One of the easiest classes I have ever take. But I learned a lot. He does not take attendance and the test are so easy. Excellent teacher and person.

I learned so much from Xocoyotzin! He's very down-to-earth and always asked for feedback from the students. He made the class interesting and enjoyable. I'd like to take another class with him in the future. CH S 310 was a very fun class.

easiest class i have taken at CSUN. Good for a GPA booster and upper division GE. Class is easy and fun. he gives you answers befire the test. highly recomended.

A great teacher. His purpose is to teach you something and unlike other teachers who stress on tests and grades, he is so easy going to a point where you actually go to class to learn and not just study for grades. I have learned to respect him, the Mexican culture and music.

He is very approachable, He often repeats lectures on purpose, in order to get lectures imprinted into your mind...easy A because of it. If you pay attention you get an A. I feel that this Anthropologic ChS class made me understand in detail the indigenous history of Mexico...He Rocks!

hes really nice and easy to talk to...would be late to class most of the time. tests are easy, he repeats himself alot so if you missed class you will definitely catch up somehow. Highly recommended

Super easy! This is class is very interesting. He's funny, enthusiastic, and truly cares about teaching. Midterm & Final were take-home. You do one presentation on anything that has to do with language and you don't have to submit a paper or anything. He's great!

Prof.Herrera is very knowledgable in his skill.He keeps the class very interested and motivated with his lectures. He gives the class a demonstration of his music and instruments, very helpful with understanding the music and its origin. He is TOTALLY AWESOME and very goodlooking. Excellent class Fun Can't wait to see his group in concert sometime.

I really learned a lot about Chicano Studies. I especially liked learning about Mesoamerica and the arts. This teacher know alot and he can explain anything you ask him really well. Reviews for the exam are no b.s. and he goes over everything.He's really cool and easy going. I'll take him again for another class.

By the way...he is a good looking guy...who just happens to know his stuff. Don't believe the haters. And...he's not boring...he's a fun guy!

This is the easiest class i have ever taken.He makes his class lots of fun.Him & his family perform for the class.A total of 3 things make-up ur grade:a take home midterm, one 2 page paper, & a final, that u can use notes with and work in pairs. I recommend not buying the book b/c he gives u all the info u need for the assignments.Super nice guy.

Xocoyotzin is very easy because he is so helpful and add to that that he really knows a lot and explains well. He is really what the dept. of Chicano Studies need especially now that all the old school veterano profs are retitirng.

Xocoyotzin is a cool professor and cares a lot for his students. Anybody can pass his class if they just take notes, don't talk, and never ever fall asleep! (it pisses him off). He only gave out 2 exams which are very easy, but you'll still learn a lot in his class. I highly recommend him to anyone.

IF you do not get an A in this class then it's time to go back to junior high. He gives you an A. I'm sorry this class is too easy.

Yes, his classes are easy because he make them easy given that he does a great job of teaching them. You can tell he really likes what he does and he knows a lot. Good looking and really smart too.

Very easy and chill professor. You just have one four page paper and two tests (midterm and final). He's also very funny so his classes are not boring! he's definitely a must take ^_^

He was one of the chillest professors i have ever had. Kew his material very well and was very funny. He made class very interesting and didn't mind making his students lives alot easier with his easy midterm and final. You don't have to go to class and overall, an easy A if you take decent notes.

Take CHS 310 if you need UD G.E.s. This guy's class is super EASY! He's a really nice guy too! Highly recommended.

Very good teacher. His class is easy and understandable even if you are not mexican. Tests are take home and there is only 1 four page paper due during the semester. I high recommend this professor.

This professor is the coolest. very clear outgoing and informational. Never bored in his class.. always cracking jokes and sets a friendly environment. One of my best choices.

His dad is a musician and teaches at CSUN, his sister sings, he is a musician. He loves what he does. Easy class and fun. Guest musicians go sometimes and the tests are very fair. I learned about the roots of Mexican music, and for those of you who don't understand Spanish, he has translated lyrics. You will pass this class with ease.

We often do not have concepts of our origins, this class has helped teach me where we originated and to embrace and be proud to be Mexican. This class is also good for other cultures to learn more and understand an origin of a people. I have not had my first exam with this class but do not believe it will be very hard.

His is a great teacher. He is a good musician, his sister is a fabulous singer, his father is a musician, his wife is a dancer, and his other sisters dance too. Great family! Great class.

Easy class. Grades very easy. Class is not mandatory but the test are completely based on the notes. Tests are extremely easy. Great professor,approachable, easy going. He is a very talented musician. Has a passion for what he does and is very knowledgeable. Definitely an enjoyable course! I def RECOMMEND!!

Coolest teacher that CSUN has I bet! His class is easy and his midterms are based off class notes so it is recommended to take notes. Tests are straight forward and if you study listening CD's and review notes before tests, you will pass probably with an A or B. He is a musician and knows the material very well. Take HIS CLASS!!!

Very interesting class. I learned a lot about the music of Mexico. He is very straightforward. He lectures and provides text which is covered on exam. I highly recommend him. He is easy going, and very knowledgeable about this subject.

Loved his class!!! Took him at LACC too and was equally great. This guy really knows his stuff and it shows. My uncles are all Mexican musicians and they and everyone they know knows him. He's the man!

Attend all his lectures! You have to if you want to perform well on the exams, papers, etc. Take note of everything he says. He does speak quickly. I learned so much in his class.

Very easy professor. He's passionate about music so he knows the material. However, he always includes his personal opinion and preference of music into lecture and discredit many other. You'll get an A but simply enrolling in the class.

The lectures are very interesting. He knows what he is talking about. I definitely recommend him! You will never get bore in his class and the tests are easy. He gives two tests and one of them is a take home. Just go to class pay attention and you'll do fine.

Took him for CH S 100 and 111. Great professor, Had no interest in class and still don't but came out with an A both classes. Text book not mandatory but helpful on take home midterm and take home final!!!!! Totally recommend although friday class is a drag!! Easy A to fulfill GE. Make sure its him and not sister or dad!! No HW just reflection Qs.

I had him for chs 100 & 111, he's really easy and is a good teacher, you'll learn a lot! I had the readers but some people did not have them and still got an A in the class, so if you do not get the reader pay attention and take good notes! theres only 2 tests and they're take homes. he's really funny & makes the class fun, take this class! :)

2 tests both with take home parts to it and in class parts, one paper. easy class. lectures weren't too engaging. only need a reader and cd's for the semester. not a lot of work. if you don't do well, then wow. just make sure to understand different types of son music and you're fine. attendance optional, but show up at least once a week.

There was 1 midterm and 1 final. Both were take home exams. All you have to do is go to class and write down all of the notes b/c everything on the notes will be the answers for the exams. It was the easiest A I ever got.. it really doesn't get any easier than this. Don't buy the book.. we only read from it a couple times, and never used it again.

Professor Herrera is the best, he knows what he is taking about because he himself is a Mexican musican. Makes the class fun, and incredible insight on Mexican music. I really enjoyed his class, and for a one day class, lectures went by fast. Grade based on a take home and an in-class listening portion midterm, and final. Plus ten 1 page papers.

Take him if you can. He is very clear on his power points and his assignments are easy. Just keep up with the reading and listen to the audios. He is really nice and understanding .

Class consists of movies and little notes. Has open-note tests.

He has a true passion for the subject. As a Latina I love having highly educated professors who are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He doesn't care to make the class difficult, but instead wants to make it a great learning experience. He's all about effort and passion in learning. I wish I could take him again.

this prof is very very laid back!! i had him for c hs 111 so i decided to take again! His lectures are interesting and he is very into this subject He has a true passion for it which add more interest to class. His midterm and final are very straight forward and TAKE HOME! 10 easy one paper long reports about tracks! TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!

Great professor!! I learned so much about Mexican music; from the early beginnings (indigenous sounds) to custom instruments still used today. Professor Herrera passion for music is echoed through his teachings which makes this class fun & exciting. His test are straight forward with no surprises.

His class is a very easy A. All you have to do is turn in all the work on time and you will definitely get the full credit. He lets you use your notes in all his quizzes. And he offers you extra credit if you attend some guests presentation, you will get 25 points extra credit. Would recommend him without a doubt. Love to take him again.

He has 10 one page papers which are double spaced and have to be a page long. He has his own book that you have to purchase but he will tell you where to buy it from and it comes with 3 CDs. Attend the day before the midterm and the final because he will exclude you from doing an additional part on the midterm and final exam easy class!

Professor is nice and funny. You are assigned homework each week to write 1pg paper based on the info from CD'S and book. It is really important to buy them so you can do the assignments and exams. We have 2 midterms and final, most multiple choice and a few listening examples. Really helps if you speak spanish to understand content. Easy A class

It's clear that Prof. Herrera is very passionate about the subject matter. He is very knowledgeable and kind. For this class we had to write a one page paper every week, but he would often accept late assignments if need be. As long as you do the papers and study for the midterm and final (which he gives a study guide for) you'll pass.

Easy class, there are 10 one page double space papers that you have to do but he allows u to turn them in late if needed. He was always late to class & seemed in a rush. Just take notes in class & pay attention. Just a midterm & final which is part take home & part in class

His lectures were interesting since he would sometimes talk about the type of music he would create. And he would often make jokes during the lectures. We were suppose write three papers but only wrote two since the we didn't have time left and there was a midterm and a final. The exams are open notes and you have two attempts.

He's a funny and caring guy. Only assignments included 3 reports (one of which was optional), and 2 exams that are online and he gives you 2 attempts on. Very flexible and allows you to turn in assignments late with no penalty. He wants all his students to pass, and he makes it impossible to get anything less than an A. Take him take him take him!
