Best chinese teacher ever! Very hip and young. You'll learn alot too. Lots of material...but tests will be OK as long as you know all the vocab/practice your grammar.

She tried to be funny, a lot of "cold" jokes. But oeverall, she's pretty easy and fun to have as a prof. You really need to know all the pinyin and vocab.!

Such an awsome teacher. I love her sarcastic comments and silly jokes about how Chinese people are the greatest people in the world. Her tests and quizzes are easy as long as you study for them and pay attention in class. There are a lot of vocab words but hey, that's how you learn a new language right?

BEST TEACHER EVER. super chill class is so much fun. just study before tests and quizes. and participate in class it counts as a grade. when i had her it was drop two quizes and one test. only three oral presentation. quiz very often. but EASY if you study.

Best teacher I had in school so far. Very sweet, funny. Advice: You have to attend class (but dont worry, it's fun and she'll make you laugh), study the words and important points she talks about IN class..use your book, it helps a lot. How she grades and how points are distributedis MORE then fair. For us, 7 quizez, chapter test & final.

Dr. Wu is a wonderful teacher! She is very helpful and informative. She has a vast knowledge of the Chinese culture that she loves to share. If you like to learn about other cultures, she is one of the best teachers to learn it from. She expects you to study the text book and practice intensely on your calligraphy.

Professor Wu is one of the nicest and most enthusiastic professors I know. On top of that, she's got a wicked sense of humor which often goes unappreciated in the class! I don't need to echo all the good reviews here, but as a student who has taken 3 professors and Chinese 1-4 at PCC, she's definitely the teacher you should pick for Chinese class.

I took chinese 4 just because she was teaching it. I wouldn't have taken it if the instructor was someone else. I've taken her once for 2A. And yeah, she's that great. Extremely nice and funny. And she's generous. Enough said, just take her.

Chinese probably doesn't seem like an easy language to learn, but Dr. Wu tries her best to help. Class is never boring at all. She jokes with the students and is really a nice person. If you're hesitant about taking a Chinese course, look no further. Dr. Wu is easily the best instructor I've had at PCC.

Absolutely amazing. I loved her class SO much! She has the rare and amazing combination of being a friendly, exciting professor and a strong understanding of her subject to be able to teach it incredibly well. Not for the weak of heart work-wise, but it's worth it if you really want to learn. She is truly a gift. xiexie!!

She's a pretty good professor. I only had her for three weeks because the actual professor had left on vacation. She's an interesting professor. She'll forget that she wrote vocabulary for quizzes on the board and likes students to participate. I advise this class to the tolerant of bad habits because she tends to say "okay" every 10 minutes.

Awesome and crazy (in an endearing way) professor. Did a good job explaining the vocabulary and grammar which was particularly helpful. Took interest in getting to know her students. Very funny and enthusiastic teacher. Definite recommendation.

Very nice and helpful teacher, sometimes she goes to fast in her teachings but will help you out after class. Quiz everyday of like 8 words they are not worth much but add up. Test are decent just study. Would of have gotten A if I had studied for quizzes. All in all great teacher must take for beginners or experts.

Expect the course to be challenging, after all it's 5 units. Overall great class, Zoe was extremely helpful and taught us well. I would recommend this class to anyone. My advice: study for the quizzes everyday and you will do fine on everything else. Good luck!

I didn't like her at the beginning but she turned out to be very informative. VERY funny and intertaining on what can be a difficult and dry material. It's too bad she only taught our class 2 weeks. We had to have the other Wu instead. =/

Great sense of humor lol She is one of the BEST teachers i ever had! She is quite helpful and tries very hard to help you understand the language. There are quizzes everyday so studying is a must. You can win her over with egg tarts ;)

She had a quiz almost on every class meeting, but those quizzes turned out to be helpful toward chapter tests. Overall, she is hilarious and really helps her students to learn.

She is one of the best professors at PCC! Very informative and helpful. Quizzes almost every class meeting tend to be a bit challenging but in the end, it just makes studying that much easier. If you do well on the quizzes, you do well on the tests. The final is all review frm the chapter tests. best class ever!! take her!! you won't regret it! :)

She is the one who make a dry, hard subject to an interesting and funny one. I love her so much since her class is my little funny world. I wish she teach CHNSE-2 too.

Wu Laoshi is an incredible, natural born teacher. She uses humor so that the lesson and grammar points are subtly made & easily remembered. Her vocabulary quizzes provide context & grammatical patterns. She is one of the best teachers I have had * I loved this class. She has an insightful understanding of Chinese and Eng/Amer grammar and culture.

Wu lao shi is the best! So funny, it's ridiculous! By far the best at teaching Chinese. I initally had other Chinese teachers who couldn't teach right, but she elucidated all the problems and helped me fixed them. Very charismatic. It might be hard first because Chinese is relatively difficult initially. But she will help you all the way! Def Rec!

Class is "Medium-difficult." ;-) I would surely recommend her class to students with no previous experience speaking Chinese. While I was a quiet student, she kept us engaged via her lecture, hilarious anecdotes, or zinging one-liners. She really does care about her students, and that made the fast-paced content much more bearable to absorb.

Engaging, fun, hilarious, a lot of extra credit. For a non-native speaker, Chinese 4 may be difficult since we go through lessons very quickly, with most having 30+ new vocab each section. Tests are almost entirely from the bookhw.

One of the best classes I've had at pcc. she really knew how to keep lectures interesting and in general is a very funny and laid back person. Just read the book and listen to when she explains what will be on the test and you can get an easy A. 4 tests, final, 4 hw assignments, quiz everyday. she drops lowest test and 2 lowest quizzes

The funniest prof I have ever had! She keeps a long class entertaining, and makes learning a new language fun. I highly recommend this course. Chinese 1 is easy if you put the study time in.

I love this class! All the students in our class are nice people. We are like a big family. As most of the students are beginner in Chinese Calligraphy . It is not easy to do it pretty, but Wu laoshi is very understanding. As long as you follow her instructions and do your work, you will pass with a decent grade:)

If you're not a native speaker, this class is going to be very hard. She goes through lessons really quickly so it's hard to follow along. She gives quizzes every day and there are about four tests the whole semester. Upside is that she is a really funny professor and likes to tell jokes to keep us entertained.

Zoe was a funny and entertaining teacher. She loves to make lots of jokes throughout the lecture to keep us entertained. The calligraphy at first seemed intimidating, but once you practice more, you will get the hang of it and its not easy either. The test is multiple choice and also a calligraphy part in class for midterm and final.

Perhaps one of the most entertaining and helpful professors of my time in PCC. She prepares her lessons very well and there really isnt anything too hard to begin with. She makes the class very fun and enjoyable, and if the class does well she is more than happy to accommodate a party for the class. Oh and shes definitely pretty hot.

Took her for Chinese 1 in the summer! She's the BEST professor I've had at PCC! She is very funny! She tells jokes during class and makes it fun! I really loved the way she taught her class. She lectures, makes you practice writing characters, quizzes you almost everyday. The quizzes really help you study because it's hard to learn a new language.

Honestly any language is going to be hard but prof wu makes it super fun and easy! She also brings in little snacks almost every class session so she's good in my book!

Best professor ever! No joke! She always cares about her students and it looks hard but its actually not as hard later on. She makes it enjoyable and fun and free snacks! Theres 6 tests total ,no midterm, and final and some quizzes to help you with the tests and really take advantage of those quizzes!

Shes such a cool professor, she makes alot of life connections and jokes. Her lectures are never boring. She gave us one group project, couple of extra credits. Weekly homework but nothing hard. She gives you all the test answers in the lectures. She also gives practice quizzes on canvas before midterms and finals.

She's super chill. She will tell you what will be on the midterm and final. One presentation, which is extremely easy. After weeks of practice, there will be tremendous improvement on handwriting. If you do the homework, you will be fine. Also, she always bring some food to share. I also love her super funny jokes! A great learning experience tho!

This class is the perfect balance between difficulty and effectiveness. Although people may be turned off by the everyday quizzes, Professor Wu is one of those really charismatic, engaging teachers where you don't feel like you are taking a difficult class. I got a solid A in the class. Everyday quizzes, seven tests, and 3 scripted presentations.

By far one of the best Chinese 1 teachers I have ever had, all the lectures are clear and youre sure to have a basic grasp of Mandarin whether you are a beginner or intermediate. HOWEVER, you must put in the effort in practicing characters and grammar outside of class because it is impossible to learn any language just in calss alone

Having grown up not speaking Chinese, this wonderful teacher has the deep linguistic knowledge to bridge the gap in an English speakers mind to allow them to see the world, and language in a different light and understanding. She is really overqualified, but excels in simplifying ideas and concepts for easy digestion. Highly recommended

Professor Wu made It simple for anyone who isn't familiar with Chinese calligraphy or Chinese culture to understand it and retain what was taught. Show up to class as whatever is in the lecture, is in the tests. Don't worry if you aren't an artist btw, just try your best and you'll get better as you practice. Put out, and this is an easy A.

If you want to pass this class you will have to study constantly. Dr. Wu always keeps her class engaged with her vibrant energy. Best teacher you could ever have. She is lit.

An enjoyable professor who is full of energy and laughs. That being said, there are quizzes everyday, but they are simple 1-3 sentence quizzes. Homework turned in on test days. Asks for participation in class, which helps you a lot. Slides seem a bit messy, but if you ask her to help/explain it to you, she gladly will.

Wu Laoshi is the best professor I have ever had at PCC and I've been here for 3 years. I respect her a lot b/c she is highly educated and also has a wonderful personality. I took this class for winter session and enjoyed it more than i expected. Professor Wu's is the kind of energy you need on a bad day. Her positivity really lifted everyone spirits and made learning fun. I thought i was doing a poor job on my calligraphy, but if you put the effort it, you will get an A.

Took calligraphy class during the winter. I thought it would be an easy A but you really need to study for it. Wu laoshi is super knowledgeable and proud of her culture! Don't know why but the classes always end ONE HOUR LATER.

Shes honestly great. Professor Zoe gives relevant and useful background and a very helpful framework to learn Chinese. Her lectures normally run shorter than the time alotted and she does a great job explaining tone, word pairing, but especially great with grammar. Shes funny as well, adding anecdotes about her life to keep class engaging.

Lots of work so try not to fall behind. If you can stay on top of it it becomes easy. Lots of tests so beware.

This professor is literally so funny. The funniest I've ever had. She also brings snacks daily. The class itself isn't the easiest but it is a Chinese class so that's expected. Just study and you'll do fine. Lots of work but shes an easy grader, bi-weekly tests/3 verbal, pretty simple. She's also a god at Wordle. Plays everyday but has never lost.

Very good professor. Most of the tests if asking you to fill out the missing word from a paragraph in the textbook. You'll be fine as long as you memorize the textbook (read it a few times).

At some points that the exam is kinda strict, and you really have to translate every detail, if not you will lost some points. But the assignments is easy, don't turn it in late, and you will be fine in this class. Overall, an easy class.

Best of the best, if u didn't get an A in her class, u either didn't review or didn't spend time practicing calligraphy

First of all, Prof. Wu is hilarious! Her lectures are always entertaining and informative. She's very caring and it really shows that she wants to help all of her students. 6 tests, homework is from the workbook and we do it in class. You'll have to participate. Definitely take her for Chinese calligraphy and Mandarin 1, you won't regret it.

Wu laoshi was the best Chinese teacher I have ever had (this is coming from a person who has taken over 7 years of Chinese)! She is hilarious, caring, and gives good feedback. I highly recommend taking her class, you will learn a lot and have fun learning.

Her class is extremely easy as long as you pay attention to class or email her any questions you have. She also teaches extremely well; once she explains a concept and gives a few examples of how to apply it, it's all that I need to learn the material. Lastly, she goes over the workbook in class and corrects any mistakes we make and clarifies why.

BEST Professor ever!!!! She goes over the lecture presentation and pays attention to her lecture. And You will easily get an A. I would recommend taking Professor Wu.

I'm not done with the semester yet but I had a private oral test with her and she could tell that I wasn't prepared at all because it took me 10 minutes to finish the oral and I couldn't answer her final question so she had to guide me through it. She had every right to give me an F on it but she instead gave me a B- so her grading is so lenient!

75% history lessons and 25% calligraphy. Calligraphy isn't easy but as long as u try, she will generously grade you. Radical HW and quizzes are based on lectures. Midterm + final Q are also directly from those so study off of those. There's 1 presentation & paper but they feel like completion credit. Grades final calligraphy work w/ at least 15/20.

I have been sticking to Professor Zoe for almost 3 semesters; her lectures are as amazing as ever and not boring. Chinese 2 is an online Zoom class but show up and participate to protect your attendance grade. Fun to take her class. EASY A. RECOMMENDED!!!

love! cheat sheet on tests, the workload is extremely manageable, 2 online quizzes every week with character sheets being due every few weeks. BE ON TIME bc there's a canvas quiz every beg of class, she doesn't allow any make ups for anything btw. funny interacts w the class a lot. don't procrastinate like me tho cause I let it pile up,I recommend!
