bottom line? zeng is hard. he teaches like, "what do you mean you don't understand, i just taught you?". he gets frustrated with "stupid" questions, though is willing to help. he can be intimidating.
Hands down the best professor ever!!! "How can I just no ladder, no ladder!"
horrible calc teacher (i took it in hs and aced it) i feel bad for ppl in my class that are takn it the first time...hes funny though and yells randomly...all things already said bout him are VERY true
haha if u want to laugh @ a professor, take zeng. he uses funny examples all the time. one time this kid didn't get something with fractions and zeng sed: "it doesn't matter that the bottom is, it could be 1/dog, it doesn't matter!" his english
This guy is my favorite. He is really is humorous. Loved it when he yelled at stupid questions. He got so frustrated with us on Halloween kicked us out early and told us to "Go home and eat your little candy".I also remember 1/dog.
he is a good teacher overall (i just dont like calc). He cracks funny jokes from time to time as well. Doesnt check HW, but if u do it u can use it to boost ur test grades.
"You cant do that? No relation! Its like fairy tale! You have king, then he leaves, and theres some other guy, THERES NO RELATION!" funny guy. makes fun of stupid questions a lot. Student: "im not gonna answer that cuz ur just gonna mak
HE is hard to understand but very funny. Makes jokes all the time, makes class go by faster with his jokes about something stupid.
He's hilarious. He's also a very good teacher. He knows everything about math and can explain it too.
Zeng is an awsome teacher! Going to class was fun just because of all the comments he says such as "you cannot buy derivative from hardware store." At first he comes off a little strict, but if your haveing trouble go talk he will help a lot!
the best math teacher i think ive ever had. he can be hard to understand at times, but as long as u do the homework and ask your questions, his class isnt that bad. also a good sense of humor.
Funny Guy...Decent class...I have had worse
Zeng is the coolest guy ever. He's so asian. His tests can be a little damned hard though, and for tiny reasons, will completely discredit your entire homework packets, hurting your grade. Otherewise, funny as hell. I love him and hate him.
very hard teacher he tries hard to help u learn but moves way to fast and belittles people to the point where they are scared to ask a question....dont take him unless you are very good at math
he a really funny professor but if your not good in math or learning from the book dont take him... he doesnt care about attendance.. but he is a VERY hard grader.... tests are pretty challenging too.... dont take him unless you have too....
His final has a HIGH avg of 65 out of all semesters he's taught it! Always use the "quizzes" to your advantage- he doesn't grade them, don't worry.
WORST PROF EVER. y do so many ppl like him?! he's mean, with hard tests, and very intimidating. he'll make u feel SO stupid if you ask a question. avoid him at ALL costs.
I have zeng for calc 1 and 3 and discrete math, he is the best teacher ever, as long as you do your work and he knows you do your best, you cant get less than a c. funny as hell too you gotta listen to all his jokes
Excellent teacher. Funny as hell as everyone else said. He reminded me of the Chinese guy from South Park who had to build the wall. lmao
Cool guy and helpful.. imtimidating sometimes but he just wants u to learn more.. people say hes hard cuz he pushes u to learn.. i thought i was getting a C and ended up with a B.. im happy and i would recommend him!
Zeng is the f'n man. Plain and simple. He's funny, gives extra credit for hw and just is an all around good guy.
Really good teacher, possibly best I had. Tests werent bad. Made fun of ppl so was funny.
Very intelligent man. Not a bad teacher, but the material was hard. EXTREMELY intimidating when you ask him questions in class (he made a girl cry in my class). Overall he left the room during exams. Im terrible at math and got a B. Go to all classes and you will do great.
I withdrew out of this class so i wouldnt fail, even with a high school calculus backround. He is smart, but is not very good at responding to questions. If your a math/engineering geek, then take him. If not dont waste your time. If you are struggeling, get help from another source, not him....
Great professor! He's good at what he's teaching in class. Take an advantage of all his quizzes since they are very helpful for your exams. His teaching style is just perfect and precise.
HORRIBLE teacher, unwilling to help outside of class and he makes fun of you and doesnts want to be bothered with questions. He grades 3 tests and thats its. No points for hw, participation, or attendance. My advice is to not take him and avoid him at all costs. He tries to be funny buts hes not.
Great teacher, you can tell he really wants you to learn. Some people get uncomfortabel when he knows you don't understand and tries to get you to reason problems out infront of the class. He's not trying to embarass you, he really wants you to learn. Any class he teaches has tough material.
Knows his stuff, a little hard to understand. If you wanna do well on the tests DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
very helpful teacher! sit next to someone really smart because he always leaves the classroom when taking a text... why? i really don't know... our whole class helped eachother when he left the room... so unless you get a class full of pricks then you should do okay! :P
Yeah I'm down with Zeng. Hope you're smart, though. He's this little oriental math machine. "I don't care if you could do calculus last year. Can you do calculus now?!" Fell asleep once before class, and someone had to go get him. Classic stuff.
Zeng is a very hard teacher. He may seem like the man because of his jokes, but he's not! His tests are impossible! Before each test, he announces the average test score from the previous semester which is usually between 40-50 points. Most people failed the class, and the others got either a C- or a C. He will lower your GPA!!!!!
He gives you everything neccesary to pass the class easily.
I feel sorry for anyone who gets stuck with him. I tried numerous times to get help and he wouldn't help. I ended up getting a tutor just to get a C. Take Howe if he's available, otherwise get a tutor.
he is impossible! his tests are soo hard and he doesn't explain what he's doing..he won't help you either, and if you ask a question, he'll just make you feel stupid and ask why you don't know how to do it already..he will lower your GPA!
Alright Class. Need to attend all classes to pass exams. HW counts if you do it. If not, only Exams count. Need to do homework to understand what is going on, and need to have good background in algebra and some pre-calc. Overall a good teacher.
His tests are ok and he does explain what he's doing. You need to see him if you need help; He helps. I will take him again if there is one.He has different accent, but it is ok. Don't hate professors when the fault is somewhere else.
Professor Zeng knows his math! He also can draw very well which is what made his Calc. III class so amazing! I had trouble at first "seeing" things in three dimensions. But with his drawings and instructions, I completely understood them. He is a fantastic math teacher!!
The best math professor! Period. If you do your homework and actually go to his class. You will get an A. If you can't, a brain transplant is strongly recommended.
My favorite professor ever. He knows exactly what he's doing and teaches you it as clearly as possible. You'll get used to his accent within a week. If you actually do the homework every night you'll get an A. I didn't do any homework and I have a B+ right now with 1 more test to take. I would definitely take him again; he's the best math prof.
This class is not as bad as everyone thinks. Dr. Zeng gives 4 tests, the average is your final grade. The tests are pretty straightforward if you do the hw and worksheets he gives in class. I think he gives a pretty generous curve in the end, I somehow managed to get an A...
This man without a doubt knows his stuff. However, I feel as though it is also hinders his teaching ability. After attending two of his classes I have seen him ridicule the students because they don’t understand some of the concepts. In one of the classes he made one student so upset she was about to cry. This is not a teacher you want to take if y
Great professor good at explaining and helping students to understand math. Gives practices quizzes which are very helpful for tests.
I ended up dropping this class. The accent barrier is horrible, I took the class over the summer, and completely understood everything, so it wasn't that the subject was hard, he was just an awful teacher. And he does talk down to students
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. He knows his stuff, is clear in explanations, and is very helpful. There is no mandatory homework, but he gives you lots to practice with. He is also very funny and can draw 3-dimensional pictures like you wouldn't believe. Take him; he is phenomenal.
The man can draw! He's a pretty good teacher, but can get a bit hard at times. 3 tests made up total grade. He gave extra credit on them though, and a take home section. Overall a pretty good teacher, just do your work!
Dr. Zeng is the man and by far the best Math teacher available. Take him for any class you can, he is hilarious. His practice quizzes are basically the same thing he gives as the test, so if you don't get a good grade you just don't belong in that class. His teaching/notes and especially his drawings are phenomenal. /thread
Dr. Zeng seems intimidating at first, but if at least have some clue as to what is going on in class.. you'll be fine. As a recommendation for students who have had no prior Calc I classes, be prepared to study, study, and study because Calc or any math course is naturally difficult to some. Oh, and ask questions! (average of 4 tests = your grade)
If you aren't a genius at Calculus before entering the class, AVOID HIM BY ALL MEANS POSSIBLE (emphasized). The man is extremely intelligent, but what most people don't realize is that just because you are a master of your subject, it does not necessarily make you a good teacher. He speaks at the speed of light and he's HARD. 4 EXAMS = YOUR GRADE.
He is very intimidating, but will help you until you understand. Gives 'quizzes' at the beginning of classes and tests are based off these quizzes. Homework is never graded, but it definitely helps to do it all the time. The average of 4 tests is your grade.
took him for Calc T & A & am a business major. bad teacher if you just need it as a pre-req. average of 3 exams is your grade. he gives "quizzes" at the beginning of every class but doesnt grade them. he teaches off lectures, not the book. ull study hard but will still feel dumb on the tests. 8 people in my class failed :/
If you are not a science major you may not want to take him, OTHERWISE YOU SHOULD because you will actually learn something. He is a great teacher who wants everyone in class to learn. Doing homework + asking questions = A
Great professor - I learned a lot.
Having calc with professor zeng was a blast. He's really good at explaining things, and you'll be laughing at least once every class. The only thing some people might not like is that your grade is simply four tests.
An excellent professor. He has a bit of an accent but is easy enough to understand. Engaging and enthusiastic about the subject, he is an energetic professor and the entire class loved having him. My advice is-come to class, pay attention, do the homework, and ask questions and you will do well. I very much recommend this professor.
Zeng is the man! had him for a summer course and alot of people didnt do so well so he curved the final grades
Great Professor! Took him over the Summer for Calc I and II. Before taking his classes, I always had trouble understanding math. But I got through both courses with a decent grade, and it now makes sense. Grade is based on 3 tests. Will take him for Calc III, and I am now minoring in math because of him.
The. Most. Amazing. Math. Professor. EVER. I have never had complicated concepts explained so succinctly before. Even stupid question he would go out of his way to explain. The way he explains things lets you figure out the answer to your own question. His enthusiasm makes it hard not to have fun in the class.
Had him for Accelerated Calc, best teacher I've ever had. He's crazy, unpredictable, and really smart. He also gives out daily quizzes that mean nothing to your grade but prepare you for his tests.
Not that bad of a professor. When I first came into the class Freshman year, first time, he spoke real quietly, thick accent, and gave us a "diagnostic" test. That didn't ease my worries much. Fortunately, I did fine on the diagnostic (I'm no genius). Goes over HW problems, tests usually like HW. He interrogates you if you ask a question, tho.
Has an accent but is a very good teacher. He definitely needs getting use to. But once you know him he's awesome.
Accent is tough to follow sometimes. Did not go a class without laughing since hes a jokester and knows it. Class is based on 4 tests so if your not a good test-taker your not going to get a good grade. Homework isnt graded so its on you. Lectures are usually based on an ungraded quiz in which he helps you complete. Recommended but hes not easy
Calc 3 the class is based off of 3 tests. He gave out 10 pts take home and 10 pts extra credit on the first 2 tests. The tests are hard, but he's a GREAT teacher and explains things very well. If your going into teaching you should definitely take him.
Take it from an engineer, Dr. Zeng is among the best (if not the best) advanced math professors at Rowan. Crystal-clear understanding of the subject! Work hard and you will be fine as he is always looking forward to help!
Dr. Zeng is the man. At first, I hated him. But as class went on, I grew to love his sense on humor. He is very intimidating and will make you look dumb if you ask a question, but he will still make sure you understand it. If he looks at your work and asks you to put it on the board, that means your'e wrong and hes making an example of you.
Dr.Zeng, a very great math prof. He knows his stuff, but he is not easy. If you work you will have no problem, don't be afraid to ask him for help, because he can be a little intimidating
Hilarious teacher and fairly nice guy when you actually talk to him. His accent is a bit thick, and he uses metaphors and comparisons that are really strange, but he will teach you what you need to know. A good teacher, and his English is fine, he just doesn't grasp some of the subtleties of the language.
Literally my favorite teacher of all time. The man is hilarious and really knows his stuff and is a really good eacer. I had a pretty bad calc teacher in high school and got a C and I came here and got an A with Zeng. It helps a lot if you do the homework but everything else is optional. No grades besides 4 tests. Highly recomended!
Challenging but very possible, all tests reflect book and in-class work. If you pay attention well enough I see no reason not to do well.
Nice guy. Has an accent but you learn to understand what he says as time goes on. He teaches calc like if you took it already in high school. If you have never learned the subject before his class is rough.
Love Zeng, taking his Calc 3! I was well prepared for Calc 2. Ungraded pre-assessment on the first day. If you don't do too well, just talk to him! (1) Go to every class and copy his wonderfully clear notes (2) Do hw & make sure you understand it (3) If needed, visit office hours (4) Study (5) Ace the 3 tests (25% of grade each) and final (25%) :)
Zeng clearly understands math, and is great at teaching it. He's a little intimidating and will pick on you in class, but don't take it personally because he does it to everyone. There is in in-class work ("quizzes"), but the tests are VERY similar to them. Go to class, do the work, ask questions, and you'll be fine. My favorite math class yet!
AWESOME TEACHER. Super helpful during office hours. Prepares you for tests. Manageable amount of homework. Really knows his stuff and is funny. Calls on random people during class and expects participation. Really good class. Nice guy.
I'm terrible at math and my grade with him was terrible. But he is a good teacher. He made a 3 hour class hilarious. The man is funny, he is the typical Asian math genius. His class is hard, and he's intimidating, but he cares for students."If Function X squared, and you put dog into function, what you get.......... DOG SQUARED!!!!" Room explodes.
His explanations are really clear and thorough. Workload is lax. He'll assign problems for homework but doesn't check them and goes over them in class if you have questions. Also gives daily quizzes but doesn't collect them. Really the 4 exams are the entirety of your grade, so as long as your prepared for them you'll be good.
His sense of humor is awesome. Just practice his daily quizzes before the exam and you will good to go. Planning to do the homework too?? Oh yes you have already aced the quizzes. Wish he taught linear algebra too!!!
Gives little to no partial credit on tests. There are only three tests that add up to your entire grade, so if you mess up on one there is no hope for you. Tries to embarrass students by forcing them up to the board when they don't have right answers.
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. His accent is difficult to understand, his tests are hard, and he barely goes over homework. If I can avoid taking another class with him, I will.
This was the hardest class I've ever taken and I'm normally an A student. He doesn't grade anything expect for tests. There were 4 in total, 25% each and none of them were ever easy. Every night, expect a bunch of homework even though it isn't counted for credit. However, if you don't do them, it'll probably be hard to pass the class.
Show up to class, do the homework and it should be an A, no problem. Even though the homework's not graded, it really helps you out. Bit of an accent, but he's comprehensible, will help if you ask for it, and usually keeps you from falling asleep at 8am. Just watch out if you don't know what you're doing because he might single you out in class.
Dr. Zeng is one of my favorite math teachers ever. His lectures are entertaining and stimulating if you have an interest in math. He is really willing to help you better understand the material. As long as you study the quizzes and homework, you'll do fine on the three tests he gives (which is your entire grade). I would definitely take him again.
I took Dr. Zeng for Calc III. He is amazing at 3D drawing, HUGE help. His lectures are straight forward, and he always explains topics thoroughly. His tests however, are challenging and his grading is strict. Can't BS tests Assigns hw every night, (not collected). Lots of in class practice. Your grade will be 3 tests, so STUDY. Would recommend.
It's important to know that Zeng's grading system is the average of 3 tests. Personally, this style suits me and I enjoyed the class. He is very good at lecturing and gives homework every class. I was able to get through with an A- without doing the homework, but you may want to spend some time doing homework on topics you need to.
A great professor to take for your first semester of college, really exposes you to the work needed to excel in college math classes. Cares about his students and will want you to succeed no matter what. In every lecture he takes concepts from the ground up and will call you out to participate. A little intimidating at times, but for good reason.
Dr. Zeng is one of the funniest math professors at Rowan. The man has magical metaphors and analogies that will brighten up any class period that is dragging along. There are 3 tests, but he gives extra credit assignments for them. His examples are great and you should honestly take the class just to see his drawings; they are astonishing.
This entire class is graded on 3 quizzes, 1 final, and one take home assignment. Homework is assigned but not checked. If you mess up ONE assignment, you're dead in the water.
Really good teacher, good class if you have a background in calc. Hard for first-timers. Only grades are 4 tests, no participation or quizzes, so if you fail them good luck. Really tough grader, hardly gives partial credit, takes off many points for simple mistakes (simplifying) even though you show clear understanding of how to solve the problem.
This man is awesome, but expects a lot from students. He is incredibly clear, thorough, and logical in his lectures. Lets you bring lots of notes to tests. Very willing to help outside of class. Basically if you give care and give effort, he will be fantastic and you will learn a lot. He's also super funny and keeps your attention in class
Went from a 3.8 gpa to a 3.5 after this class. His lectures are circuitous and confusing. Homework isnt graded but is still required. Advisor told me after it was too late to drop that most people take CalcII at community college.
The grade is based on 3 tests(including the final) and some extra credit. He's a super tough grader and doesn't give a lot of partial credit, so one mistake costs you. I don't mind him as a teacher; he isn't the best I've ever had, but still fairly good. It's mainly the grading that bothers me, and why I wouldn't recommend him to someone else.
I had Prof. Zeng for Calc 2 and he grades solely on 4 tests. But the quizzes you have are just practice problems and you go over them with the class. After each test, he gives you a chance to earn up to 10 e.c. points! I learned a lot from him and even though its a tough class, keep doing practice problems/homework/review and youll be okay.
(ONLINE) His lectures aren't very helpful. The textbook is useless, YouTube is more helpful than than the book, trust me. We had 4 mini tests per quarter so 16 tests total, each one is about 6 problems. It's not like every other math class where if you bomb one test you're down to a C. Your grade is 100% tests, and the final isn't cumulative.
