Dr. Liu is a great professor. he's nice and approachable lectures are organized and structured. His exams are fair but are difficult to do well in. you have to know the content really well and be able to apply it at a higher level. There is also no partial credit. Homework and book problems help you be more comfortable with the topics.

XL is a great professor! He has notes online that are already structured for the class, so all you need to do is print them out and fill in the blank spaces while he is lecturing. He fills in a copy on the projector and posts it online, so it is easy to follow along and you can still get the notes if you are late to class or miss a class due to an

Has a very soft tone and can be hard to hear at times. He is very organized with lectures and straightforward with exam questions. Literally whatever is in the homework is totally reflective on the exam. He is good explaining things however you will still need to read the textbook to do well in the class. I honestly no longer know how to succeed

The class is somewhat challenging. Lectures are sometimes hard to follow even though they are well organized. The exams are not too challenging, but there is pretty much no partial credit so it's fairly hard to score high. Professor Liu is easily accessible outside of class though which is very helpful!

The class is challenging but that is expected in an Organic chemistry class. Overall He is a good professor and I found lectures to be long, but helpful. All the assignments are posted clearly and breakdowns for each chapter are provided. His class is designed well and he takes into account the feedback he receives on surveys.

Organic Chemistry 2 in general is hard. However, Dr. Liu makes gives organized and thorough notes to guide you through. It is important to study outside of class as frequently as possible, so tests will be easier. There will usually be one really challenging question on each test, but look through the pages before, it's usually the same concept.

In my opinion, I believe XLs methodology is one of the better ones I have seen in University of Pittsburgh. One of the main reasons that I live XLs methodology is the homework policy. Having four free tries before penalty allow me to practice stress free. One of my previous professors had a 20% penalty for each try.

Very organized lecturer that posts notes ahead of time and provides practice exams that are absolutely helpful in preparing for the real midterms. Although there is organization and structure in this course provided for them, it is still a difficult class and they do need to prepare reading the textbook or do practice questions after lectures.

Dr. Liu is quite personable. The exams are comprehensive, but there are not many opportunities to get points or partial credit, which really adds up over time. At times he overestimates his student's ability to retain information from organic chemistry 1 and the homework is very hard. Have your notes, textbook, and computer ready.

XL as an instructor effectively communicates the concepts of ochem II in a concise manner. Be aware that you must take responsiblity for your complete understanding and application of the material. His class fit best in my schedule, and he gives participation/homework points. To succeed, you must do practice problems and speak up when confused.

I have only had one instructor at Pitt but he was an effective communicator of the material. With that being said, it is necessary for you to do multiple practice problems in order to understand and fully grasp the concepts. The quickness with which he moves through the material would be my number one caution for him.

I had Professor Liu for OChem 2 and really enjoyed his teaching style. He has fillable packets and is easy to follow in class. The material is challenging but Liu has a lot of office hours and teaches the recitation himself, so he's accessible for questions. There's sapling homework too that's extremely helpful in learning the material.

His lectures go by very fast. Be prepared to scribble down all of your notes and to have topics change in the middle of writing something down. But when you listen to him, his lectures are fairly clear. His tests are difficult but fair - some questions have partial credit, some don't. You HAVE to do your practice problems if you wanna do well.

Dr. Lius organization and availability outside the classroom allow students to succeed in his class. He offers homework in addition to dropping your lowest midterm. If you focus on studying the notes given in class and have thoroughly understood that material, it is almost completely unnecessary to read the text book.

Dr. Liu is very dry and boring in lecture. The class is an hour and a half and it is hard to stay focused. He is easy to get in contact outside of class and is willing to answer questions. If you have any conflicts (personal, religious etc...), he is not willing to accommodate and will not compromise on a solution that is best for the student.

3 midterms worth 40% grade (drop lowest), surveys + sapling 20%, final exam 40%. Midterms are very straightforward so know mechanisms and reactions and youll be fine. Final is impossible level, so ace the midterms as he curves the class. Recitations are optional and pointless. He uploads lecture slides online and is very caring. Good pick for Orgo

Dr. Liu is a great lecturer, but he covers way more information than he expects you to know, leaving you more than a little lost when trying to figure out what to study. His homeworks are a lot like his exams, which is good because he does not give out practice exams. TL;DR Liu is a good prof, but could be better.
