Wonderful professor, great teacher to take for a hard class! He helps you during his office hours, or even stop anything he's doing if you go to his office to help you.
He is THE BEST chemistry professor, ever. He is kind, compassionate and feels a duty to teach every student. Reading, attendance and homework are an essential part of his course and all sciences in general so if you take those responsibilities seriously he will help you succeed in every way :)
A dedicated educator. Wang teaches Gen. Chem, but works hard to ensure the class is grasping the core concepts of the lesson. He is willing to put in hours of time to help anyone who is having trouble in lecture. Very compassionate towards students experiencing difficulty. Offers extra test reviews (voluntary) for the class during his office hours.
Multiple choice tests, uploads powerpoints, online weekly homework, and curves when needed. Such a nice guy and tries to make the lectures interesting. This class is easy compared to other chem courses, but you still have to put a lot of work into the class especially if you never have taken chem before.
Do not be fouled by the previous comments. This professor is a good professor is you are a pro with chemistry if you are not I would strongly recommend taking someone else. Class started with about 50 people about to end with less than half that have not dropped yet. Review question really do not help. Save your money and find someone else.
Professor Wang is by far the best gen chem professor at USFSP. He gives his students every possible way to do well in his class. His tests are fair and his study guides directly relate to the material on the tests. He is always available out of class and is happy to help clear things up. IF YOU DON'T TAKE HIM FOR GEN CHEM YOU ARE MAKING A MISTAKE
Despite what others may have said Professor Wang by far has been the best science teacher I have had during my tenor at USFSTPT. He has been the most helpful of any teacher I have had and does everything possible for you to succeed. The grading policy is fair and geared for student success.
absolutely the best teacher ive ever had. Dr. Wang is extremely helpful, he is always there when you need him, and will stop at nothing to make sure you learn the necessary material. He makes chemistry a fun subject to pass. Thank you Dr. Wang!
Dr. Wang is an amazing professor. I've never met someone who genuinely cares about his students' grades the way he does. He goes out of his way to give extra credit and is available in his office whenever you need him. The subject isn't easy but he tries his absolute best to make it as good as possible.
Dr. Wang is the best professor at USFSP and genuinely cares for the performance of his students. He post study guides that help for tests and gives in class challenges that serve as extra credit. Although the subject is difficult, Dr. Wang will help anyone get through the course. I highly recommend him as a chemistry professor
10 point curves on tests (3, with lowest dropped + mandatory final). Gives reviews and uploads all material to Blackboard. Homework is an EASY A (25% of final grade) For a class at this level, it's not going to be easy, but believe me I've had other Chem prof.s and he's one of the best! I switched campuses just to take his class... it was worth it.
Dr. Wang is the best professor I've had. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help his students, is prompt and genuine in his support. The material is difficult at times, but if you do your part and read the book and complete the homework (an EASY A worth 25% of the final grade), Dr. Wang will do his part to ensure your success.
Dr Wang is an amazing professor! He makes chemistry as easy as it could possibly be. The material is tough, but if you practice his reviews and make sure you get 25% on hw you can almost certainly get a C or higher in his course. As a student repeating chem, i definitely understood it better with him this time around and got an A!
Undeniably the best professor I have had. Chemistry is not necessarily the easiest subject to grasp at times, but Professor Wang will go out of his way to ensure that you succeed. Easy homework points, and reviews available prior to exams. If you need to take chem, take Wang!
Excellent teacher. Will go above and beyond to help you understand the material. Chemistry is not the easiest of courses, yet he makes it fair with his grading policies (have that be a curve, dropping lowest grade, etc). Overall Dr. Wang is an excellent professor.
Very interesting, very thoughtful, EXTREMELY bright, patient Teacher of a very tough subject. Learned a lot from Dr. Wang AND actually got excited about some of it. His ability to communicate his passion and enjoyment of Chemistry deflected some of the difficulty. You will have to work hard for him - but you just might like doing so!!
Made me absolutely love chemistry. Such an amazing professor, I am now considering switching my major to chem. Tests are easy because similar questions are posted on test reviews on blackboard. Online work is simple as well. Attend class to get his bonus points from pop quizzes. Overall best teacher i've had at USFSP.
He's an alright teacher that really wants to help his students. Take him.
Extremely good professor! He is super helpful and super patient. He posts chapter review sheets for each chapter they are very similar to the test. He also allows a 1 page cheat sheet which is EXTREMELY helpful so you dont have to memorize 30+ equations and formulas. Uses online hw, gives occasional in class quizzes, and usually curves the tests.
Great Professor. Genuinely cares about students, will take time to learn everyone's name in the class. Always willing to meet with students or help with any questions. His accent is a little tough to understand at times. Allows "Cheat Sheets" during tests and drops one test at the end of the semester. Holds a study session before each exam to help.
Great professor! He is super helpful and patient. He posts chapter review sheets and they are very similar to his test. He allows a 1 page cheat sheet so you do not have to remember all the formulas. Uses mastering chemistry for hw, does in class challennges so going to class is important.
Favorite professor at USF St. Pete, for a tough class! I never took chemistry before, but Wang made it easy to understand. I enjoyed going to class, and learned a lot. I suggest attending every class because he gives out in-class quizzes in the beginning that count as extra credit. Study the powerpoints/review questions/cheat sheet for the tests!!
Best professor I have had yet. He cares alot about his students and memorized everyone's name by the end of the first week. He provided alot of help for each test and he also provides questions for bonus points that make it worth it to come to class. Lastly he has a sense of humor which makes is less dull.
Awesome professor! Makes the material from the book so much easier to comprehend. You can tell he really loves teaching chemistry and wants to help everyone succeed in his class.
Amazingly nice guy. Chemistry is notoriously difficult for a lot of people, he understands that and tries to give you as much help as possible.Very fair grader- drops lowest exam score, gives credit for attendace, offers extra credit AND lets you have a cheat sheet for the exam. Take him!
Amazing Teacher. Awesome person. He will find a way to make you understand and is 100% helpful all the time. Never in a bad mood and always ready to help. He takes great pride in teaching and will give you as much of his time as you ask of him. He asks that you give him the same effort so lazy people probably won't like him.
I had him for both Chem I & II. He's such an amazing professor and person over all. He dedicates so much of his personal time, OUTSIDE OF CLASS TOO to help you understand the material. He wants you to get an A and he gives you so many opportunities to do so. Bless his kind heart. Best Chemistry professor you'll ever have!
Professor Wang is an exemplary Professor. I honestly have never had a teacher that cared so much about us as individual students. He not only provides the information necessary to be successful in Chem II, but he makes the class enjoyable and fun. I would highly recommend him for Chemistry and any other classes that he would teach.
Fantastic professor and person.. Take him!
Fabulous professor. Wants to help his students as much as he can. He cares for his students as well for an example, he knows you and your name during the semester and after the semester is over. He does have an accent but personally his accent is not tough to understand. He posts so much online for you to pass the class!!!! Take Dr. Wang!!!!!
Dr.Wang is BY FAR the best science professor I have ever had. I had a 2 year gap between chem 1 and 2 and was really worried about my performance in this course. Dr.Wang works through problems, gives reviews, extra credit, and meets out of class. If you fail his class you are irresponsible and dont deserve it anyway.
Dr. Wang is a great professor. The course is not easy but he does his best to help his students. He offers extra credit to help his students and also will assist students any time throughout the week. He answers very fast to all the emails he receives. Overall, he is wonderful!
Chem 2 is by far one of the hardest classes you can take, but Prof Wang makes up for this and honestly makes the material seem doable. I'm not saying that you can guaranteed an A, but it's not impossible. I've always struggled in chemistry, but for once in my life I understand the material. Great teacher and he wants us to succeed. Funny too A++++
Dr. Wang always has a smile on his face, and he was more then willing to help outside of class if you need it. He directly asks you on the first day if you prefer to be called on in class and is respectful to the students. The material itself is not easy but Dr. Wang makes it a bit less difficult. Plus he is funny and laughter is good for the soul!
Personally Im not a chem or bio major so it was kind of hard for me to be motivated about this class. Overall, I got a B but I definitely worked for it! Practice the example problems a lot and the math (he likes the math problems more than conceptual ones). He was a nice guy but kind of impatient when people didn't get it.
Dr. Wang was such a happy guy! He was always there to help whenever we needed it. I took the class during summer A so we didn't have very much time to spare for reviewing so he would use his office hours to go over review questions before the test. He gives review sheets to help you study and puts questions very similar on the test! TAKE HIM!!!
Dr Wang is a great professor! Chemistry wasn't easy for me but with his help of curves on the tests and bonus pop quizzes I was able to pull my grade to where I wanted it by the end of the semester. He's more than happy to help and definitely makes you work for the grade you want. There's 3 tests, homework and a final. Overall he's great, take him!
GREAT PROFESSOR! He is so nice and caring always happy and upbeat. Chemistry isn't an easy subject to master, but he does everything to make the course as simple as possible. There's homework to be completed each week or so and only 3 exams but if you put in a some effort you'll end up with a good grade. Wonderful guy, I reccomend taking him :)
Dr Wang is the best professor I have ever had. General Chemistry II is not an easy subject, but he dedicates himself to helping students as much as possible. He will hold exam review sessions at any time to make sure as many students as possible can attend. He is always available to help and has a good sense of humor. Take him
Great professor! Cares for his students and provides many opportunities for his students to pass. This is not an easy class so work and effort is still required.
If you have to take chem take him there is not another choice, He is fantastic
He cares about your achievement in the class. If your taking chemistry. Take him. Awesome professor.
this is the GREATEST prof I have ever had. GO TO CLASS! so many extra credit opportunities available it's difficult to fail! Gives study reviews and they are SO helpful. Humorous, caring, fair, and just overall amazing experience. I struggled with chem 2 bc I took chem 1 so long ago, but Dr. Wang made it a breeze! 10/10! He wants you to succeed!
Dr. Wang is an amazing professor. He has clear course objectives, gives extra credit, has a passion for teaching, and truly wants all his students to succeed. If you have the change to take him, do it!
Dr. Wang is great. Of course you have to work hard - it's chemistry. He makes it as easy as possible and the lectures really help deepen the understanding of the material.
Extremely easy lab professor. His class consists of weekly pre and post lab reports and one project. He only grades you based on completion rather than accuracy of your experiments so you don't need to worry about having completely accurate data. Really nice and caring guy!
Dr. Wang's Chemistry I lab was amazing. Since I actually tried in class, he even let me turn in an assignment late once, full credit. He's not the best at explaining some things, but if you have a grasp of what's going on during lecture, lab is a piece of cake.
Literally the easiest class I've ever taken. Dr Wang is a very caring and easygoing guy who makes the labs as easy as possible. There are weekly pre & post lab reports but they take no more than an hour each most of the time. As long as you show up to each lab and do the work, I guarantee this will be one of the easiest classes you ever take.
Professor Wang is not the best choice for chemistry lecture/lab. Unclear of what he really wants us to do on assignments, and not very helpful when responding to emails. Doesn't really help a whole lot with labs. Does give extra credit at times. Maybe this wasn't his best semester to teach? Nice professor, just not very helpful at all.
Professor Wang was not the best choice for chemistry lab. Didn't really help a whole lot while completing experiments. Mostly on our own. Doesn't really go over what he really wants on lab reports. Nice professor, not very good at helping and clarifying things.
Professor Wang was an effective professor, especially during Covid. Wang made my online transition very smooth; he answered all of my emails with clarity and gave SEVERAL extra credit opportunities throughout the course. Wang also allowed me to revise Labs. Just show up and show you are trying to do your best and he will assist you along the way.
I really liked this class. Dr. Wang is one of those professors who really cares about his students and wants to make your life easier. He gives extra credit, and exams, weekly homework, and quizzes are easy.
Dr. Wang is a good professor if you attend his lectures. Personally, I did not attend half of them, and I had to keep myself afloat my rewatching his lectures, other professors', YouTube, or do the practice questions and Google the solutions myself. He is also very responsive, as he would answer your emails within 10 minutes. He also helps students
Took Dr. Wang for chem lecture. Really wasn't the best. Doesn't really clarify much on assignments, of how in depth to go. Weekly HW assignments, quizzes, and a few exams. Seems to mess up on exams a lot, doesn't proof read them all? Also seemed to have a lot of technical issues when teaching. Nice Professor. Personally wasn't the best at USF.
Really wasn't the best professor when taking this laboratory. Does go over expectations, but not very well. Doesn't really go over how to do an official lab report. Not very helpful in class. Would ask something, doesn't clarify much. Kind of tough, especially when he doesn't show how to use laboratory equipment in class. Recommend different prof.
Dr. Wang is one of the kindest, most caring professors I've ever had. He genuinely wants his students to succeed, and is very easy to talk to about questions. He loves when people speak up in class. Some students say his accent makes him difficult to understand, but he's always happy to explain if you ask. He's adorable and I recommend him.
I really enjoyed learning from Wang. Everything was fairly easy and straight to the point. A few homework assignments & quizzes and he gives bonus questions after every lecture! Your grade is basically based off of how you do on the exams (3 midterms & one final) if you attend lectures & do the review sheets youll be fine!
One of the best chem teachers at USF. I never took a chemistry class and managed to get an A. The only hard thing about this class is the exams because they are weighted heavily. Attendance not mandatory online, it's just extra credit. Homework and quizzes are easy. There are review sheets and sessions for exams but obviously have to study.
Wang is hands-down the best professor ever. He gives many extra credit opportunities and practice problems that can help you so much on the tests. By no means is this class an easy A, its Gen Chem folks. But, if you show up to class every day, are actively engaged, and put effort to study, you will succeed!! Wang also has office hours to help! (:
Prof Wang is AMAZING! I will be forever grateful that his class took away my fear of chemistry, created by teachers in my past. Chem isn't easy, but he doesnt make it any harder than it needs to be. He does EC, will help you outside of class, posts optional review questions, optional review zooms. Hw and quiz are not meant to hurt grades. Take him!
LOVE THIS MAN!!! Would 100% take him again, he is so great and a very understanding professor. He does a wonderful job at explaining all the concepts and will help you out when you need it. He also offers extra credit which is wonderful and his classes are never boring.
Love Dr. Wang!! Amazingly kind professor. Yes the course was difficult but he creates great lectures, offers tons of bonus point opportunities, and takes time outside of class to help students with questions and test review. If you go to class, do the homework, and don't wait until the last minute to learn the material you'll get an A!
Dr. Wang is an amazing professor. His lectures were always thorough and easy to follow. He provides a lot of practice problems and study guides to prepare you for the tests. The homework and quizzes help you learn a lot and are super beneficial. Hes an amazing professor and person, hes also an amazing reference for scholarships and internships.
One of the most caring professors. He cares about students and their grades. Attending lectures not necessary but you may miss bonus points opportunities. Grading consists of quizzes and homework for each chapter, 3 midterms and a cumulative exam. Also, he calls on students during class so stay awake!
If you do the review worksheets and understand them, you'll do fine on the exams. There were 3 exams, but the lowest one gets dropped. He bumps your score up by 10 points for each exam, and there's only 1 quiz and 1 10 question homework assignment every 1-2 weeks.
If you get a chance please take Dr. Wang for Chem. Hands down the best teacher! Not only does he genuinely care for his students, but he gives TONS of extra credit and curves grades on tests if the whole class does bad. Wang makes learning Chemistry fun and engaging. It's pretty hard to completely fail Chemistry if you take him. He's so easy-going!
The lectures and homework are clear and straight foreword. Make sure to study for the test because it is weighted heavily. The class can be difficult so make sure to ask questions and go to office hours.
He was a very nice guy and very caring and also provided many bonus and extra credit oppurtunities. However, I will say that he tends to gloss over alot of important information and does not really go over things thoroughly. He moves very fast in his lectures and it can be alot to keep up with. The tests are hard and they are weighted heavily too.
Dr. Wang was an amazing professor for the summer. He has a quiz and homework due every week for every chapter. Has 3 midterms and 1 final but drops your lowest midterm. Attendance is not necessary, but you will miss out on extra credit opportunities. I can't emphasize enough to study his chapter reviews before the homework and before the tests.
Dr. Bob is one of the best professors I have had and makes chemistry very easy to understand. Has homework and quiz every weekend and has plenty of extra credit. I would recommend sitting up front as he respects those that he sees every day. Dr. Bob has three midterms, the lowest one is dropped and has a two-question grace.
Hard to understand him sometimes but he is very nice and funny.
Dr. Wang is one of the BEST professors I've had at USF to date. You can tell he really cares about all his students and wants them to grasp the material and feel comfortable asking questions. He also gives bonus points to encourage students to attend his lectures. He is so kind and easy to talk to. His lectures are very thorough. Highly recommend!
Chemistry itself is a hard concept to grasp, for beginners but with practice it gets easier. Cheat sheets were allowed for the exams which really did help in the long run. Grades consist of on average 4-question homework assignments, quizzes with multiple attempts, and exams. 85%+ is an A, 5-minute response time, and 2% extra credit.
Took Dr. Bob Wang for both semesters of chem, he is genuinely a one-in-a-million professor. He is very caring about the student and wants them to succeed. This course is a lot harder than chem 1 because it requires a lot of various calculations. There are 3 midterms and a final make up the bulk of your grade, but with studying you will pass.
Dr. Bob is a FANTASTIC professor. Very kind, funny, and approachable. Amazing course structure - biweekly homework/quizzes, two attempts, 5-10 questions each. 3 exams + final, all have a 2 question curve. Lowest exam grade dropped. Final grade adjusted by 2% if attend all classes in person (bonus q's in class). Doesn't get much better than that!
He truly cares about his students and their success. Very nice and funny guy. It is easy to pass if you do the work and put aside time to study.
He is very caring and wants his students to do well. 3 exams throughout the semester, the lowest grade is dropped, and 1 final exam. Each exam is 22 questions, but only 20 are graded. 8 chapters to go through. 10 questions per homework and there are 8 homeworks. 2 extra credit opportunities per class. Easy to pass if you do the work and study.
Dr. Bob is a great professor, but you have to pay attention in the lectures to know what's going on. I wouldn't recommend skipping a class. If you pay attention and study, you can pass with a good grade.
For the week lab, there was a prelab report, lab participation, postlab report, and quiz. You were allowed to drop one total week lab at the end of the semester. Just a lot of writing and he doesn't give the best instructions. As long as you do your best, write your reports, and participate in class, you can pass with a good grade.
I almost failed Chem2 in Tampa so I had to drop it &retook it in StPete with Wang & he's THE BEST Professor I ever had! He made me love chem & did so well in a subject that I thought was hopeless for me. He spends so much time w/students in&out of class helping with questions, never makes you feel dumb for asking. If you struggle w/Chem, TAKE WANG!
I do not know where all these amazing reviews come from. Exams aren't like the material. Doesn't actually teach the material. When he does, it's not coherent which makes it impossible to take notes. You'll teach yourself everything. My lecture was in person but the exams were online.
Sweetest guy ever. Pay attention and do the review questions, they are exactly like the exams. Some exam questions come from the HW/quizzes or lectures so do all of them. Show up and put effort, it's a really easy class. All chem info is online and on YT if you struggle. If he says memorize something, DO, people who fail just dont listen to him
Weekly pre-labs, labs, post-labs, and quizzes. Make sure you attend class and do the assignments and you can pass.
Exams don't reflect lectures. It was a tough class, but Dr. Bob made it easier and enjoyable. 3 exams, and one cumulative final. He drops the lowest exam score. 10ish homework's with 10 questions and 10ish quizzes with 5 questions. Try your best, attend class, and you will be just fine.
I had Prof. Wang for Chem 1, and he was a very sweet guy. He always answered questions to the best of his ability, and he was a great teacher, always accessible outside of class if you needed it. Would definitely recommend taking him for Chem 1 & 2.
