There are no study guides for test and her test take up 70% of the grade. Your only resources to study is in class worksheets and graded homework. Even with a study group many other members of it struggled or failed the class as well. Stay away if possible.
My ultimate advice is BE AWAY from Dr. Wang as much as you can. she is very disrespectful. she has polices to set people up to fail. The worst professor I've ever had. Very unprofessional and degrading. If I could give a 0 rating, I would With Dr. Wang you will learn nothing. her teaching style and approach is not working for the students! BE AWAY!
Wang makes tests extra tricky and difficult in an already tricky and difficult class. No study guides, strict grading with little feedback, no posted lectures / notes, just scratching the surface. She will give help if you ask though.
Not a bad professor. You just have to work real hard and get ready for challenging tests.
not a very good professor, does not explain concepts. Expects us to know what she know regardless of whether she taught the material to us or not. lectures are vague and fast so you're really left to figure everything out without her.
Even though she encourages questions before lecture, during the lecture it feels impossible to ask any. She moves so quickly and expects you to remember all concepts from Pre-Calc and Algebra. A section a day doesn't allow for any mistakes, which is about impossible to keep up with. Prepare to make this your only class, or to retake it,
The lectures were premade recording and she only use one example for each problem. Since we used a site for homework and chapter quiz, they were completely different than what her lectures went over. She assigned homework every single day until test/quiz day and there weren't review sheets for the tests which make up 70% grading. NO RETAKE TESTS!
She had short videos on each topic in D2L and then you had to do homework for them in Cengage. The issue for me was that what she covered in the video didn't always cover what was in Cengage. I would spend 6 or so hours a week on homework just to perform poorly on the tests. Would not recommend taking this class online.
Do not take her classes by any means. I'll say it again in case someone is still on the fence Do Not Take Her Classes. She seems like one of those teachers that prides themselves on failing students. She treats her classes as if it is the only class you are taking. She uses multiple websites for her material and the work is difficult to keep track.
Dr. Wang takes a content-heavy approach that many find too difficult, and an in-person course is definitely an advantage. In calculus one, she gives extra credit for superior performance on tests and gives some opportunities for retake. However, do be aware that she assumes all students understand algebraic processes and does not review them.
If you have a hard time grasping math right away but still want a good grade in this class, it is going to require A LOT of time & effort. I spent 2+ hours on homework a day & that is on top of watching lectures and taking quizzes 2 days a week. Her tests can be harder than the homework & are so long I often didn't have time to review my answers.
Professor Wang cares about her students, and her lectures are always to the point and easy to understand. She gives extra credit for all the tests, as well as the opportunity to make them up or redo them. There is quite a bit of homework that is due very soon after it is assigned, but I found that the tests were usually easier than the homework.
She teaches class as if you already know the subject, so lecture are shorten to one example. She expects you to memorize equations, since she can cause she mastered it. Not given enough for homework cause due 1 day after class (can be 2+ chapters). Her tests are harder than the homework. I went through 4 notebooks & spent 6+ hours on homework.
Professor Wang is one of the most satisfying teachers, and you will learn lots of helpful calculus from her class. That being said it takes an extreme amount of work to reach that place. If you are willing to push yourself, you will be satisfied and get an easy A. If you don't care to work hard, you will drown. Its a sink-or-swim sort of situation.
Dr. Wang include videos about each subject but were hard to understand and were difficult to apply to homework and tests. There was also an extreme amount of homework. There were no study guides for the tests. I suggest you do not take her class. I am a straight-A student and I received a D. I am disappointed about the money and time I put in.
Her method of teaching is sparse, hard-to-follow lectures on D2L. The homework is completed through Cengage, and covers material she doesn't discuss in the lectures--I had to figure out much of the material on my own. There are no deadlines aside from the five or so tests and two exams, so it's extremely difficult to pace yourself.
Don't take her. She teaches in her lectures like you already know the material beforehand. She will jump from A to B without explaining how she did it, or why she's doing it. Her online homework is no better. The questions are different then the lecture examples. Had to try to teach myself everything again in order to answer a homework question.
This class features lots of homework through Cengage, which is very annoying, hard-to-use, and makes everything a pain. Most of the grade is through 4 online tests (using Cengage) and 2 in-person exams. Her lecture videos are slow, uninteresting, but still unhelpful. I had to teach myself nearly everything, and the textbook doesn't make that easy.
I took her during the summer of the covid pandemic when there was otherwise nothing else to do. I was forced into it. She was horrible. No test retakes. Would think you were absent when in fact you were present. I am so bad with math I ended up dropping out.
I had taken an online high school calc course and found it confusing. She explained things clearly and asked if anyone had questions regularly. She offered 5% extra credit on tests for completing review, which was helpful in preparing for the test. Homework was difficult, but there was no attempt penalty and a practice mode. I would recommend.
This professor was really great at acting like all her students knew everything. She didn't explain what we were doing and just did examples all class. If you didn't do the problem exactly how she wanted you would get only partial credit, even if the answer was right. I would avoid taking her class if you can. Make a group chat if you can.
Dr. Wang uses Cengage for homework and tests, which is easy to navigate. Her lectures were long and lacked essential information, requiring extra resources. Her strong accent was sometimes hard to understand. Clear class rules made communication easy. The fast-paced summer class was hard with other commitments. Two exams make up 60%.
Her test is hard, but as long as you did the homework and participate in class, you'll do well. Make sure to utilize her office hour!
Horrible. Stress strikes my heart everytime I have to go to her class. It's as if she is giving a lecture to a class full of herself, it's as if we have to keep up with her in a high speed chase to write down stuff whilst also trying to actually learn. She insensible.. She doesn't care if everyones on the same page, she will leave you in the dust.
This teacher is good if you have time for the class. Her class will teach you how to do the Math if you can keep up, which is quite challenging. Homework typically takes about 3-4 hours per day, which can become 5-6 if you struggle to grasp a concept. That said, doing all of the work makes getting a good grade pretty easy. Show up for that extra 3%
She is a nice lady so I hate being harsh. But her lectures are horrible. She doesn't teach, just writes out notes to copy down. She answers questions very well though. She also has a brutal accent which for me is challenging as I'm hard of hearing. Very large amount of homework which is all graded. Tests are not to terrible if you are prepared.
Only 2 exams that make up SEVENTY percent of your grade. Screw up on one and you fail. No extra credit.
avoid her at all costs
Not as helpful as she says.
Her lectures suck but you have to attend them. English isn't her first language so I don't mean this personally when I say she talks slow. If you're taking her, do online and be prepared to learn out of a not great textbook. With that being said, she taught the material and the tests weren't overly difficult.
Not as bad as people say. She was very helpful when you ask her and gives you more chances than you need to succeed. Absolutely.
If you struggle with math I highly suggest you to not take her class
She's a great lecturer. Her accent is obvious, but she compensates for it by speaking clearly. She does assign a lot of homework and quizzes though. She's quite a tough grader. There's not a lot of participation grades so your grade will be lower than you think. Expect to spend every waking hour of your life for the next 16 weeks on this class.
She is a very nice person but a horrible teacher. I wouldn't let my worst enemy take her class. Good luck trying to do anything else the 16 weeks you have her class. Don't take unless you're very confident in your math abilities and want to dedicate 3 hours a day to her class.
Don't fall for it.
I was breaking point taking this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
I had Mrs. Wang for Intro to Algebra and College Algebra back to back, three hours of math twice a week. It was often a drag, but I never had a moment where I felt confused or like I didn't understand the topic. Also, if you bomb a test, she'll help you understand what you did wrong, and then you can make corrections. She's very nice
i took math 0915 and math 1115 2 times a week and 3hous a day I regret taking this class. She teaches too fast, explains very little, and the tests are much harder than the homework. No notes or calculator allowed and homework is due the next day. The class is stressful and confusing. I would avoid taking her if you can.
Take this class if you want to spend 2-3 hours a day doing homework. There is way too much homework and it takes up a lot of time. She doesn't teach the best and explanations aren't great either, so prepare to do A LOT of self studying. Tests aren't bad if you practice a lot.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She is a sweet person, but jesus christ the workload is insane. Her lecture videos are awful, she goes way too fast and doesn't explain anything. Weekly assignments are usually 60+ problems, and you have to submit pictures of the notes you took from her lecture videos and the work.
There's no doubt Professor Wang teaches hard classes, but I have found her to be a great teacher. She wants you to succeed, provided you put in the work yourself. She's always available to review things with you outside of class, and I highly recommend attending office hours. She's a very kind teacher. With some hard work, her class is 100% doable.
Don't do it. I promise it is not worth it. Don't let your advisor sign you up for her class. You will spend at least 3 hours a day, 4 days a week doing her work. She explains nothing unless you ask and she makes you feel dumb for asking. If you're not religous, pick 5 and start praying. There isn't a final listed but the last test is cumulative. :(
Yes, her class is hard and you will have to consistently put in effort throughout the semester studying and doing assignments almost daily. However, if you show up every day to get the 3%, do the test reviews, and utilize office hours/test corrections, you will get a good grade. Its not a fun class, but Prof Wang is not a bad professor at all.
In her office hours, she just says "we went over this before" while watching a Chinese kids show and eating food, providing 0 help. I would get nothing but condescending remarks and attitude. I pulled an all nighter before a test and knew the concepts like the back of my hand. The test had stuff I had never seen before in my life. I was livid.
